A study undertakes systems genetics analysis of gene by environment (GxE) interactions in human cells in order to analyze human primary endothelial cell responses to proinflammatory oxidized phospholipids involved in cardiovascular disease. Results highlight a significant presence of GxE interactions, suggesting that GxE interactions which affect gene expression may be a key characteristic of complex disease.
