The effect of curvature on the shape of large craters on nonplanar surfaces of smaller bodies is investigated by the artificial production of impact craters on mortar targets of different surfaces which are cylindrical, spherical and plane in shape. As the curvature of the target decreases, the cross section of the crater becomes deeper, and there is a reduction in the crater diameter and ejecta mass. The diameter and ejecta mass of craters on convex spherical surface are much bigger than the craters formed on the cylindrical surfaces.
