Abstract

A high-resolution chronology obtained upon correlating oxygen isotope data for trapped O2 in the GISP2 and Vostok cores helps determine climate correlations between Greenland and Antarctica during the last glaciation. Interstadials lasting for longer than 2,000 years in Greenland led to the occurrence of interstadials in east Antarctica. Climate correlation between Greenland and Antarctica can be partially attributed to partial deglaciation and changes in ocean circulation.
