Teachers' beliefs may influence their teaching practices and use of strategies and interventions. In recent years, the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder has been on the rise, and there has been an increase in the number of students with autism enrolled in mainstream schools. However, teachers often feel ill-prepared to provide appropriate support for students with autism and may hold different beliefs about these students and how to support them. Although empirical studies exploring teachers' beliefs exist, very few studies have systematically examined and analysed teachers' beliefs about teaching students with autism. This study used a systematic review methodology to locate previous studies focused on exploring teachers' beliefs towards students with autism, published in peer-reviewed journals in the past 10 years (2012-2021). The results of the data analysis conceptualised five major themes about different types of teachers' beliefs. The implications for teachers' practices, education reforms, and further research directions are also provided.

Despite the importance of initial teacher training, no primary education courses in South Korean universities provide a compulsory course in gifted education and elective courses are limited. Individual in-depth interviews with seven lecturers of gifted education courses were conducted to elicit their opinions about initial teacher education in gifted education. The lecturer interviewees suggested that there should be more of an emphasis on gifted education in initial teacher education programs. They also emphasized the importance of practical teaching experience with gifted students. The expansion of initial teacher education in gifted education in South Korea has the potential to improve preservice teachers' understanding gifted students, ultimately improving the outcomes of this population.

Despite the acknowledged importance of integrating creativity into school curricula, students with learning disabilities often lack the skill of creativity, due to its absence in classroom instruction. To address these gaps, the authors developed a needs analysis questionnaire assessing the necessity of a creativity module for primary school students with learning disabilities, focusing on Torrance's four creativity elements: (a) Originality, (b) Fluency, (c) Flexibility, and (d) Elaboration. This study, emphasizing content validity and reliability testing, comprised rigorous validation by a panel of nine special education experts, resulting in high content validity scores. In Part II, all items were accepted, yielding an overall S-CVI score of 0.97, indicating a 'very suitable' construct. In Part III two items were rejected; the overall S-CVI score remained at 0.80, signifying 'very suitable'. A pilot test with 30 special education teachers demonstrated Cronbach's Alpha values 0.87, indicating high reliability for all questionnaire parts. The study emphasizes the questionnaire's efficacy in assessing teachers' understanding of creativity skills and their perspectives on the importance of a customized creativity module. This tool holds substantial potential for educators and curriculum developers, providing insights to address specific student needs, foster creativity in classrooms and enhance overall educational experiences.

The global pandemic necessitated changes in the way university courses were delivered, forcing most teaching and learning online. Post-pandemic, many students continue to struggle with attending their classes on campus. It has been suggested that Hyflex delivery mode is a solution to this problem, allowing students to attend class either face to face or online, depending on their individual needs and preferences. There is, however, a dearth of literature focussed on whether the Hyflex model of course delivery is beneficial to students and feasible for instructors. This study explores the experiences and perspectives of both instructors and students of the HyFlex delivery mode in a postgraduate education course. The study employed a qualitative research design, using attendance records, surveys, and interviews to collect data from 11 students and two instructors. The findings suggested that HyFlex offers a flexible and adaptable approach to learning that can meet the diverse needs and preferences of students. Both instructors and students appreciated the flexibility and convenience of HyFlex, as well as the opportunities for engagement and interaction in both the face-to-face and online modes of delivery. However, the study also highlighted the challenges of HyFlex, particularly in relation to technology infrastructure and split instructor attention that could impact on self-efficacy. The authors provide recommendations for addressing these challenges and enhancing the benefits of HyFlex delivery mode. Overall, the study contributes to the growing body of research on HyFlex delivery mode and provides valuable insights for instructors using this mode of delivery in university courses.

This paper proposes four principles for managers and higher education educators who are designing units and programmes so as to be dual mode ready. `Dual mode' design and delivery enables students to equitably complete their studies fully online, while also offering on-campus experiences where possible. The four principles are: (1) All learning outcomes can be met irrespective of participation mode; (2) Teaching-learning activities are equitable across participation modes; (3) All students have equivalent opportunity to demonstrate achievement of learning outcomes; and (4) 'Online ready' design. Being dual mode ready will likely remain important as on-campus delivery may not be possible for all students. Further, universities may need to pivot rapidly to fully online delivery for a range of reasons, including pandemic-related circumstances. The four principles provide guidance on how best to ensure equity and fairness for students and teachers in a dual mode context.

Students with emotional and behavioural disability who receive their education in special settings often do not have access to the curriculum through evidence-based pedagogies, such as direct instruction, and instead complete packets of worksheets or participate in distance education. The current study was a collaborative action research project involving a special school for students with emotional disability and a local university to examine the effects of replacing online distance education with in-person direct instruction underpinned by Universal Design for Learning. Researchers sought to discover teacher and student perceptions of Universal Design for Learning, enablers and barriers to its implementation, and its effect on attendance and behaviour. Results suggested satisfaction on the part of both students and teachers and a positive effect of Universal Design for Learning on both attendance and behaviour.
