Issue 51 of the Bank Street Occasional Papers Series "Reconceptualizing Quality Early Care and Education with Equity at the Center" is a response to Gunilla Dahlberg, Peter Moss, and Alan Pence's 25-year interrogation of the concept of quality in early childhood education (ECE) (Dahlberg et al., 1999, 2013, 2023). Their groundbreaking work has called early childhood educators to question deeply held assumptions about the universality of childhood and how these shape the standardization of practices in early childhood settings around the world. While quality is typically conceived of as existing primarily in classrooms, the authors in Issue 51 remind readers that the small world of ECE exists within oppressive systems imbued with intersecting racism, classism, sexism, and ableism, and that, therefore, a beyond quality praxis requires nurturing and supporting educators through partnerships (recognizing that resilience is social), developing political commitments and orientations through relationships, and mobilizing these relationships for collective action towards liberatory alternatives. The idea for this issue, which is a part of a broader project to identify and analyze promising, equity-committed early childhood policies and practices, emerged over the past few years.

Issue #49 of the Bank Street Occasional Paper Series, "Indigenous Pedagogies: Land, Water and Kinship," brings together Indigenous educators and researchers to demonstrate how Indigenous teaching and learning takes form across contexts. Indigenous knowledge systems, values, and ways of being are understood and enacted within socio-ecological systems grounded in reciprocal kin relations. This means that for Indigenous peoples, teaching, learning, living, and being in relation with human and more-than-human beings is central to their knowledge systems. The authors worry that forwarding Indigenous pedagogies for educators broadly could result in a romanticization or appropriation of indigeneity, but hope that it will contribute broadly to sustainable and just futures.

This edited volume presents the latest research focussing on current challenges on the deployment of smart technologies and pedagogies for supporting teaching and learning in the post-covid19 era. This is at the core of studying the evolution of the learning process, the role of technology-supported pedagogical approaches, and the progress of educational technology innovations in the context of digital transformation in education and professional training. A selection of the best papers from the Cognition and Exploratory Learning in the Digital Age (CELDA) Conference, 2022 are included in this volume, bringing together high-quality research on Smart Pedagogies in the Post-Pandemic Era; Smart Learning Technologies in the Post-Pandemic Era; and Case Studies of Smart Learning Environments. The volume contributes to the discussion of current issues in digital education between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers.

The 2022 EUROCALL conference was held in Reykjavik on 17-19 August 2022 as a fully online event hosted by the Vigdís Finnbogadóttir Institute for Foreign Languages, the University of Iceland, and the Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies. The conference theme was "Intelligent CALL, granular systems and learner data." This theme reflects the newest developments in the field of technology for language learning. Subfields such as natural language processing and machine learning not only enable smoother spoken and written communication between human learners and computers, but also offer ways in which language learning can be tailored to the needs of individual learners. By adding components of automatic speech recognition, text-to-speech systems, automatic feedback mechanisms, and tracking systems monitoring learners' progress and their use of tools, applications are becoming better targeted. All of this is used to optimise the learning experience of individual learners. This volume includes 66 short papers by some of the EUROCALL 2022 presenters and it offers a combination of research studies and theoretical papers reflecting the subthemes of the conference. Issue #50 of the Bank Street Occasional Paper Series, "Learning With Treescapes in Environmentally Endangered Times Learning with Treescapes in Environmentally Endangered Times," is intended to be hopeful. Articles in this issue contribute to the envisioning of new practices and to an architecture of knowledge to waymark a more sustainable route into the future. Trees are vital for the present and future health of the planet, its inhabitants, and ecosystems. They store carbon and breathe out oxygen. Their leaves filter dangerous pollutants. Their branches provide shade and a shelter for a myriad of other beings, allowing diverse species to thrive. They provide cooling, control erosion, and filter water. Articles in this issue include stories from teachers and their students about learning with trees, and descriptions of how engagements with trees can transform research and ways of thinking, feeling, and being. Across multiple pieces, authors reflect on how connecting with trees facilitates greater connection among humans and between humans and the more-than-human occupants of our planet.

This issue of the Bank Street "Occasional Paper Series" brings together educators and researchers to (re)imagine what it means to teach and learn within the immediacy of the here and now, an orientation crucial to confronting contemporary threats to children's lives, democracy, and the planet. The papers seek to extend and broaden Bank Street College founder Lucy Sprague Mitchell's original conceptualizations by centering the past and future alongside the immediacies of the now, elevating Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) perspectives in children's geographies and exploring potentialities of mapping in analog as well as emerging digital forms. The authors also aim to carry forward her commitments to listening to children with curiosity and care, rooted in a belief that young people know a lot about the world already and that they are fully capable of delving deep into complex processes and problems. As such, this collection situates young peoples' here and now within sociopolitical landscapes, the wider nested systems and structures that constitute and reconstitute land, place, and children's geographies. The authors in this special issue extend, critique, and reimagine what it means to center young people's worlds and ways of knowing to make sense of the here and now.

The 2021 EUROCALL conference engaged just under 250 speakers from 40 different countries. Cnam Paris and Sorbonne Université joined forces to host and organise the event despite the challenging context due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally programmed to be held on site in the heart of Paris, France, the EUROCALL organising team and executive committee agreed to opt for a blended and then for a fully online conference. The theme of the 2021 EUROCALL conference was "CALL & Professionalisation". This volume, a selection of 54 short papers by some of the EUROCALL 2021 presenters, offers a combination of research studies as well as practical examples fairly representative of the theme of the conference. Volume 2 of the handbook has been designed to supplement the material presented in Volume 1, which was concerned with basic problems associated with the Adult Basic Education (ABE) classroom. Volume 2 aims at a wider audience. Chapter 1 attempts to give a detailed description of the deprived adult learner, and considers such questions as how they are; why they are as they are; and what to do about it. Chapter 2 suggests some methods and means of increasing and improving services to the deprived. Chapters 3 and 4 present some data and arguments favoring public support of adult education. Chapter 5 considers the crucial problem of communicating and interacting with the deprived. Chapters 6 and 7 attempt to make Chapter 2 more extensive, intensive, and protensive by setting forth curriculum practices and suggesting techniques, tools, and trends in ABE. Chapter 7 indicates how the total program in adult education may be improved, unified, and made more continuous through the coordinated efforts of administrators and supervisors in the field. Finally, the appendixes, through a series of position papers, present some thought-provoking subject matter selected from a wide array of scholars considered knowledgeable in the area of adult education. Research messages is a summary of research produced by NCVER each year. This guide draws on English-related errors from around 6000 papers written by non-native authors, 500 abstracts written by PhD students, and over 2000 hours of teaching researchers how to write and present research papers. This new edition has chapters on exploiting AI tools such as ChatGPT, Google Translate, and Reverso, for generating, paraphrasing, translating and correcting texts written in English. It also deals with contemporary issues such as the use of gender pronouns. Due to its focus on the specific errors that repeatedly appear in papers written by non-native authors, this manual is an ideal study guide for use in universities and research institutes. Such errors are related to the usage of articles, countable vs. uncountable nouns, tenses, modal verbs, active vs. passive form, relative clauses, infinitive vs. "-ing" form, the genitive, link words, quantifiers, word order, prepositions, acronyms, abbreviations, numbers and measurements, punctuation, and spelling.

The overarching objective of this research was to identify the factors that predicted lecturers' adoption of online assessment in one Singapore-based Institute of Technical Education. The factors investigated were system usability and learnability; lecturers' performance expectancy, social influences and attitudes towards online assessment; and lecturers' perceptions of the facilitating conditions that support online assessment. Among these factors, usability, learnability and attitude were introduced to the UTAUT model as additional variables. The adoption of online assessment was measured in terms of lecturers' behavioural intentions to use the online assessment system and their self-reported system usage behaviour. The relationships between these factors were also examined. Four papers are presented in the book. The first reviewed previous literature on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model, and proposed an extended UTAUT model to examine the factors that influence online assessment adoption. The second reviewed studies in the area of online assessment methods published from 2007 to 2019. In the third paper, an instrument to assess constructs in the extended UTAUT model proposed was developed and validated. In the final paper, the instrument developed in the third study was used to explore relationships among the constructs in the extended UTAUT model. Specifically, path analysis was conducted to examine the various factors that influence lecturers' acceptance of online assessment within the institution. The 47th annual conference of the Adult and Higher Education Alliance (AHEA) was held online and in person in March 2023. The Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education (SITE) 2024 International Conference brought together a diverse group of educators, researchers, and practitioners from around the world, in Las Vegas, Nevada, from March 25-29, 2024. SITE 2024 welcomed presenters and attendees from 30 countries and 470 institutions and organizations. The schedule was packed with more than 600 sessions, social events, and networking opportunities. These published proceedings represent the contributions of more than 800 international authors. The conference provided an excellent space for connecting with exciting ideas as well as the most dynamic and thoughtful thinkers and practitioners in the field. The epidemic of COVID-19 has disrupted education in over 150 nations and harmed 1.6 billion children. As a result, a number of nations have introduced some type of remote learning employing technology and students were encouraged to engage in self-determined learning. Many Educational Institutions that previously resisted changing their traditional pedagogical method were forced to use online teaching and learning exclusively. Internet-educated kids who have never encountered this issue are unfamiliar with it. As a result, they are confronted with a number of psychological issues and are negatively impacting the health, social, and material well-being of children globally, with the poorest children, such as homeless children and children in detention, being the hardest hit. As a result, the editors came to the conclusion that it would be beneficial to issue a call for papers in order to discuss the difficulties and opportunities associated with the practise of heutagogy from the psychological and technological vantage points indicated in the title. For this 15th iteration of the International Conference on Educational Data Mining (EDM 2022), the conference was held in Durham, England, with an online hybrid format for virtual participation as well. EDM is organized under the auspices of the International Educational Data Mining Society. The theme of this year's conference is Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) in EDM Research and Practice. This theme emphasizes the importance of considering and broadening who is included--or not included--in EDM, and why. the theme speaks to the importance of IDEA considerations in all stages of the research process, from participant recruitment and selection, data collection, methods, analysis, results, to the application of research results in the future. The conference features three invited talks: Jennifer Hill, Professor of Applied Statistics at New York University; René Kizilcec, Assistant Professor of Information Science at Cornell University; and Judy Robertson, Professor of Digital Learning at the University of Edinburgh. This book is the first edited volume to compile up-to-date scholarship that discusses frontier knowledge on second language (L2) collaborative writing (CW) and highlights technology-mediated solutions to it. The volume consists of conceptual papers and empirical studies that explore theoretical, methodological, and pedagogical approaches to CW in face-to-face, online, and hybrid learning contexts. The ten chapters of the book are divided into three sections: (1) theoretical perspectives and a methodological review of CW; (2) empirical research addressing the processes, products, and effects pertaining to CW; (3) pedagogical aspects relevant to CW, namely task design, technology use, and assessment. By examining the implementation of various CW tasks across modes, genres, and L2 learning settings, this book re-evaluates the practices of CW and illustrates how diverse forms of CW can facilitate students' L2 learning and writing development.

This book brings together a series of papers on education in rural Zimbabwe. It is informed throughout by the generative theory of rurality, which sees rural communities as the most significant agents in solving the challenges they face. Against this theoretical backdrop, the 13 chapters challenge policy makers, researchers and educators to confront the problem of poor academic performance among learners in rural learning ecologies.
