Abstract

This conference had the aimed to promote the debate on the future of public libraries, current theme by issues such as increasing digitization of works, the digital market of reading or the beginning of conception of these centers as “third place". As a result of the conference, some works on the topic were made by several professionals who participated in it, trying to go beyond the usual conference papers.

Abstract

Born in September 2008 "Entrevista a..." within RecBib - Recursos Bibliotecarios (www.recbib.es) for the purpose of interviewing people dedicated to the field of librarianship, documentation and other related branches. In March 2009 we achieved the milestone of 25 interviews, with which we now know how the interviewees are like and how they deal with a wide range of current and relevant topics in the professional world. The purpose of these interviews is to approach the human side of them while asking about issues related to libraries, professionals, information technology.

Abstract

BiblogTecarios (“blogging librarians”) was created with a clear objective: to offer its members the possibility of having a platform to publish their knowledge, concerns and opinions about their professional sector, that of Information and Documentation. Since its beginnings it has been clear that the purpose of the project was not intended to allow a few to publish each day, but rather that the more people participating in the project, the greater variety of topics could be discussed. Now that BiblogTecarios has 40 blogs, communication tools are essential for the proper functioning of the website, as well as the desire to work on a joint (collaborative and cooperative) project. Crowdsourcing, or the collective intelligence of its members, helped this project to grow; personal connections and collective work are the key pillars for its continued growth. BiblogTecarios connects people: it is crowdsourcing.
