IFLA is the "global voice" for the libraries. The IFLA Trend Report in the global information environment makes public what is happening in information society, how the Global Society, in particular libraries, are resolving it and observe how this change affects in our sector that they can challenge the work, mission and purpose of the libraries. Five trends associated to information acces are identified: New technologies will both expand and limit who has access to information, online education will democratise and disrupt global learning, the boundaries of privacy and data protection will be redefined, hyper-connected societies will listen to and empower new voices and groups and the global information economy will be transformed by new technologies.
