Abstract Background There is a consensus among scholars, policymakers, and implementers that addressing the complex nature of intimate partner violence (IPV) requires a collaborative response. However, there is limited literature on how various professionals work collaboratively to address the needs of women with disabilities who experience IPV. This study combines the perspectives of women with disabilities and those of professionals to understand collaboration in providing IPV services to women with disabilities. Methods Twenty-nine in-depth interviews were conducted with 18 IPV service providers and 11 women with disabilities. The data were analyzed using reflective thematic analysis. Results The findings are presented under three themes: the first shows a consensus among different IPV service providers and disabled women on the importance of collaboration when supporting victims of IPV with disabilities; the second depicts the common ways in which collaboration occurs when supporting women with disabilities; and the third illuminates the critical elements that boost effective collaboration. Conclusion Supporting IPV victims with disabilities requires active collaboration at both an internal and external level. Strengthening collaboration among different actors requires trust, specified roles, and the allocation of adequate resources.

IntroductionThe relationship between coaches and athletes with disabilities is critical for enhancing athletes' performance and psychosocial well-being. This study aims to provide evidence-based recommendations for coaches, sports organizations, and policymakers dedicated to supporting athletes with disabilities.MethodsA comprehensive analysis of existing literature was conducted. Five databases were searched, including PubMed, Web of Science, SPORTDiscus, Google Scholar, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. A total of 22 studies were included for thematic analysis.ResultsThis systematic review identifies key factors influencing the coach-athlete relationship in disabled sports. These factors are categorized into three main domains: professional, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. In the professional domain, effective coaching requires sport-specific skills and adaptive techniques tailored to the unique needs of athletes with disabilities. Coaches must understand the technical and tactical aspects of each parasport and adapt training plans to optimize performance and foster independence. The interpersonal domain emphasizes communication strategies and team-building practices. Effective communication involves understanding athletes' needs and adapting approaches to maximize strengths. Building rapport, managing conflict, and fostering a supportive team environment are crucial for maintaining a positive coach-athlete relationship. The intrapersonal domain highlights the importance of self-reflection and continuous learning. Coaches who engage in self-reflection and professional development better understand their behaviors and biases, enabling them to tailor coaching strategies to the specific needs of athletes with disabilities. Continuous learning is essential for remaining responsive to the evolving needs of these athletes.DiscussionThis review underscores the importance of a holistic approach that integrates professional expertise, interpersonal skills, and intrapersonal awareness. By addressing these factors, it provides a foundation for developing more effective coaching strategies and supports for athletes with disabilities, ultimately enhancing their performance and well-being. Future research should explore cultural differences, the specific coaching needs of athletes with intellectual disabilities, and the impact of policies and structural barriers on the coach-athlete relationship in disabled sports.

Background The aging of our population and the intensification of major chronic disease problems will inevitably lead to an increase in the number of disabled people, resulting in increased pressure on social care and a heavier burden on the government and families for the elderly. At the same time, the unbalanced allocation of health resources will pose even more serious challenge to the medical treatment and nursing care of the disabled population. Objective To explore the differences of disability rate, disability degree and influencing factors among middle-aged and elderly people in eastern, central and western regions of China. Methods Data from the 2018 China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were analyzed from 2022-10-05 to 2023-01-13, and 19 170 middle-aged and elderly people aged 45 years and above were selected as the study subjects. Activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) scales were used to determine disability. The situation and degree of disability in middle-aged and elderly people were considered as dependent variables, and independent variables were selected from three aspects of general demographic characteristics, health evaluation and lifestyle according to CHARLS data questionnaire. Binary and multivariate Logistic regression analyses were conducted to analyze the factors affecting the disability and degree of disability of middle-aged and elderly people in eastern, central and western regions of China. Abstract This study investigated the risk of heatwaves for people with disabilities and other socioeconomic attributes using Health Care Bigdata in South Korea. The Health Care Bigdata provides detailed information on heat-related illness (HRI) patients in 2011–2020 from seven major cities. We employed the Distributed Lag Nonlinear Model (DLNM) to measure heat waves' relative risk. Our findings are four-fold. First, the relative risk (RR) of disabled people was 5.075 (95% confidence interval 4.476–5.674), significantly surpassing that of non-disabled people, 3.296 (2.517–4.075). Second, among various personal characteristics studied, disability influenced RR the most, exceeding impacts from elderly (4.457: 3.748–5.166), low-income (3.909: 3.004–4.813), and outdoor (4.052: 2.940–5.164). Third, the disabled young group (5.305: 4.414–6.195) was more vulnerable than the non-disabled elderly group (4.287: 3.576–4.999). Lastly, no significant difference in relative risk was observed between the mild (4.413: 3.855–4.971) and severe disabled groups (4.013: 3.121–4.905).

Prosthetic feet are essential aids for individuals with disabilities, enabling them to stand and walk. However, current prosthetic foot designs often fall short in terms of material properties, potentially compromising safety on various surfaces. This study examines the impact of different rubber types, specifically their hardness, on the friction between prosthetic feet and flooring materials. We evaluated the static friction coefficients of five rubber types on four different floor surfaces under varying normal loads, utilizing an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) model. Results demonstrate that rubber hardness and normal load significantly influence the friction coefficient. A decrease in rubber hardness increases the friction coefficient, thereby reducing slippage. Notably, a reduction in rubber hardness enhanced the friction coefficient by up to 62%, while an increase in normal load improved it by 35%. Additionally, dynamic friction coefficients were assessed through robotic locomotion experiments on different flooring surfaces using the various rubber materials. These findings provide valuable insights for enhancing the safety and performance of prosthetic feet.

The motivations of disabled individuals to become entrepreneurs can be influenced by various factors. Throughout their careers and projects, entrepreneurs with disabilities may face multiple personal, social, and political obstacles. This research aims to develop a rigorous, systematic examination of the literature on the obstacles disabled people must overcome to become entrepreneurs. The literature review focused on analyzing ten articles from Web of Science and Scopus. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) is used to organize the field of research. This compilation of peer-reviewed research papers is necessary for academia and government to realize the vision of shared prosperity by 2030.

While Romania has undergone huge progress during the last 30 years, the situation of marginalized groups hasn’t progressed as well as the country’s rapid economic development. The plight of vulnerable groups such as unhoused people, persons with disabilities, and the LGBTQ community continues to be a source of social turbulence, as they are consistently facing exclusion. Authorities do not prioritize their integration within society and there is a lack of policies to deal with these issues, leading to the appearance of extremely polarizing movements such as the 2018 referendum initiative to ban same-sex unions. This paper aims to analyze three case studies where advocacy organizations championed the cause of the above-mentioned groups, in order to increase visibility, representation, and integration, and pinpoint best practices for organizations advocating on behalf of disadvantaged groups. The three main best practices we have learned regarding advocacy projects targeting public policy for marginalized groups are: a. always put a local group at the center of the project, b. bring outside partners or mentors who can bring advocacy skills to the project, c. look for other, supplemental, positive outcomes, that usually tend to come up in the work with marginalized groups.

All human beings in the world; no matter their race, culture, origin and religion have a right to live and access different environments with ease and comfort ability. This includes disabled persons with any type from all types of disability. Hence, we need to ensure that all the buildings that we need to access in our daily lives are designed to accommodate all. One of the most significant buildings that people spend most of their time in and their comfort being most important are residential buildings. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that residential homes incorporate inclusive design principles to accommodate all individuals, particularly those with special needs. This research paper examines residential spaces’ design principles for disabled individuals in Northern Cyprus, focusing on Mağusa and Nicosia's social housing, to assess their suitability. The methodology combines qualitative and quantitative analyses. Qualitatively, it includes a literature review on design principles for disabled access and an overview of residential spaces. Quantitatively, it employs a structured questionnaire with three sections: demographics, accessibility, and housing features, using a 1–5 scale (1 being Very Poor, and 5 being Very Good). Approximately 160 questionnaires were distributed, with 147 used in the study. The findings reveal challenges with sidewalk accessibility and toilet design, indicating dissatisfaction with residential designs. Social housing in Famagusta and Nicosia also falls short of universal design standards for the disabled. Despite these issues, residents are relatively satisfied with the living room and kitchen spaces. Overall, the research concludes that Northern Cyprus residential designs inadequately address the special needs of disabled individuals, particularly regarding circulation spaces and overall quality.

Abstract Background The study on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL) of disabled patients is rare but critical for welfare of patients. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of fixed implants in edentulous areas on OHRQoL in Korean disabled patients. Methods The OHRQoL of 63 disabled individuals was evaluated using the Oral Health Impact Profile (OHIP)-14 questionnaires and studied by potential affecting variables such as age, sex, disability severity, and time of disability acquisition. Wilcoxon-signed rank tests were used to examine the OHIP-14 scores for those who had pre/post-fixed implants. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to examine the relationships between factors and OHIP-14 scores before and after implants. A partial correlation analysis was also performed to determine which variables influenced OHIP-14 scores before and after treatment. The system of long-term care for the disabled and elderly people has to attract investments and produce a social effect. The purpose of the study is to assess the social performance of the of long-term care system for the disabled and elderly citizens in the Stavropol Krai on the basis of the original author’s approach. Methods: description and literature analysis, analytical and statistical methods of data processing, indirect anonymous survey. The author analyzes the scientific literature to form the conceptual and categorical apparatus. The survey uses multi-stage typological sampling. The indirect survey involved 500 respondents; the expert survey – 20 experts in the field of social services and long-term care. The research shows that the system of long-term care for the disabled and elderly people is a priority at the federal and regional levels and has a high social performance. The practical significance of this study lies in the development and implementation of the original methodology for assessing the social performance of the long-term care system.

This article discusses the problem of the position of a disabled person appearing in executive criminal proceedings. Due to the wide range of topics concerning both the disability itself and the rights and obligations of people with disabilities in various aspects of life, the author focuses on issues related to the position of a disabled person in the course of executive proceedings. In particular, the considerations concern the access of a disabled person, including a convicted disabled person, to a court, understood not only as a constitutional right, but also the use and access to a building intended for the needs of the judiciary. Due to not only domestic, but also international legal regulations introducing solutions in the field of enabling and facilitating the effective participation of disabled persons in conducted proceedings, the situation of disabled persons as parties to enforcement proceedings has significantly improved in terms of securing their rights and obligations. This is manifested in particular by better access for people with disabilities to buildings, signage in buildings in Braille and in forms easier to read and understand, and finally by providing assistance from officials and employees as well as other people, including professional representatives or sign language interpreters.

Bu çalışma, günümüzde ve bütün dünyada önemli konulardan biri olan engellilik meselesini ele alan teorik bir çalışmadır. Çalışmada engellilere yönelik tutumlar ve görüşler sosyolojik açıdan incelenir. Bu bağlamda bedenin ötekileştirilmesi ve yeniden inşa edilmesi üzerine konuşulan sosyal teorisyenlerin düşünceleri ele alınmıştır. Teorik kavramlarla ilgili literatür taraması yapılarak gerçekleştirilen bu çalışma, engellilere yönelik olumsuz tutumların her zaman olduğunu öne sürmüş ve bu durumu yönetim, üretim ve tüketim konuları ile ilgili değerlendirmiştir. Engelli, bedeninde belli bozuklukların olmasıyla ve bu bozukluklar sebebiyle toplumsal hayatta arka plana itilen birey olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Engellilik, her zaman insan bedeniyle ilişkili olarak yorumlandığından beden, yönetim ve üretim gibi konularla beraber, insanlığın bütün yaşam süreci boyunca tartışılan konuya dönüşmüştür. Ayrıca tarihe baktığımızda engelli kimseler hep ötekileştirilen, dışlanan, izole edilen, ölüme terk edilen bireyler olarak görünmektedir. Günümüzde ise engelli bireyler yasal olarak toplumun diğer üyeleriyle eşit haklara sahip olsa bile, engellilere yönelik olumsuz tutumlardan dolayı günlük yaşamda zorluklar çekmektedir. “Engelliler, hiçbir şey yapamayan, başkalarına bağımlı insanlar” gibi olumsuz görüşler nedeniyle engelli bireyler topluma aktif olarak katılamamakta ve yoksullukta yaşayan dezavantajlı grup içerisinde yer almaktadır. Engellilerin bu durumda yaşamasının sebebi de hasta bedenin ötekileştirilmesidir. Makalenin amacı da engelliliği bedenin ötekileştirilmesine dair tartışılan düşünceler üzerinden açıklamaktır.

Disabled group "Argodadi Pinilih" has 40 active members. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused some members to lose their jobs. Members of the disabled group began to try to cultivate oyster mushrooms in their homes and they also carried out their own maintenance. Some “baglog” cannot grow mushrooms because the environment where the mushrooms grow does not meet the requirements. The problems faced by the disabled group "Argodadi Pinilih" are low quantity and quality of oyster mushrooms, limited skills in making processed food from mushrooms and mushroom marketing is still limited. The objectives of this community empowerment activity are (a) increasing the quantity and quality of mushroom production (b) improving skills in the manufacture of processed food made from mushrooms, (c) expanding the mushroom market share. The methods used in the implementation of empowerment activities are (a) counseling on oyster mushroom cultivation and marketing strategies (b) training on processing food from oyster mushrooms, (c) facilitation house of mushroom and baglog. The results of the empowerment show that the training, mentoring and facilitation of mushroom house and “baglog” can increase the quantity and quality of oyster mushroom production, improve the skills in making processed food from mushrooms and expand the market share of oyster mushrooms. The knowledge and skills of the disabled group members about mushroom farming and processing increased as evidenced by the pre-test score of 79.23 and post-test of 86.00 with an increase 8.54%.

Introduction: Disabled people are special social groups that are more exposed to deprivation and lack of benefit from social opportunities and facilities due to physical or mental defects. The current research was conducted with the aim of sociological analysis and understanding of the lived experience of disabled people in Ahvaz city in facing family and society. Method: This research is of a qualitative type and uses data-foundation theory. The statistical population of the research is all people with disabilities over 15 years of age in Ahvaz city who visited rehabilitation centers, welfare and disabled people's association in the first quarter of 1401. The necessary qualitative data were collected using "semi-structured interviews". Findings: The results obtained from the bio-experiment of the disabled show that their understanding of the family's encounter with disability is based on kindness, psychological measures, meeting needs, pity, excessive support, imposing restrictions, feeling powerless, denying disability. Their needs have been suppressed and neglected. Also, the codes of verbal abuse, physical abuse, social exclusion, social interaction, violation and lack of law, lack of executive guarantee, lack of fun and entertainment, transportation challenges and job inequality are among the categories of their perception and understanding of the society's encounter with the disabled and It was their disability. Discussion: In short, it can be said that the interviewed disabled people did not have much confidence in society's positive attitude towards disability, and they preferred seclusion, loneliness and isolation in the face of society. Also, in relation to social interactions, they did not have much communication and they considered the lack of awareness of the people of the society about the rights of the disabled and how to deal with them as very important and effective.

Table tennis is a sport that is enjoyed by many, including those with physical and intellectual disabilities. This scoping review summarised the current test protocols for assessing table tennis technical proficiency in individuals with disabilities. Relevant articles were searched through four databases (Scopus, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, and Web of Science) covering three key aspects: disability, table tennis, and technical proficiency. The search resulted in 14 studies included for data extraction, covering physical impairments, intellectual disability, and development coordination disorder. Almost all studies (93%) were conducted on well-trained para-table tennis athletes competing in high-level competitions. There exist protocols to assess service accuracy and stroke accuracy, hand–eye coordination, quality of specific skills and ball control, functional reach, and trunk rotation. The forehand topspin and backhand topspin drives were tested the most. Table tennis robots and video cameras are the common equipment used. Moving forward, future research should develop technical proficiency tests for players across all competency levels. The skill assessment criteria and scoring methods should be standardised and clearly explained. The validity and reliability of tests should be established. Lastly, there is great potential in using artificial intelligence to enhance the assessment of table tennis proficiency in individuals with disabilities.

Over the past two decades, there has been a growing shift away from the Social Model of Disability (SMD) in both theory and practice. This article aims to substantiate the relevance of SMD by addressing the main arguments against it and by identifying why and for whom it is still relevant. In the introductory section, we focus on the recent production of multiple disability models in order to contextualize their emergence and elucidate the reasons behind their proliferation. In the main section of the article, we critically engage with three lines of criticism against SMD in order to explain why it remains relevant and for whom. Our main point is that, in the context of the neoliberal capitalist era, the SMD is indispensable for all disabled persons who have been denied their dignity, both in material and cultural terms.

Physical inactivity is a major 21st century public health problem for people with disabilities. The practice of sport in an augmented reality environment appears to be an interesting alternative to promote physical practice for people with disabilities. In this article, our research study will be based on the one hand on the impact and the capacity to increase motivation in rehabilitation by augmented reality (AR) with this population and on the other hand on the degree of acceptability of physical activity (PA) using avatars modeled in three dimensions (3D).

This study explored: 1) the understanding and skills of teachers in managing PAI learning based on religious moderation for people with disabilities; 2) the form of religious moderation in the teaching of PAI based on religious moderation for people with disabilities; and 3) factors that influence the teaching of religious moderation in religious moderation-based PAI teaching for people with disabilities. Descriptive qualitative field research method was used in this study. The results of the study revealed that: 1) The ability of teachers in carrying out learning was quite good; 2) The forms of religious moderation that are accustomed to the extraordinary schools of Bengkulu city, including attitudes of tolerance, tolerance, egalitarian (equality), caring (empathy), compassion and mutual help or mutual assistance, and responsibility; and 3) Factors that influence the implementation of Islamic religious education learning activities based on religious moderation for the disabled at special schools in Bengkulu city, including supporting factors (stakeholder commitment, facilities and infrastructure, rules and curriculum) and inhibiting factors (knowledge, parental commitment), and teacher commitment).

Abstract Background Developing machine learning models to support health analytics requires increased understanding about statistical properties of self-rated expression statements used in health-related communication and decision making. To address this, our current research analyzes self-rated expression statements concerning the coronavirus COVID-19 epidemic and with a new methodology identifies how statistically significant differences between groups of respondents can be linked to machine learning results. Methods A quantitative cross-sectional study gathering the “need for help” ratings for twenty health-related expression statements concerning the coronavirus epidemic on an 11-point Likert scale, and nine answers about the person’s health and wellbeing, sex and age. The study involved online respondents between 30 May and 3 August 2020 recruited from Finnish patient and disabled people’s organizations, other health-related organizations and professionals, and educational institutions (n = 673). We propose and experimentally motivate a new methodology of influence analysis concerning machine learning to be applied for evaluating how machine learning results depend on and are influenced by various properties of the data which are identified with traditional statistical methods. Results We found statistically significant Kendall rank-correlations and high cosine similarity values between various health-related expression statement pairs concerning the “need for help” ratings and a background question pair. With tests of Wilcoxon rank-sum, Kruskal-Wallis and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) between groups we identified statistically significant rating differences for several health-related expression statements in respect to groupings based on the answer values of background questions, such as the ratings of suspecting to have the coronavirus infection and having it depending on the estimated health condition, quality of life and sex. Our new methodology enabled us to identify how statistically significant rating differences were linked to machine learning results thus helping to develop better human-understandable machine learning models. Conclusions The self-rated “need for help” concerning health-related expression statements differs statistically significantly depending on the person’s background information, such as his/her estimated health condition, quality of life and sex. With our new methodology statistically significant rating differences can be linked to machine learning results thus enabling to develop better machine learning to identify, interpret and address the patient’s needs for well-personalized care.

The material presented in this paper was derived from research on sources of current literature that address global sanitation problems, especially in Uganda. Information gathered from interviews with Ugandans provided a vital component. The paper presents background information on the sanitation issues faced by Ugandan children in general and by individuals with physical disabilities in particular. It reviews the global progress being made to achieve international goals of sanitation and hygiene and compares them to the situation in Uganda. In particular, the paper sheds light on how, in the past two decades, Uganda has made meaningful strides with regard to equal rights and societal inclusion for individuals with disabilities, including access to improved sanitation facilities as well as regulations to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of public facilities. However, these achievements do not include assistive technologies that can enable the physically disabled to use the many sanitation resources such as pit latrines in rural areas. Finally, the paper describes research that focuses on a marginalized group of disabled Ugandans who are excluded from the solution landscape.

This paper presents a viable solution that evolved over several years of research to mitigate the sanitation problems faced by individuals in rural areas of Uganda, particularly those with disabilities, addressed in our first paper (Schmachtenberger et al.). The solution is based on interviews and contacts with affected individuals in Lira, Northern Uganda, where the most commonly used sanitation facility is a pit latrine. To that end three types of design considerations and requirements for effective pit latrine assistive devices were adopted in the development of the technology discussed in this paper. Ultimately, three different designs were fabricated after synthesizing the requirements, preliminary user feedback, and engineering knowledge of mechanical design. The deliverables from these designs are three different assistive devices whose common feature is a portable seat that can be used safely in a pit latrine. The good results from several field tests engendered the development of more locally reproducible and cost-effective, assistive seat devices over a period of 3-5 years. Results from data collected over the years will be published in another manuscript, subsequently.

The aim of the study is to investigate the sociodemographic characteristics, psychiatric diagnosis, disability rate and psychiatric dependency status of patients who applied for the health board report of disability and the differences emerged after the regulation change dated February 20, 2019. Data of 1315 individuals aged 18 and over who were evaluated between September 1, 2018 and August 31, 2019 were retrospectively analyzed, and the data of those patients evaluated before and after the regulation change were compared. 56.2% of the cases were male, 43.8% were female. The median age was 46. 32.8% of the patients were assigned a report due to mental illness. The rate of those diagnosed with a disability rate of 40 % and above was found to be 22.4 %. When the severe disability / full dependency assessments of patients with a disability rate of 50% and above were compared according to the old and new regulations. There was no significant difference between the groups. As a referee hospital, the initial assessment of 16.1% of the applicants as “not severely disabled” and 1% of the applicants as “severely disabled” was changed to “partially dependent”.In psychiatric cases, the level of functionality should be evaluated multidimensionally in relation to the course of the disease and various factors specific to the patient. It is thought that the intermediate rate “partially improves with treatment” and the definition of “partially dependent” brought to certain diseases by the new regulation can be a solution for the patients who lie in between.

İçinde yaşadığımız iç mekânlardan dış mekânlara, yapılı çevrenin genellikle ortalama bireyler göz önünde bulundurularak tasarlanması erişilebilirlik sorunlarına neden olmaktadır. Yapılı çevrede herkes için eşit koşulların sağlanması şüphesiz ki erişilebilirliğin sağlanmasıyla gerçekleşmektedir. Bu doğrultuda herkes için eğitim hakkının sağlanması da yapılı çevrenin erişilebilir olmasıyla doğrudan ilişkilidir. Eğitim alanları özellikle de üniversite yerleşkeleri kullanıcı çeşitliğini oluşturan tüm bireyler için bütün alanların ve unsurların erişilebilir ve kullanılabilir olması son derece önemlidir. Üniversite yerleşkelerinde, herkes için erişilebilirlik, evrensel tasarım/kapsayıcı tasarım veya herkes için tasarım gibi kavramlar son yıllarda yerleşke planlamada dikkate alınmaya başlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Düzce Üniversitesi Konuralp yerleşkesinin engelli kullanıcılar için mevcut erişilebilirlik durumu ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Elde edilen tespitler sonucunda kampüs alanındaki erişilebilirlik sorunlarının neler olduğu ortaya konularak erişilebilirlik haritası oluşturulmuştur. Bu çalışmanın ilgili alanda mevcut erişilebilirlik sorunların tespiti konusunda bir kaynak oluşturma ve üniversite yerleşkelerinde bu şekilde yapılacak çalışmalar ile eğitim alanlarında evrensel erişilebilirlik anlayışının oluşturulmasına katkı sağlayacağı düşünülmektedir. Çalışmanın nihai amacı ise erişilebilirlik olanaklarını ortaya koymak ve bu doğrultuda erişilebilirlik haritası oluşturmaktır.

Objective: When it comes to identifying and developing talent in sports for athletes with disabilities, it is important to note that high-performance sports for people with disabilities are fundamentally different from those of healthy people in terms of discovering and developing new talents. Extraordinary performances and success in sports for the disabled and providing an environment for the development of talents such as non-sports for the disabled is simply not possible and the success or failure of sports depends on factors such as: economic, social and human resources in a country. The present study aimed to provide a paradigm model of the characteristics of the talent development environment of Paralympic athletes.Methodology: This research has been done in the framework of a qualitative approach and by applying the data research method of the foundation. Participants in this study were physical education and sports science specialists, Paralympic and world champion athletes and disabled sports coaches who were selected by purposive and theoretical sampling for semi-structured interviews and the interviews continued until the theoretical saturation stage. Data were analyzed simultaneously with data collection using Strauss and Corbin method. The acceptability of the data was confirmed based on 5 criteria.Results: The results show that 15 main categories and 76 subcategories in the form of 6 dimensions of the paradigm model include: 1- Causal causes including 4 categories: individual, cultural, economic and social factors; 2- The main phenomenon includes 1 category: a special approach to cultivating sports talent for the disabled; 3- Strategy includes 2 categories: management system design, process-oriented strategy; 4- Ground characteristics including 3 categories: planning, support, supportive background; 5- The intervener includes 2 categories: infrastructural factors, environmental factors; 6- Outcome includes 3 categories: successful disability, championship, development of sports abilities of the disabled; The paradigm model is the characteristics of the talent development environment of Paralympic athletes.Conclusion: The integration of categories based on the relationships between them around the axis of the talent development environment of paralympic athletes forms a paradigm model reflecting the pattern of managers involved in the talent development environment of Paralympic athletes.

Background The COVID-19 pandemic and other humanitarian emergencies exacerbate pre-existing inequalities faced by people with disabilities. They experience worse access to health, education, and social services, and increased violence in comparison with people without disabilities. Adolescents with disabilities are amongst those most severely affected in these situations. Using participatory research methods with adolescents can be more effective than other methods but may be challenging in such emergency contexts. Objectives We conducted a scoping review to: 1) describe the literature and methods used in peer-reviewed and grey literature on adolescents (aged ten to nineteen) with disabilities’ experience of COVID-19 and other humanitarian emergencies in low- and middle-income countries, and 2) identify research gaps and make recommendations for future research. Methods The review followed a protocol developed using PRISMA guidelines and the Arksey and O’Malley framework. We searched grey and peer-reviewed literature between 2011 and 2021. Results Thirty studies were included. Twelve were peer-reviewed, and of those seven used participatory methods. Humanitarian emergencies had adverse effects on adolescents with disabilities across health, education, livelihoods, social protection, and community participation domains. Surprisingly few studies collected data directly with adolescents with disabilities. Twenty-three studies combined data from non-disabled children, caregivers, and disabled adults which made it challenging to understand adolescents with disabilities’ unique experience. Conclusions Our review highlights both the scarcity of literature and the importance of conducting research with adolescents with disabilities in humanitarian contexts. Despite challenges, our review shows that it has been possible to conduct research with adolescents with disabilities to explore their experiences of humanitarian emergencies, and that these experiences were different from those of non-disabled adolescents. There is a need to disaggregate findings and support the implementation and reporting of rigorous research methods. Capacity development through partnerships between non-governmental organisations and researchers may improve reporting of methods.

Purpose: Disability is a biosocial reality that is defined as an obstacle to a person’s ability in doing an activity in a natural position. People with disabilities are the largest minority in the international community, and more than two-thirds of the world’s disabled people are living in developing countries. The present study aimed to identify and prioritize the most important needs of the disabled in order to design and plan suitable services for Iranian public libraries. Method: The present research is an applied study in terms of purpose, a descriptive-analytical one in terms of nature, and a survey in terms of the method of implementation, and was conducted during a particular period. The statistical population of this study consisted of all physically disabled, blind and visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing people aged 15 and over 15 who were under the auspices of the Welfare Organization. Using sample power software, the sample population for every group of disabled consists of 82 people that were selected by multi-stage cluster sampling among 10 provinces of Iran. The data gathering tool was 3 researcher-made questionnaires which were used in two print (paper) and online formats. Two questionnaires related to the deaf and physically disabled, in addition to the paper questionnaire, were designed in the online format using WordPress. The questionnaire for the blind was designed by Google Form due to the need to coordinate with screen reader software. To analyze data, SPSS version 23 was used. Findings: Friedman statistical test was used to rank the needs. The result of the study showed that expert librarians with proper behaviors, having Elevator or Lift if the library is multi-storey building, and supporting the need of disabled by managers and other responsible people were the most important needs for physically disabled persons. In the blind and visually impaired group, having elevator with a braille button if the library is multi-storey building, allocating suitable budget for providing related resources and providing access to full catalogs of audiobooks in Iranian public libraries via the Internet, were in the top priorities. Among the deaf and hard of hearing people, holding group programs and recreational trips, presence of translators familiar with sign language skills and holding sign language classes were among the top third high-priority needs. Originality/value: Up till now, no research has been conducted on a population as wide-ranging as the population of this research to consider diverse needs of three groups of the disabled. Public libraries can help empower the disabled people and provide them with equal access to information by considering various needs of them, thus providing a better life conditions for them.

BACKGROUND: By reviewing the literature, no work has emerged about the presence of a Palliative Care Network dedicated to the Italian disabled pediatric population. however, there is an increase in the prevalence of children with ingrained illness and / or serious disabilities who are in need of such treatment. The difficulty in defining when a child becomes incurable persists. Along with the diagnosis of incurability, the other crucial factor is the extent of "care needs". OBJECTIVES: the aim of the study is to build an assessment tool for defining access criteria to Pediatric Palliative Care for patients with advanced illness and / or severe disability. B METHODS: an observational, prospective, multicenter study was conducted, by using the Clinical Assessment Tool (CAT) scale, which has been proposed by the paediatric hospice of Padua (Italy) without formal validation. We studied a non-randomized sample of 101 patients from five healthcare facilities in Northern Italy. We modified the CAT scale by adding items from other tools used in Palliative Care. The study was divided into two periods at a distance of one month, in order to assess the patients’ clinical evolution. RESULTS: internal consistency of the CAT tool was good ​​(alpha=0.83). Explorative factor analysis showed acceptable loadings on each item. Positive and negative predictive values ​were 0.97 and 0.98, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: the scale is reliable in identifying individuals in need of Pediatric Palliative Care and seems a promising tool for assessing the needs for palliative care in children with ingrained illness and/or severe disability.

Türk hukukunda kamu hizmetine girme hakkı, 1982 Anayasası’nın 70. maddesinde düzenlenmiştir. Anayasa’da siyasi haklar statüsünde düzenlenmiş olan kamu hizmetine girme hakkının içeriği ve kapsamı, kanunlar ve yargı kararları ile ortaya konmuştur. Kamu hizmetine girme hakkı bir başka temel hak olan çalışma hakkının bir boyutunu oluşturmaktadır ve kişinin maddi ve manevi gelişiminin sağlanması ile insan onuruna yakışır bir yaşam sürmesi bakımından gereklidir. Toplumsal hayata diğer bireyler ile eşit şekilde katılamayan engelli bireyler de, anayasal bir ilke olan eşitlik ilkesi gereği kamu hizmetine girme hakkına sahiptirler. Ancak yasa önünde eşitlik anlayışı engellilerin kamu hizmetine girmesi bakımından yeterli değildir. Bu nedenle anayasalar ve diğer hukuki düzenlemeler bağlamında engellilerin kamu hizmetine girmesi bakımından pozitif ayrımcılık teşkil edecek çeşitli uygulamalar öngörülmektedir. 657 sayılı Devlet Memurları Kanunu’nda da kamuda engelli istihdamı için kota uygulaması düzenlenmiştir. Engelli bireylerin bu kota kapsamında istihdam edilmeleri amacıyla “EKPSS” isimli ayrı bir sınav öngörülmüştür. Bu sınav haricinde de engellilerin kamuda istihdam edilmesi mümkündür, aksini öngören yargı kararları hukuka aykırı olacaktır. Engelli bireylerin, kamu idareleri ve kurumlarının kamu personeli alımı için açmış olduğu ilanlara başvurabilmeleri için getirilen özel şartların ayrımcılık teşkil etmemesi gerekmektedir. İdarenin bu tarz işlemleri eşitlik ilkesine aykırılık anlamına gelir. Bu çalışma kapsamında kamu hizmetine girme hakkı ve engelli bireylerin bu hakkı kullanması bakımından önemli görülen bazı hukuki hususlar ele alınmaktadır.

Abstract Background The mental health impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantining on children and young people (CYP) living in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) has yet to be fully comprehended. CYP in LMICs are at utmost risk, given the COVID-19-related restrictions and social distancing measures, resulting in reduced access to school-based services for nutritional and mental health needs. This study examined mental health of CYP during the first COVID-19 lockdown in Zambia and Sierra Leone. Method A total of 468 disabled and disadvantaged CYP aged 12 to 25 completed a planning tool that comprised the short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS), as well as open-ended questions covering social connectedness, physical distancing and educational challenges during the lockdown. The community coaches screened individuals and families who could be eligible to receive emergency aid, and based on a convenience sample following distribution of aid, recipients were invited to complete the planning tool. Results The data showed that participants in the global south have increasing anxieties and fears centred on accessing offline educational resources and income loss in the family effecting food security and their ability to return to education. Mean (SD) SWEMWBS scores for all participants in Zambia and Sierra Leone, were 19.61 (3.45) and 21.65 (2.84), respectively. Mental well-being scores were lower in females, children aged 12–14 and participants with two or more disabilities. Factors significantly associated with poor mental wellbeing in the sample were: type of disability, nationality, peer relationships, connection to others during the pandemic, knowledge about COVID-19, worry about the long-term impact of COVID-19, and the types of self-isolating. Conclusion The study shows that participants who self-reported low levels of COVID-19 health literacy also scored low on the mental wellbeing self-assessment. Yet, despite undoubted limited resources, these CYP are doing well in identifying their needs and maintaining hope in the face of the problems associated with COVID-19 in countries where stigma persists around mental ill-health.

Objective: Providing desirable rehabilitation services to people with disabilities has always been one of the most critical concerns of the health system in all countries. Today, it is crucial for policymakers and health care providers to recognize the different systems for providing rehabilitation services to people with disabilities. In this regard, it is beneficial to conduct comparative studies and use successful countries’ experiences in this subject. This comparison-analytical study aimed to compare the systems for providing rehabilitation services to people with disabilities. Materials & Methods: This comparative study was conducted in nine countries in 2020. To determine the comparison framework in this research, four dimensions of health systems’ functions were used based on the 2000 report of the World Health Organization. The countries were compared in dimensions of stewardship, resource production, financing, and service provision. Findings obtained from each country were presented separately in the comparative tables. The model used in this comparative study was based on the Beredy Model that contains four stages of description, interpretation, proximity, and comparison. In the present study, the purposive sampling method was used. The statistical population included rehabilitation systems globally, and the research examples were Iran, China, Turkey, India, the USA, Mexico, Germany, England, and South Africa. Criteria for entering the research according to the functional model of the World Health Organization were the availability of data and selecting at least one country from each continent of America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Results: The findings showed that in Iran, the Welfare Organization was responsible for providing rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, while in other countries, it was the Ministry of Health. Also, to compare resource production, two staff training indicators and access to comprehensive national data were used. In all countries studied, the training of specialized human resources is done through the university system. Iran, India, and Mexico did not have full access to comprehensive national data, but the United States, Germany, China, South Africa, and Turkey provided the platform for planning and policy-making. Moreover, funding in Germany, the United States, China, and Turkey is mainly provided through the insurance system. In the United Kingdom, it is mainly provided through tax, but in Iran, it is provided through subsidies from the public revenues and taxes. Finally, besides the private sector, rehabilitation services in Iran’s public sector were provided incoherently by various organizations. Some of these organizations are the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the Exceptional Education Organization, the Red Crescent, the State Welfare Organization, and the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation, while in other countries, these services are often provided through hospitals and the private sectors. Conclusion: Despite the numerous strengths in the system of providing rehabilitation services to the disabled in Iran, the integration of the rehabilitation sectors of various organizations within the Ministry of Health not only increases the inter-sectoral and intra-sectoral coordination, the coherence of management, and unified policy, but also leads to reduced costs, proper allocation of resources and increased financial resources in this sector. Besides, it leads to a reduction in overlapping tasks and responsibilities and prevention of duplication of work, training of specialized personnel based on the needs, and finally providing more desirable services. Therefore, policymakers and planners must review and reform the laws and processes to form a system for providing rehabilitation services to the disabled in Iran.

Fatalism is believing in the impact of superhuman power or external forces like chance/luck in life. This research was conducted for a comparative study of fatalism among disabled and non-disabled people. In this research, a survey method was used. 200 people with physical disabilities, cerebral palsy (CP) and blindness and 200 non-disabled people from Yazd in 2018 were selected. Available quote sampling method was used to select disabled people and systematic cluster sampling was used to select non-disabled people. Data collection tools include the responsibility scale of Ahmadi Akhorme et.al (1392), the ability of Peterson and Seligman (2004), Weissman & Beck`s (1978) dysfunctional attitudes and researcher questioner made by fatalism. Data were analyzed in two independent groups by statistical mean difference, T-test, Pearson correlation, ANOVA and multivariate regression test. The average fatalism is 48.3 in disabled people and 45 in non-disabled people. The result of hypothesis showed that the measure of fatalism is higher in disabled people. In disabled people, there was a significant/meaningful relationship between fatalism and the studied variables such as education (with meaningful level, age, severity of disability, inefficient attitudes, empowerment and responsibility. In non-disabled people, there was a meaningful relationship between fatalism and inefficient attitude variables and empowerment, but there wasn’t any significant relationship between fatalism and other studied variables. The result of regression analysis showed that inefficient attitude variables and ability had the greatest effect on fatalism in disabled and non-disabled people and only people and only 16 percent of Variance explains fatalism.

This article is rooted in the narratives of four disabled people with obvious impairments within higher education institutions (HEI). Their lived experiences highlight how the adoption of the neoliberal agenda by HEIs has ensured the continued exclusion of disabled academics. This article shares how the implementation of mainstream business structures, and the business ethos, has been experienced by disabled academics seeking equality of education and professional academic opportunities. It demonstrates the personal impacts that can occur when institutions vehemently value income over inclusion and when academic staff adhere to these standards. If the doors to academia were closed to disabled people in the past, neoliberalism has surely locked them.

Öz: Ülkeler sosyal politika kapsamında engellilerin istihdamını sağlamak ve onları topluma kazandırmak amacıyla çeşitli yollar ve yöntemler üzerinde çalışmaktadırlar. Bu yöntemler arasında en yaygın kullanılanlar; zorunlu kota uygulaması, belirlenmiş iş uygulamaları, korumalı işyeri uygulamasıdır. İşgücü piyasalarına kazandırılmaları güç olan zihinsel engelli bireyler rehabilite edilerek ve mesleki beceriler kazandırılarak istihdamlarına olanak sağlamak amacıyla; korumalı işyerleri uygulaması hayata geçirilmiştir. Türkiye’de korumalı işyeri uygulaması, hem mali hem teknik açıdan devlet tarafından desteklenmektedir. Ayrıca engelli bireylerin çalışabileceği ortam özel olarak düzenlenmektedir. Korumalı işyeri uygulaması, engellilerin özellikleri ve engel durumlarına uygun bir çalışma ortamının sağlanması durumunda başarılı olabilen ancak uygulanması oldukça güç bir sistemdir. Bu çalışmada, engelli kavramı ve istihdam bağlamında engelliler irdelenerek, Türkiye’de korumalı işyerleri kapsamında zihinsel engelli bireylerin istihdam edilebilirlikleri ve korumalı işyerinin uygulanabilirliğinin belirlenmesinin yanı sıra sosyal entegrasyonlarına yönelik etkileri tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada Manisa Organize Sanayi Bölgesi (MOSB) yönetimindeki Z.E.K.İ projesi örneği üzerinden değerlendirme yapılmıştır. Abstract: Countries work on a variety of ways and methods in order to ensure the employment of disabled people and to reintegrate them into society as required by social policies. Among these methods, the most common ones are; Compulsory quota application, designated business applications, sheltered workplace application. The scheme of Sheltered Workplace has been put into practice so that those who are mentally disabled are rehabilitated and provided with occupational skills in order to enhance the probability of their being recruited in the labour force. The scheme of protected workplaces which is carried out in Turkey are supported by the state, both financially and technically. Furthermore, the environment in which the disabled can work is specially designed according to their specific needs. Bearing in mind that the implementation of protected workplaces is rather difficult to carry off, the success of the scheme depends on creating a work environment which is appropriate for the specific needs and characteristics of the disabled. The aim of this study is to examine the concept of disabled and the paradigm of disability employment. It is intended to assess the prospect of recruitment of mentally disabled people and their integration to society. Furthermore, the study endeavors to determine whether the scheme of protected workplaces is attainable or not. The Project called Z.E.K.İ. which is implemented by the management of Manisa Organized Industrial Zone has been used as a model in this study.

Abstract Background Family caregivers are critical partners in the plan of care of people with disabilities. The study aims to demonstrate the factor structure and internal consistency of the Caregiver Burden Inventory (CBI) among the studied caregivers of disabled persons and to determine the effects of patients’ and caregivers’ characteristics on the burden and its dimensions. Methods A cross-sectional study among 260 family caregivers of disabled patients was carried out in a randomly chosen rural area, Minia, Egypt, 2019. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted to determine the factorial validity of the CBI. Multiple linear regression was used to identify the significant factors affecting the burden. Results Factor analysis resulted in a five-factor solution using 20 items (four for each dimension) accounting for 72.7% of the total variance. The CBI and its dimensions showed high internal consistency (Cronbach’s alpha value > 0.70). Education of caregiver, family income, mental impairments, and mixed disabilities were significant predictors of total CBI burden. Conclusions CBI is an effective multidimensional measure of the caregiver burden of disabled subjects. Caregivers experienced a distinct level of burden that is determined by caregiver and care recipient characteristics. Therefore, support and individualized counseling services should be optimized.

The growth of disabled elderly with mobility constraints particularly in developing countries including Nigeria is becoming worrisome. The study examined travel behaviour and mobility challenges of disabled elderly in four cities in Ogun State, Nigeria. Purposive and convenient sampling methods were used to administer 400 questionnaire and data elicited were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. Findings revealed that most of respondents were male (69.5%), aged between 66-70 years (43.5%), and characterized with visual impairment (62%). On travel behaviour, majority generated about 10 trips a week (68.5%), through tricycle (45.5%) and basically for medical purposes (81%). Mobility challenges faced by respondents are mostly deplorable road (92%), inaccessibility to public transport (84%), poor public vehicle condition (76%) and longer-waiting time at bus stops (70%). These challenges have been blamed on weak policy framework and systematic withdrawal of governmentin public transport investment. Purpose: It’s aimed in this study to investigate the attitudes of physical education prospective teachers who had special education lessons towards disabled ones. Material: The quantitative sample of the study consisted of 214 [n = 84 female, n = 130 male] physical education prospective teachers and the qualitative sample consisted of 19 physical education prospective teachers. Data collected with Findler, Vilchinsky and Werner (2007), “Multidimensional Attitude Scale for the Disabled” and which is adapted in Turkish according to Turkish culture by Yelpaze and Türküm (2018), and with a semi-structured interview form. Independent sample t test and one way anova were used in the analysis of quantitative data. Descriptive and content analysis used for qualitative data analysis. Results: There is no significant difference according to gender and being close to individuals with special needs. It is found that there is a difference between thoughts and behaviors according to the experiences of having special education and students with special needs. In the qualitative part of the research, the theme was “Inability to describe emotions”,“ Positive attitude”, “Feeling benefical” and “Insufficient attention”. Conclusions: It is clear from the study that having special education and experienced with special needed people effected thinking attitudes of prospective teachers. However, a decrease concluded about behavior attitudes then after having special education and experiences with disableds. Qualitative findings explain those results like content and extent of special education is not good enough.

Researchers defined Internet as a medium for overcoming the social exclusion of marginal groups, including the disabled. The increasing of the internet penetration in Indonesia should be an opportunity for the group to build inclusive elections. However, in the Indonesian context, non-disabled still controls virtual political space. This paper identifies the potential of the internet as a means of online political participation of disabled groups. Using the case study method in the context of 2018 Central Java Pilgub, researchers conducted in-depth interviews with the disabled, election organizers and disabled educational institutions in the Semarang city. The findings of the study indicate that certain diffables (physical, deaf and mild disabilities) have access to the internet, however there is no access to the interactive political communication. The internet has not functioned optimally as an Assistive Technology (AT) mainly caused by digital divide; skepticism to the internet and limited internet literacy.

Severe gastrointestinal symptoms are one of the main reasons for switching from conventional artificial tube feeding to blenderized tube feeding (BTF). This study aimed to describe and quantify the impact of BTF on gastrointestinal symptoms in children and adults. We analyzed four databases (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar). The review was performed following the PRISMA extension for Scoping Reviews checklist. The methodological quality of articles was assessed following the NIH quality assessment tools. The initial search yielded 535 articles and, after removing duplicates and off-topic articles, 12 met the inclusion criteria. All included papers unanimously converged in defining an improvement of gastrointestinal symptoms during blenderized feeding: the eight studies involving pediatric cohorts report a decrease from 30 to over 50% in gagging and retching after commencing BTF. Similar rates are reported for constipation and diarrhea improvement in most critically ill adults. Experimental studies and particularly randomized controlled trials are needed to develop robust evidence on the effectiveness of BTF in gastrointestinal symptom improvement with prolonged follow-up and adequate medical monitoring.

Background: The aim of this review of the literature was to find and summarize relevant research evidence available within the scientific sources and gray literature in accordance with the JBI recommendations. Search question: What effect does Basal Stimulation have on the cognitive–behavioral functions or temperament of a preterm or disabled infant? Methods: The following sources were searched: PSYCINFO, MEDLINE, PsycArticles, ERIC, Wiley Online Library, ProQuest Scopus, WOS, JSTOR, Google Scholar, and MedNar. The study contains an analysis of texts that have been published in the English, Czech, and German languages. The search time span was set at 15 years. Results: A total of 15 sources were found for the specified topic. Conclusions: In all cases, there was confirmation about the positive influence of the concept of “Basal Stimulation” on the cognitive–behavioral functions and temperament of premature and disabled children.

One of the sectors of society that, due to their lack of physical health, is always faced with many disabilities, whether in the use of public services or citizenship or active participation in society, these are disabled. Attitudes based on the discrimination of people with disables in society are based on assumptions about people with disables that are completely incompatible with their disability. Media is one of the tools that has been used to change people's attitudes. Especially, social media content is produced and selected by the community compare to media and newspapers are more attentive. This research is considered the role of media in changing the attitude of the citizens of Tehran based on the Elaboration likelihood model (ELM), that media explanation social network. This research is a descriptive survey and the statistical population of this research is citizens of Tehran (over eighteen). The results show that focus on central route content producing in the social network has an impact on cognitive attitudes, emotional attitudes and readiness attitudes for action. Also, focus on peripheral route content producing in the social network has an impact on cognitive attitudes and emotional attitudes, but it hasn’t impact readiness attitudes for action.

Goalball has been highlighted as a reference disabled sport from educational levels to its participation in the Paralympic Games, where the effects of this sport on balance and its relevance have been investigated. The aim of the systematic review was to systematically review those studies that evaluated the effects of goalball on balance in goalball athletes. A systematic review of PubMed and FECYT (Web of Sciences, CCC, DIIDW, KJD, MEDLINE, RSCI, and SCIELO) was performed according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The articles were included if they met the following inclusion criteria: (i) participants were goalball players; (ii) athletes playing goalball; (iii) outcomes were related to balance; and, (iv) original articles without language restriction. From the 85 studies initially identified, 7 were fully reviewed, and their outcome measures were extracted and analyzed. In conclusion, the levels of balance seem to be closely related to the success of competitions, leading coaches to consider its development during training sessions. In this sense, the general practice of goalball may be sufficient at children’s levels, while the practice of 2 days or 5 h per week seems to be an adequate reference. However, athletes with partial levels of visual loss should not be subjected to continuous blinding during training sessions because it could lead to an accelerated reduction in balance levels.

Background: Participatory action research (PAR) provides an opportunity for academic researchers and adolescents to co-conduct research within an area of shared interest. Reciprocal learning occurs as co-researchers acquire research skills and knowledge, and academic researchers gain understanding of the issue being examined, from the perspective of those with lived experience. All members of the research team have a shared responsibility for the research and decision-making processes. PAR has predominantly involved adults as co-researchers. However, in recent years more effort has been made to co-conduct research with adolescents. The aim of this review is to interrogate the practices of academic researchers employing a PAR approach when working along-side disabled adolescents. Methods/design: A critical interpretive synthesis (CIS) will be conducted, allowing for a diverse range of evidence to be drawn from. A systematic search of nine databases, from 1990 onwards, will be conducted first. Reference checking will occur to elicit further relevant data. Following screening, further purposive sampling will be completed to facilitate the development of concepts and theory in line with the on-going analysis and synthesis of findings. Data analysis will involve interpretation of included papers in relation to the principles of PAR and a ‘best-practice’ framework will be developed. During analysis particular emphasis will be given to the identification of potential social barriers to the participation of disabled adolescents in PAR. Discussion: PAR is widely employed but little is known about its use when working with disabled adolescents. This current CIS will critically question the current practices of academic researchers employing PAR when working along-side disabled adolescents and future research through the best practice framework we will develop.

People with disabilities live a life that is harder than other parts of society because of a number of physical, psychological or social factors. Women with disabilities have both the difficulties of being “disabled” and “women”. The difficulties of being a disabled person and the expectations of the society cause the woman to be unhappy due to her disability and have difficulty accepting this situation. Therefore, psychological support to these individuals who have problems is very important in terms of mental health of the society. Psychological assistance services can be individual or group oriented. The aim of the study is to examine the quality of life of physically disabled women participating in group counseling and their opinions about group counseling process. As a research design, one-group post-test model was used. Quantitative and qualitative data collection tools were used in the study. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. In the evaluation of the results, frequency (f) and percentage (%) values are used and also direct quotations are given. The findings were discussed in the light of the related literature

Introduction: The contemporary studies seek to describe the appropriate environments for athletic talent development by changing procedure instead of talent identification, which is a tedious process that sometimes does not yield the desirable result. Accordingly, some studies have described the athletic talent development environment, but only a few studies have described Paralympic athletic talent development environment. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to describe Para-Asian and Paralympic athletic talent development environment. Materials and Methods: The current research was a descriptive-correlational study. The study participants consisted of 150 athletes (46 women and 104 men) who participated in the teenage and youth Para-Asian and Paralympic games between the years 2014-2018. The participants were selected using convenience sampling method. In this study, Talent Development Environment Questionnaire for Sport was used. This questionnaire comprises seven subscales: “long-term development focus”, “quality preparation”, “communication”, “understanding the athlete”, “support network”, “challenging and supportive environment”, and “long-term development fundamentals”. The obtained data were analyzed using one-sample t test. Results: The means of the four subscales of “long-term development focus” (P = 0.001), “communication” (P = 0.001), “challenging and supportive environment” (P = 0.001), and “long-term development fundamentals” (P = 0.001), were higher than average. The means of the two subscales of “support network” (P = 0.450) and “understanding the athlete” (P = 0.360) were at a moderate level. The mean of “quality preparation” (P = 0.035) was less than average. Conclusion: In talent development environment for athletes with disability, more attention should be paid to providing the athletes with continuous and always-available support of coaching staff as well as services and facilities. Additionally, the coaches should pay more attention to the athlete’s physical and mental health; so that the athlete feels his/her health is important to the coach.

The growing population of elderly and disabled people not only in Europe but also all over the world needs a special support and service, developed the new emerging new niche as an accessible tourism in tourism industry. Accessible tourism enables people with access requirements, including mobility, vision, hearing and cognitive dimension of access, to function independently and with equity and dignity through the delivery of universally designed tourism products, services and environments. The creation of artworks by individuals depends on various individual and social factors. In this regard, due to the close relationship between artistic creation and physical and spiritual ability, issues regarding the possibility and how to create a work of art by people with disabilities are raised. Deleuze's philosophy affirms that the creation of a work of art does not require a special organization nor does it necessitate the physical development of mankind; hence, it is possible to create a work of art without an organized body and a disabled person can easily create a magnificent artwork through the power of his senses. This research follows a qualitative method and by the aid of library studies it seeks to study of the effects of photography of disabled photographers who describe the philosophy of the body without any parts as the main component of the art of photography to transfer the power of art, creation and scrutiny in photography. In this study, the works of Pete Eckert and Ahmad Zorkarnian as artists with disabilities are examined. The findings of the study indicate that people with disabilities can also create a fragmented but perfect artistic creation based on the view of Deleuze's body, which is based on emotion and senses. Relying on the philosophy of the body, physical disability does not prevent the creation of a work of art in photography; therefore, by understanding the concept of existence and sensation in art, people with disabilities can create works of art that are alive and spectacular.Research aims:To investigate the possibility of eliminating physical disability in photography based on Deleuze's body philosophy.To recognize the effect of physical and mental factors in creating a work of art.Research questions:What is the role of senses in the works of art of the photographer according to Deleuze's body philosophy?What physical and mental factors play a role in the artist's creation of his works of art?

The integration of people with disabilities into the working world is an important, yet challenging field of research. While different inclusion efforts exist, people with disabilities are still under-represented in the open labor market. This paper investigates the approach of using a collaborative robot arm to support people with disabilities with their reintegration into the workplace. However, there is currently little literature about the acceptance of an industrial robot by people with disabilities and in cases where a robot leads to stress, fear, or any other form of discomfort, this approach is not feasible. For this reason, a first user study was performed in a sheltered workshop to investigate the acceptance of a robot arm by workers with disabilities. As a first step in this underdeveloped field, two main aspects were covered. Firstly, the reaction and familiarization to the robot arm within a study situation was closely examined in order to separate any effects that were not caused by the moving robot. Secondly, the reaction toward the robot arm during collaboration was investigated. In doing so, five different distances between the robot arm and the participants were considered to make collaboration in the workplace as pleasant as possible. The results revealed that it took the participants about 20 min to get used to the situation, while the robot was immediately accepted very well and did not cause fear or discomfort at any time. Surprisingly, in some cases, short distances were accepted even better than the larger distances. For these reasons, the presented approach showed to promise for future investigations.

Background: Quarantine, social distancing, and restricted movement and social interaction due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have been reported reduce physical activity across several countries. However, few studies have evaluated the changes in physical activity patterns before and after COVID-19 among people with disabilities. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate how physical activity participation has changed during COVID-19 among people with disabilities in South Korea. Methods: This study was conducted among 3871 persons with disabilities, aged 10–69 years, who participated in the 2020 Sports Survey for the Disabled conducted by the Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in March 2020. This survey collected data regarding participants’ demographic characteristics (age, gender, etc.) and disability along with the type of physical activity (intensity, frequency, time, etc.), method (facilities, home training, classes/lectures, club), and type (swimming, resistance training, walking and jogging, etc.) of participation in physical activity before and after COVID-19. A chi-squared frequency test was performed to confirm the difference in the ratio of participation frequency, time, intensity, and method and type of physical activity before and after COVID-19. Results: After the COVID-19 outbreak, the frequency, duration, and intensity of physical activity of people with disabilities were reduced compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, in terms of physical activity participation method, attendance of classes, lectures, and clubs decreased, while physical activity at home increased. In participation types of physical activity, participation in walking and jogging, gymnastics, mountain climbing, and cycling increased, whereas swimming, weight training, and other activities decreased. Conclusion: Public health guidelines and social distancing due to COVID-19 have reduced the frequency, duration, and intensity of physical activity, while changing the types and methods of participation in physical activity for people with disabilities. Therefore, public health support to promote adherence to physical activity should be needed.
