The ability to implement strategic priorities of digital development and intensify the activities of various stakeholders (government, science, business, enterprises) in high-tech sectors are necessary conditions for the successful development of the country and solving economic problems. A key affiliation related to digitalization issues has been highlighted. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, those accents (availability of digital technologies, impact on managerial and institutional spheres, sectoral and territorial features, applied significance) on which researchers focus their attention, are identified. The directions are systematized depending on the digitalization of individual objects, including the necessary elements of digitalization.

Abstract The current experiments searching for neutrinoless double- $$\beta $$ β ( $$0\nu \beta \beta $$ 0 ν β β ) decay also collect large statistics of Standard Model allowed two-neutrino double- $$\beta $$ β ( $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β ) decay events. These can be used to search for Beyond Standard Model (BSM) physics via $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β decay spectral distortions. 100Mo has a natural advantage due to its relatively short half-life, allowing higher $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β decay statistics at equal exposures compared to the other isotopes. We demonstrate the potential of the dual read-out bolometric technique exploiting a 100Mo exposure of 1.47 kg $$\times $$ × years, acquired in the CUPID-Mo experiment at the Modane underground laboratory (France). We set limits on $$0\nu \beta \beta $$ 0 ν β β decays with the emission of one or more Majorons, on $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β decay with Lorentz violation, and $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β decay with a sterile neutrino emission. In this analysis, we investigate the systematic uncertainty induced by modeling the $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β decay spectral shape parameterized through an improved model, an effect never considered before. This work motivates searches for BSM processes in the upcoming CUPID experiment, which will collect the largest amount of $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β decay events among the next-generation experiments.

In 2020, one of the main negative factors affecting the development of the tourism sector was the COVID-19 pandemic. Complicating the economic situation due to the coronavirus crisis for developing countries and local communities that are disproportionately dependent on tourism threatens the growth of poverty in these countries, not to mention the possibility of developing the tourism industry on a sustainable basis. The article examines the situation in the tourism industry of Ukraine, which has arisen as a result of the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, and analyzes the possibilities of recovery and development of the tourism industry based on sustainable tourism. Based on the analysis of statistical data and the study of the level and trends in the development of the tourism business at the global and national levels, the authors proposed practical directions for the recovery of the tourism industry in the context of COVID-19, which will be beneficial not only for Ukraine but for developing countries as well. It is shown that the crisis in the tourism industry, which arose as a result of quarantine restrictions to reduce the spread of the pandemic, has complicated the process of implementing the Sustainable Tourism Concept for countries with low economic performance. It has been proven that the further development of tourism in developing countries based on cooperation and consistency of measures is needed to regulate travel at the bilateral, regional and international levels, to ensure safety for travellers and workers. Bringing together the government, the public, and the business community to work on a practical and implementable plan to revive the tourism sector. Increasing investment in technology, green infrastructure and jobs.

Little is known about the role of remote and sparsely populated Arctic coastal zones in the microplastic cycle. Distribution of microplastics was studied in the Svalbard fjords in June – July 2022 with the main goal of assessing rivers’ role in the fate of microplastic in Arctic coastal waters. Surface microplastics (0 – 20 cm depth, 500 – 5000 µm size) were sampled with a neuston net in triplicate per study site in parallel with sampling of subsurface microplastics with a pump system (1.5 m depth, 100 – 5000 µm size). The central part of Isfjorden and its several branches covering populated and unpopulated fjords were studied; the sampling was conducted during an intense riverine discharge in all studied sites. Maximum abundance of surface microplastics (71,400 items/km2 or 0.19 iterms/m3, 0.19 mg/m3) was found along the river plume border in the middle of populated Adventfjorden indicating importance of both local sources and surface hydrodynamics in the formation of microplastics accumulation hotspots. All other unpopulated fjords were free of the floating on the sea surface microplastics as river discharge prevented transport of microplastics inside the fjords. The highest concentration of subsurface microplastics was found in the central part of Isfjorden and the lowest – in river plume waters, which also indicates the removal of microplastics from the inner part of fjords during an intensive river discharge. Our results may suggest that Arctic rivers flowing through unpopulated areas bring clean water and thereby reduce level of microplastic pollution in the coastal waters. In contrast to the rest of the world’s ocean, rivers are not the main source of microplastic pollution in the Arctic Ocean.

Chemical reactivity of the superheavy elements nihonium (Nh, element 113) and moscovium (Mc, element 115) has been studied by the gas-solid chromatography method using a new combined chromatography and detection setup. The Mc isotope, 288Mc, was produced in the nuclear fusion reaction of 48Ca ions with 243Am targets at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum Darmstadt, Germany. After isolating 288Mc ions in the gas-filled separator TASCA, adsorption of 288Mc and its decay product 284Nh on silicon oxide and gold surfaces was investigated. As a result of this work, the values of the adsorption enthalpy of Nh and Mc on the silicon oxide surface were determined for the first time, −∆HadsSiO2Mc=54−5+11 kJ/mol and −∆HadsSiO2Nh=58−3+8 kJ/mol (68% c.i.). The obtained −ΔHads values are in good agreement with results of advanced relativistic calculations. Both elements, Nh and Mc, were shown to interact more weakly with the silicon oxide surface than their lighter homologues Tl and Bi, respectively. However, Nh and Mc turned out to be more reactive than the neighbouring closed-shell and quasi-closed-shell elements copernicium (Cn, element 112) and flerovium (Fl, element 114), respectively. The established trend is explained by the influence of strong relativistic effects on the valence atomic orbitals of these elements.

We report the generation of a gene-edited human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line from an Alzheimer’s disease patient-derived iPSC line harbouring the PSEN1 H163R mutation. This line demonstrates pluripotent stem cell morphology, expression of pluripotency markers, and maintains a normal karyotype.

Supraventricular macro re-entry tachyarrhythmias occupy the leading places among all types of tachyarrhythmias. The most common in this category is typical atrial flutter (AFL). This heart rhythm disorder has a negative impact on the patients’ quality of life. Its complications can lead to disability and death due to possible thromboembolism. Therapeutic treatment is limited in effectiveness. The main method of intervention is catheter radiofrequency ablation (RFA). The standard approach of RFA of AFL is performed without the use of navigation systems under fluoroscopy guidance. However, this results in an increased radiation exposure to the patient and the medical personnel. Modern technologies in the field of invasive electrophysiology make it possible to create anatomical models of heart and reproduce the spread of electrical excitation. However, the routine use of additional navigation methods remains controversial. The aim. To compare the duration of RFA of typical AFL and radiation exposure with the use of anatomical and propagation mapping. Materials and methods. This study is based on the analysis of the treatment results obtained for 53 patients at the National Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery in the period from 2014 to 2023. Depending on imaging methods, the patients were divided into two groups. The first group included 27 patients with an anatomical mapping of the right atrium. The second group included 26 patients with propagation mapping. Results. In all the patients we have achieved a bidirectional conduction block through cavotricuspid isthmus. In the first group, the total duration of confirming the diagnosis and creating the anatomical model was 312 ± 26 seconds. The mean time to the moment of AFL termination and restoration of sinus rhythm was 230 ± 19 seconds. The average duration of the procedure was 41.5 ± 3.5 minutes, the average fluoroscopy time was 120 ± 10 seconds, the average dose area product (DAP) was 15 ± 1.3 Gy·cm2. In the second group, the average time for creating a 3D propagation model of right atrium and verifying the diagnosis was 748 ± 65 seconds. The average time from the first application to the termination of tachycardia was 227 ± 20 seconds. The average duration of the procedure was 55 ± 4.7 minutes, X-ray time was 93 ± 8 seconds, average DAP was 13 ± 1.1 Gy·cm2. The duration of the procedure in the second group was significantly longer (p = 0.03), however, the radiation exposure and DAP were not statistically different (p = 0.31) between the observation groups. Conclusions. The use of propagation mapping increases the time of the procedure by 24.5% and does not give a significant advantage in reducing the radiation exposure. The use of a navigation system during cavotricuspid isthmus RFA is recommended for concomitant radical treatment of complex supraventricular arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation.

Atrial tachyarrhythmias cause highly symptomatic conditions and have a negative impact on the patients’ quality of life (QoL). In the management of such patients, it is particularly important to consider not only objective indicators, but also the subjective well-being of patients and their everyday life. The patho-specific questionnaire for assessing the QoL is the ASTA symptom scale. The aim of the work was to conduct a patho-specific assessment of the QoL using the ASTA protocol after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for atrial tachyarrhythmias on the example of performed cavo-tricuspid isthmus (CTI) RFA among patients with typical atrial flutter. Materials and methods. In total, 135 patients from the National Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery were asked to complete the ASTA questionnaire before CTI RFA and during two follow-up visits in the period from 2014 to 2021. To assess the patients’ QoL, a statistical analysis was performed in accordance with the 6th part of chapters 2 and 3. Results. When analyzing complaints, statistically significant changes were found in all aspects compared to the initial state (p < 0.05). The most noticeable changes were related to the anxiety level and heart failure manifestations, in particular, dyspnea on exertion and at rest, weakness and exhaustion (p < 0.0001). The least but also statistically significant changes were associated with comorbid pathologies. Analyzing the third chapter, positive statistically significant dynamics were observed in all characteristics during the control period. After RFA, the patients reported improvements in their QoL, decreased level of depression and restored physical activity (p < 0.0001). There was also a significant improvement in social life, as there were no more restrictions in spending time with relatives and friends (p < 0.0001). In addition, there was an improvement in the ability to concentrate and in the working capacity (p < 0.0001). Conclusions. Atrial tachyarrhythmias significantly affect the QoL of patients, including their emotional, physical state and social integration, worsening the daily lives of the study participants.

Abstract. Atrial tachyarrhythmias are the most common forms of heart rhythm disorders. According to literature sources, isolated atrial flutter (AFL) is observed in 88 people per 100,000 population. Most quality-of-life assessment methods have been developed and used primarily to assess atrial fibrillation. In this context, the U22 questionnaire becomes a significant protocol aimed at quantifying paroxysmal symptoms associated with tachyarrhythmias. The aim. To evaluate changes in the quality of life in patients with typical AFL after radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and bidirectional conduction block through the cavotricuspid isthmus. Materials and methods. The study is based on the analysis of the results of the treatment of a group of 135 patients at the National Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in the period from 2014 to 2021. The patients had three follow-up examinations, which were subject to analysis and static processing: before RFA (n=135), after 1 month (n=122) and after 1 year (n=81). All the patients were interviewed concerning their arrhythmia-related symptoms, which were assessed according to the U22 protocol. Results. Before the procedure, the patients noted a low level of well-being (4.3±1.0 points). During the follow-up visit 1 month after RFA, the patients rated their general condition during this period at 8.9±0.7 points. Macro-re-entrant atrial tachyarrhythmias occupy the leading positions in the structure of tachyarrhythmias, and one of the most common in this group is atrial flutter. These abnormal rhythms lead to a significant decrease in the quality of patients’ life, and sometimes, indirectly due to complications, can lead to disability and fatal consequences. Medical treatment for this group of arrhythmias has limited effectiveness, and the surgical method of treatment – catheter ablation – comes to the first place. Ablation of atrial flutter is traditionally performed under the guidance of fluoroscopy without the use of a navigation system, but this is associated with increased radiation exposure to patients and staff. Advances in modern arrhythmology make it possible to create anatomical models of heart chambers and activation models of the excitation spreading along anatomical models, reducing the radiation load, but requiring additional equipment and skills. Aim: to compare the procedure duration and radiation load during radiofrequency catheter ablation of the cavo-tricuspid isthmus using 3D navigation with traditional methods. Materials and methods. The work was based on the analysis of treatment results in 84 patients at National M. Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery affiliated to National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine in the period from 2014 to 2021. Depending on the imaging method, patients were divided into 2 groups. Group I included 31 patients who underwent radiofrequency cavo-tricuspid isthmus (CTI) ablation according to the traditional method under fluoroscopic control without using a navigation system. Group II comprised 27 patients in whom an anatomical model of the right atrium was created. Results. Success criteria were achieved in all groups, bidirectional block line was created at the level of the CTI. In group I, the average time from the first application to the restoration of sinus rhythm was 325 ± 25 s with an average number of applications of 7.4 ± 0.6 (from 5 to 10). The average procedure time was 43.0 ± 3.3 min, with an average X-ray time of 572 ± 44 s and an average dose area product (DAP) was 62.0 ± 5.0 Gy.cm2. In group II, the total duration of the first stage of the intervention was 312 ± 26 s. The average time to stopping tachycardia and restoring sinus rhythm was 230 ± 19 s. The average time from sinus rhythm restoration to confirmation of bidirectional CTI block was 71 ± 6 s with an average number of applications of 3.2 ± 3.0 per the procedure. The average procedure time was 41.5 ± 3.5 min, the average X-ray time was 120 ± 10 s, the average DAP was 15.0 ± 1.3 Gy.cm2. Conclusions. The usage of the anatomical model of the right atrium reduces X-ray exposure by 75.8 %, in comparison to the traditional technique, during radiofrequency catheter ablation of the cavo-tricuspid isthmus with similar procedure time. The anatomical model can be recommended for ablation of the cavo-tricuspid isthmus.

Climate change and anthropogenic impacts drastically affect the biogeochemical regime of the Black Sea, which contains the largest volume of sulphidic water in the world. The Sea’s oxygen inventory depends on vertical mixing that transports dissolved oxygen (DO) from the upper euphotic layer to deeper layers and on dissolved oxygen consumption for the oxidation of organic matter (OM) and reduced species of S, Fe, and Mn. Here we use a vertical one-dimensional transport model, 2DBP, forced by Copernicus data, that was coupled with the FABM-family N-P-Si-C-O-S-Mn-Fe Bottom RedOx Model BROM. The research objective of this study was to analyze the oxygen budget in the upper 350 m of the Sea and demonstrate the role of the parameterization of the acceleration of the sinking of particles covered by precipitated Mn(IV). The analysis of the oxygen budget revealed distinct patterns in oxygen consumption within different depths. In the oxic zone, the primary sink for DO is the mineralization of organic matter, whereas in the suboxic zone, dissolved Mn(II) oxidation becomes the predominant sink. The produced Mn(IV) sinks down and reacts with hydrogen sulphide several meters below, making possible the existence of the suboxic layer without detectable concentrations of DO and H2S.

The oxidation of tetraselenatetracene (TSeT) by tetracyanoquinodimethane in the presence of dysprosium(III) tris(hexafluoroacetylacetonate), DyIII(hfac)3, produces black crystals of {TSeT1.5}●+[DyIII(hfac)4]− (1) salt, which combines conducting and magnetic sublattices. It contains one-dimensional stacks composed of partially oxidized TSeT molecules (formal averaged charge is +2/3). Dimers and monomers can be outlined within these stacks with charge and spin density redistribution. The spin triplet state of the dimers is populated above 128 K with an estimated singlet-triplet energy gap of 542 K, whereas spins localized on the monomers show paramagnetic behavior. A semiconducting behavior is observed for 1 with the activation energy of 91 meV (measured by the four-probe technique for an oriented single crystal). The DyIII ions coordinate four hfac− anions in [DyIII(hfac)4]−, providing D2d symmetry. Slow magnetic relaxation is observed for DyIII under an applied static magnetic field of 1000 Oe, and 1 is a single-ion magnet (SIM) with spin reversal barrier Ueff = 40.2 K and magnetic hysteresis at 2 K. Contributions from DyIII and TSeT●+ paramagnetic species are seen in EPR. The DyIII ion rarely manifests EPR signals, but such signal is observed in 1. It appears due to narrowing below 30 K and has g4 = 6.1871 and g5 = 2.1778 at 5.4 K.

Abstract CUPID-Mo, located in the Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane (France), was a demonstrator for the next generation $$0\nu \beta \beta $$ 0 ν β β decay experiment, CUPID. It consisted of an array of 20 enriched Li $$_{2}$$ 2 $$^{100}$$ 100 MoO $$_4$$ 4 bolometers and 20 Ge light detectors and has demonstrated that the technology of scintillating bolometers with particle identification capabilities is mature. Furthermore, CUPID-Mo can inform and validate the background prediction for CUPID. In this paper, we present a detailed model of the CUPID-Mo backgrounds. This model is able to describe well the features of the experimental data and enables studies of the $$2\nu \beta \beta $$ 2 ν β β decay and other processes with high precision. We also measure the radio-purity of the Li $$_{2}$$ 2 $$^{100}$$ 100 MoO $$_4$$ 4 crystals which are found to be sufficient for the CUPID goals. Finally, we also obtain a background index in the region of interest of 3.7 $$^{+0.9}_{-0.8}$$ - 0.8 + 0.9 (stat) $$^{+1.5}_{-0.7}$$ - 0.7 + 1.5 (syst) $$\times ~10 ^{-3}$$ × 10 - 3 counts/ $$\Delta E_{\text {FWHM}}/\text {mol}_{\text {iso}}/\text {year},$$ Δ E FWHM / mol iso / year , the lowest in a bolometric $$0\nu \beta \beta $$ 0 ν β β decay experiment.

The editors of the "Municipality: Economics and Management" journal have the honor to introduce our distinguished guest - Vladimir Vladimirovich Yakushev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Urals Federal District. Despite being busy, Vladimir Vladimirovich found an opportunity to answer the editors’ questions in a conversation with Oleg Vasilievich Gushchin, Director of the Ural Institute of Management - branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. Official reference. V. V. Yakushev was born on June 14, 1968 in the city of Neftekamsk (currently, the Republic of Bashkortostan), although he spent a significant part of his childhood, as well as his youth, in the city of Nadym, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In 1985 he entered the Pskov branch of the Leningrad Polytechnical Institute. Having finished the first year of studies he served in the ranks of the Soviet Army. In 1993, V.V. Yakushev graduated from the Tyumen State University with a degree in Law and for several years successfully worked in the bank sector of the economy. The further Vladimir Vladimirovich’s labor activity is connected with the public authorities. In the period from 2001 to 2005 – he was the Vice-Governor of the Tyumen Region. From November 2005 to May 2018, V. V. Yakushev three times was the governor of the Tyumen region. For two years, he worked as the Minister of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation. From November 2020 up to now - the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Head of the Russian state in the Urals.

Summary: Background: Inflammatory demyelinating diseases of the central nervous system, such as multiple sclerosis, are significant sources of morbidity in young adults despite therapeutic advances. Current murine models of remyelination have limited applicability due to the low white matter content of their brains, which restricts the spatial resolution of diagnostic imaging. Large animal models might be more suitable but pose significant technological, ethical and logistical challenges. Methods: We induced targeted cerebral demyelinating lesions by serially repeated injections of lysophosphatidylcholine in the minipig brain. Lesions were amenable to follow-up using the same clinical imaging modalities (3T magnetic resonance imaging, 11C-PIB positron emission tomography) and standard histopathology protocols as for human diagnostics (myelin, glia and neuronal cell markers), as well as electron microscopy (EM), to compare against biopsy data from two patients. Findings: We demonstrate controlled, clinically unapparent, reversible and multimodally trackable brain white matter demyelination in a large animal model. De-/remyelination dynamics were slower than reported for rodent models and paralleled by a degree of secondary axonal pathology. Regression modelling of ultrastructural parameters (g-ratio, axon thickness) predicted EM features of cerebral de- and remyelination in human data. Interpretation: We validated our minipig model of demyelinating brain diseases by employing human diagnostic tools and comparing it with biopsy data from patients with cerebral demyelination. This paper is devoted to the study of the chemical and biological properties of river waters and the relationship between them. We examined the hydrochemical and bacterial properties of surface water in 3 waterbodies: the Mezha River, a pond in Zapovedny village (Central Forest Nature Reserve, Tver Oblast) and the lower reaches of the Don River (Rostov Oblast). The biodiversity of bacteria was determined based on their growth on dissolved organic matter (DOM). Among bacterioplankton capable of growing on DOM as the only source of carbon, the predominant species in the Don River were Pseudomonas and Deinococcus, in the Mezha River – Pseudomonas and Janthinobacterium, in the pond – Arcicella. In terms of sanitary and microbiological indicators, none of the waterbodies complied with the Sanitary Rules and Regulations 1.2.3685- 21 for surface waters. The content of most of the studied elements and heterotrophic bacteria in stagnant waterbodies was lower than in flowing streams. The concentration and activity of heterotrophic bacteria in the studied waters correlated positively with the content of biophilic elements in them and negatively with the absence of a current. We showed that there is a strong correlation between bacterial and chemical indicators due to common factors: eutrophication, features of the physical and geographical conditions of the territory, and the presence of a current or animal waste products.

Despite ongoing research into microplastics pollution in the Arctic Ocean, the region remains underexplored. In the Eurasian Arctic studies mainly focus on the Barents Sea, while there are only limited and variable data from few stations in the Kara Sea. The study aims to perform an extensive survey of microplastics floating on the sea surface in the Kara Sea. The sampling throughout the Kara Sea was carried out using a neuston net in the August 2021 starting from the Kara Gate strait, reaching 83N latitude and ending in the north-eastern part of the Barents Sea along the border with the Kara Sea. Average abundance of microplastics was 0.124 ± 0.383 items/m3 in the Kara Sea. The Kara Gate exhibited the highest abundance of microplastics (0.93 ± 0.73 items/m3), suggesting that it is an important source of the microplastics pollution of the Kara Sea. The results suggest that the Ob and Yenisey rivers do not substantially contribute to the microplastic pollution of the Kara Sea due to significantly lower concentrations in the river plume water (0.008 ± 0.009 items/m3) compared to the other regions of the Kara Sea. Further, the river plume differs in chemical composition of microplastics dominated by expanded polystyrene (EPS) particles (52%) in contrast to other regions where the predominant polymer is polyethylene (PE) (64-77%). The study highlights the potential of the Kara Sea to accumulate the microplastics due to its semi-enclosed nature and complex interaction between inflow of waters originating from the North Atlantic and Ob-Yenisey river plume.

The article is aimed at studying human capital in order to create a model for assessing human capital to achieve higher enterprise efficiency and enhance its competitiveness in the market. The results of scientific and thematic studies on the concept, elements and methods of evaluating human capital have been determined and summarized. It has been determined that the approaches of individual authors, companies and analytical institutions are different, and there is a frequent use of simpler indicators that can be calculated based on the financial statements of companies. In particular, Armstrong notes that there is a difference in how human resource management is theoretically described and how it is applied in practice. The mere replacement of the term “personnel management” with the term “human resource management” does not mean that managers actually apply the main components of the philosophy of human resource management in their approach. From the definition of human capital, it follows that its components are knowledge, experience, skills, talent, competencies, etc. These components simultaneously become the main object of effective management in companies and give names to specific types of management, such as knowledge management, talent management, competent management, anti-crisis management, generation management, etc. The resulting model inherently covers separate blocks for assessing human capital efficiency at two levels, summarizing the theoretical starting points. This is the procedural side of evaluating the effectiveness of the LK itself, which is the central part of the complex approach of the MLK, taking into account its specifics, based on their identification, definition and comparison of opinions about this concept described in the professional literature and other sources. It has been proven that the components of human capital are the main objects of effective management in companies that change the strategic vector aimed at achieving the maximum possible profit, towards creating company value, using non-financial categories. The close relationship between the competitiveness of an enterprise with the use of unique human capital resources has substantiated. A model for evaluating the effectiveness of human capital is proposed in order to increase the competitiveness of an enterprise in the market, taking into account external and internal influencing factors. It has been established that the implementation of measures to assess the effectiveness of human capital can lead to the following effects: a decrease in undesirable turnover of personnel with a high level of human capital, in the development of which funds have already been invested; support of labor motivation of employees through a fairly established remuneration; exchange of knowledge and experience directly related to labor activity, which is a potential opportunity for the stable development of the human capital of the enterprise; improving the image of the enterprise through the introduction of new technologies; creation of a new product based on the results of monitoring competitors’ products and in accordance with modern requirements and customer expectations; positioning the company as a sought-after employer, which is a guarantee of obtaining and retaining qualified personnel.

Abstract The future Ricochet experiment aims at searching for new physics in the electroweak sector by providing a high precision measurement of the Coherent Elastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering (CENNS) process down to the sub-100 eV nuclear recoil energy range. The experiment will deploy a kg-scale low-energy-threshold detector array combining Ge and Zn target crystals 8.8 m away from the 58 MW research nuclear reactor core of the Institut Laue Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France. Currently, the Ricochet Collaboration is characterizing the backgrounds at its future experimental site in order to optimize the experiment’s shielding design. The most threatening background component, which cannot be actively rejected by particle identification, consists of keV-scale neutron-induced nuclear recoils. These initial fast neutrons are generated by the reactor core and surrounding experiments (reactogenics), and by the cosmic rays producing primary neutrons and muon-induced neutrons in the surrounding materials. In this paper, we present the Ricochet neutron background characterization using $$^3$$ 3 He proportional counters which exhibit a high sensitivity to thermal, epithermal and fast neutrons. We compare these measurements to the Ricochet Geant4 simulations to validate our reactogenic and cosmogenic neutron background estimations. Eventually, we present our estimated neutron background for the future Ricochet experiment and the resulting CENNS detection significance. Our results show that depending on the effectiveness of the muon veto, we expect a total nuclear recoil background rate between 44 ± 3 and 9 ± 2 events/day/kg in the CENNS region of interest, i.e. between 50 eV and 1 keV. We therefore found that the Ricochet experiment should reach a statistical significance of 4.6 to 13.6 $$\sigma $$ σ for the detection of CENNS after one reactor cycle, when only the limiting neutron background is considered.

Abstract Despite growing interest in cognitive interventions from academia and industry, it remains unclear if working memory (WM) training, one of the most popular cognitive interventions, produces transfer effects. Transfer effects are training-induced gains in performance in untrained cognitive tasks, while practice effects are improvements in trained task. The goal of this study was to evaluate potential transfer effects by comprehensive cognitive testing and neuroimaging. In this prospective, randomized-controlled, and single-blind study, we administered an 8-week n-back training to 55 healthy middle-aged (50–64 years) participants. State-of-the-art multimodal neuroimaging was used to examine potential anatomic and functional changes. Relative to control subjects, who performed non-adaptive WM training, no near or far transfer effects were detected in experimental subjects, who performed adaptive WM training. Equivalently, no training-related changes were observed in white matter integrity, amplitude of low frequency fluctuations, glucose metabolism, functional and metabolic connectivity. Exploratory within-group comparisons revealed some gains in transfer tasks, which, however, cannot be attributed to an increased WM capacity. In conclusion, WM training produces transfer effects neither at the cognitive level nor in terms of neural structure or function. These results speak against a common view that training-related gains reflect an increase in underlying WM capacity. Instead, the presently observed practice effects may be a result of optimized task processing strategies, which do not necessarily engage neural plasticity.

The work is devoted to mathematical modeling of a DC motor rotation speed control system based on the use of a PI controller. DC motors are widely used in industry for driving cyclical mechanisms where high speed response, high starting torque, linear control are required. The main methods for controlling the required characteristics of the speed of rotation of a DC motor with independent excitation are to control the parameters of the armature and excitation windings fed from different sources. The PI controller is widely used in programmable logic controllers due to the simplicity and clarity of the mathematical apparatus. The proposed mathematical model of the PI controller is based on the choice of optimal parameters that ensure that the actual speed is kept close to the set one. The optimum PI controller coefficients KP and KI have been determined to give the best result for a constant speed. The results of computer simulation in MatLab are compared with the results of simulation on a laboratory setup. The data are obtained when using the PI controller for the steady-state error and transient time look preferable to the simulation model with voltage regulation. The developed mathematical model shows the following main results: acceleration time < 0,3 s; transient process time < 0,5 s; overshoot does not exceed 0,5 %; the steady-state error does not exceed 0,1 %. As a result of the study, a mathematical model is developed and the operation of a DC motor with a PI controller is analyzed, which makes it possible to almost completely eliminate forced oscillations and a steady-state error. The advantage of the proposed method of using the PI controller is noted as a more familiar and easy-to-use control element when implemented in existing control systems without any special changes.

Abstract The CUPID-Mo experiment to search for 0 $$\nu \beta \beta $$ ν β β decay in $$^{100}$$ 100 Mo has been recently completed after about 1.5 years of operation at Laboratoire Souterrain de Modane (France). It served as a demonstrator for CUPID, a next generation 0 $$\nu \beta \beta $$ ν β β decay experiment. CUPID-Mo was comprised of 20 enriched $$\hbox {Li}_{{2}}$$ Li 2 $$^{100}$$ 100 $$\hbox {MoO}_4$$ MoO 4 scintillating calorimeters, each with a mass of $$\sim 0.2$$ ∼ 0.2 kg, operated at $$\sim 20$$ ∼ 20 mK. We present here the final analysis with the full exposure of CUPID-Mo ( $$^{100}$$ 100 Mo exposure of 1.47 $$\hbox {kg} \times \hbox {year}$$ kg × year ) used to search for lepton number violation via 0 $$\nu \beta \beta $$ ν β β decay. We report on various analysis improvements since the previous result on a subset of data, reprocessing all data with these new techniques. We observe zero events in the region of interest and set a new limit on the $$^{100}$$ 100 Mo 0 $$\nu \beta \beta $$ ν β β decay half-life of $$T_{1/2}^{0\nu }$$ T 1 / 2 0 ν $$> {1.8}\times 10^{24}$$ > 1.8 × 10 24 year (stat. + syst.) at 90% CI. Under the light Majorana neutrino exchange mechanism this corresponds to an effective Majorana neutrino mass of $$\left$$ m β β $$

Catheter ablation occupies the first place in the treatment of atrial macro reentry arrhythmias. The main controllable parameters in ablations are energy, duration of exposure and use of catheter tip cooling. With traditional ablation techniques, there is a high risk of insufficient tissue damage due to electrode instability. Regarding the issue of stability, a new technique was proposed – reducing the application time with increasing the energy. The aim of this work was to compare the results of radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFA) using an 8 mm uncooled electrode to a 4 mm cooled electrode and a 4 mm cooled electrode with increased energy. Materials and methods. The work is based on a retrospective analysis of the results of catheter ablations in patients with atrial flutter. Patients were divided into 3 groups depending on the parameters of the used radio frequency energy and the type of ablation electrode. Results. It was found that in the group with increased energy, there were the shortest time from the start of RFA to the achievement of success criteria and the lowest radiation exposure. The obtained differences were statistically significant in comparison with two groups of patients who underwent traditional methods. Such differences were associated both with a reduction in the time of the application itself due to the use of high energy as well as the need to apply a smaller number of applications owing to a lower probability of the electrode displacement from the target area. Conclusions. The use of a high-energy protocol allows to success criteria for cavo-tricuspid isthmus ablation more quickly compared to traditional techniques (by 30 % and 22 %, respectively) with less radiation exposure (by 27 % and 24 %, respectively). The use of the high-energy protocol does not lead to an increase in the frequency of complications and can be considered safe for clinical use.

Atrial macro reentry tachycardias are the most common tachyarrhythmias in the structure of cardiac arrhythmias in the elderly. Catheter ablations are the gold standard for the treatment of atrial macro reentry arrhythmias, but in the elderly group, the risks of complex ablations often outweigh the benefits. Aim: to determine the optimal volume of catheter ablation in atrial tachyarrhythmia using an implanted pacemaker in elderly patients. Materials and methods. The work is based on a retrospective analysis of the results of surgical treatment of (n = 45) elderly patients (75–90 years) with atrial macro reentry tachycardia, who were previously identified as an artificial pacemaker at the National M. Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery Affiliated to National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine. Patients were divided into 3 groups depending on the response of the reentry tachycardia to electrical pacing (assessed by the difference between postpacing interval (PPI) and tachycardia cycle lens (CL): group І – PPI-CL 20–40 ms; group ІІ – PPI–CL 20–40 ms; group ІІІ – PPI-CL 60 ms and more. Results. In the group I (n = 20) in 100 % of the patients isthmus-dependent reentry tachyarrhythmia was diagnosed and cava-tricuspid isthmus was ablated. In the group ІІ (n = 12) 4 (33 %) patients were diagnosed with reentry tachycardia around the right pulmonary veins, in 8 (67 %) patients – reentrant tachycardia around the mitral valve. In the group ІІІ (n = 13) in 8 (62 %) patients macro reentry around the mitral valve was found, in 3 (23 %) – reentry around the left pulmonary veins, in another 2 (15 %) of the patients – reentry of the left atrial roof. Conclusions. Non-invasive electrophysiological study with pacemaker can be an effective way to study atrial macro reentry tachyarrhythmias. Electrophysiological PPI-SI criteria less than 20 ms can be used as an additional diagnostic criterion for the selection of patients for surgical treatment. Catheter ablation is recommended for elderly patients when the reentry circle is located in the right atrium.

Atrial tachyarrhythmias are becoming more common in the population. The prevalence increases with age. Often, these arrhythmias lead to disability and reduced life expectancy (indirectly through strokes). Drug therapy of atrial tachyarrhythmias reduces symptoms but does not completely resolve issue of treatment. In this regard, surgical treatment (catheter ablation) is preferable. One of the methods of catheter ablation is ablation using radio frequency energy. The key parameters of radiofrequency catheter ablation are the energy delivered to the endocardium and the time of this energy delivery. According to the traditional method, it is customary to use energy of 30 Watts for 30 s at one point. This technique has a disadvantage – in 30 s the electrode can be displaced, and the application of energy has to be repeated. A new strategy was proposed – reducing the application time by increasing the energy to respond to the challenge of high probability of electrode displacement. The aim of this work was to determine the effectiveness of the рhigh-power short-duration protocol. Materials and methods. To carry out this work, we analyzed the surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation with the help of radiofrequency catheter ablation – isolation of the pulmonary veins. In patient group 1, ablation was performed using an irrigated ablation electrode with an energy of 30 Watts and an application time of 30 s, in group 2 – using the irrigated electrode with the energy of 70 Watts and the application time of 5 s. Ablations were performed under the control of radiography and electroanatomical mapping system. Full electrical isolation of the four pulmonary veins with confirmation of the entrance and exit block were considered as the criteria of efficiency. Results. When comparing the groups by the number of required application cycles during the procedure needed to achieve the clinical effect and time to the first recurrence in all positions of the electrode, group 2 showed a lower number of applications and shorter time to the first recurrence. Reducing the time to pulmonary vein isolation, the number of relapses and restarting the control time, as well as shortening the time spent on the need to rebuild the electroanatomical map have resulted in a significant decrease in the duration of the radiofrequency ablation procedure. Conclusions. The work has shown that the use of the new protocol is more effective and allows to achieve the criteria of success faster than the traditional technique; the number of the procedure complications was not higher compared to traditional methods. When using the ablation protocol with higher energy, a lower incidence of atrial fibrillation recurrence was recorded.

Проведення емпіричного дослідження різного впливу міжнародної торгівлі в періоди стабільної світової економіки, кризових явищ та посткризового відновлення вможливлює формування узагальнених засад зовнішньоторговельної політики, спрямованої на підвищення темпів економічного зростання. Метою роботи є визначення впливу факторів міжнародної торгівлі на економічне зростання за кожним із періодів економічного стану та обґрунтування гіпотези щодо доцільності адаптації міжнародної торгівлі до економічної ситуації в країні. У роботі використано інструмент нечітких нейронних мереж щодо просторових даних 82 країн світу за часовими інтервалами стабільності, кризи та посткризового відновлення, що дозволило знайти раціональний підхід до формування орієнтирів міжнародної торгівлі за різних макроекономічних умов. Результати дослідження показали, що в періоди стабільної економіки максимізація реально досяжних темпів економічного зростання (близько 10-20%) відбувається при середніх і порівняно однакових рівнях експорту та імпорту (від 30% до 60%). При цьому потенційний сплеск темпів економічного зростання може буде досягнутий шляхом скорочення рівня експорту при збереженні середнього рівня імпорту. Під час кризових явищ найбільш стабільними є країни, що обмежили імпорт і зберегли середній рівень експорту своєї продукції, а потенційні можливості нарощення темпів економічного зростання вбачаються в підвищенні імпорту до докризового рівня. У часи посткризового відновлення найбільші потенційні темпи економічного зростання досягаються при максимально можливому нарощенні експорту та скороченні рівня імпорту. Констатовано, що експорт високотехнологічної продукції є впливовим фактором економічного зростання. Проте його рівень доцільно адаптувати до макроекономічних умов і структури міжнародної торгівлі, орієнтуючись на теорію меркантилізму.

Measured binary quasifission mass spectra in reactions with actinide nuclides show a large peak in yield near the doubly-magic 208Pb, generally attributed to enhanced binding energy causing a valley in the potential energy surface, which attracts quasifission trajectories. Measurements of binary quasifission mass spectra and cross-sections have been made for reactions of 50Ti with actinide nuclides from 232Th to 249Cf. Cross-sections have also been deduced for sequential fission (a projectile-like nucleus and two fragments from fission of the complementary target-like nucleus). Binary cross-sections fall from 70% of calculated capture cross-sections for 232Th to only 40% for 249Cf, with a compensating increase in sequential fission cross-sections. The data are consistent with the peak in yield near 208Pb originating largely from sequential fission of heavier fragments produced in more mass-asymmetric primary quasifission events. These are increasingly suppressed as the heavy quasifission fragment mass increases above 208Pb. The important role of sequential fission calls for re-interpretation of quasifission observables and dynamics in superheavy element synthesis reactions.

This paper presents the results of studies on the examination of rural areas in the regions of the Siberian Federal District (SFD) regarding the organization and expansion of organic agricultural production. For the socio-economic characterization and compilation of the rating potential of the SFD subjects, demographic, infrastructure, and territorial groups of factors were identified. The main competitive advantages of production and implementation of organic products were identified for each region. The rating compiled by the authors identifies the Novosibirsk region as the most promising for the development of various forms of organic agriculture. Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, and Tomsk regions also have high potential. The Republic of Altai and the Omsk region can be considered as regions of medium prospects due to limitations imposed by the weak development of some of the factors considered. The Republics of Tuva and Khakassia, as well as Altai and Kemerovo regions, are limitedly suitable for the development of the organic sector. A clear definition of the priorities of agricultural producers, the choice of a suitable strategy, and the presence of state support at all stages of the organization of organic production will be a necessary condition for the successful development of the sector.

It is noted in the work that the increase in the efficiency of agricultural production in our time is not possible without reducing energy costs. At the same time, the technical means of mechanization of the tillage process have a high material consumption, which leads to an increase in energy consumption, indicating energy and environmental problems. In an effort to improve the quality of soil preparation, expand the functionality of the unit, reduce energy consumption, simplify design and import substitution, the use of known tillage tools has been studied and analyzed. As a result, on the basis of exploratory research, a modernized tillage unit has been developed. The new elements of which are that a chopper module is mounted behind the disk module, consisting of staggered chopper rollers in two rows. The modernized tillage unit considered in the article, developed on the basis of KubGAU, improves the quality indicators of soil cultivation, on which the effective accumulation and consumption of soil moisture depends, reduces energy consumption by increasing the functionality of the unit.

The conducted research is devoted to the analysis of the wear resistance of materials used in reinforcing coatings of working bodies of agricultural machines subjected to friction under abrasive action in soil conditions. The aim of the study was to determine the degree of wear of the hardened teeth of the disc under the load of their impact on the soil in real operating conditions. The disk of a toothed harrow, which is a hardened working body of agricultural machinery, was used as an object of research. The individual teeth of this disc were the test samples. To increase the wear resistance of the teeth, a variety of reinforcing coatings were applied. The results of the study made it possible to comparatively evaluate the effectiveness of various reinforcing coatings and identify their effect on the wear resistance of the teeth of the disc. This study provides important data for further improvement of materials and technologies in agricultural engineering in order to increase the durability and efficiency of working bodies.

One of the characteristic properties of organofluorine compounds is their low surface energy. In this regard, surfactants containing perfluoroalkyl groups, as a rule, are much more effective than their nonfluorinated analogues. The unique character of fluorinated surfactants is also determined by their pronounced oleophobic properties. Surfaces treated with fluorinated surfactants are not only water-repellent, as in the case of their hydrocarbon analogues, but also benzo- and oil-repellent. Fluorotensides are highly resistant to oxidants and aggressive substances (acids, alkalis, chlorine, etc.). They also have high temperature resistance, withstand oxygen shock, have a solidification temperature of up to -160 °C, do not change properties at a dose rate of up to 108 rad. The applications of surfactants are extremely diverse. One of the methods of increasing the wear resistance of friction pairs is the method of surface treatment of friction pairs with fluorotensides. Fluorotensides are multicomponent systems that include organofluorine surfactants in various solvents and regulatory additives. In Russia, brands of fluorotensides have been created that surpass foreign samples in many respects, which has significantly expanded the scope of their application.

The material of the scientific article represents a separate stage of research on a topical topic dedicated to increasing the economic efficiency of feed mills. The solution to this problem significantly depends on the technical condition and quality of the work process carried out by technological equipment. Based on an analysis of the state of the issue on the topic under consideration, it was established that the most important and energy-intensive operation of the feed preparation process is grinding, performed in feed crushers. A study of the operating conditions of hammer crushers revealed the least reliable working element - the grinding rotor, the technical condition of which is determined by wear of the support bearings, increased vibration and imbalance. In order to substantiate the method of automated diagnostics of rotor malfunctions during operation, determine the accuracy of manufacturing crushers at factories, and assess the quality of service and repair at service enterprises, a scheme for static and dynamic loading of the rotor has been developed.

The paper examines the issues of providing electrical energy to tractors operating on electric traction. Problems associated with the lack of infrastructure necessary for charging and recharging traction batteries are described. The rationale for the operation of electric tractors in agriculture is given. The article provides an overview of the available types of charging stations, their advantages and disadvantages, as well as some technical characteristics. The development and use of mobile charging stations for charging and recharging traction batteries of electric tractors directly in the field is substantiated. The main results provide information about the designed mobile charging station. The article contains a description of the design and composition of a mobile charging station, through which traction batteries are charged directly in the field. The rationale for choosing the type of charging station and the method of supplying it with electrical energy is presented. Particular attention is paid to the rational choice of storage batteries that will be located in the charging station. An assessment of the used rechargeable batteries is carried out, their main advantages and disadvantages are given, as well as the type of batteries chosen for use is justified.

The article considers the prospect of using technologies for processing low-quality, damaged wood and wood waste by grinding in the interests of energy use. The data on the dynamics of the increase in the areas of plantations with impaired and lost stability, the causes of these phenomena on the example of the Krasnoyarsk Territory are presented. Various options for the disposal and use of wood waste, including from logging activities, are described. The main advantages and possible disadvantages of the introduction of technological processes for grinding wood raw materials are also given. The analysis of trends in the production of wood pellets in Russia and the world is carried out. Attention is paid to minimizing the impact of existing wood processing technologies on environmental safety and improving the efficiency of business activities based on the involvement of wood waste in the production process as raw materials for the fuel and energy sector, as well as obtaining new, highly liquid products and materials. The materials of the work can be used in making decisions related to the involvement in industrial production or disposal of low-quality, damaged wood and wood waste.

Individual housing construction in the Krasnoyarsk Territory is actively developing. Rising housing prices in multi-storey buildings, increasing building density, and socio-demographic factors are increasing the popularity of individual construction. Technologies for such construction imply the widespread use of available local building materials, in particular wood. During the study, the designs of private houses in the settlement - the regional center of the Krasnoyarsk Territory - were analyzed. It was found that 90% of the sample examined were houses built from timber. Using simulation modeling methods, the actual thermal resistance of the enclosing structure made of timber with a cross-section of 0.15×0.15 m was determined. The calculated value was compared with the standard resistance indicator of the enclosing structure, taking into account energy saving standards. The Elcut solid modeling system was used in the work. The required heat flow power to maintain stationary heat transfer conditions was determined. It has been established that the design enclosing structure does not provide the required thermal resistance taking into account energy saving standards. It is necessary to consider a multilayer enclosing structure and increase the design resistance by insulating the outer surface of the wall with heat-insulating materials.

The article proposes a method for calculating the static position of the machine body. The mathematical model of the running gear is given. The dependence of the position of the center of mass in height relative to the ground on the pre-tension forces, as well as the angular deviation of the longitudinal axis of the hull from the horizontal position, is shown. A control calculation was performed, the results of which are presented in the form of graphical dependencies. The numerical experiment was carried out on the example of a tracked vehicle of a light category with a rear drive wheel.

The relevance of the article is due to the need to replace petroleum diesel fuel with fuels obtained from alternative raw materials. Rapeseed oil is considered as an alternative motor fuel. The properties of petroleum diesel fuel and rapeseed oil are analyzed. The influence of these properties of fuels on the characteristics of their injection and spraying is investigated. The deterioration of the quality of the injection and spraying processes was noted when the engine was switched from petroleum diesel fuel to rapeseed oil. When replacing diesel fuel with rapeseed oil, a slight increase in the maximum injection pressure and the duration of fuel supply was noted. Other parameters of fuel injection and atomization processes practically did not change. To achieve the required performance indicators of the diesel engine, it is necessary to implement measures that improve the quality of the workflow. These measures include the regulation of the fuel injection advance angle, optimization of the geometry of the flow part of the nozzle sprayer, two-phase fuel supply. It is advisable to switch from rapeseed oil to mixed biofuels and optimize their composition.

Introduction This study is a comparative assessment of early and long-term results of two different methods of surgical treatment of hallux extensus. Materials and methods The results of surgical treatment of 22 patients with Hallux extensus at the orthopedic department of the Moscow Yudin City Hospital from 2017 to 2019 were studied. The patients were divided into 2 groups depending on the tactics of surgical treatment. The main goal of this study is a comparative assessment of the functional results of two surgical techniques. The first group of patients, which included 11 subjects, underwent needle percutaneous tenotomy of the extensor tendon of the big toe, the second group, which also consisted of 11 people, underwent tenodesis of the tendon-muscular part of the short flexor of the big toe according to the proposed by us technique. Results The study results are based on the assessment of subjective patient satisfaction and radiography images, as well as on the ACFAS score. In the group of patients who underwent percutaneous tenotomy of the extensor tendon of the big toe, there was a recurrence of deformity in 4 patients (36 %) and insufficient correction of the deformity in 2 patients (18 %). In the group of patients who underwent tenodesis of the tendon-muscle part of the short flexor of the big toe, 100 % showed good functional results, pain relief and esthetic effect. Good treatment results were observed in 73.3 % of the patients. Conclusions Analysis of the clinical results of surgical treatment showed a high efficacy of tenodesis of the tendon-muscle part of the short flexor of the big toe in comparison with percutaneous tenotomy of the extensor tendon of the big toe. Positive results were achieved in 100 % of cases. No recurrence of deformity was observed. The patients did not complain of pain, and there were no problems with footwear in the postoperative period.

The methods of risk assessment and decision-making in the management of agrotechnology were studied in order to develop a methodical approach to assessing the risks of possible yield losses in case of deviations from the project parameters in the implementation of agrotechnology. The study uses methods of analyzing information from the subject area of risk management in the management of agricultural technology. A registry of possible deviations in the design values of process parameters in the implementation of agricultural technologies has been compiled. A new approach has been developed to assess the risks of possible yield losses in the implementation of agrotechnology with deviations in process parameters from project values. Using the proposed approach will provide an automated ranking of options for decisions on the degree of risk of possible crop failure in case of deviations from the designed values, which will facilitate the transition to intelligent management of crop production.

Abstract The DANSS detector (Alekseev et al. in JINST 11:P11011, 2016) is located directly below a commercial reactor core at the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant. Such a position provides an overburden about 50 m.w.e. in vertical direction. In terms of the cosmic rays it occupies an intermediate position between surface and underground detectors. The sensitive volume of the detector is a cubic meter of plastic scintillator with fine segmentation and combined PMT and SiPM readout, surrounded by multilayer passive and active shielding. The detector can reconstruct muon tracks passing through its sensitive volume. The main physics goal of the DANSS experiment implies the antineutrino spectra measurements at various distances from the source. This is achieved by means of a lifting platform so that the data is taken in three positions – 10.9, 11.9 and 12.9 meters from the reactor core. The muon data were collected for nearly four calendar years. The overburden parameters $$\langle E_{thr}\cos \theta \rangle $$ ⟨ E thr cos θ ⟩ and $$\langle E_{thr} \rangle $$ ⟨ E thr ⟩ , as well as the temperature and barometric correlation coefficients are evaluated separately for the three detector positions and, in each position, in three ranges of the zenith angle – for nearly vertical muons with $$\cos \theta >0.9$$ cos θ > 0.9 , for nearly horizontal muons with $$\cos \theta

The discharge of rivers and the subsequent dispersion of their plumes play a pivotal role in the biogeochemical cycling of the Arctic Ocean. Based on the data collected during annual transects conducted in the autumn period (September-October) from 2015-2020, this study explores the effect of River Lena plume dispersion on the seasonal and interannual changes in the hydrophysical and biogeochemical structure of the southeastern Laptev Sea. The temperature-salinity relationship (T-S), Redfield ratio and multiparameter cluster analysis were used to investigate variations in the water mass structure along the transect. The results revealed that the plume’s interannual and seasonal spreading patterns play a crucial role in regulating the local physical, biogeochemical, and biological processes in the southern Laptev Sea. During September-October, the hydrochemical water mass structure along the transects shifted from highly stratified to unstratified as the plume’s mixing intensity increased. Anomalous hydrochemical distributions were observed due to coastal upwelling, which was primarily characterized by high total alkalinity and nitrate levels, and low organic phosphorus, nitrite, and ammonia levels in the seawater. Wind and cold weather conditions drive deep vertical mixing of seawater, causing the resuspension of bottom sediment and the subsequent enrichment of bottom water by nutrients. Multi-parameter cluster analysis is used to describe the details of water mass structures in the highly dynamic southern Laptev Sea, with water mass structures typically undergoing significant changes within two weeks between September and October. The migration and transformation of water masses throughout the seasons are influenced by the volume of river discharge, fall-winter cooling, and atmospheric circulation patterns. Furthermore, the general atmospheric circulation is confirmed to be the primary cause of the interannual variation in the spread of the Lena River plume over the southeast Laptev Sea.

Due to a number of external uncontrolled factors of negative influence, Ukrainian business entities functioning in the hospitality and tourism business have seen the most severe crisis and depression over the past three years. In order to survive in such conditions and develop the business intensively, Ukrainian business entities must clearly define internal problematic aspects to correct them promptly, as well as the potential opportunities towards which the maximum effort should be directed. The article offers and justifies an approach to assessing the financial and economic security of hospitality and tourism business entities in the complex modern conditions under which the Ukrainian economy is developing. In order to achieve the research goal, the methods of systematization, grouping, and logical generalization were applied. The article systematizes the key aspects of ensuring the financial and economic security for the company's activities that should be followed by its management, describes the structure of an enterprise's financial and economic security, and formulates the concept of financial and economic security for business entities in hospitality and tourism. The paper also specifies the sequence of stages, which would be advisable to follow when managing the financial and economic security of hospitality and tourism enterprises. The authors have summarized the approaches to assessing an enterprise's financial and economic security in modern literature and have grouped the indicators of financial and economic security for hospitality and tourism business enterprises. The study analyzes the dynamics of financial indicators which comprehensively characterize the functioning of temporary accommodation and catering enterprises, as well as economic operators of tourist activity in Ukraine and offers an approach to assessing the financial and economic security of hospitality and tourism business enterprises which base their activities on the innovation potential. The results of the study prove that differentiating and operating the components of hospitality and tourism business operators' innovation potential is expedient and improves their financial and economic security. The practical significance of the obtained results lies in increasing the financial and economic security and innovativeness of hospitality and tourism business enterprises in Ukraine by applying the proposed approach to evaluation as a monitoring tool.

Abstract Background Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analysis for detecting amyloid positivity may be as reliable as positron emission tomography (PET). We evaluated the performance of the amyloid beta (Aβ)42/40 ratio for predicting amyloid positivity by PET, compared with Aβ42 alone, and phosphorylated tau 181 (pTau181)/Aβ42 and total tau (tTau)/Aβ42 ratios, using fully automated CSF immunoassays (Roche Diagnostics International Ltd, Rotkreuz, Switzerland) in a heterogeneous cohort of patients with a range of cognitive disorders reflecting the typical population of a memory clinic. Methods CSF samples from 103 patients with known amyloid PET status (PET positive = 54; PET negative = 49) were retrospectively selected from one site in Germany; 71 patients were undergoing treatment for mild cognitive impairment (n = 44) or mild-to-moderate dementia (n = 27) due to Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and 32 patients were undergoing treatment for non-AD-related cognitive disorders. Aβ42, pTau181, and tTau concentrations were measured in CSF samples using the respective Elecsys® CSF immunoassays modified for use on the cobas e 411 analyzer; Aβ40 concentrations were measured using a non-commercially available robust prototype assay. Sensitivities/specificities for amyloid positivity cut-offs (Youden-derived and pre-defined) were calculated, and receiver operating characteristic analyses determined area under the curve (AUC) versus amyloid PET status. Limitations include a small sample size, use of a pre-analytical protocol not in accordance with the Elecsys CSF immunoassay method sheets, and the lack of a pre-defined cut-off for Aβ42/40. Results Point estimates for sensitivity and specificity of CSF biomarkers and biomarker ratios versus amyloid PET were 0.93 and 0.57 for Aβ42, 0.96 and 0.69 for pTau181/Aβ42, 0.92 and 0.69 for tTau/Aβ42, and 0.94 and 0.82 for Aβ42/40. For AUCs, point estimates (95% confidence intervals) versus amyloid PET were 0.78 (0.68−0.88) for Aβ42, 0.88 (0.81−0.95) for pTau181/Aβ42, 0.87 (0.80−0.95) for tTau/Aβ42, and 0.90 (0.83−0.97) for Aβ42/40. Conclusions CSF Aβ42/40 ratio can predict PET amyloid positivity with high accuracy in patients with a range of cognitive disorders when evaluating Aβ pathology independent of tau and neurodegeneration for research purposes. The performance of Aβ42/40 was comparable with pTau181/Aβ42 and tTau/Aβ42 used in clinical practice and better than Aβ42 alone.

“Brain-predicted age” quantifies apparent brain age compared to normative neuroimaging trajectories. Advanced brain-predicted age has been well established in symptomatic Alzheimer disease (AD), but is underexplored in preclinical AD. Prior brain-predicted age studies have typically used structural MRI, but resting-state functional connectivity (FC) remains underexplored. Our model predicted age from FC in 391 cognitively normal, amyloid-negative controls (ages 18–89). We applied the trained model to 145 amyloid-negative, 151 preclinical AD, and 156 symptomatic AD participants to test group differences. The model accurately predicted age in the training set. FC-predicted brain age gaps (FC-BAG) were significantly older in symptomatic AD and significantly younger in preclinical AD compared to controls. There was minimal correspondence between networks predictive of age and AD. Elevated FC-BAG may reflect network disruption during symptomatic AD. Reduced FC-BAG in preclinical AD was opposite to the expected direction, and may reflect a biphasic response to preclinical AD pathology or may be driven by inconsistency between age-related vs. AD-related networks. Overall, FC-predicted brain age may be a sensitive AD biomarker.

Measured binary quasifission mass spectra in reactions with actinide nuclides show a large peak in yield near the doubly-magic 208Pb. This has generally been attributed to the enhanced binding energy of 208Pb causing a valley in the potential energy surface, attracting quasifission trajectories. To investigate this interpretation, binary quasifission mass spectra and cross-sections have been measured at near-barrier energies for reactions of 50Ti with actinide nuclides from 238U to 249Cf. Cross-sections have also been deduced for sequential fission (a projectile-like nucleus and two fragments from fission of the complementary target-like nucleus). Binary cross-sections fall from ∼70% of calculated capture cross-sections for 238U to only ∼40% for 249Cf, with a compensating increase in sequential fission cross-sections. The data are consistent with the 208Pb peak originating largely from sequential fission of heavier fragments produced in more mass-asymmetric primary quasifission events. These are increasingly suppressed as the heavy quasifission fragment mass increases above 208Pb. The important role of sequential fission calls for re-interpretation of quasifission characteristics and dynamics in superheavy element synthesis reactions.

Introduction: In this review, the analysis of technologies for obtaining biologically active proteins from various sources is carried out, and the comparative analysis of technologies for creating producers of biologically active proteins is presented. Special attention is paid to genetically modified animals as bioreactors for the pharmaceutical industry of a new type. The necessity of improving the technology of development transgenic rabbit producers and creating a platform solution for the production of biological products is substantiated. The advantages of using TrB for the production of recombinant proteins: The main advantages of using TrB are the low cost of obtaining valuable complex therapeutic human proteins in readily accessible fluids, their greater safety relative to proteins isolated directly from human blood, and the greater safety of the activity of the native protein. The advantages of the mammary gland as a system for the expression of recombinant proteins: The mammary gland is the organ of choice for the expression of valuable recombinant proteins because milk is easy to collect in large volumes. Methods for obtaining transgenic animals: The modern understanding of the regulation of gene expression and the discovery of new tools for gene editing can increase the efficiency of creating bioreactors for animals and help to obtain high concentrations of the target protein. The advantages of using rabbits as bioreactors producing recombinant proteins in milk: The rabbit is a relatively small animal with a short duration of gestation, puberty and optimal size, capable of producing up to 5 liters of milk per year per female, receiving up to 300 grams of the target protein.

Prior studies of aging and Alzheimer disease have evaluated resting state functional connectivity (FC) using either seed-based correlation (SBC) or independent component analysis (ICA), with a focus on particular functional systems. SBC and ICA both are insensitive to differences in signal amplitude. At the same time, accumulating evidence indicates that the amplitude of spontaneous BOLD signal fluctuations is physiologically meaningful. We systematically compared covariance-based FC, which is sensitive to amplitude, vs. correlation-based FC, which is not, in affected individuals and controls drawn from two cohorts of participants including autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease (ADAD), late onset Alzheimer disease (LOAD), and age-matched controls. Functional connectivity was computed over 222 regions of interest and group differences were evaluated in terms of components projected onto a space of lower dimension. Our principal observations are: (1) Aging is associated with global loss of resting state fMRI signal amplitude that is approximately uniform across resting state networks. (2) Thus, covariance FC measures decrease with age whereas correlation FC is relatively preserved in healthy aging. (3) In contrast, symptomatic ADAD and LOAD both lead to loss of spontaneous activity amplitude as well as severely degraded correlation structure. These results demonstrate a double dissociation between age vs. Alzheimer disease and the amplitude vs. correlation structure of resting state BOLD signals. Modeling results suggest that the AD-associated loss of correlation structure is attributable to a relative increase in the fraction of locally restricted as opposed to widely shared variance.

Background: Normative brain volume reports (NBVR) are becoming more available in the work-up of patients with suspected dementia disorders, potentially leveraging the value of structural MRI in clinical settings. The present study aims to investigate the impact of NBVRs on the diagnosis of neurodegenerative dementia disorders in real-world clinical practice.Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data of 112 memory clinic patients, who were consecutively referred for MRI and 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) during a 12-month period. Structural MRI was assessed by two residents with 2 and 3 years of neuroimaging experience. Statements and diagnostic confidence regarding the presence of a neurodegenerative disorder in general (first level) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pattern in particular (second level) were recorded without and with NBVR information. FDG-PET served as the reference standard.Results: Overall, despite a trend towards increased accuracy, the impact of NBVRs on diagnostic accuracy was low and non-significant. We found a significant drop of sensitivity (0.75–0.58; p < 0.001) and increase of specificity (0.62–0.85; p < 0.001) for rater 1 at identifying patients with neurodegenerative dementia disorders. Diagnostic confidence increased for rater 2 (p < 0.001).Conclusions: Overall, NBVRs had a limited impact on diagnostic accuracy in real-world clinical practice. Potentially, NBVR might increase diagnostic specificity and confidence of neuroradiology residents. To this end, a well-defined framework for integration of NBVR in the diagnostic process and improved algorithms of NBVR generation are essential.

Russia has unique technical and technological experience of gas field development in permafrost regions. According to this experience, different environmental and geocryological conditions require different technical solutions. Such problems as considerable subzero temperatures in geologic sections, great ice saturation of subsurface sediments, and gas and gas hydrate accumulations inside permafrost and immediately below it cause a series of dangerous consequences when gas production wells are in operation. These include back freezing, breaking well casings, well site subsidence when in production; movement and deformation of the wellhead caused by thawing of the rock massif around the well column when in operation; sudden and strong gas blowouts during well drilling, completion, and operation. To prevent possible accidents, different technical and technological solutions are applied: zoning of the field area according to the degree of complexity of geocryological conditions and the correction of future gas well cluster locations to avoid zones with extremely complex conditions; preliminary degassing of permafrost zones by shallow slim wells in places of future production well clusters; mechanical support of unstable production wells; installation of passive and active heat-isolation systems to the well construction and inside ground around wellheads. Key messages received during the development of gas fields at complex geocryological conditions are (consistently): preliminary careful geological engineering surveys and zoning of the field area, well clusters placed in areas with relatively soft geocryological conditions, preliminary degassing of permafrost depth intervals, passive and active heat isolation installation to the sub-wellhead part of the production well and around wellhead, and mechanical strengthening of unstable wells. Current plans are underway to utilize this experience for new gas discoveries in the Russian Arctic.
