Background: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) is an uncommon autosomal dominant condition. The combination of pregnancy and HHT can exacerbate pulmonary hypertension (PH) and, in severe cases, lead to fatality. Case presentation: The case we presented is a 28-year-old multiparous woman. She developed chest tightness and dyspnea in the second trimester of pregnancy, which was not taken seriously at that time, and the symptoms worsened postpartum. Echocardiography showed elevated pulmonary artery pressure (PAP) and the computerized tomographic pulmonary angiogram revealed a significant pulmonary arteriovenous malformation. The patient's condition continued to deteriorate despite treatment to reduce pulmonary hypertension. We reviewed and updated the history of omission, recurrent epistaxis during pregnancy, and similar symptoms running in her family. Combined with the whole exon genetic testing report revealing the ACVRL1 gene mutation at chr12:52308295, the diagnosis of HHT was established. Four months later, a transcatheter closure of the pulmonary arteriovenous fistula was performed, with satisfying outcomes presenting a decrease of more than 15 mmHg in the pulmonary artery pressure. As of right now, the patient's status is stable during the outpatient follow-up. Conclusions: HHT is a rare condition that typically occurs alongside abnormal communication between pulmonary veins and arteries, leading to a high-flow state in the pulmonary circulation. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia. The two major hallmarks of this disease are extracellular amyloid plaques and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles in the brain, accompanied by loss of neurons and synapses. The plaques and tangles mainly consist of amyloid-β (Aβ) and tau protein, respectively. Most of the therapeutic strategies for AD to date have focused on Aβ. However, there is still no effective therapy available. In recent years, the clinical therapeutic failure of targeting Aβ pathology has resulted in increased interest towards tau-based therapeutics. In the current review, we focus on the research progress regarding the pathological mechanisms of tau protein in this disease and discuss tau-targeting therapeutic strategies.

Identification and determination of chiral pharmaceutical residues is still a challenging analytical puzzle. In this work, a simple, rapid, and effective method for chiral D/L-tetraiodothyronine (T4) separation and quantitative was developed based on host–guest recognition using ion mobility spectrometry-mass spectrometry (IMS-MS). The D/L-T4 enantiomers were mobility separated by their diastereomeric complexes through mixing with cyclodextrin (CD) and metal ions. D/L-T4 was first separated by complexing with host molecule (α-, β-, γ-CD), observing weak peak-to-peak resolution (Rp-p) by the formed binary complex [CD + D/L-T4-H]+, and the Rp-p decreased with the CD size increasing. However, the separation effect of D/L-T4 was much improved with the addition of divalent metal ions (G2+) by the formed ternary complex [CD + D/L-T4 + G]2+. In comparison, α-CD related complexes can possess the best separation effect for D/L-T4 in most cases. Considering the high selectivity, non-toxic, and chemically stable of β-CD, [β-CD + D/L-T4 + Ca]2+ was selected for D/L-T4 analysis (RP-P = 0.764). Whereafter, chemical theoretical conformations for [β-CD + D/L-T4 + H]+ and [β-CD + D/L-T4 + Ca]2+ were optimized, discovering similar micro-interaction modes between [β-CD + D-T4 + H]+ and [β-CD + L-T4 + H]+; while with the addition of Ca2+, significantly different interaction modes were observed between [β-CD + D-T4 + Ca]2+ and [β-CD + L-T4 + Ca]2+. And theoretical collision cross section (CCS) trends for the complexes were consistent with that of the experimental results. Additionally, calibration curves were linear within 1.00 to 104 ng mL−1 with coefficient (R2 > 0.99), gaining the limit of detection (LODs) calculation of 0.11 ng mL−1, and the detection range between D-T4 and L-T4 of 45.6:1 to 1:59.8. Finally, the method was applied for D/L-T4 detection in Levothyroxine tablets, the detection content has good consistency on drug labeling. Because the proposed method exhibited good analytical performance in terms of speed, selectivity, sensitivity, and reproducibility of the measurements, that can be a promising strategy for effective D/L-T4 detection in pharmaceutical industries or other practical samples.

Gastric cancer (GC) is one of the most common malignancies worldwide. Patients with advanced GC need palliative care to ensure survival. This includes the use of chemotherapy agents, such as cisplatin, 5-fluorouracil, oxaliplatin, paclitaxel, and pemetrexed, as well as targeted agents. However, the emergence of drug resistance evidence in poor patient outcomes and poor prognosis is a motivation to determine the specific mechanism of drug resistance. Interestingly, circular RNAs (circRNAs) play an important part in the carcinogenesis and progression of GC and are involved in GC drug resistance. This review systematically summarizes the functions and mechanisms of circRNAs underlying GC drug resistance, especially chemoresistance. It also emphasizes that circRNAs can serve as promising targets for improving drug resistance and therapeutic efficacy.

High performance normally-off hydrogen-terminated diamond (H-diamond) MOSFETs were fabricated on single crystalline diamond grown in our lab. The device with 2-μm gate length shows threshold voltage of -1.0 V, and a drain current of 51.6 mA/mm at VGS = VDS = -4.5 V and an on-resistance of 65.39 Ω·mm. The transconductance keeps increasing when VGS shifts from VTH toward more negative direction, and reaches the record high value of 20 mS/mm at VGS of -4.5 V, which benefitted from the almost constant mobility of the holes in the gate voltage range of -4 V GS

Metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) with Al2O3 passivation layer grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) at 200 oC and 300 oC were fabricated on hydrogen-terminated polycrystalline diamond by using gold mask technology. The device with 200 oC grown Al2O3 dielectric shows high output current, low on-resistance, large threshold voltage and high transconductance compared to that with 300 oC grown Al2O3. A maximum drain current of 339 mA/mm has been achieved by the 2-μm device of the former kind, which, as we know, is the best result reported for the diamond MOSFETs with the same gate length except the NO2-adsorbed case. The current-voltage (I-V) of gate diodes of both kinds of devices show the gate forward leakage is dominated by the Frenkel-Poole (FP) emission mechanism at a high electric field, and the gate of the latter device can sustain higher forward bias. The stability of successive I-V measurements of both kinds of devices was proved. We expect that a high performance H-diamond MOSFET with high stability can be achieved by a double-layer dielectric structure with 200 oC grown Al2O3 stacked by another high-quality high κ dielectric.
