An overview is presented of the progress since 2021 in the construction and scientific programme preparation of the Divertor Tokamak Test (DTT) facility. Licensing for building construction has been granted at the end of 2021. Licensing for Cat. A radiologic source has been also granted in 2022. The construction of the toroidal field magnet system is progressing. The prototype of the 170 GHz gyrotron has been produced and it is now under test on the FALCON facility. The design of the vacuum vessel, the poloidal field coils and the civil infrastructures has been completed. The shape of the first DTT divertor has been agreed with EUROfusion to test different plasma and exhaust scenarios: single null, double null, X-divertor and negative triangularity plasmas. A detailed research plan is being elaborated with the involvement of the EUROfusion laboratories.

Ryugu is a second-generation C-type asteroid formed by the reassembly of fragments of a previous larger body in the main asteroid belt. While the majority of Ryugu samples returned by Hayabusa2 are composed of a lithology dominated by aqueously altered minerals, clasts of pristine olivine and pyroxene remain in the least-altered lithologies. These clasts are objects of great interest for revealing the composition of the dust from which the original building blocks of Ryugu's parent asteroid formed. Here we show that some grains rich in olivine, pyroxene, and amorphous silicates discovered in one millimeter-sized stone of Ryugu have infrared spectra similar to the D-type asteroid Hektor (a Jupiter Trojan), to comet Hale–Bopp, and to some anhydrous interplanetary dust particles of probable cometary origin. This result indicates that Ryugu's primary parent body incorporated anhydrous ingredients similar to the building blocks of asteroids (and possibly some comets) formed in the outer solar system, and that Ryugu retained valuable information on the formation and evolution of planetesimals at different epochs of our solar system's history.

This paper assesses several methods for the retrieval of Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) from satellite imagery. The results of five different methods are compared to coincident in-situ measurements collected at three sites in southern UK. PAR retrieval methods are separated into two distinct groups. The first group comprises three methods that compute PAR by multiplying the satellite-retrieved solar broadband irradiance at the surface (SSI) by a constant coefficient. The two methods in the second group are based on more sophisticated modelling of the radiative transfer in the atmosphere involving advanced global aerosol property analyses and physically consistent total column water vapour and ozone produced by the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS). Both methods compute a cloud modification factor from satellite-retrieved SSI. The five methods have been applied to two satellite-retrieved SSI datasets: HelioClim-3 version 5 (HC3v5) and CAMS Radiation Service (CAMS-Rad). Except at the seashore site, Group 2 methods combined with the cloud extinction from the HC3v5 dataset deliver the best results with small biases of −5 to 0 µmol m−2 s−1 (−1 % to 0 % relative to the mean of the measurements), root mean square errors of 130 µmol m−2 s−1 (28 %) and correlation coefficients exceeding 0.945. For all methods, best results are attained with the HC3v5 data set. These results demonstrate that all methods capture the temporal and spatial variability of the PAR irradiation field well, although several methods require a posteriori bias adjustments for reliable results. Combined with such an adjustment, the Udo et Aro method is a good compromise for this geographical area in terms of reliability, tractability and its ability to run in real-time. Overall, the method performing a spectral discretization in cloud-free conditions, combined with the HC3v5 dataset, outperforms other methods and has great potential for supporting an operational system.

La punta cadente è una fastidiosa deformità estetica e funzionale del naso. Laspetto della punta è influenzato da aspetti sia statici che dinamici. Per questo motivo, appare logico tenere in considerazione questi fattori nel pianificare la correzione chirurgica di questa deformità. Molti studi hanno affrontato questo argomento, ma il trattamento resta controverso. Per rendere efficace la chirurgia della punta appare indispensabile identificare le caratteristiche anatomiche fondamentali della punta stessa. Diversi angoli e misure possono essere calcolati per definire la posizione della punta tra cui: langolo nasolabiale, lasse della narice, langolo di rotazione della punta in rapporto al piano di Francoforte, langolo columellare-facciale. Lobiettivo di questo studio è focalizzare lattenzione sulla nostra esperienza personale sulle alterazioni anatomiche del naso che meritano una correzione e sulle procedure chirurgiche necessarie per ottenere risultati soddisfacenti nel trattamento della punta cadente. Nel presente studio sono stati presi in considerazione la proiezione e la rotazione della punta pre e post-operatorie. La correzione della punta cadente è stata ottenuta mediante settorinoplastica aperta o chiusa a seconda dei casi. La tecnica prevalentemente usata per riposizionare la punta è risultata essere il raddrizzamento del setto (41/41 casi) e la tecnica Tongue-in-groove (36/41 casi) (87,6%). Lo strut columellare è stato impiegato in 8/41 pazienti (19,51%). Resezioni cefaliche delle cartilagini alari sono state applicate in 29/41 pazienti (70,73%). Suture per ri-orientare le cartilagini alari sono state impiegate in 18/41 casi (43,9%). Il Lateral crural overlay è stato necessario in 2/41 casi (4,8%). Il presente articolo rivaluta le principali varianti anatomiche del naso che meritano correzione e le tecniche chirurgiche utilizzabili per semplificare il processo decisionale preoperatorio.

In this paper we investigate the finite-time and asymptotic behaviour of algebraic turbulent mixing-layer models by numerical simulation. We compare the performances given by three different settings of the eddy viscosity. We consider Richardson number-based vertical eddy viscosity models. Two of these are classical algebraic turbulence models usually used in numerical simulations of global oceanic circulation, i.e. the Pacanowski–Philander and the Gent models, while the other one is a more recent model (Bennis et al., 2010) proposed to prevent numerical instabilities generated by physically unstable configurations. The numerical schemes are based on the standard finite element method. We perform some numerical tests for relatively large deviations of realistic initial conditions provided by the Tropical Atmosphere Ocean (TAO) array. These initial conditions correspond to states close to mixing-layer profiles, measured on the Equatorial Pacific region called the West-Pacific Warm Pool. We conclude that mixing-layer profiles could be considered as kinds of "absorbing configurations" in finite time that asymptotically evolve to steady states under the application of negative surface energy fluxes.

Background Multiple percutaneous coronary interventions (PCIs) are considered determinant of poor outcome in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), but scarce data exist to substantiate this. Methods and Results Patients who underwent CABG without history of prior PCI or with PCI performed >30 days before surgery were selected for the present analysis from the prospective, multicenter E‐CABG (European Multicenter Study on Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) registry. Out of 6563 patients with data on preoperative SYNTAX (Synergy between PCI With Taxus and Cardiac Surgery) score, 1181 patients (18.0%) had undergone PCI >30 days before CABG. Of these, 11.6% underwent a single PCI, 4.4% 2 PCIs, and 2.1% ≥3 PCIs. PCI of a single main coronary vessel was performed in 11.3%, of 2 main vessels in 4.9%, and of 3 main vessels in 1.6% of patients. Multivariable analysis showed that differences in early mortality and other outcomes were not significantly different in the study cohorts. The adjusted hospital/30‐day mortality rate was 1.8% in patients without history of prior PCI, 1.9% in those with a history of 1 PCI, 1.4% after 2 PCIs, and 2.5% after ≥3 PCIs (adjusted P=0.8). The adjusted hospital/30‐day mortality rate was 2.0% in those who had undergone PCI of 1 main coronary vessel, 1.3% after PCI of 2 main vessels, and 3.1% after PCI of 3 main coronary vessels (adjusted P=0.6). Conclusions Multiple prior PCIs are not associated with increased risk of early adverse events in patients undergoing isolated CABG. The present results are conditional to survival after PCI and should not be viewed as a support for a policy of multiple PCI as opposed to earlier CABG.
