Introduction: Chronic wounds continue to pose a significant global challenge, incurring substantial costs and necessitating extensive research in wound healing. Our previous work involved synthesizing zein nanofibers embedded with 5 %, 10 %, and 15 % nano-curcumin (Zein/nCUR 5, 10, and 15 % NFs), and examining their physicochemical and biological properties. This study aims to explore the potential of these nanofibers in macrophage (MØ) polarization and wound healing. Methods: We assessed the survival of RAW264.7 cells cultured on Zein/nCUR 5, 10, and 15 % NFs using the MTT assay. To evaluate MØ polarization, we measured the expression of iNOS and Arg-1 genes in MØs cultured on Zein/nCUR 10 % NFs through real-time PCR. Furthermore, we examined the nanofibers' impact on pro-inflammatory cytokine expression (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) in MØs via real-time PCR. Diabetic wounds pose a significant challenge in healthcare due to their complex nature and the difficulties they present in treatment and healing. Impaired healing processes in individuals with diabetes can lead to complications and prolonged recovery times. However, recent advancements in wound healing provide reasons for optimism. Researchers are actively developing innovative strategies and therapies specifically tailored to address the unique challenges of diabetic wounds. One focus area is biomimetic hydrogel scaffolds that mimic the natural extracellular matrix, promoting angiogenesis, collagen deposition, and the healing process while also reducing infection risk. Copper nanoparticles and copper compounds incorporated into hydrogels release copper ions with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and angiogenic properties. Copper reduces infection risk, modulates inflammatory response, and promotes tissue regeneration through cell adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation. Utilizing copper nanoparticles has transformative potential for expediting diabetic wound healing and improving patient outcomes while enhancing overall well-being by preventing severe complications associated with untreated wounds. It is crucial to write a review highlighting the importance of investigating the use of copper nanoparticles and compounds in diabetic wound healing and tissue engineering. These groundbreaking strategies hold the potential to transform the treatment of diabetic wounds, accelerating the healing process and enhancing patient outcomes.

Background: Cyclophosphamide (CPA) have significant effects on ovarian follicles which lead to ovarian toxicity and impair the normal female reproductive function. This study aimed to evaluate the dose-dependent effects of CPA on rat follicle numbers. Methods: The experimental groups consisted of rats administered a single intraperitoneal injection of CPA at doses of either 50, 75,150, or 200 mg/kg followed by daily doses of 8 mg/kg for 14 days and control group given no treatment. After the treatment period, the histological evaluation was done. Results: Primordial and primary follicles were affected by all doses of CPA, but differential follicle counts revealed that graaf and preantral follicles were most sensitive to CPA, followed by primary and primordial follicles. The greatest reduction in all type of studied follicles caused by CPA doses of 50 mg/kg. Conclusion: Differential follicle counts revealed that CPA-induced ovarian toxicity is exhibited in structural feature of the ovary, particularly in destruction of graaf and preantral follicles in a dose-dependent manner so that the highest decrease in all type of studied follicles caused by 50 mg/kg of CPA and is suggested as the best concentration for ovotoxicity induction. These findings give insight into ovarian response to structural disruption of folliculogenesis.

In recent years, there has been a notable surge in the development of engineered bone scaffolds intended for the repair of bone defects. While autografts and allografts have traditionally served as the primary methods in bone tissue engineering, their inherent limitations have spurred the exploration of novel avenues in biomedical implant development. The emergence of bone scaffolds not only facilitates bone reconstruction but also offers a platform for the targeted delivery of therapeutic agents. There exists a pervasive interest in leveraging various drugs, proteins, growth factors, and biomolecules with osteogenic properties to augment bone formation, as the enduring side effects associated with current clinical modalities necessitate the pursuit of safer alternatives. Curcumin, the principal bioactive compound found in turmeric, has demonstrated notable efficacy in regulating the proliferation and differentiation of bone cells while promoting bone formation. Nevertheless, its utility is hindered by restricted water solubility and poor bioavailability. Strategies aimed at enhancing the solubility, stability, and bioavailability of curcumin, including formulation techniques such as liposomes and nanoparticles or its complexation with metals, have been explored. This investigation is dedicated to exploring the impact of curcumin on the proliferation, differentiation, and migration of osteocytes, osteoblasts, and osteoclasts.

Background: The axillary arch is a rare axillary abnormality described as a slim muscular slip extending from the latissimus dorsi to the pectoralis major muscles. This arch has been indicated as the main reason for hyper-abduction syndrome and neurovascular compression in the axillary region. Case presentation: During the dissection of the right axillary cavity of a 74-year-old man for medical students, a case of the axillary arch was found, arising from the lateral border of the latissimus dorsi muscle and terminating in the pectoralis major tendon and the fascia covering the coracobrachialis muscle. Conclusion: Since this variation has not been reported in our country so far, this study can help surgeons to have a better understanding of anatomy and the prevalence of this structure. This muscle can be clinically important in axillary surgeries; due to its influences on the brachial plexus and axillary vessels, covering lymph nodes and altering local anatomy.

Background & Objective: Soy milk contains isoflavones that comprises the phytoestrogens families. They have structural similarities with mammalian estrogen. This study was done to investigate the effects of soy milk on histomorphometric changes of olfactory bulb in neonatal ovariectomized rats. Materials & Methods: Thirty female rats Sprague- Dawley strain (one-day old) were kept in a standard laboratory condition. Afterwards, they were randomly divided into six groups with 5rats (a control, a sham and four experimental groups). The ovaries of one-week old experimental groups were removed by surgery. In experimental groups of 2,3and 4, the rats received soy milk twice a day from the 14th day to the end of 2 month 0.75, 1.5 and 3 ml/kg respectively by gavage. At the end of two month and after anesthesia and blood sampling to measure estrogen hormone, the olfactory bulb of all rats to investigate the thickness of layers and the number of cells in different layers of olfactory bulb histomorphometric was divided. One of the traditional medicines used for male infertility is Date palm (Phoenix dactylifera) pollen (DPP). The goal of the present study was to investigate the effect of aqueous extract of DPP on In vitro viability and proliferation rate of neonate mouse spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs). Methods: cell suspension includes sertoli cells and SSCs were isolated from neonatal 6 day-old mice testes by 2 steps enzymatic digestion. The cell suspension was cultured in DMEM and FCS 4% in the absence or presence of 0.06, 0.25 and 0.62 mg/ml of aqueous extract of DPP for 2 weeks. In order to evaluate the rate of SSCs expansion at the end of culture, the mean number of whole cells and living cells were considered as proliferation and survival rates respectively. Data analysis was done with ANOVA test. The significancy of the data was analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey post test. Results: The results showed that there were no significant differences between the mean percent of viability and proliferation rate between control and 0.06, 0.25 and 0.62 mg/ml of DPP-treated groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Our study showed that treatment of neonatal mouse testicular cell suspension with DPP had no toxic effects on viability percent and proliferation rate of these cells. Thus, we can use DPP for evaluate the in vitro pattern of SSCs colonization in the future studies.
