IntroductionRacial, ethnic, sexual, and gender minoritized groups are considered historically excluded groups and have been disproportionately affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The influence of social determinants of health (SDOH), including access to screening and treatment, and other systemic and structural factors are largely responsible for these disparities. Primary care practitioner (PCP) competence in culturally responsive screening practices will be critical to reducing the impact of systemic and structural factors serving as barriers to screening and treatment. Correspondingly, improving the capacity of PCPs to communicate with patients in a culturally responsive manner may influence improved screening and treatment outcomes for minoritized groups related to COVID-19. This scoping literature review aims to determine the current breadth of literature on culturally responsive communication (CRC) in regard to COVID-19 vaccination screening for historically excluded, or minoritized groups. Results from this review will inform the development of a training series and social marketing campaign to improve PCPs capacity in CRC. This manuscript provides details on our study protocol.ObjectivesThis scoping literature review aims to analyze existing literature on culturally responsive COVID-19 vaccinations between PCPs and patients in the U.S., specifically for racial, ethnic, sexual, and gender minoritized groups. Results of this scoping review will inform the development of a training series and social marketing campaign to improve capacity of PCPs in this area. Additionally, the review will inform recommendations for future research.Materials and methodsThis scoping review will be performed following the framework of Arksey and O'Malley and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Relevant studies between the years 2019-2022 were identified using a rigorous search strategy across four databases: MEDLINE (via PubMed), Scopus, Cochrane (CENTRAL; via Wiley), and CINAHL (via EBSCO), using Boolean and Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) search terms. Studies will be uploaded to the data extraction tool, Covidence, to remove duplicates and perform a title/abstract screening, followed by a full-text screening.ResultsThe data extraction and analysis phases of the scoping review are in progress. Data will be analyzed for themes related to culturally responsive COVID-19 screening practices in clinical encounters with the identified study populations. Results will be reported by theme and align to PRISMA-ScR guidelines.DiscussionTo our knowledge, this is the first study to use scoping methods to investigate the barriers and facilitators to CRC of COVID-19 vaccine screening for historically excluded communities in the U.S. The work and results from this research will be directly utilized for the development of nationally-accessible, continuing medical education materials to teach PCPs about CRC, as well as other materials to influence relevant policy changes within the healthcare landscape.

We anticipate that this study's findings will interest PCPs, public health professionals, community activists, patient populations, and researchers interested in culturally responsive care. The results of this scoping review will inform a practitioner-level intervention that will support culturally sensitive quality improvement of HIV-related prevention and care for patients from minoritized groups. Additionally, the themes and gaps found during analysis will guide future avenues of research related to this topic.

Para os propósitos deste resumo, partirei da concepção de patrimônio como uma categoria Estatal de gestão do espaço público e da memória social (SILVA 2017). Nesse escopo, gostaria de fazer algumas considerações sobre o uso dessa categoria como instrumento de luta, como retórica que possa carregar pautas sociais em negociação com o Estado pela melhoria da qualidade de vida da população – aqui, falo da população LGBT+. Veremos brevemente, ao final, o caso da Parada do Orgulho LGBT de São Paulo.

Na primeira etapa, através de uma indicação da equipe de saúde, foi selecionada a família a ser abordada. Thermal spraying (TS) is one of the main processes for obtaining surfaces with the desired protective properties in various industrial applications. TS is an energy-intensive treatment required to heat the application material and consumes different resources. To assess the environmental impact of TS, it becomes necessary to integrate an approach that jointly analyses and evaluates the economic and environmental variables influencing the system. The concept of eco-efficiency (EE) added to the TS process allows for assessing the environmental and economic condition through the survey and application of eco-indicators. The lack of an EE evaluation model for TS processes was identified based on literature searches. Thus, the overall objective of this work is to propose a conceptual model to evaluate the EE of TS treatment, selecting environmental and economic indicators considered more impactful in the process. The model developed consists of three main steps: (i) the input and output indicators (environmental and economic) are identified by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method; (ii) the structure to be employed in the model is defined; and (iii) the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model is applied to define the EE evaluation form. The proposed model consists of clear and easy-to-follow steps for evaluating the EE of spraying processes, filling the gap found in the literature. The use of DEA allowed the integration of the environmental and economic indicators obtained from the TS processes to generate important insights for evaluating EE. The results prove the model's effectiveness in identifying the EE results for each analysed unit of the TS process. The model has provided an evaluation consistent with the existing studies, and the EE scores were assessed according to twenty-one decision-making units (DMUs) allowing the identification of the most eco-efficient DMUs concerning TS processes.

Abstract Objective To analyze the prescription of antimicrobial agents for pregnant women admitted into the obstetrics service who presented with acute pyelonephritis. Methods Three cross-sectional studies were performed comparing the prescription of antimicrobials for pyelonephritis in pregnant women in the time periods evaluated (2010-2011: 99 patients evaluated; 2013: 116 patients evaluated; 2015: 107 patients evaluated), at the Hospital Fêmina, Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The analysis was performed before and after the promotion of an institutional protocol for the treatment of pyelonephritis during pregnancy, and on a third occasion after the introduction of a smartphone-based mobile educational tool. Results The evaluation of the prescribing physicians and the adequacy of the prescriptions between the different periods studied revealed a significant increase in appropriate conduct for the choice of antimicrobial (2010: 83.8%; 2013: 95.7%; and 2015: 100%), route of administration (2010: 97%; 2013: 100%; and 2015: 100%), and interval (2010: 91.9%; 2013: 95.7%; and 2015: 100%), following the introduction of the protocol, and again after the implementation of the softwareapplicationwithorientationsontheantimicrobial treatment. Conclusion The use of specific mobile applications should be encouraged to attain a better quality and accuracy in prescriptions and to include strategies that not only reduce the risk of negative outcomes, but also improve the quality of care and treatment for maintaining the health both of the mother and of the baby.
