The beneficial effects of balneotherapy have been proven by numerous clinical studies on locomotor disorders. To date, there is only scant data on changes in the microbiome system of the skin during balneotherapy. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of thermal water and tap water on the skin’s microbiome in healthy volunteers. 30 healthy female volunteers participated in the study. The experimental group (of 15 women) spent 30-min 10 times, in Gabriella Spring’s thermal baths (i.e., mineral water containing sodium hydrogen carbonate).The controlled group (15 women) had the same, but in tap water. The results of this study have proven that there is a difference in the influencing effects of tap water and medicinal water on the microbiome of the skin. After bathing in the thermal water of Lakitelek, Deinococcus increased significantly at the genus level, and the tendency for Rothia mucilaginosa bacteria also increased. At the species level, Rothia mucilaginosa increased significantly, while Paracoccus aminovorans and the tendency for Paracoccus marcusii decreased. When the values of the two trial groups after bathing at the genus level were compared, Rothia bacteria increased significantly, while Haemophilus tended to increase, Pseudomonas tended to decrease, Neisseria tended to increase significantly, and Flavobacterium tended to decrease. At the species level, Geobacillus vulcani decreased significantly, and the tendency for Burkholderia gladioli decreased. The growth of Rothia mucilaginosa and the decrease in the tendency of Paracoccus, Pseudomonas, Flavobacteroium, and Burkholderia gladioli confirm the beneficial effect of balneotherapy. In this study, trends are represented by the uncorrected p value. The main result was that the thermal water changed certain bacteria of the skin, both on the genus and species levels, but there were no significant changes in the tap water used, either at the genus or species level. We first compared the worlds of thermal water and tap water’s microbiome systems. The thermal water decreased the number of certain inflammatory infectious agents and could enhance some of their positive effects, which have been proven at the molecular level. Our results can provide an important clue in the treatment of certain skin diseases. The research of the skin microbiome during balneotherapy can be one of the most intriguing and exciting topics of the future and can bring us closer to understanding the mechanism of action of balneotherapy.

Abstract Background Although the number of point-of-care ultrasound devices available in Hungarian primary care practices are increasing due to government funding, their use in day-to-day patient care is limited and unregulated. Our study aimed to evaluate the attitudes and needs of general practitioners (GPs) and patients in Hungary regarding the introduction of bedside ultrasonography in primary care practices. Methods As a part of a cross-sectional study, an anonymous, self-administered questionnaire was distributed to GPs and patients on a social media platform. Data collection was carried out from August 2023 to October 2023. Chi-square test was used to determine the associations between categorical variables. Results The survey was completed by 415 GPs (mean age 53.8 ± 11.1 years, 54.9% female, mean 19.5 ± 11.9 years of practice) and 693 patients (mean age 45.5 ± 12.3 years, 95.2% female). There was a statistically significant increase in interest in PoCUS among young and middle-aged GPs (age 28–59; p = 0.02). Novel soil datasets and the application of pedotransfer functions provide soil hydraulic input data for modelling hydrological processes at different scales. We aimed to evaluate the reliability of soil hydraulic parameters derived by indirect methods in simulation of soil moisture time series and water budgets at profile level of three sites (Forest, Orchard and Grassland) from a Central European catchment (Lake Balaton, Hungary). Five soil-vegetation-atmosphere model variants were set up with the Hydrus-1D model for each site, differing only in the parametrization of input soil data: i) a calibrated reference, ii) measured values, iii) values predicted from measured basic soil properties, iv) values predicted from national soil map information, v) values derived from the 3D soil hydraulic dataset of Europe. Calibrated soil parameters led to Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency 0.50, 0.54 and 0.71 for the Forest, Orchard and Grassland Site respectively. The outcomes for model efficiency of soil moisture underline the superiority of local databases over regional ones and the need for more detailed vertical discretization during modelling. The model performance according to soil moisture and water budget accuracy led to different rank order of model variants. Water budget comparisons indicated moderate differences between the hydrologic fluxes simulated by the different model variants, emphasizing the uncertainties associated with soil hydraulic parametrization either at local or at watershed scale.

In this paper, novel application possibilities of CuO nanoparticles were investigated in SAC0307 solder alloy for composite soldering purposes. CuO nanoparticles in 0.25 and 0.5 wt% were mixed into the solder paste to produce composite solder joints. Solder joints were manufactured using standard surface mounting technology from different solder pastes. The solder joints were loaded in an 85 °C/85RH% temperature and humidity test for 4000 h. It was found that the CuO composite solder joints showed improved mechanical quality due to the microstructural refinement, which was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and focused ion beam (FIB) analysis. On the other hand, the corrosion resistance of CuO joints decreased, as they suffered localized corrosion extensively, which produced longer and more Sn whiskers on their surface than on the reference SAC0307. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations proved that CuO can bond to Sn, but CuO is not chemically inert in the solder bulk. CuO can start a cyclic reaction with the dispersed Cu6Sn5 intermetallics, which produces SnO2 in the solder bulk, ultimately enhancing corrosion. Therefore, CuO nanoparticles are suggested to be applied only in non-corrosive environments, such as space applications.

Abstract Background/Objectives Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a diagnosis-challenging disease that often mimics pancreatic malignancy. Pancreatic resection is considered to be a curative treatment for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). This meta-analysis aims to study the incidence of AIP in patients who have undergone pancreatic resection for clinical manifestation of cancer. Methods A comprehensive search was conducted in three databases, PubMed, Embase and the Cochrane Library, using the terms ‘autoimmune pancreatitis’ and ‘pancreatic resection’ and supplemented by manual checks of reference lists in all retrieved articles. Results Ten articles were included in the final analysis. 8917 pancreatic resections were performed because of a clinical suspicion of pancreatic cancer. AIP accounted for 140 cases (1.6%). Type 1 AIP comprised the majority of cases, representing 94% (132 cases), while type 2 AIP made up the remaining 6% (eight cases) after further classification. AIP accounted for almost 26% of all cases of benign diseases involving unnecessary surgery and was overrepresented in males in 70% of cases compared to 30% in females. The mean age for AIP patients was 59 years. Serum CA 19 − 9 levels were elevated in 23 out of 47 (49%) AIP patients, where higher levels were detected more frequently in patients with type 1 AIP (51%, 22 out of 43) than in those with type 2 AIP (25%, 1 out of 4). The sensitivity of IgG4 levels in type 1 AIP was low (43%, 21/49 patients). Conclusion Even with modern diagnostic methods, distinguishing between AIP and PDAC can still be challenging, thus potentially resulting in unnecessary surgical procedures in some cases. Serum CA 19 − 9 levels are not useful in distinguishing between AIP and PDAC. Work must thus be done to improve diagnostic methods and avoid unnecessary complicated surgery.

Abstract Background Donor-specific antibodies (DSAs) are common following lung transplantation (LuTx), yet their role in graft damage is inconclusive. Mean fluorescent intensity (MFI) is the main read-out of DSA diagnostics; however its value is often disregarded when analyzing unwanted post-transplant outcomes such as graft loss or chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD). Here we aim to evaluate an MFI stratification method in these outcomes. Methods A cohort of 87 LuTx recipients has been analyzed, in which a cutoff of 8000 MFI has been determined for high MFI based on clinically relevant data. Accordingly, recipients were divided into DSA-negative, DSA-low and DSA-high subgroups. Both graft survival and CLAD-free survival were evaluated. Among factors that may contribute to DSA development we analyzed Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) infection in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens. Abstract Since the ingestion of both natural and anthropogenic microfibers produces a deleterious effect on aquatic organisms, it is crucial to explore the emission of these pollutants by WWTPs into the receiving water bodies, such as rivers. Cellulose- and petroleum-based microfibers, as well as microplastic particles, were collected from the effluent of a municipal WWTP operating with activated sludge technology in Budapest, Hungary. During two sampling campaigns organized in February and April of 2023 on different working days and at different times of the day, 123–145 L of effluent was sieved and filtered. The organic matter was removed by hydrogen-peroxide treatment. All fibers and particles larger than 10 µm were counted, and using a fluorescence microscope, the fibers were geometrically characterized in terms of length and diameter. Each fiber was individually identified by transflection-FT-IR method. The fiber concentration varied in the range of 1.88–2.84 and 4.25–6.79 items/L during the 7th and the 16th week of 2023, respectively. In February and April, the proportion of microfibers in the solid particles was 78.3 and 94.7%, respectively. In the effluent the cellulose-based microfibers were dominant (53–91%), while among the petroleum-based microfibers, polyester occurred most often. The median length of cellulose-based fibers was considerably higher in April than in February (650 vs. 1250 µm), and simultaneously the median diameter also increased from 21 to 29 µm. This behaviour was also seen, albeit to a lesser extent, in connection to microfibers derived from petroleum. The treated wastewater’s daily microfiber transport to the Danube River varied between 0.44 − 0.69 and 0.94–1.53 billion in February and April 2023, respectively.

Castleman disease is a rare and atypical lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by diverse clinical manifestations. It has both unicentric and multicentric forms, the latter with further subdivisions, i.e., human herpesvirus 8-associated and idiopathic forms. The diagnosis of Castleman disease is often delayed, as it is rare, and because it shares clinical features with different autoimmune, inflammatory, and malignant lymphoproliferative disorders. The first-line treatment in unicentric form is mainly surgical, while in idiopathic Castleman disease, anti-interleukin-6 treatment is the therapy of choice. In virus-associated diseases, antiretroviral therapy and rituximab are recommended. In Hungary, only a few cases of Castleman disease have been published. This report presents our two decades of experience in the challenging diagnosis and management of this rare disorder, most properly underdiagnosed in Hungary. We provide insights into seven unicentric and five idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease cases, the latter ones especially highlighting the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges due to the variable and unique clinical features both of patients and diseases, e.g., bronchiolitis obliterans, stage IV diabetic renal failure, anti-HBc positivity, siltuximab treatment period, respectively.

The co-occurrence of myasthenia gravis (MG) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is rare; only one case has been published so far. We report a 63-year-old Caucasian female patient who was diagnosed with MG at the age of 43. Thymoma was also detected, and so it was surgically resected, which resulted in reasonable disease control for nearly 20 years. Slight hemolysis began to emerge, and then myasthenia symptoms progressed, so immunosuppressive therapy was started. Due to progressive disease and respiratory failure, the patient underwent plasmapheresis, and ventilatory support was stopped. Marked hemolysis was present, and diagnostic tests confirmed PNH with type III PNH cells. Her myasthenia symptoms aggravated, mechanical ventilation had to be started again, and due to the respiratory acidosis, massive hemolysis occurred. After two plasmapheresis sessions, the patient received eculizumab at 600 mg, resulting in prompt hemolysis control. After the second dose of the treatment, the patient was extubated. Still, due to their inability to cough, she developed another respiratory failure and pneumonia–sepsis, resulting in the patient’s death. This case highlights the rare association between these two serious diseases and similar immune-mediated pathophysiology mechanisms involving the complement system.

Abstract Background Premature ovarian insuffiency (POI) is one of the main cause behind infertility. The genetic analysis of POI should be part of the clinical diagnostics, as several genes have been implicated in the genetic background of it. The aim of our study was to analyse the genetic background of POI in a Hungarian cohort. Methods The age of onset was between 15 and 39 years. All patients had the 46,XX karyotype and they were prescreened for the most frequent POI associated FMR1 premutation. To identify genetic alterations next-generation sequencing (NGS) of 31 genes which were previously associated to POI were carried out in 48 unrelated patients from Hungary. Results Monogenic defect was identified in 16.7% (8 of 48) and a potential genetic risk factor was found in 29.2% (14 of 48) and susceptible oligogenic effect was described in 12.5% (6 of 48) of women with POI using the customized targeted panel sequencing. The genetic analysis identified 8 heterozygous damaging and 4 potentially damaging variants in POI-associated genes. Further 10 potential genetic risk factors were detected in seven genes, from which EIF2B and GALT were the most frequent. These variants were related to 15 genes: AIRE, ATM, DACH2, DAZL, EIF2B2, EIF2B4, FMR1, GALT, GDF9, HS6ST2, LHCGR, NOBOX, POLG, USP9X and XPNPEP2. In six cases, two or three coexisting damaging mutations and risk variants were identified. Conclusions POI is characterized by heterogenous phenotypic features with complex genetic background that contains increasing number of genes. Deleterious variants, which were detected in our cohort, related to gonadal development (oogenesis and folliculogenesis), meiosis and DNA repair, hormonal signaling, immune function, and metabolism which were previously associated with the POI phenotype. This is the first genetic epidemiology study targeting POI associated genes in Hungary. The frequency of variants in different POI associated genes were similar to the literature, except EIF2B and GALT. Both of these genes potential risk factor were detected which could influence the phenotype, although it is unlikely that they can be responsible for the development of the disease by themselves. Advances of sequencing technologies make it possible to aid diagnostics of POI Since individual patients show high phenotypic variance because of the complex network controlling human folliculogenesis. Comprehensive NGS screening by widening the scope to genes which were previously linked to infertility may facilitate more accurate, quicker and cheaper genetic diagnoses for POI. The investigation of patient’s genotype could support clinical decision-making process and pave the way for future clinical trials and therapies.

The Mór Wine Region (MWR) is one of the smallest ones in Hungary. Its area decreased continuously to only 724 hectares till 2022. Nevertheless, a spatial concentration of farms can be observed, like it has happened in other wine-growing regions of Hungary. Our principal aim is to investigate the sale channels with special consideration of the personal, market and online forms in the light of sustainability. The pandemic time is over, the online sales are in vain, the personal relationship between the winemaker and the customer is currently enjoying a revival period. Within the framework of mixed methods approach, we surveyed 28 winegrowers and wineries to fill in our semi-structured questionnaires, as main method in this article. After evaluating the questionnaires, we can say that some young wineries, thanks to good marketing activities, are able to take advantage of modern community-based media and are able to reach semi-wealthy social groups that usually consume wine. Unfortunately, the majority of wineries are not able to do so. Furthermore, there is a lack of cooperation between suppliers that can initiate smaller wineries to process and store grapes, and at least appear on the domestic market.

In patients with sickle cell disease (SCD), transfusions pose risks like delayed hemolytic transfusion reaction (DHTR) and hyperhemolytic syndrome (HHS). We present the case of a 61-year-old Nigerian male patient with SCD, developing hyperhemolytic syndrome (HHS) post-orthopedic surgery due to alloimmunization from blood transfusions. Surgery induced massive hemorrhage, requiring RBC transfusions. Postoperatively, he developed HHS with jaundice, hemoglobinuria, and fever. Despite additional transfusions, his condition worsened, leading to hematological consultation on postoperative day +9. Laboratory findings showed positive DAT and multiple alloantibodies. The diagnosis of HHS was established and treatment involved high-dose methylprednisolone, intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), and erythropoietin. The patient was discharged on postoperative day +24 with stable hemoglobin levels, tapering doses of methylprednisolone, and continuous administration of hydroxyurea prescribed. HHS pathogenesis involves extensive intravascular hemolysis, exacerbated by alloimmunization. Diagnostic challenges and therapy selection complexity underscore the need for cautious transfusion strategies in HHS, reserving them for hemodynamic instability or hypoxia. This case highlights promptly recognizing and managing HHS in SCD for improved outcomes and avoiding unnecessary transfusions.

Internal and external food safety audits and inspections are commonly implemented in food service establishments to uphold and enhance food safety standards. While the processes for various types of inspections are similar, each has distinct roles and implications. Self-checking involves inspections conducted by local staff within the food business. However, experts question the efficacy of this process, as it often fails to uncover food safety issues.This indicative study aimed to investigate whether self-checking can reveal food safety risks associated with primary and additional activities and identify which activities, if any, are misjudged by internal staff. An in-depth survey was conducted over four months in 10 school kitchens using a food safety control checklist, which was completed monthly by internal staff, an internal auditor, and an external auditor.The evaluations from external auditors consistently rated the kitchens lower than those from internal auditors and local catering managers. The most divergent judgments centered on personal hygiene practices, storage procedures, cleaning methods, and disinfection processes.Based on this data, food handlers tend to perceive their adherence to food safety practices as more robust than it is.

AbstractThis current study delves into the quality of consumer perception regarding brand channel integration that adopts the omnichannel approach. It specifically explores the impact of process consistency, breadth of the channel service choice, transparency of the channel service configuration, and content consistency, on customers’ inclination towards alternatives. The research incorporates the mediating role of retailer uncertainty and introduces the moderating factor of web-rooming. The analysis, based on data from 319 customers engaged with various omnichannel brands, revealed that the breadth of channel-service choice and process consistency emerged as the most influential factors. These factors contribute significantly to reducing retailer uncertainty and deterring customers from exploring alternative options. The implications of these findings are particularly valuable for industry practitioners, offering insights to shape effective omnichannel business strategies. By prioritizing the breadth of channels and ensuring process consistency, retailers can mitigate uncertainties in customers’ minds, thereby fostering retention and satisfaction.

Signaling pathways of Retinoblastoma (Rb) protein, Akt-kinase, and Erk-kinase (extracellular signal-regulated kinase) have an important role in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia. Constitutive activation of these proteins by phosphorylation contributes to cell survival by regulation of cell cycle, proliferation and proapoptotic signaling processes. According to previous data phosphorylated forms of these proteins represent a worse outcome for cancer patients. We investigated the presence of phosphorylated Rb (P-Rb), Akt (P-Akt) and Erk (P-Erk) proteins by Western blot technique using phospho-specific antibodies in bone marrow or peripheral blood samples of 69 AML patients, 36 patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and 10 healthy volunteers. Expression level of PTEN (Phosphatase and tensin homolog) and PHLPP (PH domain and leucine-rich repeat Protein Phosphatase) phosphatases, the negative regulators of Akt kinase pathway were also examined. We tested the effect of these proteins on survival and on the correlation with known prognostic features in AML. We found 46.3% of AML patients had detectable P-Rb, 34.7% had P-Akt and 28.9% had P-Erk protein. 66.1% of patients expressing PTEN, 38.9% PHLPP, 37.2% both PTEN and PHLPP and 32.2% neither PTEN nor PHLPP phosphatases. Compared to nucleophosmin mutation (NPMc) negative samples P-Erk was significantly less in nucleophosmin mutated patients, P-Rb was significantly less in patients’ group with more than 30 G/L peripheral leukocyte count by diagnosis. PHLPP was significantly present in FAB type M5. The expression of P-Rb represented significant better overall survival (OS), while P-Akt represented significantly worse event-free survival (EFS) in unfavorable cytogenetics patients. The presence of both PHLPP and PTEN phosphatases contributes to better OS and EFS, although the differences were not statistically significant. We confirmed significant positive correlation between P-Akt and PHLPP. Assessing the phosphorylation of Rb, Akt and Erk may define a subgroup of AML patients who would benefit especially from new targeted treatment options complemented the standard chemotherapy, and it may contribute to monitoring remission, relapse or progression of AML.

The linear feedback shift register (LFSR) and Gold codes are used in telecommunications, Global Positioning System (GPS), satellite navigation, wireless systems, and code division multiple access (CDMA) dependent channel schemes for numerous radio communication technologies Gold codes are distinguished by their capacity to provide various orthogonal sequences. • The objective of the article is to focus on the design and simulation of the LFSR-based gold code generator chip in Xilinx ISE 14.7 software with the logic synthesis in Virtex-5 field programmable gate array (FPGA) and check the switching behavior with large frequency support applicable in fast-switching optical, and wireless electronics systems. • The methodology comprises design, functional simulation with different test inputs, and FPGA synthesis. The chip design is verified for the 10-bit seeding sequence of LFSRs to result in 1023-bit code with the frequency support of 310 MHz, and 9.285 ns delay. • The chip design is simulated based on seed data and different tap points of LFSR registers from which the bits are considered to generate the feedback. The design is scalable and has greater potential to extend to a larger extent. The behavior of the gold code depends on the maximum length sequence, absolute cross-correlation, and size of LFSR.

Background: Industrial, e.g. food industrial and domestic wastewaters contain huge amount of compounds causing eutrophication, and should be removed with high cost during wastewater treatment. However, these compounds could be utilized as fertilizers too. Biochar can remove a wide range of pollutants from water, such as ammonium, which can be found in relatively high concentration in dairy wastewaters. However, adsorption performance may be affected by the presence of other wastewater pollutants. Thus, this study aims to determine the efficiency of biochar as an adsorbent of ammonium in aqueous solutions in the presence of some selected organic compounds of typical dairy wastewaters such as bovine serum albumin (BSA), lactose, and acetic acid. Methods: The biochar was produced from banana leaves at 300 °C, modified with NaOH, and characterized by Scanning Electron Microscope – Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), Fourier-transform infrared spectra (FTIR) analysis, and specific surface area measurements. Batch experiments were carried out to investigate the ammonium adsorption capacity and the ion competitive adsorption mechanism. Significant Findings: Results show that the surface structure of the biochar derived from banana leaves is different from other biochars previously studied; although the specific surface area is not very considerable and despite having nitrogen within the elemental composition, the biochar studied is capable of adsorbing 2.60 mg NH4+/m2, the highest ammonium removal in 2 h occurs at pH 9 and 500 mg biochar dose. Langmuir model in the monolayer phase analysis fits better for all scenarios and the maximum NH4+ adsorption capacity was 0.97 mg/g without organic compounds. In the multilayer adsorption phase, the isotherm model that best fits the data obtained is the Harkins-Jura model without organic compounds. The presence of organic compounds in the aqueous solution significantly impacts the adsorption of ammonium by biochar since it improves the adsorption capacity (1.132 mg/g BSA, 0.975 mg/g lactose, and 1.874 mg/g acetic acid). The Aranovich-Donohue isotherm model fitted the data obtained during ion competitive adsorption experiments well.

During vapour phase reflow soldering used in electronics manufacturing, the process control of ovens is usually based on temperature measurements, which can be insufficient due to the saturation differences in the temperature and the vapour concentration. Therefore, the ovens use extended cycle times for process identification to ensure the proper formation of solder joints. This study offers a solution to eliminate the idle time by investigating the hydrostatic pressure conditions in the process zone. A pressure measurement system was developed for vapour phase soldering ovens which can monitor the vapour pressure changes by a gauge-type pressure sensor with fused temperature measurement. It works as an IoT-enabled node for data logging and subsequent control. The fusion of the hydrostatic pressure values with the temperature values allowed us to identify and reduce the idle time by approximately 60 s, which is 15–20% of the total soldering cycle time. This increases the oven's yield by 15–20%, reduces the system's power consumption by 15–20%, and reduces time above liquidus of the solder by ∼35%. The presented method could enhance the more sustainable electronics production according to the Sustainability Development and could improve the quality and reliability of the lead-free solder joints.

Abstract In the last decade, intense research has been witnessed on developing compact, terahertz (THz) driven electron accelerators, producing electrons with a sub-MeV—few tens of MeV energy. Such economical devices could be used in scientific and material research and medical treatments. However, until now, the extremely high-energy THz pulses needed by the THz counterparts of the microwave accelerators were generated by optical rectification (OR) of ultrafast Ti:sapphire or Yb laser pulses. These lasers, however, are not very effective. Because of this, we use numerical simulations to investigate the possibility of generating high-energy THz pulses by the OR of pulses produced by CO2 lasers, which can have high plug-in efficiency. The results obtained supposing optical rectification (OR) in GaAs demonstrate that consideration of the self-phase-modulation (SPM) and the second-harmonic-generation (SHG) processes is indispensable in the design of CO2 laser-based THz sources. More interestingly, although these two processes hinder achieving high laser-to-THz conversion efficiency, they can still surpass the 1.5% value, ensuring high system efficiency and making the CO2 laser OR system a promising THz source. Our finding also has important implications for other middle-infrared laser-pumped OR-based THz sources.

Abstract There are several overlapping clinical practice guidelines in acute pancreatitis (AP), however, none of them contains suggestions on patient discharge. The Hungarian Pancreatic Study Group (HPSG) has recently developed a laboratory data and symptom-based discharge protocol which needs to be validated. Sunflower is considered a plant with extraordinary adaptability. However, the conditions of growing sunflower function as a limiting factor in its production. The hybrids used in production tolerate weather variability to a different level and utilise the nutrient and water resources of the soil, while the yield is also affected by the number of plants per hectare. In this study, the authors attempted to observe the environmental effects influencing sunflower cultivation, the heterogeneous productivity zones of the given production site and the correlation of the number of seeding plants used under various farm practices. The average rainfall of 2021 and the dry weather of 2022 created suitable conditions for examining the yearly weather effect. In the selected experimental areas, three distinguishable zones were defined in terms of productivity. In each productivity zone, three crop density steps were used in four replicates. Based on the performed comparative tests, the rainy year of 2021 resulted higher yield than the drier year of 2022 in the average- and high productivity zones, while in the low-productivity zone, higher yields were harvested under the drier conditions of 2022 than in the rainy year of 2021. In 2021, with the improvement in productivity, the obtained yield was also higher. However, in 2022, this clarity could not be demonstrated. In the zones with low productivity, identical yield results were observed in both weather conditions. Based on the examination of the obtained results, it was shown that the effect of weather conditions and the given number of plants have a smaller influence on the yield results of low-productivity zones, while these factors have a greater influence on the yields of high-productivity zones.

The article thoroughly investigates the relationships between terrain features and tree measurements derived from aerial laser scanning (ALS) data and field surveys in a 1067-hectare forested area. A digital elevation model (DEM) was generated from ALS data, which was then used to derive additional layers such as slope, aspect, topographic position index (TPI), and landforms. The authors developed a mathematical procedure to determine the radii for the topographic position index. The canopy height model was created, and individual trees were segmented using a novel voxel aggregation method, allowing for the calculation of tree height and crown size. Accuracy assessments were conducted between ALS-derived data and field-collected data. Terrain variability within each forest unit was evaluated using characteristics such as standard deviation, entropy, and frequency. The relationships between tree height and the derived topographic features within forest subcompartments, as well as the correlation between the height yield map for the entire area and the TPI layer, were analysed. The authors found strong correlation between the topographic position index and tree heights in both cases. The presented remote-sensing-based methodology and the results can be effectively used in digital forest site mapping, complemented by field sampling and laboratory soil analyses, and, as final goal, in carbon stock assessment.

Background and Objectives: The overall- and progression-free survival rates of Hodgkin’s lymphoma patients have improved. Our goal was to examine the changes in our treatment results and their causes depending on the daily diagnostic and therapeutic practice. Materials and Methods: We analysed data of 776 classical Hodgkin lymphoma patients treated between 1980 and 2019. Patient data were investigated in ten-year periods (first period: 1980–1989, second period: 1990–1999, third period: 2000–2009, and fourth period: 2010–2019). Results: Radiotherapy alone as a first-line treatment was used progressively less often, and in the 4th period it was no longer used before or without chemotherapy. The use of combined chemo- and radiotherapy decreased in the last period, and the number of those patients who received only chemotherapy increased significantly. The 10-year overall survival improved significantly from 1990 to 1999 compared to 2010 to 2019 (74.9% vs. 86.9%). About 30% of patients relapsed after or were refractory to first-line therapy in each period. The incidence of relapse in the last period did not increase after two years, but there was no significant difference between the periods. Conclusions: Overall survival rates of HL patients have improved significantly in recent decades, which is due to improved diagnostic methods and modern therapies. Progression-free survival is unchanged; one-third of patients relapse or are refractory to first-line treatment within the first two years. Early recognition of R/R patients, the early application of newer and already available innovative therapies, and the finding of additional new and effective therapies are of particular importance.

The current study investigated the novel factors influencing informatics students' happiness and satisfaction using statistical and machine learning algorithms. A statistical t–test proved that the students in the younger age group (=21) who had enrolled in master's programs (M.Sc.) that hybrid learning was a secure mode of education during the pandemic (p < 0.05). The happiness of students has had a significant influence on the challenges and prospects for online education that involve safety (p < 0.05). It was determined that factors such as time and cost utilization with management, university initiatives and assistance, and challenging group tasks substantially affected student satisfaction (p < 0.05). The paper's findings recommended some vital issues such as Internet disconnection during the lesson, Less support during technical glitches or errors, Less competitive environment, Possibility of cheating in exams due to lack of surveillance, Less focused and interactive during hybrid learning, important assistance and support, and safety modes for higher educational institutions during a pandemic. Using a maximum accuracy of 88%, Random Forest (RF) outperformed Logistic Regression (LR), Xtream Gradient Boosting (XGBoost), and other classifiers to predict student happiness based on hybrid learning features. The RF algorithm's superior performance was validated and confirmed by all performance metrics, such as F1-score, precision, recall, and specificity.

Maize (Zea mays L), as a major cereal crop produced in Hungary in addition to wheat, attracts enormous research from both educational and non-educational institutions. Research is aimed at addressing the key abiotic, biotic and social economic constraints. The stakeholders and institutions involved in research are spread all over Hungary. Currently, no review has been done to comprehensively reveal the trend of maize research in Hungary, as well as key players such as institutions, universities, industry and researchers. Hence, this bibliographic review was conducted to: i) identify the major research institutions and their contribution towards maize research in Hungary; ii) evaluate the major maize research areas in Hungary between 1975 and 2022. Literature search was conducted in Web of Science (WoS) database using keywords; ‘maize’ OR ‘maize’ + ‘Research’ + ‘Hungary’. Bibliometric analyses were performed using the VOSviewer software. Changes in the publication trend of documents was tested using Mann Kendall Test. A total of 947 publications related to the topic were published by 441 institutions between 1975 and 2022. There was a significant (p = 0.001) positive increase in the number of published documents. Hungarian Academy of Science (210 documents) and University of Debrecen (132 documents) recorded the highest number of publications contributing 58.7% of the maize research literature in Hungary. The major research areas included: increasing maize yield, hybrid development, pests and diseases, irrigation, fertilization (nitrogen), drought, temperature, gene expression and climate change. The increasing number of published documents signifies an improved response to addressing maize production challenges through research in order to boost its productivity.

IntroductionErdheim-Chester disease (ECD) is a rare disease that belongs to the group of Dendritic and histiocytic neoplasms. Only 2000 cases have been reported worldwide. It can present with a wide range of symptoms, making a differential diagnosis especially difficult. The primary and most important diagnostic tool is a biopsy of the affected organ/tissue. Nowadays the analysis of different mutations affecting the BRAF and MAPK pathways makes it possible to use targeted treatments, such as vemurafenib, dabrafenib, or cobimetinib.ObjectiveOur aim is to present the results of three male patients treated in our hematology department.ResultsOur BRAF mutation-positive patient presented with retroperitoneal tissue proliferation and diabetes insipidus. The initial therapy of choice was dabrafenib. After 3 months of treatment, 18F-fluoro-deoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET)/computed tomography (CT) scans showed regression, and after 2 years of treatment, no disease activity was detected. In our second patient, a recurrent febrile state (not explained by other reasons) and diabetes insipidus suggested the diagnosis. A femoral bone biopsy confirmed BRAF-negative ECD. The first-line therapy was interferon-alpha. After 3 months of treatment, no response was observed on 18FDG-PET/CT, and treatment with cobimetinib was started. The control 18FDG-PET/CT imaging was negative. Our third patient was evaluated for dyspnea, and a CT scan showed fibrosis with hilar lymphadenomegaly. A lung biopsy confirmed BRAF-negative ECD. We started treatment with interferon-alpha, but unfortunately, no improvement was observed. Second-line treatment with cobimetinib resulted in a partial metabolic response (PMR) according to control 18FDG-PET/CT.ConclusionsOur results demonstrate that an appropriately chosen treatment can lead to a good therapeutic response, but dose reduction may be necessary due to side effects. With advanced targeted therapeutic treatment options, survival and quality of life are significantly improved.

Objective Follicular lymphoma (FL) is an indolent, lymphoproliferative disease of B-cell origin that has a heterogeneous disease course with varying outcomes. Certain patients may undergo autologous stem cell transplantation. We investigated the outcome of autologous stem cell transplantation in patients with FL. Methods Patients who received autologous stem cell transplantation at the University of Debrecen’s Department of Hematology between 2004 and 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) after transplantation of patients with FL were examined. Prognostic factors that may influence the course of the disease were chosen. Results Data were collected from 49 patients. OS was influenced only by age, whereas PFS was affected by age and the lymphocyte/monocyte ratio. The combination of age and lymphocyte/monocyte ratio defined a patient population with a particularly unfavorable prognostic risk profile: patients over 47 years of age with a pre-transplant lymphocyte/monocyte ratio greater than or equal to 2.675. Conclusion Age and lymphocyte/monocyte ratio were identified as useful prognostic factors for PFS in patients with FL following autologous stem cell transplantation.

Clear-cutting is the most robust intervention in a forest ecosystem, causing marked changes in ecosystem processes. Although the effects of forest harvesting have been widely investigated, comparative studies can provide vital supplementary information concerning specific fields, including changes in soil microbiota structure and functioning. Our study examined the soil bacterial community composition, diversity, and activity of a mixed pedunculate oak stand over three years after clear-cutting based on 16S rRNA sequencing and substrate-induced respiration data. In addition, we conducted a yearly comparison with a control oak stand already in the regeneration phase. According to our results, the forest harvest caused only limited changes in the diversity, structure, and activity of the soil bacterial community of the oak stand, suggesting that soil parameters influence the soil bacterial community structure and functioning more significantly than the cessation of forest cover.

Distal arthrogryposis (DA) is a skeletal muscle disorder that is characterized by the presence of joint contractures in various parts of the body, particularly in the distal extremities. In this study, after a systematic review of the literature, we present a case report of a non-consanguineous family. In our case, the first-trimester ultrasound was negative, and the presence of the affected mother was not enough for the parents to consent to us performing invasive amniotic fluid sampling. The second-trimester ultrasound showed clear abnormalities suggestive of arthrogryposis. Whole-exome sequencing was performed and an autosomal dominantly inherited disease-associated gene was identified. In our case, a pathogenic variant in the TNNT3 gene c.188G>A, p.Arg63His variant was identified. The mother, who had bilateral clubfoot and hand involvement in childhood, carried the same variant. The TNNT3 gene is associated with distal arthrogryposis type 2B2, which is characterized by congenital contractures of the distal limb joints and facial dysmorphism. In the ultrasound, prominent clubfoot was identified, and the mother, who also carried the same mutation, had undergone surgeries to correct the clubfoot, but facial dysmorphism was not detected. Our study highlights the importance of proper genetic counseling, especially in an affected parent(s), and close follow-up during pregnancy.

The period of extreme weather anomalies in recent years has challenged farmers, and this has encouraged greater adaptability in farming practices. In the last decade, conventional tillage systems have been complemented by more biologically based cropping systems. The research evaluated the impact of drought on soil physical parameters in maize production by testing different conventional and non-conventional tillage systems to ensure optimal soil physical parameters. In the analysis of the prevailing weather conditions, rainfall values were divided into two parts, the pre-growing season and the growing season. We studied different climatic seasons. In 2021, the soil moisture content in the upper shallow 15 cm soil layer during the sowing period in April in the case of conventional tillage was significantly lower than in reduced tillage, conservation tillage and strip tillage. The most significant difference was measured between conventional and conservation tillage, with a difference of 11.25 v/v%. The 2022 crop year was extremely dry. In June, the highest moisture value in the soil was measured in the case of strip tillage with a value of 21.64 v/v%, which was more than 60% higher than in the case of conventional and conservation tillage. In conventional tillage, a very pronounced compacted layer was observed in the lower part of the ploughed layer. This zone reached a compaction of 6.9 MPa between 28 and 34 cm, which is agronomically harmful. No compacted soil layer was found in the experiment site under conservation tillage. In the severe drought year of 2022, only the strip-till system provided the proper water management conditions for the maize stand.

Given the current importance of using biochar for water treatment, it is important to study the physical–chemical properties to predict the behavior of the biochar adsorbent in contact with adsorbates. In the present research, the physical and chemical characteristics of three types of biochar derived from banana leaves were investigated, which is a poorly studied raw material and is considered an agricultural waste in some Latin American, Asian, and African countries. The characterization of non-modified biochar samples pyrolyzed at 300, 400, and 500 °C was carried out through pH, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and specific surface area measurements. The adsorption properties of banana leaf-derived biochar were evaluated by ammonium ion adsorption experiments. The results demonstrated that the pyrolysis temperature has a large impact on the yield, structure, elemental composition, and surface chemistry of the biochar. Biochar prepared at 300 °C is the most efficient for NH4+ adsorption, achieving a capacity of 7.0 mg of adsorbed NH4+ on each gram of biochar used, while biochar samples prepared at 400 and 500 °C show lower values of 6.1 and 5.6 mg/g, respectively. The Harkins–Jura isotherm model fits the experimental data best for all biochar samples, demonstrating that multilayer adsorption occurs on our biochar.

Soil bacterial communities play a remarkable role in nutrient cycling, significantly affecting soil organic material content, soil fertility, and, in an indirect way, plant succession processes. Conversely, vegetation type influences microbial soil life. The present study compared the bacterial microbiome composition, diversity and catabolic activity profile of topsoil samples collected under three different forest types (a twice-coppiced black locust stand, a young, naturally reforested, and a middle-aged mixed pedunculate oak stand) planted on former arable land in the early 20th century. Diversity indices determined during 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing-based metagenome analysis indicated that the black locust stand had the highest soil bacterial community diversity. At the phylum level, Acidobacteriota, Actinobacteriota, Proteobacteria, Verrucomicrobiota, Bacteroidota, and Gemmatimonadota were the most abundant taxa in the forest soils. Concerning soil parameters, redundancy analysis revealed that pH had the highest impact on bacterial community structure and pH, and soil organic carbon content on the samples’ respiration patterns. As for catabolic activity, the recently clearcut oak forest showed the lowest substrate-induced respiration, and citrate was the main driver for the inter-stand variability of microbial activity. Our results confirm that soil parameters and forest type influence the composition and functioning of the soil bacterial microbiome.

Corporate social responsibility has been extensively discussed and linked to the firm performance by the researchers. However, a significant research gap remains unexplored and that is measuring the association between corporate social responsibility, passenger satisfaction, and loyalty in the context of two international airports in China. This research also measures the moderating impact of green human resources management on the relationship between CSR, passengers' satisfaction, and loyalty. Data from two international airports in China were collected through a questionnaire. A total of 269 questionnaires were used for statistical analysis using Smart PLS 3.3. The findings from the statistical analysis revealed that corporate social responsibility in the airport affected passenger satisfaction and loyalty positively and significantly. Moreover, green human resource management in an airport plays a moderating role between corporate social responsibility, passengers' satisfaction, and loyalty. Overall, the study's findings enrich the literature on CSR, customer satisfaction, and loyalty, portray GHRM's role in the airport setting, and suggest practical indications for services industries. Discussions, limitations, and future recommendations are also given.

In this paper, the design and research of a sensor-based personal air-quality monitoring device are presented, which is retrofitted into different personal protective face masks. Due to its small size and low power consumption, the device can be integrated into and applied in practical urban usage. We present our research and the development of the sensor node based on a BME680-type environmental sensor cluster with a wireless IoT (Internet of Things)-capable central unit and overall low power consumption. The integration of the sensor node was investigated with traditional medical masks and a professional FFP2-type mask. The filtering efficiency after embedding was validated with a head model and a particle counter. We found that the professional mask withstood the embedding without losing the protective filtering aspect. We compared the inner and outer sensor data and investigated the temperature, pressure, humidity, and AQI (Air Quality Index) relations with possible sensor data-fusion options. The novelty is increased with the dual-sensor layout (inward and outward). It was found that efficient respiration monitoring is achievable with the device. With the analysis of the recorded data, characteristic signals were identified in an urban environment, enabling urban altimetry and urban zone detection. The results promote smart city concepts and help in endeavors related to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) 3 and 11.

Neuropathy is a serious and frequent complication of type 2 diabetes (T2DM). This study was carried out to search for genetic factors associated with the development of diabetic neuropathy by whole exome sequencing. For this study, 24 patients with long-term type 2 diabetes with neuropathy and 24 without underwent detailed neurological assessment and whole exome sequencing. Cardiovascular autonomic function was evaluated by cardiovascular reflex tests. Heart rate variability was measured by the triangle index. Sensory nerve function was estimated by Neurometer and Medoc devices. Neuropathic symptoms were characterized by the neuropathy total symptom score (NTSS). Whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed on a Thermo Ion GeneStudio S5 system determining the coding sequences of approximately 32,000 genes comprising 50 million base pairs. Variants were detected by Ion Reporter software and annotated using ANNOVAR, integrating database information from dbSNP, ClinVar, gnomAD, and OMIM. Integrative genomics viewer (IGV) was used for visualization of the mapped reads. We have identified genetic variants that were significantly associated with increased (22–49-fold) risk of neuropathy (rs2032930 and rs2032931 of recQ-mediated genome instability protein 2 (RMI2) gene), rs604349 of myosin binding protein H like (MYBPHL) gene and with reduced (0.07–0.08-fold) risk (rs917778 of multivesicular body subunit 12B (MVB12B) and rs2234753 of retinoic acid X receptor alpha (RXRA) genes). The rs2032930 showed a significant correlation with current perception thresholds measured at 5 Hz and 250 Hz for n. medianus (p = 0.042 and p = 0.003, respectively) and at 5 Hz for n. peroneus (p = 0.037), as well as the deep breath test (p = 0.022) and the NTSS (p = 0.023). The rs2032931 was associated with current perception thresholds (p = 0.003 and p = 0.037, respectively), deep breath test (p = 0.022), and NTSS (p = 0.023). The rs604349 correlated with values measured at 2000 (p = 0.049), 250 (p = 0.018), and 5 Hz (p = 0.005) for n. medianus, as well as warm perception threshold measured by Medoc device (p = 0.042). The rs2234753 showed correlations with a current perception threshold measured at 2000 Hz for n. medianus (p = 0.020), deep breath test (p = 0.040), and NTSS (p = 0.003). There was a significant relationship between rs91778 and cold perception threshold (p = 0.013). In our study, genetic variants have been identified that may have an impact on the risk of neuropathy developing in type 2 diabetic patients. These results could open up new opportunities for early preventive measures and might provide targets for new drug developments in the future.

The main joining process of the electronic industry is still soldering with different alloys of Sn. This work studied the relationship between Sn whisker growth and corrosion resistance of 99Sn0.3Ag0.7Cu–TiO2/ZnO (0.25wt%) composite solder alloys in a corrosive environment via scanning electron microscopy and focused ion beam techniques. The corrosive environment test showed that the application of TiO2 and ZnO nano-particles almost totally suppressed the Sn whisker growth and improved the corrosion resistance of the composite solder alloys compared to the reference 99Sn0.3Ag0.7Cu alloy. The microstructural analysis of the reference 99Sn0.3Ag0.7Cu solder alloy showed that the volumetric increase of the corroded β-Sn grains resulted in local mechanical stress in the solder joints, which was released by Sn whisker development. However, in the composite solder joints, the increased grain boundary fraction and segregation of the TiO2 and ZnO nano-particles to the grain boundaries resulted in a relatively uniform and compact protective oxide layer at the β-Sn grain boundaries. This suppressed the formation of SnOx, and via this, the corrosion-induced whisker growth.

Abstract Key message Climate envelope analysis of nine tree species shows that Fagus sylvatica L. and Picea abies H. Karst could lose 58% and 40% of their current distribution range. Quercus pubescens Willd and Quercus cerris L. may win areas equal with 47% and 43% of their current ranges. The ratio of poorly predictable areas increases by 105% in southern and south-eastern Europe. Context Climate change requires adaptive forest management implementations. To achieve climate neutrality, we have to maintain and expand forest areas. Impact assessments have great importance. Aims The study estimates the potential climate envelopes of nine European tree species for a past period (1961–1990) and for three future periods (2011–2040, 2041–2070, 2071–2100) under two emission scenarios (RCP4.5 and RCP8.5) based on the current species distribution. Methods Climate envelopes were estimated simultaneously using the random forest method. Multi-resolution segmentation was used to determine the climatic characteristics of each species and their combinations. Models were limited to the geographical area within which the climatic conditions correspond to the climatic range of the training areas. Results Results showed remarkable changes in the extent of geographic areas of all the investigated species’ climate envelopes. Many of the tree species of Central Europe could lose significant portions of their distribution range. Adhering to the shift in climate, these tree species shift further north as well as towards higher altitudes. Conclusion European forests face remarkable changes, and the results support climate envelope modelling as an important tool that provides guidelines for climate adaptation to identify threatened areas or to select source and destination areas for reproductive material.

This study applies the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method to develop a House of Quality (HoQ) framework for the Collaborative Apparel Consumption (CAC) business. The framework integrates inputs from customers and industry professionals to assess customer requirements and business goal specifications. The research identifies and prioritizes key attributes and design considerations for the CAC platform. The study reveals differences in perspectives between customers and service providers regarding attributes such as site organization, platform responsiveness and agility, legal protection and trustworthiness, peer service provider, and social interaction. Additionally, 14 design considerations are identified, including user-friendly interface, mobile compatibility, personalized recommendation, secure payment system, and customer review and ratings. By comparing customer insights with industry input, the HoQ framework enables the identification of gaps and the establishment of relationships between customer preferences, business requirements, and CAC goals. This research highlights the applicability of the QFD method for developing service designs in the context of collaborative apparel consumption. The findings contribute to enhancing customer satisfaction, improving business performance, and fostering open innovation with customers and industrial professionals in the innovation process.

UTIs (urinary tract infections) are common bacterial infections with a non-negligible hospitalization rate. The diagnosis of UTIs remains a challenge for prescribers and a common source of misdiagnosis. This retrospective observational study aimed to evaluate whether recorded diagnosis by clinicians and empirical antibiotic therapy met the EAU (European Association of Urology) guideline in patients hospitalized with UTI. The study was conducted at an internal medicine unit of a tertiary care medical center in Hungary. The diagnosis was assessed based on clinical presentation, physical examination, and laboratory (including microbiological) results, considering all the potential risk factors. Diagnosis was considered misdiagnosis when not confirmed by clinical presentation or clinical signs and symptoms. Evaluation of empirical antibiotic therapy was performed only for confirmed UTIs. Empirical treatment was considered guideline-adherent when complying with the relevant recommendations. Out of 185 patients, 41.6% failed to meet EAU-based UTI diagnosis criteria, of which 27.6% were misdiagnosed and 14.1% were ABU (asymptomatic bacteriuria). The diagnosis of urosepsis recorded at admission (9.7%, 18/185) was not confirmed either by clinical or microbiological tests in five (5/18) cases. The initial empirical therapies for UTI showed a relatively low rate (45.4%) of guideline adherence regarding agent selection. The most common guideline-non-adherent therapies were combinations with metronidazole (16.7%). Dosage appropriateness assessments showed a guideline adherence rate of 36.1%, and underdosing due to high body weight was common (9.3%). Overall (agent, route of administration, dose, duration) guideline adherence was found to be substantially low (10.2%). We found a relatively high rate of misdiagnosed UTIs. Written protocols on the ward may be crucial in reducing misdiagnosis and in optimizing antibiotic use.

(1) Background: Microinjection of zebrafish (Danio rerio) embryos offers a promising model for studying the virulence and potential environmental risks associated with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. (2) Methods: This work aimed to develop a P. aeruginosa infection model using two parallel exposition pathways on zebrafish larvae with microinjection into the yolk and the perivitelline space to simultaneously detect the invasive and cytotoxic features of the examined strains. The microinjection infection model was validated with 15 environmental and clinical strains of P. aeruginosa of various origins, antibiotic resistance profiles, genotypes and phenotypes: both exposition pathways were optimized with a series of bacterial dilutions, different drop sizes (injection volumes) and incubation periods. Besides mortality, sublethal symptoms of the treated embryos were detected and analyzed. (3) Results: According to the statistical evaluation of our results, the optimal parameters (dilution, drop size and incubation period) were determined. (4) Conclusions: The tested zebrafish embryo microinjection infection model is now ready for use to determine the in vivo virulence and ecological risk of environmental P. aeruginosa.

Mobile application acceptance is an emerging research area that gained wide-spread popularity. Managerially important but the overlooked aspect is mobile applications adoption effect on overseas resident’s life satisfaction. Travel applications make users’ life easier with a smooth travel satisfaction that contributes to life satisfaction. The users who perceive applications useful and easy to use are satisfied with life in South Korea. Moderating effects of travelers’ involvement between three types of transportation applications and perceived usefulness and ease of use, where people use mobile applications before and during traveling, to fulfill travel needs, location detail, and to make the right arrangements were identified as moderator of technology adoption model (TAM). Data collected from 400 users conclude that relation of usefulness with travel satisfaction is not significant while residents perceive ease of use were significant determinants of travel satisfaction. TAM acceptance influences travel satisfaction which provides more feeling too satisfied from life.

The author tries to investigate the thoughts and politics in literature about international circular migration in the lights of European Union (EU) initiatives related to Visegrad Four Countries (V4) with special attention to Hungary. The cross-border circular flows have become relatively frequent during life stages of people differentiated by previous migratory experiences, and next aspirations. The popularity of international circular migration erected from the hypothesis of ’triple win solution’ without any empirical verifications. Basically, two sorts of circular migration system exist: homogenous and heterogenous. The homogenous human circular migration system consists of the same kind of moves with similar time rhythm from statistical angles. It seems to us that the practice of life-long international circular migration characterises few long-term circulators. However, the heterogenous circular migration systems combine with other spatial mobility forms function during whole individual life cycle due to one of the symptoms of human beings. The main aim of the contribution is to explore some elements of similar ideas and politics on international circulatory flows interfered between Western and Eastern Europe. Moreover, we propose some old-new innovative solutions for V4 to reform the rigid EU migration policies.

Pomalidomide is a third generation immunomodulatory drug in the treatment of refractory and relapsed multiple myeloma patients. Our aim was to investigate the efficacy and safety of pomalidomide therapy in a real world setting. Eighty-six Hungarian patients were included, 45 of whom received pomalidomide ± an alkylating agent, while in 38 of them pomalidomide was combined with a proteasome inhibitor. 56 patients (65%) showed any response to the treatment with 18 complete or very good partial remissions and 38 partial remissions. At a median duration of follow-up of 18.6 months, the median progression-free survival (PFS) was 9.03 months, while the median overall survival (OS) was 16.53 months in the whole cohort. Patients with early stage disease (R-ISS 1 and 2) had better survival results than those with stage 3 myeloma (p = 0.002). Neither the number of prior treatment lines, nor lenalidomide refractoriness had a significant impact on PFS. PFS was found similar between the cohort of patients with impaired renal function and the cohort without kidney involvement. During the study, eight mortal infections and two fatal bleeding complications occurred, however, mild hematologic and gastrointestinal toxicities were identified as the most frequent adverse events. The results of our investigations confirm that pomalidomide is an effective treatment option for relapsed/refractory MM, besides, the safety profile is satisfactory in subjects with both normal and impaired renal function.

Abstract Today, sweet corn is considered an important vegetable due to its high sugar content and low starch content. Cluster analysis and variance analysis showed that hybrids had variations in yield indices. GB, DE and GS hybrids had similar performance on indices. SE hybrid that has significant performance on zeaxanthin. Biplot showed that fructose, glucose, sucrose and potassium had stability value on hybrids. All the hybrids had the best performance on fructose, glucose, sucrose and potassium factors. Factor biplot positively correlated with yield indices, including calcium, iron, zinc, magnesium, α-Carotene, 9Z-β-Carotene, phosphorus, and β-carotene. On the other hand, there is a positive correlation with fructose, glucose, potassium, lutein, sucrose, β-Cryptoxanthin, and zeaxanthin. So, to evaluate or increase lutein and zeaxanthin, the other parameters like sugar content (fructose, glucose, and sucrose) are important factors and have an effect together. Factor analysis and biplot showed that ME hybrid had a maximum performance on the first factor of yield indices. Also, the second factor of yield indices had a maxi-mum effect on NO hybrids. SE hybrids had maximum performance in zeaxanthin and GS hybrid had maximum performance in zinc, phosphorus, and iron. The dry matter had stability on DB hybrid.

Innovation plays great role in organizational competitiveness and sustainable business processes and it should be a key success policy for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) all over the world. To this effect, the purpose of this study is to present a comprehensive understanding of the scientific studies made on the field of innovation and its effect on small and medium enterprises performance. A bibliometric study was used to analyze articles published between 1976 and 2020 and create an illustrative map of innovation in small and medium enterprises; a sample of papers gathered through Web of Science Core Collection database. Accordingly, there were found 2219 documents which were published in 332 sources. VOS viewer was employed to portray network analysis of, authorship, keywords visualization, citations, and countries dealing with the subject. SCIMAT software was also used to do longitudinal thematic analysis. Even though many countries, universities, research institutes, funding agencies, and authors contributed for the growth of this field of study, almost all are from developed nations. This study is one amongst the very few studies made using bibliometric analysis in this field. Moreover, the thematic network diagram reveals two other new themes in the subject, which are taken as knowledge seed, and have high potential for a future study.

Abstract Background Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a potentially severe or even fatal inflammation of the pancreas. Early identification of patients at high risk for developing a severe course of the disease is crucial for preventing organ failure and death. Most of the former predictive scores require many parameters or at least 24 h to predict the severity; therefore, the early therapeutic window is often missed. Methods The early achievable severity index (EASY) is a multicentre, multinational, prospective and observational study (ISRCTN10525246). The predictions were made using machine learning models. We used the scikit‐learn, xgboost and catboost Python packages for modelling. We evaluated our models using fourfold cross‐validation, and the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the area under the ROC curve (AUC), and accuracy metrics were calculated on the union of the test sets of the cross‐validation. The most critical factors and their contribution to the prediction were identified using a modern tool of explainable artificial intelligence called SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP). Results The prediction model was based on an international cohort of 1184 patients and a validation cohort of 3543 patients. The best performing model was an XGBoost classifier with an average AUC score of 0.81 ± 0.033 and an accuracy of 89.1%, and the model improved with experience. The six most influential features were the respiratory rate, body temperature, abdominal muscular reflex, gender, age and glucose level. Using the XGBoost machine learning algorithm for prediction, the SHAP values for the explanation and the bootstrapping method to estimate confidence, we developed a free and easy‐to‐use web application in the Streamlit Python‐based framework (http://easy‐app.org/). Conclusions The EASY prediction score is a practical tool for identifying patients at high risk for severe AP within hours of hospital admission. The web application is available for clinicians and contributes to the improvement of the model.

In this paper, the effect of different thermocouple constructions on the hot spot temperature are investigated with a modelling approach to achieve more precise soldering profile acquisition and failure analysis at different reflow soldering heat transfer methods. The paper focuses on convection-based reflow and condensation based vapour phase soldering processes and related heat transfer coefficients. Different thermocouple constructions were investigated. The parameters include the ASTM-type (K, T, J), the length of uninsulated wire length, the insulation material (PFA, PVC, PTFE, woven glass-fibre), the insulation thickness and the diameter of the hot-spot. The physical dimensions were obtained with optical microscopy for validation. Finite element analysis was performed. After validation, the results show that most parameter and geometry changes – most significantly, the uninsulated wire end – can result in non-negligible timely differences in 100 ms range between different sensors, pointing to the requirement of sorting and pairing in a symmetric measurement environment. The results can be applied in a modern manufacturing environment and in future process modelling and evaluation tasks.

The dissolved organic and inorganic contaminants in rivers, lakes and seas are distributed among the aquatic phase, biota, sediments and biofilms formed on different artificial and natural substrata. Since the biofilms play an important role in the food web of aquatic ecosystems, it is necessary to clarify what kind of contaminants are bounded to these biological surfaces. In this study the concentration of eight pharmaceuticals (carbamazepine, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, diclofenac, metoprolol, sitagliptin, sulfamethoxazole and tetracycline) was determined in the Danube water at Budapest (Hungary) and in the biofilms formed on glass and polycarbonate substrata during a six weeks long growing period at the same sampling site. The target compounds were extracted from the dried biofilms by microwave (MW) assisted hot water treatment, however, the recovery of tetracycline was extremely low, indicating damage and loss of this constituent caused by MW treatment. The concentrations of the other seven pharmaceuticals were determined by LC-MS following the solid phase extraction of analytes. Clarithromycin, ciprofloxacin, diclofenac, metoprolol and sitagliptin were detectable in the biofilms due to biological uptake and electrostatic-mediated adsorption on the negatively charged biofilms, however, carbamazepine and sulfamethoxazole with neutral charge were not detected. The bioaccumulation factors of biofilms grown on glass or polycarbonate substrata changed between 175 and 614 and 148–314 L/kg, respectively, and increased in order of diclofenac
