Recent decades, have witnessed an emergence in the alternative use of ceramic materials in architectures designed with phenomenological sensitivity. This has implied rethinking materials and form, and an understanding of place that considers climate actively. This article analyses climate-conscious ways of using brick or other ceramic materials as enclosures that overwrite traditional applications and construction systems. These materials are transformed into skins and filters that provide protection from the sun while allowing natural ventilation and light. Applications employing the most advanced technology follow a computational logic characterised by digital disruption.

The main goal of this research activity is 3D data analysis and interpretation to study the geometric shaping of architectural elements belonging to Cultural Heritage moving from Point Cloud Semantic Segmentation to 3D modeling. We are testing Evolutionary Computing (EC) to study these shapes merging critical human-driven interpretation and Genetic Algorithms (GAs) driven interpretation. GAs allow to automate identification of open or closed polycentric curves (e.g. ovals) and of analytic curves (e.g. ellipse) starting from reality based planar sections (irregular polylines) extracted from point clouds. GAs, based on natural selection, are tools for solving both constrained and unconstrained optimization problems not well suited for standard algorithms. Moving from theoretical knowledge and treaties study, the research topic is the shape analysis and restitution of hemispherical domes profile (‘pointed arches’ or polycentric arches), i.e. ‘pointed domes’, and of ovoidal/ellipsoidal domes (generic and revolution surfaces). Starting from rules (from centers to points along profiles), our aim is to test a process to generate polycentric (closed or open) and elliptic profiles nearest to reality-based sections (from point along reality-based profiles to centers layout). The Evolutionary Solver (Galapagos component, GH, Rhino) starts from the identification of a given number of points (GENE POOL, i.e. variables) along the irregular reference polyline to select the best solutions (SELECTION) towards the optimal solutions (continuous semi-ideal profile) that best fit the reference curve by minimizing or maximizing different comparison conditions between the two curves (FITNESS).DOI: https://doi.org/10.20365/disegnarecon.26.2021.19

This paper aims to explore shadow in Street Art by collecting and testing shadow street artworks as main tools to investigate interaction between man, urban environment and social identy as psychogeographic manifestation. Psychogeography, introduced by Debord in the 1950s, studies correlations be-tween psyche and environment, challenging classical geography and supporting the creative re-definition of urban space. According to these premises, Shadow Street Art can be considered as an alternative form of Street Art thanks to the strong psycho-environmental dimension and involvement generated by exclusively monochrome, colorless graffiti and sudden, evanescent projections. Furthermore, the main goal of street artists who work with real shadows is to design 4D works: time is the main parameter to control the whole process. Parametric-generative digital tools allow to simulate dynamic projective process and perspective anamorphic transformation of shadows on walls, streets or squares according to specific environmental (geographical, temporal parameters) and technical (light design) parameters. La actividad de investigación dedicada a la gestión y comunicación de formas arquitectónicas complejas favorece al voxel, volumetric pixel (picture element), como principal herramienta tecnológica que caracteriza la producción física y virtual de la segunda era digital. El proceso de voxelización distorsiona y fragmenta la imagen fluida y abstracta de la arquitectura líquida que caracteriza la primera era digital. Desde la arquitectura calculada a la construida, el proceso de voxelización manipula la imagen del proyecto para encontrar una solución tecnológicamente más accesible. Las imágenes de los experimentos artísticos y arquitectónicos más recientes, resultado de herramientas digitales generativas y computacionales consolidadas, testifican un enfoque de diseño caracterizado por un tecnicismo avanzado.Por lo tanto, esta comunicación nos invita a reflexionar sobre el impacto visual de la necesidad actual de inmediatez resolutiva y optimización económica constructiva, expresiones de la sociedad contemporánea, que son determinantes en la figuración del concepto de complejidad arquitectónica.

Mining sites represent one of the greatest challenges for territorial regeneration policies in Europe and in the world, often defined, in their spatial-typological connotations, with meanings that generally suggest negative qualities such as episodic fragmented and, at times, degraded spaces, not highlighting their value as ‘cultural landscapes’. Despite a preliminary and non-exhaustive national and regional regulatory framework, the issue of enhancing these areas needs greater attention from the scientific community, especially in respect of the current international scenario. Specifically, due to its numerous concentration of mining areas, the territorial reality of the Campania region deserves particular attention, with the development of an open information system from which to derive a synoptic representation of the state of affairs that integrates the historical-cultural identity with the figurative and perceptive dimension of places.
