An environmentally safe means of mosquito control is the application of Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis, which produces a cocktail of four naturally crystalline proteins exclusively toxic to mosquito. Here the authors report the atomic-resolution structures of Bti Cry11Aa and related Btj Cry11Ba solved de novo through Serial Femtosecond Crystallography on naturally-occurring nanocrystals.

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) is a natural crystal-making bacterium. Bt diversified into many subspecies that have evolved to produce crystals of hundreds of pesticidal proteins with radically different structures. Their crystalline form ensures stability and controlled release of these major virulence factors. They are responsible for the toxicity and host specificity of Bt, explaining its worldwide use as a biological insecticide. Most research has been devoted to understanding the mechanisms of toxicity of these toxins while the features driving their crystallization have long remained elusive, essentially due to technical limitations. The evolution of methods in structural biology, pushing back the limits in size of amenable protein crystals now allows access to be gained to structural information hidden within natural crystals of such toxins. In this review, we present the main parameters that have been identified as key drivers of toxin crystallization in Bt, notably in the light of recent discoveries driven by structural biology studies. Then, we develop how the future evolution of structural biology will hopefully unveil new mechanisms of Bt toxin crystallization, opening the door to their hijacking with the aim of developing a versatile in vivo crystallization platform of high academic and industrial interest.

The development of finely tuned and reliable crystallization processes to obtain crystalline formulations of proteins has received growing interest from different scientific fields, including toxinology and structural biology, as well as from industry, notably for biotechnological and medical applications. As a natural crystal-making bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) has evolved through millions of years to produce hundreds of highly structurally diverse pesticidal proteins as micrometer-sized crystals. The long-term stability of Bt protein crystals in aqueous environments and their specific and controlled dissolution are characteristics that are particularly sought after. In this article, we explore whether the crystallization machinery of Bt can be hijacked as a means to produce (micro)crystalline formulations of proteins for three different applications: (i) to develop new bioinsecticidal formulations based on rationally improved crystalline toxins, (ii) to functionalize crystals with specific characteristics for biotechnological and medical applications, and (iii) to produce microcrystals of custom proteins for structural biology. By developing the needs of these different fields to figure out if and how Bt could meet each specific requirement, we discuss the already published and/or patented attempts and provide guidelines for future investigations in some underexplored yet promising domains.

Aim. Evaluation and correction of local antimicrobial protection factors in women with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM 2) and chronic recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (rVVC). Materials and methods. The study involved 100 women undergoing outpatient follow-up at the age of 40.9±5.8 years, with a body mass index of 29.8±3.5. The period was 2022–2023. The examination included anamnesis, collection of anthropometric data, calculation of body weight, microscopic examination of smears from the cervical canal and vagina, Gram-stained before treatment, in the 1st and 3rd months after its completion, identification pathogenic microorganisms using PCR, colposcopy, ultrasound of the pelvic organs. Indicators of glycosylated hemoglobin in the subjects at the control points of the study: at 1 month the average values were 5.9±2.9%, at 3 months – 5.9±3.0%, the average value was 5.9±3.1%. Candida species were identified by the bacteriological method using Sabouraud dextrose agar (growth of colonies of fungi of the genus Candida in an amount of more than 103 CFU/ml). Immunological methods for studying antimicrobial protection factors included studying the number of neutrophil granulocytes (NG) on the surface of the mucous membranes of the vulva and vagina, their phagocytic and NBT-reducing activity in a latex test. Randomization of patients into groups: group 1 included 50 (50%) women with DM 2 who, as part of complex therapy for rVVC received the drug Genferon® 1 intravaginal suppository of 500 thousand units 2 times a day for 10 days and fluconazole 150 mg orally three times with an interval of 72 hours at the first stage of treatment; group 2 included 50 (50%) women who received therapy with fluconazole 150 mg three times with an interval of 72 hours. The maintenance anti-relapse course therapy in both groups included the use of fluconazole 150 mg once a week for 6 months. In group 1st anti-relapse therapy was supplemented by the administration of the drug Genferon® 1 intravaginal suppository of 500 thousand units at night 3 times a week for 3 months, after which the vaginal microbiota was corrected for 2 weeks using vaginal suppositories, containing Lactobacillus acidophilus in an amount of at least 108 CFU. In group 2nd, basic anti-relapse antimycotic therapy was not accompanied by the prescription of any immunomodulatory or probiotic drugs. Results. The etiological agents of rVVC in women of late reproductive age in 79% (n=79) и 28% (n=28), respectively, were C. albicans and C. glabrata, which during the period of acute of the disease were detected by culture in the vaginal discharge at more than 104 CFU/ml. Chronic recurrent course of vulvovaginal candidiasis in women with DM 2 was characterized by exacerbations 4 or more times a year, accompanied by the corresponding clinical picture: white or yellowish-white cheesy discharge from the genital tract, itching or burning in the anogenital area, discomfort in the external genital area, dyspareunia, dysuria, decreased phagocytic activity of NG in vaginal secretions by 25.8%, impairment of their spontaneous and latex-induced NBT-reducing activity by 35.2%, functional reserve by 23.0% relative to reference values. The use of the drug Genferon® as part of complex therapy for rVVC contributed to a decrease in the number of Candida spp. in 1st and 3d months of observation after completion of anti-relapse therapy, normalization of cellular factors of innate immunity of the mucous membranes, faster resolution of the clinical manifestations of an episode of the disease. The decrease in the number of relapses over a 12-month observation period compared to the control group was also facilitated by an increase in the protective properties of the vaginal mucosa due to the restoration of the vaginal microbiota with the help of lactobacilli acidophilus. Conclusion. The etiological agents of rVVC in women of late reproductive age are C. albicans and C. glabrata. Subcompensated DM 2 is a risk factor for rVVC, which requires additional monitoring of microbiological parameters of the vaginal microbiota. rVVC in women with DM 2 is associated with an increase in the number of NG in the vaginal secretion, a decrease in their phagocytic activity and functional reserve compared to the reference values. Combination therapy of rVVC with topical recombinant interferon α2b, benzocaine and taurine in the formulation of Genferon® (suppositories) is an effective method to improve the clinical and immunological efficacy of therapy.

The color of grain in cereals is determined mainly by anthocyanin pigments. A large level of genetic diversity for anthocyanin content and composition in the grain of different species was observed. In rye, recessive mutations in six genes (vi1...vi6) lead to the absence of anthocyanins in all parts of the plant. Moreover, dominant genes of anthocyanin synthesis in aleurone (gene C) and pericarp (gene Vs) also affect the color of the grain. Reverse phase high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry were used to study anthocyanins in 24 rye samples. A lack of anthocyanins in the lines with yellow and brown grain was determined. Delphinidin rutinoside and cyanidin rutinoside were found in the green-seeded lines. Six samples with violet grains significantly varied in terms of anthocyanin composition and content. However, the main aglycone was cyanidin or peonidin in all of them. Monosaccharide glucose and disaccharide rutinose served as the glycoside units. Violet-seeded accession forms differ in the ratio of the main anthocyanins and the range of their acylated derivatives. The acyl groups were presented mainly by radicals of malonic and sinapic acids. For the colored forms, a profile of the revealed anthocyanins with the indication of their contents was given. The obtained results are discussed in connection to similar data in rice, barley, and wheat, which will provide a perspective for future investigations.

The presented clinical observation shows the role of a multidisciplinary team of doctors in the treatment of acute kidney injury (AKI) in a patient suffering from bronchial asthma and metabolic syndrome (morbid obesity, arterial hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus). The importance of correcting metabolic disorders (diet, self-monitoring of glycemia, urate- and glucose-lowering therapy) has been demonstrated both as part of the complex therapy of AKI and for the prevention/slowing of further kidney damage.

Переформатирование мирохозяйственных связей актуализирует активизацию Россией сотрудничества на Большом евразийском пространстве на базе ЕАЭС. Цель исследования — обоснование подхода к оценке ресурсной обеспеченности перспектив развития Большого евразийского пространства. На базе подхода Б. Балассы и анализа документов авторы предлагают градацию пяти институциональных уровней (сверх ЕАЭС) развития Большого евразийского пространства и определяют их интеграционные контуры: I уровень — страны, с которыми у ЕАЭС заключено соглашение о зоне свободной торговли; II — иное соглашение; III — сотрудничество прорабатывается; IV — велись переговоры; V — страны, которые проявляли интерес к соглашению. Согласно 4 традиционным типам факторов производства, выделяются 8 видов ресурсной обеспеченности: сырьевая, агроклиматическая и продовольственная, трудовая, интеллектуальная, по производственным мощностям, транспортной инфраструктуре, внедренческая, финансовая. Для их оценки предлагаются показатели как представленные в статистике, так и рассчитанные авторами: число занятых в отдельном секторе, добавленная стоимость в сегменте обрабатывающей промышленности, удельное число исследователей в группе стран, превышение 3-летнего госбюджета над госдолгом, запасы суммы горючих ископаемых и др. Проведенная оценка ресурсной обеспеченности выделенных уровней показала, что за 2000–2021 гг. значительно выросла доля Большого евразийского пространства в мировом ВВП, природно-ресурсной ренте, промышленности, включая высокотехнологичную, в генерации патентов, инвестициях, грузоперевозках. Вклад ЕАЭС в Большое евразийское пространство существенен по фактору «земля», транспортной инфраструктуре, безопасности бюджета, в т. ч. со странами, помимо Китая, — по факторам «труд», «земля», ВВП; вклад отдельно Китая — по фактору «труд», производственные мощности, транспортная инфраструктура, технологии, международные резервы. Такое распределение ресурсов актуализирует кооперацию ресурсных возможностей внутри Большого евразийского пространства, особенно с целью разработки, внедрения и глобального продвижения передовых производственных технологий. Полученные результаты могут применяться при выборе механизмов и инструментов международного экономического сотрудничества и служить основой для будущих исследований в сфере моделирования баланса движения товаров, услуг и факторов производства между странами Большого евразийского пространства.

Aim. To evaluate the efficacy of endovideoscopic urethra-sparing simple prostatectomy via an extraperitoneal approach (EUSP) for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Materials and methods. In the period from January 2021 until September 2022 8 patients underwent EUSP. Initial clinical datas, perioperative and postoperative outcomes, implications, IPSS questionnaires, IIEF-5 and ejaculatory datas have been evaluated. The technique of the present method was adopted from Ping Wang, Dan Xia, SunYi Ye, DeBo Kong, Jie Qin, TaiLe Jing, YeQing Mao, HongZhou Meng, Shuo Wang (2018). Results. Seven (87.5%) patients underwent EUSP successfully, 1 (12.5%) patient needed conversion into open simple prostatectomy. Mean time of operation was 171 minutes (150–185), mean blood loss was 232 ml (180–300). In 2 (25%) cases urethral reconstruction after damage was needed. Mean catheterization time was 1.5 days (1–4). According to Clavien–Dindo classification (2004) such complications were found: low degree – 2 (1 or 2 group), 3а group – 1 (severe hematuria, when bladder infusion is needed). Mean management time was 8.4 months (6–11). Results from post-operative questionnaire IPSS (p0.1) и QoL (p0.1) significantly improved. Totally 4 patients had secure erectile function: 3 of them had normal erection, the last one (1) – retrograde ejaculation. Conclusion. EUSP is technically applicable for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Patients have shorter time of catheterization, risk profile, significant improvement of urination и support of antegrade ejaculation.

Aim. To estimate the efficacy of endovideoscopic simple prostatectomy via extraperitoneal research as treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Materials and methods. In the period since January 2021 until May 2022 45 males with prostatic volume 60 g have underwent extraperitoneal endovideoscopic retropubic prostatectomy was. Endovideoscopic research consisted of standard technical steps: the creation of preperitoneal workspace, hemostasis control in the area of lateral peduncles and dorsal venous complex, anterior transverse incision of prostatic capsule, simple prostatectomy and organ extraction. Results. Mean weight of resected prostatic tissue was 79.3±17.4 g. Mean operation time was 104.3±25.4 min. No conversion into open prostatectomy was needed. Blood transfusion was provided in 3 patients. After 6 months 40 patients demonstrated decrease of mean IPSS (International Prostate Symptom Score) from 25.5±2.4 to 6.2±2.1, increase of Qmax from 6.1±2.8 to 18.7±3.4 ml/s. No patients had urinary incontinence. Conclusion. Endovideoscopic retropubic simple prostatectomy via extraperitoneal research (Millin’s method) is workable and technically simple surgical method.

Background. Membranous nephropathy (MN) is an immunocomplex glomerular disease, which is the most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in adults. Numerous studies have established that autoantibodies against the target podocyte autoantigens, including the thrombospondin type 1 domain containing 7A (THSD7A), play a leading role in the development of idiopathic MN. Aim. To evaluate the prevalence of anti-THSD7A autoantibodies (anti-THSD7A AB) in a group of Russian patients with MN. Materials and methods. Serum titers of anti-THSD7A AB were tested in 61 patients with biopsy-proven MN and 12 healthy controls. Results. The prevalence of anti-THSD7A AB was not differing significantly in patients with MN and in the control group (110.9 [71.63; 210.62] and 159.25 [125.64; 231.97] pg/ml, respectively; p=0.111). When comparing subgroups of anti-PLA2R-negative patients and patients who did not receive immunosuppressive therapy with the control group, there were also no statistically significant differences in the Anti-THSD7A AB levels (p0.05). In the MN group, 1 (1.6%) patient was anti-THSD7A-positive: a 60-year-old man with anti-PLA2R-negative MN and the presence of hormonally inactive adenomas of both adrenal glands and colon polyps (villous adenoma with focal moderate dysplasia, tubulo-villous and tubular adenoma with focal moderate severe dysplasia). Conclusion. THSD7-associated MN is a rare variant of MN and is usually detected in PLA2R-negative patients. Screening for malignancies in THSD7A-positive MN patients is proposed.

Reproductive health care involves helping families in this area with the provision of the necessary information. This is recognized as a key step in improving the health of men, women and children and is a fundamental human right. Everyone has the right to have access to a correct understanding of reproductive health care, choice of contraceptive method and the opportunity to benefit from scientific progress in this area. Over the past 35 years, significant progress has been made in the development of new contraceptives: the content of hormones in combined oral contraceptives has significantly decreased, inert intrauterine contraceptives have been replaced by more progressive, levonorgestrel-containing ones including low-dose generation. Combined hormonal compounds were synthesized in the form of injections, patches and vaginal rings, progestogen implantable and injectable contraceptives. Women who use contraceptives must take into account the state of health (including the presence of endocrine pathology) in order to use them without harm to their health. Based on the World Health Organization Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Methods 2015, the Russian Medical Eligibility Criteria for Contraceptive Methods 2023 is designed to become an important tool in daily practice of doctors.

The plans announced by the European Union to impose a carbon fee by 2022 on commodities purchased from both European and external manufacturers make it increasingly relevant to examine the adaptation of Russian and European companies to low-carbon requirements. The article aims to assess the financial technological costs, technological achievements and energy transition risks for enterprises in Russia and the EU. Theoretical approaches to analyzing technological effects of carbon requirements on enterprises constitute the methodological framework of the study. The research methods of comparative qualitative and quantitative analysis were used in relation to technologies introduced by European and Russian large companies, reached values and dynamics of the carbon footprint in manufacturing, energy consumption, the percentage of renewable energy, the size of costs and investments, projected parameters of traditional energy, the EU plans, and the cost price of alternative energy. The empirical evidence includes public reports of European and Russian exporting companies affected by the carbon fee introduction, as well as microeconomic statistics. The analysis showed that both European and Russian major exporters by the end of 2021 had already initiated certain efforts to reduce their carbon footprint and achieved satisfactory outcomes in this area. In some cases, the Russian companies were even more successful than the European ones, but in general they lagged behind. However, expenses of the European companies are more significant, and energy transition risks for them are higher, which significantly reduces the dividend received by the leader. We propose recommendations to protect Russian business, including export-oriented one, from excessive costs incurred in the development of low-carbon energy. These recommendations can be of use for authorities when implementing industrial policy.

The article examines the main features of the individual style of the American science fiction writer Ted Chiang and the peculiarities of their translation into Russian language. The relevance is related to the fact that the individual style of the writer has not yet become a subject of study, despite popularity of his works. The problem of author’s style in translation is critical as there is no unanimity on criteria to define style-forming elements of author’s style. The purpose of the study is to identify the main features of the author’s individual style and their forming factors, as well as the ways to translate them into Russian. For this we analyze the genre affiliation of the work, writer’s sphere of interest, ideological and thematic components, characters’ images and stylistic means, the type of narration, as well as the translation in terms of preserving or transforming these features. The material: T. Chiang’s sort novel Story of Your Life (2002). Results of the study: by textual comparison we define T. Chiang’s style elements and show that some of them are extralinguistic, also we describe their translation strategies.

Increasing prospective phytochemical investigations and biological activities on Pueraria lobata and Trifolium pratense flowers exhibited their nutritional (food industry) pharmaceutical (anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, etc.) potentials. Previous studies paid great attention to the screening of isoflavones profile from phytochemicals. This study, in contrast, aimed at identifying the flavonoids from Pueraria lobata flowers or kudzu flower (KF) and Trifolium pratense flowers or red clover (RC) flowers and determining their cytotoxic activities on normal; (HEK-293) and cancer cell lines; human glioblastoma (A-172), osteosarcoma (HOS), embryonic rhabdomyosarcoma (Rd), lung carcinoma (A-549) and liver carcinoma (HepG2). The phytochemical screening using a high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (HPLC-DAD-Q-TOF/MS) showed that 15 flavonoids, including isoflavones, flavones, flavonols, and flavanones, were identified in KF and 8 flavonoids, including isoflavones and flavonols, were found in RC. Nevertheless, the majority of flavonoid chemical constituents in KF or RC were found to be isoflavones (66.6%) and (62.5%), respectively. HPLC-DAD analysis following eco-friendly extraction of phytochemicals showed that KF contains mainly daidzein and genistein, while RC contains primarily formononetin and biochanin A. Cytotoxic activities evaluated according to IC50 values exhibited the most pronounced dose-dependent antiproliferative effect of KF and RC extracts were against HOS and Rd cancer cell lines, respectively. Accordingly, the morphological observation carried out using acridine orange/ethidium bromide and Giemsa stains revealed apoptotic activities and cell death in HOS and Rd cell lines when subjected to KF or RC extracts. Cytotoxic activities and apoptotic changes were pronounced among all cancer cell lines except for the control cells (HEK-293). Additionally, various polyphenols and flavonoids were identified and quantified in KF and RC extracts and exhibited potent radical scavenging activities. Overall, this study suggests that KF and RC could be valuable edible sources of flavonoids. The comprehensive flavonoid profiles for KF and RC may explain their remarkable biological activities and contribution to inducing antioxidant and cytotoxic activities against cancer cell lines.

This article is devoted to the concepts of gastronomic discourse, given by foreign and Russian scientists, and the analysis of the features of Russian and Chinese cooking videos. The aim of the article was to identify some features of subtitling gastronomic videos. The material of the study was a cooking video in Chinese, available on YouTube. We applied methods of discourse analysis, semantic analysis, component analysis, and comparison and collation method within the specified language pair. During the study, such difficulties as difference in the number of symbols, the polysemy of words, the translation of proper names and ingredients-realia, and different language transformations such as addition, omission, compression and literal translation were considered. Each difficulty found its solution according to the specifics of cooking topic and subtitling.

The aim of the study was to fabricate and characterize composite macroporous hydrogels based on a hyaluronic acid/chitosan (Hyal/Ch) polyelectrolyte complex (PEC) loaded with homogeneously distributed hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (nHAp), and to evaluate them in vitro using mouse fibroblasts (L929), osteoblast-like cells (HOS) and human mesenchymal stromal cells (hMSC). Hydrogel morphology as a function of the hydroxyapatite nanoparticle content was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). The mean pore size in the Hyal/Ch hydrogel was 204 ± 25 μm. The entrapment of nHAp (1 and 5 wt. %) into the Hyal/Ch hydrogel led to a mean pore size decrease (94 ± 2 and 77 ± 9 μm, relatively). Swelling ratio and weight loss of the hydrogels in various aqueous media were found to increase with an enhancement of a medium ionic strength. Cell morphology and localization within the hydrogels was studied by CLSM. Cell viability depended upon the nHAp content and was evaluated by MTT-assay after 7 days of cultivation in the hydrogels. An increase of the hydroxyapatite nanoparticles loading in a range of 1–10 wt. % resulted in an enhancement of cell growth and proliferation for all hydrogels. Maximum cell viability was obtained in case of the Hyal/Ch/nHAp-10 sample (10 wt. % nHAp), while a minimal cell number was found for the Hyal/Ch/nHAp-1 hydrogel (1 wt. % nHAp). Thus, the proposed simple original technique and the design of PEC hydrogels could be promising for tissue engineering, in particular for bone tissue repair.

Purpose. The manuscript is devoted to the burning issue of education internationalization in modern society. Having come to study in Russia, many international students face a number of difficulties concerning various aspects of their life activity. The authors aim to study international students’ opinion regarding their residence in the European North and their study at the Russian medical university. Methodology. Survey findings of 149 Indian students studying at the International Faculty of General Practitioners of the Northern State Medical University (NSMU), Arkhangelsk compose the research basis. Results. Main challenges encountered by international students in the conditions of the European North, their attitude to the organization and quality of the educational process in the university were revealed. Cold climate, language barrier, the lack of traditional foods and separation from family are believed to be the main factors that make it difficult for junior students to learn. Senior students express their disappointment at the lack of clinical practice due to the distance learning during the pandemic and different level of students and teachers’ language proficiency. In general, students speak positively about university educational process and are satisfied with Russian education quality. Practical implications. Research findings can be used to develop recommendations for improving the socio-pedagogical adaptation of international students in Russian universities.

Background. The ongoing pandemic of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) draws attention to the significance of molecular and genetic monitoring of the SARS-CoV-2 spread among the population of the Russian Federation. The aim of the study was to analyze the dynamics of circulation of SARS-CoV-2 genetic variants in Russia. Materials and methods. The analysis of the circulation dynamics for SARS-CoV-2 genetic variants in Russia was carried out, covering the period from 28/12/2020 to 26/6/2022. The analysis included the data from Rospotrebnadzor Report No. 970 "Information about Infectious Diseases in Individuals with Suspected Novel Coronavirus Infection" and the Virus Genome Aggregator of Russia (VGARus). The presence of SARS-CoV-2 RNA was confirmed by the real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The primer panels developed at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology were used for amplification of genomic fragments and the subsequent sequencing. Results and discussion. Using the Russian VGARus platform developed by the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology, we received the data on mutational variability of SARS-CoV-2. By monitoring the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 genetic variants in Russia from 28/12/2020 to 26/6/2022, we found that Delta and Omicron genetic variants prevailed at different stages of the epidemic. Conclusion. The data of molecular and genetic studies are an essential component of epidemiological surveillance, being critically important for making executive decisions aimed at prevention of further spread of SARS-CoV-2 and laying the groundwork for creating new vaccines.

The article identifies and argues the need for the development of international tourism as one of the elements of the mechanism for overcoming the raw material orientation of exports of the KHMAO-Yugra through the analysis and synthesis of the above and generalized factual and statistical materials of the authors of scientific papers of similar and related areas, which necessitate the diversification of exports of the oil and gas producing region by developing the tourism services industry on the world market. Based on the analysis of the material presented in this article, the current characteristics of the situation in Yugra are given, recommendations are given on the directions of development of international tourism in the district. The main provisions and conclusions of the article can be used in the scientific and practical activities of the regional authorities when considering issues of export diversification through the development of international tourism. Purpose is to substantiation of the need for the development of international tourism as one of the tools to overcome the raw materials orientation of the export of KhMAO-Yugra and the development of its neo-industrial specialization Methodology. The opinion and conclusions of the authors are formed through the analysis and synthesis of the above and generalized factual and statistical materials, the authors of scientific works of related areas that necessitate the diversification of exports of the oil and gas producing region through the development of the tourism services industry (inbound tourism). Results. During the analysis of inbound tourism as one of the areas of export diversification, some problems were found. The analysis, assessment of the tourist region of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug and substantiation of the main factors and problems that limit the volume of internal and external tourist flows allows us to formulate ways to solve their implementation for the expanded Autonomous Okrug in the field of ethno-tourism. All this gives rise to the prerequisites for the development of business, cultural, educational, ethnographic, ecological, sports, water, active, health-improving, developed and auto tourism. Practical implications. The results of this study can be applied in the scientific and practical activities of regional authorities in addressing issues of export diversification, including through the development of international tourism, will contribute to the development of this area, as well as consideration of other promising ways to diversify exports of goods and services.

Pericytes are mural vascular cells covering microvascular capillaries, where they contribute to the formation, maturation, maintenance, stabilisation and remodelling of vasculature. They actively interact and communicate with other cells to maintain the capillary structural integrity, vascular permeability and blood flow. Pericytes are crucial participants in the physiological and pathological processes of cardiovascular disease. In this review, we summarise recent data regarding pericyte metabolism, trans-differentiation, angiogenesis and immunomodulation in connection with different cardiovascular pathologies. Further, we discuss an application of pericytes as a new cell therapy approach to treat coronary artery disease, congenital heart disease, atherosclerotic plaques calcification and calcific valvular heart disease in different in vivo animal models and in vitro studies. Also, we discuss different methods and pharmacological therapies for CVDs treatment with pericyte-mediated effects. Finally, we present a comprehensive overview of the role of pericytes in CVDs and as a pharmacological target for different novel drugs and techniques and highlight the potential application of pericytes to treat CVDs.

Pericytes are perivascular multipotent cells wrapping microvascular capillaries, where they support vasculature functioning, participate in tissue regeneration, and regulate blood flow. However, recent evidence suggests that in addition to traditionally credited structural function, pericytes also manifest immune properties. In this review, we summarise recent data regarding pericytes’ response to different pro-inflammatory stimuli and their involvement in innate immune responses through expression of pattern-recognition receptors. Moreover, pericytes express various adhesion molecules, thus regulating trafficking of immune cells across vessel walls. Additionally, the role of pericytes in modulation of adaptive immunity is discussed. Finally, recent reports have suggested that the interaction with cancer cells evokes immunosuppression function in pericytes, thus facilitating immune evasion and facilitating cancer proliferation and metastasis. However, such complex and multi-faceted cross-talks of pericytes with immune cells also suggest a number of potential pericyte-based therapeutic methods and techniques for cancer immunotherapy and treatment of autoimmune and auto-inflammatory disorders.

Life in a modern metropolis is not only an interesting and eventful life, but also a source of numerous features for human life: imperfect environmental conditions, dietary habits, sleep disturbances and circadian rhythms, changes in psychological status (stress, depression, aggression, apathy) and reproductive health problems, especially in women. As defined by the World Health Organization, reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not simply the absence of disease in all areas related to the reproductive system, its functions and processes. Life in a big city for a woman of the reproductive period is often accompanied by a violation of the menstrual and ovulatory function, which can be attributed to the symptoms of the megalopolis syndrome. Since the 1980s, the frequency of menstrual irregularities has increased by more than 7 times. The doctor clinician, to whom a woman of the reproductive period with an irregular menstrual cycle first turns, should not only draw up a plan for examining a woman and exclude the presence of endocrine-gynecological disorders, but also collect a detailed history, including physical status (for example, calculating body mass index, analyzing fluctuations weight), dietary habits, sports history, medication intake, first assess the role of the psychosomatic factor. The correct pathogenetic approach in this situation will determine the correct therapeutic tactics for managing a woman.

The reproductive potential of a woman depends on indicators of the ovarian reserve, such as the anti-Muller hormone (AMH) and the number of antral follicles (NAF). Autoimmune diseases have a significant effect on fertility and contribute to the development of premature ovarian failure. Aim.To evaluate the parameters of the ovarian reserve in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus, carriers of antibodies to the thyroid gland in a state of euthyroidism and compare them with similar parameters in healthy women. Materials and methods.In the first block of the study, the level of AMH, follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, NAF was studied among 224 women with diabetes and 230 healthy women in the control group. In block II, the level of the above hormonal indices was studied in 35 carriers of antithyroid antibodies in the state of euthyroidism and 35 healthy women. Results.In patients with type 1 diabetes, the level of AMH, NAF was statistically significantly lower when compared with the control group. Among carriers of antithyroid antibodies and healthy women, no difference in AMH and NAF was found. Conclusion.The autoimmune processes accompanying diabetes are more influenced by the ovarian reserve indices than autoimmune aggression to the tissues of the thyroid gland.

The problem of export diversification remains pressing for Russia, which needs to increase the share of the non-resources exports, and in particular, the share of higher valueadded products. The paper aims to examine the spatial differentiation of the Russian exports by various entities (federal districts, regions, top exporting companies), including in the sectoral context, and for the latter considers the most important machines and equipment sector. The methodological basis of the research rests on regional and spatial economics and theories of foreign economic activity. The paper applies economic-statistical methods, including the corre lation analysis. The authors examine Russia and its regions’ exports for 2013–2018 based on the data of Russia’s Federal State Statistic Service and Federal Customs Service and reveal “consist ency” between production and export of mechanical engineering products in the four groups of regions. The analysis demonstrates high importance of the resources export for the national economy and high spatial differentiation of exports, including of the non-resources ones. Dur ing 2013–2018, the mechanical engineering production and export grew in 27 regions, how ever, on average, high-tech production is more focused on the domestic market. The analysis confirms the significance of export as a channel of production preservation and can serve as a contribution to justify the necessity to develop the new industrial export specialisation. The results of the research can be of use to the institutions of economic development (government authorities) to outline the perspectives of the regional development of export.

Due to rapid technological changes, there is a need to consider the digitalization of the economy as a global competition tool, especially in regards to non-resource export. The study examines the relationship between the total regional export of technological products and digitalization of the Russian economy. We hypothesise that the developing digitalization of business effectively increases the regional export of technological products. As the methodological basis, we focus on various theoretical approaches of foreign and Russian authors to assessing the digitalization impact on the development of national and regional economies. For assessing that impact, we created a model that evaluates the correlation between the export of technological products and probable impact factors, including an integrated digitalization index. The author’s typology of the Russian regions allowed identifying the differences in their digitalization processes. The research method is the regression analysis that includes the ordinary least squares method. We tested the research model on the data of Federal State Statistic Service and Federal Customs Service for 2018. As a result, we determined four types of regions and confirmed that digitalization is a driver of their economic development: the level of digitalization influences the global competitiveness of the regions, including high-tech exports. The model can be considered as a tool for analysing and predicting the development of technological export for 4 types of regions. For each type, we described possible development strategies, aimed at overcoming the limitations in technological export, taking into account the digitalization of business. Authorities and companies competing for new strategic markets can apply the research findings for developing and implementing the mechanisms and tools of digitalization in order to ensure the leadership of the regions in terms of technological export.

The Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor presents priority data obtained from the largescale population PCR-based study of the changes in the rates of circulation of SARS-CoV-2 among relatively healthy residents of Moscow and Moscow Region.

By definition, contraception is the prevention of pregnancy and infection from diseases by mechanical, chemical and other contraceptives and methods. According to World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, up to 40% of women of reproductive age still believe that their needs for family planning services are not met during counseling. When recommending contraception, it is important to consider: the characteristics of the potential consumer, the underlying risk of the disease, possible undesirable drug reactions of various drugs, the cost, availability and preferences of the woman herself. Women are often forced to abandon the use of a contraceptive method in connection with adverse events, for example, when using combined oral contraceptives (COCs), they may feel worse (headaches, mood lability, weight gain, swelling, decreased libido) in a hormone-free interval, especially with the reception mode 21/7. Lack of contraception can lead to an increased risk of an unwanted pregnancy. According to statistics in the Russian Federation in 2018, the absolute number of abortions amounted to 567 183, which, according to the UN classification, corresponds to the average level (level of abortion rate per 1000 women of childbearing age). According to clinical practice, there is a relationship between deterioration of well-being and the duration of the hormone-free interval. At the moment, in our country there is the only COC, which has a hormone-free interval of 2 days, containing bioidentical estrogen estradiol valerate and dienogest. According to the Cochrane Library, COCs with a short hormone-free interval are most effective in relation to the clinical manifestations of the estrogen withdrawal syndrome. WHO calls on clinicians to raise womens awareness of modern methods of contraception.

Obesity is a recurring polyetiological disease. Overweight are 30–60% of women of reproductive age, and 25–27% are obese. By 2025, it is expected that 50% of women on our planet will be obese. Obesity in women of reproductive age is accompanied by a high frequency of anovulation, hyperandrogenism, menstrual irregularities, endometrial pathology, infertility. During pregnancy, this group of women has a higher risk of short term loss, including pregnancy in the outcome of assisted reproductive technologies. Weight gain and obesity can lead to decreased fertility in women. The body mass index of a woman of reproductive age negatively affects the course of pregnancy, namely: the risk of gestational diabetes, increased blood pressure, eclampsia, the pathological course of the birth act and the pathology of the newborn increase. Obesity in women of reproductive age is an independent risk factor for cancer: breast cancer and endometrial cancer, and also leads to a decrease in the survival rate for ovarian cancer. Obesity often accompanies polycystic ovary syndrome, which occurs in every 10th patient of reproductive age. The combination of these diseases increases the risk of cardiometabolic conditions such as impaired glucose tolerance, type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia. Weight loss in these patients is a necessary component of complex therapy aimed at improving reproductive potential.

Pericytes are multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells playing an active role in angiogenesis, vessel stabilisation, maturation, remodelling, blood flow regulation and are able to trans-differentiate into other cells of the mesenchymal lineage. In this review, we summarised recent data demonstrating that pericytes play a key role in the pathogenesis and development of atherosclerosis (AS). Pericytes are involved in lipid accumulation, inflammation, growth, and vascularization of the atherosclerotic plaque. Decreased pericyte coverage, endothelial and pericyte dysfunction is associated with intraplaque angiogenesis and haemorrhage, calcification and cholesterol clefts deposition. At the same time, pericytes can be used as a novel therapeutic target to promote vessel maturity and stability, thus reducing plaque vulnerability. Finally, we discuss recent studies exploring effective AS treatments with pericyte-mediated anti-atherosclerotic, anti-inflammatory and anti-apoptotic effects.

The review article presents data on the effects of obesity on the female reproductive system and offspring of mothers with overweight or obesity, such as infertility, miscarriages, premature birth, stillbirth, congenital anomalies and prematurity, as well as a high risk of cesarean section. Obesity accompanies polycystic ovary syndrome, worsening the metabolic profile and increasing the risk of developing depression and eating disorders. Maternal obesity and hyperglycemia are able to influence the formation of the fetus by epigenetic mechanisms without affecting the nucleotide sequences. Subsequently, the metabolic and cardiovascular risks increase in the descendants of obese or overweight mothers and gestational diabetes. Patients with obesity are characterized by a folic acid deficiency and a deficiency of the luteal phase. Exogenous administration of these substances improves pregnancy outcomes and prevents congenital malformations.

Present literature review provides information about clinical trials that evaluated the association of the carriage of antithyroid antibodies (ATA) and the reduction of the ovarian reserve, as well as the effectiveness of assisted reproductive technologies. The ambiguity and sometimes the opposite of the conclusions of different authors, makes it possible to recommend a balanced attitude to the advisability of screening for ATA in women with a reproductive dysfunction as well as the therapeutic measures proposed in some guidelines based on the results of such examination.

The article reveals the trends in foreign economic development of Russian and American pharmaceutical industry. The study aims to substantiate the trends of prevailing import dependence of Russian pharmaceutical sector and export orientation of American one. Moreover, we define the main directions of export in Russian pharmaceutical industry based on the development trends of world industry leaders. We focus on identifying what is the nature and how close is the relationship between the factors of business’ innovation and complexity, on the one hand, and increasing the sector’s export orientation, on the other hand. The research methodology is based on the domestic and foreign literature on foreign economic activity in pharmaceutical industry. Furthermore, the methods include the pharmaceutical industry assessment by international institutions (particularly, the World Economic Forum). We used the data from United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) statistics, American and Russian international ratings, and the results of analytical studies of innovation processes in bio-pharm-medical sector. We hypothesise that there is a correlation between the factors of business innovations and maturity, and the volume of pharmaceutical industry export. The correlation analysis has revealed the relation between innovation development and export growth, suggesting the export’s integration into the national strategy of pharmaceutical industry. The comparative analysis of the Russian and American pharmaceutical industries has demonstrated that the increase in the export-oriented products in Russian pharmaceutical industry will be determined by the degree of the integration of information technologies into all stages of research and pharmaceutical business. The developers and ideologists of national export strategy in pharmaceutical industry might implement the study’s conclusions and recommendations on federal and regional levels. Further scientific research should focus on substantiating ways to increase the pharmaceutical industry’s competitiveness, corresponding to the fundamental information, technological and personnel challenges of this industry development.

Premenstrual syndrome is defined as a combination of physical and mental symptoms that have a significant impact on a woman’s quality of life and develop into the second phase of the menstrual cycle. Many patients have not been diagnosed, and therefore pathogenetic treatment is not carried out, although these complaints may disrupt the daily lives of patients and relationships with others. The article presents a review of the literature and studies that assessed the effectiveness of various treatment options (antidepressants, hormone therapy, lifestyle modification and herbal therapy).

The purpose of the research is to substantiate what kind of influence the import substitution has on the positioning of different types of regions in the system of international economic relations. The research is focused on two types of regions — the industrial type (the Sverdlovsk region) and the agricultural type (Rostov and Krasnodar regions). The research hypothesis is following: import substitution influences not only the replacement of imported goods by the domestic ones, but also can change regional positioning in the international economic relations system. The authors propose the methodological approach. It examines the regional economy according to three levels: a system of entities engaged in foreign economic activity; a system of the support of import substitution and export orientation in a region; a system of international economic relations. Regional positioning in the system of international economic relations is expressed in manufacture and agriculture exports and imports. Our methodological approach reveals the dependence between manufacture and agriculture exports and imports and the manufacturing and agriculture output, including correlation analysis. . We have offered a technique based on the comparative analysis of the effectiveness of import substitution in two regions’ types applying correlation analysis. The analysis has shown the interrelation of the development processes of domestic manufacturing and agriculture, their export and import in 2005– 2016. The import decrease and export increase (after 2014) were mainly due to regional specialization in international division of labour. This demonstrates the results of import substitution. The research results can be used for further development of the strategies of regional international economic activity including such instruments as import substitution and export promotion.

Background: The frequency of menstrual disorders in patients with acromegaly is 40–84% and are caused by three main reasons – the development of normal or hypogonadotropic hypogonadism due to hyperprolactinemia or a mass effect of the tumor and direct effects of GH and IGF-1 on the reproductive system. Nevertheless the exact mechanisms of reproductive dysfunction are not clear now. Hypothalamic structures play significant role in the regulation of hypothalamic-pituitary-ovary axis, so it’s important to study key neuropeptides and evaluate their effects to the pathogenesis of ovarian dysfunction during excessive secretion of growth hormone. Aim: The aim of the work is to study the hormonal regulation of menstrual function in patients of reproductive age with acromegaly in the active stage of the disease. Material and methods: The study included patients with a confirmed diagnosis of acromegaly and healthy women, comparable in age and BMI. Blood serum samples were taken in the morning (8–9 hours) on an empty stomach for 3–5 days of the menstrual cycle or on any day with amenorrhea and frozen at -70°C. The hormonal study was carried out by an enzyme immunoassay, in the case of a kisspeptin, with the preliminary extraction of serum samples. Results: The study included 31 patients with acromegaly and 15 healthy women. Between groups there was a statistically significant decrease in levels of LH (p = 0.001), FSH (p = 0.09), inhibin B (p = 0.003), and kisspeptin (p = 0.00005). The frequency of hyperprolactinemia in the cohort of patients was 51.6%. During the correlation analysis, a negative dependence of kisspeptin on the levels of GH and IGF-1 was detected (r = -0.54, p = 0.002 and r = -0.63, p = 0.0002). Conclusions: The severity of the central depression of regulation of menstrual function in patients with acromegaly may be due to the degree of disease activity.

Amyloids are protein aggregates with a highly ordered spatial structure giving them unique physicochemical properties. Different amyloids not only participate in the development of numerous incurable diseases but control vital functions in archaea, bacteria and eukarya. Plants are a poorly studied systematic group in the field of amyloid biology. Amyloid properties have not yet been demonstrated for plant proteins under native conditions in vivo. Here we show that seeds of garden pea Pisum sativum L. contain amyloid-like aggregates of storage proteins, the most abundant one, 7S globulin Vicilin, forms bona fide amyloids in vivo and in vitro. Full-length Vicilin contains 2 evolutionary conserved β-barrel domains, Cupin-1.1 and Cupin-1.2, that self-assemble in vitro into amyloid fibrils with similar physicochemical properties. However, Cupin-1.2 fibrils unlike Cupin-1.1 can seed Vicilin fibrillation. In vivo, Vicilin forms amyloids in the cotyledon cells that bind amyloid-specific dyes and possess resistance to detergents and proteases. The Vicilin amyloid accumulation increases during seed maturation and wanes at germination. Amyloids of Vicilin resist digestion by gastrointestinal enzymes, persist in canned peas, and exhibit toxicity for yeast and mammalian cells. Our finding for the first time reveals involvement of amyloid formation in the accumulation of storage proteins in plant seeds.

Background: Premature aging are frequently observed among individuals with type 1 diabetes. Decrease of ovarian reserve may be one of the characteristics of such process. Aims: To evaluate the ovarian reserve function in female patients of reproductive age with type 1 diabetes in comparison with healthy women. Materials and methods: This study evaluated 224 Caucasian women, age 18–37 years with type 1 diabetes and 230 healthy women of comparable age. Serum concentrations of anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH), inhibin B, follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), estradiol, progesterone and testosterone were compared on the 2–3 day of menstrual cycle as ovarian volume and antral follicle count (AFC). In addition, glycated hemoglobin level (HbA1c%) was evaluated. Results: We reveal statistically significant difference in following parameters in diabetic women in comparison with healthy women: AMH, AFC. But even in diabetic patients parameters remained within reference ranges. There was a pronounced negative relationship between the levels of HbA1c% and AMG. Conclusions: Ovarian reserve function parameters decrease in young women with type 1 diabetes in comparison with healthy women, but ovarian reserve parameters are in normal reference range. These findings are important in pregnancy planning consulting by gynecologists and endocrinologists. We must recommend to women with type 1 diabetes more early planning of natural pregnancy for treatment with reproductive technology in cases of prolog absence of nature pregnancy.

In current geo-economic conditions, we need to consider the foreign economic factor as an instrument for structural changes, for the diversification of regional economy, as well as for the realization of a policy of import substitution, including exportoriented one. The article generalizes and systemizes preconditions and sources of the research of regional foreign economic activity in the works of the scientific school of the Institute of Economics of Ural Branch of RAS since the middle of the 1980s. The Institute was one of the first among the regional centres of the academic science of the country, which has addressed the foreign economic relations of a region. The purpose of the article is to systematize both the evolution of scientific definitions and the development of the Ural school of regional foreign economic research during the 30-years period. We apply the interdisciplinary approach and a broad range of methods: a historical method, an economic and statistical method, a comparative analysis, etc. The paper has systemized and characterized the research directions carried out by the staff of the Institute and in cooperation with Russian and Ural colleagues from other institutions. There are geo-economic shifts; international comparative research; regions’ involvement into global economic relations; realization of Ural export potential in terms of neo-industrialization and import substitution; international economic cooperation in the framework of SCO, BRICS, Eurasian Economic Union, etc. The Academician A. I. Tatarkin played an invaluable role as the Head of the Institute from 1990 to 2016. He initiated, facilitated and led many research directions. Thanks to this, the Institute of the Ural Branch of RAS over the years has being a kind of regional research-communicational platform, where scientists can search the mechanisms and tools for the realization of the foreign economic potential of the region with an account of national priorities. It underlines a high practical importance of the research in this sphere

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, which came to Russia in March 2020, is accompanied by morbidity level changes and can be tracked using serological monitoring of a representative population sample from Federal Districts (FDs) and individual regions. In a longitudinal cohort study conducted in 26 model regions of Russia, distributed across all FDs, we investigated the distribution and cumulative proportions of individuals with antibodies (Abs) to the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid antigen (Ag), in the period from June to December 2020, using a three-phase monitoring process. In addition, during the formation of the cohort of volunteers, the number of seropositive convalescents, persons who had contact with patients or COVID-19 convalescents, and the prevalence of asymptomatic forms of infection among seropositive volunteers were determined. According to a uniform methodology, 3 mL of blood was taken from the examined individuals, and plasma was separated, from which the presence of Abs to nucleocapsid Ag was determined on a Thermo Scientific Multiascan FC device using the “ELISA anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG” reagent set (prod. Scientific Center for Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology), in accordance with the developer’s instructions. Volunteers (74,158) were surveyed and divided into seven age groups (1–17, 18–29, 30–39, 40–49, 59–59, 60–69, and 70+ years old), among whom 14,275 were identified as having antibodies to SARS-CoV-2. The average percent seropositive in Russia was 17.8% (IQR: 8.8–23.2). The largest proportion was found among children under 17 years old (21.6% (IQR: 13.1–31.7). In the remaining groups, seroprevalence ranged from 15.6% (IQR: 8–21.1) to 18.0% (IQR: 13.4–22.6). During monitoring, three (immune) response groups were found: (A) groups with a continuous increase in the proportion of seropositive; (B) those with a slow rate of increase in seroprevalence; and (C) those with a two-phase curve, wherein the initial increase was replaced by a decrease in the percentage of seropositive individuals. A significant correlation was revealed between the number of COVID-19 convalescents and contact persons, and between the number of contacts and healthy seropositive volunteers. Among the seropositive volunteers, more than 93.6% (IQR: 87.1–94.9) were asymptomatic. The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic is accompanied by an increase in seroprevalence, which may be important for the formation of herd immunity.

In the article, the authors propose the conceptual fundamentals of the “code approach” to the regional neo-industrial development. The purpose of the research is to reveal the essence of the transition to a new type of industrial and economic relations through a prism of “genetic codes” of the region. We consider these codes as a system of the “racial memory” of a territory, which determines the specificity and features of neo-industrialization realization. We substantiated the hypothesis about the influence of the “genetic codes” of the region on the effectiveness of the neo-industrialization. We have defined the participants, or else the carriers of the codes in the transformation of regional inheritance for the stimulation of the neoindustrial development of region’s economy. The subject matter of the research is the distinctive features of the functioning of the determinative region’s codes. Their content determines the socio-economic specificity of the region and the features of innovative, informational, value-based and competence-based development of the territory. The determinative codes generate the dynamic codes of the region, which are understood as their derivatives. They have a high probability of occurrence, higher speed of development and distribution, internal forces that make possible the self-development of the region. The scientific contribution is the substantiation of the basic code of the regional neo-industrial development. It represents the evolutionary accumulation of the rapid changes of its innovative, informational, value-based and competence-based codes stimulating the generation and implementation of new ideas regarding to economic entities adapted to the historical and cultural conditions. The article presents the code model of neo-industrial development of the region described by formulas. We applied the system analysis methods, historical and civilization approaches, evolutionary and institutional theory, economic and mathematical methods. Moreover, in the article, the authors presented the findings for the period 2011–2016 reflecting the empirical estimation of the importance of informational, institutional, innovative, value-based and competence-based codes. We made this estimation through the survey of population, representatives of business and authorities, students, as well as the professors of the leading universities of the Ural Federal District. The focus of the recommendations for the region is the acceleration of the transition to the new type of industrial development. The research results can be used when developing the programmes and projects of neo- and reindustrialization at both federal and regional levels.

His case was continued to his disciples. At the Faculty of "Roads and bridges" continues the school of scientific personnel.

The article substantiates the impact of the institutional factor on the development of regional international economic relations. The scope of the study is regional international economic activity (IEA), the subject-matter is the role of the institutional factor in its development. The study purpose is to develop a scientific approach for the assessment of the institutional factor impact on the development of region’s international economic relations. The hypothesis is that the targeted efforts of all participants of IEA of the region (business, authorities, local community) to strengthen of theese components of the institutional factor, which have a strong influence on the regional socio-economic development. A methodological approach for the assessment of this influenceis developed. It includes determining three elements of IEA institutionalization—agreements, organizations, events. A three-dimensional model is proposed for the coordination of these elements with 3 groups of countries—developed, developing and CIS, including the Eurasian Economic Union, and also with basic indexes characterizing the qualitative and quantitative contribution of region’s IEA into its socio-economic development. This model is tested on the example of the Sverdlovsk region of Russia for 2003–2015. That has allowed to define various kinds of the effects from strenthening the IEA institutional component, which are expressed in the increase of the export of the region, improvement of its investment attractiveness, the diversification of regional economy as well as the the generation of additional jobs and tax flows increase.

This article presents the findings of the study on the role of innovative entrepreneurship in the regional economy. The analysis is based on the methodology developed by Hermann Simon, a German scientist who has coined the term ”hidden champions” describing the phenomenon of little-known successful companies that act as innovative growth engines in the German economy. Today, the economies in different countries are developing amid the ”new normal,” in which no expected recovery followed the global crisis of 2008. This makes it necessary to rethink the role of entrepreneurship during a prolonged recession. The authors proposed and tested the hypothesis that, in this environment, the economic growth in the country and the region is increasingly determined not so much by large businesses, but by many small innovative companies. To identify Russian ”hidden champions,” we studied more than 1247 companies listed in the Innovation and Investment Market, a specialized section of the Moscow Exchange, and included in the specialized Register of Business Entities that use nanotechnology. We identified specifically Russian features of innovative entrepreneurship related to national cultural and historical characteristics and the current policy of import substitution. The authors proposed their own method for assessing the innovative entrepreneurship as a source of economic growth in the Russian regions that defines five groups of innovative entrepreneurs (global market leader, one of the global market leaders, Russian market leader, one of the Russian market leaders, not the leader in the Russian market) and compares them with large companies in terms of turnover and profit dynamics. Based on such criteria as ”number of ”hidden champions” and ”number of large enterprises per 100 thousand organizations,” we built a model for the ratio of ”hidden champions” to major companies in the Russian regions that identifies, for each criterion, three subgroups, including leaders, medium-tier and outsiders, which allowed to identify nine types of Russian regions and substantiate different development strategies for main types of regions. The study confirms that the most justified strategy for the development of innovative entrepreneurship in the region is the strategy of cooperation between different types of companies in order to overcome their weaknesses, enhance existing opportunities and activate the innovation and entrepreneurial capacity.

Цель. Статья посвящена актуальной в условиях современной образовательной парадигмы теме родительско-детских отношений. Автор ставит целью выявить взаимосвязи между особенностями семейного воспитания и спецификой межличностного взаимодействия дошкольников с интеллектуальной недостаточностью. Методы исследования (классификация Б.Г. Ананьева): психодиагностические (анкетирование, метод экспертных оценок, проективный метод, беседа), праксиметрические (анализ продуктов деятельности), методы обработки экспериментальных данных (количественный и качественный анализ), методы интерпретации данных (структурный анализ). Результаты. Результаты работы заключаются в том, что автор выявляет корреляцию между особенностями общения в системе «родители-ребенок» и характеристиками межличностного взаимодействия со сверстниками (стремление к взаимодействию со взрослыми и сверстниками, позиция в группе сверстников, предпочтения в выборе партнеров по общению, использование вербальных и невербальных средств общения). Автор делает предположение, что выявленные взаимосвязи можно использовать для повышения эффективности программы психокоррекционной работы, направленной на развитие межличностного взаимодействия со сверстниками дошкольников с интеллектуальной недостаточностью. Область применения результатов. Результаты исследования могут быть применены в сфере образования.

We present a case of a teenage boy with a Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome. There are only few recent publications on the topic of Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome in medical literature. This syndrome appears with a same frequency in both sexes. The disease prevalence is still unknown due to many undiagnosed cases linked with high mortality in early childhood. There are no prenatal screening for this disease till now, but it is clear, that in case of positive diagnostic tests, abortion should be recommended. The typical clinical symptoms of Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome are the following: physical development delay, loss of subcutaneous fat, teeth and nails abnormalities (premature teeth eruption, teeth number doubling, nails thickening). The earliest signs of the syndrome are skin hyperpigmentation and hyperkeratosis at neck, armpits and groin, which are typical for insulin resistance. Children with Rabson-Mendenhall syndrome usually have early manifestation of diabetes mellitus, characterized by labile disease course and frequent ketoacidosis state. The present clinical case might be interesting regarding a long follow-up of the child.
