Abstract In this paper, a titanium dioxide/covalent organic framework (TiO2/COF) composite was prepared and its photocatalytic removal of dye was investigated. Using tetrabutyl titanate as a titanium source, TiO2 nanomaterial was prepared by sol‐gel method. In the presence of TiO2, TiO2/COF core‐shell composite was prepared by solvothermal synthesis using melamine and 1,4‐phthalaldehyde as ligands. The prepared materials are characterized by SEM, TEM, XPS, XRD, TG, FTIR, BET, EPR, PL, and UV‐Vis‐DRS techniques. Using malachite green as a model of dye wastewater, the photocatalytic degradation performance of TiO2/COF composites was investigated under the irradiation of ultraviolet light. The results show that the modification of COF significantly improves the photocatalytic efficiency of TiO2, the degradation rate increases from 69.77 % to 93.64 %, and the reaction rate constant of the first‐order kinetic equation is increased from 0.0078 min−1 to 0.0192 min−1. Based on the free radical capture experiment, the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of TiO2/COF was discussed, and the feasibility of its photocatalytic degradation of malachite green was theoretically clarified. Accordingly, a simple and practical method for photocatalytic degradation of malachite green was constructed, which has potential application value in the degradation of dye wastewater.

Objectives The study aimed to investigate the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of contraceptive methods among women with an unplanned pregnancy, aiming to improve their reproductive health and increase their understanding of contraceptive methods.Design This is a cross-sectional study.Setting The study was conducted at the Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital of Hubei between 20 November 2022 and 20 January 2023.Participants Women with an unplanned pregnancy were included.Primary and secondary outcome measures The questionnaire was in the Chinese language and included demographic data, KAP assessments. Multivariate linear regression was performed to explore the factors associated with knowledge or practice scores.Results During the study period, 510 participants with valid questionnaires were included. The KAP scores were 7.30±2.91, 32.61±3.13 and 28.58±3.59, respectively. Place of residence (urban vs non-urban; B=0.66, 95% CI 0.02 to 1.29, p=0.043) and educational level (master’s degree or above vs post secondary or below; B=1.07, 95% CI 0.17 to 1.96, p=0.020) were positively associated with knowledge. Green sweat peppers are rich in nutrients and diverse in shape and color. Apart from being eaten as a vegetable, it is widely used as seasoning and side dishes. Due to respiration and infection by harmful microorganisms, postharvest green peppers are prone to water loss, wilting and even rot. Appropriate preservation technology can maximize the preservation of nutrients and extend the storage period of green peppers. This paper introduces the techniques used for postharvest preservation of green sweet peppers: physical preservation methods such as refrigeration and packaging, biological preservatives such as microbial, plant and animal extracts, and chemical preservatives such as calcium agents and 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP), and compares the advantages and disadvantages of these preservation techniques. It elaborates the effect of chitosan or konjac glucomannan-based composite coatings on preserving the quality of green sweet peppers. Our intention is to provide a reference and guidance for the storage and preservation of postharvest green peppers.

Abstract Background The CREST study showed that the addition of thoracic radiotherapy (TRT) could improve the survival rate in patients with extensive stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC), but whether TRT can bring survival benefit in the era of immunotherapy remains controversial. This study aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of adding TRT to the combination of PD-L1 inhibitors and chemotherapy. Methods The patients who received durvalumab or atezolizumab combined with chemotherapy as the first-line treatment of ES-SCLC from January 2019 to December 2021 were enrolled. They were divided into two groups, based on whether they received TRT or not. Propensity score matching (PSM) with a 1:1 ratio was performed. The primary endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) and safety. Results A total of 211 patients with ES-SCLC were enrolled, of whom 70 (33.2%) patients received standard therapy plus TRT as first-line treatment, and 141 (66.8%) patients in the control group received PD-L1 inhibitors plus chemotherapy. After PSM, a total of 57 pairs of patients were enrolled in the analysis. In all patients, the median PFS (mPFS) in the TRT and non-TRT group was 9.5 and 7.2 months, respectively, with HR = 0.59 (95%CI 0.39–0.88, p = 0.009). The median OS (mOS) in the TRT group was also significantly longer than that in the non-TRT group (24.1 months vs. 18.5 months, HR = 0.53, 95%CI 0.31–0.89, p = 0.016). Multivariable analysis showed that baseline liver metastasis and the number of metastases ≥ 3 were independent prognostic factors for OS. Addition of TRT increased the incidence of treatment-related pneumonia (p = 0.018), most of which were grade 1–2. Conclusions Addition of TRT to durvalumab or atezolizumab plus chemotherapy significantly improves survival in ES-SCLC. Although it may leads to increased incidence of treatment-related pneumonia, a majority of the cases can be relieved after symptomatic treatment.

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are porous crystals that have high designability and great potential in designing, encapsulating, and immobilizing nanozymes. COF nanozymes have also attracted extensive attention in analyte sensing and detection because of their abundant active sites, high enzyme-carrying capacity, and significantly improved stability. In this paper, we classify COF nanozymes into three types and review their characteristics and advantages. Then, the synthesis methods of these COF nanozymes are introduced, and their performances are compared in a list. Finally, the applications of COF nanozymes in environmental analysis, food analysis, medicine analysis, disease diagnosis, and treatment are reviewed. Furthermore, we also discuss the application prospects of COF nanozymes and the challenges they face.

Background Immune responses are important in the progression of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Natural killer T (NKT) cells are main components of the innate immune system that modulate immunity. However, the role of NKT cells in NAFLD remains controversial.Objective We aimed to investigate the role of NKT cells in non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)-related fibrosis in fast food diet (FFD)- and methionine choline-deficient (MCD) diet-induced mouse models.Methods Hepatic NKT cells were analysed in wild-type (WT) and CD1d-/- mice fed FFD or MCD diets. Hepatic pathology, cytokine profiles and liver fibrosis were evaluated. Furthermore, the effect of chronic administration of α-galactosylceramide (α-GalCer) on liver fibrosis was investigated in both FFD- and MCD-treated mice.Results FFD induced a significant depletion of hepatic NKT cells, thus leading to mild to moderate NASH and early-stage fibrosis, while mice fed MCD diets developed severe liver inflammation and progressive fibrosis without a significant change in hepatic NKT cell abundance. FFD induced a similar liver fibrogenic response in CD1d-/- and WT mice, while MCD induced a higher hepatic mRNA expression of Col1α1 and TIMP1 as well as relative fibrosis density in CD1d-/- mice than WT mice (31.8 vs. 16.3, p = .039; 40.0 vs. 22.6, p = .019; 2.24 vs. 1.59, p = .036). Chronic administration of α-GalCer induced a higher hepatic mRNA expression of TIMP1 in MCD-treated mice than controls (36.7 vs. 14.9, p = .005).Conclusion NKT cells have protective roles in NAFLD as the disease progresses. During diet-induced steatosis, mild to moderate NASH and the early stage of fibrosis, hepatic NKT cells are relatively depleted, leading to a proinflammatory status. In severe NASH and the advanced stage of liver fibrosis, NKT cells play a role in inhibiting the NASH-related fibrogenic response. Chronic administration of α-GalCer induces NKT cell anergy and tolerance, which may play a role in promoting the liver fibrogenic response.

In this paper, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are prepared by solvothermal synthesis using 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxaldehyde and benzidine as ligands. Then, using COFs as a template, AgCOFs with high catalytic activity is prepared by in situ loading silver nanoparticles (AgNC) on the surface of COFs by sodium borohydride reduction method. AgCOFs are characterized by TEM, SEM, FTIR and XRD. At the same time, the catalytic ability of AgCOFs for trisodium citrate-AgNO3 nanosilver reaction is studied. The results show that AgCOFs can catalyze the reaction of trisodium citrate-AgNO3 to generate silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The solution color of the system gradually changes from colorless to yellow, and the absorbance value increases. Based on the catalytic reaction of AgCOFs and the regulation effect of nucleic acid aptamer reaction on AgCOFs, a new “on–off–on” colorimetric analysis platform is constructed and applied to the detection of trace Pb2+ in water samples. This analytical platform is simple, sensitive and selective. Finally, the catalytic mechanism of the system is discussed to verify the feasibility of constructing a colorimetric analysis platform.

Objective: The pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has become a major public health challenge around the world, and outbreaks of the SARS-CoV-2 have constituted a public health emergency of international concern. Infection control measures are necessary to prevent further spread of the virus and to help control the epidemic situation. Due to the characteristics of gynecological settings, the risk of cross infection between patients and gynecologic practitioners can be high, strict and effective infection control protocols are urgently needed. This article, based on our experience and relevant guidelines and research, introduces prevention and control measures for use in gynecological outpatient clinics and provides recommended management for gynecologists in (potentially) affected areas.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a commonly poisonous gas. It is important to detect CO in daily life. Herein, a new and sensitive surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) coupled di-mode method was developed for CO, based on gold nano-enzyme catalysis and gold nanoprobes. CO can react with HAuCl4 to generate gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) in pH 5.2 HAc-NaAc buffer. The generated AuNPs exhibited SERS activity at 1620 cm-1 in the presence of Vitoria blue B (VBB) molecular probes, and an RRS peak at 290 nm. Based on the AuNP bifunctional probes, the increased SERS and RRS intensities respond linearly with the concentration of CO in the range of 100−1500 ng/mL and 30−5230 ng/mL, respectively. To improve the sensitivity, the produced AuNPs were used as nano-enzyme catalysts for the new indicator reaction of HAuCl4-ethanol (En) to amplify the signal. The sensitive SERS method was coupled with the accurate RRS method to develop a sensitive and accurate SERS/RRS di-mode method for determination of 3.0−413 ng/mL CO, based on the AuNP-HAuCl4-En nanocatalytic reaction and its product of AuNPs as SERS and RRS bifunctional probes.
