The structure, microstructure, coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), and mechanical properties of Na1+2xZr2−xCox(PO4)3 ceramics (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, 0.5) were studied. Na1+2xZr2−xCox(PO4)3 submicron powders with the NaZr2(PO4)3 structure (NZP, kosnarite type) were obtained by the solid-phase method. The starting reagents (NaNO3, ZrOCl2·8H2O, NH4H2PO4, CoCl2·6H2O, ethanol) were mixed with the addition of ethyl alcohol. The resulting mixtures were annealed at 600 °C (20 h) and 700 °C (20 h). The obtained phosphates crystallized in the expected structure of the NaZr2(PO4)3 type (trigonal system, space group R3¯c). Thermal expansion of the powders was studied with high-temperature X-ray diffraction at temperatures ranging from 25 to 700 °C. CTEs were calculated, and their dependence on the cobalt content was analyzed. Na1+2xZr2−xCox(PO4)3 ceramics with high relative density (93.67–99.70%) were obtained by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS). Ceramics poor in cobalt (x = 0.1) were found to have a high relative density (98.87%) and a uniform fine-grained microstructure with a grain size of 0.5–1 µm. Bigger cobalt content leads to a smaller relative density of ceramics. During the sintering of ceramics with high cobalt content, anomalous grain growth was observed. The powder compaction rate was shown to be determined by creep and diffusion intensity in the Na1+2xZr2−xCox(PO4)3 crystal lattice. SPS activation energy in ceramics increased as the cobalt content grew. The microhardness and fracture toughness of ceramics did not depend on their cobalt content.

This paper introduces the results of hydrolytic stability tests and radiation resistance tests of phosphate molybdates and phosphate tungstates Na1−xZr2(PO4)3−x(XO4)x, X = Mo, W (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5). The ceramics characterized by relatively high density (more than 97.5%) were produced by spark plasma sintering (SPS) of submicron powders obtained by sol–gel synthesis. The study focused on hydrolytic resistance of the ceramics in static mode at room temperature. After 28 days of testing in distilled water, the normalized leaching rate was determined. It was found that the ceramics demonstrated high hydrolytic resistance in static mode: the normalized leaching rates for Mo- and W-containing ceramics were 31·10−6 and 3.36·10−6 g·cm−2·day−1, respectively. The ceramics demonstrated high resistance to irradiation with 167 MeV Xe+26 multiple-charged ions at fluences ranging from 1·1012 to 6·1013 cm−2. The Mo-containing Na0.5Zr2(PO4)2.5(XO4)0.5 ceramics were shown to have higher radiation resistance than phosphate tungstates. Radiation was shown to trigger an increase in leaching rates for W and Mo in the crystal structure of NZP ceramics.

Submicron-grade powders of Na1-xZr2(PO4)3-x(XO4)x compounds (hereafter referred to as NZP) and Ca1-xZr2(PO4)3-x(XO4)x compounds (hereafter, CZP), X = Mo, W (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) were obtained by sol-gel synthesis. The compounds obtained were studied by X-ray diffraction phase analysis and electron microscopy. An increase in the W or Mo contents was shown to result in an increase in the unit cell volume of the NZP and CZP crystal lattices and in a decrease in the coherent scattering region sizes. Thermal expansion behavior at high temperatures of synthesized NZP and CZP compounds has been investigated. The dependencies of the parameters a and c on the heating temperature, as well as the temperature dependence of the crystal lattice unit cell volume V in the range from the room temperature up to 800 °C, were obtained. The dependencies of the average thermal expansion coefficient (αav) and of the volume coefficient (β) on the W and Mo contents in the compositions of NZP and CZP compounds were studied. Ceramics Na1-xZr2(PO4)3-x(XO4)x with relatively high density (more than 97.5%) were produced by spark plasma sintering (SPS). The increase in the W or Mo contents in the ceramics leads to an increase in the relative density of NZP and to a decrease of the optimum sintering temperature. The mean grain size in the NZP ceramics decreases with increasing W or Mo contents. The study of strength characteristics has revealed that the hardness of the NZP ceramics is greater than 5 GPa, and that the minimum fracture toughness factor was 1 MPa·m1/2.

In this article, we present cutting-edge machine learning-based techniques for the detection and reconstruction of meteors and space debris in the Mini-EUSO experiment, a detector installed on board of the International Space Station, and pointing toward the Earth. We base our approach on a recent technique, the STACKing method plus Convolutional Neural Network (STACK-CNN), originally developed as an online trigger in an orbiting remediation system to detect space debris. Our proposed method, the refined-STACKing method plus convolutional neural network (R-Stack-CNN), makes the STACKing method plus convolutional neural network (STACK-CNN) more robust, thanks to a random forest that learns the temporal development of these events in the camera. We prove the flexibility of our method by showing that it is sensitive to any space object that moves linearly in the field of view. First, we search small space debris, never observed by Mini-EUSO. Due to the limiting statistics, also in this case, no debris were found. However, since meteors produce signals similar to space debris but they are much more frequent, the R-Stack-CNN is adapted to identify such events while avoiding the numerous false positives of the Stack-CNN. Results from real data show that the R-Stack-CNN is able to find more meteors than a classical thresholding method and a new method of two neural networks. We also show that the method is also able to accurately reconstruct speed and direction of meteors with simulated data.

Purpose. The work is devoted to the development of mathematical models and methods of fuzzy modeling of multidimensional time series (CDM) for the processes of monitoring and rehabilitation of patients with uneven intervals between observations. CDM takes into account the system properties and unity of the components of the studied processes by forming combined/complex multidimensional fuzzy models (CFTS). Methodology. The implementation of CFTS models takes into account the intrinsic features of these processes. The peculiarity of CFTS is that uneven intervals of observations, as well as other parameters, reflect the systemic unity of the controlled process, rather than the externally established form of observations, regulations. SFTS generalize models of multidimensional fuzzy time series of order n with m input parameters and one output parameter, i.e., different components may have different order of prehistory n, individual parameters may be measured by different types of data and forms of uncertainty. Findings. The article presents a comprehensive improved structure of CFTS models of order n with m input and one output parameter, which is adapted to the properties of monitoring and rehabilitation processes with uneven observation intervals. To form the SFTS, a step-by-step procedure is proposed that allows forming the composition of parameters. An example of modeling the process of rehabilitation of patients with diabetes based on the SFTS is presented, which demonstrates its differences and effectiveness. The comparative properties of SFTS and FTS models are presented. Originality. The development of CDM models and methods for monitoring and rehabilitation processes at uneven intervals is obtained, and complex SFTS models are formed. The difference between the SFTS is that the component of uneven intervals is represented as other multiparameters m, which can have different order of prehistory n, as well as different types of data and forms of uncertainty. A procedure for the step-by-step formation of the composition of the parameters of SFTS models is proposed. Practical value. SFTS models ensure the implementation of multiparameter monitoring and rehabilitation processes with uneven observation intervals, simplify the structure and reduce the number of relational relations, and eliminate the conflict of product rules in case of ensuring the required accuracy of results. The example of modeling the rehabilitation process for diabetics with such parameters as sugar level, interval between observations, and blood pressure has confirmed the reliability and practical significance of CFTS models.

The requirements for the quality of steel products dictate the need to increase the share of evacuated steel. In addition, the growing cost of fuel, as well as the desire of society and the state to decarbonize various industries, including ferrous metallurgy, requires companies to reduce fuel costs and switch to more modern and cleaner technologies. Reducing the specific fuel consumption, and, accordingly, emissions, is possible due to the transition to continuous production, minimizing the cost of heating the equipment and maintaining the set temperature in the degasser during technological downtime. The article deals with the issues of steel melt degassing in U-type continuous degassers in continuous steel making units. Aim. To consider the influence of rarefaction of a gas bubble on the characteristic size over the melt, speed and time of its surfacing in a U-type degassing unit. Based on the obtained dependences, to determine the characteristic size of a vacuum chamber and energy effect of switching to a continuous vacuumization. Methods.. Results. The authors have determined a bubble characteristic size in a steel melt under vacuum of different degrees. They studied the effect of vacuum on vacuumization speed and the degassing unit dimensions. The energy effect of switching to continuous vacuumization was determined. The proposed methodology is valid for liquid media, the calculations are presented on the example of molten steel. Based on the conducted calculations, the depression influence on molten steel vacuumization was determined. The vacuum chamber dimensions, comparable with RH-vacuum cleaners presented at the market of similar productivity and quality of finished products, as well as reducing energy consumption for steel degassing in a continuous vacuum degasser, compared with the existing circulating installation, were determined.

BackgroundDespite numerous advantages of the Ross procedure, it presents a risk of late autograft and right ventricular outflow tract conduit failure. This study aimed to analyze the outcomes of autograft dysfunction reoperations using autograft-sparing and root replacement techniques.MethodsBetween 2015 and 2023, 49 patients underwent redo root surgery in our institution. Autograft valve-sparing procedures (VSP) were performed in 20 cases and the Bentall procedure (BP) in 29 patients. The short and long-term clinical outcomes along with echocardiographic results of VSP and BP were investigated.ResultsOverall early mortality rate was 2.0% with no significant difference between the groups. Severe autograft valve insufficiency at the time of redo (OR 4.07, P = 0.03) and patient age (OR 1.07, P = 0.04) were associated with a valve replacement procedure instead of VSP. The median follow-up duration was 34 months. No late deaths occurred in either group. Freedom from VSP failure and aortic prosthesis dysfunction were 93.8% and 94.1% in the VSP and BP groups, respectively. No reoperations were necessary in either group.ConclusionRedo aortic root surgery can be safely performed in patients with autograft failure. Both root replacement and autograft valve-sparing procedures demonstrated acceptable results at mid-term follow-up. Early redo surgery pre-empting severe aortic insufficiency increases the likelihood of preservation of the dilated autograft valve.

Like nanotechnology, translational science is a relatively new and transdisciplinary field. Translational science in occupational safety and health (OSH) focuses on the process of taking scientific knowledge for the protection of workers from the lab to the field (i.e., the worksite/workplace) and back again. Translational science has been conceptualized as having multiple phases of research along a continuum, beyond scientific discovery (T0), to efficacy (T1), to effectiveness (T2), to dissemination and implementation (D&I) (T3), to outcomes and effectiveness research in populations (T4). The translational research process applied to occupational exposure to nanomaterials might involve similar phases. This builds on basic and efficacy research (T0 and T1) in the areas of toxicology, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, medicine and engineering. In T2, research and evidence syntheses and guidance and recommendations to protect workers may be developed and assessed for effectiveness. In T3, emphasis is needed on D&I research to explore the multilevel barriers and facilitators to nanotechnology risk control information/research adoption, use, and sustainment in workplaces. D&I research for nanomaterial exposures should focus on assessing sources of information and evidence to be disseminated /implemented in complex and dynamic workplaces, how policy-makers and employers use this information in diverse contexts to protect workers, how stakeholders inform these critical processes, and what barriers impede and facilitate multilevel decision-making for the protection of nanotechnology workers. The T4 phase focuses on how effective efforts to prevent occupational exposure to nanomaterials along the research continuum contribute to large-scale impact in terms of worker safety, health and wellbeing (T4). Stakeholder input and engagement is critical to all stages of the translational research process. This paper will provide: (1) an illustration of the translational research continuum for occupational exposure to nanomaterials; and (2) a discussion of opportunities for applying D&I science to increase the effectiveness, uptake, integration, sustainability, and impact of interventions to protect the health and wellbeing of workers in the nanotechnology field.

Factor V, encoded by the F5 gene, is a procoagulant blood clotting factor that increases the production of thrombin, the central enzyme that converts fibrinogen to fibrin, which leads to the formation of a blood clot. The F5 gene is localized to 1q24.2 chromosome and consists of 25 exons. There are various mutations in the F5 gene that lead to resistance of activated protein C (APC) (elimination of the APС cleavage site in factor V and factor Va), which can lead to arterial and venous thrombosis. The aim of the present study was to analyze variants of the F5 gene in patients diagnosed with coronary atherosclerosis without acute coronary syndrome with stable functional class II–IV angina pectoris, confirmed by coronary angiography data, using the method of whole exome sequencing. Material and methods. The study was conducted in the framework of the Program of joint research work IIPM — branch of the ICG SB RAS and the FSBI «Research Institute of Circulation Pathology named after E.N. Meshalkin» Ministry of Health of Russian Federation. The study included 30 men aged 40–70 years with coronary angiography-­verified coronary atherosclerosis, without ACS, with stable angina pectoris of the II–IV FC. Patients were admitted for coronary bypass surgery, and endarteriaectomy from the coronary artery (s) was performed during the operation according to intraoperative indications. Whole exome sequencing (SureSelectXT Human All Exon v.6+UTR) was carried out on an Illumina NextSeq 500 instrument (USA). Results. In 30 patients, 29 single-­nucleotide variants were found in the F5 gene. In patients with coronary atherosclerosis, rs9332701 of the F5 gene is 3.33 times more common, and rs6027 is 1.67 times more common than in the population. And rs184663825 was found in 3.33% of cases, while its occurrence in the population is 0.05%. For variants rs6034 and rs144979314, a possible damaging effect on the protein product is shown. Conclusion. The single-­nucleotide variants rs9332701, rs6027, rs184663825, rs6034, rs144979314 of the F5 gene are of interest for inclusion in the genetic panels for the analysis of risk factors for the development of acute coronary syndrome.

Classifications of methods for analyzing the structure of painting canvas, and fabrics in the textile industry are constructed within the framework of the ontology for the subject area of attribution and restoration of paintings. The limited variety of practically applied methods in painting by x-ray analysis, and the perspective of the method of analyzing the texture of the canvas in reflected rays under directed lighting are noted.

The article represents a description of the individual features of the arterial network of the elbow joint and comparing results of the investigation with data of Russian and foreign anatomical schools of the USA, Canada, India and Great Britain. The investigation of the arterial network of the elbow joint of two male and two female dead bodies was implemented on the basis of the Anatomy Table. The screenshots was taken after extracting the arteries of this area. The graphic figures allowed to identify individual features of the arterial network of the elbow joint.

Research subject. The Mississippi Valley type deposits make up about a third of the global balance of lead and zinc reserves, resources and production. Additionally, silver, antimony, arsenic, barium, bismuth, cadmium, cobalt, gallium, indium, mercury, molybdenum, nickel and thallium can be present in the ores of these deposits. In the North-East of Russia, the Mississippi Valley type of deposits is poorly represented. In this work, we investigate the deposits of the Sardana ore cluster of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and individual deposits of the Magadan region. Materials and methods. The article discusses the results of previous scientific research and new data on the geochemical features, isotopic composition of ores and geological and structural conditions for the formation of the Sardana cluster deposit. In addition, the potential for identifying stratiform lead-zinc deposits is associated with favourable geodynamic conditions in the region, as well as with the refinement and adaptation of the forecast-search model of MVT deposits for the North-East of Russia. Results. The mineralogical and geochemical features of the rocks and ores of the Sardana cluster deposits, the morphology of ore bodies, their zoning elements, as well as isotopic ratios indicate that the ores are likely to be of the Mississippi Valley type with the onset of ore deposition at early diagenetic and catagenetic stages. The distribution of rare elements indicates a significant role of superimposed metamorphism of the host carbonate-terrigenous strata in the deposition of the ores of producing stages. Conclusion. The potential possibility of increasing the mineral and raw material base of lead and zinc is associated with the identification of sedimentary basins with a stagnant anoxic regime of carbonate accumulation in the immediate vicinity of the development areas of rift complexes, as well as with the presence of other critically important forecast-search signs. In addition to the well-known Killakh metallogenic zone, Tuora-Sis and Orulgan metallogenic taxa located in the north of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) with known stratiform manifestations of lead and zinc belong to such areas.

The article is devoted to the problems of sports development as one of the key means of popularizing a healthy lifestyle among the population in the context of sustainable development. General scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization) and specific scientific methods (sociological and historical) were used during the research. The article presents the results of a survey of people who live in Yekaterinburg and are over the age of 18 (N=118, 2023) regarding sports and a healthy lifestyle. Special attention is paid to sports and its impact on national identity and economic development of the state. The role of the state in the development of sports and physical culture is also analyzed. The problems that negatively affect the development of sports and, as a result, its use as a means of spreading a healthy lifestyle are highlighted. It is concluded that the solution of the accumulated problems in the field of sports is possible only thanks to the joint efforts of the state, business community and population.

Modification of bitumen with polymers is an effective way to improve its properties. Despite the sufficiently widespread use of this method, currently there are practically no appropriate methods of this process calculation. Moreover, there are almost no the models to determine the size of formed polymer particles in modified bitumen of non-traditional polymer modifiers. The paper gives a mathematical description of the secondary polyethylene terephthalate particles formation in bitumen during the process of its modification. In terms of the stochastic approach, we obtained the analytical expressions for the differential distribution function of polymer particles in size, as well as the average size, surface, and volume. According to the research, increasing the rotation speed of the stirring mechanism leads to a decrease of the average particle size of the polymer. We use free software wxMaxima to perform the calculations.

Aim. To assess the long-term outcomes of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and their association with calcification biomarkers.Material and methods. The study included 129 men (mean age, 61,5±7,5 years) with coronary atherosclerosis who were admitted for CABG surgery. Patients were divided into 2 groups: with favorable and unfavorable (death, myocardial infarction, stroke, surgery) 5-year prognosis after surgery. Before the surgery, the blood concentrations of calcification biomarkers (osteoprotegerin, osteopontin, osteonectin and osteocalcin) were determined in all patients.Results. Long-term outcomes of myocardial revascularization were studied in 92 patients (71%). An unfavorable long-term 5-year period was identified in 28 men (30,4%). In men with an unfavorable 5-year prognosis, the blood osteocalcin level before CABG was 1,2 times higher than in men with a favorable one. Multivariate linear regression showed that the risk of a 5-year unfavorable prognosis for coronary atherosclerosis after myocardial revascularization was associated with the blood osteocalcin concentration, determined before CABG (B=0,018, R2=0,285, p=0,008).Conclusion. The data obtained indicate the relevance of continuing studies on osteocalcin, including with respect to its contribution to coronary atherosclerosis and calcification.

Abstract Objective The study was dedicated to investigation of some hemostasis and endothelial dysfunction factors association with probability of presence of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques in coronary arteries in men with atherosclerosis. Results The blood levels of factor VII, factor XII and MCP-1 were higher, and concentration of sVCAM-1 lower in men with vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries, compared to men who had stable plaques. Have been revealed correlation links between the blood levels of factor II, factor XII, MCP-1 and the presence of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries. Results of logistic regression analysis showed that the relative risk of present of vulnerable atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries is associated with an elevated blood level of factor XII and MCP-1.

Aim. To study factors of endothelial dysfunction in order to find their associations with coagulation factors, inflammatory markers and unstable atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries in men with coronary atherosclerosis.Material and methods. The study included men with coronary atherosclerosis without acute coronary syndrome. We assessed blood concentrations of endothelial dysfunction factors (endothelin 1, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), adhesion molecules sVCAM-1, asymmetric dimethylarginine, homocysteine, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1) blood coagulation (factor II, factor VII, factor XII, antithrombin III), biomarkers of inflammation (tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukins (IL-1-beta, IL-6, IL-8), C-reactive protein).Results. In this paper, an algorithm for automated detecting diagnostic events in video channel of video and electroencephalographic (EEG) monitoring data is presented. The analysis of video sequences is focused on identifying a group of frames with high or very low (depending on the type of seizure) dynamics of informative areas according to a criterion calculated during processing of the optical flow. The preliminary results of the analysis of real clinical data are given and compared with data obtained from the synchronous EEG. The results showed the possibility in principle of reliable diagnosing epileptic seizures and distinguishing them from non-epileptic events.

The article looks at a clinical case of a 31-year-old female with signs of paroxysmal ventricular tachycardia and Morgagni–Adams–Stokes syndrome. In April 2014, electrophysiological examination revealed a source of ventricular tachycardia localized in the apices of the right and left ventricles of the patient. The sources were then subjected to RF ablation followed by cardioverter-defibrillator implantation. Subsequent antiarrhythmic therapy failed to improve her state. In September 2016 the patient was re-examined and underwent RF ablation of the apical region of the right ventricle. Later on, taking into account continuously recurrent life-threatening cardiac rhythm disorders, as well as unpromising strategies for further conservative treatment, she was put on the waiting list and then underwent orthotopic cardiac transplantation. Histological examination and immunohistochemistry assay showed leiomyosarcoma in the source of ventricular tachycardia previously found in the apex of the right ventricle. This clinical case demonstrates a diversity of clinical manifestations of primary malignant tumors of the heart that pose a challenge for intravital diagnostics and interpretation of a clinical picture.

According to the legislation on transport security a number of vehicles must be equipped with on-Board control devices containing a cryptographic means of authentication, registration and storage of control data, including key information of the electronic signature.This paper presents a solution to the problem of justification of the adequacy of measures to counter known attacks and methods of discrediting the suggested cryptographic mechanisms and the corresponding protocol drawn up in the form of a draft national standard and presented in the previous work of the authors devoted to study of its security properties. The solution presented is limited to the consideration of attacks subdivided into two classes: passive and active attacks, including temporary attacks based on the study of the response time of one or more participants of the protocol.The analysis of the security threat model of the Protocol generating a common key with the authentication of subscribers intended for use in tachographs installed on vehicles shows that the protocol provides sufficient measures to counter known attacks. The found possible attacks are of a formal nature, not allowing the offender to obtain any additional information in order to discredit the protocol.

Aim. To study the associations of polymorphisms in F2, F7, and PAI1 genes with the presence of vulnerable plaque in coronary arteries (CA) and the blood concentration of proteins encoded by these genes.Material and methods. The study included 101 men 40-70 years old with documented coronary atherosclerosis, who underwent coronary artery bypass grafting. According to the histological analysis of atherosclerotic plaques, men were divided into 2 groups: 40 men (39,6%) with stable plaque; 61 men (60,4%) with vulnerable plaques in CA. Genotyping of rs1799963 and rs6046 was performed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction, rs1799889 — by polymerase chain reaction. Statistical processing was performed using the SPSS 16.0 software package.Results. In patients with stable plaques, allele A of rs6046 polymorphism in the F7 gene was observed in 2,9 times more often (95% confidence interval (CI), 1,20-7,20, p=0,021) than in men with vulnerable plaques. The odds ratio of the GA genotype carriage is 4,03 times higher among patients with stable plaques in CA compared with vulnerable plaques (95% CI, 1,49-10,93, p=0,006). The odds ratio of the 5G/4G genotype carriage among patients with stable plaques in CA is 2,47 times higher than in patients with vulnerable plaques (95% CI, 1,08-5,62, p=0,039). The 4G/4G genotype carriage is 5,85 times much more common in men with stable plaques (95% CI, 1,61-21,34, p=0,003).Conclusion. Polymorphism in the PAI1 (rs1799889) and F7 (rs6046) genes are associated with the presence of vulnerable plaques in CA in men with verified coronary atherosclerosis. There were no differences between the groups in the frequencies of genotypes and alleles of the rs1799963 polymorphism of the F2 gene. Also, no significant differences were found in the blood levels of PAI-1 and factor VII in groups with different genotypes.

Aim. To analyze differential expression of metalloproteases genes, involved into the processes of stabilization/destabilization of atherosclerotic plaque, with the method of full genome sequencing of RNA, and to evaluate the level of metalloproteases in homogenates of plaques of various types by immune enzyme assay method (IEA).Material and methods. The study has been conducted on the specimens of atherosclerotic plaques of patients aged 45-65 y.o., inhabitants of Western Siberia with angiographically proven coronary atherosclerosis and no acute coronary syndrome, with stable angina II-IV functional class. Specimens collection from the plaques was done during an operation if there were intraoperational indications. Histology performed. In intima/media homogenates by IEA method, with BCM Diagnostics assays the levels of destructive markers were measured: MMP-1, MMP3, MMP-7, MMP-9, TIMP-1 on the Multiscan EX (Thermo Fisher Scientific, USA). Libraries preparation for full genomic sequencing of RNA was done with Illumina’s TruSeq RNA Sample Preparation Kit (Illumina, USA). Objective. This study was devoted to examinationof some factors of blood coagulation (factor II, factor VII, factor XII, antithrombin III) in order to find their associations with biomarkers of endothelial dysfunction (endothelin 1, monocyticchemoattractant protein type 1, MCP-1, lipoprotein (a), LP (a), adhesive molecules sVCAM-1, asymmetric dimethylarginin, ADMA, homocysteine), inflammation (interleukins, IL-6, IL - 8, C-reactive protein, CRP) and with unstable atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries in men with coronary atherosclerosis.Material and methods. In 93 men with coronary atherosclerosis without acute coronary syndrome, blood coagulation factors concentrations (factor II, factor VII, factor XII, antithrombin III) were studied in the blood with goal to find their associations with biomarkers of endothelial dysfunction (endothelin 1, MCP-1, LP(a), adhesion molecules sVCAM-1, ADMA, homocysteine), of inflammation (IL-6, IL-8, CRP) and with the presence of unstable plaques in the coronary arteries.Results. In men with unstable atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries, the blood levels of factor VII and factor XII were 1.3 and 1.3 times higher, respectively, compared to men who had stable plaques in the coronary arteries. Object. The article describes a new geological and geochemical data for Permian host rocks and copper sandstones (CS) in Orenburg’s Pre-Urals. Methods . X-ray fluorescence, atomic absorption for Au and Ag, and ICP-MS analysis were used during investigations. Results. The cupriferous sandstones are enriched in a quite broad range of microelements: Cu, Ag, Au, Cd, Сr, Ni, Mn, Co, V, U, Sc, and Pb, compared to the average values of the upper crust. The Co/Ni ratio in the CS is very low, which is typical of low-thermal fluids of meteoric origin. The CS are characterized by a REE spectrum without Eu-minima and maxima, which is close to the chondrite spectrum. Like in the host rocks, the “cerium” group of REE dominates in the CS over the “yttrium” and “scandium” groups. The spectra of REE of the CS and the host rocks have definitely similar morphology. The δCe and δEu combination indicates that CS was formed under oxidizing conditions. On geological and genetic characteristics and geochemical indicators installed the similarity of the CS in the southern Pre-Urals deposits and the Manto-type Cu-Ag deposits of Chile and Iran, and also with the CS of Iran and Cu-shales of Kupferschiefer. Conclusion. Proposed geological-genetic model of CS, points to possible high rise development of the Cu-Ag mineralization at depth as in the fields of the Manto-type copper deposits in Chile and Iran. Geochemical data show that accommodating the Permian strata could serve as a source of REE and other trace elements for ore-forming fluids. Perm CS of Pre Urals can be considered as a very promising new (“old”) source of raw materials for the development of the copper industry of the region. The obtained results can be used to predict new ore fields in the Eastern Russia region.

The paper describes cryptographic transformation for mutual authentication and creation of the fiscal sign key. This transformation based on using block encryption cipher named «Kuznetchik», described in the national standard of the Russian Federation GOST R 34.12-2015 and realized in gamma generation mode as it is described in the another national standard of the Russian Federation GOST R 34.13-2015. The function of the integrity protection (authentication code) is defined by the recommendation for standardization R 50.1.113–2016. The solution proposed in this paper is aimed for an authentication and integrity control of fiscal data transmitted through communication channels between fiscal storage devices and fiscal data operators, as well as between the fiscal data operators and the authorized agency. Formats of transmitted fiscal data, methods of transmission and mechanisms to ensure the confidentiality of transmitted fiscal data determined by the authorized agency of the Federal Executive power. The article gives a short description of the protocol model, a formal analysis of passive attacks in the assumption that the cryptographic properties of the protocol depends on the feature of cryptographic transformations used, which are standardized solutions regulated by national standards, or national recommendations for standardization. Since the cryptographic transformations could not be compromised by the intruder we can conclude that the intruder also can not compromise the fiscal signs protection protocol.

Current computer operating systems architectures are not well suited for the coming world of connected objects, known as the Internet of Things (IoT) for multiple reasons: poor communication performances in both point-to-point and broadcast cases, poor operational reliability and network security, excessive requirements both in terms of processor power and memory size leading to excessive electrical power consumption. We introduce a new computer operating system architecture well adapted to IoT, from the most modest to the most complex, and more generally able to significantly raise the input/output capacities of any communicating computer. This architecture rests on the principles of the Von Neumann hardware model, and is composed of two types of asymmetric distributed containers, which communicate by message passing. We describe the sub-systems of both of these types of containers, where each sub-system has its own scheduler, and a dedicated execution level.

Thermal stability of composite bimetallic wires from five novel microalloyed aluminum alloys with different contents of alloying elements (Zr, Sc, and Hf) is investigated. The alloy workpieces were obtained by induction-casting in a vacuum, preliminary severe plastic deformation, and annealing providing the formation of a uniform microstructure and the nucleation of stabilizing intermetallide Al3(Zr,Sc,Hf) nanoparticles. The wires of 0.26 mm in diameter were obtained by simultaneous deformation of the Al alloy with Cu shell. The bimetallic wires demonstrated high strength and improved thermal stability. After annealing at 450–500 °C, a uniform fine-grained microstructure formed in the wire (the mean grain sizes in the annealed Al wires are 3–5 μm). An increased hardness and strength due to nucleation of the Al3(Sc,Hf) particles was observed. A diffusion of Cu from the shell into the surface layers of the Al wire was observed when heating up to 400–450 °C. The Cu diffusion depth into the annealed Al wire surfaces reached 30–40 μm. The maximum elongation to failure of the wires (20–30%) was achieved after annealing at 350 °C. The maximum values of microhardness (Hv = 500–520 MPa) and of ultimate strength (σb = 195–235 MPa) after annealing at 500 °C were observed for the wires made from the Al alloys alloyed with 0.05–0.1% Sc.

We present a public key generation protocol. The key is used for subscriber authentication in tachographs installed on vehicles in order to provide traffic safety. The protocol is based on the well-known Russian cryptographic algorithms. It ensures integrity and authenticity of data transmitted through communication channel between the on-board devices and vehicle tachograph cards. The protocol was developed in accordance with the Rosstandart recommendations and complies with the development and modernization principles for data protection encryption (cryptographic) means. The protocol was suggested as a national standard draft and is open for public discussion in accordance with the established procedure. The main results of our study is the formulation of certain security tasks identical to those used by potential infringers to compromise the protocol. This allows one to account for structural features that will ensure further protocol compliance to the target security characteristics, as well as to guarantee subsequent justification of feature set sufficiency.

After a brief historical reminder on SCADA systems, we will present the new challenges regarding modern building technical management (BTM) systems. We identify the technological evolutions, which allow us to address these new issues, and describe the software and hardware architectures of our Building Management Internet of Things (BMIoT) solution. We end by comparing with other older solutions and by a short description of the new business models, our solution allows.

Aim. To assess some of biochemical markers of bone tissue metabolism, in vessel wall in males with coronary atherosclerosis; to evaluate the influence of these markers on vulnerability of atherosclerotic lesion and to figure out the specifics of their spread among unstable plaques of various kinds.Material and methods. Totally, 65 males included at the age 46-79 y. o., admitted to the Clinics of E. N. Meshalkin Novosibirsk Scientific-Research Institute of Circulation Pathology for coronary bypass surgery. During operation, an endarterectomy was performed of coronary arteries. Each specimen of endarterectomy was symmetrically divided to fragments for histological and biochemical studies. By the results of histological analysis, in 193 specimens we found: 19 fragments of intact intima, 102 stable, 72 unstable plaques. Then the types of unstable plaques were established: 1) lipids’; 2) inflammatory-erosive; 3) distrophic-necrotic. In homogenates of the fragments we assessed: osteoprotegerin, calcitonin, osteocalcin, cholesterol. Statistics was done with SPSS (13.0).Results. By the results of the performed histology, in unstable plaques there was higher level of calcification comparing to stable plaques. Biochemical studies showed increased levels of calcitonin and osteocalcin. If to assess the diverse types of unstable plaques, the highest level of these parameters was found in distrophic-necrotic plaques; lowest amount of calcitonin and osteocalcin was found in inflammatory-erosive type. Background: This study aimed to evaluate changes in markers of calcification and of endothelial dysfunction during the development of calcification and instability of atherosclerotic plaques and to identify associations of calcification factors with the formation of unstable plaques. Methods: We analyzed 44 male patients with coronary atherosclerosis who underwent endarterectomy in coronary arteries during coronary bypass surgery. The endarterectomy material (intima/media) was examined using histological and biochemical methods, and the stability and calcification degree of atherosclerotic plaques were assessed. In homogenates of the tissue samples and in blood, concentrations of osteoprotegerin, osteocalcin, osteopontin, osteonectin, monocyte-chemoattractant protein type 1 (MCP-1), soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (sVCAM-1), and E-selectin were determined by enzyme immunoassays. Results: Unstable atherosclerotic plaques proved to be calcified more frequently (80.4% of plaques) than stable ones (45.0%). Osteonectin, E-selectin, and sVCAM-1 levels were lower in unstable plaques and plaques with large calcification deposits. Osteocalcin content increased with the increasing size of the calcification deposits in plaque. Blood osteocalcin concentration directly correlated with osteocalcin concentration in atherosclerotic plaques and was higher in the blood of patients with calcified plaques in coronary arteries. Conclusions: The results provide the basis for further research on the suitability of osteocalcin as a potential biomarker of an unstable calcified atherosclerotic plaque in a coronary artery.

In the proposed paper, an attempt is made to estimate the proportion of unstated income for Russian households based on micro data. An overview of microeconomic approaches to estimating the scale of under-reported income is provided. These approaches are weakly represented in the national literature, so their strengths and weaknesses are also analyzed. A theoretical model of household consumer behavior is described that allows the size of under-reported income to be estimated. The structure of household incomes and expenditures is studied based on an RLMS sample for 2012. The model is estimated using household subsamples based on the type of household and household income. The estimation technique utilizes regression variables and random effects. The resulting subsample estimates were applied to the general population and compared with those obtained by other researchers using alternative methods and other data. A comparison is made to estimates of under-reported income developed for British households.

Aim. To study relation of antioxidant status, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism and to evaluate the influence of these factors on coronary atherosclerotic lesions vulnerability.Material and methods. Totally, 104 men included — mean age 60,74±8,1 y., selected to control (non-CHD) and main group with angiographically verified coronary atherosclerosis and CHD. Main group was divided to 2 subgroups. The first included 38 men, who had unstable plaques, the second — 34 men who had been diagnosed only stable plaques in coronary arteries. In all serum specimens we measured: malonic dialdehyde concentration (MD); oxidation resistance of low density lipoproteides (LDL), general level of oxidation stress; level of retinol, β-carotene in LDL; total cholesterol; high density cholesterol (HDL); cholesterol of low density lipoproteides (CLDL); triglycerides (TG); glucose; C-peptide and insulin. Statistics was done on the SPSS software (13.0).Results. In men with coronary atherosclerosis, comparing to the control group, among the studied complex of lipid-lipoproteide, carbohydrate and oxidation-antioxidant biomarkers in blood there were elevated CLDL, TG, ApoB, relation ApoB/ApoA, LP(a), C-peptide, grade of oxidation stress and CHDL level decreased, as retinol, β-carotene and LDL resistance to oxidation. A stenting procedure aimed at blood flow restoration in stenosed arteries significantly improves the efficiency of vascular surgery. However, the current challenge is to prevent neointimal growth, which reduces the vessel lumen, in the stented segments in the long run. We tested in vivo drug-eluting coating applied by electrospinning to metal vascular stents to inhibit the overgrowth of neointimal cells via both the drug release and mechanical support of the vascular wall. The blend of polycaprolactone with human serum albumin and paclitaxel was used for stent coating by electrospinning. The drug-eluting stents (DESs) were placed using a balloon catheter to the rabbit common iliac artery for 1, 3, and 6 months. The blood flow rate was ultrasonically determined in vivo. After explantation, the stented arterial segment was visually and histologically examined. Any undesirable biological responses (rejection or hemodynamically significant stenosis) were unobservable in the experimental groups. DESs were less traumatic and induced weaker neointimal growth; over six months, the blood flow increased by 37% versus bare-metal stents, where it increased by at least double the rate. Thus, electrospun-coated DESs demonstrate considerable advantages over the bare-metal variants.

Synapse loss is well regarded as the underlying cause for the progressive decline of memory function over the course of Alzheimer's disease (AD) development. Recent observations suggest that the accumulation of the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf-1 (Dkk1) in the AD brain plays a critical role in triggering synaptic degeneration. Mechanistically, Dkk1 cooperates with Kremen1 (Krm1), its transmembrane receptor, to block the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Here, we show that silencing Krm1 with miR-431 prevents amyloid-β-mediated synapse loss in cortico-hippocampal cultures isolated from triple transgenic 3xTg-AD mice. Exposure to AβDDL (an amyloid-β derived diffusive ligand) or Dkk1 reduced the number of pre- and post-synaptic puncta in primary neuronal cultures, while treatment with miR-431 prevented synapse loss. In addition, treatment with miR-431 also prevented neurite degeneration. Our findings demonstrate that miR-431 protects synapses and neurites from Aβ-toxicity in an AD cell culture model and may be a promising therapeutic target.

Since the beginning of the 20th century to the present time, efforts have been made to develop a model of the electrical contact conductance. The development of micro- and nanotechnologies make contact conductance problem more essential. To conduct borrowing from a welldeveloped thermal contact conductance models on the basis of thermal and electrical conductivity analogy is often not possible due to a number of fundamental differences. While some 3Dmodels of rough bodies deformation have been developed in one way or another, a 3D-model of the electrical conductance through rough bodies contact is still not. A spatial model of electrical contact of rough bodies is proposed, allows one to calculate the electrical contact conductance as a function of the contact pressure. Representative elements of the bodies are parallelepipeds with deterministic roughness on the contacting surfaces. First the non-linear elastic-plastic deformation of rough surface under external pressure is solved using the finite element software ANSYS. Then the solution of electrostatic problem goes on the same finite element mesh. Aluminum AD1 is used as the material of the contacting bodies with properties that account for cold work hardening of the surface. The numerical model is built within the continuum mechanics and nanoscale effects are not taken into account. The electrical contact conductance was calculated on the basis of the concept of electrical resistance of the model as the sum of the electrical resistances of the contacting bodies and the contact itself. It was assumed that there is no air in the gap between the bodies. The dependence of the electrical contact conductance on the contact pressure is calculated as well as voltage and current density distributions in the contact bodies. It is determined that the multi-asperity contact mode, adequate to real roughness, is achieved at pressures higher than 3MPa, while results within the single contact spot are suitable for modelling a structured artificial roughness only.

The aim of this study was to investigate miRNA profiles of clarified urine supernatant and combined urine vesicle fractions of healthy donors and patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer (PCa). The comparative analysis of miRNA expression was conducted with a custom miRCURY LNA miRNA qPCR panel. Significant combinations of miRNA pairs were selected by the RandomForest-based feature selection algorithm Boruta; the difference of the medians between the groups and a 95% confidence interval was built using the bootstrap approach. The Asymptotic Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney Test was performed for miRNA combinations to compare different groups of donors. Benjamini-Hochberg correction was used to adjust the statistical significance for multiple comparisons. The most diagnostically significant miRNAs pairs were miR-107-miR-26b.5p and miR-375.3p-miR-26b.5p in the urine supernatant fraction that discriminated the group of healthy patients and PCa patients, as well as miR-31.5p-miR-16.5p, miR-31.5p-miR-200b, miR-31.5p-miR-30e.3p and miR-31.5p-miR-660.5p in the fraction extracellular vesicles that were different between healthy men and benign prostate hyperplasia patients. Such statistical criteria as the occurrence of individual significant miRNA pairs in the total number of comparisons, median ΔCt difference, and confidence interval can be useful tools for determining reliable markers of PCa.

Clofazimine (CFZ) is a broad spectrum antimycobacterial agent recommended by the World Health Organization as a first line treatment for leprosy and second line treatment for multidrug resistant tuberculosis. Oral administration of CFZ leads to a red skin pigmentation side effect. Since CFZ is a weakly basic, red phenazine dye, the skin pigmentation side effect results from lipophilic partitioning of the circulating, free base (neutral) form of CFZ into the skin. Here, we developed a stable and biocompatible formulation of CFZ-HCl microcrystals that mimics the predominant form of the drug that bioaccumulates in macrophages, following long term oral CFZ administration. In mice, intravenous injection of these biomimetic CFZ-HCl microcrystals led to visible drug accumulation in macrophages of the reticuloendothelial system with minimal skin accumulation or pigmentation. In fact, no skin pigmentation was observed when the total amount of CFZ-HCl administered was equivalent to the total oral dose leading to maximal skin pigmentation. Thus, parenteral (injected or inhaled) biomimetic formulations of CFZ-HCl could be instrumental to avoid the pigmentation side effect of oral CFZ therapy.

The experimental data on high-energy charged particle fluxes, obtained in various near-Earth space experiments (MIR orbital station, METEOR-3, GAMMA and SAMPEX satellites) were processed and analyzed with the goal to search for particle bursts. Particle bursts have been selected in every experiment considered. It was shown that the significant part of high-energy charged particle bursts correlates with seismic activity. Moreover, the particle bursts are observed several hours before strong earthquakes; L-shells of particle bursts and corresponding earthquakes are practically the same. Some features of a seismo-magnetosphere connection model, based on the interaction of electromagnetic emission of seismic origin and radiation belt particles, were considered. Key words. MicroRNAs are small, non-coding RNAs that function as key post-transcriptional regulators in neural development, brain function and neurological diseases. Growing evidence indicates that microRNAs are also important mediators of nerve regeneration, however, the affected signaling mechanisms are not clearly understood. In the present study, we show that nerve injury-induced miR-431 stimulates regenerative axon growth by silencing Kremen1, an antagonist of Wnt/beta-catenin signaling. Both the gain-of-function of miR-431 and knockdown of Kremen1 significantly enhance axon outgrowth in murine dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neuronal cultures. Using cross-linking with AGO-2 immunoprecipitation (CLIP), and 3′ untranslated region (UTR) luciferase reporter assay we demonstrate miR-431 direct interaction on the 3’-UTR of Kremen1 mRNA. Together, our results identify miR-431 as an important regulator of axonal regeneration and a promising therapeutic target.

Recent studies suggest that miRNA plays an important role in multiple physiological and pathological processes in the nervous system. In this review article, we described what is currently known about the mechanisms in peripheral nerve regeneration on the cellular and molecular levels. Recently, changes in microRNA expression profiles have been detected in different injury models, and emerging evidence strongly indicates that these changes promote neurons to survive and shift their physiology from maintaining a structure and supporting synaptic transmission toward a regenerative phenotype. We reviewed the putative mechanisms involved in miRNA mediated post-transcriptional regulation and pointed out several areas where future research is necessary to advance our understanding of how targeting miRNA machinery can be used as a therapeutic approach for treating nerve injuries.

bjective: : Analysis of literature sources on variant anatomy of arteries arising from aortic arch and branches. Methods: Analysis of cases of the variant anatomy of arteries arising from the aortic arch (AA) and their branches, based on autopsy, surgery, and modern diagnostic techniques. To gather information, we utilized a range of online resources such as https://www.library.ru, https://www.scopus. com, https://femb.ru/, https://www.cochranelibrary.com/, http://www.acponline.com, https://www.sciencedirect.com/, https://www.embase.com, and the Yandex search engine. The primary research methods utilized were bibliographic and comparative in nature. Conclusion: The AA anatomy displays frequent variations in medical practice. To prevent complications and errors, it is imperative to thoroughly evaluate the patient before performing angiography, surgery, or any relevant medical procedures.

In this work, we propose a new algorithm for detecting the indicator of delayed cerebral ischemia from video-EEG monitoring data. The proposed algorithm combines an algorithm for detecting the effect of interchannel time-frequency synchronization of wavelet spectrogram ridges of EEG signals and an algorithm for detecting motion artifacts in video recording frames. Using the EEG analysis algorithm, we identify an indicator that is used to predict the occurrence of ischemia. By analyzing the optical flow, we exclude time intervals in which erroneous fixation of ischemia indicators is possible. The developed algorithm was tested on the clinical data of video-EEG monitoring. The preliminary results obtained during testing confirm the fundamental possibility of detecting the ischemia indicators and the acceptable accuracy of detecting motion artifacts leading to an erroneous diagnosis.

Aim. To study the associations of blood proteins with the presence of unstable atherosclerotic plaques in the arteries in patients with coronary artery disease using the quantitative proteomic analysis.Materials and methods. The study included patients with coronary artery disease (n = 40); the average age of patients was 58 ± 7 years. Material for the study was blood serum. Protein concentrations in serum samples were determined using the PeptiQuant Plus Proteomics Kit (Cambridge Isotope Laboratories, USA). Protein fractions were identified using the liquid chromatograph and tandem mass spectrometer Q-TRAP 6500.Results. Mass spectrometry revealed an increased concentration of proteins, such as fibrinogen, fibulin-1, and complement factor H, in the serum samples of patients with unstable atherosclerotic plaques. It took place with a simultaneous decrease in the levels of α 2-antiplasmin, heparin cofactor II, coagulation factor XII, plasminogen, prothrombin, vitronectin, complement proteins (C1, C3, C7, C9), and complement factor B. The differences were considered significant at p < 0.05. It was revealed that the presence of unstable atherosclerotic plaques was associated with the level of fibulin-1 (Exp(B) = 1.008; р = 0.05), plasminogen (Exp(В) = 0.995; р = 0.027), and coagulation factor X (Exp(В) = 0.973; р = 0.037).Conclusion. An increased concentration of fibulin-1 can be considered as a potential biomarker of unstable atherosclerotic plaque development in coronary artery disease. The possibility of using the studied proteins as biomarkers of unstable atherosclerotic plaques requires further studies on their potential role in the development of this disease.

Цель. Оценить эффективность и работоспособность кондуита из диэпокси-обработанной яремной вены быка в эксперименте на крупных лабораторных животных в течение 6 мес. Методы. Тринадцать кондуитов из обработанной диэпоксидом яремной вены быка имплантировали в позицию легочной артерии молодым мини-свиньям. Во время наблюдения функцию кондуита оценивали с помощью чреспищеводной эхокардиографии. Через 6 мес. животных выводили из эксперимента и проводили гистологическое исследование эксплантированных кондуитов. Результаты. Все кондуиты успешно имплантировали без хирургических осложнений. Все животные дожили до окончания периода наблюдения. Через 6 мес. у пяти из них отметили увеличение градиента на кондуите: причинами были несоответствие размеров кондуит – легочная артерия (n = 1), дистальный стеноз кондуита (n = 2), эндокардит (n = 2). За время наблюдения не выявили значительного роста регургитации на клапане или тромбоза кондуита. В кондуитах без дисфункции полностью сохранилась структура стенок и створок. Тонкий слой фиброзной ткани покрывал внутреннюю стенку кондуита с полной эндотелизацией поверхности. Дегенеративных изменений, кальцификации или воспалительных клеток в стенке или створках кондуита не было. Пролиферация неоинтимы без отложения кальция наблюдалась в двух кондуитах с дистальным стенозом. В адвентиции выявлены воспалительные клетки, состоящие из многоядерных макрофагов, лимфоцитов и гистиоцитов. В медии и интиме этих кондуитов воспалительная реакция отсутствовала, створки были не изменены. Заключение. Кондуиты из диэпокси-обработанной яремной вены быка продемонстрировали приемлемую эффективность, хорошую эндотелизацию, низкую склонность к тромбообразованию и накоплению кальция в стенке и створках. The data presented in this article are related to the research paper entitled “Observation of night-time emissions of the Earth in the near UV range from the International Space Station with the Mini-EUSO detector” (Remote Sensing of Environment, Volume 284, January 2023, 113336, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.2022.113336).The data have been acquired with the Mini-EUSO detector, an UV telescope operating in the range 290-430 nm and located inside the International Space Station. The detector was launched in August 2019, and it has started operations from the nadir-facing UV-transparent window in the Russian Zvezda module in October 2019. The data presented here refer to 32 sessions acquired between 2019-11-19 and 2021-05-06. The instrument consists of a Fresnel-lens optical system and a focal surface composed of 36 multi-anode photomultiplier tubes, each with 64 channels, for a total of 2304 channels with single photon counting sensitivity. The telescope, with a square field-of-view of 44°, has a spatial resolution on the Earth surface of 6.3 km and saves triggered transient phenomena with a temporal resolution of 2.5 µs and 320 µs. The telescope also operates in continuous acquisition at a 40.96 ms scale.In this article, large-area night-time UV maps obtained processing the 40.96 ms data, taking averages over regions of some specific geographical areas (e.g., Europe, North America) and over the entire globe, are presented. Data are binned into 0.1° × 0.1° or 0.05° × 0.05° cells (depending on the scale of the map) over the Earth's surface. Raw data are made available in the form of tables (latitude, longitude, counts) and .kmz files (containing the .png images). These are – to the best of our knowledge – the highest sensitivity data in this wavelength range and can be of use to various disciplines.

Valved conduits are often required to replace pulmonary arteries (PA). A widely used Contegra device is made of bovine jugular vein (BJV), preserved with glutaraldehyde (GA) and iso-propanol. However, it has several drawbacks that may be attributed to its chemical treatment. We hypothesized that the use of an alternative preservation compound may significantly improve BJV conduit performance. This study aimed to compare the macroscopic and microscopic properties of the BJV treated with diepoxide (DE) and GA in a porcine model. Twelve DE-BJVs and four Contegra conduits were used for PA replacement in minipigs. To assess the isolated influence of GA, we included an additional control group—BJV treated with 0.625% GA (n = 4). The animals were withdrawn after 6 months of follow-up and the conduits were examined. Explanted DE-BJV had a soft elastic wall with no signs of thrombosis or calcification and good conduit integration, including myofibroblast germination, an ingrowth of soft connective tissue formations and remarkable neoangiogenesis. The inner surface of DE-BJVs was covered by a thin neointimal layer with a solid endothelium. Contegra grafts had a stiffer wall with thrombosis on the leaflets. Calcified foci, chondroid metaplasia, and hyalinosis were observed within the wall. The distal anastomotic sites had hyperplastic neointima, partially covered with the endothelium. The wall of GA-BJV was stiff and rigid with degenerative changes, a substantial amount of calcium deposits and dense fibrotic formations in adventitia. An irregular neointimal layer was presented in the anastomotic sites without endothelial cover in the GA BJV wall. These results demonstrate that DE treatment improves conduit integration and the endothelialization of the inner surface while preventing the mineralization of the BJV, which may reduce the risk of early conduit dysfunction.
