Abstract This study explores the interconnections among industrialization, urbanization, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and carbon emissions (CO2e) across 31 OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) countries from 1998 to 2020. In addition, it analyzes how education moderates these relationships. This study employs CO2e as the explained variable, while industrialization, urbanization, and FDI serve as explanatory variables, with education as a moderator. This research utilized Hierarchical regression analysis to examine how education moderates the associations among industrialization, urbanization, FDI, and CO2e. Additionally, to validate the reliability of our results, we utilized the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM). The results of this study imply that CO2e levels increase with the level of industrialization and urbanization. The pursuit of education also contributed to the increase in CO2e. Moreover, education and industrialization have detrimental effects on CO2e. To fill this gap in the existing literature, this study investigates the relationship between industrialization, urbanization, FDI, and CO2e, a domain with scarce empirical investigations. Furthermore, this study contributes uniquely to the literature by investigating the moderating influence of education on the relationships between independent variables and CO2e. This original aspect of this research aims to enhance our understanding of the complex connections between these factors.

Countries all over the world focus on industrialization as a foundation for rapid economic development and unemployment reduction. Without stable external and domestic finance, we cannot achieve this goal. Financial volatility has an impact on a country’s industrialization process. The aim of this study is to determine how external and domestic credit volatility affect industrialization in Africa. Data for some selected countries for 1992–2020 was used. The author used the Prais-Winsten regression method with Panel Corrected Standard Errors (PCSE) to estimate and analyze the model. Descriptive and quantitative methods of analysis were also used to analyze the long-balanced panel data set for the 17 selected African countries with available data. The results showed a combination of positive and negative effects of financial volatility on industrialization in Africa. The study concludes that domestic credit volatility has adversely affected industrialization in Africa and recommends the development of financial institutions on the continent through recapitalization, skilled manpower development and innovative development of different financial instruments.

Today, zeolitic catalysts play an important role in catalytic processes such as cracking, alkylation, etc. However, shaping these catalysts for industrial applications remains a challenge. Despite extensive research in this area in recent years, the number of studies is limited, and detailed information is scarce. Consequently, this study aims to increase awareness of the challenges associated with catalyst shaping and to contribute to the body of knowledge in this field. Following an introduction to the fundamental concepts and shaping techniques, our focus in this review has been on the binder agent, whereby we have categorized the effects of binders that can influence catalyst performance. We demonstrate that while binders may not necessarily possess catalytic properties, the chemical interaction between the binder and the catalyst, as well as the extrusion process, can significantly impact the physicochemical characteristics of the final catalyst, including its acid characteristics, pore characteristics, distribution of loaded metals, and so on. Moreover, depending on the desired properties of the catalyst, different sequences can be employed to utilize the binder. Finally, we identify research gaps in this domain and present recommendations for future studies.

The rubidium clock，as the core part of the Beidou satellite navigation and positioning system，mainly provides high-precision time reference signals. Its accuracy will directly affect the performance of the Beidou system. The high abundance isotope rubidium 87 is the core working material of rubidium clocks. Its abundance is an important factor affecting the accuracy of atomic clocks. The high-abundance rubidium-87 isotopes required for the separation of rubidium bells in the United States and Russia，two major isotope producing countries，use electromagnetic separation technology. At present，the production of rubidium 87 isotopes for electromagnetic isotope separation in China can only meet a small portion of the demand. With the arrival of the 5G era，the demand for high abundance rubidium isotopes in fields such as aerospace and chip clocks has significantly increased. It will further increase the gap in domestic rubidium isotopes. It is expected that the demand for rubidium 87 will reach several hundred grams to several kilograms per year in the future. By analyzing the current development status of the quantum time-frequency field and understanding the demand of rubidium clocks for rubidium 87 isotopes in the quantum time-frequency field，it provides guidance for the industrial development and ideas of electromagnetic separation and preparation of rubidium isotopes in the future.Promoting the industrial development of rubidium 87 isotope separation and preparation as soon as possible. Through technological breakthroughs and large-scale construction，separation efficiency can be improved and production costs can be reduced. This will provide important guarantees for the autonomous control of rubidium 87 isotopes.

ABSTRACT: With its more sustainable production mode and higher healthy food supplying, cultivated meat is gradually regarded as the promising alternative meat food in future by human beings. Most of the countries in the planet had participated in the cut-throat competition for sustainable protein searching, especially for the regions with low food self-sufficiency rate. In this paper, by reviewing the commercial market participation, product development stage, and technical research progress related to cultivated meat in detail, we demonstrated the industrialization progress of cultivated meat and explored the challenges of cultivated meat in the near future. 1) Seeded cell and serum free medium were the basic raw materials, which were directly related to the food safety regulation, production cost control and productivity improvement; 2) Bioreactor and regulation were the cornerstone of industrialization, which were closely related to the capacity expansion, product marketing; 3) Technological improvements in taste, texture, safety, scale, cost were the foundation of realizing product iterative upgrade and market acceptance.

Abstract The supercritical antisolvent (SAS) process was a green alternative to improve the low bioavailability of insoluble drugs. However, it is difficult for SAS process to industrialize with limited production capacity. A coaxial annular nozzle was used to prepare the microcapsules of aprepitant (APR) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) by SAS with N, N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) as solvent. Meanwhile, the effects of polymer/drug ratio, operating pressure, operating temperature and overall concentration on particles morphology, mean particle diameter and size distribution were analyzed. Microcapsules with mean diameters ranging from 2.04 μm and 9.84 μm were successfully produced. The morphology, particle size, thermal behavior, crystallinity, drug content, drug dissolution and residual amount of DMF of samples were analyzed. The results revealed that the APR drug dissolution of the microcapsules by SAS process was faster than the unprocessed APR. Furthermore, the drug powder collected every hour is in the kilogram level, verifying the possibility to scale up the production of pharmaceuticals employing the SAS process from an industrial point of view.

One of the crucial issues confronting China is high carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. Despite the numerous measures outlined to promote the country’s carbon neutrality target, CO2 emissions in the nation continue to increase. This means that more policy options are needed to help improve environmental sustainability (ES) in the nation. Hence, examining the relationship between financial development (FD), foreign direct investment, industrialization, and environmental sustainability in China to provide proper recommendations to drive the carbon neutrality agenda of the nation is deemed fitting. In attaining this goal, time-series data from the period 1990 to 2018 is employed. According to the results, foreign direct investment deteriorates environmental sustainability by promoting more CO2 emissions. This validates the pollution haven hypothesis (PHH). In addition, industrialization and financial development are not friendly to the nation’s environmental quality. Furthermore, economic growth and urbanization escalate environmental pollution in the nation. In addition, the interactions between financial development and foreign direct investment and between financial development and industrialization deteriorate the environment in China. Moreover, foreign direct investment and financial development have an inverted U-shaped association with environmental degradation, but industrialization and environmental pollution are not nonlinearly related. The study advocated for the implementation of measures that could help advance the carbon-neutrality targets of the nation.

African countries are consistently trying to leverage industrialization to advance their economic development. Despite possessing favorable factors such as abundant natural resources, a surplus of low-cost labor, and an increasing number of established Special Economic Zones (SEZs), African countries are yet to fully maximize their potential and achieve sustainable and inclusive industrialization. This study explores the comparative advantages of African countries to determine the types of SEZs that can effectively accelerate industrialization. By leveraging the unique strengths and resources of each country, customized strategies for SEZs can be developed to attract investments, promote technological advancements, and foster sustainable economic growth. The research utilizes the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) matrix, which is grounded in Ricardian trade theory, examining trade data spanning from 2011 to 2021 to evaluate the competitive export capabilities of various countries. The findings consistently reveal that the selected countries (Ghana, Ethiopia, and South Africa) possess a significant and consistent comparative advantage in natural and agricultural resources compared to other sectors. Establishing SEZs that focus on these sectors can generate substantial socio-economic impacts, including attracting investments, creating employment opportunities, enhancing export capacities, stimulating economic growth, fostering linkages, facilitating skills and technology transfer, promoting spillover effects, encouraging specialization, developing infrastructure, and supporting value addition in agribusinesses. The result of this study will contribute to policy discussions and aid decision-making processes for policymakers, investors, and development practitioners in their efforts to advance industrial development across Africa.

Cutting the global economy's dependence on coal has always been seen as one of the most effective measures to reduce carbon emissions and ensure environmental sustainability. However, the demand for coal can vary greatly from country to country. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to identify where the countries with the highest coal consumption stand in reducing coal dependence in energy supply from 1997 to 2021 by utilizing panel data methods and accounting for the possible occurrence of cross-sectional dependence. The empirical results denote that (i) the models used are cross-sectionally independent, (ii) there is a long-run relationship between the variables (iii) rising economic growth upsurges coal demand, while its square reduces coal consumption; therefore, the coal-Kuznets curve is valid; (iv) population density and industrialization boost coal consumption, while demand for natural gas and renewable energy reduces it. Based on the empirical outcomes, the study suggests that natural gas should be promoted alongside renewables to displace coal consumption globally, and that countries should consider the coal-Kuznets curve to channel the increased revenues into clean energy investments.

Solid waste recycling saves resources and energy, reduces carbon emissions, and plays a vital role in forming a green and low-carbon mode of production and living and achieving the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. This study analyzes the development status of the solid waste recycling industry in China and abroad and explores the major challenges faced by the industry of China in terms of process of industrialization, capital investment, and technological innovation. Combined with typical case analyses, we propose the following suggestions to promote the high-quality development of China’s solid waste recycling industry: (1) promoting the process of industrialization to integrate the industrial, innovation, talent, and capital chains; (2) reinforcing incentive policies to consolidate the financial foundation; (3) establishing scientific innovation hubs by strengthening project demonstrations; (4) gathering professional talents to build a high-level cooperation platform.

The study presents an assessment of groundwater vulnerability due to heavy-metal contamination using Heavy Metal Pollution and Contamination Index of Urban Aligarh. Globally, hazardous compounds in industrially contaminated sites are pressing and high-priority issue. A detailed risk assessment was carried out to determine the potential health hazards linked to locations that were recently polluted. A total of 17 groundwater samples were taken from hand-pump and 20 industrial drainage samples were collected from selected areas of Aligarh. The concentration of heavy-metals in the collected samples analyzed were shown on maps using ArcGIS software and interpreted for Heavy Metal Pollution Index (HPIx) and Contamination Index (CDx). These analyzed values were subsequently compared with the permissible limits established by the agencies like EPA, WHO, and BIS. The mean concentration of heavy-metals in groundwater of different locations was observed as follows particular sequence: Ni (1.40), Cu (0.58), Zn (0.06), Fe (0.08), Mn (0.04), Cr (0.001), Pb (0.00025) mg/l. Additionally in industrial effluent, Cr (18.3), Ni (13.34), Mn (1.16), Cu (1.99), Pb (1.2), Fe (6.3), Zn (0.51) mg/l. According to HPIx, the analysis reveals 64.7%, of visited areas belonged to have safe groundwater. Conversely, a smaller proportion, 35.3%, was found falling into heavy metal-polluted group. This study aims to analyze the reliability of Nepal’s industrial policies, focusing on the effects of macroeconomic variables on implementation and outcomes. This paper assesses Nepal’s industrial policies, emphasizing the need for improvements, export promotion, and human capital development while recognizing the importance of strategic planning and context-specific approaches for economic growth, stability, and development. The analytical and descriptive approaches have been applied to analyze the data by collecting secondary data sources that include official publications, which encompass 47 time series variables from 1974 to 2020. The findings provide mixed evidence for the economic impacts of liberalization, with exports and liberalization driving overall GDP growth. In contrast, other factors like economic openness, tourism, and their relationship with industrial GDP remain statistically insignificant. The paper indicates that remittances and investment have the most substantial impact on GDP, raising it by 1.86 and 1.21 units per unit increase, respectively. Exports have a moderate impact on industrial GDP (0.403 units). Export-oriented industries and tourism lack significant associations with either type of GDP. Liberalization significantly boosted both GDP and industrial GDP, with an increase of 179465.3 and 49595.62 units, respectively. Imports also jumped post-liberalization, driven by higher remittances as 1.215 units per unit increase. This study on industrial policies in developing economies, focusing on Nepal, adds valuable insights. The findings can ensure policymaking, boost economic growth, and strengthen Nepal’s industrial sector.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: This study aims to examine the endogenous variable, low-carbon development, and valuate its influencing factors, given its pivotal role in environmental protection amid climate change concerns and economic growth. Low carbon development is a new platform to maintain economic growth through reducing carbon emissions and reducing the use of natural resources, because it was predicted that reducing emissions will increase economic growth while preventing forest loss, improving air quality and living standards, and reducing mortality rates.METHODS: Utilizing a quantitative method, this study integrates a novel viewpoint by combining low-carbon development with related emission factors. The study utilizes secondary data, specifically time series data spanning 31 years from 1991 to 2021, which were analyzed using regression study methods. The factors being examined include capital formation, deforestation, land transportation, agricultural land, and industrialization.FINDINGS: Findings reveal that low-carbon development in North Sumatra is influenced significantly by capital formation, deforestation, agricultural land, and industrialization, with land transportation showing no substantial impact. Capital formation has a favorable impact on low-carbon development. But, deforestation, land transportation, agricultural land and industrialization have a negative impact on low-carbon development. Together, these determinants account for 77.55 percent of the variance. Capital formation contributes 19.8 percent, deforestation 15.6 percent, agricultural land 19.0 percent, and industrialization 18.9 percent to low-carbon development.CONCLUSION: The hypothesis established in this study is accepted. To foster low-carbon development in North Sumatra, specific attention is required from local governments. Capital formation is vital. Measures include controlling interest rates, supporting businesses, fostering an investment-friendly climate, ensuring security, and integrating environmental sustainability considerations into project implementation to curb carbon emissions. Prevention of deforestation involves tightening land clearance licenses and enhancing institutional quality through environmental protection and property rights legislation. The government must strive for promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices with mitigated through outreach programs involving experts who educate farmers on minimizing emissions, reducing carbon emissions from pesticide with using biochar sourced from empty palm fruit bunches and also rice straw which is very easy to obtain at a low cost and is environmentally friendly, and emphasizing environmental preservation policies in the industrial sector like industrial transformation efforts with an effective approach to reducing carbon emissions such as restructuring various aspects of industrial activities, including investment, final demand, intensity and production methods. The implementation of tax emissions and strategic interventions increases the likelihood of realizing low-carbon development in North Sumatra, aligning with sustainable development goals.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to analyze the influence of economic growth, industrialization, government spending, and environmental taxes on environmental quality as well as the influence of environmental quality, unemployment, and inflation on Indonesia’s economic growth. This condition is important to maintain environmentally friendly economic development to achieve sustainable development.METHODS: The study was conducted using simultaneous equation model analysis considering classical assumption tests such as normality tests, granger causality and heteroscedasticity. This study data began in 2015 to 2021 in 34 provinces in Indonesia. In this study, the determinants of environmental quality used were industrialization, government spending and environmental taxes, whereas those of economic growth were unemployment and inflation.FINDINGS: The results of the study indicate that economic growth, industrialization, government spending and environmental taxes have a significant effect on Indonesia’s environmental quality. Collectively, these determinants account for 22.18 percent of the variance. However, environmental quality and unemployment do not have a significant effect on Indonesia’s economic growth. Meanwhile, inflation has a significant effect on economic growth. Simultaneously, the influence of the determinants of economic growth is 33.52 percent.CONCLUSION: Economic growth, industrialization, government spending and environmental taxes have a significant influence on Indonesia’s environmental quality. On the other hand, environmental quality and unemployment do not have a significant effect on Indonesia’s economic growth. Meanwhile, inflation has a significant effect on economic growth. The policies suggested, include the following 1) the government must be able to maintain environmental quality while still encouraging economic growth, implemented by creating an environmentally sound growth concept or applying the green economic concept to harmonize growth and the environment; 2) the industrialization process must be maintained so that it does not damage the environment, and pollution threshold rules created in the industrialization process must be applied

Microfluidic technology facilitates precise control over fluid mixing and interactions between the components, including self-assembly and precipitation. It offers new options for accurately manufacturing particles and holds significant potential in advancing micro/nanoparticle drug delivery systems (DDSs). Various microchannel/microfluidic chips have been explored to construct micro/nanoparticle DDSs. The precise manipulation of particle size, morphology, structure, stiffness, surface characteristics, and elasticity through microfluidic technology relies on specific microchannel geometrical designs and the application of exogenous energy, adhering to the principles of fluid motion. Consequently, this enables reproducible control over critical quality attributes (CQAs), such as particle size and distribution, encapsulation efficiency, drug loading, in vitro and in vivo drug delivery profiles, Zeta potential, and targeting capabilities, for micro/nanoparticle DDSs. In this review, we categorize microfluidic techniques and explore recent research developments in novel microchannel structures spanning the past 5 years (2018–2023) and their applications in micro/nanoparticle DDSs. Additionally, we elucidate the latest manipulation strategies of microfluidic techniques that impact foundational structures related to the CQAs of micro/nanoparticle DDSs. Furthermore, we offer insights into the industrial applications and challenges microfluidic techniques face in the context of novel micro/nanoparticle DDSs.

The increasing carbon emissions in Malaysia necessitate accurate methods to track and control pollution levels. This study focuses on predicting carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations in Petaling Jaya using various machine learning models, and two important parameters, CO concentration and time, were considered in the analysis. Six distinct machine learning models were assessed to gauge their predictive capabilities. These models encompassed a range of regression modeling techniques namely; Linear, Tree, Gaussian Process, Ensemble of Trees, Support Vector, and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) modelling. The Matern 5/2 Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) model consistently outperformed other models across all scenarios, demonstrating high R2 values and low RMSE, MSE, and MAE values. Specifically, in scenarios 1, 2, 3, and 4, the Matern 5/2 model exhibited the lowest RMSE (0.084–0.088) and highest R2 (0.97), highlighting its reliability and robustness in predicting CO concentrations. Additionally, the Rational Quadratic model achieved an R2 of 0.97 with an RMSE of 0.088 in scenario 1, while the Quadratic SVM excelled in scenario 3 with an R2 of 0.965 and low RMSE, MSE, and MAE values (0.085, 0.007, and 0.066). These findings provide valuable insights for environmental protection, renewable energy transition, energy efficiency, sustainable land use planning, and public awareness. However, acknowledging the study's single-area focus and potential limitations in representing diverse regions, further research is warranted to explore carbon emissions across varied areas and enhance the generalizability of the findings.

This research paper explores the presence of the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) in Bangladesh, delving into the intricate relationships among GDP, industrialization, renewable energy utilization, and CO2 emissions. Utilizing the Stochastic Impacts by Regression on Population, Affluence, and Technology (STIRPAT) model, our investigation spans the 1992 to 2021 timeframe, offering a comprehensive analysis of the interplay between these crucial factors in the context of Bangladesh's environmental sustainability. In this study, the F-bound test is utilized to establish the cointegration relationship among variables. And the short-run and long-run elasticity of explanatory variables is investigated by employing the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. This research also employed a pairwise granger causality test to explore the direction of causality between them. Empirical results prove the existence of a cointegration relationship among CO2 emission, GDP per capita, a quadratic form of GDP per capita, renewable energy, industrialization, and population. The findings provide strong support for the presence of the EKC in the case of Bangladesh. Besides that, significant inverse relationship was also obtained between CO2 emission and renewable energy consumption. Additionally, the study found the detrimental long-term effects of industrialization on the environment. The EKC hypothesis argues that Bangladesh can accomplish sustainable economic development. To attain the goal country should adopt appropriate government policies and ensure their implication. This study strongly advocates using sustainable energy sources and implementing regulations on pollutant industries.

The paper examines Maramureș County’s labour regime and describes its transformation from a heavily unionized formation under socialism to today’s deregulated, transnational condition. The region’s former mining cluster and current furniture production hub are posited as sectoral focal points. Union militantism prevented the mining sector’s accelerated decline in the 1990s, but liberalisation and conformity with the European Union’s regulatory frameworks gradually eroded labour rights and shifted the region’s economic profile to export-oriented sectors. Among these, domestic and foreign furniture manufacturers emerged as dominant economic actors in the early 2000s. While the county is well-known for its wood processing, the companies in question tap into IKEA’s global production network and employ low-cost, flexible labour in just-in-time supply schedules. Recent developments include the use of immigrant agency workers as a solution to the county’s skilled and unskilled labour shortage.

Ekonomik büyüme, ülke ekonomisinin üretim hacmindeki uzun vadeli genişleme şeklinde tanımlanabilmektedir. Ekonomik büyüme kavramı tarih boyunca farklı faktörler ile birlikte incelenmiştir. Bu faktörlerden birisi de sanayileşmedir. Sanayi sektörü ekonomilerin kalkınma ve büyümeleri bakımından en önemli sektörlerden bir tanesidir. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de sanayileşmenin ekonomik büyümeye etkileri 1968-2022 dönemi yıllık verileri kullanılarak incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Sanayileşme tarihsel süreçte kalkınma ve ekonomik büyümenin gelişmesine katkı sağlamıştır. Sanayi sektörü istihdam ve üretimi gerçekleştirilen malların ihraç edilmesine katkı sağlayarak büyümenin artmasına katkı sağlamaktadır. Sanayi sektörünün GSMH içerisinde meydana getirebileceği pozitif yansımalar ekonomik büyümenin artmasına katkı sağlayabilecek bi diğer unsurdur. Bu nedenle Türkiye için yapılan bu çalışmada sanayileşmenin ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkileri ARDL sınır testi ekonometrik yöntemi ile uygulamalı olarak analiz edilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre, sanayileşme ile ekonomik büyüme arasında kısa ve uzun dönemde istatiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Bu bağlamda ele alınan yıllar içerisinde, ekonomik büyümeye sanayileşmenin kısa ve uzun dönemde katkı sağladığını söylemek mümkündür.

The article considers the development processes of the food industry of the North Caucasus in the late 1920-ies–1930-ies drawing on the example of Kuban and Stavropol. The aim of the study is to provide a comprehensive analysis of these processes in a ratio of the segments of this industrial branch, to show its conditions and development problems, as well as the factors of its significance both for the local economic system and the country’s economy. To develop these objectives, based on a system approach, as well as other historical research principles and methods, the peculiarities of the regional character, the development dynamics of the Kuban and Stavropol food industry are analyzed for the first time, and their potentials are compared. The author enlarges upon the economic specifics that was determining the economic priorities in these regions of the country and was revealing in the close interrelation of this industry branch with agriculture in these regions. The article shows the structure of the food industry, peculiarities of production, influencing the development of its traditional branches, such as oil production industry, flour milling, meat, dairy, and others, as well as objective and subjective problems, overcome by the industry enterprises. The conclusions are drawn that in the pre-war period, the development of the food industry had reached a whole new level, which was manifested both in noticeable increase in the volume of output, and in the emergence of new industry branches, namely, food-canning, glass, as well as in the change of the industrial appearance of the fish and wine industries. The article emphasizes the role of some large enterprises, both reconstructed and novel, which actively participated in the fulfillment of the most important production goals of the first five-year plans, as well as strengthening regional economies and ensuring food security of the country.

Economic developments affect urban land-use changes. Using Lefebvre’s production of (urban) space as a conceptual framework, this study investigated the industrialisation process and its urban spatial outcomes in three cities (Galan, Dukem, and Bishoftu) along the southern outlet of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital. Landsat images were used to quantify the changing patterns of the three cities from the period 2006 to 2021. Interviews with key informants and document analysis were used to supplement these findings. The analysis reveals that in Addis Ababa-Bishoftu economic growth corridor, the unruly urban land-use changes have become a serious issue, challenging the sustainable development of cities. The study confirms that the proximity to Addis Ababa has contributed to the urbanisation process and urban corridor formation through investment expansion. This calls for a high level of expertise as well as integrated regional development for sustainable urban and industrial development.

As African countries battles to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 (that is, climate change mitigation), there is an increasing need to harness information and communication technology (ICT), renewable energy sources, agriculturalization, industrialization and institutional quality toward achieving this goal. Hence, it has become critical to investigate the potential role that ICT, renewable energy sources, agriculturalization, industrialization and institutional quality could play towards environmental sustainability path in Africa. The study spans from 2000 to 2021 and applied a battery of novel econometric techniques. The variables were found to have a long-term equilibrium relationship, and the causality results indicate that there is a two-way/mutual causality between all of the series (except between ICT and CO2 emissions). Based on the system GMM results, this study recommends that African governments and policymakers can achieve environmental sustainability faster when ICT is jointly utilised with the renewable energy sources and trade openness compared to the levels of industrialization, agriculturalization and institutional quality.

Climate change has gained an increasing trend and has become an international issue, and sustainable energy technologies have been considered the best solution for it that needs new researchers’ focus. Hence, the article examines the impact of sustainable energy technologies such as renewable electricity output on climate change (carbon dioxide emissions) in E7 countries. The article also investigates the impact of renewable energy (RE) consumption, energy use, urbanization, energy import, and industrialization on the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in E7 countries. The secondary data has been gathered using secondary sources such as World Development Indicators (WDI) from 2001 to 2020. The study has used the Method of Moments Quantile Regression (MMQR) to check the linkage among the variables. The results indicated that the renewable electricity output and RE consumption are negatively associated with CO2 emissions in E7 countries. The results also indicated that energy usage, industrialization, energy import, and urbanization positively correlate with CO2 emissions in E7 countries. This research guides the policymakers in developing the policies related to the adoption of sustainable energy technologies to control climate change.

The hydrogen energy serves as the best energy source for future aircraft owing to its efficiency, cleanness, and sustainability. In the context of widespread attention paid to aviation carbon reduction and the trend of low-carbon development of the aviation transportation industry, it is of great value to promote the development and application of hydrogen-powered aircraft. This study analyzes the development background of hydrogen-powered aircraft considering the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals for the aviation industry, and reviews the cutting-edge planning of hydrogen-powered aircraft in other countries as well as the latest progress in overall research and flight testing of hydrogen-powered aircraft in China. A detailed analysis is conducted on the key technology system for the development and application of hydrogen-powered aircraft, covering the overall design, liquid hydrogen storage tanks, hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen-fueled turbine engines, hydrogen-fueled aviation internal combustion engines, safety and airworthiness technologies, and hydrogen refueling infrastructure. Focusing on the industrial application needs of future hydrogen powered aircraft, corresponding total cost of ownership (TCO) models are constructed for commuting/short-range hydrogen-powered aircraft. The calculation results indicate that the TCO of commuting/short-range hydrogen-powered aircraft will be on par with that of pure electric aircraft and fuel-powered aircraft around 2045. Further suggestions are proposed, including adhering to the synchronous development of multiple technological routes, prioritizing the development of power systems,conducting scientific and orderly research and development, and promoting the construction of airworthiness standards systems, thus to provide a basic reference for research on aviation technology innovation and high-quality development of the aviation transportation industry.

The article examines the dynamics of machine tool production in the countries of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and post-Soviet states from the standpoint of statistical science. In the course of the work a data was obtained, the tabular and graphical presentation of which made it possible to identify certain periods of time in the machine tool industry of the USSR and the Commonwealth of Independent States (including the Baltic states), characterized by different dynamics and production structure in individual states. The initial stage of development fell on the territory of modern Russia, but during the years of the existence of the USSR, a number of machine-tool industries were opened in the Union Republics. This gave impetus to industrial development on the periphery of the Soviet state, and by the time the domestic machine tool industry flourished in the late 1970s, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic accounted for less than half of the all-Union output. However, after 1978 there was a significant decline in the dynamics of production in the industry. And after the collapse of the country there is almost complete destruction of the machine-tool industry on the territory of the countries of the former USSR. The results obtained in the course of the study can be useful in scientific and practical activities in assessing the current situation, as well as prospects for the production and consumption of machine tools in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, including Ukraine and the Baltic states.

This paper systematically reviews the trend of carbon dioxide capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) industry in the world and China, presents the CCUS projects, clusters, technologies and strategies/policies, and analyzes the CCUS challenges and countermeasures in China based on the comparison of CCUS industrial development at home and abroad. The global CCUS development has experienced three stages: exploration stage, policy driven stage, and dual-drive stage. Currently, the active large-scale CCUS projects around the world focus on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and are expanding into storage in saline aquifers. The CCUS industry of China has evolved in three stages: exploration, pilot test, and industrialization. In the current critical period of transition from field test to industrialization, China's CCUS projects are EOR-dominated. By comparing the industrial development of CCUS in China and abroad, it is found that the scale-up and industrialization of CCUS in China face challenges in technology, facilities and policies. Finally, future solutions to CCUS development in China are proposed as follows: strengthening the top-level design and planning of CCUS; developing high-efficiency and low-cost CCUS technologies throughout the whole industrial chain; deploying CCUS oil and gas + new energy clusters; improving the policy support system of CCUS; and strengthening discipline construction and personnel training, etc.

This is an essay in the field of mining engineering. High-value utilization of rare earths in fly ash can effectively alleviate the environmental pollution caused by fly ash in my country, expand the supply chain of rare earth raw materials, and ensure the strategic safety of rare earths. This article summarizes the research on rare earth element extraction technology reported from fly ash in recent years, and introduces the research progress of acid method, acid-base combined extraction technology and precipitation method and extraction method. The advantages and disadvantages of the three rare earth element extraction and separation processes are compared. It is pointed out that the research on the extraction technology of rare earth from fly ash can be based on the process flowsheet of the existing industrial equipment for extracting aluminum oxide and gallium from fly ash. The exploration of the collaborative extraction and development of aluminum, gallium and rare earth from fly ash can not only speed up the development of the extraction of rare earth from fly ash. The industrialization of the extraction and application of rare earths in coal ash also can further realize the comprehensive utilization of fly ash and increase the added value of fly ash.

Employing the Difference-in-Differences (DID) method, our study aims to evaluate the impact of industrializing older adult care services on the physical and mental health outcomes of older adults in China.Results: The findings strongly indicate that the government’s adoption of a market-driven fiscal approach within its policies, aimed at attracting social capital and fostering the industrialization of older adult care services, positively influences the physical and mental well-being of the aged population. Despite their promises of wealth creation, productivity increase, and improved living circumstances in Africa, industrialization, and foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows have the potential to endanger the continent’s climate, particularly given the nature of energy intensity and associated emissions connected with their expansion. Thus, this study empirically examined the extent to which industrialization and FDI inflows contribute to the predictability of climate change in Africa, focusing on the top 10 greenhouse gas (GHG) emitting countries on the continent with data spanning from 1990 to 2023. Employing a bias-adjusted ordinary least square estimation technique, we considered both in-sample and out-of-sample forecasts that include several scenario analyses. We reveal both industrialization and FDI inflows as significant predictors of climate change in Africa but with varying degrees of environmental threats. This provides the foundation for, among other things, the suggestion that African continental and sub-regional bodies consider the need for differences in climate commitment strategies across the region based on the varying nature and magnitude of manufacturing intensity and FDI inflows, as well as associated GHG emissions and the nature of climate change vulnerability.

Background. The relevance of studying the phenomenon of public catering in the USSR is due to the need to understand the specifics of the Soviet modernity, the implemen-tation of the project of building a new society in the conditions of Stalin’s reconstruction of the national economy. The purpose of the work is to analyze the process of changes in the functioning of public catering in the 1920s – 1930s on the example of Penza region. Materials and methods. Based on the study of a wide range of sources extracted from the central (Russian State Archive of Economics) and local archives (State Archive of Penza region), as well as published documents, the features of the formation of a key branch of the modern economy – public catering in the period of the 1920s – 1930s are revealed. The methodological basis of the study was the concept of social constructionism or con-structivism, in the context of which the main emphasis is placed on the conditionality of the processes of constructing social reality by state ideology and management practice. Com-parative historical and statistical methods were used to identify the regional specifics of the formation of the Soviet public catering. Results. The main principles, features, advantages and disadvantages of the Soviet public catering in various historical periods – the new eco-nomic policy of the 1920s and industrialization of the 1930s – are analyzed on the example of Penza region. Conclusions. In the period of the 1920s – 1930s, continuity in the work of public canteens of Penza province was maintained: class orientation, advantages and problems characteristic of the previous period. A new trend was a temporary relaxation for private capital admitted to the catering sector in the 1920s. During the years of industriali-zation, it became one of the branches of the Soviet economy that contributed to the solution of important state tasks.

ABSTRACTIncreasing levels of industrialization have been associated with changes in gut microbiome structure and loss of features thought to be crucial for maintaining gut ecological balance. The stability of gut microbial communities over time within individuals seems to be largely affected by these changes but has been overlooked among transitioning populations from low- to middle-income countries. Here, we used metagenomic sequencing to characterize the temporal dynamics in gut microbiomes of 24 individuals living an urban non-industrialized lifestyle in the Brazilian Amazon. We further contextualized our data with 165 matching longitudinal samples from an urban industrialized and a rural non-industrialized population. We show that gut microbiome composition and diversity have greater variability over time among non-industrialized individuals when compared to industrialized counterparts and that taxa may present diverse temporal dynamics across human populations. Enterotype classifications show that community types are generally stable over time despite shifts in microbiome structure. Furthermore, by tracking genomes over time, we show that levels of bacterial population replacements are more frequent among Amazonian individuals and that non-synonymous variants accumulate in genes associated with degradation of host dietary polysaccharides. Taken together, our results suggest that the stability of gut microbiomes is influenced by levels of industrialization and that tracking microbial population dynamics is important to understand how the microbiome will adapt to these transitions.IMPORTANCEThe transition from a rural or non-industrialized lifestyle to urbanization and industrialization has been linked to changes in the structure and function of the human gut microbiome. Understanding how the gut microbiomes changes over time is crucial to define healthy states and to grasp how the gut microbiome interacts with the host environment. Here, we investigate the temporal dynamics of gut microbiomes from an urban and non-industrialized population in the Amazon, as well as metagenomic data sets from urban United States and rural Tanzania. We showed that healthy non-industrialized microbiomes experience greater compositional shifts over time compared to industrialized individuals. Furthermore, bacterial strain populations are more frequently replaced in non-industrialized microbiomes, and most non-synonymous mutations accumulate in genes associated with the degradation of host dietary components. This indicates that microbiome stability is affected by transitions to industrialization, and that strain tracking can elucidate the ecological dynamics behind such transitions.

Africa’s economy continues to be characterized by increasing environmental pollution caused by anthropogenic activities. Despite the implications of environmental pollution in the continent, little attention has been paid to it, although almost all its countries are signatories to the Paris Agreement. One macroeconomic variable that has proven to be a major driver of environmental pollution in the region is industrialization. However, despite the numerous explorations on the connection between industrialization and environmental degradation, limited studies have examined the linkage amidst the series in East Africa. This study was, therefore, conducted to help fill that gap. In accomplishing this goal, econometric techniques that control cross-sectional correlations, heterogeneity, and endogeneity, among others, were employed for the analysis. From the results, the panel under consideration was heterogeneous and cross sectionally correlated. In addition, the studied series were first differenced stationary and co-integrated in the long run. The elasticities of the regressors were explored via the cross sectionally augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL) estimator, the cross sectionally augmented distributed lag (CS-DL) estimator, and the augmented mean group (AMG) estimator. According to the results, industrialization led to a reduction in the environmental quality in the region through high CO2 emissions. In addition, financial development, foreign direct investments, urbanization, and energy consumption were not environmentally friendly in the bloc. On the causal linkages amid the series, bidirectional causalities between industrialization and CO2 emissions, energy consumption and CO2 emissions, and foreign direct investments and CO2 emissions were detected. Finally, one-way causal movements from financial development and urbanization to CO2 emissions were unraveled. These findings are useful in helping stimulate the emission mitigation agenda of the region. Based on the findings, the study recommended, among others, that national policies that can promote energy conservation at the industrial level and can convert the industrial structure of the region to a low carbon-intensive one should be formulated.

This review offers a novel perspective by exploring the combined effects of microplastics (MPs) and urbanization on soil health, differing from conventional studies that focus solely on individual factors. Integrating the impact of urbanization and MPs provides a holistic view, revealing significant implications for soil degradation. As research on microplastics within soil gains traction, understanding the complex interplay between urban soil and microplastics becomes crucial. We have conducted a comprehensive review of existing literature, examining the origins of microplastics, their movement through soil, detrimental effects on soil health and function, transmission through food chains, and consequent harm to soil organisms. This review aims to summarize the origins and consequences of MPs and urbanization on soil health, assess the influence of MPs on soil vitality and functionality, and scrutinize potential ecological and health hazards within soil due to microplastics. By consolidating prior research, this review contributes insights into land-use changes associated with urbanization, elucidates the relationship between MPs and urbanization concerning soil health, examines microplastic migration and toxicology, and proposes management strategies to mitigate the risks posed by MPs and urbanization. The urgent need to develop effective strategies to manage these pollutants stresses the significance of this research, suggesting approaches such as reducing plastic usage, implementing sustainable urban and industrial practices, and employing efficient soil restoration methods.

Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) secreted by cells. With advances in the study of sEVs, they have shown great potential in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. However, sEV therapy usually requires a certain dose and purity of sEVs to achieve the therapeutic effect, but the existing sEV purification technology exists in the form of low yield, low purity, time-consuming, complex operation and many other problems, which greatly limits the application of sEVs. Therefore, how to obtain high-purity and high-quality sEVs quickly and efficiently, and make them realize large-scale production is a major problem in current sEV research. This paper discusses how to improve the purity and yield of sEVs from the whole production process of sEVs, including the upstream cell line selection and cell culture process, to the downstream isolation and purification, quality testing and the final storage technology.

Social sustainability is a global necessity because of environmental and economic uncertainty. This issue needs the foremost solution, and for this purpose, researchers’ and policymakers’ emphasis is required. Thereby, the present paper investigates sustainable energy technologies such as solar and hydroelectric, eco-innovation and EG and their impact on social sustainability in China. The study also used industrialization and inflation as the control variables in the time span of 1981 to 2020. The present study also applied the Dynamic Auto-regressive Distributed Lags (DARDL) model to evaluate the association between the outlined variables. The results indicated that sustainable energy technologies such as solar and hydroelectric, eco-innovation, economic growth, industrialization and inflation are significantly associated with social sustainability in China. The present paper offers standard policies to regulators in making regulations related to maintaining social sustainability by using effective sustainable energy technologies and eco-innovation.

First paragraphs: The Harvard Business School defines trans­formational changes as “changes that are typically much grander in scope than incremental, adaptive changes. Very often, transformational change refers to a dramatic evolution of some basic structure of the business itself—its strategy, culture, organization, physical structure, supply chain, or processes” (Harvard Business School Online, 2020, “Transformational Change,” para. 1). I have lived and worked through a period of transforma­tional change in American agriculture. I was born in 1939 and raised on a small family farm in southwest Missouri. The only farm ma­chin­ery in our community during the early 1940s was a steam engine that powered a threshing ma­chine that moved from farm to farm at harvest time. Everything on the farm was done with horse power or human power. We milked cows by hand, picked corn by hand, and plowed fields and culti­vated crops with horse-drawn equipment. Like most farmers in the U.S. at the time, most farmers in our community milked a few cows, raised a few hogs and chickens, and grew at least enough feed grains and forages for their livestock. They used crop rotations and livestock manure to manage pests and maintain soil fertility. Neighboring farmers shared their horse power and human power at harvest times—as a matter of necessity. I recall silo-filling crews of up to 40 farmers. Our commu­nity may have been a few years behind some other areas, but this was pretty much the state of agricul­ture in the U.S. in the late 1940s. . . .

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of industrialization on human food security in Debre Berhan city, Ethiopia. The research design used to conduct the study was descriptive, with mixed data-gathering approaches and analytical methods. Both primary and secondary data sources were used to collect the required data through laboratory tests, questionnaires, interviews, and FGDs. 227 farming households and 328 factory employees were selected systematically from and around sample industries for the sample survey. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, such as percentages, means, and standard deviations. In addition, the study used inferential statistical techniques, including a logistic regression model to identify relationships and patterns within the data. Whereas thematic analysis was used to assess the qualitative data. The findings of the study revealed that 52% and 53% of households and 47% and 49% of factory workers failed to achieve the minimum quantity and quality of food, respectively. Whereas, based on a proxy measure of the percentage of budgets devoted to food purchases, 83% of employees and 77% of farming households were classified as food insecure. The findings of the binary logistic regression analysis also indicated that food insecurity had a significant relationship with family size (β = 0.441, p = 0.007), livestock number (β = −0.221, p = 0.001), farmland size (β = −1.292, p = 0.061), distance from factories (β = −0.691, p = 0.005), off-farm employment (β = −2.789, p = 0.014), compensation for lost asset (β = −3.037, p = 0.002) and access to training (β = −3.037, p = 0.000). The study indicates that households with larger families, fewer livestock, smaller agricultural lands, lack of off-farm income, proximity to industries, insufficient compensation, and inadequate training experience food insecurity. The study concludes that industrial expansion negatively and significantly affected the food security of the farming and employed households. The study recommends that fair compensation, create off-farm income, prioritize community well-being, and foster sustainable development amidst industrial expansion.

Abstract Solar hydrogen production through water splitting is the most important and promising approach to obtaining green hydrogen energy. Although this technology developed rapidly in the last two decades, it is still a long way from true commercialization. In particular, the efficiency and scalability of solar hydrogen production have attracted extensive attention in the field of basic research. Currently, the three most studied routes for solar hydrogen production include photocatalytic (PC), photoelectrochemical (PEC), and photovoltaic-electrochemical (PV-EC) water splitting. In this review, we briefly introduce the motivation of developing green hydrogen energy, and then summarize the influential breakthroughs on efficiency and scalability for solar hydrogen production, especially those cases that are instructive to practical applications. Finally, we analyze the challenges facing the industrialization of hydrogen production from solar water splitting and provide insights for accelerating the transition from basic research to practical applications. Overall, this review can provide a meaningful reference for addressing the issues of efficiency improvement and scale expansion of solar hydrogen production, thereby promoting the innovation and growth of renewable hydrogen energy industry. Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework requires adherence to the principles of biodiversity conservation and sustainable maintenance mechanisms, exploring the path for realizing the beautiful vision of “coexisting harmoniously with nature.” Yunnan has extremely rich wild edible fungus resources, forming a unique “edible fungus culture.” In order to improve people's ecological conservation awareness, to promote the survival and development of wild edible fungus resources, and to further promote the development of Yunnan's wild edible fungus industry, we investigated the current status of protection and utilization of Yunnan's wild edible fungus resources based on the sorting of relevant laws and regulations and policy documents at both the national and local levels through the literature review and questionnaire survey. With the increasing popularity of natural mushroom products, the production and output value of wild edible fungus have increased significantly, but the number of wild edible fungus has sharply reduced, and some wild edible fungus populations are in a state of endangered and vulnerable. Weak ecological conservation awareness, disorderly collection, and other factors all endanger the survival and development of wild edible fungus resources. Meanwhile, the lack of relevant industry standards also greatly hinders the development of wild edible fungus industry in Yunnan. In view of the above problems, we propose the following suggestions: (1) To accelerate the special legislation for protection and development of wild edible fungus resources, not staying in the current fragmented or confused legislative state, and not only satisfying local policy protection. (2) To construct a standard system for wild edible fungus collection, sales (including international trade), processing, transportation, etc., accurately protecting wild edible fungus, especially for the collection of nationally protected populations, a collection license system should be gradually established. (3) To strengthen the technical support for the whole industry chain and to promote the construction of science and technology systems, such as wild edible fungus germplasm preservation, artificial cultivation, and advanced processing. This study is expected to push forward the further supplement and improvement of the standards for wild mushroom collection, processing and circulation, and the policies for protection and utilization of resources, and provide the support and guarantee for protection, utilization and sustainable development of wild mushroom industry.

Tanzimat dönemi ile önem kazanan fabrikalaşma beraberinde yeni bir sorunu ortaya çıkarmıştır. Fabrika sayısının artışı karşısında istihdam edilecek kalifiye eleman bulunmak zorlaşmıştır. Devlet bu sorunu çözmek için mesleki ve teknik okulların açılmasını ve bu okullarda kalifiye eleman yetiştirilmesini amaçlamıştır. Ülkenin çeşitli bölgelerinde kısa süre içinde Islahhaneler, Sanayi Mektepleri, Kız Sanayi Mektepleri ve Ziraat Mektepleri açılmıştır. Bu mekteplerden beklenen yararın sağlanması için devlet önlemler almış, mekteplerin düzenli gelir elde etmelerini sağlamak amacıyla çeşitli düzenlemeler yapmıştır. Bu mekteplerin bazıları günümüzde ülkemizin köklü eğitim kurumlarının temeli sayılmaktadır. Çalışmada Osmanlı Devleti’nde kritik bir sorun olan nitelikli işgücü istihdamı sorununu çözmeye yönelik olarak açılan Sanayi Mektepleri’nin iktisadi katkıları incelenmiştir.

The article deals with the features of the industrial development of the Lower Volga Region in the pre-war years. The completion of some facilities, the implementation of rapid structural changes, the development of many types of new products, and the provision of sufficiently high rates of development contributed to the transformation of the region into a major industrial center. A comparative analysis of the industrial development of the region in the pre-revolutionary and Soviet periods proves the effectiveness of the socialist model of industrial development.

In recent years, owing to the miniaturization of the fluidic environment, microfluidic technology offers unique opportunities for the implementation of nano drug delivery systems (NDDSs) production processes. Compared with traditional methods, microfluidics improves the controllability and uniformity of NDDSs. The fast mixing and laminar flow properties achieved in the microchannels can tune the physicochemical properties of NDDSs, including particle size, distribution and morphology, resulting in narrow particle size distribution and high drug-loading capacity. The success of lipid nanoparticles encapsulated mRNA vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 by microfluidics also confirmed its feasibility for scaling up the preparation of NDDSs via parallelization or numbering-up. In this review, we provide a comprehensive summary of microfluidics-based NDDSs, including the fundamentals of microfluidics, microfluidic synthesis of NDDSs, and their industrialization. The challenges of microfluidics-based NDDSs in the current status and the prospects for future development are also discussed. We believe that this review will provide good guidance for microfluidics-based NDDSs.

The construction industry is being profoundly reshaped by the trends of industrialization and digitalization, which, when integrated, offer greater advantages than when applied in isolation. Despite an expanding body of research, a knowledge gap persists regarding the current state and future trajectory of this integration. This study utilizes both quantitative and qualitative review methods to elucidate recent advancements in digital technologies within industrialized construction projects. An analysis of 173 scholarly articles indicates that digital technologies primarily enhance efficiency, flexibility, visualization, and intelligence. The adoption of these technologies varies across different project stages, with a notable trend towards their convergence. However, the operation stage receives significantly less attention compared to the design, production, and construction stages. This study not only identifies specific research gaps for each project stage but also provides recommendations for future research, thereby paving the way for further advancements in the field.

Exploring the impact of economic modernization on carbon balance is an essential endeavor to achieve carbon neutrality and combat climate change. However, the spatial impact of economic modernization on carbon balance remains ambiguous. Therefore, this study aims to explore the spatial spillover effects of agricultural modernization, industrialization, and urbanization on carbon balance during the economic modernization process in China, taking 30 provinces and cities in China as examples from 2010 to 2021. This study utilizes the spatial Durbin model to derive the following results: In the past decade, the carbon balance ratio has shown a fluctuating and decreasing dynamic evolution trend. There is an increase in regions with serious carbon deficits. Further investigation into the spatial spillover effect of carbon balance unveils that for every 1% increase in the carbon balance ratio of a province, neighboring provinces experience a decrease of 0.833%. Additionally, the spatial spillover effects of the three modernizations in China on the carbon balance ratio behave differently. Agricultural modernization and urbanization demonstrate negative spatial spillover effects on the carbon balance in neighboring regions, while industrialization exerts a significant positive spatial spillover effect on the carbon balance of neighboring regions. Regarding control variables, the level of innovation solely contributes to local carbon balance realization without generating a trickle-down effect, whereas infrastructure development operates inversely. At the same time, there are differences in the spatial effects of agricultural modernization and industrialization on the carbon balance between the eastern region and the central and western regions. The study underscores the importance of economic modernization and development processes focusing on fostering synergistic growth between economic and environmental benefits within both local and neighboring areas.

The transition to an electromechanical drive of equipment has become a new milestone in industrialization, which has led to significant: an increase in labor productivy and a decrease in the energy intensity of production processes. But on the Ukrainian lands of the Russian Empire, this innovation was not introduced until the mid-1890s, and only since that time the process of electrification of production at Ukrainian enterprises has been developed, however, with a simultaneous retain the steam-mechanical drive of equipment also. The Kharkiv plant of the Joint-Stock Company Russian Locomotive-building and Mechanical Society became the first enterprise not only in the Ukrainian provinces of the Russian Empire, but throughout the country, which used solely an electromechanical drive for all equipment. Taking into account this priority, the organizational preparation for the process of electrification of this enterprise also became the first experience in the country of introducing such an innovation, comparable, perhaps, only with the experience of switching from a mechanical to a steam-mechanical drive, which, however, was not studied in the Russian Empire. Simultaneously, the level of technical literacy of a part of the management of the Joint-Stock Company Russian Locomotive-building and Mechanical Society was not high enough to give a technical and economic assessment of the relevant innovations. Therefore, the organizational preparation for the electrification of the Kharkov plant of this Society was carried out without any clear methodological approaches, which in the discussion regarding the electrification scheme of the enterprise led to the replacement of the issue of choosing the best option from the most effective ones to the question of choosing the best one from the cheap ones. As a result, the Society's experts developed terms of reference for a compromise version of the electrification project, the essence of which was to install relatively new electrical equipment in terms of technical level, but operated according to an already outdated scheme, which made this electrification option neither efficient nor cheap, but politically acceptable for the entire leadership of Society. Eventually, it was possible to achieve the expected benefits from the electrification of the plant not from the implantation of the chosen scheme for its implementation, but by concluding strategic agreements with Siemens & Halske, according to which the Company's Management Board ensured it won the competition for the electrification of Society's enterprise at an affordable price, and Siemens & Halske, in turn, subsequently supplied the Company with its products at significant discounts.

The study examines the processes of development of the Kuban region’s industry and its production problems, which were addressed during the first five-year plans. The study presents the results of a comparative analysis of the industrial potential of the Kuban districts, and raises questions about their identification parameters, including directions of development, reconstruction processes, and outcomes. The study demonstrates that the main factors driving the growth of the region’s industry and the development of new sectors are the use of agricultural resources and their processing, expansion of fuel resources and construction materials, reconstruction, and improvements in technical equipment of enterprises. Special attention is given to the production growth and increased economic status of individual large factories and plants. The novelty of this research lies in the comprehensive analysis of industrial sector development in Kuban and their relationships, production growth, and realization of potential for the most significant enterprises in the context of modernization tasks during the first five-year plans. It is noted that four Kuban districts had traditionally played an important role in the economy, possessing a large raw material base specific to each district. The study shows that during the 1920s-1930s period, Kuban witnessed an increase in industrial production output, establishment of new industries (chemical, canning, machine-building, etc.), development of natural resources, and creation of a resort zone in the Kuban Black Sea region.

The manufacturing industry’s contribution to East Java’s economy is high. Still, the trend continues to decline, while the contribution of the trade, hotel, and restaurant sectors is increasing. This indicates that there has been a shift in the economic structure from industry to trade. This research uses a quantitative approach based on the classification carried out by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and the World Bank. The results of secondary data from Central BPS and East Java Province BPS show that East Java Province is categorized as a semi-industrial area. East Java’s industrial development is experiencing a decline from the “semi- industrialization” stage to the “towards industrialization” stage. This is an early indication of a decline in industrialization or deindustrialization in East Java. If the stages of industrialization in East Java have decreased, but not for commodity industrialization (the ratio of the manufacturing industry’s contribution to the commodity sector). The value of commodity industrialization continues to increase. The commodity sector includes agriculture, mining, industry, construction, electricity, gas & drinking water.

The current research presents the design and development of a prefabricated modular façade solution for renovating residential buildings. The system is conceived as an industrialised solution that incorporates solar harvesting technologies, contributing to reducing energy consumption by employing an “active façade” concept. One of the main challenges was to achieve a highly flexible solution both in terms of geometry and enabling the incorporation of different solar-capturing devices (photovoltaic, thermal, and hybrid). Therefore, to be able to provide alternative customised configurations that can be fitted to various building renovation scenarios. Guided by the requirements and specifications, the design was defined after an iterative process, concluding with a final system design validated and adopted as viable for the intended purpose. A dimensional study for interconnecting all the technologies composing the system was carried out. Potential alternative configurations were assessed under the modularity and versatility perspective, resulting in a set of alternative combinations that better fit the established requirements. Complementarily, the system also integrates an active window solution a component that incorporates an autonomous energy recovery system through ventilation. The main outcome is explicated in a highly versatile modular façade system, which gives existing buildings the possibility to achieve Nearly Zero Energy Building requirements.

This paper aims to understand the geo-economic dynamics of industry in Ampére and the main characteristics and determining factors of this process, understanding it not as an isolated fact, but connected to the regional and national context. The Socio-Spatial Formation (SSF) category of analysis was considered, along with a bibliographical and documentary review and fieldwork. The SEF of the southwest of Paraná, the mesoregion of the study area, was developed based on small-scale commercial production and Ampére has a significant manufacturing sector, standing out in two sectors of the transformation industry (clothing and furniture production). In the southwest of Paraná, it is the main hub for these sectors; in the state of Paraná, it is among the 10 main hubs and in Brazil, it is the 65th largest employer in the clothing sector and the 43rd in the furniture industry. This position of industrial importance is the result of a combination of private initiatives based on small-scale commercial production, municipal public support, as well as federal policies and programs that boosted the domestic market during the 2000s

The ultimate purpose of this study is to scrutinize industrialization via movies in a thematic ways. Actually, industrialization, which occurs at the end of the 18th and the outbreak of the 19th century, is the process of mechanization of production and the rationalization of policy as a whole. It is economically the onset of mechanization, commercialization or fabrication of goods in a massive way and the utilization of logic on a political basis. Without logic or ration, it is quite impossible that there will be no transformation like this. At the same time, it is the direct outbreak of capital accumulation. There are a great many factors for its emergence to be debated; however, there is a green reality that this is not a linear process. In the stark contrast, it is eclectical as well as progressive. History also whispers us that this innovative stage ranging from Industry 1.0 to Industry 4.0 converts into a development culture, which has been dominated by the West since Renaissance and Reform. Comprehending the reasons for the formation of this innovative culture is of great significance for all of us. In this study, our main objective is to read these spheres of improvement on the basis of four movies for four stages. Industry 1.0, associated with steam power is represented by Oliver Twist (2005); Industry 2.0 is related to Modern Times (1936), as for Industry 3.0, it is based upon A Beautiful Mind (2001) while Industry 4.0 is overviewed with Replicas (2018).
