To deeply analyze the performance of paper-cutting elements in interior space design, this paper explores the artistic expression of paper-cutting elements. The BIM model is constructed based on the TVL algorithm, and a noise-reducing style migration method with an additional total variable loss function is used to fuse the texture features of a specific paper-cutting style so that the paper-cutting texture is generated in the target object area more intensively. The algorithm is supplemented with a U-shaped network structure to obtain the mask map of the target object, modify and expand the ScanNet training data set, and input a content map and a style map to generate the stylized paper cutout image automatically. The results show that compared with other elements, the stability of paper-cut elements reaches 96.31%, the image smoothness reaches 89.34%, and the retention of significant regions reaches 93.26%. In modern design, the peak signal-noise of paper-cut elements improved by 13.418d on average, the structural similarity also improved by 0.34807, and the recognition rate of paper-cut elements in the furnishing category reached 95%. Applying paper-cut art in interior space design can give interior furnishing design better visual effects, provide inspiration and ideas for interior space design innovation, and contribute to improving aesthetics.

The study of metadiscourse word resources is an important way to reveal academic knowledge constructs and genre features in English papers. This paper selects intra- and interdisciplinary English academic papers as data samples, and the text representation is based on the vector space model. The text similarity is calculated using the word movement distance model to complete the clustering based on the density peak, and then the semantic annotation of metadiscourse verb patterns is performed using the conditional random field. Then, the intra- and interdisciplinary metadiscourse annotations are compared to analyze the variation of verb patterns. The intra-disciplinary variation of metadiscourse verb patterns was mainly found using attitude markers, where the log-likelihood ratios of 48.56, 30.25, and 35.64 were obtained for affirmative, critical, and critical declarative attitudes, respectively. In interdisciplinary studies, basic disciplines preferred to use verb patterns as transitions, while applied disciplines preferred to express the author’s point of view. The study of metadiscourse verb patterns effectively enriches the linguistic resources in academic English teaching and deepens the understanding of the characteristics of disciplinary essay genres.

This investigation delves into the evolving patterns and regional variances in industry-academia collaboration (IAC) within Functional Nucleic Acids (FNAs) research. Analyzing publications and patents from 1990 to 2021, we dissected IAC at individual and collective levels, documenting the count and share of IAC endeavors, key partners, and regional differences. Results indicate a rising trend in IAC publications and collaborating institutions, while patent trends display a mix of increases, decreases, and steady states. The United States leads in IAC activities, correlating with its prowess in scientific research and technological innovation. Notably, regional discrepancies in IAC are mainly due to intra-regional variations, with Asia and Europe experiencing the most pronounced disparities.

Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), this study revolutionizes examination management and education in universities by developing an intelligent system encompassing comprehensive management, pre-examination activities, scheduling, and preparation. The system also features a quality management component for educational outcomes. An enhanced genetic algorithm introduces an adaptation function to optimize intelligent grouping, facilitating effective exam paper distribution. Applied at Y University, our innovative approach significantly refines exam paper difficulty (ranging between 0.5016 and 0.5581) and differentiation (0.3845 to 0.4596), showcasing the intelligent algorithm’s effectiveness in exam management and contributing valuable insights to educational research.

This paper compares the amendments introduced by the Regulation of Lobbying and Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) (Amendment) Act 2023 with the original regulations of the Regulation of Lobbying Act 2015. The study was conducted using the Hired Guns Method for assessing the robustness of lobbying legislation, developed by the Centre for Public Integrity (CPI), allowing findings to be compared with lobbying regulations internationally. The 2015 legislation was introduced after years of tribunals, scandals, unfulfilled political promises, and economic crisis, in an effort to increase the public’s trust in politicians, representative institutions, democracy and the wider bureaucracy. The 2023 Amendment came in the wake of a 2020 lobbying scandal. The paper finds that, despite the CPI score remaining unchanged, in-depth examination of the legislation showed that the amendment introduced more rules and sanctions, particularly in relation to designated public officials, and closed off outstanding legislative loopholes.

Data and debates about the role of women in the digital world are gaining increasing importance in the study of gender and the digital economy. This paper explores the complex relationship of the role of women in the digital economy over the last two decades. The analysis used a review of the literature of scientific works and documents of official international institutions. All available sources indicate progress in recent years, but challenges remain. Several samples were created, and quantitative analysis assessed trends over time. The general conclusions suggest that the role of women in the digital economy is increasingly pronounced and significant. The results of the study confirm global expectations that promote the role of women in the digital economy (glass ceilings), where women work in key positions (women on boards) and participate in decision-making (glass cliffs). The regression econometric model shows that the role of women in the digital economy is increasingly important to recognize women who use Internet networks to a greater extent (business, social), those with above basic overall digital skills, as well as ICT experts. The paper ends with a list of potential recommendations for the modern framework of the digital economy.

The purpose of the current paper is to study how customer loyalty varies in time according to customer segments and external factors. In the first part of the paper, the authors have reviewed in a funnel-like manner the relevant literature, starting with relationship marketing and customer relationship management theories, and ending with customer loyalty. To achieve the paper’s research purpose, buying behavior data (recency of last transaction, buying frequency and monetary value spent) from a company’s internal information system was analyzed for 2019 and 2020, respectively. RFM model was applied on the 2019 data and resulted in three segments: heavy, medium, and low users - segments which varied in their loyalty for the year 2020. Based on the obtained findings, the authors concluded that the more intense a customer’s buying behavior is, the higher their probability is of being loyal in the future. A second conclusion assumes that customers characterized by intense buying behavior are less vulnerable to external threats, the Covid-19 pandemic in our case.

This paper briefly discusses the relations between logic and metalogic in history. Metalogic is understood as a reflection on logic in its various senses, particularly sensu stricto (formal, mathematical) and sensu largo (formal logic plus semantic plus methodology of science). It is shown that metalogic in its contemporary understanding arose after mathematical logic had become a mature discipline. Special passage is devoted to metalogic in Poland. The last part of the paper discussed so-called logocentric predicament.

The air pollution of our planet is rising, and the contribution of road transport to global pollution has a serious impact on this phenomenon. Previous papers have analysed and recommended measures to reduce road transport’s negative environmental impact and carbon footprint. However, some restrictions are impossible (or very costly) to meet, even in developed countries. Unfortunately, presenting the impact of transport on air pollution levels as a whole can only give a general picture. This paper provides a more detailed analysis and attempts to assess the impact of one of the most important elements shaping modern transport, that is, vehicle engine types. Thus, the main objective of the study is to analyse and evaluate the different types of engines in vehicles from the point of view of technical, environmental, and economic aspects in European countries and to verify whether Europe is ready to implement the European Green Deal. The results indicate significant technological developments must occur in electric vehicles to become environmentally better than combustion engine-based cars. Additionally, in the case of some developing countries, owning a means of transport is still perceived as a symbol of a certain status, which is why it is still an important material asset. Thus, in rich countries, material status and environmental awareness (e.g. choice of public transport) will help to achieve climate neutrality, while poorer countries (even developed ones) may have severe problems in meeting EU requirements. Overall, while answering some questions, this article also poses new ones. Decision-makers often face challenging aspects. This article is intended to give them a basic knowledge to pursue an environmental policy that is viable and feasible for all countries.

The paper addresses the issue of evaluating the attractiveness of new airport connections, one of which is a global transfer hub and the other is a regional European international airport. The attractiveness of new connections expressed, for example, by predicting the demand for new flight routes has long been studied, mainly using gravity models. The aim of the presented paper is to check whether an approach based on gravity models could be replaced with other approaches, in this case by multi-criteria evaluation methods. Questions of substitution of approaches based on gravity models, compiled for demand prediction, are relevant in cases where there are not enough input data for existing gravity models. The absence of input data occurs especially in cases where either there is no historical data on the operation of flights, or historical data do not have current significance, e.g. the operation of the flight has been interrupted for a longer time. The results of a study carried out for Ostrava International Airport located in the Czech Republic, show that gravity models for which relevant data are not available can be fully replaced by multi-criteria evaluation methods.
