The Nd-Fe-B anisotropic magnetic powders were subjected to tempering and ball milling processes. Analysis of the magnetic properties, structure, and physical phase revealed that the following: the integrated magnetic properties of the magnetic powder were the best when the tempering temperature and time were separately 650 °C and 20 min, for DOA = 0.73, Br = 6.547 kGs, Hcj = 12.255 kOe, and (BH)max = 7.117 MGOe. When the DR temperature is 860 °C, the tempering temperature is 650 °C, and the tempering time is 20 min, the ideal magnetic properties of the magnetic powder are DOA = 0.69, Br = 6.238 kGs, Hcj = 14.67 kOe, and (BH)max = 7.060 MGOe. The integrated magnetic properties of the magnetic powders were optimal when the ball milling speed, time, and doped Cu content were 350 rpm, 2 h, and 10 wt%, for DOA = 0.62, Br = 4.96 kGs, Hcj = 9.86 kOe, and (BH)max = 4.39 MGOe. The ideal tempering temperature and time can promote the diffusion of Nd-rich phase to the grain boundaries, strengthen the pinning effect on the magnetic domains, and improve the coercivity of the magnetic powder. The ideal ball milling speed and time can effectively reduce the particle size of the main phase particles of the magnetic powder and the large particles of the Nd-rich phase, so that the Nd-rich phase is uniformly distributed at the grain boundaries, to achieve the effect of de-magnetization coupling and improve the coercivity of the magnetic powder. After ball milling the magnetic powder doped with an appropriate amount of Cu powder, Cu induces the precipitation of a certain amount of Nd in the main phase of Nd2Fe14B. This Nd is uniformly distributed at the grain boundaries, achieving the effect of repairing the grain boundaries, thereby improving the coercivity of the magnetic powder. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The utilisation of plant-based temper in Songze culture pottery incorporated a substantial proportion of fibre and exhibited a microstructure resembling a fully oxidised rice husk temper (Grog). However, during the Liangzhu and Guangfulin periods, these plant-based tempers underwent a transformation into quartz and other mineral tempers. Notably, amphibole tempers were identified in pottery from the Liangzhu culture, particularly in black pottery coatings. The structure of the low-aluminium ceramic coating was determined to be porous, and initially, this type of temper was thought to be debris resulting from jade processing. However, experimental archaeological studies have demonstrated that it is difficult for jade fragments to develop a similar petrographic structure. In pottery from the Guangfulin culture, white pottery coatings turned black when compacted. This colour alteration may have been achieved through simple sintering processing, suggesting the potential utilisation of a two-step pottery processing technique under low-fire conditions. BACKGROUND: This study aimed to investigate the effects of semidry milling on the quality attributes of highland barley flour and highland barley bread. Highland barley flours were prepared by dry (DBF), semidry (SBF), and wet (WBF) milling methods. The properties of different highland barley flours were analyzed, and highland barley breads made from different highland barley flours were evaluated. RESULTS: The results showed that WBF had the lowest damaged starch content (15.2 g kg−1), and the contents of damaged starch in SBF‐35 and SBF‐40 (43.5 g kg−1 and 24.1 g kg−1 respectively) were lower than that of DBF (87.6 g kg−1). And SBF‐35 and SBF‐40 with large particles exhibited low hydration performance. In addition, SBF‐35 and SBF‐40 had higher pasting viscosity, pasting temperature, ΔH, and relative crystallinity, consequently resulting in better gel properties than other highland barley flours. These properties could help SBF‐35 and SBF‐40 develop high‐quality bread with large specific volume and superior crumb structure and texture that is similar to the bread with WBF. CONCLUSION: Overall, semidry milling not only could improve the characteristics of HBF, but also avoid high starch damage by dry milling and water wasting by wet milling. What is more, highland barley breads with SBF‐35 and SBF‐40 had preferable appearance and crumb texture. The study presented here deals with the manufacturing technologies of cooking pots in Iron Age II Judah (ca. 1000–586 BCE). Two aspects were studied on an assemblage of ca. 500 cooking pots: paste preparation with a highlight on temper analyses as well as fashioning and finishing techniques. The research is conducted as a part of a substantial multi-disciplinary study of cooking ware in Iron Age Judah, combining technological, typological, petrographic, and chemical aspects. New cooking pot types appeared during the Iron Age II, with the apparent existence of regional production centers for cooking pots in this period. The results indicate that the cooking pots were made following three technical groups, reflecting a stable technical and technological continuity alongside the rise of specialized production in various regional production centers. Temper analysis carried out through petrography shows a slow shift from calcite-calcareous tempering towards quartz tempering (which may be partly or entirely naturally present in the clay selected). These results will also be discussed in relation to the morphological typology of the vessels and petro-fabrics identified in the more extensive study. Resting on several analytical methods, this paper aims to characterize the cooking pot production system, thus providing insights into Iron Age Judah’s pottery craft organization. Background: Individuals learn in different ways and likely they express their strengths. Gardner's assertion, if everyone will have the same kind of mind and there would be just one type of intelligence, then we can teach everyone the same thing, in the same way; as well, we will assess them in the same way, and this would be fair. But, as soon as we understand that people have a variety of types of minds, different types of strengths, education, which treats everyone in the same way, is unfair education. Purpose: of this work is to give a definition and meaning to multiple intelligence and identify its implications in good manners and education. This article uses Richard Ligon's opening figure of clay pots found by colonizers on Barbados to develop a theory of the emblematic combustibility figured in the natural history he writes of the island. Clay pots need to be tempered to withstand firing, but, as Ligon states, colonizers don't have this knowledge of tempering, and the bricks they try to make to establish plantations keep exploding. I use the idea of this combustibility to trace various forms of multispecies violence inherent in the mono-cultural practices Ligon records. From racial slavery to ecocide to land dispossession, this violence registers in emblems that demonstrate an epistemological commitment to that violence, as well as the work of erasure and forgetting necessary for upholding the accumulation of wealth, power, and the fantasy of white innocence inherent in the history of the plantation complex. The intent of this statistical implication in the diamonds's galaxy is to pinpoint where will be placed in future the level of the global natural diamonds production, in other words if this level will be in regression. The diamonds have a lot of usages, such as: for to slice the rock, faiance and slate, for to gloss the rock, at making of the chips and hard disks in the computer's sector, for to create lens used at the equipment weared when the laser is maneuvered. A collection of pottery vessels uncovered during the first season of excavations in the Deh Dumen Bronze Age graveyard (the second half of the third millennium BC) located in south-western Iran were studied by using chemical, mineralogical and physical techniques, with the aim to identify the pottery manufacturing process in this region. The site is located in a region of the Zagros fold and thrust belt that includes carbonate rocks and alluvial deposits. The pottery vessels found in the site present two different fabric types in their fresh surface: bright yellowish hue fabric (TYPE-1) and sandwich-like or black core fabric (TYPE-2) showing presumably different production techniques or workshops. Twenty-four samples from pottery sherds were selected and analysed by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), polarized light microscopy (PLM), and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Hydric tests were also performed. Samples were different according to their chemistry having distinguished calcium-rich and calcium-poor ceramics. Al2O3 and Fe2O3 were detected as the other main components of samples besides SiO2 and CaO. The mineralogical and textural characterisation revealed a fine-grained clayey matrix with quartz and feldspar grains in TYPE-1 potteries and large and small calcitic and clayey lumps inclusions in TYPE-2 potteries. Imprints of straw or other plants can be responsible for the higher porosity of some of the potteries. It was found that most of the potteries from the Deh Dumen graveyard were produced by means of a local and traditional pottery manufacturing technique, whilst others may have been produced in different places and transported to the graveyard as ritual offerings. This study evaluated whether a theory‐based intervention in physical education (PE) designed to train self‐control may positively impact children's quick‐temperedness and disruptiveness and whether changes in executive functions (EFs) may be a correlate or antecedent of such effects. One hundred and sixteen children aged 8–9 years participated in a 2‐year intervention and completed three assessments at baseline, 6‐ and 18‐month follow‐ups in quick‐temperedness and disruptiveness, hot and cool EFs. After the intervention, children in the intervention group showed lower quick‐temperedness and disruptiveness and improvement in hot EF. Changes over the intervention period were moderately associated and showed marginal evidence of causal ordering, suggesting that designed PE may benefit self‐control through a possible linkage to hot EF improvement. Determination of rational drying modes of seed grain is related to the kinetics of the drying process and qualitative indicators. Changing the drying conditions affects the drying process duration, and also affects the seed germination. The mathematical processing of experimental data on the drying of rape seeds is based on experimental studies and the compilation of an experiment matrix based on three factors: the temperature and velocity of the heat carrier, the initial moisture content of the material. Selected variation levels or the boundary conditions of these factors are based on qualitative indicators, initial seed conditions before drying. Studies carried out on increasing the temperature of the coolant from 50° to 80°C increase the drying rate by 2.4 times, but reducing the germination of the material indicates the advisability of drying at 50°C. The obtained regression equations of duration and germination characterize the processes, proceeding from the effect of three factors with the exception from the equation of non-significant coefficients of the regression according to Stewdent's criterion. It also examines the adequacy of the mathematical model, that corresponds to the real object. Combining choirs for a large-scale performance can be rewarding. If the choirs comprise different generations, differing vocal timbres can add musical possibilities. A school in London operates two choirs in partnership: one for adult members of the school community and a student choir. They perform large-scale works together regularly. Interviews were undertaken with adults to understand their experience of the partnership. Frequently research explores students' engagement but rarely are the views of adults sought. Intergenerational music-making involves challenges such as participants working collaboratively and not in competition. Participants in this case study discuss the impact of singing in a choir with sons or grandsons and implications for family and community cohesion through music-making are explored. It has been widely believed that individuals transform high-intensity shame into anger because shame is unbearably painful. This phenomenon was first coined"humiliated fury," and it has since received empirical support. The current research tests the novel hypothesis that shame-related anger is not universal, yet hinges on the cultural meanings of anger and shame. Two studies compared the occurrence of shamerelated anger in North American cultural contexts (where shame is devalued and anger is valued) to its occurrence in Japanese contexts (where shame is valued and anger is devalued). In a daily-diary study, participants rated anger and shame feelings during shame situations that occurred over one week. In a vignette study, participants rated anger and shame in response to standardised shame vignettes that were generated in previous research by either U.S. or Japanese respondents. Across the two studies, and in line with previous research on humiliated fury, shame predicted anger for U.S. participants. Yet, neither in the daily diary study nor for the Japanese-origin vignettes, did we find shame-related anger in Japanese participants. Only when presented with U.S.-origin vignettes, did Japanese respondents in the vignette study report shame-related anger. Juxtaposing two distinct points in time - the inauguration of Performance Research (PR) at the Old Operating Theatre Museum in London and the political present haunted by the imminence of terror - this essay works against the grain of nostalgia to indicate how the temporalities of the present, past and future are enmeshed in volatile immediacies. While the first part of the essay deconstructs the deceptive conviviality of the early 1990s with premonitions of new forms of social disintegration in the post-Cold War, the second part focuses on the specific emotional register of fury to capture the temper of the times. Instead of a generalized reflection on fury, the essay opts to exhume the specters of terror in Elfriede Jelinek’s Wut (Fury) which responds tangentially to the Charlie Hebdo massacre, catalyzing different states of fury at personal, political and performative levels. How the ‘moment of fury’ gets ‘exhibited’ in Jelinek’s visceral, superfast, computerized act of writing counters any ‘reflection’ on ‘our times’ in a more philosophical register. The author’s response to Jelinek’s uninterrogated reflexes to terror takes the form of excerpts from a letter, written to Jelinek from Calcutta, which, in its own way, encapsulates another ‘moment of fury’ in a different space but which is nonetheless connected in time through the volatility of shared vulnerabilities. The work focuses on the potential of structural and chemical examinations by scanning electron microscopy based methods for archaeometric studies on ceramics. Achieved by a single preparation technique (polished block sections), the feasibility and benefits of electron backscatter diffraction are demonstrated as case studies using polychrome examples of pre‐Columbian pottery (Wari, Moche and Cajamarca). Elemental and phase maps allow for separate consideration of clay and temper. Identification of mineral phases and intergrowths of temper particles provide information for clarifying clay procurement and firing techniques with respect to local versus non‐local pottery to enlighten trade relations, technological transfer and shared heritage of pre‐Columbian cultures. Severe temper outbursts (STO) in children are associated with impaired school and family functioning and may contribute to negative outcomes. These outbursts can be conceptualized as excessive frustration responses reflecting reduced emotion regulation capacity. The anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) has been implicated in negative affect as well as emotional control, and exhibits disrupted function in children with elevated irritability and outbursts. This study examined the intrinsic functional connectivity (iFC) of a region of the ACC, the anterior midcingulate cortex (aMCC), in 5- to 9-year-old children with STO (n = 20), comparing them to children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) without outbursts (ADHD; n = 18). Additional analyses compared results to a sample of healthy children (HC; n = 18) and examined specific associations with behavioral and emotional dysregulation. Compared to the ADHD group, STO children exhibited reduced iFC between the aMCC and surrounding regions of the ACC, and increased iFC between the aMCC and precuneus. These differences were also seen between the STO and HC groups; ADHD and HC groups did not differ. Specificity analyses found associations between aMCC–ACC connectivity and hyperactivity, and between aMCC–precuneus iFC and emotion dysregulation. Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD) is a controversialDSM-5diagnosis. It is not known how DMDD symptoms vary by age and if differences are similar for autism, ADHD, and general population samples. Our study analyzed the two DMDD symptoms (irritable-angry mood and temper outbursts) in 1,827 children with autism or ADHD (with or without oppositional defiant disorder/ODD) and 657 general-population children 2–16 years of age. DMDD symptoms were rated by mothers on the Pediatric Behavior Scale. For all age groups, mean DMDD scores were less than sometimes a problem in the general population and ADHD-Inattentive (ADHD-I) samples, greater than sometimes but less than often a problem in autism and ADHD-Combined (ADHD-C), and greater than often a problem in children with autism or ADHD who also had ODD. DMDD symptoms were unrelated to age in children six and older. Preschool children with ADHD-C, ADHD-I, and ODD had more DMDD symptoms than school-age children, but DMDD symptoms did not differ by age in autism. Youth aggression is a serious global issue, but research identifying personality traits associated with aggression has focused on adults. Little is known about whether similar associations exist during adolescence; even less is known about these associations across cultures. This study examined links between personality and physical aggression in U.S. and Chinese adolescents, and tested whether temper mediates these associations. U.S. (N = 250) and Chinese (N = 199) young adolescents ( X ¯ age = 13.43 years) completed self-reports describing personality, temper, and aggression. Path analyses demonstrated that temper significantly mediated associations from agreeableness and neuroticism to aggression in both samples. The mediating effect of temper was marginally stronger in the Chinese sample than in the U.S. sample, suggesting temper plays a more important role in youth aggression in China than in the United States. Findings highlight the universal role of affect in aggression and demonstrate the importance of cultural context in understanding links between personality and youth aggression. Aristotle and others suggest that a single virtue – ‘good temper’ – pertains specifically to anger. I argue that if good temper is a single virtue, it is constituted by aspects of a combination of other virtues. I present three categories of anger-relevant virtues – those that (potentially) dispose one to anger; those that delay, mitigate, and qualify anger; and those required for effortful anger control – and show how virtues in each category make distinct contributions to good temper. In addition to clarifying the relationship between anger and the virtues, my analysis has theoretical implications for virtue individuation more generally, and practical implications for character cultivation. DSM-5 Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD) is a controversial new diagnosis. The DSM-5 conceptualizes DMDD as persistent and chronic, but the stability of the two DMDD symptoms (irritable-angry mood and temper outbursts) over time is not known. Mothers rated DMDD symptoms in a population-based sample of 376 children (54 % male) evaluated at 6-12 years (M 9) and again an average of 8 years later (M 16). Mean scores on irritable-angry mood plus temper outbursts at baseline and follow-up were below sometimes a problem, but were higher at baseline than follow-up. Irritable-angry mood and temper outbursts were both often or very often a problem for 9 % of children at baseline, 6 % at follow-up, and 3 % at baseline and follow-up. Only 29 % of children whose baseline symptoms were often or very often continued to have follow-up symptoms at this level (remission rate 71 %). Less than half (45 %) of the children whose symptoms were often or very often at follow-up had these symptoms 8 years earlier (55 % new cases). Our finding of 71 % remission and 55 % new cases indicates instability of DMDD symptoms over an 8-year period. However, the finding that 29 % still had symptoms often or very often 8 years later is clinically significant. DMDD symptoms were found in only one child who did not have symptoms of oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), conduct disorder, ADHD, anxiety, or depression. This suggests that DMDD symptoms are a feature of multiple disorders, particularly ODD, and do not occur in isolation, questioning the validity of DMDD as a unique and independent diagnosis. This article considers the practice of witness in the world—witness to the world—in particular the character and temper, nature and purpose, significance and resonance of “moral witness,” a kind of ideal type, as conceived by the philosopher Avishai Margalit. It proposes that the artist plays an important role as a moral witness and that the work of art itself performs the same function, even after the fact—the phenomenon of “postwitness.” In this context, it identifies an ethics of precision or exactitude and adduces a variety of exemplars, ranging from poetry to photography, including Shot at Dawn (2014), a suite of landscape photographs which are also war photographs and memorial photographs, and acts of moral witness, by Chloe Dewe Mathews. Anger and its treatment is a major issue in a variety of contexts, although it remains underexplored. In this study 10 young people completed semi-structured interviews and repertory grids. Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) and repertory grid analysis were conducted. Findings consistently indicated that anger is a more similar than different experience for participants within dialectical processes involving disempowering, empowering, and disengaging narratives that can be affected by positive personal and interpersonal phenomena and socially driven beliefs. Economic theory provides a textbook ideal for how to conduct efficiency analysis that determines optimal resource allocation. The real world is not, however, an ideal place. This article suggests that common sense should be allowed to temper zealous commitment to textbook ideals. Recent years have witnessed the tremendous growth of the online social media. In China, Weibo, a Twitter-like service, has attracted more than 500 million users in less than five years. Connected by online social ties, different users might share similar affective states. We find that the correlation of anger among users is significantly higher than that of joy. While the correlation of sadness is surprisingly low. Moreover, there is a stronger sentiment correlation between a pair of users if they share more interactions. And users with larger number of friends possess more significant sentiment correlation with their neighborhoods. Disruptive mood dysregulation disorder (DMDD), a newcomer to psychiatric nosology, addresses the need for improved classification and treatment of children exhibiting chronic nonepisodic irritability and severe temper outbursts. In recent years, many of these children have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, despite the lack of distinct mood episodes. This diagnostic practice has raised concerns, in part because of the escalating prescription of atypical antipsychotics. This article provides an overview of the limited literature on DMDD, including its history and relevant studies of assessment and treatment. We study a model in which agents experience anger when they see a firm that has displayed insufficient concern for the welfare of its clients (i.e., altruism) making high profits. Regulation can increase welfare, for example, through fines (even with no changes in prices). Besides the standard channel (i.e., efficiency), regulation affects welfare through two other channels. (i) Regulation calms down existing consumers, because a reduction in the profits of an unkind firm increases total welfare by reducing consumer anger. Mineralogical and geochemical results derived from analyses of the pottery ensemble documented in the Cave of Los Gitanos (Castro Urdiales, Spain) are presented in this paper. This site contains an archaeological deposit formed in the mid‐fifth millennium cal bc, which has yielded one of the oldest pottery assemblages in northern Spain. The analysis of the pottery remains has focused on both petrographic (thin‐section and XRD) and geochemical characterization (SEM–EDS) of samples selected after a macroscopic study. The mineralogical analysis has revealed procurement of raw materials from different sources, as well as different manufacturing processes. In addition, the petrographic analysis has shown different methods of manufacture, such as pottery tempered with calcite, limestone, ophite (ophitic dolerite) and grog, and fabrics with non‐modified clays. Variations observed between the oldest assemblage (Sub‐levels A4 and A3) and the most recent one (Sub‐level A2) suggest a modification in pottery‐making practices between the fifth and the third millennia cal bc.
