Knowledge in diagnostic radiology and performance of point-of-care ultrasound are integral to acute care nurse practitioners (ACNPs) in the inpatient settings, especially true in specialty areas such as interventional radiology and critical care. However, existing ACNP training programs, including at our institution, often lack robust relevant course content. To address this educational gap, we designed and implemented a pilot acute care radiology course, incorporating a flipped classroom approach and hands-on simulation activities led by expert faculty. Our course evaluation revealed high levels of student satisfaction, self-reported confidence, and perceived course effectiveness. The course aligns with key competencies outlined by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, demonstrating its potential to advance ACNP education in radiology content. Objective: To find out the exact accuracy of diagnosis of mammography for females presented with breast lump. Study Design: A cross-sectional observational study Place and Duration of Study: Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center, Karachi Pakistan, from Sep Dec 2021. Methodology: Total 210 female patients above 35 years of age, with breast lump presented in outpatient department of Jinnah postgraduate Medical Centre enrolled in this study. Out of 210 patients, 80 patients were provisionally diagnosed as benign breast lump i-e BIRADS I, II and III, and 130 as malignant i-e BIRADS IV, V, and VI were included on the basis of Mammography done from Radiology department. Trucut biopsy of the breast lump of more than 2cm and excision biopsy of the lump less than 2cm was done. Final diagnosis of histopathological report compared with provisional diagnosis. Results were noted on Performa and analyzed. Results: A total of 210 patients were enrolled in the study on the basis of mammography. Out of 210 patients, 130(61.9%) patients were considered as malignant and 80(38.1%) patients as benign lumps. Diagnostic accuracy of mammography was 96.19%, taking histopathology as standard investigation. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value, were 98.41%, 92.86%, 95.38%, and 97.50%, respectively. The article reports on a study of the risk factors for low-back pain among patients referred for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with special focus on whole-body vibration. The participants wherein 185 were professional drivers were asked about psychosocial factors and mental health. It showed that low-back pain was associated with poor mental health and occupational sitting. It also founds out that whole-body vibration was not an important cause of low-back pain among patients for MRI.

The pattern and distribution of periodontitis were investigated in 162 randomly selected dogs available for necropsy in veterinary practice. There were 82 males and 80 females of 50 different breeds (150 dogs were pure-bred and 12 were mongrels, aged between 7 months and 14 yr. Presence of periodontitis was determined by assessment of alveolar bone loss on radiographs of the skulls and jaws. Periodontitis occurred frequently with increasing age, although the prevalence varied markedly among and within different breeds. Of the breeds most represented in the sample, periodontitis was most frequently seen in poodles and dachshunds but was rarely recognized in German shepherd dogs. Regardless of age, the vast majority of the dogs displayed either one or both of two different radiographic patterns of alveolar bone loss. One pattern was characterized by slight, horizontal alveolar bone loss involving interradicular and interdental areas. The other pattern was one of predominantly crater-like, or narrow, vertical bone defects which, when advanced, often extended around a single root or tooth to surround the root apices. The two types of patterns did not seem to be breed-dependent. The posterior maxillary and mandibular premolars and molars were the most frequently affected teeth. Alveolar bone loss was most severe in the maxilla, while corresponding bone loss in the mandible was more often related to increasing age. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The quality of intraoral radiographic series consisting of 10 periapical and two posterior bitewing radiographs from 200 children were examined by six dentists. The radiographs were evaluated both without and, subsequently, with specified criteria. In the absence of specified criteria, no general agreement between the examiners was found when they were asked to state the quality of a radiograph. Using specified criteria much better agreement was obtained. The radiographic images of the maxillary and mandibular incisors were generally found acceptable using the criteria set up for the present study while the images of the canines, premolars and especially molars frequently were found unacceptable. Only a small proportion of the approximal surfaces on the posterior bitewings were found to be unreadable for caries of dentin while approximately 20% of the approximal surfaces were unreadable for caries of enamel. Approximately half the bitewing films had been placed wrongly in the mouth. Considering the available knowledge about prevalence of disease and anomalies in children of this age, quality of the radiographs, examiner variability and a possible harmful effect of radiography, screening with full-mouth intraoral radiographs in the actual age group does not seem to be justified in the population studied. Panoramic radiographs of 704 apparently healthy children aged 9-10 years were examined regarding anomalies and pathologic conditions in the maxillofacial area. Almost all findings were mesial to the molars. 1.7% of the children had a supernumerary tooth, 7.7% had hypodontia. Malposition of 631 permanent teeth was recorded. 42 dentigerous cysts were detected. Malformed crown or root was seen on 60 permanent teeth. Caries was found on 224 primary and 32 permanent teeth. 257 primary teeth showed atypical re-absorption, and 53 had a periapical inflammatory radiolucency. 20 retained roots of primary teeth were detected. 31 maxillary sinuses had an opacity.
