Magnetic reconnection is a fundamental process known to play a crucial role in electron acceleration and heating, however, the mechanism of electron energization during reconnection is still not fully understood. This study introduces a novel electron acceleration mechanism in which electrons can be accelerated by secondary reconnection in the separatrix region. The secondary reconnection occurs in a thin current sheet resulted from the shear of the out‐of‐plane Hall magnetic fields of the primary magnetopause reconnection. It results in the intense electron energy fluxes toward the primary X‐line. This mechanism will likely be an important piece in the puzzle of particle acceleration by reconnection. Whistler-mode waves have been extensively observed and investigated in terrestrial space. In this study, we present the dynamic response of whistler-mode waves to different solar wind conditions in the dayside terrestrial space based on Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) data. Statistical results show that the occurrence rate, amplitudes, and corresponding electron temperature anisotropy of whistler-mode waves increase with P sw in the dayside terrestrial space, which is attributed to the compression of magnetic fields in these magnetosheath and outer magnetosphere. Furthermore, whistler-mode waves under the southward interplanetary magnetic fields (IMFs) show a higher occurrence rate than that under the northward IMFs, mostly corresponding to T e ⊥/ T e ∥ > 1, and have a higher occurrence rate during quasi-radial IMFs. These results present that whistler-mode waves in these magnetosheath and outer magnetosphere are also modulated by the solar wind as clearly as the inner magnetosphere. Background: Objective measures of screen time are necessary to better understand the complex relationship between screen time and health outcomes. However, current objective measures of screen time (e.g., passive sensing applications) are limited in identifying the user of the mobile device, a critical limitation in children's screen time research where devices are often shared across a family. Behavioral biometrics, a technology that uses embedded sensors on modern mobile devices to continuously authenticate users, could be used to address this limitation. Objective: The purpose of this scoping review was to summarize the current state of behavioral biometric authentication and synthesize these findings within the scope of applying behavioral biometric technology to screen time measurement. Methods: We systematically searched five databases (Web of Science Core Collection, Inspec in Engineering Village, Applied Science & Technology Source, IEEE Xplore, PubMed), with the last search in September of 2022. Eligible studies were on the authentication of the user or the detection of demographic characteristics (age, gender) using built-in sensors on mobile devices (e.g., smartphone, tablet). Studies were required to use the following methods for authentication: motion behavior, touch, keystroke dynamics, and/or behavior profiling. We extracted study characteristics (sample size, age, gender), data collection methods, data stream, model evaluation metrics, and performance of models, and additionally performed a study quality assessment. Summary characteristics were tabulated and compiled in Excel. We synthesized the extracted information using a narrative approach. Results: Of the 14,179 articles screened, 122 were included in this scoping review. Of the 122 included studies, the most highly used biometric methods were touch gestures (n = 76) and movement (n = 63), with 30 studies using keystroke dynamics and 6 studies using behavior profiling. Of the studies that reported age (47), most were performed exclusively in adult populations (n = 34). The overall study quality was low, with an average score of 5.5/14. Conclusion: The field of behavioral biometrics is limited by the low overall quality of studies. Behavioral biometric technology has the potential to be used in a public health context to address the limitations of current measures of screen time; however, more rigorous research must be performed in child populations first. Arsenic (As) contamination of water can pose a significant threat to human health. Landoltia punctata is a superior water ecological restoration plant that can absorb As and thus manage the problem of As overload in the aquatic environment. Phytohormones play an important role in regulating plant growth and improving heavy metal resistance. In this study, the enrichment effect of phytohormones on As uptake and tolerance mechanism of L. punctata at different concentrations were investigated. The results showed that the application of Indolent-3-acetic (IAA), Abscisic acid (ABA) and Kinetin (KT) were all effective in increasing chlorophyll a (Ca) and carotenoid (Cc) contents. Low concentrations of phytohormones from 0.001 to 1 μmol·L-1 had a facilitative effect on fluorescence parameters in the order of IAA > ABA > KT. The application of high concentrations of phytohormones inhibited the fluorescence parameters. The application of 0.1 μmol·L-1 IAA, ABA and KT treatments were the most effective in promoting As uptake in L. punctata. The effect sequence of different plant hormone on As enrichment was: ABA > IAA ≥ KT. Low concentrations of IAA, ABA and KT treatments all significantly increased superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione reductase (GR) activities, significantly decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) and H2O2 contents and promoted proline synthesis in As-stressed L. punctata. This indicates that the application of phytohormones can improve the antioxidant activity of As-stressed L. punctata, promote the growth of L. punctata and improve its As absorption capacity. This study may provide a scientific basis for phytohormones to promote the remediation of As-contaminated waters by L. punctata, and can provide scientific basis for phytohormones to promote the remediation of Ascontaminated waters by L. punctata. To investigate the effect of various notch damages at the blade tip of a pressurized rotor blade on the aerodynamic performance, the repair margin of blade tip notch damage and obtaining its spacing in the wing polish in size is explored. Based on the Rotor 37, a model of a blade with a notch depth between 0–0.3 mm and 0.3–5 mm is obtained, and the calculation model of the single-pass aerodynamic performance before and after the damage is constructed. Numerical simulations of the full 3D viscous flow field are carried out for the design and near-surge conditions, and the data are compared and analysed. The following results are obtained: the mass flow rate increases with the notch depth; the pressure boosting capacity slightly increases and then significantly decreases when the notch depth exceeds 1 mm; the stability margin is lower than 15% after the tip notch damage exceeds 0.23 mm and decreases with the notch depth; and the tip notch does not significantly affect the aerodynamic performance of the intact blade section at the height under the notch. When the notch depth exceeds 0.23 mm, the blade starts to show a near-stall trend, and when the notch depth approaches 5 mm, it demonstrates the near-stall operating condition. Heavy metal pollution in soils has posed severe environmental threats to humans through various pathways due to their persistent and toxic nature. In the present study, a new cost-effective type of soil heavy metal solidification and stabilization reagent was synthesized and ratio-optimized, and applied in the remediation of the lead–zinc composite-contaminated soil, collected from the industrial region of Nanjing, China. The solidification/stabilization mechanism as well as the optimized conditions for the remediation of Pb and Zn from soil were also explored. In results, the stability analysis of single metal solidification after the solidifying reaction showed that the addition of a solidification stabilizer can greatly enhance the Pb/Zn precipitation efficiency. In the XRD analysis of the precipitation after a series of adsorption, precipitation, and co-precipitation processes, the precipitation contained an array of substances of quite low solubility and high stability. The orthogonal test analysis indicated that the optimal amount of the clay mineral material, industrial waste, and phosphate-based material was 3.2, 0.8, and 0.6 g, respectively, in the solution of 100 mL Pb and Zn ions, and the most suitable pH condition was alkaline. We present systematic investigation on texture evolution in nanocrystalline Ta under planar shock wave loading at different impact velocities. Seven representative initial textures and two loading directions are studied via large-scale molecular dynamics simulations. Orientation mapping and texture analysis, including orientation distribution functions, pole figures, and inverse pole figures, are performed. Shock compression induces a ⟨ 221 ⟩ texture in nanocrystalline Ta initially with no texture, ⟨ 100 ⟩ fiber texture, { 100 } ⟨ 100 ⟩ texture, and θ + γ rolling texture via twinning, which can be traced back to grains initially with ⟨ 100 ⟩. A ⟨ 100 ⟩ texture is induced via twinning for nanocrystalline Ta initially with no texture, ⟨ 110 ⟩ fiber texture, and α + γ rolling texture and can be traced back to ⟨ 110 ⟩. Dislocation slip and grain boundary sliding lead to the movement of ⟨ 110 ⟩ toward ⟨ 111 ⟩ , and the strengthening of ⟨ 100 ⟩ and ⟨ 111 ⟩ orientation densities. The generation of new textures is observed for most cases. However, no new texture is found in the ⟨ 111 ⟩ fiber texture case for shock loading parallel to the fiber, and a much slower elastic–plastic transition occurs due to the lack of deformation twinning. We investigate with large-scale molecular dynamics simulations texture evolution in nanocrystalline Cu under planar shock wave loading. The titanium and gallium co-doped zinc oxide (ZnO:Ti–Ga) transparent semiconductor films (TSFs) were synthesized via magnetron sputtering process. The dependence of electro-optical, structural, morphological and nonlinear optical (NLO) characteristics on sputtering power (Ps) was investigated by various characterize methods. The results demonstrate that all the TSFs present a wurtzite hexagonal crystal structure and [002]-preferred orientation. The Ps has a significant impact on the film properties of the ZnO:Ti–Ga TSFs. The sample fabricated at 180 W possesses the optimal electro-optical performance and crystalline quality, with the maximum figure of merit, highest mean visible transmittance, minimum resistivity, lowest dislocation density and lattice strain and of 1.13 × 104 Ω−1·cm−1, 86.9%, 6.25 × 10–4 Ω·cm, 1.49 × 1010 lines/cm2 and 6.98 × 10–4, respectively. Moreover, the optical constants of the ZnO:Ti–Ga TSFs were extracted by the optical spectrum fitting method. The dispersion behavior of refractive index was assessed. The optical energy gaps, oscillator parameters and NLO constants were obtained. The results demonstrate that the NLO constants are dependent upon the Ps and rise monotonically with increasing the photon energy for all the ZnO:Ti–Ga TSFs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper presents the magnetospheric multiscale (MMS) observations of three flux ropes (FRs) sequentially in a reconnection exhaust at Earth's magnetopause. Three active X‐lines, which are responsible for the formation of these FRs, were also detected by MMS, providing strong evidence that the FRs were generated by multiple X‐line reconnection. We find that the core field inside the FRs considerably affects the Hall current in the adjacent X‐lines. The intense core field of the FRs deflected the electron outflow jet, forming the electron‐scale Hall magnetic field on the magnetosheath side. Additionally, an active secondary reconnection was observed at the center of one FR. This secondary reconnection split the FR into two smaller FRs and produced sharp density gradients and intense fluctuations of electric field and current within the FR. These observations advance the understanding of the formation and evolution of FRs during multiple X‐line reconnection at magnetopause. Plain Language Summary: Flux transfer event (FTE) is generally explained as the flux rope (FR) generated by multiple X‐line reconnection at the dayside magnetopause. Although the theory and simulations have shown that the multiple active X‐lines and FRs can be produced simultaneously by the tearing instability in the magnetopause current sheet, there is no in‐situ evidence to directly support this scenario yet. Using high‐resolution measurements from the magnetospheric multiscale mission, we present a case study that all active X‐lines expected at the edges of three successive FRs were observed. These observations confirm that reconnection could simultaneously occur at multiple sites to produce the FRs at Earth's magnetopause. Interestingly, the electron‐scale Hall magnetic field was observed at the magnetosheath side in this multiple X‐line reconnection. This is due to the electron outflow jet deflected into the magnetosheath side by the strong core field of FR. Additionally, an ongoing secondary reconnection was observed at the center of one FR. Intense waves and current perturbations were observed in a smaller FR which was produced by this secondary reconnection. To promote the industrial application of lasers in the high precision or micromachining of carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites, this work explored a compromise process strategy for both machining quality and material removal efficiency. CFRP was cut and drilled by femtosecond pulses laser with the wavelength of 1030 nm. The effects of laser processing parameters such as pulse repetition frequency, pulse energy and power on the volume ablation rate, material removal efficiency, thermal damage and kerf taper angle were explored, and the related mechanism of infrared (IR) femtosecond laser processing CFRP was discussed. The parameters combination for IR femtosecond laser processing CFRP was determined, so that the efficiency, kerf quality and mechanical properties were qualified; namely, the repetition frequency of 100 kHz and pulse energy of 40 μJ. The tensile strength of processed samples reached 519.3 MPa, which was 10.5% higher than that of drilled samples. To observe the regulation of B-cell lymphoma-2 (Bcl-2)/Beclin 1 interaction through electroacupuncture (EA) intervention during reperfusion and to investigate the EA mechanism of apoptosis-autophagy interactive regulation against myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI). A total of 48 adult Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into the shamoperated group (group Sham), the model group (group Model), the EA group (group EA), and the JNK inhibitor (SP600125) group (group JNK), with 12 rats in each group. Biospecimens were collected randomly from six rats in each group four hours after reperfusion. Evans Blue and triphenyl tetrazolium chloride double-staining were applied to observe each group's myocardial damage area and risk area. We collected 4 ml of blood by abdominal aortic method to detect serum troponin cTnI level by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). For the remaining six in each group, a part of myocardial tissue below the ligation line was stored in 4% paraformaldehyde for immunohistochemistry and TUNEL staining; the other amount of myocardial tissue was detected by Western blotting to determine the expression levels of Bcl- 2, Beclin1, and the phosphorylation levels of Thr69, Ser70, and Ser87 in Bcl-2. In results: electroacupuncture (EA) intervention during reperfusion significantly reduced the myocardial infarction area, cTnI level, and myocardial apoptosis, upregulated Bcl-2 expression, downregulated Beclin 1 expression and inhibited phosphorylation levels of Thr69, Ser70, and Ser87 in Bcl-2. We concluded that EA effectively inhibited apoptosis by upregulating Bcl-2 expression and inhibiting the phosphorylation of Thr69, Ser70, and Ser87 in Bcl-2. This reduced the separation of Bcl-2 and Beclin 1, restrains excessive autophagy, alleviates MIRI, and has a protective effect on myocardial tissue. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The transparent conductive oxide (TCO) thin films of magnesium-titanium co-doped zinc oxide (MT-ZnO) were deposited on quartz substrates by magnetron sputtering. The growth temperature dependence of microstructural and physical properties of the deposited films was investigated by XRD, SEM, four-point probe, ultraviolet–visible spectrophotometer and optical characterization methods. Experimental results show that all the deposited films have a hexagonal wurtzite-type crystal structure and a [002]-preferred orientation. The MT-ZnO sample deposited at the growth temperature of 550 K exhibits the best crystal quality and optoelectronic properties, with the minimum lattice strain of 1.281 × 10–3, dislocation density of 4.857 × 1010 cm−2 and resistivity of 2.531 × 10–3 Ω∙cm, the highest average visible transmittance of 90.7% and the maximum figure of merit of 4.052 × 103 Ω−1∙cm−1. The optical constants of the deposited films were determined by the method of optical spectrum fitting. Meanwhile, the refractive index dispersion behavior was studied by means of the Wemple-DiDomenico (WDD) single-oscillator theory. The oscillator parameters and direct optical bandgaps were achieved. CHF3/Ar plasma was used to etch LiTaO3 crystal by inductively coupled plasma technology. The etched crystals under different process parameters were analyzed by surface profilometer and characterized by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscope. It was shown that ICP power, RIE power, and total gas flow rate had similar effects on etching rate and selectivity, while Ar/(Ar + CHF3) gas ratio had opposite effects on etching rate and selectivity, with better etching rate and selectivity at the ratio of 0.2. Rectangular orthogonal digital filter banks (ODFBs) based on square-root-raised-cosine (SRRC) functions are widely utilised to realise flexible and elastic multi-channel aggregations for fixed and mobile networks. However, long digital filter lengths are required to minimize digital filtering-associated signal distortions. In this paper, based on the extended Gaussian function (EGF), a novel rectangular ODFB with excellent robustness against the short digital filter length-induced truncation effect is proposed. Optimum digital filter parameters of the EGF-based ODFBs are identified and verified in multi-channel hybrid OFDM-digital filter multiple access (DFMA) PONs based on intensity modulation and direct detection (IMDD). By making use of the identified optimum digital filter parameters, extensive comparisons of digital filter characteristics and corresponding multi-channel upstream PON performances are made between the EGF-based ODFBs and the SRRC-based ODFBs. It is shown that to achieve a similar aggregated upstream signal transmission capacity, the EGF-based ODFB reduces the digital filter DSP complexity by a factor of 4. For a digital filter length as short as 8, in comparison with the SRRC-based ODFB, the EGF-based ODFB introduces >1.5 dB (>0.8 dB) improvements in upstream receiver sensitivity for 5-bits (8-bits) DACs/ADCs, increases the aggregated upstream signal transmission capacity by >5.5%, enlarges the ONU launch power dynamic range by >2.5 dB and improves the frequency offset tolerance by a factor of >1.5. Nanoparticles with different core@shell structures (NaGdF4:Yb/Tm@NaLnF4 with Ln=lanthanide) were successfully synthesized for luminescence upconversion from 980 nm to 800 nm. The upconversion luminescence of the core@shell nanoparticles (NaGdF4:Yb/Tm@NaGdF4) has a much stronger infrared emission centered at 800 nm than that of the core-only nanoparticles (NaGdF4:Yb/Tm). This is not only due to the removal of surface defects of the core nanoparticles by the shell, which results in the decrease of the luminescence quenching, but also due to the breaking of the crystal field symmetry around the Tm3+ ion. By replacing the NaGdF4 shell with an NaYF4, the emission could further be enhanced. We suggest that the breaking of the crystal field symmetry plays also in this case a key role for further enhancement of upconversion emission. The importance of this asymmetry was further revealed by investigating the energy transfer between Er3+ ion in the shell and the Tm3+ ion of the core nanoparticle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite a growing number of observations of whistler waves in/around the reconnection diffusion region, the origin of the whistler waves in the diffusion region and their role in reconnection remain elusive. This paper investigates the whistler‐mode waves within an electron‐scale reconnecting current sheet observed by the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission on 23 December 2016. These whistlers were observed in both the electron diffusion region (EDR) and the immediate inflow region of the electron‐scale magnetic reconnection site. The dispersion relation of these whistlers is measured and compared to predictions from linear theory for the first time in these regions. The comparison shows that the field‐aligned drifting electron component critically modifies the dispersion relation of whistlers in the EDR due to the Doppler‐shift effects. We demonstrate that these whistlers propagated into the EDR from outside rather than locally excited, however, they did not provide sufficiently large anomalous dissipation in this EDR. Whistler waves are frequently observed in various areas of magnetic reconnection, for example, outflow region, separatrix region, and diffusion region. Here, we present an observation of whistler waves in the EDR and the inflow region of magnetic reconnection. These whistler waves originate from the outside and propagate into the vicinity of the reconnection site. We measured the dispersion relation of these whistler waves for the first time within these regions and compare it with the dispersion relations predicted by linear theory. The results indicate that the effects from the drift velocity of electrons play a key role in modifying the dispersion relation of these whistlers in the EDR. Additionally, we find that these whistlers did not provide effective anomalous dissipation in this EDR. These results advance our knowledge of the source and features of whistlers in the vicinity of the reconnection site. Randomized clinical trials (RCTs) have often been considered as the gold standard in drug development, but they may not be fully powered due to limited patient population and can even lead to ethical concerns in rare disease studies. In situations like this, real-world data (RWD)/historical data can be utilized to augment or possibly serve as the control arm for the current trial. If a subset of subjects from the RWD/historical trial could be matched to the concurrent control arm subjects and they are deemed comparable following certain criteria, then pooling the matched subjects from the historical control arm and the concurrent control arm can boost the power. In this paper, we propose two matching methods of borrowing historical control data that not only balance key observed baseline covariates but also ensure the comparability of responses between the historical and concurrent controls. Close similarity in response variables among controls reduces Type I error inflation and provides further protection against unmeasured confounding bias, which is a major challenge in using RWD. Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the empirical performance of the two matching methods in terms of Type I error rate and power, and an illustrative description of a planned study is presented. In PON-based mobile fronthauls, direct inter-ONU communications without passing end-user traffic to the OLT offer a promising solution for fulfilling the stringent latency and bandwidth requirements of 5G and beyond networks. In this paper, with slight modifications to the PON remote node, a concurrent inter-ONU and upstream communication technique is proposed and experimentally demonstrated in 101.6Gbit/s multipoint-to-point hybrid SSB OFDM digital filter multiple access (DFMA) IMDD PONs over 25km SSMFs. Multiple gapless inter-ONU and upstream SSB signals are aggregated by digital orthogonal filtering in each ONU transmitter. A single FFT operation is applied for demultiplex and demodulation in the OLT/ONU receivers. The results show that for both the inter-ONU and upstream transmissions, the optimum length of digital filters is 32, based on which the power penalties due to the fiber transmission and ONU channel interference are <1dB and <2dB, respectively. For the inter-ONU communications, adaptive RF spectral assignments can effectively mitigate the Rayleigh and Brillouin backscattering effects and the upstream channel fading effect, thus giving rise to >30% improvements in aggregated signal transmission capacity. In addition, detailed experimental investigations are also undertaken of the trade-off between differential ONU optical launch power dynamic range and aggregated signal transmission capacity. Summary: lncRNAs play crucial roles in fat metabolism in animals. Previously, we have compared the mRNA transcriptome profiles between seven fat‐type Chinese pig breeds and one lean‐type Western breed (Yorkshire, YY). The associations between differentially expressed (DE) genes and phenotypical traits were investigated. In the present study, to further explore the underlying regulatory mechanisms, lncRNAs were sequenced and compared between YY and Chinese indigenous breeds. The results showed 9114 and 7538 DE lncRNAs between at least one Chinese breed and the YY breed in the adipose and muscle tissue respectively. KEGG enrichment analysis revealed that the target genes of these DE lncRNAs mainly influenced the glucolipid metabolism, which is an important process affecting meat quality. Correlation analyses between the DE lncRNA and DE mRNA genes related to meat quality and growth traits were performed. The results showed that LTCONS_00073280 was associated with intramuscular fat content. Four lncRNAs (LTCONS_00101781, LTCONS_00037879, LTCONS_00088260 and LTCONS‐00128343) might mediate backfat thickness. Acid rain is a serious environmental problem and has obvious impacts on the growth, reproduction, and photosynthesis of terrestrial plants. Ulva prolifera, a main blooming species of green tides, was studied on its physiological response to acid rain. The photosynthetic parameters were determined under different conditions (salinity: 1, 10, 30‰; pH: 3.0, 3.5, 4.5; duration: 0.5, 1.0, 2.0 h) followed by 24-h recovering under natural conditions. Results showed 1-h treatment with pH 3.5 caused 50-70% reduction in the maximal quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (Fv/Fm) and effective quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (ФPSII) at normal salinity but when the low pH was combined with a salinity of 10‰ or lower, PSII activity was almoction under low pH (3.5) conditions. Finally, we speculated if the pH of acid rain ≤ 3.5, with 1‰ salinity and 2-h rainfall time, the amount of U. prolifera and the scale of green tides would decreast completely inhibited. CHF3/Ar plasma was used to etch LiTaO3 crystal by inductively coupled plasmas technique. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy was performed to investigate the etching mechanism. It was found that chemical reactions had occurred between the F plasma and the Li and Ta metal species, forming the corresponding fluorides. Some fluorides are nonvolatile, and remained on the surface during the etching period. In order to get higher etching rate, it is important to remove these metal fluorides. Solar filaments are cold and dense materials situated in magnetic dips, which show distinct radiation characteristics compared to the surrounding coronal plasma. They are associated with coronal sheared and twisted magnetic field lines. However, the exact magnetic configuration supporting a filament material is not easy to ascertain because of the absence of routine observations of the magnetic field inside filaments. Since many filaments lie above weak-field regions, it is nearly impossible to extrapolate their coronal magnetic structures by applying the traditional methods to noisy photospheric magnetograms, in particular the horizontal components. In this paper, we construct magnetic structures for some filaments with the regularized Biot–Savart laws and calculate their magnetic twists. Moreover, we make a parameter survey for the flux ropes of the Titov–Démoulin-modified model to explore the factors affecting the twist of a force-free magnetic flux rope. It is found that the twist of a force-free flux rope, , is proportional to its ratio of axial length to minor radius, L/a, and is basically independent of the overlying background magnetic field strength. Thus, we infer that long quiescent filaments are likely to be supported by more twisted flux ropes than short active-region filaments, which is consistent with observations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Sargassum horneri (Turner) C. Agardh is a genus of brown algae and plays an important role in marine ecosystem. However, the inhabiting area of S. horneri has been decreasing sharply in China. To understand the photoacclimation and photoregulation strategies of S. horneri in responses to temperature and light, S. horneri was cultured under different temperatures [18°C (LT) and 26°C (HT)] and light intensities [60 µmol(photon) m-2 s-1 (LL) and 120 µmol(photon) m-2 s-1 (HL)] for 7 d, and then the chlorophyll a fluorescence parameters were measured. The results showed that the maximum electron transfer rate occurred at low temperature and high light (LT-HL) condition. The high temperature was the predominant factor for causing inhibition of PSII, lowering the effective quantum yield of PSII, and reducing the nonphotochemical quenching (NPQ). However, high light could improve the photoprotective ability via enhancing the NPQ. On the other hand, a strong linear relationship was observed between NPQ and the electron transport efficiency (a); the increase of NPQ could reduce the a value and avoid damage from high light stress to PSII. The analytical solution of the bending problem for a clamped rectangular plate with a variable in-plane stiffness is found by using the method of superposition. The flexural rigidity of the plate varies across its width according to an exponential function. First, the analytical solution for a simply supported rectangular plate with a variable in-plane stiffness is obtained, and then the bending problem for the plate clamped at its four edges is solved analytically by the superposition of one simply supported plate under the transverse load and two simply supported plates under pure bending. The influence of the variable in-plane stiffness, aspect ratio, and different boundary conditions on the deflection and bending moment is studied by numerical examples. Magnetic reconnection and turbulence are the two most important energy dissipation processes in plasma. These two processes intertwine with each other and play important roles in their respective dynamic evolution. Here, we present the first evidence that secondary reconnections occur in the turbulent outflow driven by a primary reconnection in the Earth's magnetotail. We have identified 14 secondary reconnections in a large number of current filaments in the turbulent outflow, which persisted for about one and half an hour. Most of these secondary reconnections were electron‐only reconnection that has recently been discovered in the magnetosheath. These secondary reconnections entangled the magnetic field lines and dissipated the magnetic energy in the outflow region far away from the primary X line. We investigate whistler‐mode waves and broadband electrostatic waves (EWs) within an ion diffusion region (IDR) at the magnetopause. The quasi‐parallel whistlers are observed in the separatrix regions associated with the electron anisotropy or loss cone, while the oblique whistlers, the Buneman‐type waves, and the oblique EWs are observed in the center of the current sheet associated with the accelerated electron or ion beams. The whistlers are linked with Buneman‐type waves by the electron Pacman distribution rather than the wave‐wave process. The accelerated cold electron beams excite the Buneman‐type instabilities and make the anisotropy or loss cone of hot electrons less apparent, which led to the conversion of the whistlers from quasi‐parallel to oblique. Additionally, the oblique EWs are associated with the ion beams produced by the multiple X‐line reconnection. These results provide a further understanding of the relation between plasma waves and plasma kinetics in the IDR. The ability to identify erroneous depth estimates is of fundamental interest. Information regarding the aleatoric uncertainty of depth estimates can be, for example, used to support the process of depth reconstruction itself. Consequently, various methods for the estimation of aleatoric uncertainty in the context of dense stereo matching have been presented in recent years, with deep learning-based approaches being particularly popular. Among these deep learning-based methods, probabilistic strategies are increasingly attracting interest, because the estimated uncertainty can be quantified in pixels or in metric units due to the consideration of real error distributions. However, existing probabilistic methods usually assume a unimodal distribution to describe the error distribution while simply neglecting cases in real-world scenarios that could violate this assumption. To overcome this limitation, we propose two novel mixed probability models consisting of Laplacian and Uniform distributions for the task of aleatoric uncertainty estimation. In this way, we explicitly address commonly challenging regions in the context of dense stereo matching and outlier measurements, respectively. To allow a fair comparison, we adapt a common neural network architecture to investigate the effects of the different uncertainty models. However, the three‐dimensional effect to reconnection remains poorly known. Recent numerical simulations have shown that three‐dimensional evolution is more complex than two‐dimensional in that reconnection occurs in multiple sites that are not necessarily in the primary neutral current sheet. Here, we present the first observational evidence for localized secondary reconnection at the separatrix surface of a magnetic flux rope (MFR). When face-centered cubic (FCC) metals and alloys with low stacking fault energy (SFE) are irradiated by high-energy particles or deformed at high speed, stacking fault tetrahedra (SFTs), which are a type of vacancy cluster defect, are often formed. Therefore, SFTs were expected to form in the CoCrFeMnNi equiatomic high-entropy alloy (HEA). However, no SFT was observed in the CoCrFeMnNi HEA with high-speed plastic deformation even after annealing at 873 K. To elucidate this mechanism, the binding energy of vacancy clusters in the CoCrFeMnNi HEA was calculated based on first principles. The binding energy of the di-vacancy cluster was positive (average of 0.25 eV), while that of the tri-vacancy cluster was negative (average of − 0.44 eV), suggesting that the possibility of formation of a tri-vacancy cluster was low. The inability to form a cluster containing three vacancies is attributed to the excellent irradiation resistance of the CoCrFeMnNi HEA. However, if an extra vacancy is added to a tri-vacancy cluster (with negative binding energy), the binding energy of the subsequent tetra-vacancy cluster may become positive. In this first effort, a partially-debonded circular inclusion in a one-dimensional quasicrystal material with piezoelectric effect is studied. This mixed boundary value problem of a circular interface crack is reduced to solving three Riemann–Hilbert problems with the use of analytical continuation theory. The crack-tip singularity of the circular interface crack is investigated and the intensity factors of the stresses in the phonon and the phason fields and electric displacements are derived explicitly. Some particular cases are provided to show the effect of the crack angle, material properties and loadings on the field singularities at the tips of the circular interface crack. Nonisothermal densification in 8% yttria doped zirconia (8YSZ) particulate matter of 250 nm median particle size was studied under 215 V/cm dc electric field and 9 °C/min heating rate, using time-resolved in-situ high temperature energy dispersive x-ray diffractometry with a polychromatic 200 keV synchrotron probe. Densification occurred in the 876-905 °C range, which resulted in 97% of the theoretical density. No local melting at particle-particle contacts was observed in scanning electron micrographs, implying densification was due to solid state mass transport processes. The maximum current draw at 905 °C was 3 A, corresponding to instantaneous absorbed power density of 570 W/cm3. Densification of 8YSZ was accompanied by anomalous elastic volume expansions of the unit cell by 0.45% and 2.80% at 847 °C and 905 °C, respectively. The anomalous expansion at 905 °C at which maximum densification was observed is characterized by three stages: (I) linear stage, (II) anomalous stage, and (III) anelastic recovery stage. The densification in stage I (184 s) and II (15 s) was completed in 199 s, while anelastic relaxation in stage III lasted 130 s. The residual strains ([variant_greek_epsilon]) at room temperature, as computed from tetragonal (112) and (211) reflections, are [variant_greek_epsilon](112) = 0.05% and [variant_greek_epsilon](211) = 0.13%, respectively. Time dependence of (211) and (112) peak widths (β) show a decrease with both exhibiting a singularity at 905 °C. An anisotropy in (112) and (211) peak widths of {β(112)/β(211)} = (3:1) magnitude was observed. No phase transformation occurred at 905 °C as verified from diffraction spectra on both sides of the singularity, i.e., the unit cell symmetry remains tetragonal. We attribute the reduction in densification temperature and time to ultrafast ambipolar diffusion of species arising from the superposition of mass fluxes due to Fickian diffusion, thermodiffusion (Soret effect), and electromigration, which in turn are a consequence of a superposition of chemical, temperature, and electrical potential gradients. On the other hand, we propose defect pile-up at particle-particle contacts and subsequent tunneling as a mechanism creating the 'burst-mode' discontinuous densification at the singularities observed at 847 and 905 °C. Hypereutectic 0.8MgO-0.2Y2O3 nanocomposites were studied using high pressure and high temperature in situ synchrotron energy dispersive x-ray diffractometry at 5.5 GPa and 1273 K. Polymorphic transformations in the Y2O3 phase, which resulted in a quadruple phase equilibria among cubic, hexagonal, and monoclinic phases with cubic MgO, were observed at 298 K under 5.5 GPa-a pressure much smaller than the pressures at which polymorphic transitions in macroscopic Y2O3. Time-resolved diffractometry at (1273 K, 5.5 GPa, 120 min) revealed a 0.87% expansive volumetric lattice strain in MgO, and is attributed to solid solution formation with Y2O3 which is otherwise absent at ambient conditions. The residual MgO unit cell volume expansion is 0.69% at 298 K, which is indicative that yttrium remained in solid solution. The macroscopic shrinkage due to densification at (1273 K, 5.5 GPa, 120 min) is 3.45% by volume. The partial molar volume of Y3+ in the solid solution is smaller than its molar volume in the pure state per thermodynamic considerations. The importance of repulsion among O2- ions in the immediate vicinity of a Mg2+ vacancy as well as misfit strain due to differences in ionic radii upon Y3+ substitution on Mg2+ sites is presented. A self-consistent model and explanation for the observed concomitant occurrence of cubic → monoclinic and cubic → hexagonal polymorphic transitions in Y2O3 and their stabilization at room temperature is proposed. In this paper, the pressure (P) and shear vertical (SV) wave propagation in the periodically layered fluid and piezoelectric structure are theoretically studied. A single piezoelectric layer is first analyzed for three scenarios: piezoelectricity-ignored, electrically open, or electrically closed. It is observed that both the Lamb wave dispersion curves and the transmission coefficients are affected by piezoelectricity and electrical boundary conditions under any incident angle. From the analyses of the periodically layered structure, it is further found that the piezoelectricity and the electrical boundary conditions have influence on band gaps for a given incident angle. Background: The prognosis of patients with biliary atresia (BA) after Kasai portoenterostomy (KPE) varies, and precisely predicting the outcomes of KPE before surgery is still challenging.Methods: A total of 158 patients who underwent KPE in our hospital were included in this study. The patients in the training cohort were recruited from January 2012 to October 2017 (n = 118), and then, those in the validation cohort were recruited from November 2017 to April 2019 (n = 40). Combined nomogram models were developed based on two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D SWE) values and other biomarkers. The utility of the proposed models was evaluated by C-index.Results: 2D SWE played a potentially important role in predicting native liver survival (NLS) of BA patients with a C-index of 0.69 (0.63 to 0.75) in the training cohort and 0.76 (0.67 to 0.85) in the validation cohort. The nomogram A based on 2D SWE values, age, gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) and aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio (APRI) had a better C-index in the training cohort [0.74 (0.68-0.80) vs. 0.66 (0.60-0.73), P = 0.017] and in the validation cohort [0.78 (0.70-0.86) vs. 0.60 (0.49-0.71), P = 0.002] than the nomogram B (without 2D SWE). Using risk score developed from nomogram A, we successfully predicted 88.0% (22/25) of patients in the training cohort and 75.0% (9/12) in the validation cohort to have survival time of less than 12 months after KPE.Conclusion: The combined nomogram model based on 2D SWE values, age, GGT and APRI prior to KPE can effectively predict NLS in BA infants. We report a Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission observation of magnetic reconnection occurring at the edge of a large‐scale magnetic flux rope (MFR), the cross‐section of which was about 2 RE. The MFR was observed at the duskside in the Earth's magnetotail and was highly oblique with its axis approximately along the XGSM direction. We find an electron‐scale current sheet near the edge of this MFR. The Hall magnetic and electric field, super‐Alfvénic electron outflow, parallel electric field, and positive energy dissipation were observed associated with the current sheet, which indicates that MMS detected a reconnecting current sheet with a large guide field. Interestingly, ions were not coupled in this reconnection, akin to the electron‐only reconnection observed in the turbulent magnetosheath. We further find that the electron‐only reconnection is commonly associated with a macroscopic MFR. This result will shed new light on understanding the multiscale coupling associated with an MFR in space plasmas. A Fe-based multi-component alloy, 60Fe-12Cr-10Mn-15Cu-3Mo, which presents higher yield stress than typical stainless steels (such as 304, 316, and 340), was used to investigate the thermal stability of irradiation-induced defects. Neutron irradiation was carried out at approximately 323 and 643 K using up to 1.3 × 10−3 and 4.5 × 10−4 dpa (displacements per atom), respectively. While no defects were accumulated at the high temperature of 643 K, single vacancies were formed after irradiation at the low temperature of 323 K to 1.3 × 10−3 dpa, and the vacancies became mobile at 423 K. As a result, vacancy clusters were formed. However, as the annealing temperature increased the size of vacancy clusters decreased. Coincidence Doppler broadening measurements indicated that Cu precipitates were the sites of vacancy cluster formation, and the recovery of vacancy clusters became prominent while annealing the irradiated sample at temperatures higher than 423 K. Recovery of vacancy clusters at 573 K, which was not a high temperature, was also observed even in the sample that was irradiated using 2.5 MeV Fe ions at room temperature to 0.6 dpa at damage peak. In order to investigate the interactive effects of simulated acid rain and copper (Cu) on macroalgae, Sargassum horneri was cultured under pH of 8.2, 5.6, 4.5 and Cu concentrations of 0, 25, 100 µg L-1. Under the medium concentration of Cu, moderate pH mitigated the toxicity of Cu on S. horneri, while the low pH and high Cu concentration reduced the contents of chlorophyll (Chl) a and carotenoids. Furthermore, pH had no interaction with Cu on maximal Chl fluorescence or electron transport efficiency, while effective PSII quantum yield, maximum electron transport rate, and saturating irradiance were obviously affected by pH and Cu, and the interactive effects were significant. Additionally, with the increasing Cu concentration and decreasing pH, nonphotochemical quenching and regulated energy dissipation dropped sharply, while nonregulated energy dissipation increased. Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major public health issue with serious medical consequences. The roles of microRNAs (miRNAs) in HBV replication and expression have been generally recognized, and the abnormal expression of miR-501 has been reported in patients with HBV infection. However, the function and mechanism in HBV replication remain elusive. The expression patterns of miR-501-3p and ZEB2 in HBV-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues and HBV-expressing HCC cells were determined by qRT-PCR and western blot assays. HBV replication and expression were evaluated through detecting the copies of HBV DNA and the secretion of HBV surface antigens HBsAg and HBeAg by real-time PCR and ELISA analyses. Bioinformatics and dual-luciferase reporter analyses were employed to validate the functional interaction between miR-501-3p and ZEB2. miR-501-3p was significantly upregulated, while ZEB2 was downregulated in HBV-related HCC tissues and cells compared with relative controls without HBV infection. Knockdown of miR-501-3p hampered HBV replication and gene expression in HepG2.2.15 and HepAD38 cells. ZEB2 was identified as a functional target of miR-501-3p. The absence of ZEB2 abolished the inhibitory effects of anti-miR-501-3p on HBV replication and gene expression. Our data indicated that miR-501-3p participated in the regulation of HBV replication and gene expression partially via repressing ZEB2 in HepG2.2.15 and HepAD38 cells, providing a promising antiviral avenue for HBV infection. Recent technological advancement in flexographic printing has allowed flexography to catch up with other R2R processes such as gravure printing in the printed electronics field. However, there are many process parameters involved in flexography that can affect the print quality. This work attempted to achieve finer line printing compared to the current 45–100 µm printed line width range of flexography by manipulating and studying these process parameters. A design of experiments was conducted to investigate the influence and interaction of various process parameters such as anilox volume, anilox force and printing force on the printed line width. After identifying the key process parameter from the design of experiments, another in-depth study of the key process parameter was conducted to further investigate how printed line width was affected. The results showed that the printing plate was elastically deformed with a range of 50–400 N printing forces. Beyond the 400-N printing force, the printing plate experienced plastic deformation. High‐speed railway (HSR) is becoming one of the most effective and important transportation modes. To ensure the safety of HSR, a stable communication system is necessary. The understanding of propagation characteristics of radio channel is important for HSR communication system design. In this paper, a wideband measurement in suburban HSR scenarios at 460 MHz is presented. Some typical channel parameters such as the large‐scale fading, Ricean K factor, power‐delay profile, and root‐mean‐square delay spread are extracted from the measurement data. The different distributions of small‐scale fading are also compared. The relationships between the channel parameters and the distance of transmitter (base station) and receiver are also explored. The results could provide a reference for the design and evaluation of HSR communication network, especially for the Long‐Term‐Evolution (LTE)‐railway system. Rumen-protected betaine (RPB) can enhance betaine absorption in the small intestine of ruminants, while betaine can alter fat distribution and has the potential to affect the meat quality of livestock. Hence, we hypothesized that RPB might also affect the meat quality of lambs. Sixty male Hu sheep of similar weight (30.47 ± 2.04 kg) were selected and randomly subjected to five different treatments. The sheep were fed a control diet (control treatment, CTL); 1.1 g/day unprotected-betaine supplemented diet (UPB); or doses of 1.1 g/day (low RPB treatment; L-PB), 2.2 g/day (middle RPB treatment; M-PB) or 3.3 g/day (high RPB treatment; H-PB) RPB-supplemented diet for 70 days. Slaughter performance, meat quality, fatty acid and amino acid content in the longissimus dorsi (LD) muscle, shoulder muscle (SM) and gluteus muscle (GM) were measured. Compared with CTL, betaine (including UPB and RPB) supplementation increased the average daily weight gain (ADG) (P < 0.05) and average daily feed intake (P < 0.01) of lambs. Rumen-protected betaine increased ADG (P < 0.05) compared with UPB. With increasing RPB doses, the eye muscle area of the lambs linearly increased (P < 0.05). Compared with CTL, betaine supplementation decreased water loss (P < 0.05) in SM and increased pH24 in the SM (P < 0.05) and GM (P < 0.05). Compared with UPB, RPB decreased water loss in the GM (P < 0.01), decreased shear force (P < 0.05) in the LD and SM and increased the pH of the meat 24 h after slaughter (pH 24 ). With increasing RPB doses, the shear force and b* value in the LD linearly decreased (P < 0.05), and the pH24 of the meat quadratically increased (P < 0.05). Compared with CTL, betaine supplementation increased the polyunsaturated fatty acid in the GM (P < 0.05). Compared with UPB, RPB supplementation decreased the saturated fatty acid (SFA) content in the LD (P < 0.05) and increased the unsaturated fatty acids (UFA), mono-unsaturated fatty acids and UFA/SFA ratio in the LD (P < 0.05). Compared with CTL, the content of histidine in the LD increased with betaine supplementation. Compared with UPB, RPB supplementation increased the content of total free amino acids and flavor amino acids in the LD of lambs (P < 0.05). With increasing RPB, the isoleucine and phenylalanine contents in the LD linearly increased (P < 0.05). Overall, the data collected indicated that the meat quality of lambs (especially in the LD) improved as a result of betaine supplementation, and RPB showed better effects than those of UPB. In this work, a giant exchange bias field of over 1 kOe, which is uncommon in film systems, is obtained in all-3d-metal Heusler-type Ni38.8Co2.9Mn37.9Ti20.4 thin films. The thermomagnetic curves show an unambiguous noncoincidence between zero-field-cooled and field-cooled protocols, indicating the presence of magnetically inhomogeneous phases in the film in the low temperature range. Magnetic measurements, including magnetic relaxation and magnetic memory effects, demonstrate that the exchange bias should be attributed to the exchange interaction between ferromagnetic clusters and the antiferromagnetic host in the Ni38.8Co2.9Mn37.9Ti20.4 thin film at low temperature. The local Mn-Co-Mn configuration provides the ferromagnetic contribution, which is formed in the antiferromagnetic Heusler main phase due to the small amount of Co-substitution for Ni. The achievement of the large exchange bias effect in the Ni38.8Co2.9Mn37.9Ti20.4 thin film is a significant addition to the existing multiple magneto-responsive effects in all-3d-metal Ni-Mn-based Heusler systems.
