A new sesquiterpenoid, chaenomelesterpenoid A (1), and a new norisoprenoid, chaenomelesterpenoid B (2), were isolated from the fruits of Chaenomeles sinensis (Thouin) Koehne. Their structures were determined by NMR spectroscopy and MS. In addition, the protective effects of the compounds were tested against corticosterone-induced damage in PC-12 cells using real-time cellular analysis (RTCA). Compounds 1 and 2 significantly improved cell viability and corticosterone-induced damage in PC-12 cells with EC50 values of 15.7 and 12.6 μM, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An overall Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramics (LTCC) package solution for X-band T/R module has been presented in this paper. This tile type package contributes to a dramatic reduction in size and weight of the T/R module. Moreover, an obvious merit of ceramic housing is better consistency of Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE), compared with the traditional combination of ceramic board and metal housing. The schematic diagram and 3-D structure of the T/R module have been presented and a novel vertical interconnection based on Ball Grid Array (BGA) has been proposed to connect vias in the lid and those in the stage of the main LTCC pan. The LTCC T/R module has been fabricated and measured. It is compact in size (20 x 20 x 2.6 mm³) and has a weight of 3.5 g. The measured transmit output power is 33 ± 1 dBm in the frequency range from 8.8 GHz to 10.4 GHz, and the measured receive gain and Noise Figure are 29-30.5 dB and 2.6-2.8 dB, respectively. Craniofacial defects that occur through gene mutation during development increase vulnerability to eustachian tube dysfunction. These defects can lead to an increased incidence of otitis media. We examined the effects of a mutation in the Sh3pxd2b gene (Sh3pxd2bnee) on the progression of otitis media and hearing impairment at various developmental stages. We found that all mice that had the Sh3pxd2bneemutation went on to develop craniofacial dysmorphologies and subsequently otitis media, by as early as 11 days of age. We found noteworthy changes in cilia and goblet cells of the middle ear mucosa in Sh3pxd2bnee mutant mice using scanning electronic microscopy. By measuring craniofacial dimensions, we determined for the first time in an animal model that this mouse has altered eustachian tube morphology consistent with a more horizontal position of the eustachian tube. All mutants were found to have hearing impairment. Expression of TNF-a and TLR2, which correlates with inflammation in otitis media, was up-regulated in the ears of mutant mice when examined by immunohistochemistry and semi-quantitative RT-PCR. A compact microstrip patch annular array is proposed to excite the TE01 (TE, transverse electric) high‐order mode in circular waveguide. This annular array is composed of four microstrip patches which are laid and fed rotationally. The electromagnetic simulation software, high‐frequency structure simulator is used to model the electric field radiated by the annular array. It is found that the electric field is turbulent and according to the performance of the TE01 mode. A wireless transmitting and receiving experiment is carried out in a long steel hollow pipe to prove the existence of the TE01 mode. In this experiment, the transmit–receive antenna is selected as the proposed annular array and dipole antenna.
