BACKGROUND: The delayed drying of newly harvested tiger nuts can lead to mold and rancidity. Timely drying is therefore important. However, few studies have analyzed the impact of hot‐air drying on the quality of tiger‐nut oil and starch, making it essential to establish optimal drying conditions. RESULTS: The results showed that the drying temperature was the most important factor affecting the drying speed, followed by drying airflow rate and loading capacity. A logarithmic model can describe the hot‐air drying process of tiger nuts. The oil yield of tiger nut was highest after drying at 60 °C, reaching 22.40%. Meanwhile, the starch extracted from after drying at 60 °C had the highest solubility and expansion rate, 4.77% and 9.74%, respectively. Starch has the highest viscosity after drying at 70 °C, and it forms gel easily after aging. CONCLUSION: High‐quality tiger nuts should be produced under optimal conditions: a hot‐air drying temperature of 60 °C, an airflow rate of 1.0 m s−1, and a loading capacity of 100 g. Resistance to chemotherapy is a significant concern in the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), and occurs due to various mechanisms. This study is aimed to evaluate the effects of RING finger protein 138 (RNF138) in the development of cisplatin resistance to NPC. After gene overexpression and silencing, the expression levels of RNF138 were evaluated. The impacts of RNF138 on the proliferation and apoptosis rate of NPC cells were then assessed. γ-H2AX-mediated DNA damage was determined via immunofluorescence assay. Moreover, a tumor xenograft mouse model was developed to investigate the role of RNF138 on NPC progression in vivo. Additionally, transcriptome analysis was performed in 5–8 F cells transfection with OE-RNF1138 or OE-NC.Cisplatin significantly inhibited the proliferation, and promoted apoptosis and DNA damage in NPC cells; however, overexpression of RNF138 reversed the aforementioned regulatory role of cisplatin on NPC cells. Knockdown of RNF138 resulted in contrasting phenotypic outcomes. Additionally, in nude mice, RNF138 overexpression attenuated the suppressive effects of cisplatin on the growth of xenograft tumor, while RNF138 silencing further enhanced the inhibiting role of cisplatin. We further indicated that in 5–8 F cells following RNF138 overexpression, some pathways such as PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, human papillomavirus infection and ErbB signaling pathway that have been reported to be associated with NPC progression and cisplatin resistance were significantly enriched. These findings indicate that the modulation of RNF138 could potentially address the issue of chemotherapy failure by overcoming cisplatin resistance in NPC cells, making it a promising candidate for targeted drug therapy. Leaf senescence is a major concern for postharvest leafy vegetables, as leaves are highly prone to yellowing and nutrient loss, resulting in reduced commercial value and limited shelf-life. This study aimed to investigate the effect of L-cysteine (L-cys) on postharvest Chinese flowering cabbage stored at 20 °C. The results showed that 0.5 g L−1 L-cys treatment effectively slowed leaf senescence by downregulating chlorophyll degradation genes (BrNYC1, BrNOL, BrPPH, BrPAO, BrNYE, and BrSAGs) and senescence marker gene BrSAG12. Moreover, this treatment exhibited positive influence on the nutritional quality of cabbage. Also, L-cys treatment maintained ROS homeostasis, preventing excessive ROS accumulation and lipid membrane oxidation. L-cys treatment also maintained a higher total antioxidant capacity and scavenging rate of •OH and O2•−. Additionally, L-cys treatment maintained high levels of ascorbate and glutathione and activated antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase, peroxidase, and catalase) and the expression of the encoding genes. Furthermore, L-cys treatment elevated endogenous H2S levels, which are correlated with increased L-cysteine desulfhydrase activity and the upregulation of H2S biosynthesis-related genes. These findings suggest that L-cys can delay leaf senescence by reducing chlorophyll breakdown, maintaining ROS homeostasis, and stimulating endogenous H2S production. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Forsythia suspensa (F. suspensa) is a plant of the Oleaceae family that is used as a medicinal plant. It is a traditional Chinese medicine that functions in clearing heat and detoxification. F. suspensa contains various phytochemicals, such as lignans, flavonoids, triterpenoids, and phenylethanolic glycosides; however, the main active phytochemical in F. suspensa is phillygenin, which has lipid-lowering, antioxidant, antihypertensive, and tyrosinase inhibitory effects. However, the content of phillygenin in F. suspensa is very low, limiting its application. Methods: This study used wild F. suspensa leaves (FSL) from Lingchuan County (LC), Anze County (AC), Pingshun County (PS), and Pingding County (PD) in Shanxi Province as experimental materials. Through a single factor and orthogonal experimental design, the fermentation time, temperature, and humidity of F. suspensa leaf fermented tea (FSLFT) were optimized using a black tea fermentation machine. By comparing the differences in phillygrin and phillygenin content in FSL and FSLFT, the optimal production process for increasing phillygenin content in FSLFT was sought. This study also compared the differences in bioactive substance content and in vitro antioxidant and antibacterial functions of wild FSLFT from the four counties to evaluate the quality of wild FSLFT from the four counties. Results: The optimal technological parameters of Forsythia suspensa leaf fermented tea (FSLFT): fermentation time of 2 h, fermentation humidity of 80%, fermentation temperature of 35°C, the experimental results showed that the order of influence of each factor on phillygenin content was C (fermentation temperature) > A (fermentation time) > B (fermentation humidity). The cellulase activity of FSLFT was significantly higher than that of FSL (P < 0.05). The total volatile compounds of the wild FSLFT from the four counties were 87 volatile aroma components, 13 of which were common aroma components, and the PCA scores ranged from high to low as follows: AZ-FSLFT > LC-FSLFT > PS-FSLFT > PD-FSLFT. The antioxidant effects of the FSLFT were as follows: AZ-FSLFT > LC-FSLFT > PS-FSLFT > PD-FSLFT. PD-FSLFT had the least inhibitory effect on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, whereas AZ-FSLFT had the greatest inhibitory effect. Conclusion: Fermentation promoted the conversion of phillygrin to phillygenin in FSL, which might be related to the increased cellulase activity in FSL during fermentation. The AZ-FSLFT had the best quality and functional activity, which made sense given its active ingredient content. The open interconnection and sharing characteristics of innovation-oriented enterprises aggravate the potential detrimental effects of intellectual property risks, while the proliferation of uncertainty factors perpetually amplifies the ripples of these risks. This study employed the grounded theory method, complemented by expert interviews, case analyses of intellectual property risk incidents, examination of intellectual property-related laws and regulations, as well as other relevant materials. It gathered comprehensive risk information and conducted an in-depth exploration of the underlying factors that contribute to intellectual property risks in enterprises. These factors encompassed risks associated with intellectual property dispute feedback, intellectual property competition, open innovation, intellectual property legal aspects, and environmental considerations. An index system for risk factors is established based on the comprehensive information collected. Furthermore, a system flow diagram depicting the mechanism of risk formation is developed using the system dynamics model. The study delves into the causal relationships among all risk factors and examines their impact on the overall intellectual property risk system within the enterprise. By simulating the dynamic evolution trend of intellectual property risk over time, the research reveals insights that can assist innovation-oriented enterprises operating in open environments in optimising their intellectual property risk management strategies. Postharvest grapes exhibit a limited shelf life due to susceptibility to rot and deterioration, significantly reducing their nutritional and economic value. Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is a widely recognized preservative for extending grape storage life. This study performed a detailed analysis of 'Munage' table grapes treated with SO2 fumigation, employing transcriptomic and metabolomic approaches. Results indicate that SO2 fumigation significantly extends the shelf life of grapes, as demonstrated by improved visual quality, reduced decay rates, and increased fruit firmness. We identified 309 differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) and 1906 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 135 transcription factors (TFs). Both DEGs and DAMs showed significant enrichment of flavonoid-related metabolism compared with the control, and the relative content of four flavonoid metabolites (Wogonin-7-O-glucuronide, Acacetin-7-O-glucuronide, Apigenin-7-O-glucuronide, and Baicalein 7-O-glucuronide) were significantly increased in grapes upon SO2 treatment, suggesting that SO2 treatment had a substantial regulatory effect on grape flavonoid metabolism. Importantly, we constructed complex regulatory networks by screening key enzyme genes (e.g., PAL, 4CLs, CHS, CHI2, and UGT88F3) related to the metabolism of target flavonoid, as well as potential regulatory transcription factors (TFs). Extensive interconnection has been established between clathrin-mediated endocytosis (CME) and the macroautophagy/autophagy pathway in yeast and mammals. However, the evidence that connects these two pathways in plants has been limited. Starting from the phenotypic similarities in carbon starvation and immune responses shared between the double mutant of CLC2 (clathrin light chain 2) and CLC3, clc2-1 clc3-1, and the atg2-1 mutant in Arabidopsis, we found that the autophagy pathway is compromised in the clc2-1 clc3-1 mutant. Subsequently, we demonstrated that CLC2 interacts specifically with ATG8h and ATG8i, two clade II ATG8 isoforms. The CLC2-ATG8h/ATG8i interaction depends on an Atg8-family interacting motif (AIM) present in CLC2 and an AIMs docking site (ADS) present in ATG8h, respectively. In addition, CLC2-GFP is subjected to autophagic degradation and the degradation of GFP-ATG8h is significantly reduced in the clc2-1 clc3-1 mutant. Last, simultaneously knocking out ATG8h and ATG8i enhances disease resistance, corroborating the functional relevance of the CLC2-ATG8h/8i interactions. These findings reveal that CME and the autophagy pathway are intersected via CLC2-ATG8h/8i interactions in Arabidopsis. DNA demethylation is a very important biochemical pathway regulating a group of biological processes, such as embryo development, fruit ripening, and response to stress. Despite the essential role of DNA demethylases, their evolutionary relationship and detailed biological functions in different land plants remain unclear. In this study, 48 DNA demethylases in 12 land plants were identified and classified. A phylogenetic tree was constructed to demonstrate the evolutionary relationships among these DNA demethylases, indicating how they are related across different species. Conserved domain, protein motif, and gene structure analysis showed that these 48 DNA demethylases fell into the presently identified four classes of DNA demethylases. Amino acid alignment revealed conserved catalytic sites and a previously less-studied protein region (referred to as domain A) within the DNA demethylases. An analysis showed a conserved pattern of gene duplication for DNA demethylases throughout their evolutionary history, suggesting that these genes had been maintained due to their importance. The examination of promoter cis-elements displayed potential signaling and regulating pathways of DNA demethylases. Furthermore, the expression profile was analyzed to investigate the physiological role of rice DNA demethylase in different developmental stages, in tissues, and in response to stress and various phytohormone signals. The findings offer a deeper insight into the functional regions of DNA demethylases and their evolutionary relationships, which can guide future research directions. SUMMARY: Low temperature (LT) greatly restricts grain filling in maize (Zea mays L.), but the relevant molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. To better understand the effect of LT on grain development, 17 hybrids were subjected to LT stress in field trials over 3 years, and two hybrids of them with contrasting LT responses were exposed to 30/20°C and 20/10°C for 7 days during grain filling in a greenhouse. At LT, thousand‐kernel weight declined, especially in LT‐sensitive hybrid FM985, while grain‐filling rate was on average about 48% higher in LT‐tolerant hybrid DK159 than FM985. LT reduced starch synthesis in kernel mainly by suppression of transcript levels and enzyme activities for sucrose synthase and hexokinase. Brassinolide (BR) was abundant in DK159 kernel, and genes involved in BR and cytokinin signals were inducible by stress. LT downregulated the genes in light‐harvesting complex and photosystem I/II subunits, accompanied by reduced photosynthetic rate and Fv/Fm in ear leaf. The LT‐tolerant hybrid could maintain a high soluble sugar content and fast interconversion between sucrose and hexose in the stem internode and cob, improving assimilate allocation to kernel at LT stress and paving the way for simultaneous growth and LT stress responses. Significance Statement: A relatively high sucrose synthase and hexokinase in kernel together with abundant sugar and efficient sucrose degradation in stem and cob, as well as high capacity in photosynthesis in leaf, confer maize low‐temperature tolerance during grain filling. Background: Patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) have an increased risk of disease exacerbation and decreased survival. We aimed to develop and validate a non‐invasive nomogram for predicting COPD associated with severe PH and a prognostic nomogram for patients with COPD and concurrent PH (COPD–PH). Methods: This study included 535 patients with COPD–PH from six hospitals. A multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyse the risk factors for severe PH in patients with COPD and a multivariate Cox regression was used for the prognostic factors of COPD–PH. Performance was assessed using calibration, the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve and decision analysis curves. Kaplan–Meier curves were used for a survival analysis. The nomograms were developed as online network software. Results: Tricuspid regurgitation velocity, right ventricular diameter, N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP), the red blood cell count, New York Heart Association functional class and sex were non‐invasive independent variables of severe PH in patients with COPD. These variables were used to construct a risk assessment nomogram with good discrimination. NT‐proBNP, mean pulmonary arterial pressure, partial pressure of arterial oxygen, the platelet count and albumin were independent prognostic factors for COPD–PH and were used to create a predictive nomogram of overall survival rates. Conclusions: The proposed nomograms based on a large sample size of patients with COPD–PH could be used as non‐invasive clinical tools to enhance the risk assessment of severe PH in patients with COPD and for the prognosis of COPD–PH. Introduction: Sepsis, a syndrome of organ dysfunction caused by an unregulated host response to infection. This study aimed to develop a novel sepsis diagnostic model of hematological parameters and evaluate its effectiveness in the early identification and prognosis of sepsis in emergency departments. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted in Emergency Department. Cell population data parameters related to monocytes and neutrophils were obtained using the Mindary BC‐6800 plus hematology analyzer. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, logistic regression analysis was performed to assess the performance of the parameters and establish a diagnostic and prognostic model of sepsis, which was then verified with a validation cohort. Results: Mon_XW exhibited the best diagnostic performance (area under the ROC curve [AUC] = 0.848, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.810–0.885, p < 0.001), followed by Neu_Y and Neu_YW (AUC = 0.777 95% CI: 0.730–0.824, p < 0.001). Logistic regression analysis identified Mon_XW and Neu_Y as independent predictors, which were used to establish a diagnostic model named hematological parameter for sepsis (HPS). HPS demonstrated the best diagnostic performance with an AUC of 0.862 (95% CI: 0.826–0.898, p < 0.001), sensitivity of 70.0%, and specificity of 87.1%, compared to C‐reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT). The validation cohort also found that the positive predictive value of HPS was 70.4% and the negative predictive value was 92.2%. Conclusion: The developed HPS model showed promising diagnostic efficacy for sepsis in the emergency department, which outperformed CRP and PCT in terms of sensitivity and specificity. BAZ2A, an epigenetic regulatory factor that affects ribosomal RNA transcription, has been shown to be highly expressed in several cancers and promotes tumor cell migration. This study explored the expression and mechanism of BAZ2A in tumorigenesis at the pan-cancer level. The Cancer Genome Atlas, Gene Expression Omnibus databases and TIMER2.0, cBioPortal and other tools were used to analyze the level of expression of BAZ2A in various tumor tissues and to examine the relationship between BAZ2A and survival, prognosis, mutation and immune invasion. In vitro experiments were performed to assess the function of BAZ2A in cancer cells. Using combined transcriptome and proteome analysis, we examined the possible mechanism of BAZ2A in tumors. BAZ2A exhibited high expression levels in multiple tumor tissues and displayed a significant association with cancer patient prognosis. The main type of BAZ2A genetic variation in cancer is gene mutation. Downregulation of BAZ2A inhibited proliferation, migration, and invasion and promoted apoptosis in LM6 liver cancer cell. The mechanism of BAZ2A in cancer development may involve lipid metabolism. Aim: Exercise can reduce body weight and promote white fat browning, but the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. This study investigated the role of fibronectin type III domain‐containing protein 5 (FNDC5)/Irisin, a hormone released from exercising muscle, in the browning of white fat in circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs). Methods: Mice were subjected to a 4 weeks of running table exercise, and fat browning was analyzed via histology, protein blotting and qPCR. Circulating EVs were extracted by ultrahigh‐speed centrifugation, and ELISA was used to measure the irisin concentration in the circulating EVs. Circulating EVs that differentially expressed irisin were applied to adipocytes, and the effect of EV‐irisin on adipocyte energy metabolism was analyzed by immunofluorescence, protein blotting, and cellular oxygen consumption rate analysis. Results: During sustained exercise, the mice lost weight and developed fat browning. FNDC5 was induced, cleaved, and secreted into irisin, and irisin levels subsequently increased in the plasma during exercise. Interestingly, irisin was highly expressed in circulating EVs that effectively promoted adipose browning. Mechanistically, the circulating EV‐irisin complex is transported intracellularly by the adipocyte membrane receptor integrin αV, which in turn activates the AMPK signaling pathway, which is dependent on mitochondrial uncoupling protein 1 to cause mitochondrial plasmonic leakage and promote heat production. After inhibition of the AMPK signaling pathway, the effects of the EV‐irisin on promoting fat browning were minimal. Conclusion: Exercise leads to the accumulation of circulating EV‐irisin, which enhances adipose energy metabolism and thermogenesis and promotes white fat browning in mice, leading to weight loss. Enzymatic additives, particularly alkaline proteases, play a crucial role in enhancing detergent effectiveness against protein-based stains. Despite advancements in enzyme stabilization techniques, there is a need for innovative strategies to further improve protease stability in laundry detergents. However, research exploring the utilization of substrate imprinting technology to achieve this objective remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to enhance the stability of alkaline proteases in laundry detergents by employing casein as an imprinting substrate and utilizing transglutaminase-mediated (TGase) crosslinking to modify proteases 102 and 306. The optimal temperature, pH, and thermal stability of the modified alkaline proteases 102 and 306 showed no significant changes. However, these two modified alkaline proteases exhibited varying degrees of improvement in stability among the 14 detergent additives tested. Under 40 °C incubation for 24 h, the relative enzyme activity of modified alkaline protease 102 increased approximately 1.4–15-fold in AEO-9, BS-12, CMI, APG, FMEE, and SOE, while the relative enzyme activity of modified alkaline protease 306 increased approximately 1.2–3.7-fold across different additives (FMEE, AEO-9, BS-12, SOE, FAA, and AEC-9Na). These modified proteases demonstrated improved stability and wider applicability across commercial detergent formulations available. Integrated into standard laundry detergent at a 1:7 ratio before and after modification, they effectively removed protein stains from the cotton fabric after 24 h of 40 °C incubation. Carbon prediction on the township level is usually difficult due to a lack of necessary information. To fulfil the research gap, the study focused on a town located in a nearshore island (Lingshan) in China. A questionnaire survey was performed to collect essential information about the future development of the town, followed by validating interviews with the island management committee. The carbon prediction of the town was established by the Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP) model. The baseline scenario reflecting the existing method of carbon management was compared with an alternative low-carbon scenario. The prediction from 2020 to 2060 covers the periods of the planned carbon emissions peak in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2060. It is found that energy-related activities and electricity consumption are the primary contributors to carbon emissions on the island. The carbon emission of Lingshan Island increases from −1333 tCO2e in 2020 to 2744 tCO2e in 2060, and the carbon peak target cannot be achieved in the baseline scenario. However, the carbon emission of the low-carbon scenario is predicted to have a peak of −850 tCO2e in 2029. The prediction model developed in this study, along with the proposed policy recommendations, can be applied to other towns or regions where data availability is limited to promote carbon reduction. In pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDAC), profound hypoxia plays key roles in regulating cancer cell behavior, including proliferation, migration, and resistance to therapies. The initial part of this research highlights the important role played by long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) MKLN1-AS, which is controlled by hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α), in the progression of PDAC. Human samples of PDAC showed a notable increase in MKLN1-AS expression, which was linked to a worse outcome. Forced expression of MKLN1-AS greatly reduced the inhibitory impact on the growth and spread of PDAC cells caused by HIF-1α depletion. Experiments on mechanisms showed that HIF-1α influences the expression of MKLN1-AS by directly attaching to a hypoxia response element in the promoter region of MKLN1-AS.MKLN1-AS acts as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by binding to miR-185-5p, resulting in the regulation of TEAD1 expression and promoting cell proliferation, migration, and tumor growth. TEAD1 subsequently enhances the development of PDAC. Our study results suggest that MKLN1-AS could serve as a promising target for treatment and a valuable indicator for predicting outcomes in PDAC. This study used radar observations and a high‐resolution numerical simulation to explore the interactions between an mesoscale convective system (MCS), cold pool outflows, and atmospheric bores in a non‐uniform baroclinic environment. The bores were generated by a nocturnal MCS that occurred on 2–3 June 2017 over the southern North China Plain. The goal of this investigation is to determine how the structure of bores varied within this non‐uniform environment and whether and how the bores would maintain the MCS and alter its structure. To the southwest of the MCS, where there was large CAPE and a well‐mixed boundary layer, discrete convection initiation occurred behind a single radar fine line (RFL) maintaining the propagation of the MCS. To the southeast of the MCS, multiple RFLs were found suggesting the generation of an undular bore in an environment containing an intense nocturnal stable boundary layer with dry upper layers and little CAPE. Hydraulic and nonlinear theory were applied to the simulation of the MCS revealing that the differences in the bore evolution depended on both the characteristics of the cold pool and the variations in the ambient environment. Thus, the characteristics of the ambient environment and the associated differences in bore structure impacted the maintenance and organization of the MCS. This study implies the importance of an accurate representation of the low‐level ambient environment and the microphysics and kinematics within the MCS to accurately simulate and forecast cold pools, the generation and evolution of bores, and their impact on nocturnal MCSs. Plain Language Summary: Convective storms that occur during the day are often maintained by the lifting of low‐level air by storm outflows. At night when a low‐level stable layer forms, these outflows can generate an atmospheric bore, which is a type of gravity wave response. Investigations at numerous locations worldwide have demonstrated that bores contribute to the initiation and maintenance of nocturnal convective systems. However, relatively few studies have concentrated on how a non‐uniform nocturnal environment can change the structure of bores and their impact on convection. This study examines how bores and convection interact over the southern North China Plain (SNCP) where the nocturnal environment during warm season is often non‐uniform. These environmental variations impacted the generation and evolution of the bores altering the storm structure. The bores over the SNCP also had a unique generation mechanism forming when a strong downdraft penetrated into a moist layer. This study shows that an accurate representation of both the ambient environment and the storm microphysics and kinematics are likely necessary to improve the forecast accuracy of the nocturnal convective systems, particularly over regions with a non‐uniform environment, such as the SNCP. Background: Dynamic interpersonal therapy (DIT) is a brief, structured psychodynamic psychotherapy with demonstrated efficacy in treating major depressive disorder (MDD). The aim of the study was to determine whether DIT is an acceptable and efficacious treatment for MDD patients in China. Method: Patients were randomized to 16-week treatments with either DIT plus antidepressant medication (DIT + ADM; n = 66), general supportive therapy plus antidepressant medication (GST + ADM; n = 75) or antidepressant medication alone (ADM; n = 70). The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) administered by blind raters was the primary efficacy measure. Assessments were completed during the acute 16-week treatment and up to 12-month posttreatment. Results: The group × time interaction was significant for the primary outcome HAMD (F = 2.900, df1 = 10, df2 = 774.72, p = 0.001) in the acute treatment phase. Pairwise comparisons showed a benefit of DIT + ADM over ADM at weeks 12 [least-squares (LS) mean difference = −3.161, p = 0.007] and 16 (LS mean difference = −3.237, p = 0.004). Because of the unexpected high attrition during the posttreatment follow-up phase, analyses of follow-up data were considered exploratory. Differences between DIT + ADM and ADM remained significant at the 1-, 6-, and 12-month follow-up (p s range from 0.001 to 0.027). DIT + ADM had no advantage over GST + ADM during the acute treatment phase. However, at the 12-month follow-up, patients who received DIT remained less depressed. Conclusions: Acute treatment with DIT or GST in combination with ADM was similarly efficacious in reducing depressive symptoms and yielded a better outcome than ADM alone. The existing topic models usually focus the citation relationships when considering the relationships between documents. To make full use of the information contained in scientific documents, this paper proposes a Multi-Relational Neural Topic Model (MRNTM) based on the three relationships networks between documents. This work comprehensively considers the multiple relationships networks between documents: citation relationship, author relationship, and co-citation relationship, and then proposes a model that combines Variational Auto-Encoder (VAE) with neural networks multi-layer perceptron (MLP). This model not only can be used to learn more representative document topics, but also capture the complex interaction between documents according to their latent topics. The interaction between documents can further promote topic learning. Experiments on two real datasets show that our model can effectively utilize latent topics and the relationship between document networks, and superior to existing models in topic learning and citation link prediction. Water resources are crucial for human activities and sustainable socioeconomic development. Understanding surface water information can play a key role in water resource management, which affects the global water cycle and ecological environments. Considering the Hailar River water body as an example, this study proposes a new threshold self-learning water body extraction method (TSLWEM) based on modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI) data. The optimal water extraction thresholds determined by the TSLWEM algorithm for four test images were −0.0030 , 0, 0.1990, and −0.0800. The TSLWEM algorithm effectively identified the target water body with recognition accuracies of 98.08%, 99.93%, 93.39%, and 93.20% for the four test images. Moreover, it can accurately identify small tributaries, such as lakes and rivers. The TSLWEM algorithm is suitable for Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) data, which can effectively monitor and map complex surface water in temperate and semiarid regions while improving the accuracy of water body identification. Through laboratory tests, the unconfined compressive strength, CBR, water stability and resistance to dry-wet cycles of industrial solid waste based soil stabilizer and Portland cement stabilized low-liquid-limit clay were compared and analyzed. The results show that the optimum moisture content of the soil stabilized by industrial solid waste based soil stabilizer increases and the maximum dry density decreases with the increase of soil stabilizer content. Compared with Portland cement of fly ash, the physical and mechanical properties of stabilized soil with low content (3%) of industrial solid waste based soil stabilizer are equivalent with cement stabilized soil, but the stabilized soil with higher content (4%~6%) of industrial solid waste based soil stabilizer can obtain higher CBR values and unconfined compressive strengths. Under the condition of the same dosage and age, the water stability and resistance to dry-wet cycles of low-liquid-limit clay stabilized by industrial solid waste based soil stabilizer are better than that of cement stabilized soil. In the context of open innovation, selecting partners for knowledge collaboration is crucial for knowledge-intensive enterprises, and matching cooperation is key to successful intellectual property cooperation. To provide enterprises with practical tools for partner selection, this paper analyzes the evaluation factors of intellectual property partners. We establish a collaborative innovation intellectual property partner selection model by combining the maximum entropy model with grey relational method, and calculating the comprehensive evaluation value of candidate enterprises by using the improved Pythagorean Fuzzy Hybrid Aggregation (PF-HA) operator. An application example illustrates the feasibility and advantage of the improved PF-HA method improving the selection of intellectual property partners. Compared with other methods, the advantages of PF-HA are shown in that it can simultaneously optimize the use efficiency of multi-partner and multi-dimensional evaluation data, and effectively deal with the ambiguity of expert decision information and the flexibility of index weight in the partner evaluation process. Background: Tianhuang formula (THF) is a Chinese medicine prescription that is patented and clinically approved, and has been shown to improve energy metabolism, but the underlying mechanism remains poorly understood. The purpose of this study is to clarify the potential mechanisms of THF in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: A murine model of T2DM was induced by high-fat diet (HFD) feeding combined with low-dose streptozocin (STZ) injections, and the diabetic mice were treated with THF by gavaging for consecutive 10 weeks. Fasting blood glucose (FBG), serum insulin, blood lipid, mitochondrial Ca2+ (mCa2+) levels and mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP), as well as ATP production were analyzed. The target genes and proteins expression of visceral adipose tissue (Vat) was tested by RT-PCR and western blot, respectively. The underlying mechanism of the regulating energy metabolism effect of THF was further explored in the insulin resistance model of 3T3-L1 adipocytes cultured with dexamethasone (DXM). Results: THF restored impaired glucose tolerance and insulin resistance in diabetic mice. Serum levels of lipids were significantly decreased, as well as fasting blood glucose and insulin in THF-treated mice. THF regulated mCa2+ uptake, increased MMP and ATP content in VAT. THF increased the mRNA and protein expression of AMPK, phosphorylated AMPK (p-AMPK), MICU1, sirtuin1 (SIRT1) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-γ coactivator-1α (PGC-1α). THF could increase the mCa2+ level of 3T3-L1 adipocytes and regulate mitochondrial function. The protein expression of AMPK, p-AMPK, mCa2+ uniporter (MCU) and MICU1 decreased upon adding AMPK inhibitor compound C to 3T3-L1 adipocytes and the protein expression of MCU and MICU1 decreased upon adding the MCU inhibitor ruthenium red. Conclusions: These results demonstrated that THF ameliorated glucose and lipid metabolism disorders in T2DM mice through the improvement of AMPK/MICU1 pathway-dependent mitochondrial function in adipose tissue. Obesity is a common chronic metabolic disease that induces chronic systemic inflammation in the body, eventually leading to related complications such as insulin resistance (IR), type 2 diabetes mellitus, and metabolic syndromes such as cardiovascular disease. Exosomes transfer bioactive substances to neighboring or distal cells through autosomal, paracrine, or distant secretion, regulating the gene and protein expression levels of receptor cells. In this study, we investigated the effect of mouse bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell‐derived exosomes (BMSC‐Exos) on high‐fat diet obese mice and mature 3T3‐L1 adipocyte models of IR. BMSC‐Exo treatment of obese mice promoted their metabolic homeostasis, including reduction of obesity, inhibition of M1‐type proinflammatory factor expression, and improvement of insulin sensitivity. In vitro analysis revealed that BMSC‐Exos improved IR and lipid droplet accumulation in mature 3T3‐L1 adipocytes treated with palmitate (PA). Mechanistically, BMSC‐Exos cause increased glucose uptake and improved IR in high‐fat chow‐fed mice and PA‐acting 3T3‐L1 adipocytes by activating the phosphoinositide 3‐kinases/protein kinase B (PI3K/AKT) signaling pathway and upregulating glucose transporter protein 4 (GLUT4) expression. With the aggravation of fire and smoke pollution, it is urgent to develop green, lower-cost and high-performance Foamed Wood–Plastic Composite (FWPC) to meet the standards of antistatic and flame retardant in practical application. Therefore, the flame retardant and antistatic FWPCs were prepared by compression molding in this study. High-density polyethylene (PE-HD) and Salix wood flour were used as main raw materials, and azodicarbonamide (AC) was used as foaming agent; Nano-carbon black (Nano-CB) was used as antistatic filler, and ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and zinc borate (ZB) were used as flame retardants. The static bending strength and elastic modulus of FWPC-20 were up to 30.01 MPa and 2636 MPa, respectively, which can meet the commercial application of wood–plastic decorative board. The logarithm of surface resistivity and volume resistivity of FWPC-20 was kept at eight, indicating that it has antistatic effect. The residual carbon rate of FWPC-20 increased to 38.58% at 800 °C, indicating that FWPC had high thermal stability. The minimum heat release rate of FWPC-20 was 226.75 kw/m2, and the average heat release rate was 110.53 kw/m2. The total heat release was 66.96 MJ/m2, and the Limit Oxygen Index was 27.3%, which indicated that FWPC-20 had flame retardant and smoke suppression effects. This study provides a low-cost and simple method for the design of flame retardant, antistatic and high-performance FWPC, and has broad application prospects in the fields of packaging and construction. The semi-arid region of northern China is highly sensitive to environmental changes, especially the Hulunbuir Grassland, which has an essential ecological status and a fragile environment. This study focused on the NDVI characteristics of three different ecosystems and their dominant influencing factors. It proposed a method to show the immediate effects of factors influencing NDVI on a statistical level. The results showed that: (1) NDVI of floodplain wetland > NDVI of meadow > NDVI of sand ribbon. There were obvious differences among the three ecosystems, and the spatial distribution of NDVI was consistent with altitude. (2) The main explanatory factors were the phenological period, humidity, temperature, accumulated precipitation, runoff, and evaporation, which accounted for 68.8% of the total explanation. (3) Phenological period, humidity, and precipitation were positively correlated with NDVI. Temperature and evaporation had a positive effect on NDVI within a certain range. This study revealed the differences in environmental factors in different ecosystems, enriched the theory of NDVI influencing factors, and provided a scientific basis for future NDVI research and regional ecological conservation. In 2019, triggered lightning was used to directly strike phase C of a 1.5 km, 10 kV double‐circuit distribution line in Guangzhou, China, with 2 flashes (13 return strokes) recorded. This paper presents the characteristics of induced voltage at the closest pole on the parallel line. The induced voltage is bipolar, which can be divided into 3 stages: negative increase stage, fast and positive transition stage and slowly returning to zero stage. The positive peak value of phase A voltage ranges from 111.4 to 228.9 kV and that of phase C voltage is from 90.1 to 200.9 kV, corresponding to lightning current from −8.9 to −29.9 kA. The positive peak value of the induced voltage is approximately 3 to 10 times the negative peak value. The negative peak, positive peak and positive 10%–10% duration time of induced voltage show a good linear relationship with the peak value of the return stroke current. There was no flashover occurred during the whole process. The result in this paper can provide data support for numerical simulation and line protection analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper describes a study on the corrosion behavior of steel reinforcement in CAC mortars via electrochemical methods including corrosion potential, electrochemical impedance, and linear polarization evaluation. Results indicate that there is a non-linear relationship between the corrosion degree of steel reinforcement in CAC mortar and the concentration of NaCl solution. The electrochemical parameters of specimens immersed in 3% NaCl solution suddenly drop at 40 days, earlier than 60 days of the reference. And the charge transfer resistivity of the specimen has decreased by 11 orders of magnitude at 40 days, showing an evident corrosion on steel reinforcement. However, it is interesting to notice that the corrosion is delayed by high external chloride concentration. The specimens immersed in 9% and 15% NaCl solutions remain in a relatively stable state within 120 days with slight pitting. Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK/MPK) cascades play crucial parts in plant growth, development processes, immune ability, and stress responses; however, the regulatory mechanism by which MAPK affects fruit ripening remains largely unexplored. Here, we reported that MaMPK14 cooperated with MaMYB4 to mediate postharvest banana fruit ripening. Transient overexpression of individual MaMPK14 and MaMYB4 in banana fruit delayed fruit ripening, confirming the negative roles in the ripening. The ripening negative regulator MaMYB4 could repress the transcription of genes associated with ethylene biosynthesis and fruit softening, such as MaACS1, MaXTH5, MaPG3, and MaEXPA15. Furthermore, MaMPK14 phosphorylated MaMYB4 at Ser160 via a direct interaction. Mutation at Ser160 of MaMYB4 reduced its interaction with MaMPK14 but did not affect its subcellular localization. Importantly, phosphorylation of MaMYB4 by MaMPK14 enhanced the MaMYB4-mediated transcriptional inhibition, binding strength, protein stability, and the repression of fruit ripening. Taken together, our results delineated the regulation pathway of MAPK module during banana fruit ripening, which involved the phosphorylation modification of MaMYB4 mediated by MaMPK14. The operation of disconnectors in gas insulated substation (GIS) or power plant will produce very fast transient overvoltage (VFTO), which is considered to have serious harm to transformer longitudinal insulation and other high‐voltage equipment insulation. VFTO may also lead to secondary circuit failure. In this paper, the holistic modelling of 500 kV GIS step‐up substation equipment with a double circuit and long GIS busbar in a coastal power plant is established using Electromagnetic Transient Program (EMTP). The authors calculated the VFTO waveform that may be generated in different operations of the GIS substation. The authors analyze the amplitude and frequency characteristics of the VFTO waveform at lightning arresters and the entrance of transformers and find that the amplitude of VFTO at the entrance of #1 MT is less than its impulse withstand voltage. In some cases, the VFTO waveform at the entrance of #1 MT has high‐frequency content with fast attenuation. The VFTO waveform generated when operating the disconnector close to the arrester will cause the arrester to act many times and count frequently in a short time. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper reports the waveform characteristics and parameters of the overvoltage at the terminal of a 1.5 km 10 kV distribution line by direct triggered lightning. The three-phase overvoltage exhibited three kinds of waveforms, all including the initial rising process of the negative peak, the transition from negative peak to the positive peak or the residual voltage, and the subsequent oscillation process. It is observed that the negative peak value of the three-phase overvoltage is between −8.2 kV and −96.1 kV and the rise time of negative peak is between 3.2 μs and 31.7 μs, while the corresponding peak value of the return stroke current is between 3.3 kA and 32.9 kA. When the return stroke current is relatively small, the negative peak value of the direct struck phase overvoltage is twice or more than that of the indirect struck phase. When it is larger, the negative peak value of the indirect struck phase overvoltage is much closer to that of direct struck phase. There is good linear relation between the negative peak value of the indirect struck phase overvoltage and the peak value of the lightning return stroke current, with correlation coefficient being 0.98 and 0.90. Hydatidiform moles (HMs) are pathologic conceptions with unique genetic bases and abnormal placental villous tissue. Overlapping ultrasonographical and histological manifestations of molar and non-molar (NM) gestations and HMs subtypes makes accurate diagnosis challenging. Currently, immunohistochemical analysis of p57 and molecular genotyping have greatly improved the diagnostic accuracy. The differential expression of molecular biomarkers may be valuable for distinguishing among the subtypes of HMs and their mimics. Thus, biomarkers may be the key to refining HMs diagnosis. In this review, we summarize the current challenges in diagnosing HMs, and provide a critical overview of the recent literature about potential diagnostic biomarkers and their subclassifications. An online search on PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases was conducted from the inception to 1 April 2022. The emerging biomarkers offer new possibilities to refine the diagnosis for HMs and pregnancy loss. Although the additional studies are required to be quantified and investigated in clinical trials to verify their diagnostic utility. With the application of complex fracturing and other complex technologies, external extrusion has become the main cause of casing damage, which makes non-API high-extrusion-resistant casing continuously used in unconventional oil and gas resources exploitation. Due to the strong sensitivity of string ovality, uneven wall thickness, residual stress, and other factors to high anti-collapse casing, the API formula has a big error in predicting the anti-collapse strength of high anti-collapse casing. Therefore, Bayesian regularization artificial neural network (BRANN) is used to predict the external collapse strength of high anti-collapse casing. By collecting full-scale physical data, including initial defect data, geometric size, mechanical parameters, etc., after data preprocessing, the casing collapse strength data set is established for model training and blind measurement. Under the classical three-layer neural network, the Bayesian regularization algorithm is used for training. Through empirical formula and trial and error method, it is determined that when the number of hidden neurons is 12, the model is the best prediction model for high collapse resistance casing. The prediction results of the blind test data imported by the model show that the coincidence rate of BRANN casing collapse strength prediction can reach 96.67%. Through error analysis with API formula prediction results and KT formula prediction results improved by least square fitting, the BRANN-based casing collapse strength prediction has higher accuracy and stability. Compared with the traditional prediction method, this model can be used to predict casing strength under more complicated working conditions, and it has a certain guiding significance. This paper reports the observation results of three‐phase overvoltage at the lightning strike point of a 1.5 km, 10 kV power distribution line that was struck directly by rocket triggered lightning to its phase wire C. The arrester of the direct struck phase at the lightning strike point operated in all return strokes corresponding to return stroke current from −3.3 kA to −32.9 kA. The waveform of direct struck phase includes an initial spike before negative peak, operation area of metal oxide varistor, and the final attenuation with oscillation. The overvoltage waveforms of the indirect struck phase at the lightning strike point show a small initial negative peak, rapid transition to a large positive peak, and the final negative attenuation with oscillation. The negative peak value of the indirect struck phase at lightning strike point ranged from −4.1 kV to −25.2 kV and that of the direct struck phase was between −78.1 kV and −167.8 kV. The positive peak value of indirect struck phase was between 0.2 kV and 49.8 kV. The negative peak value, zero‐crossing time and the peak‐to‐peak value of voltage all have a good linear relation with the peak value of lightning return stroke current. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Stroke is one of the major challenges for the global healthcare system, which makes it necessary to explore the relationship between various modifiable factors and stroke risk. Recently, numerous meta-analyses of prospective observational studies have reported that dietary factors played a key role in the occurrence of stroke. However, the conclusions of previous studies have remained controversial and unclear. Accordingly, we conducted an umbrella review synthesizing and recalculating available evidence to assess the certainty of the associations between dietary factors and stroke.Methods: Relevant meta-analyses examining the associations between dietary factors and stroke were searched in PubMed and Embase databases up to September 1, 2021. For each eligible meta-analysis, two independent reviewers appraised the methodologic quality using the AMSTAR 2 criteria and estimated the summary effect size, 95% confidence intervals, 95% prediction intervals, heterogeneity between studies, and small-study effects. Moreover, we further assessed the associations between dietary factors and ischemic stroke as well as hemorrhagic stroke. Lastly, a set of pre-specified criteria was applied to qualitatively evaluate the epidemiological credibility of each dietary factor.Results: Overall, our umbrella review included 122 qualified meta-analyses for qualitative synthesis, involving 71 dietary factors related to food groups, foods, macronutrients, and micronutrients. Using the AMSTAR 2 criteria, 5 studies were assessed as high quality, 4 studies as moderate quality, and 113 studies as low or critically low quality. We identified 34 dietary factors associated with stroke occurrence, 25 dietary factors related to ischemic stroke, and 11 factors related to hemorrhagic stroke. Among them, high/moderate certainty epidemiological evidence demonstrated an inverse association between intake of fruits (RR: 0.90) and vegetables (RR: 0.92) and stroke incidence, but a detrimental association between red meat (RR: 1.12), especially processed red meat consumption (RR:1.17), and stroke incidence. Besides, the evidence of high/moderate certainty suggested that the intake of processed meat, fruits, coffee, tea, magnesium, and dietary fiber was associated with ischemic stroke risk, while consumption of tea, fruits, and vegetables was relevant to hemorrhagic stroke susceptibility.Conclusions: Our study has reported that several dietary factors have a significant impact on stroke risk and offered a new insight into the relationship between dietary modification and stroke occurrence. Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a serious complication of diabetes that can lead to heart failure and death, for which there is no effective treatment. Rhynchophylline (Rhy) is the main effective component of the Chinese herbal medicine Uncaria rhynchophylla , which mainly acts on the cardiovascular and nervous systems. However, its role in protecting against DCM remains unexplored. The present study sought to reveal the mechanism of Rhy in improving type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) myocardial lesions from the perspective of regulating calcium homeostasis in cardiomyocytes. We prepared a mouse model of T2DM using a high-fat diet combined with low doses of streptozotocin. The T2DM mice were given 40 mg/kg of Rhy for 8 weeks. The results showed that Rhy can attenuate cardiac pathological changes, slow down the heart rate, decrease serum cardiac enzyme levels, reduce cardiomyocyte apoptosis, enhance cardiomyocyte contractility, and raise the calcium transient amplitude in T2DM mice. Further, Rhy downregulated the phosphorylation level of ryanodine receptor 2, upregulated the phosphorylation level of phospholamban, protected mitochondrial structure and function, and increased adenosine triphosphate levels in the cardiac tissue of T2DM mice. Our results demonstrated that Rhy may protect against myocardial damage in T2DM mice and promote cardiomyocyte contraction, and its mechanism of action seems to be related to the regulation of intracellular calcium homeostasis. A negative triggered lightning involving five types of leaders was recorded by high-speed camera using frame rate of 20,000 fps and fast antennas at different distances. Five types of leaders contained one upward positive stepped leader, one upward positive dart leader, ten downward negative dart leader, one bidirectional leader and three downward negative dart-stepped leaders were propagated successively in the same channel. The upward positive dart leader occurred after initial continuous current pulse with average 2-D speed of 1.40 × 106 m/s and started second continuous current process. The bidirectional leader was transformed from decaying unidirectional leader and showed the unique electric field changes. Faster return strokes are found to be induced by downward leaders propagating evenly and deposit more positive charge in the following residual channel. Parkinson's disease (PD) is widely considered to be a disabling neurodegenerative disorder, which has been ranked second worldwide just after Alzheimer's disease. Until present, a wide range of studies has focused on the role of circulating inflammatory cytokines in the development of PD. However, the causal relationship between circulating inflammatory cytokines and the risk and age at the onset of PD has not been elucidated. Hence, to evaluate the effects of circulating inflammatory cytokines on the risk or age at the onset of PD more accurately, we conducted this two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study involving summary statistics from genome-wide association studies (GWASs). Totally, we included a GWAS for inflammatory cytokines (8,293 participants), a meta-analysis of GWASs for PD risk (482,730 participants), and a GWAS dataset for age at the onset of PD (17,996 patients with PD). A total of 149 and 131 polymorphisms for exploring relationships between 19 inflammatory cytokines and the risk and age at the onset of PD were obtained as instrumental variants. Then, we used a total of five MR methods, including inverse-variance weighted (IVW), Wald ratio, MR Egger regression, weighted median, and MR-pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO) methods. Finally, we found a causal association between circulating levels of macrophage inflammatory protein-1 beta (MIP1b) and PD risk in the IVW method (OR: 1.06; 95% CI: 1.02–1.10; P = 0.001). Meanwhile, other MR estimates by weighted median and MR-PRESSO methods yielded similar effect estimates. Besides, we identified a suggestive association of interleukin-16 (IL-16) levels with PD risk (OR: 1.08; 95% CI: 1.00–1.17; P = 0.037). For age at PD onset, there was no evidence supporting its correlation with inflammatory cytokines. Plant growth retardants (mainly with active ingredient of ethephon) prevent maize (Zea mays L.) lodging as plant density increases, but frequently reduce grain yield if lodging is not a problem, in relation to application time. To explore the effects of ethephon application time on maize yield, literature published in the past 35 years concerning ethephon or ethephon-related plant growth retardant in maize were collected for meta-analysis. In addition, field experiments, including ethephon application time from 8- to 15-leaf stages, were conducted in 2018 and 2019. Exogenous application of ethephon decreased lodging as a function of reduced plant and ear height and enhanced bending strength and rind penetration resistance of basal stem internodes. Lodging rate was at the lowest level at the 8–10 leaf application of ethephon and then significantly increased with the delayed application. The degree of reduction of internode length was related to application time; ethephon application at n-leaf stage started to work at the n-2 internode and reduced the n internode length the most. Grain yield increased with the delayed application time and reached the highest level with application at the 14-leaf stage in 2019 (32.6%) compared with control treatment, mainly owing to the increased kernel/ear and kernel/m2. The internode length from the plant bottom to the top was negatively correlated with kernel/ear and kernel/m2, and the correlations were significant nearby and below the ear. Applying ethephon after the 13-leaf stage can avoid damaging floret number (potential kernel number per ear), at which time floret initiation has terminated. Besides, delayed ethephon application enabled stem growth to compete less with floret growth by reducing stem internode elongation during the critical period, and accelerated photosynthate partitioning from leaves to the ear, providing enough assimilate for kernel formation and growth. Taken together, delayed ethephon application (i.e., after 60% leaf age index) in combination with lodging resistant hybrids can further raise maize yield in the context of continuously increased plant densities. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive and devastating neurodegenerative disease with increasing incidence and high mortality, resulting in a considerable socio-economic burden. Till now, plenty of studies have explored the potential relationship between circulating levels of various micronutrients and ALS risk. However, the observations remain equivocal and controversial. Thus, we conducted a two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) study to investigate the causality between circulating concentrations of 9 micronutrients, including retinol, folate acid, vitamin B12, B6 and C, calcium, copper, zinc as well as magnesium, and ALS susceptibility. In our analysis, several single nucleotide polymorphisms were collected as instrumental variables from large-scale genome-wide association studies of these 9 micronutrients. Then, inverse variance weighted (IVW) approach as well as alternative MR-Egger regression, weighted median and MR-pleiotropy residual sum and outlier (MR-PRESSO) analyses were performed to evaluate causal estimates. The results from IVW analysis showed that there was no causal relationship of 9 micronutrients with ALS risk. Meanwhile, the three complementary approaches obtained similar results. Rubber hoses are a category of rubber products that are widely and intensively employed in construction sites for concrete conveying. There has been lack of study to investigate the life cycle environmental and economic impacts of the rubber hoses as an industrial product. In this study, we analyze four types of rubber hoses with the inner layer made of different rubber composites to resist abrasion, i.e., Baseline, S-I, S-II and S-III. Tests of the wear resistance are carried out in the laboratory and S-III shows high abrasion resisting performance with the concrete conveying volume up to 20,000 m3 during the service life. Life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC) models are established for evaluating the four types of rubber hoses. A target function is developed to integrate LCA and LCC by converting the LCA results to the environmental costs. It is found that S-III can save 13% total cost comparing to Baseline. The production stage is the largest contributor to the environmental single score, while the use stage is the largest contributor to the life cycle cost. Sensitivity analyses are conducted and the results of this study are validated with the previous studies. The integrated method of LCA and LCC developed in this study paves a way for the eco-design of industrial rubber hoses and is potentially applicable to other rubber products. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) methylation is the most abundant post-transcription modification in eukaryotes and plays a vital role in many pathological conditions including cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and vascular inflammation. Moreover, recent studies have reported that single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) can affect the m6A modification. Therefore, we investigated the relationship between m6A-SNPs and ischemic stroke (IS) risk through integrative analysis of an IS genome-wide association study and m6A-SNP list from the m6AVar database. Next, we performed eQTL and differential expression analysis to support these IS-associated m6A-SNPs. Finally, using the identified polymorphisms, a PPI network was constructed using the STRING database, and GO and pathway enrichment analyses were performed using the DAVID online tool. Accordingly, we identified 305 IS-associated SNPs that could affect m6A methylation. Next, 158 of these SNPs were determined to have eQTL signals on local genes. We further identified 84 local genes (containing a total of 87 SNPs) that were differentially expressed in IS patients. Finally, we identified several biological processes and pathways related to IS pathogenesis, such as "leukocyte migration" and "focal adhesion." In summary, our study detected dozens of m6A-SNPs as critical functional polymorphisms and novel genetic biomarkers for IS susceptibility and provided a new means of elucidating the biological mechanism underlying IS development.
