It is normal for old architectures to come into existence in modern developing cities. At present, the relic preservation method in Taiwan has gradually turned from frozen preservation to reuse, which revives old architectures, connects them with modern functions, and eventually achieves the goal of reusing old architectures. This paper carries out the case study of the Woo Yuan Art and Culture Center in Tainan City from the perspective of space reuse aiming at (1) investigating the current usage of each space in the center and (2) further probing into the spatial features through the external observations to review the reuse of the architectures. In this study, the relevant literature is reviewed for collecting background information in the first stage, the case study method is employed for participant observation and in-depth interview to clarify the issues relevant to space reuse in the second stage, and in the third stage, the feasibility of reuse is analyzed according to the investigation results. The initial research results indicate that the space reuse of the Woo Yuan Art and Culture Center tends to lack the linking relationship with the entire urban space, that it tends to be difficult to show spatial originality due to the limitation in the spatial type of the original architecture, and that it tends to lack an overall planning to fully meet the local needs after it was eventually reused for artistic and cultural purpose.
