Background: Phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) serves as a key gateway enzyme, bridging primary metabolism and the phenylpropanoid pathway, and thus playing an indispensable role in flavonoid, anthocyanin and lignin biosynthesis. PAL gene families have been extensively studied across species using public genomes. However, a comprehensive exploration of PAL genes in Epimedium species, especially those involved in prenylated flavonol glycoside, anthocyanin, or lignin biosynthesis, is still lacking. Moreover, an in-depth investigation into PAL gene family evolution is warranted. Results: Seven PAL genes (EpPAL1-EpPAL7) were identified. EpPAL2 and EpPAL3 exhibit low sequence identity to other EpPALs (ranging from 61.09 to 64.38%) and contain two unique introns, indicating distinct evolutionary origins. They evolve at a rate ~ 10 to ~ 54 times slower compared to EpPAL1 and EpPAL4-7, suggesting strong purifying selection. EpPAL1 evolved independently and is another ancestral gene. EpPAL1 formed EpPAL4 through segmental duplication, which lead to EpPAL5 and EpPAL6 through tandem duplications, and EpPAL7 through transposed duplication, shaping modern EpPALs. Correlation analysis suggests EpPAL1, EpPAL2 and EpPAL3 play important roles in prenylated flavonol glycosides biosynthesis, with EpPAL2 and EpPAL3 strongly correlated with both Epimedin C and total prenylated flavonol glycosides. EpPAL1, EpPAL2 and EpPAL3 may play a role in anthocyanin biosynthesis in leaves. EpPAL2, EpPAL3, EpPAL6, and EpPAL7 might be engaged in anthocyanin production in petals, and EpPAL2 and EpPAL3 might also contribute to anthocyanin synthesis in sepals. Further experiments are needed to confirm these hypotheses. Novel insights into the evolution of PAL gene family suggest that it might have evolved from a monophyletic group in bryophytes to large-scale sequence differentiation in gymnosperms, basal angiosperms, and Magnoliidae. Ancestral gene duplications and vertical inheritance from gymnosperms to angiosperms likely occurred during PAL evolution. Most early-diverging eudicotyledons and monocotyledons have distinct histories, while modern angiosperm PAL gene families share similar patterns and lack distant gene types. Conclusions: EpPAL2 and EpPAL3 may play crucial roles in biosynthesis of prenylated flavonol glycosides and anthocyanins in leaves and flowers. This study provides novel insights into PAL gene family evolution. The findings on PAL genes in E. pubescens will aid in synthetic biology research on prenylated flavonol glycosides production. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the tilt and decentration of one‐piece anti‐vaulting haptic intraocular lenses (IOL) and three‐piece C‐loop haptic IOLs in paediatric eyes undergoing secondary IOL implantation into the ciliary sulcus. Methods: Paediatric aphakic patients receiving either one‐piece anti‐vaulting haptic or three‐piece C‐loop haptic IOL implants into the ciliary sulcus were enrolled in this prospective non‐randomized interventional study and followed up for 3 years. IOL decentration and tilt were measured using Scheimpflug images. Preoperative and postoperative information, including demographic data and ocular biometric parameters and complications, were collected and analysed. Results: Among 123 eyes of 79 paediatric patients, there were 72 eyes (58.54%) in the anti‐vaulting haptic IOL group and 51 eyes (41.46%) in the C‐loop haptic group. The anti‐vaulting haptic IOL group had a lower incidence of clinically significant vertical IOL decentration than the C‐loop haptic IOL group (23.88% vs. 43.14%, p = 0.037). No intergroup differences were observed in vertical or horizontal tilt or in horizontal decentration (all p > 0.05). One‐piece anti‐vaulting haptic IOL implantation was associated with a lower risk of clinically significant vertical decentration than three‐piece C‐loop haptic IOL implantation (odds ratio: 0.42, p = 0.037). There was a higher incidence of IOL dislocation in the C‐loop haptic IOL group (15.22% vs. 4.17%, p = 0.046). Conclusions: In paediatric aphakic eyes undergoing secondary IOL implantation into the ciliary sulcus, one‐piece anti‐vaulting haptic IOLs can reduce the risk of clinically significant vertical IOL decentration compared with three‐piece C‐loop haptic IOLs and may favour long‐term IOL positional stability. Objective: Poorly controlled diabetes frequently exacerbates lung infection, thereby complicating treatment strategies. Recent studies have shown that exendin-4 exhibits not only hypoglycemic but also anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to explore the role of exendin-4 in lung infection with diabetes, as well as its association with NOD1/NF-κB and the T1R2/T1R3 sweet taste receptor. Methods: 16HBE human bronchial epithelial cells cultured with 20 mM glucose were stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) isolated from Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA). Furthermore, Sprague‒Dawley rats were fed a high-fat diet, followed by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin and intratracheal instillation of PA. The levels of TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6 were evaluated using ELISAs and RT‒qPCR. The expression of T1R2, T1R3, NOD1 and NF-κB p65 was assayed using western blotting and immunofluorescence staining. Pathological changes in the lungs of the rats were observed using hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Results: At the same dose of LPS, the 20 mM glucose group produced more proinflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6) and had higher levels of T1R2, T1R3, NOD1 and NF-κB p65 than the normal control group (with 5.6 mM glucose). However, preintervention with exendin-4 significantly reduced the levels of the aforementioned proinflammatory cytokines and signaling molecules. Similarly, diabetic rats infected with PA exhibited increased levels of proinflammatory cytokines in their lungs and increased expression of T1R2, T1R3, NOD1 and NF-κB p65, and these effects were reversed by exendin-4. Conclusions: Diabetic hyperglycemia can exacerbate inflammation during lung infection, promote the increase in NOD1/NF-κB, and promote T1R2/T1R3. Exendin-4 can ameliorate PA-related pneumonia with diabetes and overexpression of NOD1/NF-κB. Additionally, exendin-4 suppresses T1R2/T1R3, potentially through its hypoglycemic effect or through a direct mechanism. Fluorescent chitin nanofibers (FChN), as a new type of promising fluorescent nanomaterials, exhibit the characteristics of low toxicity, biocompatibility, biodegradability, sustainability, and high crystallinity and mechanical modulus. However, there is a tradeoff between fluorescence and nanosizing efficiency in processing and conversion of chitin into FChN, because amino groups in chitin are easily converted into fluorescent groups during the first modification process; therefore, FChN are usually prepared with low efficiency via nanosizing first and then modification. Herein, FChN with excellent fluorescence properties were efficiently prepared via a modification-first strategy assisted by a mild and facile click chemistry of partially deacetylated chitins (DEChs). Enough amino groups (22%–30%) were retained in fluorescent DEChs by precise adjustment of reaction activity of amino–yne/hydroxy–yne click chemistry of DEChs, which was the key for the successful preparation of FChN with high efficiency of almost 98%. The first click modification process was mild and had no negative effect on the morphology of FChN, which was similar to that of unmodified chitin nanofibers. In addition, FChN dispersion showed excellent fluorescence and could be used as fluorescent inks for anti-counterfeit printing; FChN films not only showed high fluorescent stability in water, ethanol, DMF, DMSO and 8 wt% NaOH aqueous solution for 30 days, but also exhibited high stress of 200.12 ± 1.70 MPa, excellent UV-blocking properties and controlled biodegradability. This facile and efficient method provides a more sustainable strategy for preparation of functional chitin nanofibers which has high potential for application to anti-counterfeiting, biosensing and smart packaging materials. Sepsis is a life - threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection, which can be caused by a broad range of pathogens, usually represented by bacteria. In recent years, sepsis caused by viruses is often ignored, until the outbreak of COVID-19, whose severity made viral sepsis the focus of global attention. Biomarkers play an important role in the early diagnosis of sepsis. Due to the challenge of identifying the pathogen, a biomarker that can broadly distinguish viral from bacterial infections in the early stages of sepsis development has been lacking clinically. This leads to antimicrobial resistance. Therefore, this article reviews the value of procalcitonin, C-reactive protein, serum amyloid A, CD64 and calprotectin in the early differentiation of viral and bacterial sepsis, in order to provide reference for clinical medical workers and improve the understanding of viral sepsis. Phosphorus, a crucial macronutrient essential for plant growth and development. Due to widespread phosphorus deficiency in soils, phosphorus deficiency stress has become one of the major abiotic stresses that plants encounter. Despite the evolution of adaptive mechanisms in plants to address phosphorus deficiency, the specific strategies employed by species such as Epimedium pubescens remain elusive. Therefore, this study observed the changes in the growth, physiological reponses, and active components accumulation in E. pubescensunder phosphorus deficiency treatment, and integrated transcriptome and miRNA analysis, so as to offer comprehensive insights into the adaptive mechanisms employed by E. pubescens in response to phosphorus deficiency across various stages of phosphorus treatment. Remarkably, our findings indicate that phosphorus deficiency induces root growth stimulation in E. pubescens, while concurrently inhibiting the growth of leaves, which are of medicinal value. Surprisingly, this stressful condition results in an augmented accumulation of active components in the leaves. During the early stages (30 days), leaves respond by upregulating genes associated with carbon metabolism, flavonoid biosynthesis, and hormone signaling. This adaptive response facilitates energy production, ROS scavenging, and morphological adjustments to cope with short-term phosphorus deficiency and sustain its growth. As time progresses (90 days), the expression of genes related to phosphorus cycling and recycling in leaves is upregulated, and transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation (miRNA regulation and protein modification) is enhanced. Simultaneously, plant growth is further suppressed, and it gradually begins to discard and decompose leaves to resist the challenges of long-term phosphorus deficiency stress and sustain survival. In conclusion, our study deeply and comprehensively reveals adaptive strategies utilized by E. pubescens in response to phosphorus deficiency, demonstrating its resilience and thriving potential under stressful conditions. In plants, C-to-U RNA editing mainly occurs in plastid and mitochondrial transcripts, which contributes to a complex transcriptional regulatory network. More evidence reveals that RNA editing plays critical roles in plant growth and development. However, accurate detection of RNA editing sites using transcriptome sequencing data alone is still challenging. In the present study, we develop PlantC2U, which is a convolutional neural network, to predict plastid C-to-U RNA editing based on the genomic sequence. PlantC2U achieves >95% sensitivity and 99% specificity, which outperforms the PREPACT tool, random forests, and support vector machines. PlantC2U not only further checks RNA editing sites from transcriptome data to reduce possible false positives, but also assesses the effect of different mutations on C-to-U RNA editing based on the flanking sequences. Moreover, we found the patterns of tissue-specific RNA editing in the mangrove plant Kandelia obovata , and observed reduced C-to-U RNA editing rates in the cold stress response of K. obovata , suggesting their potential regulatory roles in plant stress adaptation. Aquaporins (AQPs) regulate the transport of water and other substrates, aiding plants in adapting to stressful environments. However, the knowledge of AQPs in salt‐secreting and viviparous Avicennia marina is limited. In this study, 46 AmAQPs were identified in A. marina genome, and their subcellular localisation and function in transporting H2O2 and boron were assessed through bioinformatics analysis and yeast transformation. Through analysing their expression patterns via RNAseq and real‐time quantitative polymerase chain reaction, we found that most AmAQPs were downregulated in response to salt and tidal flooding. AmPIP (1;1, 1;7, 2;8, 2;9) and AmTIP (1;5, 1;6) as salt‐tolerant candidate genes may contribute to salt secretion together with Na+/H+ antiporters. AmPIP2;1 and AmTIP1;5 were upregulated during tidal flooding and may be regulated by anaerobic‐responsive element and ethylene‐responsive element cis‐elements, aiding in adaptation to tidal inundation. Additionally, we found that the loss of the seed desiccation and dormancy‐related TIP3 gene, and the loss of the seed dormancy regulator DOG1 gene, or DOG1 protein lack heme‐binding capacity, may be genetic factors contributing to vivipary. Our findings shed light on the role of AQPs in A. marina adaptation to intertidal environments and their relevance to salt secretion and vivipary. Summary statement: AmAQPs respond to salinity and tidal inundation in Avicennia marina, some of which play a role in salt gland secretion and function as water effluxes. This paper is concerned with the attracting set of an ant colonies model with bounded noisy perturbation. This perturbation is modeled by the well-known Ornstein–Uhlenbeck process and the arc tangent function. For the random model, we first verify the existence and uniqueness of the global positive solution, and then prove the existence of the deterministic attracting set. Furthermore, in order to reveal more detailed information about the long-time behavior of the ant colonies system, we analyze the internal structure of the attracting set and provide some conditions under which coexistence (or extinction) of the ant species exists in the ant colonies system. Background: Combined serplulimab and chemotherapy demonstrated improved clinical survival outcomes in patients with advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and PD-L1 combined positive scores (CPS) ≥ 1. The present study aimed to evaluate the economic viability of integrating serplulimab in combination with chemotherapy as a potential therapeutic approach for treating ESCC in China. Methods: A Markov model was constructed to evaluate the economic and health-related implications of combining serplulimab with chemotherapy. With the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER), costs and results in terms of health were estimated. For assessing parameter uncertainty, one-way and probabilistic sensitivity studies were carried out. Results: The combination of serplulimab and chemotherapy yielded incremental costs and QALYs of $3,163 and 0.14, $2,418 and 0.10, and $3,849 and 0.15, respectively, for the overall population as well as patients with PD-L1 CPS1-10 and PD-L1 CPS ≥ 10. This corresponds to ICER values per QALY of $23,657, $23,982, and $25,134. At the prespecified WTP limit, the probabilities of serplulimab with chemotherapy being the preferred intervention option were 74.4%, 61.3%, and 78.1% for the entire patient population, those with PD-L1 1 ≤ CPS < 10, and those with PD-L1 CPS ≥ 10, respectively. The stability of the presented model was confirmed through sensitivity studies. Conclusions: In conclusion, the combination of Serplulimab and chemotherapy showed excellent cost-effectiveness compared to chemotherapy alone in treating PD-L1-positive patients with ESCC in China. Key message: This study provided important insights into the genetic architecture of variations in A. thalianaleaf ionome in a cell-type-specific manner. The functional interpretation of traits associated variants by expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) analysis is usually performed in bulk tissue samples. While the regulation of gene expression is context-dependent, such as cell-type-specific manner. In this study, we estimated cell-type abundances from 728 bulk tissue samples using single-cell RNA-sequencing dataset, and performed cis-eQTL mapping to identify cell-type-interaction eQTL (cis-eQTLs(ci)) in A. thaliana. Also, we performed Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) analyses for 999 accessions to identify the genetic basis of variations in A. thaliana leaf ionome. As a result, a total of 5,664 unique eQTL genes and 15,038 unique cis-eQTLs(ci) were significant. The majority (62.83%) of cis-eQTLs(ci) were cell-type-specific eQTLs. Using colocalization, we uncovered one interested gene AT2G25590 in Phloem cell, encoding a kind of plant Tudor-like protein with possible chromatin-associated functions, which colocalized with the most significant cis-eQTL(ci) of a Mo-related locus (Chr2:10,908,806:A:C; P = 3.27 × 10–27). Furthermore, we prioritized eight target genes associated with AT2G25590, which were previously reported in regulating the concentration of Mo element in A. thaliana. This study revealed the genetic regulation of ionomic variations and provided a foundation for further studies on molecular mechanisms of genetic variants controlling the A. thaliana ionome. The chemical modification of cellulose via sustainable pathways is highly desirable for high performance cellulose derivatives. Herein, a novel one-pot method for the etherification and self-crosslinking of cellulose is demonstrated, for the first time, by applying the mild hydroxyl–yne click reaction that occurs in a homogeneous system. Besides the benzene rings and carbonyl groups, the conjugated C＝C double bonds formed by the hydroxyl–yne click reaction were also introduced to the resulting cellulose phenyl propylene ketone ethers (CPPKs). Interestingly, the conjugated C＝C double bonds in CPPKs could crosslink via photo-dimerization reactions during the etherification of cellulose, forming chemically crosslinked CPPKs. Therefore, the CPPK films exhibited excellent mechanical properties and solvent resistance. The ultimate strength of CPPKs was 85.7 ± 1.5 MPa, 1.6 times higher than that of raw cellulose. Moreover, the CPPK films were stable in high-polarity solvents (DMSO, DMAc, and DMF) for 6 months. Furthermore, CPPKs not only exhibited excellent UV-shielding properties but also showed good UV self-reinforcing properties; both CPPK hydrogels and films displayed improved mechanical properties under UV irradiation. This work provides a sustainable one-pot method for etherification and self-crosslinking of cellulose in the homogeneous system, which imparts excellent stress, solvent resistance, UV-shielding, and UV self-reinforcement to cellulose, promoting high-value utilization of cellulose materials. To investigate the predictive value of the arterial blood lactate to serum albumin ratio (LAR) on in-hospital mortality of patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Clinical datasets of 1720 CAP patients admitted to ICU from MIMIC-IV database were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were randomly assigned to the training cohort (n=1204) and the validation cohort (n=516) in a ratio of 7:3. X-tile software was used to find the optimal cut-off value for LAR. The receiver operating curve (ROC) analysis was conducted to compare the performance between LAR and other indicators. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were applied to select prognostic factors associated with in-hospital mortality. Based on the observed prognostic factors, a nomogram model was created in training cohort, and the validation cohort was utilized to further validate the nomogram. The optimal cut-off value for LAR in CAP patients admitted to ICU was 1.6 (the units of lactate and albumin were, respectively, 'mmol/L' and 'g/dL'). The ROC analysis showed that the discrimination abilities of LAR were superior to other indicators except Sequential Organ Failure Assessment score and Simplified acute physiology score (SAPSII), which had the same abilities. Age, mean arterial pressure, SpO2, heart rate, SAPSII score, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, and LAR were found to be independent predictors of poor overall survival in the training cohort by multivariate Cox regression analysis and were incorporated into the nomogram for in-hospital mortality as independent factors. The nomogram model, exhibiting medium discrimination, had a C-index of 0.746 (95% CI = 0.715–0.777) in the training cohort and 0.716 (95% CI = 0.667–0.765) in the validation cohort. LAR could predict in-hospital mortality of patients with CAP admitted to ICU independently as a readily accessible biomarker. NAC (NAM, ATAF1/2, CUC2) transcription factors (TFs) constitute a plant-specific gene family. It is reported that NAC TFs play important roles in plant growth and developmental processes and in response to biotic/abiotic stresses. Nevertheless, little information is known about the functional and evolutionary characteristics of NAC TFs in mangrove plants, a group of species adapting coastal intertidal habitats. Thus, we conducted a comprehensive investigation for NAC TFs in Avicennia marina, one pioneer species of mangrove plants. We totally identified 142 NAC TFs from the genome of A. marina. Combined with NAC proteins having been functionally characterized in other organisms, we built a phylogenetic tree to infer the function of NAC TFs in A. marina. Gene structure and motif sequence analyses suggest the sequence conservation and transcription regulatory regions-mediated functional diversity. Whole-genome duplication serves as the driver force to the evolution of NAC gene family. Moreover, two pairs of NAC genes were identified as positively selected genes of which AmNAC010/040 may be imposed on less constraint toward neofunctionalization. Quite a few stress/hormone-related responsive elements were found in promoter regions indicating potential response to various external factors. Transcriptome data revealed some NAC TFs were involved in pneumatophore and leaf salt gland development and response to salt, flooding and Cd stresses. Gene co-expression analysis found a few NAC TFs participates in the special biological processes concerned with adaptation to intertidal environment. In summary, this study provides detailed functional and evolutionary information about NAC gene family in mangrove plant A. marina and new perspective for adaptation to intertidal habitats. In order to mitigate commutation failure of high voltage direct current (HVdc) system, a novel hybrid line commutated converter (H-LCC) based on integrated gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) and thyristor has been proposed. To verify the proposed scheme's effectiveness and correctness, the physics-based compact model of reverse blocking IGCT (RB-IGCT) and physics-based model of thyristor are established in this article. By comparing the features of physics-based model with other simulation methods, it can be observed that the former has obvious advantages. On the basis, a simulation study of proposed H-LCC based on physics compact model of RB-IGCT and physics-based model of thyristor is conducted to analyze the physical commutation characteristics comprehensively, which is verified by equivalent commutation tests. The H-LCC can mitigate commutation failure of HVdc effectively and physics-based model of H-LCC is expected to be applied in the simulation of dc grid equipment and provide reference for commutation characteristics analysis and snubber parameter optimization that need rapid and multiple simulations. Commutation failure is one of the most important factors threatening the safety of multi-infeed high voltage direct current systems. To mitigate commutation failure, we have proposed a novel hybrid line-commutated converter by adding fully controlled devices to the conventional line-commutated converter. It aims to achieve auxiliary commutation and forced commutation with the help of fully controlled devices. Based on the novel hybrid line-commutated converter topology, the study investigates how to select suitable fully controlled devices and how to design the appropriate parameters of the devices. First, this article studied the general characteristics of reverse-blocking devices, including reverse-blocking integrated gate-commutated thyristor (RB-IGCT) and asymmetrical IGCT with diode (including fast recovery diode and standard recovery diode). Then, the novel commutation principle is carefully proposed and analyzed. The comprehensive simulation results and comparison study of the novel commutation principle are conducted. Then, according to the proposed commutation principle, the voltage and current working stress of devices are illustrated. According to these, vital features of devices, including recovery speed, on-state voltage, current conduction ability, surge current, maximum turn-off current, robustness, and volume of devices, are carefully analyzed and compared. Related experiments are conducted to present the vital characteristics of devices in the equivalent operating conditions in converters. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of RB-IGCT and IGCT with fast recovery diode and standard recovery diode are comprehensively presented, which offers valuable reference considered in engineering applications. Prenylated flavonol glycosides in Epimedium plants, as key medicinal components, are known to have great pharmaceutical activities for human health. Among the main prenylated flavonol glycosides, the modification mechanism of different sugar moieties is still not well understood. In the current study, a novel prenylated flavonol rhamnoside xylosyltransferase gene (EpF3R2″XylT) was cloned from E. pubescens, and the enzymatic activity of its decoding proteins was examined in vitro with different prenylated flavonol rhamnoside substrates and different 3-O-monosaccharide moieties. Furthermore, the functional and structural domains of EpF3R2″XylT were analyzed by bioinformatic approaches and 3-D protein structure remodeling. In summary, EpF3R2″XylT was shown to cluster with GGT (glycosyltransferase that glycosylates sugar moieties of glycosides) through phylogenetic analysis. In enzymatic analysis, EpF3R2″XylT was proven to transfer xylose moiety from UDP-xylose to prenylated flavonol rhamnoside at the 2″-OH position of rhamnose. The analysis of enzymatic kinetics showed that EpF3R2″XylT had the highest substrate affinity toward icariin with the lowest Km value of 75.96 ± 11.91 mM. Transient expression of EpF3R2″XylT in tobacco leaf showed functional production of EpF3R2″XylT proteins in planta. EpF3R2″XylT was preferably expressed in the leaves of E. pubescens, which is consistent with the accumulation levels of major prenylflavonol 3-O-triglycoside. Summary: Ligand‐receptor pairs play important roles in cell–cell communication for multicellular organisms in response to environmental cues. Recently, the emergence of single‐cell RNA‐sequencing (scRNA‐seq) provides unprecedented opportunities to investigate cellular communication based on ligand‐receptor expression. However, so far, no reliable ligand‐receptor interaction database is available for plant species. In this study, we developed PlantPhoneDB (https://jasonxu.shinyapps.io/PlantPhoneDB/), a pan‐plant database comprising a large number of high‐confidence ligand‐receptor pairs manually curated from seven resources. Also, we developed a PlantPhoneDB R package, which not only provided optional four scoring approaches that calculate interaction scores of ligand‐receptor pairs between cell types but also provided visualization functions to present analysis results. At the PlantPhoneDB web interface, the processed datasets and results can be searched, browsed, and downloaded. To uncover novel cell–cell communication events in plants, we applied the PlantPhoneDB R package on GSE121619 dataset to infer significant cell–cell interactions of heat‐shocked root cells in Arabidopsis thaliana. As a result, the PlantPhoneDB predicted the actively communicating AT1G28290‐AT2G14890 ligand‐receptor pair in atrichoblast–cortex cell pair in Arabidopsis thaliana. Importantly, the downstream target genes of this ligand‐receptor pair were significantly enriched in the ribosome pathway, which facilitated plants adapting to environmental changes. This paper considers a stochastic single species population model with the Allee effect. We mainly analyze the persistence of population, and obtain the strictly critical conditions of persistence and extinction of population: When σ 2 ≥ 2 (r − a) , the population will go extinct in probability; when σ 2 < 2 (r − a) , the stochastic model possesses a unique stationary distribution which implies that the population is permanent. Main conclusion: Whole-genome duplication, gene family and lineage-specific genes analysis based on high-quality genome reveal the adaptation mechanisms of Avicennia marina to coastal intertidal habitats. Mangrove plants grow in a complex habitat of coastal intertidal zones with high salinity, hypoxia, etc. Therefore, it is an interesting question how mangroves adapt to the unique intertidal environment. Here, we present a chromosome-level genome of the Avicennia marina, a typical true mangrove with a size of 480.43 Mb, contig N50 of 11.33 Mb and 30,956 annotated protein-coding genes. We identified 621 Avicennia-specific genes that are mainly related to flavonoid and lignin biosynthesis, auxin homeostasis and response to abiotic stimulus. We found that A. marina underwent a novel specific whole-genome duplication, which is in line with a brief era of global warming that occurred during the paleocene–eocene maximum. Comparative genomic and transcriptomic analyses outline the distinct evolution and sophisticated regulations of A. marina adaptation to the intertidal environments, including expansion of photosynthesis and oxidative phosphorylation gene families, unique genes and pathways for antibacterial, detoxifying antioxidant and reactive oxygen species scavenging. In order to effectively reduce the commutation failure probability of the line commutated converter (LCC) based high-voltage direct current transmission system, a new hybrid LCC based on integrated gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) is proposed in this letter. In the proposed converter, a part of the thyristors is replaced by IGCTs. Reverse blocking IGCT is capable of withstanding bidirectional voltages and actively turning off fault currents, further interrupting the commutation failure process. The topology structure, high-power device, and the operation strategy are presented. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) can directly harvest energy via solid–liquid interface contact electrification, making them very suitable for harvesting raindrop energy and as active rainfall sensors. This technology is promising for realizing a fully self-powered system for autonomous rainfall monitoring combined with energy harvesting/sensing. Here, we report a raindrop energy-powered autonomous rainfall monitoring and wireless transmission system (R-RMS), in which a raindrop-TENG (R-TENG) array simultaneously serves as a raindrop energy harvester and rainfall sensor. At a rainfall intensity of 71 mm/min, the R-TENG array can generate an average short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage, and maximum output power of 15 μA, 1800 V, and 325 μW, respectively. The collected energy can be adjusted to act as a stable 2.5 V direct-current source for the whole system by a power management circuit. Meanwhile, the R-TENG array acts as a rainfall sensor, in which the output signal can be monitored and the measured data are wirelessly transmitted. Under a rainfall intensity of 71 mm/min, the R-RMS can be continuously powered and autonomously transmit rainfall data once every 4 min. This work has paved the way for raindrop energy-powered wireless hyetometers, which have exhibited broad prospects in unattended weather monitoring, field surveys, and the Internet of Things. The fluxgate magnetometer has the advantages of having a small volume and low power consumption and being light weight and is commonly used to detect weak magnetic targets, including ferrous metals, unexploded bombs (UXOs), and underground corrosion pipelines. However, the detection accuracy of the fluxgate magnetometer is affected by its own error. To obtain more accurate detection data, the sensor must be error-corrected before application. Previous researchers easily fell into the local minimum when solving error parameters. In this paper, the error correction method was proposed to tackle the problem, which combines the Dragonfly algorithm (DA) and the Levenberg–Marquardt (LM) algorithm, thereby solving the problem of the LM algorithm and improving the accuracy of solving error parameters. Firstly, we analyzed the error sources of the three-axis magnetic sensor and established the error model. Then, the error parameters were solved by using the LM algorithm and DA–LM algorithm, respectively. In addition, by comparing the results of the two methods, we found that the error parameters solved by using the DA–LM algorithm were more accurate. Finally, the magnetic measurement data were corrected. The simulation results show that the DA–LM algorithm can accurately solve the error parameters of the triaxial magnetic sensor, proving the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The experimental results show that the difference between the corrected and the ideal total value was decreased from 300 nT to 5 nT, which further verified the effectiveness of the DA–LM algorithm. Gate electrode inductance is a key factor for the controllable current capacity of unity-gain turn-off devices. However, the precise and credible measurement of this nH-level inductance is very difficult due to the compact structure of housing package. In this article, a precise measurement methodology of nH-level gate electrode inductance based on calculation-error-free algorithm for unity-gain turn-off devices is proposed. First, the turn-off process was modeled and discussed. Based on the feature of different stages, a customized extraction method is proposed for nH-level inductance measurement with ultrahigh accuracy. Then, a gate current measurement method for separate cathode rings with minimum inductance introduction was invented and discussed. After careful measurement and calculation, the gate electrode inductance for each region was derived and the abrupt change in gate contact region was observed and analyzed. Loss-of-function mutations in sorting nexin 14 (SNX14) cause autosomal recessive spinocerebellar ataxia 20, which is a form of early-onset cerebellar ataxia that lacks molecular mechanisms and mouse models. We generated Snx14 -deficient mouse models and observed severe motor deficits and cell-autonomous Purkinje cell degeneration. SNX14 deficiency disrupted microtubule organization and mitochondrial transport in axons by destabilizing the microtubule-severing enzyme spastin, which is implicated in dominant hereditary spastic paraplegia with cerebellar ataxia, and compromised axonal integrity and mitochondrial function. Axonal transport disruption and mitochondrial dysfunction further led to degeneration of high-energy-demanding Purkinje cells, which resulted in the pathogenesis of cerebellar ataxia. The antiepileptic drug valproate ameliorated motor deficits and cerebellar degeneration in Snx14 -deficient mice via the restoration of mitochondrial transport and function in Purkinje cells. Our study revealed an unprecedented role for SNX14-dependent axonal transport in cerebellar ataxia, demonstrated the convergence of SNX14 and spastin in mitochondrial dysfunction, and suggested valproate as a potential therapeutic agent. Genome‐wide association studies (GWAS) have reported a handful of loci associated with lung cancer risk, of which the pathogenic pathways are largely unknown. We performed cis‐expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) mapping for 376 lung cancer related GWAS loci in 227 TCGA lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and reported two risk loci as eQTL of miRNA. Among the miRNAs in association with lung cancer risk, we further predicted and validated miR‐3130‐5p as an intermediate modulator of risk loci 2q33 and the tumor suppressor NDUFS1. We assessed the phenotypic impacts of the interaction between miR‐3130‐5p and NDUFS1 in both lung cancer cell lines and mice xenograft models. As a result, miR‐3130‐5p directly regulates the expression of NDUFS1 and the corresponding tumor invasiveness, migration and epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). Our findings provide important clues for the pathogenic mechanism of 2q33 in lung carcinogenesis which informs clinical diagnosis and prognosis of LUAD. Background: Allelic imbalance (AI) in tumors is caused by chromosomal and sub-chromosomal gains and losses. Results: We evaluated AI at 109,086 germline exonic SNP loci in four cancer types, and identified a set of SNPs that demonstrate strong tumor allele specificity in AI events. Further analyses demonstrated that these alleles show consistently different frequencies in the cancer population compared to the healthy population and are significantly enriched for predicted protein-damaging variants. Moreover, genes harboring SNPs that demonstrate allele specificity are enriched for cancer-related biological processes and are more likely to be essential in cancer cells. Background: Overexpressed vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) and phosphorylated signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (P-STAT3) cause unrestricted tumor growth and angiogenesis of breast cancer (BRCA), especially triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Hence, novel treatment strategy is urgently needed. Results: We found sphingosine 1 phosphate receptor 1 (S1PR1) can regulate P-STAT3/VEGFA. Database showed S1PR1 is highly expressed in BRCA and causes the poor prognosis of patients. Interrupting the expression of S1PR1 could inhibit the growth of human breast cancer cells (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231) and suppress the angiogenesis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) via affecting S1PR1/P-STAT3/VEGFA axis. Siponimod (BAF312) is a selective antagonist of S1PR1, which inhibits tumor growth and angiogenesis in vitro by downregulating the S1PR1/P-STAT3/VEGFA axis. We prepared pH-sensitive and tumor-targeted shell-core structure nanoparticles, in which hydrophilic PEG2000 modified with the cyclic Arg-Gly-Asp (cRGD) formed the shell, hydrophobic DSPE formed the core, and CaP (calcium and phosphate ions) was adsorbed onto the shell; the nanoparticles were used to deliver BAF312 (BAF312@cRGD-CaP-NPs). The size and potential of the nanoparticles were 109.9 ± 1.002 nm and − 10.6 ± 0.056 mV. The incorporation efficacy for BAF312 was 81.4%. Results confirmed BAF312@cRGD-CaP-NP could dramatically inhibit tumor growth and angiogenesis in vitro and in MDA-MB-231 tumor-bearing mice via downregulating the S1PR1/P-STAT3/VEGFA axis. Human motions, such as joint/spinal bending or stretching, often contain information that is useful for orthopedic/neural disease diagnosis, rehabilitation, and prevention. Here, we show a badge-reel-like stretch sensing device with a grating-structured triboelectric nanogenerator exhibiting a stretching sensitivity of 8 V mm−1, a minimum resolution of 0.6 mm, a low hysteresis, and a high durability (over 120 thousand cycles). Experimental and theoretical investigations are performed to define the key features of the device. Studies from human natural daily activities and exercise demonstrate the functionality of the sensor for real-time recording of knee/arm bending, neck/waist twisting, and so on. We also used the device in a spinal laboratory, monitoring human subjects' spine motions, and validated the measurements using the commercial inclinometer and hunchback instrument. We anticipate that the lightweight, precise and durable stretch sensor applied to spinal monitoring could help mitigate the risk of long-term abnormal postural habits induced diseases. Epimedium L. is an important genus in the family Berberidaceae. Epimedium trifoliolatobinatum (Koidz.) Koidz. 1939 is inhabited on the west side of the Shikoku, Japan. In this study, the first complete chloroplast genome of E. trifoliolatobinatum was assembled with Illumina paired-end sequencing data, which was 157,272 bp in length with a total GC content of 38.70%. A total of 112 unique genes were annotated, comprising 78 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. The phylogenetic analysis suggested that E. trifoliolatobinatum was sister to E. koreanum. Chemical modification of cellulose to prepare functional cellulose derivatives could enable the utilization of cellulose in various promising applications. However, the conventional methods for cellulose functionalization suffer from severe drawbacks, especially the environmental aspects, due to the use of toxic reagents and the generation of large amounts of waste. Herein, a more sustainable way, the novel hydroxyl–yne click reaction, is proposed to synthesize cellulose derivatives. The hydroxyl groups of ethyl cellulose (EC) were reacted with the alkyne groups of 1-phenyl-2-propargyl-1-ketone (PPK) at room temperature for preparing new kinds of ethyl cellulose phenyl propylene ketone ether derivatives (ECPPKs). More than 80% substitution was rapidly completed within the first 5 min and 82% of the residual hydroxyl groups (–OHC3) in EC could be substituted, demonstrating the high efficiency of the hydroxyl–yne click reaction for the modification of cellulosic materials. FTIR and NMR results proved the successful grafting of PPK via a vinyl ether linkage (–C–O–C＝C–). The introduction of PPK moieties widened the temperature window for the melt processing of cellulose, which is beneficial for the thermo processing of cellulosic materials. Furthermore, owing to the existence of the newly formed vinyl ether linkage, ECPPKs showed almost 100% shielding ratio for UV light and visible light (420 nm) excited fluorescence properties. This facile and efficient method provides a more sustainable strategy for the functionalization of cellulosic materials, expanding its application in UV-blocking and fluorescent material fields. Based on the fact that the continuous culture of microorganisms in a chemostat is subject to environmental noises, we present and analyze a stochastic competition chemostat model with general monotonic response functions and differential removal rates. The existence and boundedness of the unique positive solution are first obtained. By defining a stochastic break-even concentration for every species, we prove that at most one competitor survives in the chemostat and the winner has the smallest stochastic break-even concentration, provided its response function satisfies a technical assumption. That is to say, the competitive exclusion principle holds for the stochastic competition chemostat model. Furthermore, we find that the noise experienced by one species is adverse to its growth while may be favorable for the growth of other one species. Compared with insulated-gate bipolar transistors, integrated-gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) has lower on-state voltage, higher reliability, and lower manufacturing costs, thus, making it more suitable for high-power applications. This article focuses on the full-time junction temperature extraction of IGCTs for high-power applications. An electrothermal model for IGCT is established. Nonlinear optimization and accuracy analysis of this model are performed, which proved that the model achieves good accuracy. On the basis of the electrothermal model, junction temperature during switching on, switching off, and off state is evaluated. The junction temperature during conduction is extracted based on the temperature-sensitive electrical parameter method. Combining these two schemes, a comprehensive method to extract full-time accurate junction temperature of IGCT for high-power application is proposed. An experimental platform of IGCT-based modular multilevel converters for high-power applications is built, and power cycling experiments at different voltage and current ratings of up to 2.2 kV/1.5 kA were carried out to verify the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed method. Results show the junction temperature profile over a long period. Lapping and polishing technology is an efficient processing method for wafer planarization processing. The structure of the fixed abrasive pad (FAP) is one of the most concerning issues in the research. The FAP structure affects the pressure distribution on the wafer surface, and the pressure distribution during processing has a significant influence on the wafer surface. Therefore, in this paper, a better pressure distribution is obtained by adjusting the angle of the spiral arrangement and the damping distribution of the damping layer of the FAP, thereby obtaining better processing quality. Based on the above theory, a new type of FAP, with coupling between the arrangement of the pellets and the damping regulation of the damping layer, was designed and optimized. The machining effects of different FAPs on the workpiece surface are compared in terms of material removal rate, material removal thickness, and surface roughness. The test results show that the workpiece material removal rate is higher than that of the traditional FAP when using the optimized FAP. The non-uniformity of the optimized FAP for that of material removal was 4.034 µm , which was lower than the traditional FAPs by 24.4 % and 17.6 %, respectively. The average surface roughness, Ra, of the optimized FAP is 0.21 µm , which is lower than 19.1 % and 12.5 % of the two traditional FAPs, respectively. Therefore, workpiece material removal and distribution are more uniform, and the surface quality of the workpiece is better when the optimized FAP processing is used. The test results prove that the optimized pellet arrangement and damping can achieve a better surface quality of the workpiece, which can meet the precision lapping process requirements for high-quality surfaces and large-scale production of brittle and hard materials such as sapphire. Epimedium L. is an important medicinal herbaceous genus that belongs to the family Berberidaceae. Epimedium campanulatum Ogisu is a plant species only inhabited in the northwestern part of Sichuan province, China. Here, we reported the complete chloroplast genome sequence, assembly, and characterization of E. campanulatum. The chloroplast genome of E. campanulatum was 157,343 bp in length, and a total of 112 unique genes were identified. Phylogenetic results revealed that E. campanulatum formed a sister relationship with the cluster of Epimedium ecalcaratum, Epimedium davidii, and Epimedium chlorandrum. Existing multiterminal voltage source converter based high voltage dc projects are constructed by separate modular multilevel converter (MMC) and dc breaker (DCB) utilizing insulated gate bipolar transistors. However, the MMC requires high-surge thyristors and the DCB should be equipped with very large turn-off solid-state switch against fault. Their independent operations are complex and unreliable by two separate control systems. In this letter, a novel converter-breaker integrated voltage source converter (IVSC) based on high-surge integrated gate commutated thyristor is proposed, and to integrate the converter and breaker operation, the fault self-clearing strategy is developed. IVSC can get rid of thyristors and replace DCB with small turn-off capability load switch. This converter-breaker integration can result in advantages including lower manufacturing cost and volume. We consider a Richards growth model (modified logistic model) driven by correlated multiplicative and additive colored noises, and investigate the effects of noises on the eventual distribution of population size with the help of steady-state analysis. An approximative Fokker–Planck equation is first derived for the stochastic model. By performing detailed theoretical analysis and numerical simulation for the steady-state solution of the Fokker–Planck equation, i.e., stationary probability distribution (SPD) of the stochastic model, we find that the correlated noises have complex effects on the statistical property of the stochastic model. Specifically, the phenomenological bifurcation may be caused by the noises. The position of extrema of the SPD depends on the model parameter and the characters of noises in different ways. Many cancer risk loci act as expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs) of transcripts including non-coding RNA. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are implicated in various human cancers. However, the pathological and clinical impacts of the genetic determinants of lncRNAs in cancers remain largely unknown. In this study, we performed eQTL mapping of lncRNA expression (elncRNA) in 11 TCGA cancer types and characterized the biological processes of elncRNAs in the setting of genomic location, cancer treatment responses, and immune microenvironment. As a result, 10.86% of the cis -eQTLs and 1.67% of the trans -eQTLs of lncRNA were related to known genome-wide association studies (GWAS) cancer risk loci. The elncRNAs are significantly enriched for those which are previously annotated as predictive of drug sensitivities in cancer cell lines. We further revealed the downstream transcriptomic effectors of eQTL-elncRNA pairs. Our data specifically suggested that the genes affected by eQTL-elncRNA associations are enriched in the immune system processes and eQTL-elncRNA associations influence the constitution of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes. In ovarian cancer, the "rs34631313-AC092580.4" pair was associated with increased fraction of CD8+ T cells and M1 Macrophage; whereas in KIRC, the "rs9546285-LINC00426" pair was associated with increased fraction of CD8+ T cells and a decreased fraction of M2 macrophages. Our findings provide a systematic view of the transcriptomic impacts of the eQTL landscape of lncRNA in human cancers and suggest its strong potential relevance to cancer immunity and treatment. Here, we sequenced and assembled the first complete chloroplast genome of Epimedium fargesii Franch. The chloroplast genome of E. fargesii was 157,208 bp in length, with a total GC content of 38.77%. A total of 112 unique genes were identified, including 78 protein-coding genes, 30 tRNA genes, and four rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that E. fargesii formed a sister relationship with E. wushanense T. S. Ying. In lithium-ion batteries, the volume change of anode materials will result in fracture of solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) during continuous lithiation and delithiation. Herein, an analytical model has been developed to determine the fracture mechanism of the SEI and the fatigue in lithium-ion batteries. The evolution of diffusion-induced stresses and concentration have been evaluated. In addition, surface effects are found to effectively reduce the stresses and the crack propagation in SEI during lithiation. With combined energy release rate, the critical thickness of SEI is also established to prevent crack propagation. Finally, the capacity fade of lithium-ion batteries during cycling may be predicted using fatigue model. It is found that the depths of discharge (DODs) are closely related to the capacity fade of lithium-ion batteries. Overall, this work may provide physical understanding for optimized structural design to alleviate the SEI fracture and the fatigue of the lithium-ion batteries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
