Objective: To elucidate the chemical profile of Xanthocerais lignum’s extracts of different polarities and their impact on rheumatoid arthritis (RA), we identified anti-RA markers and predicted their action mechanisms. Methods: A collagen-induced arthritis rat model was established, and UPLCQ-Exactive Orbitrap MS technology was employed to analyze and identify the chemical constituents within the alcohol extract of Xanthocerais lignum and its various extraction fractions, as well as their translocation into the bloodstream. Serum spectrum–effect correlation analysis was utilized to elucidate the pharmacodynamic material basis of Xanthocerais lignum against RA and to screen for Q-Markers. Finally, the potential anti-RA mechanisms of the Q-Markers were predicted through compound-target interaction data and validated using molecular docking techniques. Results: We identified 71 compounds, with flavan-3-ols and flavanones as key components. Of these, 36 were detected in the bloodstream, including 17 original and 19 metabolized forms. Proanthocyanidin A2, dihydroquercetin, catechin, and epicatechin (plus glucuronides) showed potential anti-RA activity. These compounds, acting as Q-Markers, may modulate ERK, NF-κB, HIF-1α, and VEGF in the HIF-1 pathway. Conclusions: This research clarifies Xanthocerais lignum’s pharmacodynamic material basis against RA, identifies 4 Q-Markers, and offers insights into their mechanisms, aiding quality assessment and lead compound development for RA treatment. Gastric cancer (GC) imposes a heavy burden on global public health, and microRNAs (miRNAs) play a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of GC. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the hotspots and frontiers in the field of miRNAs in GC to guide future research. A total of 2,051 publications related to miRNAs in GC from January 2013 to December 2023 were searched from the Web of Science Core Collection database. CiteSpace was used to identify research hotspots and delineate developmental trends. In the past decade, China, Nanjing Medical University, and Ba Yi were the most contributing research country, institute, and author in this field, respectively. The role of miRNAs as biomarkers in GC, the mechanism of miRNAs in the progression of GC, and the impact of the mutual effects between miRNAs and Helicobacter pylori on GC have been regarded as the research hotspots. The mechanisms of miRNAs on glucose metabolism and the application of the roles of circular RNAs as miRNA sponges in GC treatment will likely be frontiers. Overall, this study called for strengthened cooperation to identify targets and therapeutic regimes for local specificity and high-risk GC types, and to promote the translation of research results into clinical practice. Water-stable silk fibroin (SF) films are normally prepared by transforming the secondary structure of SF, from amorphous silk I (random coils) to silk II (β-sheet), via physical or chemical means. Although mechanically strong, these films are generally brittle. Herein, we prepared water-stable flexible SF films possessing silk I rather than silk II structure. Films were prepared by casting SF solution possessing SF nanoparticles induced by two different methods: (1) pre-prepared SF nanoparticles by ethanol were added into SF solution; (2) nanoparticles were induced in SF solution via autoclaving. These films were compared with each other and with water-annealed and methanol-annealed films for their secondary structure and physical properties. The as-prepared films were primarily composed of silk I structure, as validated by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. However, the water-annealed and methanol-annealed films exhibited silk II structure. The films prepared by induction of nanoparticles were water-stable, transparent, mechanically strong (tensile strength as high as 5.14 ± 1.43 MPa), exhibited tunable degradation and sustained drug release properties. As for mechanical properties, these films displayed 4 times and 12 times improved mechanical ductility as compared with water-annealed and methanol-annealed films, respectively. Moreover, these films exhibited fast enzymatic degradation as compared with their counterparts with silk II structure. Background: Aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) scavenges toxic aldehyde molecules by catalyzing the oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids. Although ALDH gene family members in various plants have been extensively studied and were found to regulate plant response to abiotic stress, reports on ALDH genes in the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) are limited. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of neutral (NS) and basic alkaline (AS) stresses on growth, physiological and biochemical indices, and ALDH activity, ALDH gene expression of common bean. In addition, We used bioinformatics techniques to analyze the physical and chemical properties, phylogenetic relationships, gene replication, collinearity, cis-acting elements, gene structure, motifs, and protein structural characteristics of PvALDH family members. Results: We found that both NS and AS stresses weakened the photosynthetic performance of the leaves, induced oxidative stress, inhibited common bean growth, and enhanced the antioxidative system to scavenge reactive oxygen species. Furthermore, we our findings revealed that ALDH in the common bean actively responds to NS or AS stress by inducing the expression of PvALDH genes. In addition, using the established classification criteria and phylogenetic analysis, 27 PvALDHs were identified in the common bean genome, belonging to 10 ALDH families. The primary expansion mode of PvALDH genes was segmental duplication. Cis-acting elemental analysis showed that PvALDHs were associated with abiotic stress and phytohormonal responses. Gene expression analysis revealed that the PvALDH gene expression was tissue-specific. For instance, PvALDH3F1 and PvALDH3H1 were highly expressed in flower buds and flowers, respectively, whereas PvALDH3H2 and PvALDH2B4 were highly expressed in green mature pods and young pods, respectively. PvALDH22A1 and PvALDH11A2 were highly expressed in leaves and young trifoliates, respectively; PvALDH18B2 and PvALDH18B3 were highly expressed in stems and nodules, respectively; and PvALDH2C2 and PvALDH2C3 were highly expressed in the roots. PvALDHs expression in the roots responded positively to NS-AS stress, and PvALDH2C3, PvALDH5F1, and PvALDH10A1 were significantly (P < 0.05) upregulated in the roots. Conclusion: These results indicate that AS stress causes higher levels of oxidative damage than NS stress, resulting in weaker photosynthetic performance and more significant inhibition of common bean growth. The influence of PvALDHs potentially modulates abiotic stress response, particularly in the context of saline-alkali stress. Auditory dorsal and ventral pathways in the human brain play important roles in supporting speech and language processing. However, the evolutionary root of the dual auditory pathways in the primate brain is unclear. By parcellating the auditory cortex of marmosets (a New World monkey species), macaques (an Old World monkey species), and humans using the same individual-based analysis method and tracking the pathways from the auditory cortex based on multi-shell diffusion-weighted MRI (dMRI), homologous auditory dorsal and ventral fiber tracks were identified in these primate species. The ventral pathway was found to be well conserved in all three primate species analyzed but extend to more anterior temporal regions in humans. In contrast, the dorsal pathway showed a divergence between monkey and human brains. First, frontal regions in the human brain have stronger connections to the higher-level auditory regions than to the lower-level auditory regions along the dorsal pathway, while frontal regions in the monkey brain show opposite connection patterns along the dorsal pathway. Second, the left lateralization of the dorsal pathway is only found in humans. Moreover, the connectivity strength of the dorsal pathway in marmosets is more similar to that of humans than macaques. These results demonstrate the continuity and divergence of the dual auditory pathways in the primate brains along the evolutionary path, suggesting that the putative neural networks supporting human speech and language processing might have emerged early in primate evolution. Separation process is one of the key processes in the production of fruit spirits, including the traditional distillation method and the new pervaporation membrane method. The separation process significantly determines the constituents and proportions of compounds in the fruit spirit, which has a significant impact on the spirit quality and consumer acceptance. Therefore, it is important and complex to reveal the changing rules of chemical substances and the principles behind them during the separation process of fruit spirits. This review summarized the traditional separation methods commonly used in fruit spirits, covering the types, principles, and corresponding equipment of distillation methods, focused on the enrichment or removal of aroma compounds and harmful factors in fruit spirits by distillation methods, and tried to explain the mechanism behind it. It also proposed a new separation technology for the production of fruit spirits, pervaporation membrane technology, summarized its working principle, operation, working parameters, and application in the production of fruit spirits, and outlined the impact of the separation method on the production of fruit spirits based on existing research, focusing on the separation of flavor compounds, sensory qualities, and hazard factors in fruit spirits, along with a preliminary comparison with distillation. Finally, according to the current researches of the separation methods and the development requirement of the separation process of fruit spirits, the prospect of corresponding research is put forward, in order to propose new ideas and development directions for the research in this field. Cytokine storm" is common in critically ill COVID-19 patients, however, mechanisms remain largely unknown. Here, we reported that overexpression of SARS-CoV-2 N protein in diabetic db/db mice significantly increased tubular death and the release of HMGB1, one of the damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), to trigger M1 proinflammatory macrophage activation and production of IL-6, TNF-α, and MCP-1 via a Mincle-Syk/NF-κB-dependent mechanism. This was further confirmed in vitro that overexpression of SARSCoV-2 N protein caused the release of HMGB1 from injured tubular cells under high AGE conditions, which resulted in M1 macrophage activation and production of proinflammatory cytokines via a Mincle-Syk/NF-κB-dependent mechanism. This was further evidenced by specifically silencing macrophage Mincle to block HMGB1-induced M1 macrophage activation and production of IL-6, TNF-α, and MCP-1 in vitro. Importantly, we also uncovered that treatment with quercetin largely improved SARS-CoV-2 N protein-induced AKI in db/db mice. Mechanistically, we found that quercetin treatment significantly inhibited the release of a DAMP molecule HMGB1 and inactivated M1 pro-inflammatory macrophage while promoting reparative M2 macrophage responses by suppressing Mincle-Syk/NF-κB signaling in vivo and in vitro. In conclusion, SARSCoV-2 N protein-induced AKI in db/db mice is associated with Mincledependent M1 macrophage activation. Nowadays, the Flipped Classroom (FC) as a new model has become a trend in education especially due to the popularity of online education. Besides, today, social networking has found its way into education so that teachers and learners can use social media as a platform to streamline the educational process. Indeed, social networking has also become a well -known way of teaching that is shifting education while teachers and students work together in class. Furthermore, learners are often provided with new opportunities through social network platforms, and access to new models of communication to interact. Building on self-determination theories, the literature review considers the teachers‟ motivation as one of the pivotal concerns about FC and it also puts more emphasis on the role of teachers‟ engagement in higher education. Consequently, this review makes an effort to consider both issues, namely teachers‟ motivation, and engagement within the process of FC through social networking. Overall, some implications are suggested for language stakeholders in an educational environment to consider the important issues in the process of implementing FC such as various kinds of educational platforms to increase their motivation and engagement. Objective: Despite the use of renin-angiotensin system blockade and immunosuppressive drugs, including corticosteroids, the current treatment regimens for Immunoglobulins A nephropathy (IgAN) are severely limited. The proliferation of mesangial cell and deposition of deglycosylated human IgA1 immune complex are the most common pathologic features of IgAN. We examined the tetrandrine potential of suppressing the proliferation of mesangial cells and explored its underlying mechanisms with a focus on IgA receptor/MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway. Methods: Standard human IgA (native IgA) were enzymatically desialylated (deS IgA) or further degalactosylated (deS/deGal IgA) using neuraminidase and β-galactosidase. Rat glomerular mesangial cells (HBZY-1) and human renal mesangial cells (HRMC) stimulated by IgA were used to observe the suppressive effect of tetrandrine. The MTT assay was used to detect the cell viability. The protein expression of IgA receptor/MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway was examined by Western blot. Cell cycle analysis was measured by flow cytometer. Results: Native IgA and deS IgA showed limited stimulation effect on both HBZY-1 cells and HRMCs, whereas deS/deGal IgA significantly stimulated the proliferation of both HBZY-1 cells and HRMCs (p < 0.05). Compared with non-stimulation of deS/deGal IgA, 1-3 μM of tetrandrine had stronger inhibitory effect on the proliferation of HBZY-1 cells and HRMCs with the stimulation of deS/deGal IgA (p < 0.05), suggesting that tetrandrine possibly inhibited the proliferation of mesangial cells induced by deglycosylated human IgA1 specifically. Molecular mechanism study revealed that tetrandrine decreased the expression of IgA1 receptor, CD71 and β4GALT1, and inhibited the activation of MAPK/NF-κB significantly (p < 0.05). Moreover, these inhibitory effect of tetrandrine caused cell cycle arrest and stopped the cell growth in the S phase companied with the upregulating of cyclin A2 and downregulating of cyclin D1. Conclusion: Taken together, tetrandrine inhibited the proliferation of mesangial cells induced by enzymatically deglycosylated human IgA1 via IgA receptor/MAPK/NF-κB signaling pathway. How humans and animals segregate sensory information into discrete, behaviorally meaningful categories is one of the hallmark questions in neuroscience. Much of the research around this topic in the auditory system has centered around human speech perception, in which categorical processes result in an enhanced sensitivity for acoustically meaningful differences and a reduced sensitivity for nonmeaningful distinctions. Much less is known about whether nonhuman primates process their species-specific vocalizations in a similar manner. We address this question in the common marmoset, a small arboreal New World primate with a rich vocal repertoire produced across a range of behavioral contexts. We first show that marmosets perceptually categorize their vocalizations in ways that correspond to previously defined call types for this species. Next, we show that marmosets are differentially sensitive to changes in particular acoustic features of their most common call types and that these sensitivity differences are matched to the population statistics of their vocalizations in ways that likely maximize category formation. Finally, we show that marmosets are less sensitive to changes in these acoustic features when within the natural range of variability of their calls, which possibly reflects perceptual specializations which maintain existing call categories. These findings suggest specializations for categorical vocal perception in a New World primate species and pave the way for future studies examining their underlying neural mechanisms. Objective: The study aimed to analyze the research status, hotspots, and frontiers of global research on cancer and sleep through bibliometrics and provide references and guidance for future research. Methods: The literature regarding cancer and sleep from 2002 to 2022 was searched from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. CiteSpace 5.6.R3 was performed for visualization analysis. Results: A total of 1,172 publications were identified. The number of publications in the field has gradually increased over the past two decades. The United States had themost prominent contributions. TaipeiMedical University and the University of California, San Francisco, and David Gozal were the most prolific institutions and author, respectively. The most published academic journal was Supportive Care in Cancer. The research hotspots can be summarized into the symptom cluster intervention for cancer survivors and the association between cancer and melatonin and/or obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The complex interaction between cancer and sleep disruption and the influencing factors of sleep quality may be the emerging trends of research. Conclusion: This study systematically analyzed the hotspots and frontiers in the field of cancer and sleep and called for strengthening cooperation among countries, institutions, and authors. In addition, intervention measures for the cancer symptom cluster, the bioavailability of exogenous melatonin, the causal relationship between OSA and cancer, the mechanism of tumor-induced sleep disruption, the dose-response relationship between sleep duration and cancer risk, and the path relationship between sleep quality influencing factors may be the focus of future research. Teacher emotions are essential for teaching effectiveness and teachers’ professional development. Studying teacher emotions during a program in today’s world is crucial, where teachers are commonly involved in professional development programs. From an ecological perspective, this study employed a case study method to examine the emotions of two Chinese high school mathematics teachers in a 4-year teaching improvement program. Semi-structured interviews, teacher emotion logs, researcher memos, and informal dialogues were all used to collect data. This study aimed to better understand the emotions that Chinese high school mathematics teachers developed and the processes that generated them in their interactions with various ecosystems within a specific professional development program overlay. The study’s findings revealed that the two teachers triggered 65 emotions in their interactions with the various ecosystems over 4 years—A describing 51 and B describing 46—with an overall predominance of positive emotions. They triggered the broadest range of emotions in the mesosystem, particularly during interactions with program companions. During the early, medium, and late stages, their internal psychological factors and interactions with each system changed, resulting in significant changes in their emotions. They all went through phases of mixed sadness and happiness, ending in a state of delight and calmness. Finally, we recommended teachers’ professional development based on the study’s findings. Plants belonging to the Oxytropis genus, family Leguminosae, are found throughout the world, with about 80 species mainly distributed in northwest and northeast China. The plants have medicinal properties and many plants have been used as folk medicine for the treatment of colds, inflammation of carbuncle swelling, pain, and different types of bleeding. In recent years, due to the reduced availability of wild resources and increased clinical demand, additionalOxytropis species have been used inMongolianmedicine. This study explored the medicinal potential of four Oxytropis species, investigating their phylogeny, chemical components, and pharmacological activities. Oxytropis myriophylla (Pall) DC., Oxytropis hirta Bunge, and Oxytropis bicolor Bge. were found to be closely related at the taxonomic level. While previous investigations on the bioactive constituents of Oxytropis have been limited and have concentrated largely on flavonoids and saponins, the present study established a novel UHPLC-Q-TOF/MS based on metabolite profiling to comprehensively analyze the chemical composition of the four Oxytropis species and to identify marker compounds. A total of 75 compounds were identified from the four species, with 23 identified as characteristic marker components. Twenty-six marker compounds were identified in O. myriophylla from different geographical regions. Analysis of pharmacological activity showed that extracts of O. myriophylla and O. hirta had stronger anti-inflammatory activity than the extracts from the other species. The relationships between the chemical components, traditional curative uses, and pharmacological activities were analyzed to provide a preliminary documentation of the pharmacophylogenetic characteristics of the Oxytropis family as a whole. Several marker compounds, including licoricesaponin G2, licoricesaponin J2, and glycyrrhizic acid found in O. hirta were found to have effective anti-inflammatory activity, consistent with the traditional application of reducing swelling and healing wounds. Chloroplast ribulose-5-phosphate-3-epimerase (RPE) is a critical enzyme involved in the Calvin-Benson cycle and oxidative pentose phosphate pathways in higher plants. Three Arabidopsis rpe mutants with reduced level of RPE were identified through their high NPQ (nonphotochemical quenching) phenotype upon illumination, and no significant difference of plant size was found between these rpe mutants and WT (wild type) plants under growth chamber conditions. A decrease in RPE expression to a certain extent leads to a decrease in CO2 fixation, Vcmax and Jmax. Photosynthetic linear electron transport was partially inhibited and activity of ATP synthase was also decreased in the rpe mutants, but the levels of thylakoid protein complexes and other Calvin-Benson cycle enzymes in rpe mutants were not affected. These results demonstrate that some degree of reduction in RPE expression decreases carbon fixation in chloroplasts, which in turn feedback inhibits photosynthetic electron transport and ATP synthase activity due to the photosynthetic control. Unsupervised hashing has attracted much attention for binary representation learning due to the requirement of economical storage and efficiency of binary codes. It aims to encode high-dimensional features in the Hamming space with similarity preservation between instances. However, most existing methods learn hash functions in manifold-based approaches. Those methods capture the local geometric structures (i.e., pairwise relationships) of data, and lack satisfactory performance in dealing with real-world scenarios that produce similar features (e.g., color and shape) with different semantic information. To address this challenge, in this work, we propose an effective unsupervised method, namely, Jointly Personalized Sparse Hashing (JPSH), for binary representation learning. To be specific, first, we propose a novel personalized hashing module, i.e., Personalized Sparse Hashing (PSH). Different personalized subspaces are constructed to reflect category-specific attributes for different clusters, adaptively mapping instances within the same cluster to the same Hamming space. In addition, we deploy sparse constraints for different personalized subspaces to select important features. We also collect the strengths of the other clusters to build the PSH module with avoiding over-fitting. Then, to simultaneously preserve semantic and pairwise similarities in our proposed JPSH, we incorporate the proposed PSH and manifold-based hash learning into the seamless formulation. As such, JPSH not only distinguishes the instances from different clusters but also preserves local neighborhood structures within the cluster. Finally, an alternating optimization algorithm is adopted to iteratively capture analytical solutions of the JPSH model. We apply the proposed representation learning algorithm JPSH to the similarity search task. As global health care demand continues to increase, medicinal plant productivity must progress without exhausting critical environmental resources. Hence, it is important to explore practices that can improve the quality, safety, and sustainability of medicinal plants, as well as ecological stability. Organic farming has recently gained significance as a sustainable cultivation alternative owing to increased awareness of the adverse effects of conventional cultivation method. Here, this study aimed to investigate the feasibility of organic farming as a solution for sustainable cultivation of medicinal plants from multiple perspectives and long-term benefits to the environment. Organic agricultural practices of medicinal plants were evaluated from a multi-dimensional perspective (environment, economy, and society) using extensive research data and literature and field surveys. Data from medicinal plant cultivation in Inner Mongolia were acquired for 76 sites from four data stations between 2014 and 2021. Data analysis revealed that organic medicinal plants can improve safety by reducing pesticide exposure risks. Simultaneously, organic agriculture of medicinal plants can improve biodiversity by effectively reducing pesticide and fertilizer use, which also provides natural safe products for health care. With the improvement of quality, the retail price will have a certain advantage, which will improve the income of farmers. Moreover, organic agriculture enhanced profitability because of the higher organic premium on medicinal plant products and improved ecosystem stability by increasing plant diversity. The findings of this study suggest that organic cultivation strategies can improve the quality and safety of medicinal plants and further provide a basis for promoting the sustainable development and ecological stability of medicinal plants. However, not all medicinal plant cultivators are guaranteed to adopt organic farming practices, but if all technological elements are correctly applied, the system can be maintained sustainably to expand the area of organically cultivated plants in the future. The aim of this study was to investigate imaging features of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), pathological features of thrombus, and expression of nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptors protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome in acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Their relationship with the prognosis of patients was also explored. Sixty patients with AIS admitted to the hospital were selected as the observation group, and 20 healthy objects were in the control group. The shape of the thrombus was observed by MRI, pathological features of the thrombus were observed under hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining, and the levels of NLRP3 inflammasome and inflammatory factors in serum were detected. The MRI-T2 weighted imaging (T2WI) signal ratio and plaque enhancement rate in the observation group were higher than those in the control group significantly (P < 0.05). In the observation group, the red/mixed thrombus in 6-12 h and 24 h were also much higher than that in 6 h (P < 0.05). The levels of NLRP3, interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-18 (IL-18), and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the observation group were higher than those in the control group in 6 h, 6-12 h, and 24 h (P < 0.05), and those reached the highest levels in 24 h. The ratio of fibrins/platelets in the cardiogenic thrombus reached (63.8 ± 15.6) %, which was significantly higher than that in the large-artery atherosclerotic thrombus (49.5 ± 14.2) %, P < 0.05. The ratio of red blood cells (RBCs) in the large atherosclerotic thrombus was (30.7 ± 14.3) %, considerably lower than (42.9 ± 15.2) %, P < 0.05. The prognosis of patients with the fibrin/platelet-rich thrombus was highly lower than that with the RBC-rich thrombus (P < 0.05). The levels with poor prognosis were higher than those with good prognosis (P < 0.05). MRI could be used to assist in the assessment of brain conditions in patients with AIS. NLRP3 inflammasome was involved in the inflammatory response of AIS and can be used for predicting the poor prognosis, having a certain clinical application value. Winter turnip rape (Brassica rapa L.) is widely cultivated in winter in Northwest China, however, its cold-tolerant mechanism remains insufficiently understood. In this study, winter turnip rape cultivar Longyou 7, a cold-tolerant variety, was used as material, whose accumulation of H22O2 and ..., antioxidant enzyme activity as well as differences in protein expression based on two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) technique under -4°C stress were analyzed. Results showed that, production of H22O2 and ... were increased in Longyou 7 leaves, simultaneously, SOD and POD activities were also obviously rosed up, but the activities of CAT and APX were gradually reduced with the temperature. Thirty-six differential protein spots were successfully identified between control and treatments group by using mass spectrometry analysis. Among them, 4 differential protein spots were induced under cold stress, and 2 were inhibited at -4°C. Functional analysis found that these identified proteins mainly participated in photosynthesis, carbohydrate metabolism, defense, protein synthesis, enzyme activity, redox and membrane metabolism, respectively. Additionally, 13 proteins' function were still unknown. In conclusion, strong antioxidant capacity and cell defense ability might play important roles in Longyou 7 response to cold stress. Background: Breast core needle biopsies are not perfect and could miss cancer. The need for a repeat breast core biopsy is not uncommon and can occur for a multitude of reasons. Radiologists should carefully correlate the pathology results with imaging features after each breast biopsy and must recognize why certain core biopsies must be repeated to avoid missed or delayed cancer diagnosis. In this review, we discuss the main reasons for repeat core biopsies via case presentation with radiological images and pathological correlation. This review will help multidisciplinary breast care team recognize when to repeat a biopsy to reduce false negatives and will also familiarize radiologists with techniques for improving initial biopsy success. Methods: We performed literature and chart reviews of cases at our institution between January 2015 and December 2019. Results: While some repeat biopsies are inevitable, most can be avoided with careful pre-biopsy planning, adequate sampling techniques, and proper radiologicalpathological correlation. Conclusion: Repeat breast core needle biopsies occur due to multiple avoidable and unavoidable radiological or pathological issues. It is imperative for both multidisciplinary breast care team and radiologists to recognize when to repeat a biopsy to reduce false negative or delayed cancer diagnosis via careful reviews before and after the procedure and adequate radiological and pathological correlation. Humans have an extraordinary ability to recognize and differentiate voices. It is yet unclear whether voices are uniquely processed in the human brain. To explore the underlying neural mechanisms of voice processing, we recorded electrocorticographic signals from intracranial electrodes in epilepsy patients while they listened to six different categories of voice and nonvoice sounds. Subregions in the temporal lobe exhibited preferences for distinct voice stimuli, which were defined as "voice patches." Latency analyses suggested a dual hierarchical organization of the voice patches. We also found that voice patches were functionally connected under both task-engaged and resting states. Furthermore, the left motor areas were coactivated and correlated with the temporal voice patches during the sound-listening task. Koumine (KME) is an active alkaloid extracted from Gelsemium elegans, and its diverse bioactivities have been studied for decades. However, KME exhibits poor solubility and low oral bioavailability, which hampers its potential therapeutic exploitation. This work aimed to develop optimized inclusion complexes to improve the bioavailability of KME. The KME/hydroxypropyl-b-cyclodextrin (KME/HPb-CD) inclusion complexes were prepared by the solvent evaporation method and later optimized using the Box-Behnken design. The optimal KME/HP-b-CD was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The physicochemical characterization results revealed that the crystalline state of KME was transformed into an amorphous form, forming KME/HP-b-CD inclusion complexes. Compared with KME, the solubility and in vitro release rate of KME/HP-b-CD was significantly enhanced by 52.34- and 1.3-fold, respectively. Further research was performed to investigate the intestinal absorption characteristics and in vivo bioavailability in rats. The optimal KME/HP-b-CD showed enhanced absorptive permeability and relative bioavailability increased more than two-fold compared to that of raw KME. These results indicate that the optimal KME/HP-b-CD can be used as an effective drug carrier to improve the solubility, intestinal absorption, and bioavailability of KME. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cistanche deserticola Ma was used as a medicine food homology, which was mainly produced in the Alxa region of northwest China. In recent years, it has been widely used in various food items. The increasing demand for Cistanches Herba has led to problems such as overexploitation and quality deterioration. The quality and safety of herbal medicines are critical and have been shown to be affected by the value chain (VC). Using the VC framework, the study is embedded in a larger study aiming to investigate the effects of different VCs types on the quality and stakeholders of Cistanches Herba. In this study, 90 Cistanches Herba samples were collected during fieldwork. An additional 40 samples were obtained from the herbal markets and medicine purchasing stations. Semi-structured interviews and key informant interviews were performed to collect data on stakeholders in major production areas. These samples were analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with the k-means clustering method; a targeted quality assessment strategy based on chemical analysis was adopted to understand the quality of Cistanches Herba. Based on market research, the collected samples were divided into different grades through k-means clustering analysis. Moreover, quality differences of Cistanches Herba in Alxa region were explored through DNA barcoding and chemical analysis. Accordingly, 10 different types of VCs were determined in the production of Cistanches Herba. The results show that there is a close relationship between the quality of Cistanches Herba and stakeholder benefits. Vertical integration at different levels was found for independent farmer-based VCs, horizontal collaboration was found in the cooperative-based VCs. The vertical coordination has led to a more consistent traceability system and strict regulation of supply chains. At the same time, the Cistanches Herba were divided into three grades. Through DNA barcoding and chemical analysis, we found that the quality differences between Cistanches Herba in the Alxa area were not significant. It was found that geographical suitability and vertical integration could impact the quality and sustainable production of Cistanches Herba. Background: The Campbell Collaboration undertakes systematic reviews of the effects of social and economic policies (interventions) to help policymakers, practitioners, and the public to make well-informed decisions about policy interventions. In 2010, the Cochrane Collaboration and the Campbell Collaboration developed a voluntary co-registration policy under the rationale to make full use of the shared interests and diverse expertise from different review groups within these two organizations. In order to promote the methodological quality and transparency of Campbell intervention reviews, the Methodological Expectations of Campbell Collaboration Intervention Reviews (MECCIR) were introduced in 2014 to guide Campbell reviewers. However, there has not been a comprehensive review of the methodological quality and reporting characteristics of Campbell reviews. Objectives: This review aimed to assess the methodological and reporting characteristics of Campbell intervention reviews and to compare the methodological quality and reporting completeness of Campbell reviews published before and after the implementation of MECCIR. A secondary aim was to compare the methodological quality and reporting completeness of reviews registered with Campbell only versus those co-registered with Cochrane and Campbell. Search Methods: We searched the Campbell Library to identify all the completed intervention reviews published between 1 January 2011 to 31 January 2018. Selection Criteria: One researcher downloaded and screened all the records to exclude non-intervention reviews based on reviews' title and abstract. A second researcher checked the full text of all the excluded records to confirm the exclusion. In case of discrepancies, the two researchers jointly agreed on the final decision. Data Collection and Analysis: We developed the abstraction form based on mandatory reporting items for methods, results, and discussion from the MECCIR reporting standards Version 1.1; and additional epidemiological characteristics identified in a similar study of systematic reviews in health. Additionally, we judged the methodological quality and completeness of reporting of each included review. For methodological quality, we used the AMSTAR 2 (A MeaSurement Tool to Assess systematic Reviews 2) instrument; for reporting completeness we used the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) checklist. We rated reporting as either complete/partial or not reported. We described characteristics of the included reviews with frequencies and percentages, and median with interquartile ranges (IQRs). We used Stata version 12.0 to conduct multiple linear regressions for continuous data and the ordered logistic regressions for ordered data to investigate associations between prespecified factors and both methodological quality and completeness of reporting. Main Results: We included 96 Campbell reviews, 46 were published between January 2011 and September 2014 (pre-MECCIR) and 50 between October 2014 and January 2018 (post-MECCIR). Twenty-two of 96 (23%) reviews were coregistered with Cochrane. For overall methodological quality, 16 (17%) reviews were rated as high, 40 (42%) as moderate, 24 (25%) as low and 16 (17%) as critical low using AMSTAR 2. Reviews published after the release of MECCIR had better methodological quality ratings than those published before MECCIR (odds ratio [OR] =6.61, 95% confidence interval [CI] [2.86, 15.27], p < .001). The percentages of reviews of high or moderate quality were 76% (post-MECCIR) and 39% (pre-MECCIR). Reviews co-registered with Cochrane were rated as having better methodological quality than those registered only with Campbell (OR = 5.57, 95% CI [2.13, 14.58], p < .001). The percentages of reviews of high or moderate quality were 77% versus 53% between co-registered and Campbell registered only reviews. Twenty-five of 96 reviews (26%) completely or partially reported all 27 PRISMA checklist items. The median number of items reported across reviews was 25 (IQR, 22-26). Reviews published after the release of MECCIR reported 2.80 more items than those published before MECCIR (95% CI [1.74, 3.88], p < .001); reviews coregistered on Campbell and Cochrane reported 1.98 more items than reviews only registered in Campbell (95% CI [0.72, 3.24], p = .003). An increasing trend over time was observed for both the percentage of high and moderate methodological quality of reviews and the median number of PRISMA items reported. Authors' Conclusions: Many features expected in systematic reviews were present in Campbell reviews most of the time. Methodological quality and reporting completeness were both significantly higher in reviews published after the introduction of MECCIR in 2014 compared with those published before. However, this may also reflect general improvement in the reporting the methodology of systematic reviews over time or associations with other characteristics which were not assessed such as funding or experience of teams. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in hematological malignancies. We have previously identified several differentially expressed lncRNAs in myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) by microarray analysis. In the present study, we explored the regulatory circuitry, potential functions, clinical and prognostic relevance of these lncRNAs in MDS by developing a lncRNA regulation network. We identified a novel lncRNA, LOC101928834, which was significantly up-regulated in the bone marrow of patients with MDS and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We further evaluated the clinical relevance of LOC101928834 in 89 MDS and 110 AML patients and found that higher level of LOC101928834 expression was associated with higher white blood cell count, higher blast percentage, the subtype of refractory cytopenia with excess blasts (RAEB) and shorter overall survival in MDS patients. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis showed that LOC101928834 expression could discriminate MDS-RAEB patients from control with an area under the receiver-operating curve (AUC) of 0.9048. Moreover, functional analysis showed that LOC101928834 promoted cell proliferation and cell cycle progression, and activated Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in vitro. In order to study the influence of ash-aggregate ratio on compressive strength and void fraction of recycled green eco-concrete, the green eco-concrete prepared with recycled aggregate is selected in this study, which conforms to the concept of sustainable development. The effective porosity, compressive strength and permeability coefficient of concrete are studied, so as to determine the impact of different lime-aggregate ratio and water-cement ratio on recycled green ecological concrete. It is found that with the increase of the ash-bone ratio, the compressive strength decreases, and the ash-bone ratio is negatively correlated with the compressive strength. With the increase of the ash-bone ratio, the effective porosity increases, and the ash-bone ratio is positively correlated with the effective porosity. The compressive strength increases with the increase of water cement ratio. The water cement ratio is positively correlated with compressive strength, and the influence of water cement ratio on effective porosity shows a complex trend of rising first and then decreasing. This study lays a foundation for choosing suitable green ecological concrete, applies green ecological concrete to practical projects, and verifies the feasibility of engineering application. Previous neuroimaging studies have identified various brain regions that are activated by music listening or recall. However, little is known about how these brain regions represent the time course and temporal features of music during listening and recall. Here we analyzed neural activity in different brain regions associated with music listening and recall using electrocorticography recordings obtained from 10 epilepsy patients of both genders implanted with subdural electrodes. Electrocorticography signals were recorded while subjects were listening to familiar instrumental music or recalling the same music pieces by imagery. During the onset phase (0-500 ms), music listening initiated cortical activity in high-gamma band in the temporal lobe and supramarginal gyrus, followed by the precentral gyrus and the inferior frontal gyrus. In contrast, during music recall, the high-gamma band activity first appeared in the inferior frontal gyrus and precentral gyrus, and then spread to the temporal lobe, showing a reversed temporal sequential order. During the sustained phase (after 500 ms), delta band and high-gamma band responses in the supramarginal gyrus, temporal and frontal lobes dynamically tracked the intensity envelope of the music during listening or recall with distinct temporal delays. During music listening, the neural tracking by the frontal lobe lagged behind that of the temporal lobe; whereas during music recall, the neural tracking by the frontal lobe preceded that of the temporal lobe. These findings demonstrate bottom-up and top-down processes in the cerebral cortex during music listening and recall and provide important insights into music processing by the human brain. The common marmoset (Callithrix jacchus) is a promising new model for study of neurophysiological basis of behavior in primates. Like other primates, it relies on saccadic eye movements to monitor and explore its environment. Previous reports have demonstrated some success in training marmosets to produce goal-directed actions in the laboratory. However, the number of trials per session has been relatively small, thus limiting the utility of marmosets as a model for behavioral and neurophysiological studies. In this article, we report the results of a series of new behavioral training and neurophysiological protocols aimed at increasing the number of trials per session while recording from the cerebellum. To improve the training efficacy, we designed a precisely calibrated food regulation regime that motivates the subjects to perform saccade tasks, resulting in ~1,000 reward-driven trials on a daily basis. We then developed a multichannel recording system that uses imaging to target a desired region of the cerebellum, allowing for simultaneous isolation of multiple Purkinje cells in the vermis. In this report, we describe 1) the design and surgical implantation of a computer tomography (CT)- guided, subject-specific head post, 2) the design of a CT- and MRIguided alignment tool for trajectory guidance of electrodes mounted on an absolute encoder microdrive, 3) development of a protocol for behavioral training of subjects, and 4) simultaneous recordings from pairs of Purkinje cells during a saccade task. Introduction Patient and public versions of guidelines (PVGs) can help with individual decision making and enhance the patient-clinician relationship by providing easily understandable and reliable information. An increasing number of guideline organisations are developing PVGs. However, the reporting of PVGs by different groups and organisations varies widely. This study aims to develop a reporting checklist for PVGs for healthcare. Methods and analysis We will develop the PVG reporting checklist as an extension of the Reporting Tool for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare (RIGHT) statement. We will build on the methods recommended by the EQUATOR network, which is our starting point. We will conduct a literature review, establish an international multidisciplinary team, run a modified Delphi process to identify the reporting items and pilot test the draft reporting checklist. We plan to update the checklist every 3 years. Ethics and dissemination Ethics approval and patient consent are not required since this study will not undertake any formal data collection involving humans or animals. The results of this protocol will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication. Objectives We systematically analysed recommendations from gout guidelines as an example, to provide a basis for developing a reporting standard of recommendations in clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). Design Systematic review without meta-analysis. Methods We systematically searched MEDLINE and all relevant guideline websites (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, National Guideline Clearinghouse, Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network, WHO, Guidelines International Network, DynaMed, UpTodate, Best Practice) from their inception to January 2017 to identify and select gout CPGs. We used search terms such as 'gout', 'hyperuricemia' and 'guideline'. We included the eligible CPGs of gout according to the predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria after screening titles, abstracts and full texts. The characteristics of recommendations reported in the included guidelines were extracted and analysed. Results A total of 15 gout guidelines with a range of 5-80 recommendations were retrieved. Several indicators were used in the gout guidelines to facilitate identification of recommendations, including grouping all recommendations in a summary section, formatting recommendations in a particular or special way, using locating words for recommendations and indicating the strength of recommendation and quality of evidence. We found some components commonly used in the recommendations. The wording of recommendations varied across guidelines. Recommendations were detailed and explained in the section of rationale and explanation of recommendations. In some guidelines, recommendations were accompanied with other material to assist their reporting. Conclusions Variability and inconsistency were found on the reporting and presentation of recommendations in gout guidelines. Several points for reporting recommendation can be summarised. First, we suggested summarising and highlighting the core recommendations in a guideline. Second, guideline developers should try to structure and write recommendations reasonably. Third, it was necessary to detail and explain the recommendations and their rationale. Finally, describing and providing other potential useful contents was also a helpful way for clear reporting. Land surface temperature (LST) is an essential parameter in the physics of land surface processes. The spatiotemporal variations of LST on the Fujian province were studied using AQUA Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer LST data. Considering the data gaps in remotely sensed LST products caused by cloud contamination, the Savitzky-Golay (S-G) filter method was used to eliminate the influence of cloud cover and to describe the periodical signals of LST. Observed air temperature data from 27 weather stations were employed to evaluate the fitting performance of the S-G filter method. Results indicate that S-G can effectively fit the LST time series and remove the influence of cloud cover. Based on the S-G-derived result, Spatial and temporal Variations of LST in Fujian province from 2001 to 2015 are analysed through slope analysis. The results show that: 1) the spatial distribution of annual mean LST generally exhibits consistency with altitude in the study area and the average of LST was much higher in the east than in the west. 2) The annual mean temperature of LST declines slightly among 15 years in Fujian. 3) Slope analysis reflects the spatial distribution characteristics of LST changing trend in Fujian. Improvement areas of LST are mainly concentrated in the urban areas of Fujian, especially in the eastern urban areas. Introduction Postoperative atrial fibrillation (POAF) is the most common complication following cardiac surgery, and randomised clinical trials (RCTs) and systematic reviews have been conducted to compare and evaluate different pharmacological interventions for preventing POAF. This study aimed to explore the effect of different pharmacological interventions for prophylaxis against POAF after cardiac surgery using network meta-analysis (NMA). Methods and analysis A systematic search will be performed in PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library to identify RCTs, systematic reviews, meta-analyses or NMA of different pharmacological interventions for POAF. We will evaluate the risk of bias of the included RCTs according to the Cochrane Handbook V.5.1.0, and use GRADE to assess the quality of evidence. Standard pairwise meta-analysis, trial sequential analysis and Bayesian network meta-analysis will be used to compare the efficacy of different pharmacological interventions. Like other organisms, plants have endogenous biological clocks that enable them to organize their metabolic, physiological, and developmental processes. The representative biological clock is the circadian system that regulates daily (24-h) rhythms. Circadian-regulated changes in growth have been observed in numerous plants. Evidence from many recent studies indicates that the circadian clock regulates a multitude of factors that affect plant metabolites, especially emitted volatiles that have important ecological functions. Here, we review recent progress in research on plant volatiles showing rhythmic emission under the regulation of the circadian clock, and on how the circadian clock controls the rhythmic emission of plant volatiles. Chronotropic incompetence (CI) has been proven to be an important factor in the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases. In this paper, we extend the existing CI parameters and propose chronotropic competence indices (CCI) to describe the exercise response of the cardiopulmonary system. A cardiac chronotropic competence Test (3CT), dedicated to CCI measurement using a wearable device, is also presented. Preliminary clinical trials are presented for the validation of 3CT measurement accuracy, and to show the potential of CCI in the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases. Deep eutectic solvents (DES) were formed from choline chloride (ChCl). DES-modified polymer monolithic (DES-M), template molecular polymer monolithic and non-DES-M without a molecular template were synthesized in identical process. These polymer materials were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The significant selective adsorption properties of the polymers were assessed by an absorption capacity experiment and solid-phase extraction (SPE). The optimized extraction procedure was as follows: ultrasonic time (30min), optimal solvent (ethanol) and liquid to material ratio (20mLg-1). Under this condition, the amount of quercetin extracted from Ginkgo biloba was 290.8mg g-1. The purification of G. biloba was achieved by the SPE process. Based on the results, DESs-based monolithic cartridges can be used for simple and efficient extraction and as a pre-concentration technique for the purification of bioactive compounds or drugs in aqueous environments with high affinity and selectivity. Electrical stimulation of the auditory periphery organ by cochlear implant (CI) generates highly synchronized inputs to the auditory system. It has long been thought such inputs would lead to highly synchronized neural firing along the ascending auditory pathway. However, neurophysiological studies with hearing animals have shown that the central auditory system progressively converts temporal representations of time-varying sounds to firing rate-based representations. It is not clear whether this coding principle also applies to highly synchronized CI inputs. Higher-frequency modulations in CI stimulation have been found to evoke largely transient responses with little sustained firing in previous studies of the primary auditory cortex (A1) in anesthetized animals. Here, we show that, in addition to neurons displaying synchronized firing to CI stimuli, a large population of A1 neurons in awake marmosets (Callithrix jacchus) responded to rapid time-varying CI stimulation with discharges that were not synchronized to CI stimuli, yet reflected changing repetition frequency by increased firing rate. Marmosets of both sexes were included in this study. By comparing directly each neuron's responses to time-varying acoustic and CI signals, we found that individual A1 neurons encode both modalities with similar firing patterns (stimulus-synchronized or nonsynchronized). These findings suggest that A1 neurons use the same basic coding schemes to represent time-varying acoustic or CI stimulation and provide new insights into mechanisms underlying how the brain processes natural sounds via a CI device. In order to improve the stability, utilization ratio and anti-tumor effect of curcumin drug, a set of curcumin-loaded nanofiber membranes with drug releasing property were fabricated using silk fibroin and polyethylene glycol. Various curcumin- loaded silk fibroin nanofiber membranes with different components and drug loading percentages were prepared using electrospinning technology. The morphology structure, mechanical properties, secondary structure, drug release property in vitro, and their interaction effects of the curcumin-loaded silk fibroin nanofiber membranes were examined. The result of in-vitro drug release experiment showed that the curcumin can be released stably up to 350 hours, the drug releasing speed increased with the decrease of the diameter of the fibers. The stability and utilization ratio of curcumin was improved after loading with curcumin- loaded silk fibroin nanofiber membranes. Different kinds of deep eutectic solvents (DES) based on choline chloride (ChCl) and ionic liquids (ILs) based on 1-methylimidazole were used to modify Fe3O4/molecularly imprinted polymers (Fe3O4/MIPs), and the resulting materials were applied for the rapid purification of alkaloid isomers (theobromine and theophylline) from green tea with magnetic solid-phase extraction (M-SPE). The M-SPE procedure was optimized using the response surface methodology (RSM) to analyze the maximum conditions. The materials were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FI-IR) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). Compared to the ILs-Fe3O4/MIPs, the DESs-Fe3O4/MIPs were developed for the stronger recognition and higher recoveries of the isomers (theophylline and theobromine) from green tea, particularly DES-7-Fe3O4/MIPs. With RSM, the optimal recovery condition for theobromine and theophylline in the M-SPE were observed with ratio of methanol (80%) as the washing solution, methanol/acetic acid (HAc) (8:2) as the eluent at pH 3, and an eluent volume of 4 mL. The practical recoveries of theobromine and theophylline in green tea were 92.27% and 87.51%, respectively, with a corresponding actual extraction amount of 4.87 mg.g-1 and 5.07 mg.g-1. Overall, the proposed approach with the high affinity of Fe3O4/MIPs might offer a novel method for the purification of complex isomer samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
