Hierarchical neural networks have achieved success in review sentiment classification. Recently, some works achieved improvements by integrating user and product information to build a review representation. However, it neglects comprehensive underlying relationship between meaningful information and contextual sentences in a review since the full meaning of review is made up of both several independent sentences and a serial of continuous sentences. In this paper, we propose a hierarchical neural network with the serial attention mechanism in sentence level to extract the association of the sentences to the meaningful information, which is useful for generating a more accurate review representation. Firstly, it learns two representations for each sentence of a review from two individual hierarchical networks with user attention or with product attention. Secondly, based on the two representations of a sentence, it computes two representations for each review with individual serial attention mechanism from user perspective and product perspective. Finally, a fusion gating mechanism is used to select the two review representations from user perspective and product perspective so as to determine the final representation of the current review. In this paper, a spectral–spatial anomaly detection method based on tensor de-composition is proposed. Firstly, tensor data is used to represent hyperspectral data to retain its original spectral and spatial information. Second, this method reconstructs the hyperspectral data into low-rank tensors and sparse tensors. This method uses the weighted tensor Schatten-p norm minimization (WTSNM) to stand for rank minimization. WTSNM treats different singular values differently. Finally, the reconstructed sparse tensor is used as input data and the LRX method is used to detect abnormal targets. As this approach can effectively utilize the spectral information and spatial information of hyperspectral images, it greatly improves detection accuracy, experimental results on five real data sets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms several state-of-the-art algorithms. Heterotopic ossification (HO) and fatty infiltration (FI) often occur in diseased skeletal muscle and have been previously described in various animal models of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD); however, the pathological mechanisms remain largely unknown. Dystrophin-deficient mdx mice and dystrophin/utrophin double-knockout (dKO) mice are mouse models of DMD; however, mdx mice display a strong muscle regeneration capacity, while dKO mice exhibit a much more severe phenotype, which is similar to patients with DMD. Our results revealed that more extensive HO, but not FI, occurred in the skeletal muscle of dKO mice versus mdx mice, and RhoA activation specifically occurred at the sites of HO. Moreover, the gene expression of RhoA, BMPs, and several inflammatory factors were significantly up-regulated in muscle stem cells isolated from dKO mice; while inactivation of RhoA in the cells with RhoA/ROCK inhibitor Y-27632 led to reduced osteogenic potential and improved myogenic potential. Finally, inactivation of RhoA signaling in the dKO mice with Y-27632 improved muscle regeneration and reduced the expression of BMPs, inflammation, HO, and intramyocellular lipid accumulation in both skeletal and cardiac muscle. Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common primary malignancy of bone, and pulmonary metastatic disease accounts for nearly all mortality. However, little is known about the biochemical signaling alterations that drive the progression of metastatic disease. Two murine OS cell populations, K7M2 and K12, are clonally related but differ significantly in their metastatic phenotypes and therefore represent excellent tools for studying metastatic OS molecular biology. K7M2 cells are highly metastatic, whereas K12 cells display limited metastatic potential. Here we report that the expression of Notch genes (Notch1, 2, 4) are up-regulated, including downstream targets Hes1 and Stat3, in the highly metastatic K7M2 cells compared to the less metastatic K12 cells, indicating that the Notch signaling pathway is more active in K7M2 cells. We have previously described that K7M2 cells exhibit higher levels of aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) activity. Here we report that K7M2 cell ALDH activity is reduced with Notch inhibition, suggesting that ALDH activity may be regulated in part by the Notch pathway. Notch signaling is also associated with increased resistance to oxidative stress, migration, invasion, and VEGF expression in vitro. However, Notch inhibition did not significantly alter K7M2 cell proliferation. In conclusion, we provide evidence that Notch signaling is associated with ALDH activity and increased metastatic behavior in OS cells. Furthermore, rapamycin treatment reduces bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene expression and inhibits K7M2 proliferation, migration, and invasion in vitro. Inhibition of ALDH with disuliram correlated with decreased mTOR expression and activity. In conclusion, we provide evidence for interaction between mTOR activity, ALDH activity, and metastatic potential in murine OS cells. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is one of the most promising targets for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Icotinib, a highly selective EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKI), has shown promising clinical efficacy and safety in patients with NSCLC. The exact molecular mechanism of icotinib remains unclear. In this study, we first investigated the antiproliferative effect of icotinib on NSCLC cells. Icotinib significantly inhibited proliferation of the EGFR-mutated lung cancer HCC827 cells. The IC50 values at 48 and 72 h were 0.67 and 0.07 M, respectively. Flow cytometric analysis showed that icotinib caused the G1 phase arrest and increased the rate of apoptosis in HCC827 cells. The levels of cyclin D1 and cyclin A2 were decreased. The apoptotic process was associated with activation of caspase-3, -8, and poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP). Further study revealed that icotinib inhibited phosphorylation of EGFR, Akt, and extracellular signal-regulated kinase. In addition, icotinib upregulated ubiquitin ligase Cbl-b expression. These observations suggest that icotinib-induced upregulation ofCbl-b is responsible, at least in part, for the antitumor effect of icotinib via the inhibition of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/Akt and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways in EGFR-mutated NSCLC cells. Background: Dedifferentiation of muscle cells in the tissue of mammals has yet to be observed. One of the challenges facing the study of skeletal muscle cell dedifferentiation is the availability of a reliable model that can confidentially distinguish differentiated cell populations of myotubes and non-fused mononuclear cells, including stem cells that can coexist within the population of cells being studied. Methodology/Principal Findings: In the current study, we created a Cre/Lox-β-galactosidase system, which can specifically tag differentiated multinuclear myotubes and myotube-generated mononuclear cells based on the activation of the marker gene, β-galactosidase. By using this system in an adult mouse model, we found that β-galactosidase positive mononuclear cells were generated from β-galactosidase positive multinuclear myofibers upon muscle injury. We also demonstrated that these mononuclear cells can develop into a variety of different muscle cell lineages, i.e., myoblasts, satellite cells, and muscle derived stem cells. Conclusions/Significance: These novel findings demonstrated, for the first time, that cellular dedifferentiation of skeletal muscle cells actually occurs in mammalian skeletal muscle following traumatic injury in vivo. We have investigated power scaling for the efficient generation of the broadband terahertz (THz) pulses. These THz short pulses are converted from ultrafast laser pulses propagating in a class of semiconductor electrooptic materials. By measuring the dependence of the THz output on the pump beam in terms of incident angle, polarization, azimuthal angle, and pump intensity, we have precisely determined the contributions made by optical rectification, drift of carriers under a surface or external field, and photo-Dember effect. When a second-order nonlinear material is pumped below its bandgap, optical rectification is always the mechanism for the THz generation. Above the bandgap, however, the three mechanisms mentioned earlier often compete with one another, depending on the material characteristics and pump intensity. At a sufficiently high pump intensity, optical rectification usually becomes the dominant mechanism for a second-order nonlinear material. Our analysis indicates that second-order nonlinear coefficients can be resonantly enhanced when a material is pumped above its bandgap. In such a case, the THz output power and normalized conversion efficiency can be dramatically increased. Two Ca2+dependent signaling pathways, mediated by the Ca2+activated phosphatase calcineurin and by the Ca2+activated kinase Ca2ﷆꖚ蝮阩dependent kinase (CaMK), are both believed to function in fast-to-slow skeletal muscle fiber type transformation, but questions about the relative importance of the two pathways still remain. Here, the differential gene expression during fast-to-slow fiber type transformation was studied using cultured adult flexor digitorum brevis (FDB) fibers and a custom minimicroarray system containing 21 fiber type-specific marker genes. After 3 days of culture, unstimulated fibers showed a generally slower gene expression profile; 3 days of electric field stimulation of cultured FDB fibers with a slow fiber-type pattern transformed the fibers to an even slower gene expression profile. Unstimulated FDB fibers overexpressing constitutively active calcineurin featured a slower gene expression profile, except four genes, indicating that transformation occurred, but was incomplete with activation of the calcineurin pathway alone. In both unstimulated FDB fibers and slow-type electrically stimulated FDB fibers, blocking of CaMK pathway with KN93 generated a faster gene expression profile compared with the negative control KN92, indicating that CaMK pathway functions during the transformation induced by both unstimulated culturing and slow fiber-type electrical stimulation. Moreover, neither the calcineurin nor the CaMK pathway alone could maximally activate the transformation, and coordination of the two pathways is required to accomplish a complete fast-to-slow fiber type transformation. We demonstrate that interface optical phonons can efficiently pump electrons from the quasi-X states to the quasi-Γ states in short-period type-II GaAs-AlAs superlattices. As a result, peculiar behaviors on these superlattices have been observed. First, photoluminescence intensity for the quasi-direct transition drastically increases as the temperature or pump power increases. Phonon-assisted anti-Stokes photoluminescence (ASPL) in the ultraviolet region has been observed in the GaN film grown on a Si (111) substrate. The ASPL peaks are observable only at sufficiently low temperatures. In addition, even if the photon energy is ≈318 meV below the transition energy for bound excitons, the ASPL peaks can be still observed. Based on our analysis, the donor-acceptor pairs and bound excitons have played primary roles in the generation of ASPL. An electric field present in a GaN/AlN heterostructure can bring both the first-order and second-order Raman scattering processes into strong resonances. The resonant Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman scatterings result in the increase and decrease in nonequilibrium longitudinal-optical phonon temperatures, respectively. Moreover, the phonon temperature measured from the Raman scattering is increased with an applied electric field at a much higher rate than the lattice temperature due to the presence of field-induced nonequilibrium longitudinal-optical phonons. The authors have introduced a technique to investigate the carrier dynamics of semiconductor nanostructures. Such a technique is based on the measurement of time-resolved differential photoluminescence spectra induced by subpicosecond pump and probe laser pulses by adjusting the temporal delay between them. Their results obtained on the InAs quantum dots embedded in InGaAs/GaAs quantum wells using such a technique indicate that the exciton decay time, integrated photoluminescence intensity, and photoluminescence linewidth exhibit unique dependences on temperature.
