Background: Exposure to heavy metals alone or in combination can promote systemic inflammation. The aim of this study was to investigate potential associations between multiple plasma heavy metals and markers of systemic immune inflammation. Methods: Using a cross-sectional study, routine blood tests were performed on 3355 participants in Guangxi, China. Eight heavy metal elements in plasma were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Immunoinflammatory markers were calculated based on peripheral blood WBC and its subtype counts. A generalised linear regression model was used to analyse the association of each metal with the immunoinflammatory markers, and the association of the metal mixtures with the immunoinflammatory markers was further assessed using weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression. Results: In the single-metal model, plasma metal Fe (log10) was significantly negatively correlated with the levels of immune-inflammatory markers SII, NLR and PLR, and plasma metal Cu (log10) was significantly positively correlated with the levels of immune-inflammatory markers SII and PLR. In addition, plasma metal Mn (log10 conversion) was positively correlated with the levels of immune inflammatory markers NLR and PLR. The above associations remained after multiple corrections. In the mixed-metal model, after WQS regression analysis, plasma metal Cu was found to have the greatest weight in the positive effects of metal mixtures on SII and PLR, while plasma metals Mn and Fe had the greatest weight in the positive effects of metal mixtures on NLR and LMR, respectively. In addition, blood Fe had the greatest weight in the negative effects of the metal mixtures for SII, PLR and NLR. Conclusion: Plasma metals Cu and Mn were positively correlated with immunoinflammatory markers SII, NLR and PLR. Trace elements may play an important role in obesity. This study aimed to assess the plasma and dietary intake levels of four trace elements, Mn, Cu, Zn and Se in a rural Chinese population, and analyse the relationship between trace elements and obesity. A cross-sectional study involving 2587 participants was conducted. Logistic regression models were used to analyse the association between trace elements and obesity; restricted cubic spline (RCS) models were used to assess the dose–response relationship between trace elements and obesity; the weighted quantile sum (WQS) model was used to examine the potential interaction of four plasma trace elements on obesity. Logistic regression analysis showed that plasma Se concentrations in the fourth quartile (Q4) exhibited a lower risk of developing obesity than the first quartile (Q1) (central obesity: OR = 0·634, P = 0·002; general obesity: OR = 0·525, P = 0·005). Plasma Zn concentration in the third quartile (Q3) showed a lower risk of developing obesity in general obesity compared with the first quartile (Q1) (OR = 0·625, P = 0·036). In general obesity, the risk of morbidity was 1·727 and 1·923 times higher for the second and third (Q2, Q3) quartiles of dietary Mn intake than for Q1, respectively. RCS indicated an inverse U-shaped correlation between plasma Se and obesity. WQS revealed the combined effects of four trace elements were negatively associated with central obesity. Plasma Zn and Se were negatively associated with obesity, and dietary Mn was positively associated with obesity. Background: Gliomas, a prevalent form of primary brain tumors, are linked with a high mortality rate and unfavorable prognoses. Disulfidptosis, an innovative form of programmed cell death, has received scant attention concerning disulfidptosis-related lncRNAs (DRLs). The objective of this investigation was to ascertain a prognostic signature utilizing DRLs to forecast the prognosis and treatment targets of glioma patients. Methods: RNA-seq data were procured from The Cancer Genome Atlas database. Disulfidptosis-related genes were compiled from prior research. An analysis of multivariate Cox regression and the least absolute selection operator was used to construct a risk model using six DRLs. The risk signature's performance was evaluated via Kaplan-Meier survival curves and receiver operating characteristic curves. Additionally, functional analysis was carried out using GO, KEGG, and single-sample GSEA to investigate the biological functions and immune infiltration. The research also evaluated tumor mutational burden, therapeutic drug sensitivity, and consensus cluster analysis. Reverse transcription quantitative PCR was conducted to validate the expression level of DRLs. Results: A prognostic signature comprising six DRLs was developed to predict the prognosis of glioma patients. High-risk patients had significantly shorter overall survival than low-risk patients. The robustness of the risk model was validated by receiver operating characteristic curves and subgroup survival analysis. Risk model was used independently as a prognostic indicator for the glioma patients. Notably, the low-risk patients displayed a substantial decrease in the immune checkpoints, the proportion of immune cells, ESTIMATE and immune score. IC50 values from the different risk groups allowed us to discern three drugs for the treatment of glioma patients. Lastly, the potential clinical significance of six DRLs was determined. Conclusions: A novel six DRLs signature was developed to predict prognosis and may provide valuable insights for patients with glioma seeking novel immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Some ancient Chinese paper artifacts dyed with amur cork tree bark extracts are currently preserved to different extents in museums and libraries worldwide. As traditional natural plant dyes, the long-term performance of the amur cork tree bark extract-dyed handmade paper has been questioned under a preserved environment. The photodegradation process of the extract-dyed papers was examined under accelerating artificial UVA irradiation conditions according to China national standard-paper and board- accelerated aging (exposure to light). Changes during aging were analyzed by optical observation and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR), pH, and tensile strength and folding endurance tests. The results showed that the main components from extracted dyes played an important role in affecting the photodegradation properties of dyed paper. The changes in surface color, pH, morphology and mechanical properties after the artificial UVA accelerated degradation tests revealed that a suitable concentration of the extract dyes for maintaining the long-term irradiation stability of the paper is important. Shale gas has become a major source of natural gas production and has received worldwide attention. Hydraulic fracturing is widely performed to stimulate oil and gas wells with considerable success. Given high-precision microseismic (MS) event locations, we can predict the development trend and region of fracturing and evaluate the stimulation effect, thereby providing technical guidance for subsequent exploitation. An accurate velocity model is essential for MS event positioning. However, simple velocity models, such as the uniform or vertical transverse isotropy (VTI) velocity model, are generally applied to calibrate the velocity model. Despite calibration, the VTI model may still face challenges in obtaining accurate MS event locations. Based on the structural characteristics of shale, we propose a novel local velocity model calibration algorithm for surface MS monitoring. To calibrate the velocity model, the actual strata interfaces are replaced with 3D gently inclined planes. We use very fast simulated annealing to concurrently tune the velocity, depth, and angle parameters of the model. Through the assessment of both the stacked amplitude at the position of the perforation shot and the relocation error of the perforation shot, we determine the ideal velocity model. To evaluate the effectiveness of our approach, we conduct experiments on both a synthetic model and a field dataset, and statistically analyze the location error. The results show that the proposed method obviously reduces the perforation shot relocation error and is well-suited for calibrating velocity models that are close to slightly inhomogeneous layered media. To explore the effects of CYP19A1 gene polymorphisms, plasma zinc, and urinary zinc levels and their interactions on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in residents of Gongcheng County, Guangxi, China. The case–control study was used for the investing. The MassARRAY System was applied to genotype the CYP19A1 genes rs752760, rs10046, rs10459592, and rs700518 in 540 study subjects. Plasma and urinary zinc concentrations were measured by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Conditional logistic regression showed that rs752760 and plasma zinc were associated with T2DM risks with ORs of 0.593 (95% CI: 0.371–0.948) and 0.563 (95% CI: 0.356–0.889), respectively. Unconditional logistic regression analysis showed an association between urinary zinc levels and the risk of T2DM as well, with an OR of 0.352 (95% CI: 0.212–0.585). The results of the multiplicative interaction model showed that the rs752760 T allele was associated with a significantly reduced risk of T2DM with moderate/low plasma zinc levels, with ORs of 0.340 (95% CI: 0.161–0.715) and 0.583 (95% CI: 0.346–0.981), respectively, and the rs752760 T allele was also associated with a significantly decreased risk of T2DM with moderate/low urinary zinc levels, with ORs of 0.358 (95% CI: 0.201–0.635) and 0.321 (95% CI: 0.183–0.562), respectively. Objective: To analyze the relationship between plasma metal elements, ApoE gene polymorphisms and the interaction between the two and impaired cognitive function in elderly population. Method: A stratified sample was drawn according to the age of the study population, and 911 subjects were included. Baseline information and health indicators were obtained, and cognitive function status was assessed by health examination, a general questionnaire and Mini-Mental Status Examination. Plasma metal elements were measured, and SNP typing was performed. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze the factors influencing cognitive function status and the association between the SNP genetic pattern of the ApoE gene and cognitive function. Results: The differences in gene frequencies and genotype frequencies of the ApoE rs7412 and rs7259620 genotype frequencies were statistically different between the cognitive impairment group and the control group (P < 0.05). statistically differences were found for the codominant model in rs7412-TT compared with the CC genotype (OR = 3.112 (1.159–8.359), P = 0.024) and rs7259620-AA compared with the GG genotype (OR = 1.588 (1.007–2.504), P = 0.047). Statistically differences were found in the recessive models rs7412-TT compared with (CC + CT) (OR = 2.979 (1.112–7.978), P = 0.030), rs7259620-AA compared with (GG + GA), and rs405509-GG compared with (TT + TG) (OR = 1.548(1.022–2.344), P = 0.039) all of which increased the risk of developing cognitive impairment. The differences in plasma Fe, Cu, and Rb concentrations between the case and control groups were significant (P < 0.05). The regression results showed that the plasma Cd concentrations in the Q1 range was a protective factor for cognitive function compared with Q4 (0.510 (0.291–0.892), P = 0.018). Furthermore, there was a multiplicative interaction between the codominant and recessive models for the Q2 concentrations of Cd and the rs7259620 loci, and the difference was significant, indicating increased risk of developing cognitive impairment (codominant model OR = 3.577 (1.496–8.555), P = 0.004, recessive model OR = 3.505 (1.479–8.307), P = 0.004). There was also a multiplicative interaction between Cd and the recessive model at the rs405509 loci, and the difference was significant, indicating increased risk of developing cognitive impairment (OR = 3.169 (1.400-7.175), P = 0.006). Conclusion: The ApoE rs7412, rs7259620 and rs405509 loci were associated with cognitive impairment in the elderly population, and there was an interaction between plasma metalloid Cd and the rs7259620 and rs405509 loci that increased the risk of cognitive impairment in the elderly population. The potential mechanisms underlying the association between copper (Cu) exposure and impaired liver function are unclear. This study aimed to investigate the potential associations of dietary Cu intake and plasma Cu levels with liver function biomarkers. A cross-sectional study was performed to assess liver function biomarkers—namely, levels of total bilirubin (TBIL), direct bilirubin (DBIL), indirect bilirubin (IBIL), alanine transaminase (ALT), and aspartate transaminase (AST)—in 2376 subjects in Guangxi, China. Dietary Cu intake was determined from a food frequency questionnaire containing 109 common foods. Plasma Cu concentrations were determined by inductively coupled plasma‒mass spectrometry. Multiple linear regression and multivariate restricted cubic splines (RCS) were used to evaluate the correlations of plasma Cu levels and dietary Cu levels with liver function biomarkers. The covariate-adjusted results of the linear regression analysis showed that plasma Cu levels were significantly negatively correlated with serum IBIL (β = − 0.37), DBIL (β = − 0.22), and TBIL levels (β = − 0.32) (all p < 0.05), and dietary Cu was negatively correlated with serum AST levels (β = − 0.12, p < 0.05). The RCS analysis further indicated a negative linear relationship between dietary Cu levels and AST levels. In summary, our results suggested that the plasma Cu level is associated with serum bilirubin levels and that dietary Cu intake is associated with serum AST levels. Background: Extensive studies have revealed the link between heavy metals and CKD. Compared to single meta-elements, mixture of metals reflect real-life metals exposure scenarios and are of interest. However, the mechanism of action of metal mixture on renal function is unclear. Methods: This study aimed to explore the potential relationship between urinary arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), manganese (Mn), and chromium (Cr) contents with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) levels in 2775 participants. The levels of metals in urine were determined by inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry. We used linear regression models and the Bayesian kernel machine regression (BKMR) to evaluate the association between metals and eGFR levels. Results: In linear regression analysis, urinary As (β = 2.723, 95%CI: 0.29, 5.157) and Pb (β = 3.081, 95%CI: 1.725, 4.438) were positively associated with eGFR in the total population. In the BKMR model, a mixture of the five metals had a positive joint effect on eGFR levels, while Pb (PIP = 0.996) contributed the most to eGFR levels. Pb was positively associated with eGFR levels in the total participants and women. As was positively correlated with eGFR levels in women. Pb and eGFR levels were positively correlated when the other metals were set at 25th, 50th, and 75th percentiles. Conclusions: To the best of our knowledge, all five metals mixed exposure was positively associated with eGFR. Background: Roughly 50% of adult gliomas harbor isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations. According to the 2021 WHO classification guideline, these gliomas are diagnosed as astrocytomas, harboring no 1p19q co-deletion, or oligodendrogliomas, harboring 1p19q co-deletion. Recent studies report that IDH-mutant gliomas share a common developmental hierarchy. However, the neural lineages and differentiation stages in IDH-mutant gliomas remain inadequately characterized. Methods: Using bulk transcriptomes and single-cell transcriptomes, we identified genes enriched in IDH-mutant gliomas with or without 1p19q co-deletion, we also assessed the expression pattern of stage-specific signatures and key regulators of oligodendrocyte lineage differentiation. We compared the expression of oligodendrocyte lineage stage-specific markers between quiescent and proliferating malignant single cells. The gene expression profiles were validated using RNAscope analysis and myelin staining and were further substantiated using data of DNA methylation and single-cell ATAC-seq. As a control, we assessed the expression pattern of astrocyte lineage markers. Results: Genes concordantly enriched in both subtypes of IDH-mutant gliomas are upregulated in oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPC). Signatures of early stages of oligodendrocyte lineage and key regulators of OPC specification and maintenance are enriched in all IDH-mutant gliomas. In contrast, signature of myelin-forming oligodendrocytes, myelination regulators, and myelin components are significantly down-regulated or absent in IDH-mutant gliomas. Further, single-cell transcriptomes of IDH-mutant gliomas are similar to OPC and differentiation-committed oligodendrocyte progenitors, but not to myelinating oligodendrocyte. Most IDH-mutant glioma cells are quiescent; quiescent cells and proliferating cells resemble the same differentiation stage of oligodendrocyte lineage. Mirroring the gene expression profiles along the oligodendrocyte lineage, analyses of DNA methylation and single-cell ATAC-seq data demonstrate that genes of myelination regulators and myelin components are hypermethylated and show inaccessible chromatin status, whereas regulators of OPC specification and maintenance are hypomethylated and show open chromatin status. Markers of astrocyte precursors are not enriched in IDH-mutant gliomas. Conclusions: Our studies show that despite differences in clinical manifestation and genomic alterations, all IDH-mutant gliomas resemble early stages of oligodendrocyte lineage and are stalled in oligodendrocyte differentiation due to blocked myelination program. Plumbagin (5-hydroxy-2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone, PLB), a naturally occurring naphthoquinone mainly isolated from the plant Plumbago zeylanica L., has been proven to possess anticancer activities towards multiple types of cancer. Although there has been an increasing amount of research regarding its anticancer effects, the association between oxidative stress, genotoxicity and the cell cycle arrest induced by PLB still remains unclear. Therefore, it is important to investigate their potential connections and the involvement of DNA damage and the ataxia telangiectasia mutated protein (ATM)-p53 signaling pathway in PLB's anticancer mechanism. The present study showed that PLB exposure significantly reduced HCC cell viability and colony formation. In addition, PLB-induced G2/M cell cycle arrest, oxidative stress, and DNA damage was detected, which could be almost blocked by NAC pretreatment. PLB could trigger a DNA damage response by activating cell cycle checkpoints such as ATM, checkpoint kinase 1 (Chk1), checkpoint kinase 2 (Chk2) and p53. Meanwhile, the key modulator of the G2/M transition factor, Cell Division Cycle 25C (cdc25C), was significantly downregulated in an ROS-dependent manner. Furthermore, pretreatment with ATM and p53 inhibitors (KU55933 and Pifithrin-α) could reduce the occurrence of G2/M cell cycle arrest by inhibiting the activation of the ATM-p53 pathway. Detailed characterizations of genomic alterations have not identified subtype-specific vulnerabilities in adult gliomas. Mapping gliomas into developmental programs may uncover new vulnerabilities that are not strictly related to genomic alterations. After identifying conserved gene modules co-expressed with EGFR or PDGFRA (EM or PM), we recently proposed an EM/PM classification scheme for adult gliomas in a histological subtype- and grade-independent manner. By using cohorts of bulk samples, paired primary and recurrent samples, multi-region samples from the same glioma, single-cell RNA-seq samples, and clinical samples, we here demonstrate the temporal and spatial stability of the EM and PM subtypes. The EM and PM subtypes, which progress in a subtype-specific mode, are robustly maintained in paired longitudinal samples. Elevated activities of cell proliferation, genomic instability and microenvironment, rather than subtype switching, mark recurrent gliomas. Within individual gliomas, the EM/PM subtype was preserved across regions and single cells. Malignant cells in the EM and PM gliomas were correlated to neural stem cell and oligodendrocyte progenitor cell compartment, respectively. Thus, while genetic makeup may change during progression and/or within different tumor areas, adult gliomas evolve within a neurodevelopmental framework of the EM and PM molecular subtypes. Liver-resident natural killer cells, a unique lymphocyte subset in liver, develop locally and play multifaceted immunological roles. However, the mechanisms for the maintenance of liver-resident natural killer cell homeostasis remain unclear. Here we show that early-life antibiotic treatment blunt functional maturation of liver-resident natural killer cells even at adulthood, which is dependent on the durative microbiota dysbiosis. Mechanistically, early-life antibiotic treatment significantly decreases butyrate level in liver, and subsequently led to defective liver-resident natural killer cell maturation in a cell-extrinsic manner. Specifically, loss of butyrate impairs IL-18 production in Kupffer cells and hepatocytes through acting on the receptor GPR109A. Disrupted IL-18/IL-18R signaling in turn suppresses the mitochondrial activity and the functional maturation of liver-resident natural killer cells. Strikingly, dietary supplementation of experimentally or clinically used Clostridium butyricum restores the impaired liver-resident natural killer cell maturation and function induced by early-life antibiotic treatment. Our findings collectively unmask a regulatory network of gut-liver axis, highlighting the importance of the early-life microbiota in the development of tissue-resident immune cells. Certain metals play a role in the pathogenesis of diabetes. This study aimed to investigate the potential association of plasma magnesium (Mg) and dietary intake of Mg with glycaemic markers. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 2373 subjects in Guangxi, China. Dietary Mg was obtained through a food frequency questionnaire containing 109 common foods. Plasma Mg concentration was determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Multiple linear regression combined with multivariable restricted cubic spline (RCS) functions was applied to evaluate the association of plasma Mg and dietary Mg with haemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and fasting plasma glucose (FPG). In linear regression, dietary Mg was significantly associated with FPG in the overall population (β = − 0.087, P < 0.05) and in women (β = − 0.098, P < 0.05). Plasma Mg was significantly associated with FPG in the overall population (β = − 0.096, P < 0.05) and in men (β = − 0.110, P < 0.05) and women (β = − 0.088, P < 0.05). In the RCS model, no non-linear association was found between dietary and plasma Mg and HbA1c levels. Dietary and plasma Mg are significantly negatively associated with fasting glucose. Background: Exposure to heavy metals in the environment is widespread, while the relationship between combined exposure to heavy metals and dyslipidemia is unclear. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed, and 3544 participants aged 30 years or older were included in the analyses. Heavy metal concentrations in plasma were based on inductively coupled plasma‒mass spectrometry. The relationship between heavy metals and dyslipidemia was estimated by logistic regression. BKMR was used to evaluate metal mixtures and their potential interactions. Results: In logistic regression analysis, participants in the fourth quartile of Fe and Zn (Fe > 1352.38 µg/L; Zn > 4401.42 µg/L) had a relatively higher risk of dyslipidemia (Fe, OR = 1.13, 95% CI: 0.92,1.38; Zn, OR = 1.30, 95% CI: 1.03,1.64). After sex stratification, females in the third quartile of plasma Zn (1062.05-4401.42 µg/L) had a higher relative risk of dyslipidemia (OR = 1.75, 95% CI: 1.28, 2.38). In BKMR analysis, metal mixtures were negatively associated with dyslipidemia in females when all metal concentrations were above the 50th percentile. In the total population (estimated from 0.030 to 0.031), As was positively associated with dyslipidemia when other metals were controlled at the 25th, 50th, or 75th percentile, respectively, and As was below the 75th percentile. In females (estimated from − 0.037 to -0.031), Zn was negatively associated with dyslipidemia when it was above the 50th percentile. Conclusion: This study indicated that As was positively associated with dyslipidemia and that Zn may be negatively associated with dyslipidemia in females. Combined metal exposure was negatively associated with dyslipidemia in females. The statistical theory of magnetic losses provides a simple and general method for the interpretation and prediction of losses in various magnetic materials. However, there are difficulties in assessing the losses since it would require additional experimental data and is seldom available to device designers. In this article, based on the modified dynamic Jiles–Atherton (JA) model by parameters scaling, a parameter extraction process by three successive steps is proposed for identifying 11 effective parameters applicable to different sinusoidal excitation magnetic fields. It provides a promising solution for the prediction of magnetic losses in giant magnetostrictive material (GMM). First, a quasi-static saturation $B$ – $H$ curve is used to obtain five saturation parameters. Four optimization coefficients are then determined using the arbitrary quasi-static minor $B$ – $H$ curve. Finally, on the basis of the nine parameters determined in the former two steps, two dynamic factors are determined using an arbitrary dynamic minor $B$ – $H$ curve. Then, all 11 coefficients were obtained, which could be used to reliably simulate the hysteresis loop of GMM under different sinusoidal excitation magnetic fields and realize the prediction of magnetic loss. The simulation results of the proposed model are in good agreement with the experimental results, which confirm its validity and accuracy. The proposed parameter extraction process can remarkably reduce the required experiment tests, and only three sets of experimental curves are needed to achieve a fast and accurate prediction of GMM magnetic losses. This paper mainly studied the influence of the Si/Al ratio on the performance of the Cu/SSZ-13 catalyst synthesized by the ion exchange method. NH3-SCR experimental results show that the catalyst SAR10 has the best catalytic performance, and it can maintain a 100% conversion rate in the range of 250 °C to 600 °C. Although SAR6 samples with low Si/Al ratios have abundant active centers, their low temperature activity is poor due to their poor crystallinity. The decrease of the number of active sites available for exchange in the SAR25 sample with too high an Si/Al ratio results in a decrease in catalytic activity throughout the temperature range. The results of the in situ DRIFTS experiment show that the order of the number of Lewis acid sites and the content of monodentate nitrate adsorption sites is the same as the order of catalytic activity. The objective of the study was to explore the relationship between the plasma levels of 22 metals and cognition status in older adults aged 60 years and above. A cross-sectional survey was conducted between 2018 and 2019. Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) was used to detect the concentrations of metals, and a mini-mental state examination (MMSE) questionnaire was used to estimate the cognition status of the elderly. Based on the years of education and MMSE scores, the participants were separated into the normal and impaired cognition groups. Lasso regression, logistic regression, and restricted cubic spline models were used to explore the relationship between the metals and cognitive status. A total of 1667 subjects were included in the study, and 333 (19.97%) of the participants had impaired cognition. Then, 12 metals, including Al, Fe, Ni, Cu, As, Se, Rb, Sr, Mo, Cd, Sn, and Sb were selected by lasso regression. Before the multivariate adjustment, Al and Cu were associated with the risk of increasing cognitive impairment (OR = 1.756, 95% CI: 1.166–2.646, P = 0.007; OR = 1.519, 95% CI: 1.050–2.197, P = 0.026, respectively). By contrast, Rb was associated with a decrease in the risk of cognitive impairment (OR = 0.626, 95% CI: 0.427–0.918, P = 0.017), but Cd was significantly associated with an increase in this risk (OR = 1.456, 95% CI: 1.003–2.114, P = 0.048). After multivariate adjustment, only Al (OR = 1.533, 95% CI: 1.000–2.350, P = 0.050) maintained a borderline difference with the risk of cognitive impairment. Extracts from amur cork tree barks contain some of the most important traditional natural dyes used, especially for functional production in ancient Chinese papers, due to religious reasons and their aesthetic aspects and antibacterial properties. Some ancient paper artefacts, dyed with this colourant and scattered around the world, are currently preserved to different extents. This study aims to characterize the thermal degradation process of amur cork tree bark extracts dyed papers to improve the knowledge and effectiveness of restoration practices. The properties of extracts dyed papers treated under dry-heat accelerating ageing conditions were investigated via optical observation and scanning electron microscopy as well as with pH, tensile strength and folding endurance analyses. The results showed that the main components from extracted dyes played important roles in affecting the properties of dyed paper. The changes in surface colour, pH, morphology and mechanical properties after the artificial dry-heat ageing tests revealed the most suitable concentration of extract dyes for maintaining the long-term thermal stability of the paper. The loss effect in smart materials, the active part of a transducer, is of significant importance to acoustic transducer designers, as it directly affects the important characteristics of the transducer, such as the impedance spectra, frequency response, and the amount of heat generated. It is therefore beneficial to be able to incorporate energy losses in the design phase. For high-power low-frequency transducers requiring more smart materials, losses become even more appreciable. In this paper, similar to piezoelectric materials, three losses in Terfenol-D are considered by introducing complex quantities, representing the elastic loss, piezomagnetic loss, and magnetic loss. The frequency-dependent eddy current loss is also considered and incorporated into the complex permeability of giant magnetostrictive materials. These complex material parameters are then successfully applied to improve the popular plane-wave method (PWM) circuit model and finite element method (FEM) model. To verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed methods, a high-power Tonpilz Terfenol-D transducer with a resonance frequency of around 1 kHz and a maximum transmitting current response (TCR) of 187 dB/1A/μPa is manufactured and tested. The good agreement between the simulation and experimental results validates the improved PWM circuit model and FEA model, which may shed light on the more predictable design of high-power giant magnetostrictive transducers in the future. The Cu/SSZ-13 catalyst with Si/Al ratio of 10 and Cu/Al ratio in the range of 0.005 to 0.5 was synthesized by ion exchange method. The effect of Cu/Al ratio on the performance, selectivity, and active center of the catalyst SCR was studied. The samples with too low Cu/Al ratio have low catalytic activity in the entire temperature range due to the small number of active sites. The samples with too high Cu/Al ratio have good performance in the low temperature range due to the large number of active sites. However, a large amount of copper that has not undergone ion exchange will generate CuO, which greatly enhances the oxidation of NH3 at high temperatures, which in turn leads to a decrease in catalytic performance at high temperatures. XRD and BET experiments show that all catalyst samples have good CHA crystal structure and microporous structure, and the pore size is mostly about 2 nm. In situ DRIFTS analysis shows that when the Cu/Al ratio is low, the proportion of Z2Cu in the active sites is higher, and the stability of the catalyst is enhanced. Of great importance is modeling for transducer design and application to predict its performance and simulate key characteristics. The equivalent circuit modeling (ECM), one of the most powerful tools, has been widely used in the transducer industry and academia due to its outstanding merits of low simulation cost and easy usage for multi-field simulation in both time and frequency domains. Nevertheless, most of the existing equivalent circuit models for Terfenol-D transducers normally ignore three material losses, namely elastic loss, piezomagnetic loss, and magnetic loss. Additionally, the magnetic leakage due to the intrinsic poor magnetic permeability of Terfenol-D is rarely considered into the piezomagnetic coupling. Both loss effects will produce substantial errors. Therefore, an improved SPICE model for a high-power Terfenol-D transducer considering the aforementioned three losses and magnetic flux leakage (MFL) is proposed in this article, which is implemented on the platform of LTspice software. To verify the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed technique, a high-power Terfenol-D tonpilz transducer prototype with a resonance frequency of around 1 kHz and a maximum transmitting current response (TCR) of 187.1 dB/1A/ $\mu $ Pa is built and tested. Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) are common age-related neurodegenerative diseases comprising Lewy body spectrum disorders associated with cortical and subcortical Lewy body pathology. Over 30% of PD patients develop PD dementia (PDD), which describes dementia arising in the context of established idiopathic PD. Furthermore, Lewy bodies frequently accompany the amyloid plaque and neurofibrillary tangle pathology of Alzheimer's disease (AD), where they are observed in the amygdala of approximately 60% of sporadic and familial AD. While PDD and DLB share similar pathological substrates, they differ in the temporal onset of motor and cognitive symptoms; however, protein markers to distinguish them are still lacking.Methods: Here, we systematically studied a series of AD and PD pathogenesis markers, as well as mitochondria, mitophagy, and neuroinflammation-related indicators, in the substantia nigra (SN), temporal cortex (TC), and caudate and putamen (CP) regions of human post-mortem brain samples from individuals with PDD and DLB and condition-matched controls.Results: We found that p-APPT668 (TC), α-synuclein (CP), and LC3II (CP) are all increased while the tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) (CP) is decreased in both PDD and DLB compared to control. Also, the levels of Aβ42 and DD2R, IBA1, and p-LRRK2S935 are all elevated in PDD compared to control. Interestingly, protein levels of p-TauS199/202 in CP and DD2R, DRP1, and VPS35 in TC are all increased in PDD compared to DLB.Conclusions: Together, our comprehensive and systematic study identified a set of signature proteins that will help to understand the pathology and etiology of PDD and DLB at the molecular level. Background: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between transcription factor EB (TFEB) gene polymorphisms, including their haplotypes, and the cognitive functions of a selected population in Gongcheng County, Guangxi. Methods: A case-control study approach was used. The case group comprised 339 individuals with cognitive impairment, as assessed by their Mini-Mental State Examination scores; the control population also comprised 339 individuals who were matched by sex and age (± 5 years) in a 1:1 ratio. TFEB gene polymorphisms were genotyped in 678 participants (190 men and 488 women, aged 30–91 years) by using the Sequenom MassARRAY platform. Results: Multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that in the dominant model, the risk of developing cognitive impairment was 1.547 times higher in cases with the TFEB rs14063A allele (AG + AA) than in those with the GG genotype (adjusted odds ratio [OR] = 1.547, Bonferroni correction confidence interval = 1.021–2.345). Meanwhile, the presence of the TFEB rs1062966T allele (CT + TT) was associated with a lower risk of cognitive impairment in comparison with the presence of the CC genotype (adjusted OR = 0.636, Bonferroni correction confidence interval = 0.405–0.998). In the co-dominant model, the risk of developing cognitive impairment was 1.553 times higher in carriers of the TFEB rs14063AG genotype than in carriers of the GG genotype (adjusted OR = 1.553, Bonferroni correction confidence interval = 1.007–2.397). After the Bonferroni correction and adjustment for confounding factors, the association of TFEB rs1062966 with cognitive function persisted in the analyses stratified by education level. Ethnically stratified analysis showed a significant association between TFEB rs1062966 and cognitive function in the Yao population. The multilocus linkage disequilibrium analysis indicated that the identified single nucleotide polymorphisms were not inherited independently. The haplotype analysis suggested that the rs14063A–rs1062966C–rs2278068C–rs1015149T haplotype of the TFEB gene increased the risk of cognitive impairment (P < 0.05) and that the rs14063G–rs1062966T–rs2278068C–rs1015149C haplotype was associated with a reduced risk of cognitive impairment (P < 0.05). Conclusion: TFEB rs1062966 polymorphisms and their rs14063A–rs1062966C–rs2278068C–rs1015149T and rs14063G–rs1062966T–rs2278068C–rs1015149C haplotypes are genetic factors that may affect cognitive function among the rural Chinese population. Objective. To explore the effects of the anti-VEGF drug and glucocorticoid by injection before the end of vitrectomy for proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR). Methods. Eighty PDR patients who underwent vitrectomy in our hospital (July 2020–June 2022) were selected as the research objects and randomized into group A (n = 40) and group B (n = 40) according to the order of admission. Before the end of surgery, group B was injected with glucocorticoid (triamcinolone acetonide) into the vitreous cavity, and group A was injected with anti-VEGF drug (conbercept). The ophthalmic parameters, incidence of complications, diabetes indexes, and surgical indexes of the two groups were compared. Results. The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central macular thickness (CMT), macular blood flow density and intraocular pressure in group A were remarkably better than those in group B (P < 0.001). The incidence of complications (P < 0.05) and VEG/F level (P < 0.001) in group A were obviously lower than those in group B. There was no significant difference in fasting blood glucose (FBG) and surgical indexes between the two groups (P > 0.05). Conclusion. Conbercept injection before the end of vitrectomy can improve the ophthalmic parameters, reduce the level of VEGF, and lower the possibility of postsurgical complications. Critical roles for liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) in liver fibrosis have been demonstrated, while little is known regarding the underlying molecular mechanisms of drugs delivered to the LSECs. Our previous study revealed that plumbagin plays an antifibrotic role in liver fibrosis. In this study, we investigated whether plumbagin alleviates capillarization of hepatic sinusoids by downregulating endothelin-1 (ET-1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), laminin (LN), and type IV collagen on leptin-stimulated LSECs. We found that normal LSECs had mostly open fenestrae and no organized basement membrane. Leptin-stimulated LSECs showed the formation of a continuous basement membrane with few open fenestrae, which were the features of capillarization. Expression of ET-1, VEGF, LN, and type IV collagen was enhanced in leptin-stimulated LSECs. Plumbagin was used to treat leptin-stimulated LSECs. The sizes and numbers of open fenestrae were markedly decreased, and no basement membrane production was found after plumbagin administration. Plumbagin decreased the levels of ET-1, VEGF, LN, and type IV collagen in leptin-stimulated LSECs. Plumbagin promoted downregulation of ET-1, VEGF, LN, and type IV collagen mRNA. Background/Aims: Our previous studies have shown that plumbagin effectively inhibits hepatic stellate cell (HSC) proliferation. Thus, plumbagin-mediated anti-fibrotic effects in vivo merit further investigation. Methods: We used rat models to assess the potential benefits of plumbagin against CCl4-induced liver fibrosis. Results: The results showed that plumbagin lowered the serum concentrations of liver functional enzymes (ALT, AST, ALB, TBIL) in CCl4-fibrotic rats while reducing inflammatory cytokine levels (IL-6, TNF-α). As reflected in pathological examinations, rats that were administered plumbagin showed decreased collagen markers (HA, LN, PCIII and CIV) in liver tissues and improved hepatocellular impairments. In addition, plumbagin contributed to down-regulating NF-κB and TLR-4 mRNA in CCl4-lesioned livers. As revealed in the immunohistochemical assay, plumbagin-administered rats showed reduced levels of α-SMA and TNF-α immunoreactive cells in liver tissue. [Objective] To observe the effects of water decoction of Plumbago zeylanica Linn, on the proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle of rats hepatic stellate cells, and to discuss the function and mechanism of anti-hepatic fibrosis of P. zeylanica. [Methods] SD rats were given water decoction of P. zeylanica by gavage, so as to obtain medicated serum. Medicated serum was incubated together with hepatic stellate cells (HSC-T6) according to different dosage groups. Blank control group was desgined; and medicated serum groups of colchicine and Compound Biejiaruangan Tablet were taken as the positive control groups. Proliferation of HSC-T6 was detected after incubation by MTT colorimetry; cell apoptosis and the DNA content in each cell phase was detected by flow cytometer. [Results] Inhibitory rate and apoptosis rate; compared with blank control, inhibitory rate and apoptosis rate in medicated serum groups enhanced significantly, showing significant differences (P < 0. 01). When the dosage of medicated serum was within 5% -20%, inhibitory rate and apoptosis rate of HSC-T6 enhanced as dosage increased. Inhibitory rate and apoptosis rate in medicated serum group of high dosage were significantly higher than those in colchicine groups, but was equal to those in Compound Biejiaruangan Tablet group. Cell cycle; there were no significant changes in cell percentage in each group at G2/M phase.compared with blank control group, cell percentages of medicated serum groups of P. zeylanica enhanced significantly at G0/G1 phase, and reduced significantly at S phase, showing significant changes (P < 0.01). When the dosage of medicated serum reduced within 20% - 5%, the cell percentage gradually declined at G0/G1 phase, and gradually increased at S phase. Under the same serum concentration, cell percentage of P. zeylanica group enhanced significantly at G0/G1 phase and decreased obviously at S phase compared with that of colchicine group. There were no significant changes in Compound Biejiaruangan Tablet group. [Conclusions] Medicated serum of P. zeylanica could restrict Gl/S proliferation and induce its apoptosis, showing a dose-dependent manner. [Objective] To observe the effects of extracts from RADIX CURCUMAE grown in Guangxi on the human hepatic stellate cells, and to find out its effects on proliferation and apoptosis rate. [Methods] After drug incubation of human hepatic stellate cells (HSC-LX2) for 48 h, inhibition rate of cell proliferation was detected by MTT (methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium) colorimetric method; cell apoptosis in each status was measured by flow cytometry (ANNEXIN V-PE/7-AAD double staining). [Results] Extracts in low-, middle- and high-dosage groups of RADIX CURCUMAE could restrict the proliferation of HSC-LX2. The inhibitory rates at 48 h were 15.4%, 49.1% and 58. 3%, respectively. IC50 value at 48 h was 45 [μmol/L. Early and late apoptosis of cells could be induced. The percentages of total apoptotic cells at 48 h were 20.7%, 29.8% and 34.4%, respectively. [Conclusions] Extracts from RADIX CURCUMAE grown in Guangxi could restrict the HSC-LX2 proliferation and induce the cell apoptosis, so as to affect the hepatic fibrosis. All these abilities mentioned above showed a dose-dependent manner. Recently, an increasing number of studies suggest that oxidative stress and inflammation are associated with hepatocellular injuries. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the potential hepatoprotective role of tadehaginoside (TA) on liver lesions induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl). The results in vitro suggested that TA dose-dependently suppressed the cell proliferation of HepG2 cells, whereas the phosphorylated level of IκBα in cells was effectively inactivated. The study in vivo showed that TA significantly lowered the serum concentrations of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), immunoglobulin E (IgE), and leukotriene (LT) in CCl-lesioned rats. Pathological examination indicated that CCl-induced hepatocellular damage was effectively mitigated by TA treatment. Meanwhile, the contents of γ-glutamylcysteine synthetase (γ-GCS), glutathione (GSH), and catalase (CAT) in liver tissue were gradually elevated. In addition, cytochrome c oxidase (COX) mRNA expression in hepatocytes was markedly upregulated, and nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keapl) levels were progressively increased. Furthermore, the tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB)-expressed protein were downregulated. These findings demonstrate that tadehaginoside effectively protects against CCl-induced oxidative injury and inflammatory reaction in hepatocytes, in which the underlying mechanisms are involved in activating the Nrf2 signaling pathway and inhibiting the NF-κB pathway, thereby attenuating oxidative stress and reducing the inflammation in liver cells. Complex material parameters that can represent the losses of giant magnetostrictive materials (GMMs) are the key parameters for high-power transducer design and performance analysis. Since the GMMs work under pre-stress conditions and their performance is highly sensitive to pre-stress, the complex parameters of a GMM are preferably characterized in a specific pre-stress condition. In this study, an optimized characterization method for GMMs is proposed using three complex material parameters. Firstly, a lumped parameter model is improved for a longitudinal transducer by incorporating three material losses. Then, the structural damping and contact damping are experimentally measured and applied to confine the parametric variance ranges. Using the improved lumped parameter model, the real parts of the three key material parameters are characterized by fitting the experimental impedance data while the imaginary parts are separately extracted by the phase data. The global sensitivity analysis that accounts for the interaction effects of the multiple parameter variances shows that the proposed method outperforms the classical method as the sensitivities of all the six key parameters to both impedance and phase fitness functions are all high, which implies that the extracted material complex parameters are credible. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common malignant tumor and the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the world. Plumbagin (PL) is a small molecule naphthoquinone compound isolated from Plumbago zeylanica L. that has important anticancer properties, but its mechanism requires further investigation. In this study, we used a comprehensive network pharmacology approach to study the mechanism of action of PL for the treatment of HCC. The method includes the construction of multiple networks; moreover, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were performed to identify biological processes and signaling pathways. Subsequently, in vitro experiments were performed to verify the predicted molecular mechanisms obtained from the network pharmacology-based analysis. Network pharmacological analysis showed that PL may exert anti-HCC effects by enhancing reactive oxygen species (ROS) production to generate oxidative stress and by regulating the PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling pathways. In vitro experiments confirmed that PL mainly mediates the production of ROS, regulates the PI3K/Akt and MAPK signaling pathways to promote apoptosis and autophagy, and shows significant therapeutic effects on HCC. A land-use plan is a core policy tool to curb excessive non-agriculturalization of agricultural land. The effect of plan implementation can affect sustainable land use and regional development. Empirical studies have shown that land development commonly and frequently fails to conform to land-use plans. However, neither qualitative nor quantitative studies are conducted to comprehensively explore the reasons for zoning–land use mismatch. To help bridge this gap, this study explored to what extent a plan has been implemented and what factors have affected zoning–land use mismatch. A new deviation discriminant framework of planning implementation was presented. Moreover, the logistics model was applied to discuss which factors substantially affect the zoning–land use mismatch. The plan implementation results were divided into the conformed, exceeded and unused areas. The general land-use plan failed in its spatial control over rural settlements and other built-up lands, with both more than 90% of the newly added construction land beyond zoning. In addition, the newly added construction land of rural settlements, other built-up lands, and transportation lands all exceeded the quota control. Furthermore, the physical factors of distance from the river, the elevation, the slope and the level, and the social-economic factors of the gross domestic product, the fiscal revenue, the fixed assets investments, and the rank of town have prominent effects on zoning–land use mismatch. Enhancing the flexibility of the land-use plan and strengthening the relationship between planning quotas and spatial zoning in the future are necessary to promote the effect of plan implementation. Sustainable agricultural practices necessitate accurate baseline data of crop types and their detailed spatial distribution. Compared with field surveys, remote sensing has demonstrated superior performance, offering spatially explicit crop distribution in a timely manner. Recent studies have taken advantage of remote sensing time series to capture the variation in plant phenology, inferring major crop types. However, such an approach was rarely used to extract detailed, multiple crop types spanning a large area, and the impact of topography has yet to be well analyzed in mountainous regions. This study aims to answer two questions in crop type extraction: (i) Is it feasible to accurately map multiple crop types over a large mountainous area with phenology-based modeling? (ii) What are the effects of topography in such modeling? To answer the questions, phenological metrics were extracted from MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) satellite time series, and the random forests classifier was used to map 12 crop types in South China (236,700 km2), featuring a subtropical monsoon climate and high topographic variation. Our study revealed promising results using MODIS EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index) and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) time series, although EVI outperformed NDVI (overall accuracy: 85% versus 81%). The spectral and temporal metrics of plant phenology significantly contributed to crop identification, where the spectral information exhibited greater importance. The increase of slope led to a decrease in model accuracy in general. However, uniformly distributed tree plantations (e.g., tea-oil camellia, gum, and tea trees) being cultivated on large slopes (>15 degrees) achieved accuracies greater than 80%. Burial conditions play a crucial role in archaeological heritage preservation. Especially, the microorganisms were considered as the leading causes which incurred degradation and vanishment of historic materials. In this article, we analyzed bacterial diversity and community structure from M1 of Wangshanqiao using 16 S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. The results indicated that microbial communities in burial conditions were diverse among four different samples. The samples from the robber hole varied most obviously in community structure both in Alpha and Beta diversity. In addition, the dominant phylum in different samples were Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria and Bacteroidetes, respectively. Moreover, the study implied that historical materials preservation conditions had connections with bacterial community distribution. At the genus level, Acinetobacter might possess high ability in degrading organic culture heritage in burial conditions, while Bacteroides were associated closely with favorable preservation conditions. This method contributes to fetch information which would never recover after excavation, and it will help to explore microbial degradation on precious organic culture heritage and further our understanding of archaeological burial environment.
