The effective interaction of the electron magnetic moment anomaly with the Coulomb fileld of superheavy nuclei is investigated by taking into account its dynamical screening at small distances. The shift of the electronic levels, caused by this interaction, is considered for H-like atoms and for compact nuclear quasi-molecules, non-perturbatively both in Zα and (partially) in α/π. It is shown that the levels shift reveals a non-monotonic behavior in the region Zα 1 and near the threshold of the lower continuum decreases both with the increasing the charge and with enlarging the size of the system of Coulomb sources. The last result is generalized to the total self-energy contribution to the levels shift and so to the possible behavior of radiative QED effects with virtual photon exchange near the lower continuum in the supercritical region. The regeneration effect of solar neutrinos in the Earth leading to the so-called day-night effect strongly depends on the neutrino energy, the time of day, and the season. Classical neutrino experiments, such as Super-Kamiokande, typically observe this effect cumulatively, i.e., virtually integrate it over the year. We discuss various day-night effects that could become potentially observable if time-weighted data processing is applied to neutrino events. The procedure is similar to reception of radio-frequency modulated signals and 'demodulation' of the neutrino signal, for example, is able to reveal interesting signatures in the high-energy tail of the electron recoil energy spectrum [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effects of the residual interaction in the particle-particle channel on β-decay characteristics and the multi-neutron emission probabilities in the β-decay of 126,128,130,132Cd are studied within the quasiparticle random phase approximation with the Skyrme interaction. The coupling between one-and two-phonon terms in the wave functions of the low-energy 1+ states of the daughter nuclei is taken into account. It is shown that the inclusion of the spin-isospin interaction in the particle-particle channel leads to the reduction of half-lives and redistribution of one-and two-neutron emission probabilities. The competition of tensor interaction and neutron-proton pairing in the β-decay characteristics of the neutron-rich Cd isotopes is discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We present a systematic investigation of the cosmological constant effects in compact stars interiors in the framework of Einstein's gravity. Consideration of a cosmological constant Λ in compact stars is motivated by the mechanism of acceleration of the observable universe, where Λ is usually related to the dark energy. In particular, we consider compact star mass twins, hybrid neutron stars that populate both the second and third branch of the mass-radius diagram. For those models, the need of consideration of excluded volume effects in the equation of state, resulting from the filnite size volume of nucleons, leads to a stiffening of matter causing compact stars to acquire higher mass and radius values. We demonstrate that certain values of the cosmological constant can also modify the compact star properties but in an opposite way. In addition, we filnd that the inclusion of Λ can have a similar effect to the existence of pasta phases at the hadron-quark interface. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We study the pure-gauge QCD phase transition at filnite temperatures in the dual QCD theory, an effective theory of QCD based on the magnetic symmetry. We formulate the effective thermodynamical potential for filnite temperatures using the path-integral formalism in order to investigate the properties of the pure-gauge QCD vacuum. We propose a numerical algorithm based on a discrete variable representation and shifted inverse iterations and apply it to for the analysis of the bound states of edge dislocation modelled by a quantum dipole in a plane. The good agreement with results of recent papers of Amore et al [J. Phys. B 45, 235004 (2012)] was obtained. The error estimates of the previous results of low-lying states energies of other authors were not known due to limitations of the variational approaches and this paper fills this gap presenting calculated low-lying bound states energies by non-variational technique. Magneto-gas-dynamic (MGD) outflows from the accretion disks of T Tauri stars with fossil large-scale magnetic fileld are investigated. We consider two mechanisms of the outflows: rise of the magnetic flux tubes (MFT) formed in the regions of efficient generation of the toroidal magnetic fileld in the disk due to Parker instability, and acceleration of particles in the current layer formed near the boundary between stellar magnetosphere and the accretion disk. Structure of the disk is calculated using our MGD model of the accretion disks. We simulate dynamics of the MFT in frame of slender flux tube approximation taking into account aerodynamic and turbulent drags, and radiative heat exchange with external gas. Particle acceleration in the current layer is investigated on the basis of Sweet-Parker model of magnetic reconnection. Our calculations show that the MFT can accelerate to velocities up to 50 km s-1 causing periodic outflows from the accretion disks. Estimations of the particle acceleration in the current layer are applied to interpret high-speed jets and X-rays observed in T Tauri stars with the accretion disks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Two-point one-loop fermionic amplitudes modifiled by a constant homogeneous magnetic fileld are studied. In addition to the amplitudes resulted after an insertion of scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial-vector fermionic currents, we calculate similar amplitudes with the tensor and (pseudo)scalar vertices. The crossed-field limit of these amplitudes is presented. The tensor current is a fermionic part of the Pauli Lagrangian relevant for the electromagnetic interaction of fermions through the anomalous magnetic moment and its contribution to the photon polarization operator is briefly discussed. We study the effect of non-standard neutrino interactions (NSIs) on the growth of instabilities in neutrino energy spectra of a core-collapse supernova for different neutrino intensities and/or types of NSIs, notably including the exotic neutrino magnetic moment. Although it is usually attested that instabilities virtually smear out all potentially observable signatures, we show that, instead, there are regimes in which they act as a magnifying glass, bringing tiny effects to the eye of the observer. The paper presents two methods of determining calibration curve of a new device for blood pressure measurement. The device was developed at Wrocław University of Science and Technology. First method is based on parallel measurement of systolic and diastolic pressure measurement with use of reference device such as sphygmomanometer and researched new device with pneumatic sensor equipped with voltage type output. Obtained data (systolic ps and diastolic pd pressure, maximum us and minimum ud voltage) was then used to determine individual pressure-voltage characteristic of the device, which can be represented as a linear equation. Second method is based on substitution of experimentally proved coefficient b with its analytical equivalent extracted from mathematical model of described pneumatic sensor. We present the importance of the pseudo-Riemannian structure in the spectral triple formalism that is used to describe the Standard Model of Particle Physics. The filnite case is briefly described and its role in the context of leptoquarks is presented. We consider a minimal vectorlike extension of the Standard Model that naturally contains two types of stable neutral particles. They can be interpreted as the Dark Matter candidates. Here, the SM is supplemented by a new fermion (H-quark) sector that is in confilnement providing by the SU(2)HC gauge group. H-quarks interact with the SM particles via standard electroweak bosons. In analogy with the conventional QCD, H-quarks can form bound states, H-hadrons, that emerge in the σ− model framework. Along with the stable neutral H-pion, there is one more pseudo-goldstone (diquark) state, B0, which is stable and also can be a component of the DM. Mass splittings both for components of the H-pion triplet and for neutral H-pion and B0 have been calculated, it is shown that this splittings can be small. The relic abundance for this composition of the DM is analyzed as well as the DM particles scattering off nucleons. A feature of this scenario is that Dark Matter turns out to consist of particles which are close in mass but have different origin and interact differently with ordinary matter. The functional form of nuclei decay for a finite number of particles within sub-Poisson distribution terms and time scale discretisation were considered. The mathematical apparatus for particles' birth and death model with respect to the theory of a nuclear thermal point-reactor was made. During research the fundamental curves, the exponential dependence of neutron generation lifetime and state decay possibility were obtained for a thermal reactor breeding medium. This paper presents construction, operating principle and initial study of new device for measurement and recording of arterial blood pressure, created at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. This device is equipped with a pneumatic pressure sensor based on the pneumatic nozzle flapper amplifier principle. During the measurement sensor is applied to the patient's body, where the pulse is easily palpable. After that, sensor is gradually pressed against to the artery, in order to record peak amplitude. Maximum value of this amplitude corresponds to the real blood pressure waveform. In the physics of accelerators and colliders there is one important parameter as "impedance". Impedance determines the level of the influence of the field induced by the beam in the longitudinal and transverse directions on the beam motion. Knowledge of the impedances is necessary for estimating the conditions for the stability of the beam motion in the designed accelerator. Thus, the main objective at the moment is the calculation of the impedance of each device in the collider for further calculation of their contribution to the general impedance. In the report the physics of the beam motion in an accelerator chamber is considered, the method of calculating the impedance - the method of electro-magnetic simulation through the CST Studio Suit software package is described, an example of the calculation of the impedance for the part of vacuum chamber of the quadrupole magnet, which is a part of the arch of the collider NICA is shown. This paper describes recent results obtained with a compact 2.45 GHz ECR Ion Source at the ECR ion sources test bench. The source was tested for production of helium and hydrogen ions with different configurations of Ultra High Frequency (UHF) coupler, UHF power and frequency. At the extraction voltage about of 10 kV and UHF power about of 100 W more than 500 µA of He + ions were produced with the extraction hole of 3 mm in diameter that corresponds to the current density of 7.5mA/cm2. Tubular Electron String Ion Source (TESIS) – improved version of Electron String Ion Source (ESIS) aiming for nearly 200-fold increase in ion yield – is under development at JINR. TESIS advantages over ESIS are discussed and their characteristics are compared. Basic scheme of TESIS operation is presented. One of the crucial processes in TESIS – off-axis ion extraction – requires special confilguration of output electrodes providing steep potential gradient. Numerical simulations of ion extraction trajectories for two different electrode confilgurations are compared and the optimal one is discussed. Some of modern models used to describe TGF phenomenon and lightning ignition assume the existence of positive positron or gamma ray feedback. In this article we present some results of Monte-Carlo simulation of electromagnetic avalanches in atmospheric conditions and calculation of gain coefficient for both positron and gamma-ray feedback. The calculations were maid for realistic fields and acceleration cell sizes (up to 200 kV/m and 400 m respectively). The calculated gain coefficients for realistic fields and cell sizes are less than 10% which strongly discourages use of positron and gamma feedback model to describe TGF phenomenon and other gamma-production mechanisms in atmosphere under normal conditions. Modern packages for the design and simulation of cyclotron magnet systems, such as Tosca, CST Studio, Comsol, etc., combined with recent hardware of high performance, allow us to simulate and estimate even a subtle impact on the magnetic field distribution caused by small details and other systems of the accelerator. Such reckoning provides the data to perform and simulate the refilnement of the magnet called the 'shimming'. That means a signifilcant part of the commissioning stage could be done in 'virtual reality'. This could substantially decrease the duration of the shimming procedure of the real magnet and the amount of the material wasted on it, eventually this results in a fileld of high-precision which could be compared to real one. Kinematic filtting is one of the popular particle physics problems where constraint minimization is used. The constraints setting additional relations between parameters p can be given in form of equations φ(p1,..., pn) = 0. Often these equations are non-linear and complicated, and thus it is impossible or impractical to eliminate redundant parameters directly. The article covers employing of the minimization approach called a method of elimination of differentials, that is being developed at JINR as an extension to the FUMILI minimizer, and is intended for kinematic filtting in particle physics experiments. In this work a new lab-scale method dedicated to the evaluation of both concentration and oxidation level of mercury in flue gases from pulverised fuel fired boiler was proposed. To detect the abovementioned parameters, 2 main steps need to be evaluated. Firstly, a calorimeter bomb is utilised - by a proper implementation of mass balance of mercury within substrates and products, the quantity of oxidised mercury in gaseous products can be evaluated. Then, to simulate solid fuel fired power unit and to calculate mercury concentrations in flue gases, one of the stoichiometric mathematical models of combustion process must be applied. Early validation of the method showed considerable differences between solid fuels in mercury oxidation efficiencies and concentrations in flue gasses. Four examined fuels (lignite, hard coal and 2 types of solid biomass) was investigated. Calculated mercury concentrations in raw flue gas (>700°C) varied between 4 and 75 µg/m3ref. The lowest quantity of oxidised forms ofHg in flue gases were identified in the case of investigated lignite (27% of total Hg), while significantly higher – for selected hard coal (72%) and one type of biomass (with high chlorine concentration; up to 98%). One of the most important problems of data processing in high energy and nuclear physics is the event reconstruction. Its main part is the track reconstruction procedure which consists in looking for all tracks that elementary particles leave when they pass through a detector among a huge number of points, so-called hits, produced when flying particles fire detector coordinate planes. Unfortunately, the tracking is seriously impeded by the famous shortcoming of multiwired, strip and GEM detectors due to appearance in them a lot of fake hits caused by extra spurious crossings of fired strips. Since the number of those fakes is several orders of magnitude greater than for true hits, one faces with the quite serious difficulty to unravel possible track-candidates via true hits ignoring fakes. We introduce a renewed method that is a significant improvement of our previous two-stage approach based on hit preprocessing using directed K-d tree search followed a deep neural classifier. We combine these two stages in one by applying recurrent neural network that simultaneously determines whether a set of points belongs to a true track or not and predicts where to look for the next point of track on the next coordinate plane of the detector. We show that proposed deep network is more accurate, faster and does not require any special preprocessing stage. The superconducting synchrotron Nuclotron [1] is the one of the main parts of the NICA/MPD project [2] in the Laboratory of High Energy Physics of JINR in Dubna. During the work on updating the Nuclotron control and monitoring systems the new injection beam profiles measurement system was developed, produced and successfully put into operation. The current deuteron beam polarimetry at Nuclotron is provided by the Internal Target polarimeter based on the use of the asymmetry in dp-elastic scattering at large angles in the cms at 270 MeV. The upgraded deuteron beam polarimeter has been used to obtain the vector and tensor polarization during 2016 runs for the DSS experimental program. The polarimeter has been used also for tuning of the polarized ion source parameters for 6 different spin modes. The LumiCal electromagnetic calorimeter is designed for the forward region of future electron-positron colliders, such as CLIC and ILC. It is intended to improve hermeticity of detectors by detecting electrons, positrons, and photons at small angles. Currently, the detector prototypes are studied in the beam test conditions. An important part of the signal processing is the digital filltering implemented in the read-out electronics, influencing the precision and quality of gathered data. BM@N (Baryonic Matter at Nuclotron) is the first experiment at the accelerator complex of NICA-Nuclotron at JINR (Dubna). The aim of the experiment is to study collisions of relativistic ion beams of the kinetic energy from 1 to 4.5 AGeV with fixed targets. The last run started a new physics program of BM@N – Short Range Correlations (SRC) studies in light nuclei. The BM@N setup allows detecting of the residual nucleus for the first time. BM@N tracking detectors play a key role in the identification of the nucleus after hard scattering in inverse kinematics. Higgs boson production in association with a single top quark is the only process sensitive to the sign of the Top Yukawa coupling. We present a Monte-Carlo study of the pp → tHqb process and discuss the esperimental signatures that can help to discover it at the LHC. Emittance scans are short van der Meer type scans performed at the beginning and at the end of LHC fills. The beams are scanned across each other in x and y planes. CMS has analyzed these scans to understand long-term trends in CMS luminosity detectors. The CMS Beam Radiation, Instrumentation and Luminosity (BRIL) project provides to LHC three independent online luminosity measurements from the Pixel Luminosity Telescope (PLT), the Fast Beam Condition Monitor (BCM1F) and the Forward Hadronic calorimeter (HF). The excellent performance of the BRIL detector front-ends, fast back-end electronics and CMS XDAQ based data processing and publication allow the use of emittance scans for linearity and stability studies of the luminometers. Possibility to use Modular Total Absorption Spectrometer (MTAS) as a device to measure complete decay scheme, including β-n of neutron rich isotopes, has been investigated. We investigated reaction cross section and inelastic collisions of the wide number of projectile and target nuclei using the Coulomb Modified Glauber Model (CMGM). The total reaction cross sections were calculated with and without accounting for in-medium effect for various heavy projectiles such as 56Fe26, 84Kr36, 132Xe54, 197Au79 and 238U92 that interact with Nuclear Emulsion Detector's (NED) nuclei at incident energies at around 1 GeV/n. In the scope of this study, the Ag2S·CdS·3SnS2 solid electrolyte disordered in the Cd/Sn sublattice is explored by means of the approach involving configurational space (CS) setting and first-principles calculations. Within the density functional theory calculations on the CS, the absolute differences in Ag vacancy formation energies up to 2.6 eV/cell were obtained for possible Cd/Sn dispositions. Subsequently, silver ion migration was modeled using the nudged elastic band method. The migration energies in the range of 0.250 to 2.993 eV/cell were obtained. By application of topological descriptors, namely, the relative disposition of Cd atoms and the number of Cd atoms in the vicinity of Ag vacancy, the reliable correlations were obtained between the Cd/Sn relative disposition and the calculated energy characteristics. Doping and intercalation ion disordering complicate drastically computer modeling of cathode material properties and behavior during charge-discharge processes. For layered cathode material, parameters of the energetically favored entries of compositional/configurational spaces (CCS) are known to correlate well with the CCS mean values. For the CCS (20760 configurations) of commercially used Li1-xNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2, a comparative analysis of electrostatic energies and those obtained using first-principles calculations was performed. Based on the Coulomb energy values, the CCS subgroups containing energetically favorable configurations (ca. 25% of the total number of CCS entries) can be identified reliably for Li deficiencies x ≤ 0.5. Further delithiation results in discrepancies between the title methods demonstrating a limited applicability of the simplified selection procedure. The most apparent reason for this is dispersion interaction which can significantly influence structure behavior and shift energetic properties of the layered cathode materials at high lithium deintercalation levels. Nowadays there is a continuously increasing worldwide concern for the utilization of magnetic semiconductor nanocomposites. We synthesized bifunctional magnetic–luminescent nanocomposites with Fe3O4 nanoparticles as the cores and CdSe as the shells by a facile direct precipitation method. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images revealed that the obtained bifunctional nanocomposites had a core–shell structure, in a spherical shape with a particle radius of about 10.3nm, and the shell thickness of about 2.2nm. The flower shape is due to the inhomogeneous growth of CdSe due to the presence of many active sites which turn to be nucleation centers for the CdSe on the surface of the nano-magnetite. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns showed a cubic spinel structure of the Fe3O4 core. Magnetic measurements indicated that the presence of CdSe in the composite reduces its magnetic properties. Optical measurements of the Fe3O4/CdSe nanocomposite show that the prepared samples have dual functions, optical tunable band gap of the semiconductor quantum dots and the magnetic properties of magnetite. Structural properties and phase composition of nanoparticles based on iron oxide were studied. Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy were used for the analysis of phase transformations. According to XRD and Mossbauer spectroscopy data, an increase in the annealing temperature, as well as the subsequent phase transformations of magnetite into maghemite and then to hematite, indicate an improvement in the structure and a decrease in microdistortions in the lattice as a result of annealing defects and vacancies. According to Mossbauer spectroscopy data at temperatures above 400°C, the lines of characteristic FeO, which are characteristic for disordered iron oxide, are observed, which also confirms the improvement of the crystal structure of nanoparticles. The results of studying the resistive properties of Nb-Ti tapes in high magnetic fields close to the upper critical field (Hc2) are reported. The voltage-current curves (VCCs) and resistance-current cures (RCCs) show an "abnormal" hysteresis which is opposite in sign to a common thermal one caused by self-heating. Several features were noted: the existence of threshold current below which VCCs are reversible and the presence of excessive voltage noise in the hysteresis region. Earlier the similar behaviour was observed in granular superconductors. The nature of the "granular" properties of Nb-Ti tapes in high magnetic field and the relation with other observed effects, such as the irreversibility field and the apparent anisotropy of the upper critical field are discussed. Nitrogen is by-product from cryogenic air separation processes used for oxygen production for metallurgy and oxygen-enriched combustion purposes. If the gases are delivered from air separation unit (ASU) in liquid phase, liquid nitrogen (LN2) can be used as energy accumulator for stabilization of electrical grid system with large share of renewable energy sources. When the energy demand is high and not enough electricity is generated in power plants, energy accumulated in LN2 may be recovered in a cryogenic power cycle. This work presents Fe3O4 and AgFe nanoparticles with an average diameter of 25 and 15 nm synthesized by chemical reduction of corresponding salts under a mild condition. Cubic crystal structure and spherical shape of the nanoparticles were studied by X-ray diffraction, Field emission SEM and energy-dispersive spectroscopy analysis. For biomedical applications, the nanoparticles were tested against bacteria E.coli and results revealed AgFe nanoparticles' antibacterial activity by forming lysis zone in scale of 0.5 mm. The work deals with an experimental and theoretical analysis of a special heat exchanger filled with the PCM (Phase Change Material) mixture of paraffin wax capsuled in the melamine-formaldehyde membrane and water, dedicated to low-temperature storage applications. In the first part of the article, the PCM topic was introduced. The next part consists information about the designed and manufactured special heat exchanger with the PCM. During the experiment as a PCM is utilized mixture of paraffin wax in microcapsules within the water. The experimental results of temperature distributions and stored energy in the heat exchanger were compared with the theoretical model proposed in the literature. Due to the effective development of ion-track technology, it became possible to produce porous templates with large areas, which are of interest for mass production of nanostructures. Given that the template parameters often define properties of the resulting nanostructures and nanosystems, a reliable method for non-destructive testing is needed for a rapid control of template parameters. Such method could be ellipsometry, allowing for a single measurement to collect statistical information from a large area and to save time for certification. In order to adapt the ellipsometry method for controlling the parameters of ion-track patterns, the first studies of SiO2/Si templates with low porosity were carried out. Using the standard model of the interaction of a polarized light beam with a layered structure of silicon oxide on silicon, the basic parameters of the pores were determined by means of mathematical transformations and subsequently compared with the results of scanning electron microscopy. The P¯ANDA Experiment will be one of the key experiments at the Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR) which is under construction now in the territory of the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt, Germany. P¯ANDA is aimed to study hadron spectroscopy and various topics of the weak and strong forces. Muon System is chosen as the most suitable technology for detecting the muons. The Prototype of the P¯ANDA Muon System is installed on the test beam line T9 at the Proton Synchrotron (PS) at CERN.
