Efficacy of some insecticides new chemistry insecticides was evaluated against chilli thrips Scirtothrips dorsalis and yellow mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus, during kharif, 2019 and green and red chilli samples were subjected to residue analysis to evaluate the persistence of sprayed pesticides. Spinetoram 11.7SC at 60 g a.i./ ha was observed to be superior in managing chilli thrips with a mean reduction of 93.35% with least thrips population (0.53/ top 3 leaves) followed by cyantraniliprole 10.26OD at 60 g a.i./ ha and spirotetramat 15.31OD with 90.78 and 85.44 mean % reduction, respectively. Management of yellow mites was effective in plots treated with abamectin 1.9EC at 7 g a.i./ha of 85.73 mean per cent reduction followed by chlorfenapyr 10SC at 100 g a.i./ ha (83.48%) and emamectin benzoate 5SG at 10 g a.i./ ha (76.64%). Lambda-cyhalothrin and chlorantraniliprole residues were detected in green and red chilli among the sprayed pesticides. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A multi-residue method was developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of 39 and 33 chemical pesticides in rice using LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS, respectively. The coefficient of determination was 0.994 to 0.999 over the linear concentration range of 0.01 to 0.1 μg mL-1. The LOD and LOQ were in the range of 0.31 to 3.35 and 1.04 to 10.06 μgkg-1, repsectively. The mean recoveries at 0.01, 0.05, and 0.1 mgkg-1 were found within the range 70 to 120% with satisfactory precision (RSD < 15%). Measurement uncertainty (Uexp) values estimated at 0.05 mgkg-1 spiking level were found lower than 20 μgkg-1 for all tested pesticides. A rice and wheat powder check samples under the proficiency test were analyzed using a standardized method, and the Z score recorded within the acceptable range of −2 to +2. The proposed method was applied to analyze the pesticides in real samples collected from the market and quantified the residues. The developed method could be useful for monitoring 72 chemical pesticides in rice matrices and can be adopted for the pesticide monitoring program. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A multi‐residue analytical method for analysis of 34 pesticides was standardized and validated using gas chromatography‐tandem mass spectrometry. The calibration curve constructed for each pesticide was linear over the concentration of 10 to 100 μg/L and the correlation coefficient ranged between 0.998 and 0.999. The limit of quantification and detection were in the range of 1.6 to 3.5 and 4.9 to 10.5 μg/kg, respectively. The sample preparation technique involving solid‐phase extraction using primary secondary amine and magnesium sulfate with acetonitrile provided acceptable recoveries in the range of 70.60 to 119.56% for 10 μg/kg, 70.12 to 115.58% for 50 μg/kg, and 71.51 to 118.11 for 100 μg/kg spiking levels with acceptable relative standard deviation. The field‐collected red chili samples were screened and the pesticide residues were quantified by using gas chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry.
