Abstract

The article presents a study which reports the occurrence and biological characteristics of glass eels of the Japanese eel Anguilla japonica collected in the Cagayan River of Luzon Island, Philippines from January to February 2009. The study is investigated by morphological screening, genetic species identification, and linear regression analysis. Results show that 52 of 767 glass eels were identifed as A. Japonica while the remaining were tropical anguillid species.
