Complexes of 4-[(4-fluorophenyl)amino]-4-oxobut-2-enoic acid, HL, with Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Nd(III), Gd(III), and Er(III) were synthesized and characterized by various physico-chemical methods: elemental analysis, FT-IR, TG, DTG, DSC, TG/FT-IR, XRF, XRD, and magnetic measurements using the Gouy's method and a SQUID-VSM magnetometer. The complexes were found to be hydrates (except Er(III) complex) containing 1 to 4 molecules of water. The carboxylate groups acted as bidentate ligands. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A consistent algorithmic treatment of the incremental Mori-Tanaka (MT) model for elasto-plastic composites is proposed. The aim is to develop a computationally efficient and robust micromechanical constitutive model suitable for large-scale finite-element computations. The resulting overall computational scheme is a doubly-nested iteration-subiteration scheme. The Newton method is used to solve the nonlinear equations at each level involved. Exact linearization is thus performed at each level so that a quadratic convergence rate can be achieved. To this end, the automatic differentiation (AD) technique is used, and the corresponding AD-based formulation is provided. The paper presents selected examples of solutions and specific user applications associated with the industrial forging processes. Various process specific issues encountered during many years of bilateral collaboration with the forging industry are addressed and analysis methods are presented. As demonstrated in numerous articles and publications, the parameters influencing the die forging process are subject to complicated and mutually related dependencies, which can affect and complicate the methods of analysis. For this reason, researchers, more and more frequently, involve the use of additional support tools such as CAD / CAM / CAE, numerical modelling based on FEM, tool surface scanning methods, physical modelling, advanced microstructural research and dedicated control-measurement systems to validate engaged solutions. The research conducted by the authors included mainly: an analysis of the preform preparation, the impact of the geometry on the forging quality and the heating methods of the material and the tools, analysis of the tribological conditions, as well as an optimization of selected processes in respect of the force parameters, strain and temperature distributions and finally, a weight minimization of the input material. The issues discussed by the authors in the article intend, on the basis of the experience of its creators, to review the issues of the current forging technology and to indicate its possible solutions and development directions. The effect of temperature on the viscoelastic behavior of chicken meat frankfurters was assessed by creep recovery tests. Compression creep-recovery tests were performed at room temperature (20°C) and refrigeration (5°C) on samples of cylindrical shape. The viscoelastic behavior of samples was characterized based on the parameters of the fourelement Burgers Model. During the compression phase, greater deformation was observed in samples analyzed at higher temperature, and it was demonstrated by a drop in elastic modulus and internal viscosity values of Kelvin-Voigt elements with an increase in temperature. The final percentage recovery of frankfurter samples decreased with an increase in temperature. The differences in compliance between samples analyzed at different temperatures can be attributed to temperature-induced changes in the properties of frankfurter fat. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The complexes of 3,5-dimethoxybenzoates of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) have been synthesized as hydrated polycrystalline solids and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, FIR and electronic spectroscopy, magnetic studies and X-ray diffraction measurements. They possess colours typical of the M(II) ions: Cu-blue, Ni-green, Co-pink. The carboxylate groups bind as monodentate or a symmetrical, bidentate chelating or bridging ligands. The thermal stabilities were determined in air. When heated they dehydrate to form anhydrous salts which are decomposed to the oxides of respective metals. The magnetic susceptibilities of the complexes were measured over the range 77-300 K and the magnetic moments were calculated. The results reveal the complexes of Ni(II) and Co(II) to be high-spin complexes and that of Cu(II) to form dimer. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We study the functional relationship between quantum control pulses in the idealized case and the pulses in the presence of an unwanted drift. We show that a class of artificial neural networks called LSTM is able to model this functional relationship with high efficiency, and hence the correction scheme required to counterbalance the effect of the drift. Our solution allows studying the mapping from quantum control pulses to system dynamics and analysing its behaviour with respect to the local variations in the control profile. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
