In this study, we explore the efficacy of gold (Au) as a selective electrocatalyst for the reduction of nitrate to hydroxylamine, a valuable nitrogen-based chemical, while also evaluating the by-product formation of ammonia. We systematically optimized various experimental parameters including nitrate concentration, pH, and applied potential. We found that at an applied potential of −0.7 V vs. RHE in 0.1 M HNO3, Au achieves a 230.1 ± 19 μmol NH2OH h−1 cm−2 yield, with a 34.2 ± 2.8% faradaic efficiency. The validity of N2 reduction experiments relies on control experiments with isotopically labeled 15N2. Here we discovered significant 15NH3 contamination (73 ppm) in commercial 15N2 and also observed the prescence of oxidized 15N in amounts comparable to the typical reported ammonia yields. Recently, the detection and quantification of humidity has attracted great interest, but for fluorescence sensing of humidity, it is still a challenge to achieve high-performance. Here, we report an ultrasensitive and high-performing luminescence humidity sensor based on perovskite/zeolite composite, Cs4PbBr6/FAU-Y. The zeolite FAU-Y acts as a support for dispersing amorphous Cs4PbBr6 nanoparticles (11 ± 2 nm), which rapidly undergo a moisture-mediated transformation into a highly luminescent CsPbBr3 perovskite, due to the hydrophilic nature of the zeolite substrate. The composite exhibits strong fluorescence response ((I–I0)/I0) (992 for 98% RH, 91.7 for 7% RH), good linearity, low detection limit (0.56% RH), while producing highly reproducible and stable optical signals. Test paper embedded with the moisture sensitive composite yields a simple and reliable naked-eye method for detecting moisture exposure within anhydrous products and dry storage environments. This work showcases a unique concept to develop turn-on humidity sensors based on the bright metal halide perovskite luminescence, thus promoting innovative practical applications outside their typical scope of applications such as solar cells, photodetectors, or light emitting diodes (LEDs). This paper describes a model suitable for forecasting the use of publicly funded long-term elderly care, taking into account both ageing and changes in the health status of the population. In addition, the impact of socioeconomic factors on care use is included in the forecasts. The model is also suitable for the simulation of possible implications of some specific policy measures. The model is a static micro-simulation model, consisting of an explanatory model and a population model. The explanatory model statistically relates care use to individual characteristics. The population model mimics the composition of the population at future points in time. The forecasts of care use are driven by changes in the composition of the population in terms of relevant characteristics instead of dynamics at the individual level. The results show that a further 37 % increase in the use of elderly care (from 7 to 9 % of the Dutch 30-plus population) between 2008 and 2030 can be expected due to a further ageing of the population. However, the use of care is expected to increase less than if it were based on the increasing number of elderly only (+70 %), due to decreasing disability levels and increasing levels of education. As an application of the model, we simulated the effects of restricting access to residential care to elderly people with severe physical disabilities. The result was a lower growth of residential care use (32 % instead of 57 %), but a somewhat faster growth in the use of home care (35 % instead of 32 %). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Reforming the system of financial instruments on the housing market is a recurring issue. This paper constructs a model explaining household behaviour, in particular the effects of prices and income on the tenure choice and the level of housing consumption. It analyses the effects that may be expected of fundamental changes of financial policy instruments in the Netherlands: (1) a conversion of below market rents to market rent levels; (2) a switch from the current fiscal system for owner-occupiers to a general lump sum tax reduction; and (3) a combination of these measures. The results indicate that the initial disadvantageous effects on the housing costs are large, but the behavioural response of households and the expected changes of price levels considerably reduce or even eliminate longrun effects.
