Purpose: This study aims to examine various factors influencing the inclination of students toward Green Entrepreneurial Intention (GEI), including University Support (USP), Family Support (FSP), Religiosity (REL), Commitment to Environment (CEN) and Green Entrepreneurial Motivation (GEM), as well as Attitude towards Green Entrepreneurship (AGM). Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected through an online survey of Muslim students at Indonesian Islamic universities. A five-point Likert scale was used in the online questionnaire, with 419 processed data. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data and test the relationship between the variables. Findings: The results showed that AGM, CEN and REL impacted GEM. AGM was influenced by FSP but not by USP while GEI was significantly influenced by AGM, FSP and USP. Research limitations/implications: The limitation of the study is the composition of the sample, consisting solely of Islamic university students. Another limitation is the variables used. Future studies should analyze other factors, such as role models, green knowledge or family background. Practical implications: This study provided fresh perspectives by empirically establishing a framework for assessing GEI, considering REL variables, an unexplored area conceptually. Practically, it helped to advance sustainable entrepreneurship education, particularly in Islamic universities. Accordingly, it provided several practical contributions for universities to develop curricula that better support green entrepreneurship among students. This study explores the factors influencing the use of microlearning in the public sector by applying the DeLone and McLean Information Systems Success Model (DMISM). The study focuses on the role of overall quality, compatibility, and transformational leadership in shaping the actual use of microlearning systems. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 317 employees of Indonesian Government Financial Institutions (Lembaga Keuangan Pemerintah) through an online survey. The data were analyzed using covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) in LISREL 8.8. The results indicate that overall quality, compatibility, and transformational leadership have significant and positive impacts on the actual use of microlearning systems. Among these factors, compatibility emerged as the strongest predictor of use. The findings suggest that improving the quality of microlearning content, aligning it with employee preferences, and developing a supportive leadership environment are key to increasing the adoption and effectiveness of micro-learning in public sector organizations. Objective: The study aimed to investigate and evaluate the impact of person-organization fit (POF), person-job fit (PJF), and person-group fit (PGF) on turnover intention through job satisfaction (JS) in startup companies. Startup companies play an important role in society and the global economy. Design/Methods/Approach: Data was gathered through an online survey of workers in startup businesses, with 449 data. The analytical method used in this study was LISREL's Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) analysis to examine the relationship between employee fit, such as person-organization fit, person-job fit, and person-group fit, on turnover intention, mediated by job satisfaction. Findings: The findings show that job satisfaction is positively and significantly impacted by person-organization fit, person-job fit, and person-group fit. Job satisfaction was found to fully mediate the effect of person-organization fit, person-job fit, and person-group fit on turnover intention. Originality: Limited research focuses on startup companies, so this study is unique. There is still a need for more research on person-group fit, as most research has focused on person-organization fit and person-job fit. Practical implication: In order to create and maintain job satisfaction among employees, companies can create an environment that encourages open and transparent communication within companies, letting employees freely express their thoughts, ideas, and concerns. Furthermore, prioritizing work-life balance by offering flexible work schedules is critical to increasing job satisfaction. Then, they should align with their values, provide rewards, provide effective supervision, and foster a positive work environment. This is crucial to reduce turnover intention in startup companies. Violence experienced by adolescents has an impact on them both in terms of personality and the way they view life. This study aims to find out how the lives of adolescents who experience family violence become meaningful. The research method in the study used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological research type. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling system with data collection methods in the form of in-depth interviews with five participants. The results showed that adolescents who were victims of violence by their parents interpreted life in various ways. They lose trust in others and see life as a struggle for survival. They no longer identify their parents as parental figures. Teenagers see parents as threatening and insecure. Adolescent victims of violence fill their lives with sadness because they do not get affection, and they want freedom from their parents. This study concludes that adolescents who experience violence tend to try hard to survive the hard life they get. The findings of this study underscore the profound impact of family violence on adolescents' perceptions of their lives and interpersonal relationships. Understanding these experiences is critical to developing targeted interventions and support systems aimed at reducing the long-term effects of violence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Since beliefs and emotions are involved in teachers’ daily professional life, this case study aimed to reveal the beliefs of pre - service teachers (PST) emotional strategies and the reasons underlying their beliefs during teaching practicum. Six PSTs from three Indonesian universities who conducted teaching practicum in three different school areas participated in this study. Fruitful data were gained from classroom observations, in -depth interviews, and journal entries. The findings reveal that Indonesian PSTs believe designing both a lesson plan and a second one is significant in preparing the classroom situation appropriately for students. These strategies can improve their self-confidence and motivation and help them regulate down emotions to respond to spontaneous incidents. They also believe in cognitive strategies that the students' problems and the teacher's weaknesses provoke the students' misbehavior. To up -positive emotion regulation, they believe in fake strategies showing their excitement and enthusiasm in teaching through verbal and nonverbal cues. However, hiding and avoiding emotions are not suitable due to harmful impacts. Hence, teachers have to unveil their emotions in appropriate situations. Teachers' attention to all students is pivotal for learning and growth. Thus, PSTs' emotional competence must be enhanced, for they have the ability to identify, analyze, regulate, and express emotions in the proper context and situation. The teacher education program must give PSTs full support by including emotional competence as one of the subjects or a part of the course contents to promote positive beliefs on emotion regulation. A doctor's legal responsibility is a doctor's "relationship" to legal provisions in carrying out his profession. The responsibility of a doctor in the field of law is divided into three parts, namely the responsibility of a doctor in the field of civil law (Articles 1365, 1366, 1426) criminal, (Article 322, Article 351, Article 356 of the Criminal Code regarding abuse, Article 359, Article 360, and Article 378 of the Criminal Code regarding acts of fraud and ethical responsibility. Legal protection for patients in health services claiming their rights as regulated in Article 276 of the Health Law, can claim compensation for health workers and/or health providers who cause losses due to errors or negligence of doctors. The research method used in this study is a normative research method using various types of primary legal materials in the form of laws and regulations and secondary legal materials in the form of literature materials related to the legal responsibility of doctors in health services as a source of research materials. Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is a long-term complication of diabetes mellitus (DM). The gold standard for diagnosis of DKD is kidney biopsy, but it is difficult to perform. Several clinical conditions have found an association between higher ANGPTL4 plasma levels in DKD. Angiopoeitin Like 4 (ANGPTL4) is a glycoprotein that regulates lipid and glucose metabolism, mediates proteinuria and is involved in glomerular disease. Studies have found ANGPTL4 levels to be elevated in diabetic conditions. Objective: To investigate the role of serum ANGPTL4 as a marker for early detection of DKD. Methods: A total of 87 patients with Type 2 DM were analysed using an observational analytic method with a crosssectional design. The study subjects were divided into DKD and non DKD groups, then serum ANGPTL4 was measured using the sandwich ELISA method. Furthermore, ANGPTL index cutoff was determined. Several other variables including glycemic control, duration of DM, history of hypertension, and dyslipidemia were analysed for their association with DKD and non DKD groups. The study continued by conducting multivariate analysis with logistic regression. Results: A total of 23 (26.4%) subjects were classified as DKD and 64 (73.6%) subjects as non DKD. ANGPTL cutoff determination of 16.64 ng/mL had a sensitivity and specificity of 87% and 51.6%, respectively. Bivariate analysis showed glycaemic control, duration of DM, and serum ANGPTL4 (p=0.044; p=0.009; p=0.014) were associated with the incidence of DKD. Multivariate analysis showed that serum ANGPTL4 with a cutoff of >16.64 ng/mL could be used as an independent predictor of DKD incidence with an adjusted OR of 6.73 (95%CI= 1.79-25.30; p=0.005). Conclusion: serum ANGPTL4 is an independent predictor of DKD. Suggestion: Urine sampling for UACR examination twice, periodic examination of serum ANGPTL4 levels to assess the progressiveness of DKD. Purpose: This study investigates the impact of government and economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on companies' business operations, especially risk-taking tendencies and corporate financial reporting quality (FRQ). Design/methodology/approach: The study employs the generalised least squares regression model. The final sample comprised 27,376 company-year observations from eight countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Findings: EPU has a negative and significant effect on investment activity and FRQ. Higher EPU leads to a decline in investment and FRQ. Research limitations/implications: There are several limitations in this study. First, the authors used abnormal investments to measure investments, without considering the degree of irreversibility investment objectives. Second, although control variables are included at the company and country levels, they may only partially control for companies' mitigation effects. Third, the sample is limited to developing countries with unique characteristics in Asia-Pacific; therefore, the findings cannot be generalised. Practical implications: The findings can help investors, analysts and regulators evaluate EPU's impact on companies' business activities by offering an overview regarding the decline in investment efficiency and FRQ. The results can also be used as input for regulators in formulating policies that encourage companies to regulate investment levels without harming other stakeholders and maintain FRQ during periods of uncertainty. Originality/value: This research provides intriguing insights into EPU's effects on companies' investment activity and FRQ in developing countries, which are sensitive to changes in macroeconomic conditions. Objective: This study aims to investigate the effect of a high-performance work system (HPWS) and proactive personality on job performance and examine the role of psychological capital as mediation in the proposed research model. Design/Methods/Approach: This study adopts quantitative approaches by distributing cross-sectional surveys of multi-sector employees; 231 respondents were collected. The data collected underwent model evaluation and structural equation modeling using Smart PLS 3.2.9, employing the embedded two-stage approach. Findings: The statistical analysis indicates that High-Performance Work Systems (HPWS) and proactive personality directly impact job performance. Moreover, they also have an indirect positive impact through mediation by psychological capital. Originality: This study contributes to the existing literature by investigating the mediating role of psychological capital on the influence of HPWS and proactive personality on job performance in the context of workers in various industrial sectors in Indonesia. This study confirms that HPWS, proactive personality, and psychological capital positively impact employee job performance. It also supports the broaden-and-build theory of positive emotions and the JD-R model in Indonesian workplaces. Practical/Policy implication: The findings of this study can provide valuable insights, evidence, and knowledge to academics and Human resource managers. By implementing High-Performance Work Systems (HPWS), recruiting workers with a proactive personality, and improving employee job performance, organizations can build a solid human resource base that can contribute to achieving optimal organizational goals. Breast cancer ranks as the second leading cause of death among women, but early screening and self-awareness can help prevent it. Hormone therapy drugs that target estrogen levels offer potential treatments. However, conventional drug discovery entails extensive, costly processes. This study presents a framework for analyzing the quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) of estrogen receptor alpha inhibitors. Our approach utilizes supervised learning, integrating self-attention Transformer and molecular graph information, to predict estrogen receptor alpha inhibitors. We established five classification models for predicting these inhibitors in breast cancer. Among these models, our proposed MATH model achieved remarkable precision, recall, F1 score, and specificity, with values of 0.952, 0.972, 0.960, and 0.922, respectively, alongside an ROC AUC of 0.977. MATH exhibited robust performance, suggesting its potential to assist pharmaceutical and health researchers in identifying candidate compounds for estrogen alpha inhibitors and guiding drug discovery pathways. Aging is a progressive process caused by a physiological decline in body functions. It is known that several factors can accelerate aging, namely age, lifestyle, oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, and mitochondrial damage. Various pollutants such as cigarette smoke, motor vehicle fumes, industrial waste, and exposure to sunlight / ultraviolet light will form free radicals. Malondialdehyde (MDA) level is one of the indicators used to measure oxidative stress. Increased MDA levels are found in various degenerative diseases. This study aims to determine plasma MDA levels in the age group of 40 years and over and factors that can affect plasma MDA levels. This study was a cross-sectional study by including 42 subjects. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire to obtain subject demographic data and physical activity, as well as physical examinations complemented by laboratory examinations and MDA levels. The mean age of the subjects was 52.7 years, and most of the 32 (76.2%) subjects were categorized as obese and had high activity. Pearson correlation test obtained body mass index statistically significantly correlated with plasma MDA levels with a value of p = 0.039, as well as physical activity statistically significantly correlated with a negative correlation, with a value of r = -0.26 and p = 0.043. Introduction: The prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) in Indonesia is 39% and it is higher in females than in males (46% vs. 28%). Features of this syndrome comprise low-grade chronic inflammation and endothelial dysfunction from cardiometabolic abnormalities. High-sensitive C-reactive protein (HsCRP) is a biomarker of cardiovascular disease, whereas ferritin and pentraxin-3 (PTX-3) are markers of chronic inflammation. One of the markers of endothelial dysfunction is an intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1). Studies on MetS in women aged 50-70 years and using several markers of inflammation and endothelial dysfunction are rare. The study aimed to determine differences in HsCRP, ferritin, PTX-3, and ICAM-1 level between females with and without MetS aged 50-75 years. Methods: For this cross-sectional study, 160 females aged 50-75 years from South Jakarta were recruited, divided into MetS and non-MetS (control) groups, 80 participants each. Participants that met the inclusion criteria were assessed for vital signs and metabolic parameters (e.g., lipid profile, fasting blood glucose level, and waist circumference [WC]). The groups were compared using an independent t-test for inflammatory (i.e., HsCRP, PTX-3, and ferritin) and endothelial dysfunction (ICAM-1) (p < 0.05) biomarkers. Results: The mean age of the MetS and control groups was 59.6 ± 5.6 and 59.2 ± 5.5 years. MetS criteria included WC of ≥80 cm (95.2%), increased blood pressure level (90.6%); and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol of <50 mg/dL (76.2%). Significant differences were found between the MetS and control groups for ferritin (p = 0.027), PTX-3 (p = 0.045), and ICAM-1 (p = 0.004) but not for HsCRP (p = 0.136). Conclusion: Elevated ferritin, PTX-3 level, and ICAM-1 level are significantly associated with an increased Mets risk in females aged 50-75 years; however, the same is not true for HsCRP. Women workers face a variety of challenges in the world of work. In addition to facing dual role conflicts for married female workers, they also face various stressors at their jobs. This will leave women vulnerable and have an impact on workers' emotional well-being. This study sought to ascertain the connection between female workers' propensity for psychopathological symptoms and occupational stressors. One hundred and thirty-four female office workers were recruited for this cross-sectional study. Subjects were questioned about age, education, marital status, and years of work for describing respondents' characteristics. The diagnostic stress survey and symptom checklist 90 were used for measuring work stressors and determining the tendency of psychopathological symptoms, respectively. Data were statistically analyzed using the chi-square test, the Fisher exact test, and logistic regression, where appropriate, with a meaningfulness level of p < 0,05. Results show that quantitative workload stressors, qualitative workloads, and career development are associated with psychopathological symptoms, but after continuing with The Logistic regression test found that career development stressors were mainly associated with the appearance of psychopathological symptoms (p= 0.003; OR= 10,069.95 % CI 2,238 - 45,296). Research Aims: This study examines the effect of training content on trainee outcomes and the mediating role of trainees' motivation in the relationship between training content and organisational citizenship behaviour. Design/Methodology/Approach: A cross-sectional research design was employed to collect 320 survey questionnaires from employees at the Malaysian federal government's central agencies in Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory. The SmartPLS software programme was utilised to assess the quality of the instrument and subsequently test the hypotheses. Research Findings: The results demonstrate that training content significantly determines trainee outcomes. Trainees' learning motivation significantly mediates the relationship between training content and organisational citizenship behaviour. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study reveals that training motivation mediates the relationship between training content and organisational citizenship behaviour in the organisational sample. This finding supports and broadens previous studies conducted in South East Asian and other countries. Managerial Implication in the South East Asian context: The study findings can assist managers in understanding different paradigms of trainees' motivation construct and formulate employee-oriented training instructions to maintain and upgrade organisational sustainability. As more ambitious protected area (PA) targets for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework are set beyond Aichi Target 11, renew thinking into spatial prioritisation is required to enable PA expansion that maximises environmental values. Our study focuses on the biodiverse and forest-rich Indonesian island of Sulawesi, which has a terrestrial PA network that covers 10% of the island. We used Marxan to investigate trade-offs in the design of an expanded PA network that prioritised different conservation features (biodiversity, forest cover, carbon stock, karst and valuable metal-rich areas) under varying island-wide coverage targets (17%, 30%, and 50%). Our first scenario, which required existing PAs to be selected, required larger areas to meet these coverage targets, in contrast to our second scenario, which allowed for any part of the island to be chosen, irrespective of PA status. The vast Mekongga and Bangkiriang Landscapes, and Gorontalo corridor were consistently identified as a high priority for protection under all scenarios. To meet our conservation targets through expanding current PAs, creating new PAs, and creating corridors that connect existing PAs, we used a spatially explicit three-phase approach. Our findings identified 26,508 km2 of priority areas to be included in the current PA network, potentially assisting Indonesia in meeting its post-2020 GBF target, if our approach is replicated across Indonesia as a national or sub-national analysis. Excessive consumption of paracetamol may lead to hepatic necrosis, nephrotoxicity, extra-hepatic lesions, and even fatality in humans and animals. The objective of this study was to examine the histological changes in the hepatocytes of yellow rasbora (Rasbora lateristriata) exposed to paracetamol. The fish were subjected to varying concentrations of paracetamol over four days. Group I served as the control group without any paracetamol exposure. Groups II, III, and IV were exposed to 2, 3, and 4 mg/L of paracetamol, respectively. A total of six individuals were allocated to each of the four experimental groups. The histological analysis of the hepatic tissue following paracetamol exposure at concentrations of 2, 3, and 4 mg/L revealed hepatic damage characterized by picnosis, necrosis, and vacuolization. In summary, higher concentrations of paracetamol were associated with an increase in the severity of histopathological changes in the hepatic tissues of yellow rasbora. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The development of Shariah Online Trading System (SOTS) on securities is expected to facilitate investors in investing the Sharia sector. However, the majority of SOTS applications have not implemented literacy features related to investment in the Islamic capital market. On the other hand, knowledge and skills regarding financial products and services need to be possessed in order to understand the benefits and risks of these financial products and services. The purpose of this research is to find out about the innovation of financial literacy features, especially about investments in islamic capital markets so that investors can manage their investments and minimize risk in investing. This research method uses narrative review. The results showed that innovation was carried out by adding features of digital literacy services that contain educational content related to Islamic capital market investment in SOTS applications through educational content presented in various formats. Introduction: Spinocerebellar ataxia type-3 (SCA3) is an adult-onset autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disease. It is caused by expanding of CAG repeat in ATXN3 gene that later on would affect brain structures. This brain changes could be evaluated using brain MRI volumetric. However, findings across published brain volumetric studies have been inconsistent. Here, we report MRI brain volumetric analysis in a family of SCA 3 patients, which included pre-symptomatic and symptomatic patients. Methodology: The study included affected and unaffected members from a large six-generation family of SCA 3, genetically confirmed using PolyQ/CAG repeat expansion analysis, Sanger sequencing, and PCR. Clinical evaluation was performed using Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA). Subjects' brains were scanned using 3.0-T MRI with a 3D T1 BRAVO sequence. Evaluations were performed by 2 independent neuroradiologists. An automated volumetric analysis was performed using FreeSurfer and CERES (for the cerebellum). Result: We evaluated 7 subjects from this SCA3 family, including 3 subjects with SCA3 and 4 unaffected subjects. The volumetric evaluation revealed smaller brain volumes (p < 0.05) in the corpus callosum, cerebellar volume of lobules I-II, lobule IV, lobule VIIB and lobule IX; and in cerebellar gray matter volume of lobule IV, and VIIIA; in the pathologic/expanded CAG repeat group (SCA3). Conclusion: Brain MRI volumetry of SCA3 subjects showed smaller brain volumes in multiple brain regions including the corpus callosum and gray matter volumes of several cerebellar lobules. The long-term use of some drugs causes side effects in the form of elevated liver enzyme levels. Meanwhile, antipsychotic drug therapy in people with mental disorders induces liver injury which leads to an elevation in serum glutamic oxaloacetic and pyruvic transaminases. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between the uses of antipsychotic drugs with elevated liver enzymes in people with mental disorders. This observational study used a cross-sectional design that included 69 people with mental disorders. The respondents were selected based on consecutive non-random sampling, while the data were collected using a questionnaire to obtain the universal characteristics of the subjects, therapy duration, and antipsychotic type, as well as an examination of AST and ALT levels using the ultraviolet test method. Furthermore, data analysis was conducted using the chi-Square test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that thirty-two among the respondents or 46.4% used atypical antipsychotics, while 37 or 73.0% received the drugs for 1-6 months. In the subjects receiving typical antipsychotics, 10 or 55.6% had a significant elevation in liver enzymes compared to others receiving atypical antipsychotics namely 6 (18.8%) or a combination of both drugs namely 6 (31.6%). Therefore, the type of antipsychotic used in therapy has a significant relationship with elevated liver enzymes in people with mental disorders (p=0.028). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Research Aims - This study aims to highlights the role of innovative work behavior (IWB) in determining task performance. The main antecedents of IWB, namely work autonomy and individual global mindset, are discussed, as well as how these two key factors will detemine the degree of individual innovative behavior. Design/Methodology/Approach - This study uses a cross-sectional design with convenience sampling methods to collect primary data and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) to test the hypothetical model and analyse the data. Research Findings - As many as 309 points of data were received; following screening and selection protocols, the final dataset consisted of 284 responses from employees in innovation center units of a leading ICT company in Indonesia. Findings of this study indicate a positive effect of work autonomy, individual global mindset, and task performance with regard to the mediating effect of IWB. Theoretical Contribution/Originality - This study contributes in defining the positive effects of work autonomy and individual global mindset on IWB and closing the gap regarding the role of IWB in mediating the effect of work autonomy and individual global mindset upon task performance. Managerial Implications in the Southeast Asian Context: As the local market is no longer sufficient to achieve further growth, competing firms need to enter the international or global market; this can be achieved through improved performance resulting from highly innovative behavior. Research Limitations & Implications - Limitations include the limited response rate due to the work-from-home policy during the pandemic, as well as generalizability issues. Conserving large carnivores that live in close proximity to people depends on a variety of socio‐economic, political and biological factors. These include local tolerance toward potentially dangerous animals, efficacy of human–carnivore conflict mitigation schemes, and identifying and then addressing the underlying causes of conflict. The Leuser Ecosystem is the largest contiguous forest habitat for the critically endangered Sumatran tiger. Its extensive forest edge is abutted by farming communities and we predict that spatial variation in human–tiger conflict (HTC) would be a function of habitat conversion, livestock abundance, and poaching of tiger and its wild prey. To investigate which of these potential drivers of conflict, as well as other biophysical factors, best explain the observed patterns, we used resource selection function (RSF) technique to develop a predictive spatially explicit model of HTC. From 148 conflict incidences recorded from 2008 to 2018 across the Leuser Ecosystem, the areas that were closer to villages and with lower occurrence of wild prey were most susceptible to tiger attacks. From 18 districts monitored, 6 stood out for having disproportionately high levels of HTC. We recommend that these areas be prioritized with increased support from conflict mitigation teams to prevent further injuries to people, livestock or tigers; district governments address one underlying cause of HTC by supporting improved animal husbandry practices, such as tiger‐proof livestock pen construction; and, an increase in ranger patrol effort to recover wild prey populations. This type of priority setting approach has wide application for better determining the required management response to reduce conflicts between people and large carnivores in both tropical and temporal landscapes. Primates are one of the most threatened groups of mammals. Understanding their patterns of population occurrence and abundance, especially in response to threats, is critical for informing conservation action. The crested black macaque Macaca nigra is the only Critically Endangered species of Sulawesi's seven endemic macaques. Little is known about its distribution or its response to deforestation and hunting. We conducted a camera-trap survey across the entire species range using an occupancy-based analytical approach to (1) establish the first range-wide baseline of occurrence, (2) investigate how environmental and anthropogenic factors influence occurrence, (3) identify priority conservation subpopulations, and (4) test the efficacy of the sampling and analytical protocol for temporal monitoring of M. nigra using occupancy as the state variable. From 9,753 camera-trap days, M. nigra was detected on 473 days at 77 of the 111 camera locations. Species occupancy was 0.66 and highest inside protected areas and closed canopy forest. We identified eight distinct subpopulations, based on distribution and forest fragment size. To inform future monitoring, we used a power analysis to determine if our effort would allow us to detect inter-annual occupancy declines of 10%, and found that 90 camera locations surveyed for 3 months (8,100 camera days) across three consecutive seasons is the effort required to detect such change with 80% certainty. Our study underscores the importance of well-managed protected areas and intact forests for the long-term survival of the crested black macaque, and tests the effectiveness of camera traps to monitor primates at the landscape scale. The Sulawesi civet Macrogalidia musschenbroekii is endemic to the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, where it is the largest mammalian predator. Limited field data means that little is known about the species' distribution, habitat preferences, conservation status and needs, but it is believed to depend on primary forest. We conducted camera-trap surveys across the forests of North Sulawesi, including in two of its main protected areas: Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park and Tangkoko Nature Reserve. From 148 camera trap stations and 10,371 trap nights, Sulawesi civets were recorded 17 times at 12 stations, and in almost equal numbers in primary forest, secondary forest and farmland, including the first photographic records from both the National Park and Nature Reserve. We also collected data on the Malay civet Viverra tangalunga, an introduced species of Viverridae and potential competitor. Our records (n = 21) revealed that it is established in secondary forest; it only co-occurred twice with the Sulawesi civet. With a lapse of > 20 years since the last field record of the Sulawesi civet, our findings offer new insight into its status and new enthusiasm within the provincial government for its conservation, which has led to an extension of camera-trap research into neighbouring Gorontalo province. Cobalamin as surrogate biomarker of vitamin B12 has various limitations. There are several other markers that can be used to determine the vitamin B12 concentration in the body, such as methylmalonic acid (MMA). The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of vitamin B12 deficiency using appropriate cut-off levels of cobalamin and MMA and to determine the relationship between cobalamin and MMA as biomarkers of vitamin B12 deficiency in the elderly. This study was of cross-sectional design and was performed on 80 elderly women aged 60-75 years, from January to April 2019. All subjects were asked to fill in a questionnaire, then the subjects meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria underwent examination for anthropometric measures, vital signs, dietary recall, food frequency for vitamin B12, serum MMA and cobalamin. Data analysis was carried out with inter-quartile one-way Anova and the Spearman test between MMA and cobalamin concentrations, at level of significance p of < 0.05. The prevalence of B12 deficiency based on cobalamin was 8.75%, whereas the prevalence based on MMA was 72.3 %. The MMA concentration did not decrease consistently with increasing inter-quartile cobalamin concentration. The results of the Spearman test showed a low negative correlation between cobalamin and MMA, with r = -0.233 and p<0.043. In conclusion, the prevalence of B12 deficiency based on the MMA concentration was higher than that based on the cobalamin concentration. Expectations of healthy living are greater in women than men at the age of 60 years. In life after a healthy life expectancy, often women begin to get sick. The prevalence of peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in women increases with age, so more women than men have PAD after age 40 years. PAD is often undiagnosed in women, because many do not show clinical symptoms that can lead to ongoing disease and increase the risk of unexpected events and mortality. Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) tests predict death and adverse cardiovascular events regardless of traditional cardiovascular risk factors, and can be used to diagnose PAD. The study was conducted with a cross-sectional method on 146 women in District X, South Jakarta, conducted in February to July 2020. Data collection included demographic characteristics data, physical examination including weight, height, manual blood pressure and ABI (Ankle Brachial Index) examination. In this study it was found that the age of the respondents varied from 50 to 70 years. The mean systolic blood pressure was 145.20 + 25.204 mmHg and the mean diastolic blood pressure was 85.99 + 12.121 mmHg. The average value of the right ABI (1,024 + 0,108), the left ABI (1,027 + 0,112). Pearson correlation test results obtained diastolic blood pressure has a significant relationship with the value of the left ABI (p = 0.047 and r = - 0.164). Based on that, we can conclude that increased diastolic blood pressure is significantly associated with lower ABI values. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Xenotime sand, a byproduct of the tin mining process of PT Timah, is one of the potential gadolinium (Gd) resources. Because of similarities in their physical and chemical properties, it is difficult to separate and purify Gd from rare earth elements (REEs) in xenotime sand (i.e., yttrium and dysprosium). In the present work, Gd was separated through an extraction process using Cyanex 572. The extraction feed solution was prepared by digesting the REE oxalate in NaOH to obtain REE(OH)3. The effects of the extraction parameters (i.e., stirring time and rate, feed pH and concentration, and Cyanex 572 concentration) were examined via a batch experiment. The optimum results of Gd separation from yttrium concentrate were achieved when the process conditions included a 250-rpm stirring rate for 30 minutes, a 150X10³-ppm feed concentration at pH 3, and a 30% Cyanex 572 concentration. These conditions gave distribution coefficient results for Y, Gd, and Dy of about 0.031, 0.827, and 1.060, respectively; separation factors of Gd-Y and Gd-Dy of about 26.482 and 0.780, respectively; and extraction efficiencies for Y, Gd, and Dy of about 3.119%, 46.627%, and 53.007%, respectively. Summary: Destruction of tropical rainforests reduces many unprotected habitats to small fragments of remnant forests within agricultural matrices. To date, these remnant forest fragments have been largely disregarded as wildlife habitat, and little is known about mammalian use of these areas in Sumatra. Here, we conducted camera trap surveys (2285 trap-nights) within Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park and five surrounding remnant forest fragments during 2010–2013 and used species composition metrics to compare use. We found 28 mammal species in the protected forest and 21 in the fragments. The fragments harboured a subset of species found in the protected forest and several species not observed in the protected forest. Critically endangered species such as Sunda pangolin (Manis javanica) and Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) were found in the forest fragments, along with species of conservation concern such as marbled cat (Pardofelis marmorata) and Asiatic golden cat (Pardofelis temminckii). The biodiversity found within the fragments suggests that these small patches of remnant forest may have conservation value to certain mammal species and indicates the importance of further research into the role these habitats may play in landscape-level, multispecies conservation planning. Primates are among the most threatened taxa of mammals in the world. Tracking the status of primates requires continually assessing population distribution, abundance, and threats, which in turn requires the extent of a species' occurrence to be known. Defining this important parameter in practice can be difficult. In this article we demonstrate how camera traps can be used to address this with a case study involving two macaque species on the northernmost peninsula of Sulawesi, Indonesia. We deployed 83 camera traps across the suspected interface between the Critically Endangered Macaca nigra and the Vulnerable Macaca nigrescens. Using spatially explicit photographic records of both species, we found the boundary between the two species is 14.85 km farther west than previously defined. We estimate that the additional area encompassed by this new boundary location equates to 224 km2 of suitable habitat for M. nigra, an increase of 7.5%. This has important implications for more accurately assessing the threatened status of both species in the future. As camera traps become cheaper, their deployment at broader spatial scales is becoming more feasible, which in turn provides opportunities to enhance our ecological understanding of species. Here, we demonstrate an additional insight that can be gained from such technology, by showing how the range extent of a Critically Endangered primate can be accurately demarcated. Reliable information on wildlife populations and the threats they face is crucial for assessing the performance of conservation strategies. As part of its efforts to improve the effectiveness of Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park in Sumatra, Indonesia, and aid the recovery of flagship species, the Park's management authority designated a 1,000 km2 forest block an Intensive Protection Zone. To set a baseline from which to evaluate the performance of this zone, we investigated the density of tigers Panthera tigris sumatrae, and spatio-temporal interactions between tigers, their principle prey and threats. The estimated density of tigers was 2.8 per 100 km2, whereas in 2002 camera-trapping failed to record any tigers in the Intensive Protection Zone. We found the study area contained a rich prey base, with muntjac deer Muntiacus muntjak, macaques Macaca nemestrina and wild pigs Sus scrofa occupying 85–98% of the area, and sambar Rusa unicolor 61%. Despite these promising findings we also recorded a relatively high number of people entering the Park illegally, with 77 incidents over 6 months, of which 20% involved armed poachers. The poachers operated mainly at night and were concentrated in two locations. Law enforcement patrol teams were active during the day, and therefore had little overlap with the poachers. Prioritizing these at-risk areas for increased protection by rangers would further secure the Intensive Protection Zone, and expanding ranger activity across the Park would support efforts to remove the Park from UNESCO's List of World Heritage In Danger.
