To tackle the challenge of ground-level ozone pollution, this study proposed a potential catalytic design approach for ozone decomposition using Cu–Mn bimetallic oxide. This approach is grounded in an understanding of the intrinsic reactivity for catalyst and incorporates a novel potassium-driven low-temperature oxidation process for catalyst synthesis. The research highlights the creation of a highly reactive Cu–Mn oxide phase with extensive defect coverage, leading to significantly increased reaction rates. It also identifies the MnO2(100) facet as a crucial active phase, where oxygen vacancies simultaneously enhance O3 adsorption and decomposition, albeit with a concurrent risk of O2 poisoning due to the stabilization of adsorbed O2. Crucially, the incorporation of Cu offsets the effects of oxygen vacancies, influencing conversion rates and lessening O2 poisoning. The synergistic interplay between Cu and oxygen vacancies elevates the performance of the defect-rich Cu–Mn oxide catalyst. By combining computational and experimental methods, this study not only advances the understanding of the Cu–Mn oxide system for ozone decomposition but also contributes valuable insights into developing more efficient catalysts to mitigate ozone pollution. Context: Osteitis pubis (OP), which occurs as a result of excessive use of the symphysis pubis and parasymphysis bones, is more common in long-distance runners and kicking athletes, especially football players. Due to the poor results of commonly used treatments for OP, there is a need for investigation of more effective treatments, such as ozone therapy. Ozone therapy is used to treat a variety of diseases, including musculoskeletal conditions. Case Presentation: A 30-year-old amateur soccer player diagnosed with OP received conservative treatment with traditional physiotherapy and analgesic medications. After 6 months and no resolution of symptoms, the patient presented to the sports medicine outpatient clinic seeking alternative therapy options. Management and Outcomes: The patient received ozone injections in 3 sessions administered at 10-day intervals. At 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after the treatment, the patient's complaints and pain levels were re-evaluated and examined. The patient was able to return to competition at the same level after the first injection. No recurrence was revealed at a minimum of 12 months of follow-up. Exposure to ambient ozone (O3) is linked to increased mortality risks from various diseases, but epidemiological investigations delving into its potential implications for cancer mortality are limited. We aimed to examine the association between short‐term O3 exposure and site‐specific cancer mortality and investigate vulnerable subgroups in Brazil. In total 3,459,826 cancer death records from 5570 Brazilian municipalities between 2000 and 2019, were included. Municipal average daily O3 concentration was calculated from a global estimation at 0.25°×0.25° spatial resolution. The time‐stratified case‐crossover design was applied to assess the O3‐cancer mortality association. Subgroup analyses by age, sex, season, time‐period, region, urban hierarchy, climate classification, quantiles of GDP per capita and illiteracy rates were performed. A linear and non‐threshold exposure‐response relationship was observed for short‐term exposure to O3 with cancer mortality, with a 1.00% (95% CI: 0.79%–1.20%) increase in all‐cancer mortality risks for each 10‐μg/m3 increment of three‐day average O3. Kidney cancer was most strongly with O3 exposure, followed by cancers of the prostate, stomach, breast, lymphoma, brain and lung. The associated cancer risks were relatively higher in the warm season and in southern Brazil, with a decreasing trend over time. When restricting O3 concentration to the national minimum value during 2000–2019, a total of 147,074 (116,690–177,451) cancer deaths could be avoided in Brazil, which included 17,836 (7014–28,653) lung cancer deaths. Notably, these associations persisted despite observed adaptation within the Brazilian population, highlighting the need for a focus on incorporating specific measures to mitigate O3 exposure into cancer care recommendations. The use of biocide-loaded hydrogels has recently been exploited for cleaning the biological attacks of cultural heritage and architectural stone materials. However, considering the drawbacks of traditional biocides, and the high costs of synthetic polymers, growing research for innovative and sustainable solutions are taking place. The aim of this work is to explore a bacterial cellulose (BC) hydrogel functionalized with ozone as a renewable, biodegradable, and easy-to-use antimicrobial remedy for stone biodeterioration. The BC microstructure was characterized by Field Emission-Scanning Electron Microscopy observation and high crystallinity was detected by X-ray diffraction analysis. Ozonated BC (OBC) hydrogels were tested against selected biodeteriogenic microorganisms in water suspension abolishing their viability, with its complete suppression after a 10-min and a 24-h treatment with OBC, for bacterial and fungal spores, respectively. Furthermore, the OBC was assessed on contaminated marble, brick, and biocalcarenitic stone specimens for simulating in situ conditions. A 100% reduction of microbial viability after a 24-h treatment was obtained. Successively, the shelf-life of the hydrogel and the antimicrobial activity were also evaluated after 30 days, demonstrating a subsequent cleaning efficiency along time. Dementia encompasses a spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders significantly impacting global health, with environmental factors increasingly recognized as crucial in their etiology. Among these, ozone, has been identified as a potential exacerbator of neurodegenerative processes, particularly in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Ozone exposure induces the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which penetrate the BBB, leading to oxidative damage in neuronal cells. This oxidative stress is closely linked with mitochondrial dysfunction and lipid peroxidation, processes that are foundational to the pathology observed in dementia, such as neuronal death and protein aggregation. Furthermore, ozone triggers chronic neuroinflammation, exacerbating these neurodegenerative processes and perpetuating a cycle of CNS damage. Recent studies highlight the role of peripheral biomarkers like High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) and Triggering Receptor Expressed on Myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) in mediating ozone's effects. Disruption of these and other identified proteins by ozone exposure impairs microglial function and response to amyloid plaques, suggesting a novel pathway through which ozone may influence AD pathology via immune dysregulation. This review discusses the concept of a bidirectional lung-brain axis, illustrating that systemic responses to air pollutants like ozone may reflect and contribute to neurodegenerative processes in the CNS. Elevated near-surface ozone (O3) concentrations have surpassed the tolerance limits of plants, significantly impacting crop growth and yield. To mitigate ozone pollution, plants must evolve a rapid and effective defense mechanism to alleviate ozone-induced damage. DNA methylation, as one of the most crucial epigenetic modifications, plays a pivotal role in maintaining gene stability, regulating gene expression, and enhancing plant resilience to environmental stressors. However, the epigenetic response of plants to O3 stress, particularly DNA methylation variations and their intergenerational transmission, remains poorly understood. This study aims to explore the epigenetic mechanisms underlying plant responses to ozone stress across generations and to identify potential epigenetic modification sites or genes crucial in response to ozone stress. Using Open Top Chambers (OTCs), we simulated ozone conditions and subjected foxtail millet to continuous ozone stress at 200 nmol mol-1 for two consecutive generations (S0 and S1). Results revealed that under high-concentration ozone stress, foxtail millet leaves exhibited symptoms ranging from yellowing and curling to desiccation, but the damage in the S1 generation was not more severe than that in the S0 generation. Methylation Sensitive Amplified Polymorphism (MSAP) analysis of the two generations indicated that ozone stress-induced methylation variations ranging from 10.82% to 13.59%, with demethylation events ranged from 0.52% to 5.58%, while hypermethylation occurred between 0.35% and 2.76%. Reproductive growth stages were more sensitive to ozone than vegetative stages. Notably, the S1 generation exhibited widespread demethylation variations, primarily at CNG sites, compared to S0 under similar stress conditions. The inheritance pattern between S0 and S1 generations was mainly of the A-A-B-A type. By recovering and sequencing methylation variant bands, we identified six stress-related differential amplification sequences, implicating these variants in various biological processes. These findings underscore the potential significance of DNA methylation variations as a critical mechanism in plants' response to ozone stress, providing theoretical insights and references for a comprehensive understanding of plant adaptation mechanisms to ozone stress and the epigenetic role of DNA methylation in abiotic stress regulation. Tomato is the second most valuable vegetable crop, and its susceptibility to tropospheric ozone (O3) varies on the cultivar. Eight tomato cultivars with documented O3 sensitivity were reevaluated using ethylenediurea (400 ppm EDU) to determine the effectiveness of EDU in assessing O3 sensitivity under heavily O3-polluted tropical conditions. EDU helped in amending the growth, photosynthetic pigments, photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, and yield characteristics in the tomato cultivars. EDU reduced the lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species content, while enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant responses differed across cultivars. The cultivar Superbug and Sel-7 (O3 susceptible) performed better by employing more biomass and yield and exhibiting more potent antioxidative defense machinery mainly non-enzymatic antioxidants after EDU treatment. The higher value of total antioxidative potential (TAP) in O3 susceptible cultivars suggested the adaptive resilience through EDU application against O3 stress. EDU application greatly enhanced the photosynthetic rate in O3 susceptible cultivars by increasing the stomatal conductance. Hence, both biophysical and biochemical responses were involved in protection against O3 provided by EDU. Kashi chayan and VRT02 (O3 tolerant) cultivars showed least response to EDU, due to their efficient inherent mechanisms in alleviating O3 stress. This study was performed to: detect the histological, immunohistochemical, and biochemical alterations that may occur in the testes of adult rats in induced hypothyroidism. And to investigate which one, ozone or MSCs-MVs have better therapeutic effect on testicular changes after hypothyroidism. Eighty-four male adult rats were separated into: control group, hypothyroidism group: rats will be given carbimazole for 30 days, ozone group: rats treated as hypothyroidism group then will be injected with ozone intraperitoneal for 7 days. MSC-MVs group: rats treated as hypothyroidism group then will be injected with a single intravenous dose MSC-MVs. Specimens of testes were handled for light, electron microscope, and immunohistochemical of vimentin and S100. Biochemical analysis for; MDA and TNFα; serum testosterone, TSH, T3, and T4 was done, also, sperm count and morphology assay. Morphometric and statistical analysis were performed. Hypothyroidism group showed disorganized seminiferous tubules. A noticeable gap was between the basement membrane and the germinal epithelium. Wide interstitium had congested vessels and acidophilic homogenous material. Vacuolated germinal epithelium and few germ cells had dark nuclei with noticeable separation of between the basement membrane and the germinal epithelium. Ozone and MSCs-MVs induced improvement in all the previous parameters and restoration of spermatogenesis. The drain current (ID) of indium gallium zinc oxide thin-film transistors (IGZO-TFTs), fabricated by spin coating, decreases even when they are exposed to ozone gas at a concentration equal to or lower than 5 ppm. The ID reduction rate increases when the film thickness and the firing temperature in the spin-coating process of IGZO layer decreases. In these samples, the peak intensity ratio of the O 1s X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) peak due to the OH group and the intensity of the infrared (IR) absorption band at 3000 cm−1–3500 cm−1 due to the OH stretching vibration increase. This indicates that OH groups within the IGZO film contribute to the ozone reaction mechanism. These findings are significant for developing high-sensitivity ozone sensors using a simpler process. Batch heterogeneous catalytic ozonation experiments were performed using commercial and synthesized nanoparticles as catalysts in aqueous ozone. The transferred ozone dose (TOD) ranged from 0 to 150 μM, and nanoparticles were added in concentrations between 0 and 1.5 g L−1, with all experiments conducted at 20 °C and a total volume of 240 mL. A Ce-doped TiO2 catalyst (1% molar ratio of Ce/Ti) was synthesized via the sol–gel method. Response surface methodology (RSM) was applied to identify the most significant factors affecting the removal of selected pharmaceuticals, with TOD emerging as the most critical variable. Higher TOD resulted in greater removal efficiencies. Furthermore, it was found that the commercially available metal oxides α-Al2O3, Mn2O3, TiO2, and CeO2, as well as the synthesized CeTiOx, did not increase the catalytic activity of ozone during the degradation of ibuprofen (IBF) and para-chlorobenzoic acid (pCBA). Carbamazepine (CBZ) and diclofenac (DCF) are compounds susceptible to ozone oxidation, thus their complete degradation at 150 μM transferred ozone dose was attained. The limited catalytic effect was attributed to the rapid consumption of ozone within the first minute of reaction, as well as the saturation of catalyst active sites by water molecules, which inhibited effective ozone adsorption and subsequent hydroxyl radical generation (●OH). Serious concerns exist that the increasing frequency of fires may delay the recovery of ozone given increasing temperatures due to climate change. Australian bushfires from September 2019 to February 2020 were catastrophic. A random forest spatial-temporal (RF sp) analysis using satellite data to detect an association between Australian bushfires and stratosphere ozone on the local depletion of ozone in the vicinity of fires in three regions of Australia (Pacific Ocean, Victoria, NSW) has shown a significant reduction in ozone attributable to aerosols from fires. By intervention analysis, increases in aerosols in all three regions were shown to have a significant and ongoing impact 1–5 days later on reducing ozone (p < 0.0001). Intervention analysis also gave similar periods of aerosol exceedance to those found by Hidden Markov models (HMMs). HMMs established a significant and quantifiable decline in ozone due to bushfire-induced aerosols, with significant lags of 10–25 days between times of aerosol exceedance and subsequent ozone level decline in all three regions. This study has analyzed ozone pollution in Tianjin from 2013 to 2022, focusing on the relationships between ozone distribution, meteorological conditions, and precursor substances. A method for identifying high-value areas of ozone precursors using the Ozone Sensitivity Factor (FNR) has been introduced. Results show that the average ozone concentration in Tianjin has been 100.608 µg/m3, with an annual growth rate of 2.84 µg·m⁻3·yr⁻¹. Tianjin has ranked among the top provinces and urban agglomerations in China for both ozone concentration and growth rate. Ozone levels have peaked in summer, followed by spring, autumn, and winter, while the growth rate has been highest in spring. This indicates that ozone pollution extends from summer into spring and autumn. An analysis of six ozone pollution events reveals significant regional transmission impacts from northern Hebei and Inner Mongolia, contributing over 30%, with additional significant contributions from southern and southwestern Hebei and western Shandong. In terms of controlling ozone precursors, high-HCHO-value areas have been identified. The correlation between areas of high HCHO values and ground-level ozone concentrations was 0.56339 during the ozone season and 0.2214 during the non-ozone season, both of which improved identification accuracy to varying degrees, suggesting that targeting precursor emissions in these areas could enhance pollution mitigation efforts. Cryptosporidium is a waterborne pathogen that causes diarrhea in vertebrates and humans (mainly C. hominis and C. parvum). Ozone (O3) is a powerful disinfectant due to its high oxidative characteristics, and it is used to inactivate microorganisms in drinking water. As an alternative to the gas dissolution system for producing ozone from oxygen, a simpler electrolytic ozone generation system has recently been developed. In the present study, the efficacy of the ozonated water produced by this system in inactivating Cryptosporidium parasites (C. parvum) was evaluated at different current intensities (which change the ozone concentrations) and short exposure times (15–60 s). Oocyst viability and integrity was assessed using vital dye staining, excystation assays, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM data revealed that oocyst walls were damaged by exposure to ozone molecules even at low concentrations (< 0.01 mg/l for 1 min) (current intensity 0.2 A), but that the excystation assay could not differentiate between deformed oocysts (dead) and partially excysted oocysts (alive). Exposure to ozonated water produced with a low current intensity (0.3 A) for 15 and 120 s resulted in the inactivation of 96.2% (CT value < 0.003) and 99.4% (CT value < 0.020) of the oocysts, respectively. Thus, it was estimated that a CT value more than 0.020 was required to inactivate > 99% of the C. parvum oocysts. These results suggested that the electrolytic ozone generation system may be more effective than gas dissolution ozone generation; however, further studies using additional approaches are needed to obtain clearer evidence. This study investigates the efficacy of ozone treatment combined with different packaging methods on the preservation of Taiwanese domestically produced beef during refrigerated storage. The preservation of fresh beef is crucial for ensuring food safety and quality; we do not know whether changing the packaging method can mitigate the negative effects of ozone on meat and even enhance its positive impact. Beef samples were treated with ozone and packaged using the vacuum or PVDC-tray methods, then stored at 4 °C for 7 days. The results show that ozone treatment effectively inhibited microbial (total plate count, Salmonella, and Escherichia coli) growth (p < 0.05). Vacuum packaging maintained lower TBARS values (p < 0.05) and metmyoglobin percentages compared to PVDC-tray packaging (p < 0.05). The L* values of all treatments increased over storage time, with significant differences observed between days 0 and 7. Ozone treatment combined with vacuum packaging demonstrated promising results in inhibiting microbial growth and preserving beef quality during refrigerated storage. Objectives: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis on long-term exposure to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3) with mortality, to expand evidence that informed 2021 the WHO Air Quality Guidelines and guide the Health Risks of Air Pollution in Europe project. Methods: We included cohorts investigating NO2 and O3 mortality from all-causes, respiratory diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), acute lower respiratory infections (ALRI); and NO2 mortality from circulatory, ischemic heart, cerebrovascular diseases and lung cancer. We pooled estimates by random-effects models and investigated heterogeneity. We assessed the certainty of the evidence using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment Development approach and Evaluation (GRADE). Results: We selected 83 studies for NO2 and 26 for O3 for the meta-analysis. NO2 was associated with all outcomes, except for cerebrovascular mortality. O3 was associated with respiratory mortality following annual exposure. There was high heterogeneity, partly explained by region and pollutant levels. Certainty was high for NO2 with COPD and ALRI, and annual O3 with respiratory mortality. Conclusion: An increasing body of evidence, with new results from countrywide areas and the Western Pacific, supports certainty, including new outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three emerging non-thermal pretreatment methods, including cold plasma, ultrasound, and ozone water, were utilized to pretreat garlic slices before drying process. The garlic slices were then dried by hot air drying at 60 °C. The study investigated the drying kinetics, color, rehydration ratio (RR), allicin content (AC), total phenolic content (TPC), antioxidant activity, and microstructure of the garlic slices. The results showed that ultrasound and ozone water pretreatment can significantly enhance drying kinetics. In comparison to untreated samples, garlic slices pretreated with ultrasound for 20 min exhibited a 55.96% increase in moisture effective diffusivity (Deff). Garlic pretreated with ultrasound exhibited the best rehydration properties, yet it retained the lowest levels of allicin content and antioxidant activity. Encouragingly, samples treated with ozone water demonstrated the best nutritional quality properties, with approximately 7.85% higher AC, 25.90% higher TPC, and 12.31% higher antioxidant activity compared to untreated samples. The study also emphasizes notable alterations in the microstructure of garlic resulting from various pretreatments. This research provides valuable insights into optimizing garlic drying processes using emerging non-thermal pretreatment techniques, showcasing their potential for industrial applications and quality enhancement. Summary: This study investigates the impact of germination and ozone treatment on the nutritional and bioactive properties of grains of two amaranth varieties. The study focused on the proximate composition, antioxidant activity, phenolic and flavonoid content, and amino acid profile of untreated and treated grains of two amaranth varieties. Germination significantly increased the protein content by 18.5%, crude fibre by 25.7%, and total phenolic content by 34.2% compared to the control. Ozone treatment further enhanced these properties, with a notable increase in antioxidant activity by 41.8% and total flavonoid content by 29.6%. The amino acid profile analysis revealed a significant rise in essential amino acids, particularly lysine, which increased by 22.4% following the combined treatment. These findings suggested that the combined application of germination and ozone treatment significantly enhances the nutritional quality and bioactive properties of amaranth, making it a superior ingredient for functional food products. The results indicated that these processes could be effectively utilised to boost the health benefits of amaranth, contributing to the development of nutrient‐rich food products. Changes in ozone (O3) can be evaluated to inform policy effectiveness and develop reasonable emissions reduction measures. This study investigated the causes of summertime maximum daily 8-h average (MDA8) O3 variation between 2015 and 2020 in Nanjing, China, a megacity in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, from the perspective of meteorological conditions and anthropogenic emissions of O3 precursors (VOCs and Nox). Compared with 2015, the observed MDA8 O3 decreased by 19.1 µg/m3 in August 2020. The indirect and indirect impacts of meteorological conditions contributed 44% of the decline, with temperature, relative humidity, and wind playing important roles in the O3 variation. The O3 drop by 10.7 µg/m3 (56% of the total decrease) may have been due to the decreases in anthropogenic emissions of VOCs and NOx by 7.8% and 11.7%, respectively. The longer hydroxyl (OH) radical chain length and higher ozone production efficiency (OPE) indicated that the reduction of anthropogenic emissions accelerated the ROx (ROx = OH + HO2 + RO2) and NOx cycles in O3 production, making O3 more sensitive to NOx. This corresponded to the O3 formation shifting from a VOC-limited regime in 2015 to a transition regime in 2020 and O3 decrease with anthropogenic emission reduction. Water serves as a critical vector for the transmission of pathogenic microorganisms, playing a pivotal role in the emergence and propagation of numerous diseases. Ozone (O3) disinfection technology offers promising potential for mitigating the spread of these pathogens in aquatic environments. However, previous studies have only focused on the inactivated effect of O3 on a single pathogenic microorganism, lacking a comprehensive comparative analysis of various influencing factors and different types of pathogens, while the cost-effectiveness of O3 technology has not been mentioned. This review synthesized the migration characteristics of various pathogenic microorganisms in water bodies and examined the properties, mechanisms, and influencing factors of O3 inactivation. It evaluated the efficacy of O3 against diverse pathogens, namely bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi, and provided a comparative analysis of their sensitivities to O3. The formation and impact of harmful disinfection by-products (DBPs) during the O3 inactivation process were assessed, alongside an analysis of the cost-effectiveness of this method. Additionally, potential synergistic treatment processes involving O3 were proposed. Based on these findings, recommendations were made for optimizing the utilization of O3 in water inactivation in order to formulate better inactivation strategies in the post-pandemic eras. This study aimed to extend the storage time of fresh-cut lotus roots. A quantitative evaluation was conducted using the grey–correlation analysis method based on the variation–coefficient weight to observe the treatment of acetic acid (0, 2%, and 5%) and ozone (0, 0.3 mg/L, and 0.6 mg/L). Their effects on weight loss rate, browning degree, and the content of reducing sugar, ascorbic acid, and free amino acid were determined. Under varied treatments and storage time, the weight loss rate, browning degree, and content of nutritional components in fresh-cut lotus root differed. Result of the weighted correlation degree showed that for fresh-cut lotus root stored for more than 4 days, 0.3 mg/L ozone could be used as preservative to ensure the storage quality. Heterogeneous catalytic ozonation (HCO) emerges as a promising chemical industrial wastewater treatment solution, offering enhanced ozone utilization and reduced secondary pollutants. However, challenges in scaling HCO arise from a limited understanding of the catalytic mechanisms of metal oxides, particularly in generating active ozone sites. Here, we demonstrated the improvement of catalytic ozonation efficiency by enhancing the covalent bonding between FeO in Fe/Co spinel oxides. Ground‐level ozone pollution is a major concern for human health, ecosystems, and material degradation. This article presents a Co‐ and Fe‐based bimetallic layered double hydroxide (CoFe‐LDH) catalyst for ozone decomposition. The CoFe‐LDH catalyst exhibited 100% ozone decomposition efficiency over 24 h at a reaction rate of 35.3 μmol g−1 min−1. The synergetic effects between Co and Fe regulated the valence state, increased the number of Co vacancies, and increased the specific surface area and density of the hydroxyl groups on the surface. Moreover, the two metals facilitated different dissociation steps and the desorption step became exothermic after ozone enrichment on the surface, rendering every step concurrently spontaneous, which has not been observed in previously reported ozone decomposition catalysts. The vertical variations and key drivers of ozone and its precursors, namely NOx and VOCs, in the atmospheric boundary layer, have vital impacts on surface ozone budgets but are poorly understood so far. Using online gradient measurements from a 356 m tower, we obtained continuous vertical profiles of ozone and its precursors, which exhibited strong gradients throughout the day. In the daytime, the vertical gradients of ozone precursors are significantly regulated by reactions with OH radicals. At night, our observations confirmed more intense VOC reactions with NO3 radicals in the residual layer than in the boundary layer. Additionally, we found that residual layer entrainment could contribute to over half of the boundary-layer ozone enhancements in the morning periods. Our results underscore the importance of considering vertical changes of ozone and its precursors in the atmospheric boundary layer when developing future ozone mitigation strategies. Accurate and fine‐scaled prediction of ozone concentrations across space and time, as well as the assessment of associated human risks, is crucial for protecting public health and promoting environmental conservation. This paper introduces NetGBM, an innovative machine‐learning model designed to comprehensively model ozone levels across China's diverse topography and analyze the spatiotemporal distribution of ozone and exposure. Our model focuses on daily, weekly, and monthly predictions, achieving commendable R2 ${\mathrm{R}}^{2}$ coefficients of 0.83, 0.77, and 0.79, respectively. By constructing a gridded map of ozone and incorporating both land use and meteorological features into each grid, we achieved ozone prediction at a high spatiotemporal resolution, outperforming previous research in terms of performance and scale, particularly in regions with limited monitoring stations. The results can be further improved when applied to regional research using meteorological and ozone data from regional stations. Additionally, our research revealed that temperature is the most significant factor affecting ozone concentrations across China. In health risk assessment, we retrieved a high‐resolution spatial distribution of ozone‐attributed mortality for 5‐COD and daily ozone inhalation distributions during our study period. We concluded that ozone‐attributed mortality is predominantly caused by stroke and IHD, accounting for more than 70% of the total deaths in 2021, with the highest mortality rates in developed urban areas such as the NCP and the YRD. Our experiment demonstrated the potential of NetGBM in robustly modeling ozone across China with high spatiotemporal resolution and its applicability in measuring associated health risks. On‐road vehicles are significant contributors to air pollution globally, particularly to nitrogen oxides (NOx) and ozone (O3). Quantifying their contribution to air quality is crucial to understanding the trends of vehicle emissions as low‐ and "zero" emission vehicles join the fleet. Modeling on‐road emissions is complex due to various factors like fleet activities, traffic patterns, and meteorological conditions. We compare on‐road emissions from two mobile models: the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fuel‐based Inventory of Vehicle Emission (FIVE) and the US Environmental Protection Agency Motor Vehicle Emission Simulator (MOVES), finding they contribute 4%–33% to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), NOx, and fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in the contiguous United States (CONUS). Using a regional chemical transport model, we assess air quality effects under different emission scenarios. Both emission data sets yield satisfactory performance, with MOVES showing lower biases in ozone (O3) and PM2.5 over CONUS, while FIVE performs better at city scales due to higher urban NOx emissions. In January, on‐road emissions increased surface O3 over western and southern US by up to 9.1%–13.1% but decreased by 2.5% over the northeastern US, while PM2.5 predictions vary across the US (−85% to 24%). In July, on‐road emissions elevate O3 and PM2.5 concentrations by 15%–20% across CONUS, except in some west coast cities. They also greatly contribute to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) by more than 80% near roads and in urban areas. This study highlights the significant impact of on‐road emissions on urban air quality and provides insights for improving air quality forecasting and management. The far-UVC (222 nm) system has emerged as a solution for controlling airborne transmission, yet its effect on indoor air quality, particularly concerning positioning, remains understudied. In this study, we examined the impact of far-UVC lamp position on the disinfection and secondary contaminant formation in a small office. We employed a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model to integrate UV intensity fields formed by different lamp positions (ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted, and stand-alone types) along with the air quality model. Our findings reveal that the ceiling-mounted type reduces human exposure to airborne pathogens by up to 80% compared to scenarios without far-UVC. For all the lamp positions, O3 concentration in the breathing zone increases by 4–6 ppb after one hour of operation. However, it should be noted that a high concentration zone (> 25 ppb) forms near the lamp when it is turned on. Moreover, ventilation plays a crucial role in determining human exposure to airborne pathogens and secondary contaminants. Increasing the ventilation rate from 0.7 h−1 to 4 h−1 reduces airborne pathogen and secondary contaminant concentrations by up to 90%. Elevated near-surface ozone (O3) concentrations have surpassed the tolerance limits of plants, significantly impacting crop growth and yield. To mitigate ozone pollution, plants must evolve a rapid and effective defense mechanism to alleviate ozone-induced damage. DNA methylation, as one of the most crucial epigenetic modifications, plays a pivotal role in maintaining gene stability, regulating gene expression, and enhancing plant resilience to environmental stressors. However, the epigenetic response of plants to O3 stress, particularly DNA methylation variations and their intergenerational transmission, remains poorly understood. This study aims to explore the epigenetic mechanisms underlying plant responses to ozone stress across generations and to identify potential epigenetic modification sites or genes crucial in response to ozone stress. Using Open Top Chambers (OTCs), we simulated ozone conditions and subjected foxtail millet to continuous ozone stress at 200 nmol mol-1 for two consecutive generations (S0 and S1). Results revealed that under high-concentration ozone stress, foxtail millet leaves exhibited symptoms ranging from yellowing and curling to desiccation, but the damage in the S1 generation was not more severe than that in the S0 generation. Methylation Sensitive Amplified Polymorphism (MSAP) analysis of the two generations indicated that ozone stress-induced methylation variations ranging from 10.82% to 13.59%, with demethylation events ranged from 0.52% to 5.58%, while hypermethylation occurred between 0.35% and 2.76%. Reproductive growth stages were more sensitive to ozone than vegetative stages. Notably, the S1 generation exhibited widespread demethylation variations, primarily at CNG sites, compared to S0 under similar stress conditions. The inheritance pattern between S0 and S1 generations was mainly of the A-A-B-A type. By recovering and sequencing methylation variant bands, we identified six stress-related differential amplification sequences, implicating these variants in various biological processes. Ozone gas (O3) is a promising alternative for fungal inactivation in agricultural commodities. This study aimed to (i) investigate the influence of airflow on the saturation of popcorn kernels with ozone gas, (ii) evaluate its effectiveness in controlling Aspergillus flavus, and (iii) analyze the quality of ozonated grains. Samples of 3.0 kg of kernels were exposed to oxygen (control) or ozone at specific flow rates of 0.15 or 1.00 m3 min−1 t−1, with an input ozone concentration of 16.0 mg L−1 for 0, 6, 12, 24, 36, or 48 h. Quality parameters assessed included expansion volume, water content, electrical conductivity, and color. At 0.15 m3 min−1 t−1, ozone consumption and saturation time were lower, with an 80% reduction in A. flavus infection after 6 h. This flow rate did not affect grain expansion or water content. Conversely, at 1.0 m3 min−1 t−1, reductions in water content and expansion were observed with extended exposure. Electrical conductivity increased in both treatments, more significantly at the lower flow rate. Typhoons are one of the most important weather systems that can cause severe ozone (O3) pollution in eastern China. While the effects of individual typhoons on O3 concentrations have been extensively studied, the effects of consecutive northward typhoons and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear, partly due to the complex processes involved. Here, Typhoons Maysak and Haishen, two consecutive northward typhoons in 2020, are selected to investigate their impact on the O3 pollution in eastern China. The results show that consecutive northward typhoons not only produced and maintained meteorological conditions conducive to O3 generation (e.g., elevated temperatures and intensified solar radiation), but also facilitated local accumulation and cross-regional transport of O3. These factors jointly led to a 30% increase in O3 concentration in eastern China with a prolonged period of O3 pollution. Our work underscores the significance of complex meteorological conditions in O3 pollution occurrences during extreme weather events, advancing our understanding of how consecutive northward typhoons affect air quality. This work presents a year-long integral study of air quality parameters in Ciudad Real, a small city in the center of Spain, and its influence on the nearby national park, Las Tablas de Daimiel. The study covers meteorological parameters and criteria pollutants such as O3, NO, NO2, SO2, and PM10. Additionally, for each month, a 1-week campaign was performed sampling air in sorbent tubes with 8-h time resolution to analyze anthropogenic volatile organic compounds and the effects of seasons, daytime, and working-weekend days. During these campaigns, 24-h PM2.5 samples were also collected to measure the load of bacteria and fungi, as well as the trace concentrations of elements. The city and the national park NOx profiles showed that emissions from the town had a non-perceivable effect on the protected area. PM10 levels in Ciudad Real were influenced by Saharan intrusions, as was the national park; however, Ciudad Real had a higher contribution from anthropogenic sources. Ozone levels were lower in the city during the cold season due to the higher concentration of NOx and have not changed significantly in the last decade. The VOCs with higher average concentrations were toluene, m,p-xylene, benzene, methylene chloride, and o-xylene, with traffic being the main source of these pollutants in the city. For benzene and carbon tetrachloride levels, weak carcinogenic risks were estimated. In PM2.5, the most abundant metals were Na, Zn, Mg, Ca, Al, Fe, and K. The carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks estimated from the levels of the studied metals were negligible. Bacterial and fungal counts positively correlated with the concentration of PM2.5. Microbial community composition showed seasonal variability, with the dominance of human pathogenic bacteria which correlated with certain pollutants such as SO2. Background: Stroke is a leading cause of death worldwide, with oxidative stress and calcium overload playing significant roles in the pathophysiology of the disease. Ozone, renowned for its potent antioxidant properties, is commonly employed as an adjuvant therapy in clinical settings. Nevertheless, it remains unclear whether ozone therapy on parthanatos in cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury (CIRI). This study aims to investigate the impact of ozone therapy on reducing parthanatos during CIRI and to elucidate the underlying mechanism. Methods: Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was utilized to mimic the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in SH-SY5Y cell reperfusion injury in vitro, and an in vivo ischemic stroke model was established. Ozone saline was introduced for co-culture or intravenously administered to mice. Apoptosis and oxidative stress were assessed using flow cytometry and immunofluorescence. Western blotting was utilized to examine the expression of parthanatos signature proteins. The mechanism by which ozone inhibits parthanatos was elucidated through inhibiting PPARg or Nrf2 activity. Results: The findings demonstrated that ozone mitigated H2O2-induced parthanatos by either upregulating nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) or activating peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorg (PPARg). Furthermore, through the use of calcium chelators and ROS inhibitors, it was discovered that ROS directly induced parthanatos and facilitated intracellular calcium elevation. Notably, a malignant feedback loop between ROS and calcium was identified, further amplifying the induction of parthanatos. Ozone therapy exhibited its efficacy by increasing PPARg activity or enhancing the Nrf2 translation, thereby inhibiting ROS production induced by H2O2. Concurrently, our study demonstrated that ozone treatment markedly inhibited parthanatos in stroke-afflicted mice. Additionally, ozone therapy demonstrated significant neuroprotective effects on cortical neurons, effectively suppressing parthanatos. Conclusions: These findings contribute valuable insights into the potential of ozone therapy as a therapeutic strategy for reducing parthanatos during CIRI, highlighting its impact on key molecular pathways associated with oxidative stress and calcium regulation. In the scientific research work, the process of neutralization and cleaning of microorganisms harmful to human health found in surface water with an ozonator device based on a pilot electric discharge is considered. A pilot ozonator based on a special high-frequency electric discharge has been developed for disinfection and cleaning of harmful microorganisms found in surface water. In order to conduct practical tests on scientific research work, special water was taken from the Ili floodplain and an examination of the water composition was carried out. According to the results of the examination, various painful microorganisms were found in the composition of the source water that do not meet the maximum permissible concentration (MPC). Effective economic indicators of ozone content (mg/l), contact time (t, minutes) and the like were determined for disinfection and removal of microorganisms from the water composition. In this study, urban wastewater was treated by flocculation, ozone pre-oxidation and denitrification for efficient purification. Polymeric aluminum chloride (PAC) and polymeric aluminum ferric sulfate (PAFS) were added to the wastewater at different levels to remove the COD, turbidity, TP and TN of the wastewater. A better flocculant was selected and its optimum ozone pre-oxidation concentration was determined by changing the ozone concentration and measuring the effluent quality. Denitrification was further enhanced by varying the C/N ratio of the wastewater. The results show that, with the increase in flocculant dosage, the removal rates of COD, turbidity, TP and TN by PAC and PAFS were improved. The purification effect of PAC was better than that of PAFS and the optimum removal of COD, turbidity, TP and TN was obtained at a dosage of 80 mg L−1 by PAC, at 55.9%, 55.6%, 90.0% and 13.3%, respectively. Ozone pre-oxidation enhanced the removal of COD, turbidity and TN by PAC, and the optimal ozone dosage was 1.2 mg L−1, which resulted in 64.8%, 57.1% and 24.8% removal of COD, turbidity and TN, respectively. With the increase in the C/N ratio from 2.0 to 4.0, the NO3−-N concentration of PAC-treated water gradually decreased, but when the C/N ratio was 4.0, the COD concentration increased, so the optimal C/N ratio should be 3.5. We demonstrate a compact, partially end-pumping Innoslab laser based on a micro-cylindrical lens array homogenizer. A dimension of 12 × 0.4 mm2 flat-top pumping line with a Gaussian intensity distribution across the line was simulated by the ray tracing technique. The rate equations considering the asymmetric transverse spatial distributions are theoretically developed. The simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental results. Preliminary data shows that for a pump power of 260 W, a maximum pulse energy of 15.7 mJ was obtained with a pulse width of 8.5 ns at a repetition frequency of 1 kHz. The beam quality M2 factors in the unstable and stable directions were 1.732 and 1.485, respectively. This study aimed to explore how air pollution and green space influence ICE recurrence and whether they might interact with each other. A case-cross design was used in this study, which was carried out in Tianjin, China. A total of 8306 patients with recurrent ICE were collected from 2019 to 2020. The maximum effects of PM2.5, PM10, SO2, NO2, CO were 1.012 (95%CI: 1.004, 1.019), 1.010 (95%CI: 1.004, 1.016), 1.035 (95%CI: 0.982, 1.091), 1.067 (95%CI: 1.043, 1.091) and 1.012 (95%CI: 1.004, 1.021) , respectively, and the risk was higher in males and in the 50–60 age group. In the stratification of greening, it was found that air pollution except O3 had the highest risk of ICE recurrence for those with lower green space. Plasma from electric discharges can be used in the abatement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The application of gas-phase pulsed corona discharge (PCD) in air–water mixtures provides favorable conditions for the oxidation of VOCs at unsurpassed energy efficiency. This research investigates the impact of water sprinkling on PCD performance in the oxidation of m-xylene as a model compound. Experimental research into the plasma treatment of continuous air flow was undertaken using the PCD reactor in dry and water-sprinkled modes. Water sprinkling more than doubled the m-xylene oxidation rate, which can be attributed to abundant OH-radicals produced at the plasma–water interface. Water sprinkling substantially reduced the formation of nitrous oxide, which is considered to be a secondary pollutant in the outlet air. Ozone is considered a by-product helping the subsequent photocatalytic oxidation of potential residues and photocatalyst maintenance. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether a system involving ozonated water and ultrasound causes de-epithelization of the human amniotic membrane (HAM). The experiment protocol was carried out in four stages. Stage I was carried out to determine the duration of the experiment. Stage II comprised the first experiment, involving four groups of samples studied in triplicate: control/natural (IN), processed with ultrasound in a liquid medium (US), processed with ozonated water (O3), and processed with ozonated water combined with ultrasound (US_O3). Stage III was performed to confirm the results, following the same steps present in Stage II. Stage IV involved the use of oxygen to confirm the hypothesis. Histological analysis was carried out to verify whether the effects of O2 were similar to those of O3. The system was activated, and ozonation was carried out for 10 min, as in the previous experiment, reaching a concentration level of 3.0 mg/L. The samples were submerged and positioned in the reservoir and processed separately for 55 min. The biochemical properties were assessed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and the morphology was examined using histology and scanning electron microscopy. The spectra of the samples exhibited similarities; however, subtle changes were highlighted, such as smooth band shifts and intensity changes. The morphology indicated that ultrasound achieved more efficient HAM de-epithelialization compared to ultrasound combined with ozonated water and ozonated water alone. One plausible hypothesis for this observation is that cavitation represents the primary mechanism responsible for de-epithelialization. When ultrasound is combined with ozone, the bubbles generated by ozone gas reduce the cavitation effect. In order to solve the problem of infestation of fresh fruit after making them into candied fruit and the quality degradation caused by the infestation, a combined ozone–microwave sterilization method was used to treat four candied fruit molds. Response surface optimization analysis showed that when the ozone infusion time was at 10 min (2.642 kg/mL) and with 560 W microwave power for 20 s, the inhibition rates of the four candied fruit molds Cladosporium velox, Penicillium citreonigrum, Penicillium sclerotiorum, and Alternaria tenuissima were 100%, 94.28%, 100%, and 100%, respectively. Moreover, according to the characterization of morphology, DNA electrophoretic profiles, and nucleic acid/protein leakage test, the integrity of the mold cell membrane was destroyed after the combined ozone–microwave treatment because of the thermal and nonthermal effects of microwave and the strongly oxidizing properties of ozone. The molds were dead because of the efflux of intracellular nucleic acid and protein and the degradation of DNA, which influenced normal cellular metabolism. The objective of this work is to evaluate the effects of ozone combined with ultrasound (ozone+US), pasteurization (PT), and high-temperature short-time sterilization (HTST) on antimicrobial capacity, antioxidant activity, carotenoid distribution and in vitro bioaccessibility of carotenoids in high-sugar concentrated orange juice. The enhancement of cellular membrane permeability and the leakage of cytoplasmic contents in Penicillium citrinum and Saccharomyces cerevisiae induced by ozone+US treatment were confirmed by fluorescence and FTIR spectrum. Ozone+US treatment exhibited higher antimicrobial activity than PT, and ozone+US treatment could decrease 4.22 ± 0.08 log CFU/mL of P. citrinum and 4.49 ± 0.10 log CFU/mL of S. cerevisiae. Additionally, ozone+US treated samples showed significantly lower peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase residual activity, higher bioactive compounds, and antioxidant capacity of orange juice as compared to thermal treatment. Among these treatments, ozone+US-treated orange juice showed the highest retention rates of carotenoid content and carotenoid bioavailability of 3.76 ± 0.05 mg/L and 24.53 ± 1.37%, respectively. Interestingly, particle size reduction and uniform distribution of carotenoids in ozone+US-treated samples enhanced the bioaccessibility of carotenoids. Compared with those thermal treatments, ozone+US treatment would be an alternative to improve microbial safety and decrease the degradation of antioxidant components in high-sugar concentrated orange juice. In order to study the characteristics of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in Yantai city, VOCs chemical composition, concentration characteristics, ozone generation potential (OFP) and pollutant sources were analyzed based on VOCs monitoring data in Yantai in 2020 and 2022. Results indicated that the volume concentration of VOCs decreased by 12.4% from 2020 to 2022, which was attributed to the significant decline in the concentration of oxygen-containing volatile organic compounds (OVOCs) (decreased by --33.1%) with a stable concentration of ozone precursors (PAMS). Species concentration analysis showed that alkanes and aldehydes ranked first in the volume concentration of PAMS and OVOCs. The three components with the highest volume concentration were formaldehyde, ethane and propane, respectively, and the three components with the highest mass concentration were w-hexane, formaldehyde and propane, respectively. Time distribution characteristics displayed that the volume concentration of PAMS and OVOCs fluctuated greatly, and high concentrations were prone to appear in July and August. Total OFP value of Yantai city also showed a downward trend, decreasing by 14.0% compared with 2020, among which the OFP value of various types of VOCs was as follows % aldehydes > alkenes> alkanes > aromatics > ketones > alkynes, and the top three contribution values accounted for 88.2%. According to the calculated value of OFP, formaldehyde and acetaldehyde were always the top two contributors to the generation of O3 in the ambient are in Yantai city, and the ozone prevention and control in Yantai city should focus on the following five components % formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, 2-methyl-1, 3- butadiene, ethylene and propylene. Source analysis results showed that the VOCs in Yantai city came from aging are mass transport, in which formaldehyde and acetaldehyde were mainly from motor vehicle exhaust and man-made source. Aromatic hydrocarbons were mainly derived from vehicle exhaust and coal/biomass interaction in which motor vehicles had a more significant impact. In conclusion, this study provides a scientific basis for the formulation of VOCs emission and O3 pollution prevention and control measure. It is suggested that Yantai city should conduct accurate control of anthropogenic emissions (especially motor vehicles) and coal/biomass by combusting VOCs concentration characteristics, species characteristics, time distribution characteristics and chemical reactivity analytics, so as to improve the ambient are quality of Yantai city. Ozone (O3) pollution has a profound impact on human health, vegetation development, and the ecological environment, making it a critical focus of global academic research. In recent years, O3 pollution in China has been on a steady rise, with ozone emerging as the sole conventional pollutant to consistently increase in concentration without any decline. This study conducted a quantitative analysis of O3 concentrations across 367 Chinese cities in 2019, examining spatial autocorrelation and local clustering of O3 levels, and investigated the diverse relationships between human activity factors and O3 concentration. The seasonal fluctuation of O3 exhibited the "M-type" pattern, with peak concentrations in winter and the lowest levels in summer. The center of O3 pollution migrated southeastward, with the area of highest concentration progressively shifting south along the eastern coast. Moreover, O3 concentration showed a strong positive correlation with population density, road freight volume, and industrial emissions, suggesting that human activities, vehicle emissions, and industrial operations are significant contributors to O3 production. The results provide comprehensive information on the characteristics, causes, and occurrence mechanism of O3 in Chinese cities that can be utilized by global government departments to formulate strategies to prevent and control O3 pollution. The degradation of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CFX), an extensively utilized antibiotic for bacterial infections, has been studied through the application of advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) including hydrodynamic cavitation (HC), ozonation (O3), the Fenton reaction, chemical oxidation, and hybrid AOPs such as HC/O3 and Fenton/O3. Among these, the hybrid combination of HC/O3 demonstrated the highest CFX degradation of 99.82 % within 180 min having an initial concentration of 1000 ppm. The optimization of the HC/O3 process was conducted by varying parameters including initial concentration, pH, ozone (O3) gas flowrate, and temperature. Many bodies of water around the world are eutrophic and present cyanobacterial blooms. Oxidation techniques with ozone and UV radiation have been shown to be effective in laboratory conditions with controlled cultures, but studies with eutrophicated natural waters (non-laboratory conditions) are still lacking. Therefore, the main objective of the present work was to develop a mathematical model to determine the doses of different oxidizing agents [ozone (O3), ultraviolet (UV) radiation at 254 nm and ozone-based advanced oxidation] to eliminate three photosynthetic organisms [Microcystis aeruginosa (MC), Anabaena (ANA) and Actinastrum] from a eutrophicated artificial lagoon. To this end, 24 physicochemical and biological water quality parameters were measured. Different equations were proposed to calculate the demand of the oxidizing agents to reduce the concentration of organisms to low risk levels, even in the presence of other pollutants. O3 presented the best results by eliminating 100 and 88% of MC and ANA at a dose of 15 mg O3/L. From the principal component analysis, it is observed that the main factor related to the reduction of turbidity was the destruction of the cells. Furthermore, this statistical analysis shows that the application of these oxidants produces an oxidation-release cycle of organic components because of cell lysis. This article presents for the first time a mathematical model that allows knowing the appropriate doses of different oxidants to eliminate this type of organisms in eutrophic waters, i.e., even in the presence of other types of ozone-consuming pollutants. Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of ozone therapy in guided bone regeneration (GBR) for critical size calvarial defects in rats. Materials and methods: 96 male Wistar rats were divided into four groups (n = 6 each). An 8 mm critical defect was created in the calvaria of each rat. The groups were: BIO (porcine collagen membrane, BioGide®), BIO + OZ (membrane with systemic ozone therapy every 2 days), COA + OZ (blood clot with ozone therapy), and COA (blood clot only). Evaluations at 7, 15, 30, and 60 days included histological, histomorphometric, inflammatory profile, Micro-CT, and immunohistochemical analyses. Statistical analysis involved two-factor ANOVA with Tukey’s post-hoc test for general data, and one-factor ANOVA with Holm-Sidak post-hoc test for Micro-CT data. Results: The BIO + OZ group demonstrated superior bone regeneration with well-organized, mature bone tissue and significant bone formation at 30 and 60 days. The COA + OZ group showed early angiogenesis and reduced inflammation, resulting in complete defect closure by 30 days. The BIO group had good regeneration, but less mature tissue compared to BIO + OZ. The COA group exhibited limited bone formation and higher porosity. Conclusion: Ozone therapy positively influences bone regeneration by enhancing cell proliferation and the healing response. The rate of rocket launches is accelerating, driven by the rapid global development of the space industry. Rocket launches emit gases and particulates into the stratosphere, where they impact the ozone layer via radiative and chemical processes. We create a three‐dimensional per‐vehicle inventory of stratospheric emissions, accounting for flight profiles and all major fuel types in active use (solid, kerosene, cryogenic and hypergolic). In 2019, stratospheric (15–50 km) rocket launch emissions were 5.82 Gg CO2 ${\mathrm{C}\mathrm{O}}_{2}$, 6.38 Gg H2 ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$O, 0.28 Gg black carbon, 0.22 Gg nitrogen oxides, 0.50 Gg reactive chlorine and 0.91 Gg particulate alumina. The geographic locations of launch sites are preserved in the inventory, which covers all active launch sites in 2019. We also report the emissions data from contemporary vehicles that were not launched in 2019, so that users have freedom to construct their own launch activity scenarios. A subset of the inventory—stratospheric emissions for successful launches in 2019—is freely available and formatted for direct use in global chemistry‐climate or Earth system models. Plain Language Summary: Many governments and companies have expressed bold ambitions to grow their presence in space. However, rocket launches throw out a stream of air pollutants from their burnt fuel as they pass through the stratosphere, which is where the protective ozone layer resides. Currently, launch operators do not have to measure the impacts of their activities on the ozone layer. We gather together all the publicly available information on rocket launches in 2019, from 18 active spaceports worldwide, and make some careful assumptions to convert each rocket's fuel to its burnt fuel products left in the atmosphere. We encourage modeling groups to use our inventory for studies on how rocket launches may impact the ozone layer. Summary: Aflatoxins are toxic secondary metabolites produced by Aspergillus spp., found in staple food commodities. Aflatoxins are carcinogenic, teratogenic, and mutagenic and pose a serious threat to the health of humans. The identification and quantification of aflatoxins in foods is a major challenge to guarantee food safety. Therefore, developing feasible, sensitive, and robust methods for decontamination is paramount, with short processing time and negligible impact on quality. This review evaluates recent novel technologies for aflatoxins decontamination by physical methods (microwave heating, Gama and electron beam irradiation, pulse light and ultraviolet), chemical methods (ozone, natural plant extracts, and organic acids), and biological methods (atoxigenic Aspergillus strains, Trichoderma spp., and bacteria and yeast). The study highlights on the cutting‐edge technologies of smart packaging and artificial intelligence (AI). To achieve more efficiency and adaptability to different food matrices in aflatoxins decontamination, the study suggests integrating multiple strategies.
