Purpose: The aim of research was to present the consideration of an economic institutional area, which has direct reference to the tasks and functions of Polish agribusiness institutions. Design/methodology/approach: Owing to a large number of various entities which entail the institutional environment of agribusiness, visual methods and case study have been used for the analysis of the subject matter. This enabled to refer to the management of agricultural-related organisations like consultation and governmental agencies, as well as transnational organisations. Findings: The original task-based classification of the agricultural-related institutions has been done with the indication of their functions including the field of management and coordination. Practical implications: The study indicates the purposefulness of the coordination of local government and farmers' trustees' works in order to solve conflicts efficiently, to avoid longterm protests. Originality/value: The study encompasses the complexity of the agribusiness environment in an original way, which facilitates cognition and understanding of its nature. Introduction/background: The paper has considerable cognitive value for the increase of knowledge in one of the areas of structural transformations in agriculture and rural regions, namely in tendencies regarding the varying number of farms and the size of utilised agricultural areas. Aim of the paper: The purpose of this paper is a synthetic evaluation of selected aspects of structural transformations observed in agriculture in Świętokrzyskie Province in the period 2005-2018. Materials and methods: The study was conducted in a number of poviats, for which original data were presented as regards agriculture and farming in Świętokrzyskie Province, in the dynamic perspective, for the period 2005-2018. The actual data were obtained from the the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture in Poland. The paper uses the basic measurements applicable in statistical analysis, dynamic analysis and cause-and-effect analysis. Results and conclusions: Based on the conducted study, it was found that the area of farms was reduced by 2.53% in 2005-2018 in Świętokrzyskie Province; the largest reduction was observed in the following poviats: Skarżysko (15.93%) and Kielce (13.3%); However, much more serious changes were noted in the number of farms. These changes were observed in all poviats, and the reduction in the number of farms was 56.1% across the whole region. In 2005-2018, there was a marked increase in the average size of an individual farm, from 2.8 ha to 6.1 ha, which may be seen as a major change as compared to previous tendencies in the agrarian structure of farms in Poland. Despite its relatively small area European territory has many mountain ranges located in most of the countries. Land development in separate mountain ranges has a tendency to diversify. Not only is this phenomenon evident in regions with a great increase in agricultural, service sector, tourist and industrial functions, but also in regions which are agriculturally worthless and less economically valuable. Even though mountain areas in Europe are inhabited by more than 15% of population, the diversity of both particular countries and mountain ranges is large. Mountain areas, particularly in EU--15 countries, Switzerland and Norway, are as a rule poorly populated, while in Poland, Slovenia and Hungary these tendencies are disparate. Frequent phenomena facing mountain areas in Europe are an ageing of the local population and the rural depopulation. Mountains are of great significance for both the population and the diversity of continent's fauna and flora, besides, the natural resources of mountains are described as "the undervalued ecological backbone of Europe". The greatest value of mountains is attributed to their cultural diversity because mountainous areas are inhabited by numerous ethnic minorities differentiated by their culture, language, dialects and tradition. It should be noted that functions of mountains and their contribution to both the development and the living conditions of local population can be diversely classified. These functions, which include environmental, economical and socio- cultural ones, have been known for ages. They can also be divided into the green -- connected with nature, the white -- connected with health care, the blue -- concerned with water and the yellow -- concerned with life-span and economic development. Sustainability of strong demography units is the key precondition for the maintenance of natural and cultural richness, as well as for the economic significance of European mountains. As a consequence of increasing air pollution, the European Commission has decided to introduce special directives laying down the measures to achieve climate and energy neutrality. Renewable energy (RE) sources play an important role in the pursuit of these goals, which has been taken into account in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The aim of this article is to describe patterns and trends in the achievements of the energy policy of European Union (EU) countries in the field of renewable energy in sustainable development. The identification of leaders in this field gives the possibility to analyse actions taken by the governments of these countries and the possible implementation of the introduced solutions on the ground of individual Member States at the regional and national levels. At the beginning Main goal of energy policy on the field of renewable energy sources (RES) is to increase production from environmentally friendly sources that is why trends were determined in order to assess the rate of achievement of the national target for changes the share of energy from renewable sources in total gross energy consumption. Groups of similar countries were then identified on the basis of three indicators corresponding to the targets set in the climate and energy package. In the group of analysed countries, 14 have achieved the 2020 targets and 4 have exceeded the 2030 targets. The main renewable energy sources (RES) are biofuels, wind, and hydropower. In the assessment of the achievement of energy policy targets, the best situation was observed in the case of Denmark, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. These countries have significantly increased the share of renewable energy in total energy consumption. Compared to other EU countries, they have reduced the economy's energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions the most. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
