Contamination of agricultural soil by heavy metals poses a significant threat to soil quality and crop yields. Using plants as a natural remediation approach attracts researchers' attention around the world. A 16-month pot experiment was conducted using Conocarpus erectus in a randomized complete block design. The growth, enzymatic activity, electrolyte leakage, and remediation potential were estimated under Cd nitrate]40 low (L), 60 medium (M), 80 high (H) mg/kg soil [and Pb nitrate]400 (L), 700 (M), 1,000 (H) mg/kg soil [applied individually and in combination. Conocarpus erectus demonstrated a good tolerance (over 70%) against lower and medium cadmium (Cd) and lead (Pb) levels and a medium resistance against high Cd and Pb levels, with a survival rate of 100% under all the treatments used. The most negative treatment on the growth traits and tolerance of C. erectus was (H) Cd and (H) Pb, which reduced plant height; chlorophyll index; dry weights of the leaves, stems, and roots; root length; and tolerance index of biomass and roots by 25.87%, 48.97%, 50.56%, 47.25%, 58.67%, 50.18%, 51.00%, and 50% in comparison to the respective control, consecutively. Relative to the control, all Cd and Pb applications increased polyphenol oxidase (PPO), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) activities, and the increment was parallel up to medium Cd and Pb levels and then decreased with their high levels but still higher than the control. Electrolyte leakage (EL) was upheaved by raising the levels of Cd and Pb, and it reached the maximum (52.79%) at the (H) Cd (H) Pb treatment. Cd and Pb in the leaves, stems, and roots were boosted by raising their levels in the treatments. Conocarpus erectus is considered a phytoextractor for the Cd levels used because the bioconcentration factor of the stem (BCFs) and the translocation factor (TF) of Cd were >1, and it is a suitable plant for Pb phytoextraction at (L) Pb, (M) Pb, and (M) Cd (M) Pb levels because its Pb BCFs and bioconcentration factor of the root (BCFr) were <1 and its Pb TF was >1. Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a progressive musculoskeletal disease that leads to physical impairment and disability. Several nonoperative therapeutic options have been proposed to reduce symptoms, improve physical function, and prevent disability. One of these therapeutic options is dextrose prolotherapy (DPT). The current study aimed to investigate the efficacy of DPT in the treatment of symptomatic KOA and to evaluate its potential proliferative role as assessed by musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Results: Seventeen knees (21.25%) dropped out, leaving 63 knees in the final analysis (57 females and 6 males, aged 41–74 years) with KOA. At 24-week follow-up, the visual analogue scale and overall Western Ontario and McMaster Universities scores showed significant improvement (P < 0.001). Moreover, a highly significant increase in cartilage thickness with a decrease in effusion grade and meniscal extrusion was observed by MSUS (P < 0.001). By MRI, there was a statistically significant decrease in effusion grade (P = 0.013) and meniscal extrusion (P = 0.005) and a highly significant increase in cartilage thickness (P < 0.001). Logistic analysis showed that lower patients' body mass index (BMI) at baseline was a significant predictor for clinical improvement following DPT. Conclusion: DPT might be considered a relatively safe minimally invasive intervention for the treatment of KOA with high adherence and satisfaction. It may lead to significant clinical and structural improvement in patients with KOA. Furthermore, lower BMI is a predicting factor for better clinical response to DPT. Aim: Calcium hydroxide (CH) has been considered as a direct pulp capping materials (DPC) for the last decades despite having some limitations. Phosphorylate pullulan (PPL) incorporated with CH (CHPPL) is a novel biomaterial that was introduced as a promising DPC material. Thus, the aim of the study was to evaluate the inflammatory response and mineralized tissue formation (MTF) ability of PPL‐based CH formulations on rat molars after DPC. Methodology: This study consisted of six groups: CH with 1% PPL (CHPPL‐1); 3% PPL (CHPPL‐3); 5% PPL (CHPPL‐5); Dycal and NEX MTA Cement (N‐MTA) as the positive control, and no capping materials (NC). One hundred twenty maxillary first molar cavities were prepared on Wistar rats. After capping, all the cavities were restored with 4‐META/MMA‐TBB resin and pulpal responses were evaluated at days 1, 7, and 28. Kruskal–Wallis followed by Mann–Whitney U‐test was performed with a significance level of 0.05. Immunohistochemical expression of IL‐6, Nestin, and DMP‐1 was observed. Results: At day 1, CHPPL‐1, N‐MTA, and Dycal exhibited no to mild inflammation, whilst CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC showed mild to moderate inflammation, and the results were significantly different (p <.05). At day 7, mild to moderate inflammation was observed in CHPPL‐1, N‐MTA, and Dycal, whereas CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC exhibited moderate to severe inflammation. Significant differences were observed between CHPPL‐1 and N‐MTA with NC (p <.05), CHPPL‐1 and CHPPL‐3 with CHPPL‐5 and Dycal (p <.05), and CHPPL‐3 with N‐MTA (p <.05). A thin layer of mineralized tissue formation (MTF) was observed in all groups. At day 28, CHPPL‐1, Dycal, and N‐MTA showed no to mild inflammation, whilst CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC exhibited mild to severe inflammation, and statistically significant difference was detected (p <.05). CHPPL‐1, Dycal, and N‐MTA exhibited continuous MTF, whilst CHPPL‐3, CHPPL‐5, and NC had thicker and interrupted MTF. Significant differences were observed between CHPPL‐1, CHPPL‐3, and N‐MTA with NC group (p <.05). Variable expressions of IL‐6, Nestin, and DMP‐1 indicated differences in the materials' impact on odontoblast‐like cell formation and tissue mineralization. MXene is a rapidly emerging group of two-dimensional (2D) multifunctional nanomaterials, drawing huge attention from researchers of a broad scientific field. Reporting the synthesis of MXene was the following breakthrough in 2D materials following the discovery of graphene. MXene is considered the most recent developments of materials, including transition metal carbonitrides, nitrides, and carbides synthesized by etching or mechanical-based exfoliation of selective MAX phases. MXene has a plethora of prodigious properties such as unique interlayer spacing, high ion and electron transport, large surface area, excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, exceptional volumetric capacitance, thermal shock, and oxidation resistance, easily machinable and inherently hydrophilic, and biocompatibility. Owing to the abundance of tailorable surface function groups, these properties can be further enhanced by surface functionalization with covalent and non-covalent modifications via numerous surface functionalization methods. Therefore, MXene finds their way to a plethora of applications in numerous fields including catalysis, membrane separation, energy storage, sensing, and biomedicine. Here, the focus is on reviewing the structure, synthesis techniques, and functionalization methods of MXene. Furthermore, MXene-based detection platforms in different sensing applications are survived. Great attention is given to reviewing the applications of MXene in the detection of biomolecules, pathogenic bacteria and viruses, cancer biomarkers food contaminants and mycotoxins, and hazardous pollutants. Lastly, the future perspective of MXene-based biosensors as a next-generation diagnostics tool is discussed. Crucial visions are introduced for materials science and sensing communities to better route while investigating the potential of MXene for creating innovative detection mechanisms. Spam detection is a critical cybersecurity and information management task with significant implications for security decision-making processes. Traditional machine learning algorithms such as Logistic Regression (LR), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), Decision Trees (DT), and Support Vector Machines (SVM) have been employed to mitigate this challenge. However, these algorithms often suffer from the "black box" dilemma, a lack of transparency that hinders their applicability in security contexts where understanding the reasoning behind classifications is essential for effective risk assessment and mitigation strategies. To address this limitation, the current paper leverages Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) principles to introduce a novel, more transparent approach to spam detection. This paper presents a novel approach to spam detection using a Random Forest (RF) Classifier model enhanced by a meticulously designed methodology. The methodology incorporates data balancing through Hybrid Random Sampling, feature selection using the Gini Index, and a two-layer model explainability via Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME) and Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) techniques. The model achieved an impressive accuracy rate of 94.8% and high precision and recall scores, outperforming traditional methods such as LR, KNN, DT, and SVM across all key performance metrics. The results affirm the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, offering a robust and interpretable model for spam detection. This report presents the detection, characterisation, instrumentation and filling of complex canal configurations in the mesiobuccal (MB) root of maxillary first molars. Three patients were referred for root canal treatment in first maxillary molars. Medical history, age, sex and clinical findings were recorded. Intraoral periapical radiographs and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) were used for diagnosis and pre‐operative assessment. Using Ahmed et al. (2017) classification system, codes 3MaxM MB3‐5‐4‐2 DB1‐2‐1 P1 (case 1), 3MaxM MB2‐5‐3‐2 DB1 P1 (case 2) and 3MaxM MB1‐4‐2‐1‐2 DB1 P1 (case 3) were identified. Using the dental operating microscope, CBCT (if indicated) and troughing up to 3 mm allowed identification of more than three canals in the MB root of maxillary first molars. Lornoxicam (LN) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug of the oxicam class. As with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, it has the same side effects of this group of drugs if they are taken orally such as gastrointestinal, renal and hepatic disorders. Besides, it binds extensively to plasma albumin (99%), has a relatively short plasma half-life (3 to 5 hrs) and undergoes first pass hepatic metabolism and gastrointestinal degradation upon oral administration. These drawbacks render LN a good candidate for local delivery via sustained release dosage forms. Therefore, LN mucoadhesive buccal films were prepared by the solvent casting method using different polymers, that is sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (Na CMC), hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose (HPMC), hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC), gelatin, polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) K-30. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and infrared spectroscopy (IR) studies indicated the absence of any physical or chemical interaction of the drug with any of the used polymers. The prepared films were evaluated for their weight uniformity, thickness uniformity, swelling index, surface pH, folding endurance, in vitro drug release as well as mucoadhesion force. On the basis of the results obtained, it was deduced that the best formula of LN mucoadhesive buccal films was that containing a mixture of Na CMC, HPC and PVP; since it exhibited a high bioadhesive strength, a high percentage of drug release, a good folding endurance and a high swelling index. It can be finally concluded that mucoadhesive buccal films can be one of the alternatives available for administration of LN in order to minimize its side effects and avoid the disadvantages of parenteral and oral routes of administration. Background/Aims: Nurses will likely encounter a wide variety of situations that can be considered polarities. This study aimed to examine the impact of a polarity management training programme on nurse managers' skills and knowledge of polarity management, and their creative behaviours and intrinsic motivation. Methods: A quasi-experimental study using an interrupted time series design with one-group pre and post test was performed. A total of 60 nurse managers participated. Polarity tools (knowledge and skills) and self-report questionnaires of creative behaviour and motivation were applied in collecting data throughout the training programme. Results: Respondents' knowledge and skills of polarity management were better following the training programme, with higher levels of creativity and motivation throughout the post and follow-up programme. This was evidenced by correlation and linear regression tests between nurse managers' knowledge and skills and their creativity and motivation. Conclusions: This programme can benefit not only nurse managers, but also nursing staff, patients and organisations. This may ultimately improve outcomes for patients, staff and organisations. Background: Risk stratification assessment of patients with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE ACS) plays an important role in optimal management and defines the patient's prognosis. This study aimed to evaluate the ability of CHA2DS2-VASc-HSF score (comprising of the components of the CHA2DS2-VASc score with a male instead of female sex category, hyperlipidemia, smoking, and family history of coronary artery disease respectively) to predict the severity and complexity of CAD and its efficacy in stratification for major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with NSTE ACS without known atrial fibrillation. Methods: This study included 200 patients (males 72.5%, mean age 55.8 ± 10.1 years) who were admitted with NSTE ACS. CHA2DS2-VASC-HSF score was calculated on admission. Patients were classified into three groups according to their CHA2DS2-VASC-HSF score: low score group (< 2; 29 patients), intermediate score group (2–4; 83 patients), and high score group (≥ 5; 88 patients). Coronary angiography was conducted and the Syntax score (SS) was calculated. Clinical follow-up at 6 months of admission for the development of MACE was recorded. Results: SS was significantly high in the high CHA2DS2-VASc-HSF score group compared with low and intermediate score groups. CHA2DS2-VASc-HSF score had a significant positive strong correlation with syntax score (r = 0.64, P < 0.001). Smoking, vascular disease, hyperlipidemia, and CHA2DS2-VASc-HSF score were independent predictors of high SS. For the prediction of severe and complex CAD, CHA2DS2-VASc-HSF score had a good predictive power at a cut-off value ≥ 5 with a sensitivity of 86% and specificity of 65%. Hypertension, vascular disease, high SS, and CHA2DS2-VASc-HSF score were independent predictors of MACE. CHA2DS2-VASC-HSF score ≥ 4 was identified as an effective cut-off point for the development of MACE with 94% sensitivity and 70% specificity. Conclusions: CHA2DS2-VASC-HSF score is proposed to be a simple bedside score that could be used for the prediction of the severity and complexity of CAD as well as a risk stratification tool for the development of MACE in NSTE ACS patients. Traumatic diaphragmatic hernia is a sign of severe thoracoabdominal trauma that is often difficult to detect because of nonspecific presenting symptoms, delayed presentation, and distracting injuries. Diagnosis depends on imaging and a high degree of suspicion in patients who present with respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms after trauma, and prompt surgical repair is required. This case reviews a patient who presented to the emergency department with burning epigastric pain radiating to the left chest and hematemesis ~1 month after sustaining a blunt abdominal injury. Imaging studies revealed a substantial portion of the gastric body in the left hemithorax. Robot-assisted reduction of the stomach was performed followed by repair with tension-free primary closure without mesh reinforcement and gastropexy. The patient was monitored for return of bowel function and discharged upon recovery. This case report highlights the diagnostic challenges of traumatic diaphragmatic hernia and the benefit of robot-assisted repair. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to evaluate the number of roots and root canal morphology types of maxillary premolars in relation to a patient's gender and age in an Iraqi population using two classification systems. Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans of 1116 maxillary premolars from 385 patients were evaluated for the number of roots and root canal morphology types according to Vertucci's classification and Ahmed et al. classification systems. Differences in the number of roots and root canal morphology types with regard to tooth type, patients' gender and age groups were evaluated and the degree of bilateral symmetry was determined. Chi-squared test was used for statistical analysis. About 51.1% of the 1st premolars were double rooted. The majority (87.9%) of the 2nd premolars were single rooted. The three-rooted form presented in only 1.2% and 0.7% of the 1st and 2nd premolars, respectively. Vertucci Type IV (Ahmed et al. code 2MaxP B1P1) and Vertucci Type I (Ahmed et al. code 1MaxP1) were the most common canal morphology types in the 1st and 2nd premolars, respectively. Females showed a lower number of roots and a higher prevalence of Vertucci Type I configuration (P < 0.05). Younger age groups showed a higher prevalence of Vertucci Type I configuration (P < 0.05). Bilateral symmetry was seen in more than half of the maxillary premolars. There is a considerable variation in the number of roots and root canal configurations of maxillary premolars in the studied Iraqi population, with a significant difference by gender and age groups. This article presents an evaluation of BukaGini, a stability-aware Gini index feature selection algorithm designed to enhance model performance in machine learning applications. Specifically, the study focuses on assessing BukaGini's effectiveness within the domain of intrusion detection systems (IDS). Recognizing the need for improved feature interaction analysis methodologies in IDS, this research aims to investigate the performance of BukaGini in this context. BukaGini's performance is evaluated across four diverse datasets commonly used in IDS research: NSLKDD (22,544 samples), WUSTL EHMS (16,318 samples), WSN-DS (374,661 samples), and UNSWNB15 (175,341 samples), amounting to a total of 588,864 data samples. The evaluation encompasses key metrics such as stability score, accuracy, F1-score, recall, precision, and ROC AUC. Results indicate significant advancements in IDS performance, with BukaGini achieving remarkable accuracy rates of up to 99% and stability scores consistently surpassing 99% across all datasets. Additionally, BukaGini demonstrates an average reduction in dimensionality of 25%, selecting 10 features for each dataset using the Gini index. Through rigorous comparative analysis with existing methodologies, BukaGini emerges as a promising solution for feature interaction analysis within cybersecurity applications, particularly in the context of IDS. These findings highlight the potential of BukaGini to contribute to robust model performance and propel intrusion detection capabilities to new heights in real-world scenarios. Background: It is unknown whether the existence of severe bystander damage will affect left ventricular (LV) healing following primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). The aim of the present analysis was to follow LV recovery using 2D speckle tracking echocardiography (2-D STE) in cases with single versus multiple vessel disease with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) who underwent PPCI and to assess major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) within 3 months. Patients and methods: This work was conducted at Assiut University Heart Hospital. Of 1026 screened subjects with AMI needing PPCI and assessed for eligibility, only 89 cases fulfilled the inclusion criteria. They were classified into Group A: single vessel and Group B: multiple vessel (≥ 2 vessels) disease. Their data were obtained on admittance and after 90 days. Results: In group A compared to group B, there was a statistically preferable value at baseline in the global longitudinal strain- Apical 2 chamber (GLS-A2C) (-12.05 ± 3.57 vs. -10.38 ± 3.92, P = 0.039). At follow-up, the improvement was in all 2-D STE variables, including GLS-long axis (GLS-LAX) (-13.09 ± 3.84 vs.-10.75 ± 3.96, P = 0.006), GLS- apical 4 chamber (GLS-A4C) (-13.23 ± 3.51 vs.-10.62 ± 4.08, P = 0.002), GLS-A2C (-13.85 ± 3.41 vs-10.93 ± 3.97, P < 0.001) and GLS- average (GLS-AVG, P = 0.001). There was a considerable negative correlation between the recovery of LV performance and the existence of multi-vessel lesions (P = 0.009). There was no variance between the groups regarding MACEs. Conclusions: Patients with single vessel lesions who underwent PPCI to the culprit lesion had better recovery of LV function than those with multi-vessel (≥ 2 vessels) lesions who underwent PPCI to the culprit lesion only. Introduction: Root canal treatment procedures require a thorough understanding of root and canal anatomy. The purpose of this systematic review was to examine the morphological differences of teeth root and their canals assessed using cone-beam computed and micro-computed tomography in Saudi Arabian population. Methodology: An electronic search was conducted in PubMed / Medline, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science databases until January 2023 to retrieve related studies. "Root canal morphology," "Saudi Arabia," "Micro-CT," and "cone-beam computed tomography" were used as keywords. A modified version of previously published risk of bias assessment tool was used to determine the quality assessment of included studies. Results: The literature search revealed 47 studies that matched the criteria for inclusion, out of which 44 studies used cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and three were micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) studies. According to the modified version of risk of bias assessment tool, the studies were categorized as low, moderate, and high risk of bias. A total of 47,612 samples were included which comprised of either maxillary teeth (5,412), or mandibular teeth (20,572), and mixed teeth (21,327). 265 samples were used in micro-CT studies while 47,347 teeth samples were used in CBCT studies. Among the CBCT studies, except for three, all the studies were retrospective studies. Frequently used imaging machine and software were 3D Accuitomo 170 and Morita's i-Dixel 3D imaging software respectively. Minimum and maximum voxel sizes were 75 and 300 μm, Vertucci's classification was mostly used to classify the root canal morphology of the teeth. The included micro-CT studies were in-vitro studies where SkyScan 1172 X-ray scanner was the imaging machine with pixel size ranging between 13.4 and 27.4 μm. Vertucci, Ahmed et al. and Pomeranz et al. classifications were applied to classify the root canal morphology. Conclusion: This systematic review revealed wide variations in root and canal morphology of Saudi population using high resolution imaging techniques. Clinicians should be aware of the common and unusual root and canal anatomy before commencing root canal treatment. Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a major hepatic disorder occurring in non-alcohol-drinking individuals. Salvianic acid A or Danshensu (DSS, 3-(3, 4-dihydroxyphenyl)-(2R)-lactic acid), derived from the root of Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza), has demonstrated heart and liver protective properties. In this work, we investigated the antioxidant activity and hepatoprotective activity of Danshensu alone and in combination with different agents, such as probiotic bacteria (Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus acidophilus), against several assays. The inhibition mechanism of the methylation gene biomarkers, such as DNMT-1, MS, STAT-3, and TET-1, against DSS was evaluated by molecular docking and RT-PCR techniques. The physicochemical and pharmacokinetic ADMET properties of DSS were determined by SwissADME and pkCSM. The results indicated that all lipid blood test profiles, including cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), were reduced after the oral administration of Danshensu combined with probiotics (L. casei and L. acidophilus) that demonstrated good, efficient free radical scavenging activity, measured using anti-oxidant assays. ADMET and drug-likeness properties certify that the DSS could be utilized as a feasible drug since DSS showed satisfactory physicochemical and pharmacokinetic ADMET properties. Aim: The aim of the study was to examine the effect of a caring leadership intervention program for first‐line nurse managers (FLNM) on their caring knowledge and managerial actions as well as nurses' perceived FLNM caring behaviours and nurse outcomes. Design: A quasi‐experimental study design was implemented on two groups; study and control, including 30 FLNM and 150 nurses for each. Methods: Self‐report questionnaires about FLNMs' knowledge of caring behaviours and their managerial actions, nurses perceived line nurse managers' caring behaviours and nurses' outcomes (job satisfaction and work engagement) were utilized to collect study data from 1 July 2022 to 30 December 2022. Results: A statistically significant difference and changes were revealed between the study and control groups in FLNMs' caring knowledge and their managerial actions, and nurses' perceived FLNMs' caring behaviours, nurses' job satisfaction and nurses' work engagement during post‐test in comparison to pre‐test. Higher total mean scores of post‐test in the study group were recorded compared to those of control group regarding FLNMs' caring knowledge and their managerial actions as well as nurses 'perceived FLNMs' caring behaviour, job satisfaction and work engagement. Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of intraoral drainage of isolated submandibular space abscess as a minimally invasive surgical technique compared to the standard trans-cervical approach. Patients and Methods: This prospective study included 40 subjects with isolated submandibular space abscesses. They were randomly divided into 2 equal groups: trans-cervical surgical drainage (group A) and intra-oral surgical drainage (group B). The included data were demographics, repeated surgery requirement, postsurgical hospitalization duration, formation of scar, and complications. Results: Intraoral drainage (Group B) reduced the mean operative time by 15.25 min (P < 0.001) compared with trans-cervical incision (Group A). No considerable difference was found between the 2 groups in regarding hospitalization postoperatively. No weakness in marginal mandibular nerve was found in both groups. Three patients only have a cervical scar in a group (B) who required external drainage due to recollection. No recurrence was detected in a group (A). Conclusion: The current study demonstrated that isolated submandibular abscesses can be successfully managed with an intraoral drainage modality, and it is a better option than the trans-cervical approach regarding better cosmetic outcome and shorter operative time. With the ever-increasing understanding of tooth anatomy, there is a renewed focus on the pulp chamber as an important component of the root canal system. For example, the pulp chamber is of critical relevance during diagnostic procedures such as pulp sensibility tests, deep caries removal, vital pulp treatments, access cavity preparation, tooth whitening, tooth restoration as well as methods for examining the floor of the pulp chamber to aid the detection of root canal orifices or the presence of perforations and cracks. The more recent concept of minimal invasive endodontics has also created a need to understand better the anatomy of the pulp chamber. The purpose of this article is to discuss the research methods used to study pulp chamber anatomy and the significance of the pulp chamber in endodontic research and clinical practice. Background: Since 2014, dengue epidemics have occurred almost annually in Nouakchott, the capital city of Mauritania, coinciding with the recent establishment of Aedes aegypti, the primary vector of dengue, in the city. Anopheles arabiensis, the primary vector of malaria, is also abundant not only in Nouakchott but also in most areas of the country. Resistance to insecticides has been studied in An. arabiensis but not in Ae. aegypti in Mauritania. The objective of the present study was to establish the baseline data on the frequencies of knockdown resistance (kdr) mutations in the voltage-gated sodium channel (vgsc) gene in Ae. aegypti collected in Nouakchott to improve vector control. Methods: Resting Ae. aegypti mosquitoes were collected in 2017 and 2018 in Teyarett and Dar Naim districts in Nouakchott using a battery-powered aspirator. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and DNA sequencing were performed to detect the presence of five kdr mutations known to be associated with pyrethroid resistance: L982W, S989P, I1011M/G, V1016G/I, and F1534C. Results: A total of 100 female Ae. aegypti mosquitoes were identified among collected resting culicid fauna, of which 60% (60/100) were unfed, 12% (12/100) freshly blood-fed, and 28% (28/100) gravid. Among the mutations investigated in this study, 989P, 1016G, and 1534C were found to be widespread, with the frequencies of 0.43, 0.44, and 0.55, respectively. Mutations were not found in codons 982 and 1011. No other mutations were detected within the fragments analyzed in this study. Genotype distribution did not deviate from Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. The most frequent co-occurring point mutation patterns among Ae. aegypti mosquitoes were the heterozygous individuals 989SP/1016VG/1534FC detected in 45.1% of mosquitoes. In addition, homozygous mutant 1534CC co-occurred simultaneously with homozygous wild type 989SS and 1016VV in 30.5% of mosquito specimens. Inversely, homozygous wild-type 1534FF co-occurred simultaneously with homozygous mutant 989PP and 1016GG in 19.5% of the mosquitoes. Conclusions: To our knowledge, this is the first study reporting the presence of three point mutations in the vgsc gene of Ae. aegypti in Mauritania. The findings of the present study are alarming because they predict a high level of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides which are commonly used in vector control in the country. A novel system to classify root and canal morphology was recently introduced (Ahmed et al. 2017). This systematic review aimed to answer the following research question: Does the Ahmed et al. system provide a more accurate and practical classification of root and canal anatomy compared to other classifications? A literature search was conducted in Google Scholar, Scopus and Wiley Online Library to identify the citation counts for the article entitled 'A new system for classifying root and root canal morphology; doi.org/10.1111/iej.12685'. After removal of duplicates and unrelated articles, 15 studies were included and analysed. All studies compared the Ahmed et al. system with the Vertucci classification. Results revealed that both systems were able to classify simple canal configurations in single‐rooted anterior and premolar teeth, disto‐buccal and palatal roots of maxillary molars. However, the Ahmed et al. system provided more accurate and comprehensive categorisations of single‐rooted teeth with complex canal anatomy, multi‐rooted maxillary and mandibular premolars and the mesio‐buccal root of maxillary molars. Purpose: To share our experience in the management of a specific type of vascular malformations (lymphatic) at a specialized multidisciplinary clinic for vascular anomalies. Methods: Data of patients attending the vascular anomaly clinic during the period 2015 through 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The study included cases diagnosed primarily as lymphatic malformations (LMs). We excluded cases associated with complex/syndromic vascular malformations. Available data included regional distribution of the LMs, age at presentation, sex, imaging studies, and different modes of treatment. Results: The study included 131 cases of LMs whose data were available for retrospective analysis. Generally, LMs had a benign course with good prognosis apart from two recorded mortalities (1.5%) during the 9-year period of the study. In this series, 93 cases were managed by injection sclerotherapy (Bleomycin). About 57 cases showed satisfactory response to injection sclerotherapy alone without the need to add other treatment modalities. Forty cases underwent surgical excision/debulking. Postoperative wound complications were recorded in 5 cases (12.5%). Sirolimus was offered for patients with LMs after the failure of conventional treatment (injection/surgery) to control associated significant complications. Conclusion: Lymphatic malformations represent a common presentation at the vascular anomaly clinic, which usually have a benign course. Complications are mainly cosmetic especially when involving the face, and sometimes superadded infections may occur. Objectives: This review aims to discuss the implications of anatomy of the root, pulp chamber, and canals on pulpotomy and revitalization procedures (RPs) as treatment alternatives to root canal treatment procedures. Methods: This narrative review was undertaken to address two main questions – why remove vital pulp tissue in teeth with complex canal anatomy when it can be preserved? And why replace the necrotic pulp in teeth with mature roots with a synthetic material when we can revitalize? This review also aims to discuss anatomical challenges with pulpotomy and revitalization procedures. Results: Maintaining the vitality of the pulp via partial or full pulpotomy procedures avoids the multiple potential challenges faced by clinicians during root canal treatment. However, carrying out pulpotomy procedures requires a meticulous understanding of the pulp chamber anatomy, which varies from tooth to tooth. Literature shows an increased interest in the application of RPs in teeth with mature roots; however, to date, the relation between the complexity of the root canal system and outcomes of RPs in necrotic multi-rooted teeth with mature roots is unclear and requires further robust comparative research and long-term follow-up. Conclusions: Whenever indicated, pulpotomy procedures are viable treatment options for vital teeth with mature roots; however, comparative, adequately powered studies with long-term follow-up are needed as a priority in this area. RPs show promising outcomes for necrotic teeth with mature roots that warrant more evidence in different tooth types with long-term follow-ups. Clinical relevance: Clinicians should be aware of the pulp chamber anatomy, which is subject to morphological changes by age or as a defensive mechanism against microbial irritation, before practicing partial and full pulpotomy procedures. During the past four decades, recurrent outbreaks of various arthropod-borne viruses have been reported in Mauritania. This review aims to consolidate the current knowledge on the epidemiology of the major arboviruses circulating in Mauritania. Online databases including PubMed and Web of Science were used to retrieve relevant published studies. The results showed that numerous arboviral outbreaks of variable magnitude occurred in almost all 13 regions of Mauritania, with Rift Valley fever (RVF), Crimean–Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), and dengue (DEN) being the most common infections. Other arboviruses causing yellow fever (YF), chikungunya (CHIK), o'nyong-nyong (ONN), Semliki Forest (SF), West Nile fever (WNF), Bagaza (BAG), Wesselsbron (WSL), and Ngari (NRI) diseases have also been found circulating in humans and/or livestock in Mauritania. The average case fatality rates of CCHF and RVF were 28.7% and 21.1%, respectively. RVF outbreaks have often occurred after unusually heavy rainfalls, while CCHF epidemics have mostly been reported during the dry season. The central and southeastern regions of the country have carried the highest burden of RVF and CCHF. Sheep, cattle, and camels are the main animal reservoirs for the RVF and CCHF viruses. Culex antennatus and Cx. poicilipes mosquitoes and Hyalomma dromedarii, H. rufipes, and Rhipicephalus everesti ticks are the main vectors of these viruses. DEN outbreaks occurred mainly in the urban settings, including in Nouakchott, the capital city, and Aedes aegypti is likely the main mosquito vector. Therefore, there is a need to implement an integrated management strategy for the prevention and control of arboviral diseases based on sensitizing the high-risk occupational groups, such as slaughterhouse workers, shepherds, and butchers for zoonotic diseases, reinforcing vector surveillance and control, introducing rapid point-of-care diagnosis of arboviruses in high-risk areas, and improving the capacities to respond rapidly when the first signs of disease outbreak are identified. The exacerbation of climatic changes helped to increase the risk of plant diseases in the world. The novelty of this study lies in the manufacture of therapeutic nutrients using nanotechnology with strong effectiveness against plant disease. Based on this concept, we mycosynthesized bimetallic ZnO-CuO nanoparticles (NPs), alternatives to reduce the spread of Vicia faba Fusarium wilt disease, which is one of the world's most imperative cultivated crops. The article's uniqueness comes in the utilization of ZnO-CuO nanoparticles to carry out two crucial tasks: therapeutic nutrients and managing Fusarium disease. To evaluate the resistance of infected plants, disease index (DI), photosynthetic pigments, osmolytes, oxidative stress and yield parameters were assessed. NPs of ZnO, CuO, and ZnO-CuO were mycosynthesized using a biomass filtrate of Aspergillus fumigatus OQ519856. DI reached 87.5%, due to Fusarium infection, and, as a result, a severe decrease in growth characters, photosynthetic pigments, total soluble carbohydrates, and proteins as well as yield parameters was observed. Infected plants produced more of the studied metabolites and antioxidants. On the other hand, the treatment with CuO-ZnO NPs led to a great decline in the DI by 22.5% and increased the protection by 74.28%. A clear improvement in growth characters, photosynthetic pigments and a high content of carbohydrates and proteins was also observed in both healthy and infected plants as a result of CuO-ZnO NPs treatment. Remarkably, CuO-ZnO NPs significantly increased the yield parameters, i.e., pods/plant and pod weight, by 146.1% and 228.8%, respectively. It could be suggested that foliar application of NPs of ZnO, CuO, and ZnO-CuO could be commercially used as antifusarial agents and strong elicitors of induced systemic resistance. Aim: The antiviral potentials of rosmarinic acid (RA) against Rift Valley fever (RVF) virus were investigated. Methods: Antiviral activity was investigated by evaluating the reduction in the viral infectivity titer. Computational and LC–MS studies were performed for investigating the mechanism of action. This is via testing the interaction between RA and its major metabolite with the key infectivity proteins and determination of RA cellular permeability. Results: A superior reduction in RVF infectivity titer (45.5%) was observed when RA was applied post-infection compared to 17.7% reduction following its application before infection in addition to time-dependent inactivation kinetics. Recorded data showed in-silico inhibitory potential of RA and its metabolite against RVFV cap-binding protein and glycoprotein C, which are integral for viral transcription. LC–MS revealed cellular inclusion of RA, supporting its intracellular viral interaction. Conclusion: These antiviral potentials might suggest a promising foundation for future anti-RVF drug development. Rift Valley fever virus is a virus that causes disease in animals and humans. This study looked at the ability of rosmarinic acid to stop the virus. Rosmarinic acid helped the cells that were affected by the virus, but it mildly protected the healthy cells. This systematic review evaluated the effects of nano-sized cement particles on the properties of calcium silicate-based cements (CSCs). Using defined keywords, a literature search was conducted to identify studies that investigated properties of nano-calcium silicate-based cements (NCSCs). A total of 17 studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Results indicated that NCSC formulations have favourable physical (setting time, pH and solubility), mechanical (push out bond strength, compressive strength and indentation hardness) and biological (bone regeneration and foreign body reaction) properties compared with commonly used CSCs. However, the characterization and verification for the nano-particle size of NCSCs were deficient in some studies. Furthermore, the nanosizing was not limited to the cement particles and a number of additives were present. In conclusion, the evidence available for the properties of CSC particles in the nano-range is deficient—such properties could be a result of additives which may have enhanced the properties of the material. Objective: This study compared the effects of calcium chloride dihydrate (CaCl2.2H2O) on the physical properties and push-out bond strength of white Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (WMTA) and an experimental Malaysian Portland cement mixed with nano-zirconium oxide (nano-ZrO) [(radiopaque Malaysian Portland cement (RMPC). Mineral Trioxide Aggregate (MTA) was the first calcium silicate cement (CSC) introduced in dentistry, but up to date, it is an expensive cement with long setting time and causes tooth discolouration. Although Portland cement has been introduced as a potential substitute to MTA, it still faces some challenges such as long setting time and lack of sufficient radiopacity. Methods: Four groups [WMTA, RMPC, fast-set WMTA (FS-WMTA) and fast-set RMPC (FS-RMPC)] were prepared. Initial setting time was evaluated using Vicat apparatus. The pH was measured at seven-day intervals. For discolouration potential, cements were packed in the pulp chamber of 46 extracted maxillary incisors. Spectrophotometric readings were obtained at seven-day intervals, and the rate of colour change (ΔE) was recorded. For the push-out bond strength testing, cements were applied in 48 sectioned root samples, and the test was performed using universal testing machine at crosshead speed of 0.5 mm/min until bond failure. Statistical analysis was done according to the nature of each group of data using SPSS 26. Results: Addition of CaCl2.2H2O decreased the initial setting times of both RMPC and WMTA significantly (p<0.05). The pH values of FS-WMTA and FS-RMPC were comparable to their non-accelerated counterparts ranging from 10 to 12. Discolouration effect was more obviously observed with WMTA and FS-WMTA with time compared to RMPC formulations. Push-out bond strength of the two materials also showed an increase with the addition of the accelerator, however, only FS-WMTA showed statistically significant difference compared to WMTA (p<0.05). Conclusion: The addition of CaCl2.2H2O improves the physical and mechanical properties of the newly formulated RMPC and WMTA. The RMPC formulation overcomes the discolouration potential of WMTA. Purpose: To assess the application and accuracy of two systems (Vertucci et al. 1974 and Ahmed et al. 2017) in classifying the root and canal morphology of human dentition among final‐year undergraduates, interns, and postgraduate dental students in India. Methods: The survey was conducted using physical and online presentation modes in two phases. Phase 1; PowerPoint presentation (PPT), describing the most used classification system (Vertucci et al. 1974) and its supplementary types and Ahmed et al. (2017) classification. A single presenter delivered the PPT to participants, using either a projector in an auditorium/seminar hall (face‐to‐face) or an online platform (zoom meeting software). Phase 2 involved determining the students' responses. A questionnaire was distributed amongst the participants after the lecture and collected for analysis. Fisher's exact test was used to analyze the data statistically, and the significance level was set at 0.05 (p < 0.05). Results: A total of 1082 participants were involved in this survey. Overall, 93% of study participants found that Ahmed et al. classification system was more practical and accurate than Vertucci et al. system and its supplemental configurations (p < 0.001). About 97% agreed that Ahmed et al. classification system aided in understanding root and canal morphology better than Vertucci's and its additional configurations, and they recommended to include in their curriculum (p < 0.001). Conclusions: In comparison to Vertucci's classification system and supplementary types, the undergraduate and postgraduate dental students, and interns in India agreed that Ahmed et al. classification system is more practical and accurate for classifying the root and canal morphology. Background Olfactory dysfunction can be a troublesome condition affecting the quality of life of the patient. Postviral olfactory dysfunction is the most common cause attributing to up to 40% of anosmia. COVID-19 infection commonly causes anosmia in 30-66% of patients. The long-term effect of post-COVID olfactory dysfunction is reported to be increasing in incidence. Steroids are usually used in the treatment of olfactory dysfunction and most commonly used locally in the form of nasal steroid sprays, rinses, or drops. Oral systemic steroids are sometimes used; however, they have several known side effects. Other treatments experimented include giving vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, antivirals, and monoclonal antibodies, in addition to olfactory training, counseling, and acupuncture. In this study, the effect of intranasal steroid injection is studied in post-COVID olfactory dysfunction. Results Forty patients with olfactory dysfunction post-COVID-19 for more than 3 months were randomly divided into 2 groups. Group A patients received 8 doses of dexamethasone over 2 months (twice weekly) injected near the olfactory mucosa in the nasal septum and middle turbinate, compared to group B who received saline injected in the same way as placebo. Numerically, nasal injection of corticosteroids in group A showed more subjective improvement using the questionnaire of olfactory disorders-negative statement QOD-NS than the control patients in group B but this improvement was statistically insignificant. Background: SARS‐COV‐2 infection reframed medical knowledge in many aspects, yet there is still a lot to be discovered. Coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) can cause neuropsychiatric, psychological, and psychosocial impairments. Literature regarding the cognitive impact of COVID-19 is still limited. This study aims to evaluate cognitive function, anxiety, and depression among patients with coronavirus disease 19. Methods: Sixty COVID-19 patients were recruited and sub-grouped according to the site of care into three groups, home isolation, ward, and RICU, and compared with 60 matched control participants. Entire clinical history, O2 saturation, mini-mental state examination (MMSE), Hamilton's anxiety (HAM-A), and depression rating scales (HAM-D) were assessed. Results: MMSE showed significantly lowest results for the ICU group, with a value of 21.65 ± 3.52. Anxiety levels were the highest for the ICU group, with a highly significant difference vs. the home isolation group (42.45 ± 4.85 vs. 27.05 ± 9.52; p < 0.001). Depression values assessed showed a highly significant difference in intergroup comparison (44.8 ± 6.64 vs. 28.7 ± 7.54 vs. 31.25 ± 8.89; p <0.001, for ICU vs. ward vs. home group, respectively). MMSE revealed a significant negative correlation with age and education level, anxiety level had significant negative correlations with severity of illness and male gender, and depression level had highly significant negative correlations with severity of illness and male gender. Conclusion: Both cognitive and neuropsychiatric symptoms were affected in COVID-19 cases, especially in ICU-admitted patients. One of the most common cancers that result in death is lung cancer. There is new hope in the fight against lung cancer thanks to the chemopreventive properties of natural dietary substances like β-caryophyllene oxide (CPO), and research is currently being done to test this theory. CPO, a sesquiterpene isolated from medicinal plant essential oils, inhibits carcinogenesis and has been effective in treating many cancers. This study examined how CPO affected proliferation of human lung cancer A549 cells. CPO was found to have an inhibitory concentration (IC50) of 124.1 g/ml. The proliferative markers Ki67 and PCNA were significantly inhibited after cells were treated with CPO at a concentration of 50 g/ml compared to controls. CPO-treated cells expressed more P21, P53, and DNA strand breaks than controls. This was accompanied by a significant cell cycle arrest in the S and G2/M phases. In treated A549 cells, this was also associated with a significant induction of apoptosis, as shown by the upregulation of the expression of caspases 3, 7, and 9, as well as Bax, and the downregulation of Bcl-2. Furthermore, the redox status of treated A549 cells revealed a marked rise in GSH and GPx activity levels and a decline in 4-HNE levels, indicating low oxidative stress following CPO treatment of A549 cells. In conclusion, cell cycle arrest and apoptosis, which are unrelated to oxidative stress, were the mechanisms by which CPO reduced cancer lung cell growth. Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) allows three-dimensional evaluation of external root morphology and internal canal configuration of teeth thus allowing accurate diagnosis of rare complexities in the root canal system. This case study presented root canal re-treatment of a maxillary first molar #16 of a 29 years old female patient, wherein, thorough radiographic examination revealed single root morphology in all the teeth. CBCT analysis confirmed the root form and root canal configuration. Endodontic retreatment of the #16 was performed. The maxillary first molars had double fused roots with C-shaped canal configuration while maxillary second and third molars had O-shaped canals with single roots bilaterally. The mandibular first molars had two completely fused roots with C-shaped canal configuration. While the mandibular second and third molars also had C-shaped canal configuration with single roots. The canal configuration of maxillary and mandibular molars was classified according to Martin's and Fan's classification respectively. Relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) is the most prevalent MS subtype. Ample evidence has indicated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are crucial players in autoimmune and inflammatory disorders. This study investigated the expression of lnc-EGFR, SNHG1, and lincRNA-Cox2 in RRMS patients during active relapses and in remission. Additionally, the expression of FOXP3, a master transcription factor for regulatory T cells, and NLRP3-inflammasome-related genes were determined. Relationships between these parameters and MS activity and annualized relapse rate (ARR) were also evaluated. The study included 100 Egyptian participants: 70 RRMS patients (35 during relapse and 35 in remission) and 30 healthy controls. RRMS patients showed significant downregulation of lnc-EGFR and FOXP3 and dramatic upregulation of SNHG1, lincRNA-Cox2, NLRP3, ASC, and caspase-1 compared to controls. Lower serum TGF-β1 and elevated IL-1β levels were observed in RRMS patients. Notably, patients during relapses displayed more significant alterations than those in remission. Lnc-EGFR was positively correlated with FOXP3 and TGF-β1 and negatively correlated with ARR, SNHG1, lincRNA-Cox2, and NLRP3 inflammasome components. Meanwhile, SNHG1 and lincRNA-Cox2 were positively correlated with ARR, NLRP3, ASC, caspase-1, and IL-1β. Excellent diagnostic performance for lnc-EGFR, FOXP3, and TGF-β1 was demonstrated, while all biomarkers exhibited strong prognostic potential for predicting relapses. Finally, the differential expression of lnc-EGFR, SNHG1, and lincRNA-Cox2 in RRMS patients, especially during relapses, suggests their involvement in RRMS pathogenesis and activity. Salt crystallization is the most important weathering processes that causes problems for rocks used as building stones. Therefore, assessment of the physico-mechanical properties of stones against cyclic salt crystallization is a critical issue for rock engineering applications in salty environmental conditions especially prone to abrasion. This research aims at investigating the relationship between the degradation of various physico-mechanical properties including apparent porosity, point load index, unconfined compression strength and abrasion loss rate for rocks during salt weathering process. For showing rock weathering in the salt crystallization process, five kinds of carbonate rocks were sampled from different areas of Egypt and subject to cyclic salt crystallization, up to twenty cycles. The variation rates of their physico-mechanical characteristics and abrasion loss values were calculated after each five cycles of salt weathering. The results showed that the studied rocks are suitable for use as building and decorative stones in areas prone to crystallization of salts, but attention must be paid to rocks with high porosity and low strength characteristics such as El-Minia limestone specimens. It was also found that there are strong linear correlations between the physico-mechanical degradation parameters and the abrasion loss rate of the studied rock samples at the end of the twentieth cycle of salt weathering. These relationships may be used to estimate the abrasion loss rate of the studied rock types against the cyclic salt weathering conditions and hence to make a rapid evaluation of the stone durability. Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune-mediated demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) that is usually associated with varying degrees of progressive disability. Free Kappa light chain (FKLC) has attracted growing attention as a significant diagnostic marker of MS. Aim of the Work: The aim of this work was to study the diagnostic utility of free kappa light chain index in a sample of Egyptian MS patients versus IgG oligo clonal bands (OCBs) in CSF and serum in an attempt to throw light on a new simpler non subjective potential diagnostic marker in MS. Patients and Methods: This was a case control study of MS patients carried at Ain Shams University Hospitals during the period from January 2021 till January 2022. Subjects included in this study were 30 patients with symptoms suggestive of MS yet undiagnosed and 20 controls, on the basis of their MRI findings, clinical presentation and according to the revised McDonald criteria 2017. Accordingly, patients were diagnosed as MS including 4 CIS patients, 18 RRMS patients and 3 PPMS patients and non-MS including 2 NMO patients, 1 ADEM patient, 1 APS and 1 SLE patient. They were 8 males and 22 female patients, their age ranged from 20 to 40 years old with mean 30.13 ± 6.85 SD. The control group included 5 males and 15 females; their ages ranged from 20 to 40 years with mean 30.13 ± 6.85 SD. Results: We found a statistically significantly higher FKLC index and FKLC IF among MS patients in comparison to both control and non-MS group. it could be used for diagnosis of MS with a diagnostic sensitivity of 100 % and a diagnostic specificity of 100 %. Objective: Endodontic treatment generally results in a wide range of postoperative pain intensity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of preoperative acupuncture on postoperative pain in molar teeth with symptomatic apical periodontitis. Method and Materials: Thirty patients having symptomatic apical periodontitis with a preoperative and percussion pain of visual analog scale (VAS) more than 60 were included in this study. The patients were randomly distributed into two groups; G1, real acupuncture; and G2, placebo (mock acupuncture). After 15 minutes of application, root canal treatment was performed. A logistic regression analysis was used to determine the variable(s) (group, age, gender, tooth number, preoperative pain, preoperative percussion pain, and radiographic status) that controls the postoperative pain significantly. Chisquare, Mann Whitney U, and independent t tests were performed to analyze the data, and the level of significance was set at .05 (P = .05). Results: A regression analysis demonstrated that the group variable had the most significant effect on postoperative pain at day 1 (P = .003). Results showed that acupuncture reduced the preoperative and percussion pain levels significantly more than placebo group at all day intervals (P < .05). For postoperative pain at the 7-day follow-up, the pain ranged from "mild" to "no pain" in G1, compared with "moderate" to "minimal" in G2. Only one patient required postoperative analgesics in the acupuncture group compared to eight patients for placebo. Conclusions: Preoperative acupuncture can be beneficial in reducing postoperative pain in teeth with symptomatic apical periodontitis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The paraglottic space is an essential anatomic compartment of the larynx. It is central to the spread of laryngeal cancer and to the choice of conservative laryngeal surgery and many phonosurgical procedures. Since its description, 60 years ago, the surgical anatomy of the paraglottic space was sparsely revisited. Amid the era of endoscopic and transoral microscopic functional surgery of the larynx, we provide here a long‐awaited description of the inside‐out anatomy of the paraglottic space. Methodology: Using an endoscope equipped with a 3D camera, we dissected 10 hemilarynges from 5 fresh frozen cadavers from the inside out. Before dissection, we labeled the vessels through injecting them with colored latex. We explored the paraglottic space emphasizing its shape, boundaries, and contents. We documented our findings through endoscopic photography and video recordings. Results: The paraglottic space is a spacious tetrahedral space located parallel not only to the glottic, but also to the subglottic and the supraglottic compartments of the laryngeal lumen. It has musculo‐cartilaginous, musculo‐fibrous, and mucosal boundaries. It is separated from the pyriform sinus only by mucosa. A cushion of fat surrounds its vascular and to a lesser extent its neural contents. Harbored intrinsic laryngeal muscles are endoscopically identifiable within the space, namely the thyroarytenoid, the lateral, and posterior cricoarytenoid muscles. Conclusion: The endoscopic description of the paraglottic space partly fills the knowledge gap on the laryngeal anatomy from the inside out. Background: Platelet-derived lyophilized growth factors (L-GFs) use a standardized number of allogenic pathogen-free platelets instead of autologous platelets used in PRP as a source of growth factors. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of L-GF injection versus placebo in subacromial impingement (SIS) treatment. Methods: The current randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study included sixty patients (40 females and 20 males, aged between 24 and 75 years) diagnosed with SIS (both clinically and sonographically). Patients were randomly assigned to two equal groups. Under ultrasound guidance, group 1 received subacromial saline injection, and group 2 received L-GF injection. Clinical examination, pain visual analogue scale (VAS), shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI) and shoulder ultrasound were performed before and at the 8th week after injection. Results: Follow-up assessment showed statistically significant improvement in the L-GF group regarding active flexion, active and passive internal rotation and extension, SPADI-disability scale, VAS and thickness of the supraspinatus tendon by US. Regression analysis showed that group 1 was approximately 30 times more likely than the L-GF group to experience painful arc at follow-up. Both groups showed statistically significant improvement in SPADI-pain scale and SPADI-total, flexion and abduction (still the mean value of abduction was significantly higher in the L-GF group). Conclusions: L-GF injection resulted in clinically significant reductions in pain and functional disability outcomes in patients with SIS. An objective significant reduction in the thickness of the supraspinatus tendon, measured by ultrasound, in the L-GF group hopefully encourages proper healing and functioning in SIS. MMR vaccine is a common vaccine that contains oncolytic viruses (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) and could be used as a potential anti-cancer treatment. In this study, we assessed the anti-tumor activity of the MMR vaccine against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) solid tumor induced in mice. The in vitro assay showed that vaccine IC50 in EAC was approximately 200 CCID50. The vaccine was intratumorally administrated twice weekly in EAC-bearing mice. The antitumor response of the vaccine was measured by tumor growth, survival rate, histopathologic examination, flow cytometry analysis, and body biochemical parameters. The MMR vaccine demonstrated a substantial reduction of tumor growth and prolongation of life span as well. The proliferation marker was significantly lower in the vaccine-treated group. Moreover, the apoptosis key parameter Casp-3 was also higher in the vaccine-treated group. The vaccine somewhat restored the deterioration of the biochemical parameters (LDH, GOT, GPT, MDA, NO, and PON-1) in the tumor-bearing mice. Finally, this study indicated the potential antitumor effect of MMR vaccine via anti‑proliferative, apoptotic activities, and modulating the antioxidant parameters. Today, the use of alternative fuels that have plant origin has attracted the attention of most countries because these fuels emit less pollution. In this research, bioethanol production has been evaluated considering solar energy sources. In the present study, the possibility of developing net-zero energy concepts in a bioethanol production plant as one of the most consumed energy industries in the field of bio-systems of the country from a technical and economic perspective was investigated. The purpose of this research is to model the bioethanol production plant with the aim of achieving zero net energy using a photovoltaic system. In addition, technical and economic analyses have been used in different approaches for a more detailed investigation. According to the modeling done, in the zero net energy approach, the results showed that the maximum production of electrical energy by the photovoltaic cell is 76.6 GWh/y. For this approach, the return on investment is 10.7 years. The area required to install photovoltaic modules in this approach is very large and equal to 88 334 m2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
