The characteristics of rigid, nanoclay-filled, medium-density NEOpolyol-380 polyurethane foams components can be estimated when two conditions are met: (1) the foam blocks are produced in a sealed mould; and (2) the mass of the reacting mixture is kept constant. It was shown that, with an increase in filler concentration, the total mass of the filled polymeric network stays constant, but the total volume reduces; the higher the ratio of density of the exfoliated nanoclay platelets and polymer, the higher the volume reduction of the polymeric network. Experimental data of polyurethane foam block mass were acquired at concentrations η = 0%, 0.25%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 5% from the mass of a filled reacting mixture. Foam-density dependence in the uniform zone and in the side-sections of the produced blocks on the: (1) mass of the blocks; and (2) the concentration of the filler was analysed. The study demonstrated that the correlation of the specimens' density with the foam block mass is much higher than that of the filler concentration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Medium-density rigid polyurethane (PU) foams are often produced in sealed molds; therefore, the processes inside the mold and structure of the produced foam blocks need to be understood. The structural and mechanical anisotropy is shown to be the third variable along with (1) concentration of the nanoclay filler and (2) density, to determine the mechanical properties of the filled PU foam composites produced in a sealed mold. The varying anisotropy of the specimens hinders the accurate evaluation of the filling effect. The methodology for the estimation of the anisotropy characteristics of specimens from different locations within the nanoclay filled PU foam blocks is elaborated. A criterion, based on analysis of Poisson's ratios, is formulated for the selection of specimens with similar anisotropy characteristics. The shear and bulk moduli are estimated theoretically, dependent on the filler's concentration, using the experimentally determined constants. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, the concept of ν-sequence, which the authors proposed in their previous publications, was used to analyze the number of composite numbers in a certain interval. Different evaluations have been taken for the upper limit of the number of composite numbers in a given interval by applying the ν-sequence over different sets. Based on these evaluations, the number of primes in that interval is determined. Computational experiments were conducted with the proposed method and the results were given. Australia's cities face significant social, economic and environmental challenges, driven by population growth and rapid urbanisation. The pressure to increase housing availability will lead to greater levels of high-density and medium-density stock. However, there is enormous political and community pushback against this. One way to address this challenge is to encourage medium-density living solutions through "precinct" scale development. Precinct-scale development has the potential to include additional hard and soft infrastructure that may offset the perceived negativities of higher densities. As part of Australian research into precinct-scale development, and as part of our broader Smart Cities approach, or more specifically City Analytics approach, new digital planning tools - Envision and ESP - have been developed to support scenario planning and design needs. They utilise a datadriven and scenario planning approach underpinned by Geographic Information System (GIS) functionality. We focus on a case study in the City of Blacktown, Western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. By 2036 Blacktown is forecast to grow to approximately 500,000 people (an increase of over 30%) and 180,000 dwellings. Most new dwellings will be delivered through urban infill. The Blacktown master plan promotes higher density housing, mixed employment uses and continued improvements to the public domain. Our study provides a unique opportunity to implement this broad strategy within a specific case and location. Specifically, this paper provides information on how these digital planning tools supported Blacktown planners in identifying, co-designing and implementing a new approach for precinct level planning. According to a narrow effective separation particle size of a coarse slime separator in the industrial liquid-solid fluidized bed and a low separation efficiency to difficulty washed coal,a theoretical study on the medium density affected to the separation effect of liquid-solid fluidized bed was conducted and upflow clean water flow in the liquid-solid fluidized bed was replaced with heavy medium flow.Under the two upflow conditions individually,the coarse slime separation experiments of the liquid-solid fluidized bed with different flow rate were conducted on the coarse slime with particle size of 3∼0.25 mm.The results showed when heavy medium flow was applied to the separation,the separator would effectively have an effective separated particle size scope of the coarse slime expand to 3∼0.25 mm and a deviation value possibly would be 0.05∼0.10 g/cm3. Under a high flow rate,the ash content of the clean coal could be reduced to 9.85%.When the ash contents of the clean coal was required not over 11%,the clean coal production rate would be improved by 10.21%. The surface roughness is primarily a function of the raw material properties, but other factors like type and amount of resin, press cycle, sanding and moisture content of the boards may also affect the roughness and other surface properties. In this study the effect of the equilibrium moisture content on medium density fiberboards (MDF) surfaces was evaluated using different raw materials in the surface layers as well as different binders. The statistical analysis confirmed that the relationship between equilibrium moisture content and average roughness is a complex function of interactions between many variables. This article describes the changing nature and extent of urban consolidation in Melbourne in the context of government policy. It also compares, for two periods, 1997–98 and 2002–2003, the amount of medium density development categorised by development size, approved in four municipalities (Boroondara, Stonnington, Port Phillip and Yarra) and its location particularly in relation to public transport.
