Introduction: In 2018, the National Cancer Institute of Naples has launched the GLUBREAST Trial to verify the efficacy of cyanoacrylate sealing glue to prevent or reduce seroma after axillary dissection in breast surgery. The glue is a synthetic sealant (N-Butyl-2-CyanoAcrylate+Metacryloxisulfolane) biocompatible, CE approved for internal human uses and surgical procedures. The assumed mechanism of action in breast surgery is that the glue would create a seal coating in the operative field to occlude lymphatic leaks and limit seroma formation. Materials and methods: The trial included 180 patients scheduled for breast-conserving surgery or for radical modified mastectomy without reconstruction. Out of 180 patients, 91 were randomized to receive suction drain and sealant glue after axillary dissection (Experimental Arm), whereas 89 patients (Control Arm) received suction drain without glue. Statistics: A multivariable mixed effect model on presence of liquid drained and volume drained was calculated. Stratified models by visits were performed. Results: The trial ended in June 2022. Older age was associated with a higher volume of seroma drained per day (β 0.30; 95% CI: 0.00–0.60). A 5-U increase in body mass index was associated with higher daily drained seroma volume in patients who underwent breast-conserving surgery (β 5.0; 95% CI: 0.62–9.4), but not in patients who underwent mastectomy (β 2.5; 95% CI: −3.6–8.6). We did not find statistically significant differences in presence of liquid drained and volume drained among the study groups. An advantage for the Experimental Arm was observed from third and fourth to fifth outpatient visits without reaching a statistical significance (p=0.069 and p=0.072, respectively); so far, 5% of patients in the Experimental Group had clinical benefit from the glue. Conclusions: The vast majority of data in the literature come from case series, and surgeons need a higher level of evidence to drive surgical decision-making and choose proper devices to increase patient quality of life. The GLUBREAST randomized trial tested the efficacy of cyanoacrylate sealing glue to prevent postoperative seroma in breast surgery. Although only a small number of patients benefited from sealant application, we regret to say this trial has some limitation, i.e., the prolonged presence of suction drain. Purpose: Newer generation abdominal endografts, including Treo (Terumo Aortic, Sunrise, Florida), have shown optimal safety and effectiveness in treating abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs), even with hostile anatomy over the short- and mid-term. The durability of such results, however, is still a controversial issue, due to the paucity of long-term data. Our aim is to show the long-term outcomes of endovascular aortic repair of both standard and hostile AAAs with the Treo endograft on a cohort of patients treated between 2016 and 2017. Methods: We analyzed the postoperative follow-up of 37 consecutive patients who have undergone endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) with the Treo Endograft between 2016 and 2017, whose baseline clinical conditions, operative data, and short-term outcomes had been published in 2018. All patients were followed up by computed tomography angiography (CTA) at 6 and 12 months and 5 years postoperatively. Primary endpoints were aortic-related mortality, type I–III endoleak (EL), and reintervention rate. Secondary endpoints were the rates of type II ELs and aneurysm sac regression. Results: Of 37 patients, 27 had at least one criterion of anatomic hostility and 11 were performed outside the device-specific instructions for use (IFU). In the perioperative period, we observed 100% technical success, with no perioperative mortality. Over a mean follow-up of 5.5 years (66 months), 3 patients (8.1%) were lost to follow-up and 3 (8.1%) died of non-aortic causes (overall survival: 91.9%). One type IA EL of an AAA with a hostile neck (but within the IFU) and a type III EL of an AAA with standard anatomy were observed and treated by endovascular relining (overall reintervention rate: 5.5%). Four type II ELs were associated with aneurysm sac stability over time and are still under surveillance. Mean aneurysm shrinkage was 11.25±8.30 mm. Conclusion: The optimal results of the Treo Endograft in terms of complication and reintervention rates reported over the mid-term by the current literature (ITA-ENDOBOOT registry) are maintained on the long term, both in case of hostile and friendly aortic anatomy, with a satisfactory shrinkage rate of the aneurysm sac. Clinical Impact: The innovative characteristics of Treo and its short-term results are well-known and reported. The present case series contributes to the scientific validation of a new-generation abdominal aortic endograft over the long-term, focusing especially on its performance in treating AAAs with hostile anatomy. The increasing incidence of organophosphate (OP) pesticide poisoning and the use of OP chemical warfare agents (CWA) in conflicts and terrorist acts need sustainable methods for sensing, decontamination, and detoxification of OP compounds. Enzymes can serve as specific, cost-effective biosensors for OPs. We will report on recent advancements in the use of carboxylesterases from the Hormone-Sensitive Lipase for the detection of OP compounds. In addition, enzymatic-based OP detoxification and decontamination offer long-term, environmentally friendly benefits compared to conventional methods such as chemical treatment, incineration, neutralization, and volatilization. Enzymatic detoxification has gained attention as an alternative to traditional OP-detoxification methods. This review provides an overview of the latest research on enzymatic sensing and detoxification of OPs, by exploiting enzymes, isolated from thermophilic/extremophilic Bacteria and Archaea that show exceptional thermal stability and stability in other harsh conditions. Finally, we will make examples of integration between sensing and decontamination systems, including protein engineering to enhance OP-degrading activities and detailed characterization of the best variants. We demonstrate a robust signal extraction method for x-ray speckle-based tensor tomography. We validate the effectiveness of the method for several carbon fiber composites, highlighting its potential for industrial applications. The proposed method can be adapted to various acquisition schemes and wavefront-marking optical elements, making it a versatile and robust tool for x-ray scattering tensor tomography. Significance: Tracking changes in the vasculature of patients with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) may identify the need for follow-up treatment within only weeks after an initial intervention, enabling timely support and improving patient outcomes. Aim: We aim to evaluate dynamic vascular optical spectroscopy's (DVOS's) ability to accurately monitor the hemodynamics of affected arteries in patients with PAD after a surgical intervention and predict long-term clinical outcomes. Approach: A DVOS system non-invasively monitored the blood flow through 256 lower extremity arteries in 80 PAD patients immediately before, immediately after, and 3 to 4 weeks after they underwent a surgical intervention. Results: Hemodynamic changes measured by DVOS after a revascularization procedure (RP) classified patient long-term (6.2 ± 4.4 months) outcomes with high accuracy [81.6% for patients with ulcers (n = 31); 81.1% for patients without ulcers (n = 54)] by 3 to 4 weeks after the RP, outperforming available ankle-brachial index and ultrasound measurements. In addition, DVOS parameters distinguished between patients who underwent only a catheter angiography (CA) and patients who underwent both a CA and RP (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The DVOS system was able to classify patient long-term clinical outcomes with high accuracy within one month after an RP and distinguish among different interventions. Abrupt, local frictional fault failure comprises a displacement that is normally accompanied by acoustic emission (AE)—an impulsive elastic wave broadcast with an amplitude proportional to particle velocity. The aggregate of these displacements is the basic fault motion. In laboratory shear experiments, the examination of a sequence of laboratory earthquakes includes continuous measurements of fault motion and the associated AE that is broadcast. From these measurements, connections between the fault motion and cumulative sum of the AE amplitude can be identified. The composition of the AE broadcasts reveals inhomogeneity in the fault mechanical structure from which they arise. This inhomogeneity can be decomposed into a time invariant AE component and an articulated AE component. The articulated AE component serves as a "state of the fault diagnostic" that follows a distinctive pattern to fault failure. Waste deriving from quarrying operations of natural stone material retains almost all the mineralogical and compositional characteristics of the original material, for such reason this research aimed to test prototypes cementitious tile adhesives made up recycling the Alwar Quartzite waste, used as fine and ultra-fine aggregate. Particle size distribution analysis, along with X-ray diffractometry, X-ray fluorescence and Scanning Electron Microscopy were carried out to characterize the waste. Experimental research involved the mix-designing of three dough formulations (a regular one [N], a latex added [L] and a fast-setting [R]) tested by using different types of tiles: (i) polished metal plates, (ii) ceramic tiles and (iii) rough natural stone slabs. Fresh prepared doughs were firstly tested for thixotropy achieving high values (ranging 82–93%) and cured for normative requested time after being stuck on a concrete support as reported in European UNI standard regulations. After respective curing time, adhesives technical performances were evaluated by the Pull-Off test obtaining results for Class 1 (N and R) and Class 2 (L) adhesives with high initial tensile adhesive strength. Experimental results carried out in this research proved the possibility to use huge amounts of waste coming from Indian stone industry in cementitious tile adhesives sector without compromising technical performances, proposing itself as an alternative method to landfill disposal for this waste. We use seismic waves that pass through the hypocentral region of the 2016 M6.5 Norcia earthquake together with Deep Learning (DL) to distinguish between foreshocks, aftershocks and time-to-failure (TTF). Binary and N-class models defined by TTF correctly identify seismograms in test with > 90% accuracy. We use raw seismic records as input to a 7 layer CNN model to perform the classification. Here we show that DL models successfully distinguish seismic waves pre/post mainshock in accord with lab and theoretical expectations of progressive changes in crack density prior to abrupt change at failure and gradual postseismic recovery. Performance is lower for band-pass filtered seismograms (below 10 Hz) suggesting that DL models learn from the evolution of subtle changes in elastic wave attenuation. Tests to verify that our results indeed provide a proxy for fault properties included DL models trained with the wrong mainshock time and those using seismic waves far from the Norcia mainshock; both show degraded performance. Our results demonstrate that DL models have the potential to track the evolution of fault zone properties during the seismic cycle. If this result is generalizable it could improve earthquake early warning and seismic hazard analysis. Various machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques have been recently applied to the forecasting of laboratory earthquakes from friction experiments. The magnitude and timing of shear failures in stick-slip cycles are predicted using features extracted from the recorded ultrasonic or acoustic emission (AE) signals. In addition, the Rate and State Friction (RSF) constitutive laws are extensively used to model the frictional behavior of faults. In this work, we use data from shear experiments coupled with passive acoustic (variance, kurtosis, and AE rate) interleaved with active source ultrasonic monitoring (transmitted wave amplitude) to develop physics-informed neural network (PINN) models incorporating the RSF law and AE rate generation equation with wave amplitude serving as a proxy for friction state variable. This PINN framework allows learning RSF parameters from stick-slip experiments rather than measuring them through a series of velocity step experiments. We observe that when the stick-slip cycles are irregular, the PINN models outperform the data-driven DL models. Transfer learning (TL) PINN models are also developed by pre-training on data collected at one normal stress level followed by forecasting shear failures and retrieving RSF parameters at other stress levels (i.e., with different recurrence intervals) after retraining on a limited amount of new data. Our findings suggest that TL models perform better compared to standalone models. Both standalone and TL PINN-estimated RSF parameters and their ground truth values show excellent agreements thus demonstrating that RSF parameters can be retrieved from laboratory stick-slip experiments using the corresponding acoustic data and that the transmitted wave amplitude provides a good representation of the evolving frictional state during stick-slips. Fluid overpressure from the water released by subducted sediments and oceanic crust is an important mechanism for generating earthquakes via brittle failure and frictional instability. If unstable, such fault materials may also host diverse fault reactivation mechanisms from slow slip events to moderate‐sized earthquakes in cold subduction zones. We examine this hypothesis for glaucophane gouge ‐ a key index minerals for blueschist facies ‐ at lower confining stresses where behavior is poorly understood. We measure friction and stability at temperatures of 100°C–500°C and effective normal stresses of 50–200 MPa, to explore the controls of temperature, stresses and excess pore fluid pressures on fault friction. The frictional coefficient of glaucophane at representative temperatures and stresses is ∼0.70, insensitive to temperature but with a slight increase at lower effective stresses. Elevating temperature promotes a transition from velocity‐strengthening to weak velocity‐weakening behavior, indicating the destabilizing effect of high temperature downdip in subduction zones. Reducing effective normal stress or concomitantly elevating pore fluid pressure further strengthens the velocity‐weakening response and would be manifest as moderate‐sized earthquakes. Our results support the potential for enhanced unstable sliding of glaucophane gouges at lower effective stresses and blueschist facies temperatures ‐ with weak to moderate velocity‐weakening responses upon fluid pressurization vital for understanding the abundance of slow slip to moderate‐sized earthquakes apparent in cold subduction zones. Plain Language Summary: Blueschist facies present in subduction zones with lower thermal gradient host abundant slow‐slip and dynamic earthquakes—such events requiring critical stress conditions. Such blueschist layers are characterized by abundant fluids that are released as the slab descends and heats—resulting in large excess fluid pressures that may trigger slip on faults at depth. We measure the frictional properties of simulated faults containing glaucophane powders representative of these blueschist products at temperatures, stresses and especially fluid overpressures representative of the descending slab at the plate boundary. Results indicate a temperature‐independent high frictional strength but a transition to unstable slip at both higher temperatures and increased fluid pressures. In the intermediate‐depth subduction zone, depending on the fluid pressure, it is possible to generate earthquakes in a diverse range of modes such as slow‐slip events through moderate‐sized earthquakes. This can explain documented observations in this region. Our results highlight the importance of fluid pressurization and effective stress reduction in controlling such slow‐slip and moderate‐sized events at higher temperatures and for understanding earthquakes in subduction zones. Background: Neutrophils (polymorphonuclear leukocytes, PMNs) are the most abundant subtype of white blood cells and are among the main actors in the inflammatory response. Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory disease affecting both the axial and peripheral joints. Typically associated with psoriasis, PsA can also affect multiple systems and organs, including the nails and entheses. Despite the involvement of PMNs in PsA, their specific role in the disease remains poorly understood. This study aimed to characterize the biological functions of PMNs and neutrophil-related mediators in PsA patients. Materials and methods: 31 PsA patients and 22 healthy controls (HCs) were prospectively recruited. PMNs were isolated from peripheral blood and subjected to in vitro stimulation with lipopolysaccharide (LPS), N-Formylmethionyl-leucylphenylalanine (fMLP), tumor necrosis factor (TNF), phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA), or control medium. Highly purified peripheral blood PMNs (>99%) were evaluated for activation status, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, phagocytic activity, granular enzyme and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) release. Serum levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), myeloperoxidase (MPO), TNF, interleukin 23 (IL-23), and interleukin 17 (IL-17) were measured by ELISA. Serum Citrullinated histone H3 (CitH3) was measured as a NET biomarker. Results: Activated PMNs from PsA patients displayed reduced activation, decreased ROS production, and impaired phagocytic activity upon stimulation with TNF, compared to HCs. PMNs from PsA patients also displayed reduced granular enzyme (MPO) and NET release. Serum analyses revealed elevated levels of MMP-9, MPO, TNF, IL-23, IL-17, and CitH3 in PsA patients compared to HCs. Serum CitH3 levels positively correlated with MPO and TNF concentrations, and IL-17 concentrations were positively correlated with IL-23 levels in PsA patients. These findings indicate that PMNs from PsA patients show reduced in vitro activation and function, and an increased presence of neutrophil-derivedmediators (MMP-9, MPO, TNF, IL-23, IL-17, and CitH3) in their serum. Conclusions: Taken together, our findings suggest that PMNs from PsA patients exhibit an "exhausted" phenotype, highlighting their plasticity and multifaceted roles in PsA pathophysiology. While self-sacrifice and martyrdom are considered an important component in several forms of violent extremism, including jihadism and even sectors of violent right-wing extremism, very few works have looked at the presence of these narratives and practices in today's violent left-wing and anarchist extremism. This article aims to help fill this gap, paying attention to insurrectionary anarchism, an understudied violent extremist tendency within the diverse anarchist galaxy. In particular, the paper focuses on Alfredo Cospito, a well-known and influential exponent of this transnational clandestine movement, convicted of terrorism in Italy in 2013, and his widely publicized prison hunger strike in 2022–2023, drawing upon primary and secondary sources. During his long hunger strike to protest against detention conditions, Cospito knowingly risked his life for the cause but at the same time he explicitly rejected the idea of martyrdom with scorn. Building on this emblematic case, the paper explores the reasons why contemporary insurrectionary anarchists are reluctant to accept and promote the powerful social construct of martyrdom, with an emphasis on cultural and organizational constraints. This study aims to quantify the economic value of environmental externalities by proposing an approach tailored to areas designated for "civic uses". These areas fall within the broader category of "collective goods" on which the legislator places particular emphasis, especially in regard to their protection and enhancement. The technique applied in this study is the total economic value (TEV), quantified through a spatialization and modeling of socioeconomic and environmental variables on Geographic Information Systems. The methodology was used for a specific case study area, the forests of Land Association "Bosco dei Bardi" in the Tuscany region of central Italy. This area exhibits the same characteristics and fulfills the same functions as those designated for civic uses. The results demonstrate the importance of providing public decision-makers with appropriate tools to protect and enhance these areas. The results also underscore the economic significance of forest ecosystem services compared to average regional values. Agricultural crops are targeted by various pathogens (fungi, bacteria, and viruses) and pests (herbivorous arthropods). Antimicrobial and insecticidal peptides are increasingly recognized as eco‐friendly tools for crop protection due to their low propensity for resistance development and the fact that they are fully biodegradable. However, historical challenges have hindered their development, including poor stability, limited availability, reproducibility issues, high production costs, and unwanted toxicity. Toxicity is a primary concern because crop‐protective peptides interact with various organisms of environmental and economic significance. This review focuses on the potential of genetically encoded peptide libraries like the use of two‐hybrid‐based methods for antimicrobial peptides identification and insecticidal spider venom peptides as two main approaches for targeting plant pathogens and pests. We discuss some key findings and challenges regarding the practical application of each strategy. We conclude that genetically encoded peptide library‐ and spider venom‐derived crop protective peptides offer a sustainable and environmentally responsible approach for addressing modern crop protection needs in the agricultural sector. Distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) has emerged as a promising seismic technology for monitoring microearthquakes (MEQs) with high spatial resolution. Efficient algorithms are needed for processing large DAS data volumes. This study introduces a deep learning (DL) model based on a Residual Convolutional Neural Network (ResNet) for detecting MEQs using DAS data, named as DASEventNet. The test data were collected from the Utah FORGE 16A (78)‐32 hydraulic stimulation experiments conducted in April 2022. The DASEventNet model achieves a remarkable accuracy of 100% when discriminating MEQs from noise in the raw test set of 260 examples. Surprisingly, the model identified weak MEQ signatures that have been manually categorized as noise. The decision‐making process with the model is decoded by the classic activation map, which illuminates learning features of the DASEventNet model. These features provide clear illustrations of weak MEQs and varied noise types. Finally, we apply the trained model to the entire period (∼7 days) of continuous DAS recordings and find that it discovers >5,700 new MEQs, previously unregistered in the public Silixa DAS catalog. The DASEventNet model significantly outperforms the traditional seismic method Short‐Term Average/Long‐Term Average (STA/LTA), which detected only 1,307 MEQs. The DASEventNet detection threshold is Mw−1.80 compared to the minimum magnitude of Mw−1.14 detected by STA/LTA. The spatiotemporal distribution of the newly identified MEQs defines an extensive stimulation zone and more accurately characterizes fracture geometry. Our results highlight the potential of DL for long‐term, real‐time microseismic monitoring that can improve enhanced geothermal systems and other activities that include subsurface hydraulic fracturing. Background: Breast cancer is a global health problem, and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) is the standard procedure for early-stage breast cancer. Technetium-99 (TC-99), alone or combined with blue dye (BD) are conventional tracers for SLNB, but they have safety, availability, and cost limitations. Indocyanine green (ICG) is an alternative tracer that has been gaining acceptance among healthcare professionals. This study aimed at assessing the clinical and economic value of ICG in hospital settings, using the health technology assessment (HTA) framework. Methods: We conducted a comprehensive evaluation of ICG for SLNB, based on literature sources and data collected from two Italian hospitals that switched from TC-99 to ICG. We analyzed ICG's technical attributes through technology documentation and relevant databases. We performed a systematic literature review of 36 studies to assess the clinical effectiveness and safety of ICG. We obtained organizational insights from clinicians and the clinical engineer involved in the study. We applied Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) and Budget Impact Analysis (BIA) to estimate the economic impact of ICG. The ethical, legal, and social implications of ICG were considered through clinicians' inputs and technology documentation. Results: Our results showed that ICG had equivalent or superior clinical effectiveness compared to TC-99 and BD, with minimal adverse events. ICG simplified the surgical pathways, by streamlining procedures, reducing waiting times, and increasing flexibility in scheduling surgeries. Moreover, the TDABC analysis showed significant cost reductions by avoiding the need for pre-operative lymphoscintigraphy and hospitalization, with average savings per single care pathway of around 18% for ICG compared to TC-99. Finally, ICG improved patient experience, and proved regulatory compliance. Conclusions: This study provided strong evidence for ICG's clinical and economic value for SLNB in breast cancer. Introduction: The Janus kinase (JAK) family includes four cytoplasmic tyrosine kinases (JAK1, JAK2, JAK3, and TYK2) constitutively bound to several cytokine receptors. JAKs phosphorylate downstream signal transducers and activators of transcription (STAT). JAK-STAT5 pathways play a critical role in basophil and mast cell activation. Previous studies have demonstrated that inhibitors of JAK-STAT pathway blocked the activation of mast cells and basophils. Methods: In this study, we investigated the in vitro effects of ruxolitinib, a JAK1/2 inhibitor, on IgE- and IL-3-mediated release of mediators from human basophils, as well as substance P-induced mediator release from skin mast cells (HSMCs). Results: Ruxolitinib concentration-dependently inhibited IgE-mediated release of preformed (histamine) and de novo synthesized mediators (leukotriene C4) from human basophils. Ruxolitinib also inhibited anti-IgE- and IL-3-mediated cytokine (IL-4 and IL-13) release from basophils, as well as the secretion of preformed mediators (histamine, tryptase, and chymase) from substance Pactivated HSMCs. Discussion: These results indicate that ruxolitinib, inhibiting the release of several mediators from human basophils and mast cells, is a potential candidate for the treatment of inflammatory disorders. We exploit nonlinear elastodynamic properties of fractured rock to probe the micro‐scale mechanics of fractures and understand the relation between fluid transport and fracture aperture under dynamic stressing. Experiments were conducted on rough, tensile‐fractured Westerly granite subject to triaxial stresses. We measure fracture permeability for steady‐state fluid flow with deionized water. Pore pressure oscillations are applied at amplitudes ranging from 0.2 to 1 MPa at 1 Hz frequency. During dynamic stressing we transmit ultrasonic signals through the fracture using an array of piezoelectric transducers (PZTs) to monitor evolution of interface properties. We examine the influence of fracture aperture and contact area by conducting measurements at effective normal stresses of 10–20 MPa. Additionally, the evolution of contact area with stress is characterized using pressure sensitive film. These experiments are conducted separately with the same fracture and map contact area at stresses from 9 to 21 MPa. The measurements are a proxy for "true" contact area for the fracture surface and we relate them to elastic properties using the calculated PZT sensor footprints via numerical modeling of Fresnel zones. We compare the elastodynamic response of the fracture using the stress‐induced changes in ultrasonic wave velocities for transmitter‐receiver pairs to image spatial variations in contact properties. We show that nonlinear elasticity and permeability enhancement decrease with increasing normal stress. Additionally, post‐oscillation wave velocity and permeability exhibit quick recoveries toward pre‐oscillation values. Estimates of fracture contact area (global and local) demonstrate that the elastodynamic and permeability responses are dominated by fracture topology. Haematopoietic stem cell (HSC) transplantation (HSCT) is the only curative treatment for a broad range of haematological malignancies, but the standard of care relies on untargeted chemotherapies and limited possibilities to treat malignant cells after HSCT without affecting the transplanted healthy cells1. Antigen-specific cell-depleting therapies hold the promise of much more targeted elimination of diseased cells, as witnessed in the past decade by the revolution of clinical practice for B cell malignancies2. However, target selection is complex and limited to antigens expressed on subsets of haematopoietic cells, resulting in a fragmented therapy landscape with high development costs2–5. Here we demonstrate that an antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) targeting the pan-haematopoietic marker CD45 enables the antigen-specific depletion of the entire haematopoietic system, including HSCs. Pairing this ADC with the transplantation of human HSCs engineered to be shielded from the CD45-targeting ADC enables the selective eradication of leukaemic cells with preserved haematopoiesis. The combination of CD45-targeting ADCs and engineered HSCs creates an almost universal strategy to replace a diseased haematopoietic system, irrespective of disease aetiology or originating cell type. Background: The treatment choice of visceral artery aneurysms in an elective setting is debated. The durability and the risk of reintervention with endovascular treatment are still reasons for concern, whereas open surgery is invasive and burdened by major complications. In anecdotal reports and isolated studies, robotic-assisted surgery seems to provide the possibility of a minimally invasive treatment and the durability of traditional open surgery, but the literature supporting this view is scarce. This review aims to collect the results of robotic-assisted surgery in the treatment of visceral artery aneurysms. Methods: A systematic search of the main research databases was performed: the study endpoints were mortality and conversion rates, perioperative morbidity, and freedom from late complications and reinterventions. Results: We identified 16 studies on 53 patients. All cases underwent successful resection, with three conversions to laparoscopy. Perioperative and aneurysm-related mortality were nil. Over a median follow-up of 9 months, two reinterventions were reported (3.6%). Conclusion: The robotic technique is safe and effective in treating splenic and renal artery aneurysms, and it should be considered as a valuable alternative to endovascular and open repair, although larger sample sizes and a longer-term follow-up are necessary to confirm such results. Earthquakes are rupture-like processes that propagate along tectonic faults and cause seismic waves. The propagation speed and final area of the rupture, which determine an earthquake's potential impact, are directly related to the nature and quantity of the energy dissipation involved in the rupture process. Here, we present the challenges associated with defining and measuring the energy dissipation in laboratory and natural earthquakes across many scales. We discuss the importance and implications of distinguishing between energy dissipation that occurs close to and far behind the rupture tip, and we identify open scientific questions related to a consistent modeling framework for earthquake physics that extends beyond classical Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics. The human paraoxonase 2 (PON2) is the oldest member of a small family of arylesterase and lactonase enzymes, representing the first line of defense against bacterial infections and having a major role in ROS-associated diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegeneration, and diabetes. Specific Post-Translational Modifications (PTMs) clustering nearby two residues corresponding to pon2 polymorphic sites and their impact on the catalytic activity are not yet fully understood. Thus, the goal of the present study was to develop an improved PON2 purification protocol to obtain a higher amount of protein suitable for in-depth biochemical studies and biotechnological applications. To this end, we also tested several compounds to stabilize the active monomeric form of the enzyme. Storing the enzyme at 4 °C with 30 mM Threalose had the best impact on the activity, which was preserved for at least 30 days. The catalytic parameters against the substrate 3-Oxo-dodecanoyl-Homoserine Lactone (3oxoC12-HSL) and the enzyme ability to interfere with the biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PAO1) were determined, showing that the obtained enzyme is well suited for downstream applications. Trichoderma erinaceum is a filamentous fungus that was isolated from decaying sugarcane straw at a Brazilian ethanol biorefinery. This fungus shows potential as a source of plant cell wall-degrading enzymes (PCWDEs). In this study, we conducted a comprehensive multiomics investigation of T. erinaceum to gain insights into its enzymatic capabilities and genetic makeup. Firstly, we performed genome sequencing and assembly, which resulted in the identification of 10,942 genes in the T. erinaceum genome. We then conducted transcriptomics and secretome analyses to map the gene expression patterns and identify the enzymes produced by T. erinaceum in the presence of different substrates such as glucose, microcrystalline cellulose, pretreated sugarcane straw, and pretreated energy cane bagasse. Our analyses revealed that T. erinaceum highly expresses genes directly related to lignocellulose degradation when grown on pretreated energy cane and sugarcane substrates. Furthermore, our secretome analysis identified 35 carbohydrate-active enzymes, primarily PCWDEs. To further explore the enzymatic capabilities of T. erinaceum, we selected a β-glucosidase from the secretome data for recombinant production in a fungal strain. The recombinant enzyme demonstrated superior performance in degrading cellobiose and laminaribiose compared to a well-known enzyme derived from Trichoderma reesei. Overall, this comprehensive study provides valuable insights into both the genetic patterns of T. erinaceum and its potential for lignocellulose degradation and enzyme production. The frictional velocity dependence and healing behavior of subduction fault zones play key roles in the nucleation of stick‐slip instabilities at convergent margins. Diagenetic to low‐grade metamorphic processes such as pressure solution are proposed to be responsible for the change in frictional properties of fault materials along plate interfaces; pressure solution also likely contributes to the acceleration of healing according to previous studies. Here, we report friction studies for temperatures of 20–100°C and normal stresses from 20 to 125 MPa on samples collected from ancient subduction fault zones, the Lower Mugi and Makimine mélanges of the Cretaceous Shimanto belt. The two mélanges correspond to the updip and downdip limits of the seismogenic zone and include deformation features that indicate lower and higher degrees of pressure solution. Our data show that the Lower Mugi mélange exhibits velocity‐weakening to velocity‐neutral frictional behavior under low normal stress and that the Makimine mélange sample shows velocity‐strengthening behavior under high normal stress. We suggest that mineralogical changes due to diagenesis and metamorphism influence fault slip behavior. We measure frictional healing in slide‐hold‐slide experiments for the Lower Mugi mélange sample and document the role of pressure solution in fault healing. Our results show that frictional healing increases at higher temperatures. The microstructures related to pressure solution found in the post‐experimental gouges support the idea that the enhanced healing is related to pressure solution. Plain Language Summary: Investigating the mechanical properties of rock materials in plate boundary faults is crucial for the understanding of subduction zone earthquakes. The nucleation of earthquakes along the plate boundary occurs in a zone where friction drops during slip and fault strength rebuilds after an earthquake. The mechanical properties of fault materials in this zone are likely influenced by local diffusion of mobile elements during the interseismic period. Here, we perform friction experiments using two samples of ancient plate boundary faults that were near the updip and downdip limits of the zone, respectively. The first set of experiments reveals a variation in frictional response to slip under an experimental setup analogous to subduction zone conditions. Variation in the magnitude of interseismic pressure solution strain preserved in the samples is likely the cause of varying responses that lead to the nucleation and cessation of earthquakes. We conduct another series of experiments under varying hydrothermal conditions that reveal a faster restrengthening of the fault material at elevated temperatures. This is likely related to the temperature dependence of pressure solution, which is found to be an operative deformation mechanism based on the examination of post‐experimental materials. The Ukrainian crisis has caused important repercussions at the international level, including the influx of thousands of voluntary fighters from abroad. According to recent estimates, from 2014 until the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, approximately 1,000 Westerners travelled to the disputed region of the Donbas (Eastern Ukraine), on both sides of the conflict (Ukrainian forces and Russia-supported "separatist" militias). This article intends to offer an original contribution to the empirical study of the mobilization of Western fighters in the Donbas, by taking into account, for the first time, the national case of Italy (one of the countries most affected by the phenomenon in the West). In particular, based on detailed primary and secondary sources, the paper examines in depth a relatively large Italian network of pro-separatist fighters and direct supporters, including far-right militants, and analyzes their profiles and mobilization dynamics, drawing upon the literature on social movements and contentious politics. Mast cells are tissue-resident immune cells strategically located in different compartments of the normal human heart (the myocardium, pericardium, aortic valve, and close to nerves) as well as in atherosclerotic plaques. Cardiac mast cells produce a broad spectrum of vasoactive and proinflammatory mediators, which have potential roles in inflammation, angiogenesis, lymphangiogenesis, tissue remodelling, and fibrosis. Mast cells release preformed mediators (e.g. histamine, tryptase, and chymase) and de novo synthesized mediators (e.g. cysteinyl leukotriene C4 and prostaglandin D2), as well as cytokines and chemokines, which can activate different resident immune cells (e.g. macrophages) and structural cells (e.g. fibroblasts and endothelial cells) in the human heart and aorta. The transcriptional profiles of various mast cell populations highlight their potential heterogeneity and distinct gene and proteome expression. Mast cell plasticity and heterogeneity enable these cells the potential for performing different, even opposite, functions in response to changing tissue contexts. Human cardiac mast cells display significant differences compared with mast cells isolated from other organs. These characteristics make cardiac mast cells intriguing, given their dichotomous potential roles of inducing or protecting against cardiovascular diseases. Identification of cardiac mast cell subpopulations represents a prerequisite for understanding their potential multifaceted roles in health and disease. Several new drugs specifically targeting human mast cell activation are under development or in clinical trials. Purpose: To describe our clinical experience of endovascular exclusion of popliteal artery aneurysms using the new self-expandable covered stent SOLARIS® (Scitech Medical, Brazil), and to report its results in the context of surgical and endovascular treatment of popliteal artery aneurysms. Case report: Among 20 popliteal artery aneurysms undergoing open or endovascular repair in 2022 and 2023, two patients were successfully treated with the Solaris stentgraft. Both patients had a patent popliteal artery and three run-off vessels. After stentgraft implantation, they received dual antiplatelet therapy for three months and they were followed-up with Duplex scan and clinical evaluation after three months, and every six months thereafter. After three months, one Solaris stentgraft had complete thrombosis and the other ruptured, requiring surgical removal. No complications were observed among the other aneurysms treated with open repair or with the Viabahn® stentgraft. Conclusions: Endovascular treatment of popliteal aneurysms with the new covered self-expandable stent Solaris resulted in severe complications in the two cases reported, and in worse short-term outcomes than endovascular repair with Viabahn® and open repair. Some species are severely affected by global change, whereas others can survive or even thrive under the same circumstances. Species with more flexible behaviours can better cope with changes in the environment than those with more stereotyped behaviours; therefore, knowing the limits of behavioural flexibility is critical to predict their responses to global change.Livestock grazing is the most widespread land use in deserts and a major driver of vegetation change. In turn, unpredictable and sporadic rainfall can increase the negative impact of grazing. The interaction of both factors is more relevant nowadays as a consequence of climate change.In the central Monte desert, cattle grazing and inter‐annual variations in rainfall reduce the abundance of seeds preferentially consumed by granivorous animals. There we analysed the dietary flexibility of the specialist harvester ant Pheidole spininodis in response to inter‐annual variations in seed availability during four consecutive years at sites with contrasting grazing pressure.Pheidole spininodis expanded its diet by including other items and decreasing seed consumption as seed availability decreased over the years, but this response did not differ between grazing conditions, probably because the drastic reduction in seed abundance at the regional scale blurred the contrast between grazed and ungrazed sites.Our results highlight the potential dietary flexibility of a specialist species that, under adverse conditions, can modify its diet. Future studies should investigate whether these changes in the diet of P. spininodis in contexts of low resource availability may have negative effects on its survival, as previously reported for other granivorous species. Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP), mainly expressed by epithelial cells, plays a central role in asthma. In humans, TSLP exists in two variants: the long form TSLP (lfTSLP) and a shorter TSLP isoform (sfTSLP). Macrophages (HLMs) and mast cells (HLMCs) are in close proximity in the human lung and play key roles in asthma. We evaluated the early proteolytic effects of tryptase and chymase released by HLMCs on TSLP by mass spectrometry. We also investigated whether TSLP and its fragments generated by these enzymes induce angiogenic factor release from HLMs. Mass spectrometry (MS) allowed the identification of TSLP cleavage sites caused by tryptase and chymase. Recombinant human TSLP treated with recombinant tryptase showed the production of 1-97 and 98-132 fragments. Recombinant chymase treatment of TSLP generated two peptides, 1-36 and 37-132. lfTSLP induced the release of VEGF-A, the most potent angiogenic factor, from HLMs. By contrast, the four TSLP fragments generated by tryptase and chymase failed to activate HLMs. Long-term TSLP incubation with furin generated two peptides devoid of activating property on HLMs. These results unveil an intricate interplay between mast cell-derived proteases and TSLP. Mixing controls the fate of any solute entering porous media. Hence, an understanding of the involved processes is essential for assessing subsurface contamination and planning for its protection. However, the three‐dimensional mechanisms dominating solute mixing in the presence of several fluid phases in the pore space, and their dependency on phase saturation degree (fraction of the pore volume occupied by a phase) are unknown. Here, we analyze solute mixing in unsaturated porous media at the pore scale using X‐ray micro‐tomography performed with synchrotron radiation at unprecedented temporal and spatial resolutions for such an investigation. Transport experiments through a synthetic, sand‐like porous medium, followed in 4D using a contrast solution, are performed at different liquid phase saturation degrees. The results reveal larger solute's front deformation at lower saturation, which translates into an enhanced mixing with time. Using different topological indexes, defined based on a description of the liquid phase geometry and of the resulting hydrodynamics, we show an increase in the spatial convergence of flow streamlines at lower saturation, which, in turn, leads to a strengthened helical flow inside the liquid phase. Consequently, this increases the number of shear‐ and vorticity‐dominated deformation regions, as characterized by larger negative and positive Q‐criterion values, respectively. These findings represent a major step toward understanding the control of both saturation and the system's heterogeneity on solute mixing, essential, among others, to assess reactivity in porous media. A combination of synchrotron 4D X‐ray micro‐tomography experiments with very high temporal and spatial resolutions, advanced 3D image analysis, and numerical simulations of flow, allowed to reveal an enhancement of the spatial convergence of flow streamlines at lower liquid phase content, that is, at a lower fraction of the entire pore volume that is occupied by the liquid phase. This increases the number of shear‐ and vorticity‐dominated flow regions, inducing an overall larger solute front deformation with time and rendering mixing more efficient. These findings can highly contribute to the assessment of mixing and reactions in natural porous media. The study of diet and its relationship with available resources allows us to evaluate how species that differ in their degree of ecological flexibility respond to natural and anthropogenic variations that affect food availability. In the central Monte desert, extensive cattle ranching reduces the abundance of grass seeds, the most consumed and preferred food by the harvester ants Pogonomyrmex inermis Forel, 1914, Pogonomyrmex mendozanus (Cuezzo & Claver, 2009), and Pogonomyrmex propinqua (Johnson, 2021). We studied the diet of these species in grazed and ungrazed habitats over 4 years, including a period during which the abundance of grass seeds naturally decreased. We expected that ants would modify their diet in grazed sites and that the response would be different among species depending on their ecological flexibility. The three species presented a mainly granivorous diet in both grazing conditions and during the 4 years, but showed differences in the breadth of their diet. Pogonomyrmex inermis and Pogonomyrmex propinqua always had a narrow diet that consisted mainly of grass seeds, while Pogonomyrmex mendozanus modified its diet to include higher proportions of shrub seeds and other items when the abundance of grass seed decreased. Among micro-scale imaging technologies of materials, X-ray micro-computed tomography has evolved as most popular choice, even though it is restricted to limited field-of-views and long acquisition times. With recent progress in small-angle X-ray scattering these downsides of conventional absorption-based computed tomography have been overcome, allowing complete analysis of the micro-architecture for samples in the dimension of centimetres in a matter of minutes. These advances have been triggered through improved X-ray optical elements and acquisition methods. However, it has not yet been shown how to effectively transfer this small-angle X-ray scattering data into a numerical model capable of accurately predicting the actual material properties. Here, a method is presented to numerically predict mechanical properties of a carbon fibre-reinforced polymer based on imaging data with a voxel-size of 100 μm corresponding to approximately fifteen times the fibre diameter. This extremely low resolution requires a completely new way of constructing the material's constitutive law based on the fibre orientation, the X-ray scattering anisotropy, and the X-ray scattering intensity. The proposed method combining the advances in X-ray imaging and the presented material model opens for an accurate tensile modulus prediction for volumes of interest between three to six orders of magnitude larger than those conventional carbon fibre orientation image-based models can cover. The seismic cycle of repeated earthquake failure requires that faults regain frictional strength during the interseismic phase, when the fault is locked or undergoing quasi-static creep. Fault healing plays a central role in determining earthquake stress drop, recurrence interval, elastic radiation frequency and other source parameters. In particular, the longer a fault remains quasi-stationary, the stronger it becomes and the larger the potential stress drop can be for the next event. Here, we address the role of shear strain and strain localization on fault healing and healing rate. We performed slide-hold-slide friction experiments on quartz gouge in the double-direct shear configuration for shear strain up to 25 and hold times from 10 to 1000 s. The results show that both healing and healing rate increase nonlinearly with increasing shear strain. Frictional healing scales with volumetric strain within the laboratory fault zone. Using the volumetric strain upon reshear as a proxy for strain localization, we demonstrate that the capacity of a fault to heal is directly proportional to shear bandwidth and degree of strain localization. The more the deformation is localized, the higher are the healing and healing rate, and thus, the fault strength. Our data provide a framework for understanding variations in fault strength over the seismic cycle and the role of brecciation and strain localization on spatiotemporal variations in fault strength. Background The Chloranthaceae comprise four extant genera (Hedyosmum , Ascarina , Chloranthus and Sarcandra), all with simple flowers. Molecular phylogenetics indicates that the Chloranthaceae diverged very early in angiosperm evolution, although how they are related to eudicots, magnoliids, monocots and Ceratophyllum is uncertain. Fossil pollen similar to that of Ascarina and Hedyosmum has long been recognized in the Early Cretaceous, but over the last four decades evidence of extinct Chloranthaceae based on other types of fossils has expanded dramatically and contributes significantly to understanding the evolution of the family. Scope Studies of fossils from the Cretaceous, especially mesofossils of Early Cretaceous age from Portugal and eastern North America, recognized diverse flowers, fruits, seeds, staminate inflorescences and stamens of extinct chloranthoids. These early chloranthoids include forms related to extant Hedyosmum and also to the Ascarina , Chloranthus and Sarcandra clade. In the Late Cretaceous there are several occurrences of distinctive fossil androecia related to extant Chloranthus. The rich and still expanding Cretaceous record of Chloranthaceae contrasts with a very sparse Cenozoic record, emphasizing that the four extant genera are likely to be relictual, although speciation within the genera might have occurred in relatively recent times. In this study, we describe three new genera of Early Cretaceous chloranthoids and summarize current knowledge on the extinct diversity of the group. Conclusions The evolutionary lineage that includes extant Chloranthaceae is diverse and abundantly represented in Early Cretaceous mesofossil floras that provide some of the earliest evidence of angiosperm reproductive structures. Extinct chloranthoids, some of which are clearly in the Chloranthaceae crown group, fill some of the morphological gaps that currently separate the extant genera, help to illuminate how some of the unusual features of extant Chloranthaceae evolved and suggest that Chloranthaceae are of disproportionate importance for a more refined understanding of ecology and phylogeny of early angiosperm diversification. Tectonic fault zones are subject to normal stress variations with a wide range of spatio‐temporal scales. Stress perturbations cover a wide range of frequencies and amplitudes from high frequency seismic waves generated by earthquakes to low frequency transients associated with solid Earth tides. These perturbations can reactivate critically stressed faults and trigger earthquakes. Here, we describe lab experiments to illuminate the physics of such changes in friction and the mechanics of earthquake triggering and fault reactivation. Friction tests were done in a double direct shear configuration for conditions near the stability transition from stable to unstable motion. We studied simulated fault gouge composed of quartz powder and conducted experiments at reference normal stress from 10 to 13.5 MPa. After shearing to steady state sliding, we applied sinusoidal normal stress oscillations of amplitude 0.5–2 MPa, and period of 0.5–50 s. We performed numerical simulations using measured values of rate and state friction (RSF) parameters to assess our data. Our results show that low frequency stress oscillations cause a Coulomb‐like response of shear strength that transitions from stable slip to slow lab earthquakes as frequency increases. At the critical frequency predicted by RSF we observe periodic stick‐slip behavior. Perturbations of high amplitude and short period weaken the fault, while lower amplitudes strengthen the fault. We find that a modified RSF formulation is able to accurately match our laboratory data. Our findings highlight the complex effects of stress perturbations on fault strength and the mode of fault slip. To investigate this phenomenon, we conducted laboratory experiments using quartz powder to simulate a fault zone. During the experiment, we subjected the fault to sinusoidal stress oscillations with various amplitudes (0.5–2 MPa) and periods (0.5–50 s). Our results show that faults, under critical conditions, exhibit a variety of slip behaviors depending on the oscillation amplitude and frequency. We found that stress perturbations with high amplitude and short period are able to weaken the fault and generate fast instabilities, while lower amplitudes strengthen the fault. To accurately explain our laboratory findings, we developed a rate and state friction formulation, which successfully matched our experimental results. In conclusion, our study sheds light on the complex effects of stress perturbations on fault strength and the mode of fault slip. Rusts of the genus Puccinia are wheat pathogens. Stem (black; Sr), leaf (brown; Lr), and stripe (yellow; Yr) rust, caused by Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici (Pgt), Puccinia triticina (Pt), and Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), can occur singularly or in mixed infections and pose a threat to wheat production globally in terms of the wide dispersal of their urediniospores. The development of durable resistant cultivars is the most sustainable method for controlling them. Many resistance genes have been identified, characterized, genetically mapped, and cloned; several quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for resistance have also been described. However, few studies have considered resistance to all three rust pathogens in a given germplasm. A genome-wide association study (GWAS) was carried out to identify loci associated with resistance to the three rusts in a collection of 230 inbred lines of tetraploid wheat (128 of which were Triticum turgidum ssp. durum) genotyped with SNPs. The wheat panel was phenotyped in the field and subjected to growth chamber experiments across different countries (USA, Mexico, Morocco, Italy, and Spain); then, a mixed linear model (MLM) GWAS was performed. In total, 9, 34, and 5 QTLs were identified in the A and B genomes for resistance to Pgt, Pt, and Pst, respectively, at both the seedling and adult plant stages. Only one QTL on chromosome 4A was found to be effective against all three rusts at the seedling stage. Six QTLs conferring resistance to two rust species at the adult plant stage were mapped: three on chromosome 1B and one each on 5B, 7A, and 7B. Fifteen QTLs conferring seedling resistance to two rusts were mapped: five on chromosome 2B, three on 7B, two each on 5B and 6A, and one each on 1B, 2A, and 7A. Most of the QTLs identified were specific for a single rust species or race of a species. Candidate genes were identified within the confidence intervals of a QTL conferring resistance against at least two rust species by using the annotations of the durum (cv. ‘Svevo’) and wild emmer wheat (‘Zavitan’) reference genomes. Pore fluids are ubiquitous throughout the lithosphere and are commonly invoked as the cause of induced seismicity and slow earthquakes. We perform lab experiments to address these questions for drained fault conditions and low pore pressure. We shear simulated faults at effective normal stress σn′ $\left({\sigma }_{n}^{\prime }\right)$ of 20 MPa and pore pressures Pp from 1 to 4 MPa. We document the full range of lab earthquake behaviors from slow slip to elasto‐dynamic rupture and show that slow slip can be explained by the slip rate dependence of the critical rheologic stiffness without dilatancy hardening or other fluid effects. Our fault permeabilities ranges from 10−18 to 10−17 m2 with an initial porosity of 0.1 and estimated fluid diffusion time ≈1 s. Slow slip and quasi‐dynamic fault motion may arise from high Pp at higher pressures but dilatancy strengthening is not a general requirement. Here, we describe experiments on granular faults that produce the full spectrum of slip observed in nature. We measure the mechanical and hydraulic behavior of the faults and determine that frictional and fluid‐driven processes occur in conjunction. Importantly, we demonstrate that frictional processes are sufficient to explain slow‐slip when fluid migration is not inhibited. We demonstrate that for low pore fluid pressures, the full transition from slow slip to dynamic rupture events can be explained as a frictional effect via the critical rheologic stiffness. Third- and fourth-generation synchrotron light sources with high fluxes and beam energies enable the use of innovative X-ray translucent experimental apparatus. These experimental devices access geologically relevant conditions whilst enabling in situ characterization using the spatial and temporal resolutions accessible at imaging beamlines. Here, Heitt Mjölnir is introduced, a heated miniature triaxial rig based on the design of Mjölnir, but covering a wider temperature range and larger sample volume at similar pressure capacities. This device is designed to investigate coupled thermal, chemical, hydraulic and mechanical processes from grain to centimetre scales using cylindrical samples of 10 mm × 20 mm (diameter × length). Heitt Mjölnir can simultaneously reach confining (hydraulic) pressures of 30 MPa and 500 MPa of axial stress with independently controlled sample pore fluid pressure < 30 MPa. This internally heated apparatus operates to temperatures up to 573 K with a minimal vertical thermal gradient in the sample of <0.3 K mm-1. This new apparatus has been deployed in operando studies at the TOMCAT (Swiss Light Source), I12 JEEP (Diamond Light Source) and PSICHE' (Synchrotron SOLEIL) beamlines for 4D X-ray microtomography with scan intervals of a few minutes. Heitt Mjölnir is portable and modular, allowing a wide range of 4D characterizations of low-grade metamorphism and deformational processes. It enables spatially and temporally resolved fluid-rock interaction studies at conditions of crustal reservoirs and is suitable for characterization of material properties in geothermal, carbonation or subsurface gas storage applications. This study investigates the effect on the demand of pasta following the introduction of the mandatory country of origin labeling for wheat in Italy. This regulation opened a debate between producers, farmers, and consumer organizations on the opportunity posed by this policy. Using an online survey with a choice experiment conducted on 551 Italian pasta consumers, we demonstrated that consumers strongly approve this mandatory policy. This support suggests that place of wheat origin is relevant in driving the pasta choices of consumers and that they are willing to pay a premium price for pasta made with Italian wheat. Moreover, the extra utility that the consumers receive from purchasing pasta made with locally produced wheat is due by their support for the farmers and the agriculture sector [EconLit Citations: D12, Q13, Q18].
