Commercial scale decarbonization through carbon capture and storage may likely involve many CO2 storage projects located in close proximity. The close proximity could raise concerns over caprock integrity associated with reservoir pressure buildup and interference among adjacent projects. Commercial-scale injection will also require large prospective CO2 storage resource and high injectivity in the targeted storage formations. To accommodate the need for both large resource and high injectivity, project operators could consider injecting CO2 into a stacked sequence of formations. This analysis investigates the benefits of injecting CO2 into a vertically stacked sequence of saline formations, over injecting the same amount of CO2 into a single saline formation, in addressing these challenges. Our analysis shows that injecting into the stacked sequence mitigates the extent of pressure buildup among the stacked formations, while still achieving the same or greater target CO2 storage volumes. Among cases modeled, the resulting pressure buildup front is most reduced when each storage site distributes injection volumes over several wells, each of which injects a portion of the total CO2 mass across the stacked sequence. This favorable case not only results in the smallest CO2 aerial footprint, but also shows the largest reduction in the pressure buildup at the top of perforation at the injection wells (upwards of approximately 46% compared to the single-formation storage), the result of which is crucial to maintain caprock integrity. Current research on deep learning-based intelligent landslide detection modeling has focused primarily on improving and innovating model structures. However, the impact of terrain factors and data fusion methods on the prediction accuracy of models remains underexplored. To clarify the contribution of terrain information to landslide detection modeling, 1022 landslide samples compiled from Planet remote sensing images and DEM data in the Sichuan–Tibet area. We investigate the impact of digital elevation models (DEMs), remote sensing image fusion, and feature fusion techniques on the landslide prediction accuracy of models. First, we analyze the role of DEM data in landslide modeling using models such as Fast_SCNN, the SegFormer, and the Swin Transformer. Next, we use a dual-branch network for feature fusion to assess different data fusion methods. We then conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses of the modeling uncertainty, including examining the validation set accuracy, test set confusion matrices, prediction probability distributions, segmentation results, and Grad-CAM results. The findings indicate the following: (1) model predictions become more reliable when fusing DEM data with remote sensing images, enhancing the robustness of intelligent landslide detection modeling; (2) the results obtained through dual-branch network data feature fusion lead to slightly greater accuracy than those from data channel fusion; and (3) under consistent data conditions, deep convolutional neural network models and attention mechanism models show comparable capabilities in predicting landslides. Epilithic green algae play crucial roles in aquatic ecosystems. While traditional morphological approaches have provided valuable insights into these algae, their limitations in resolving cryptic species and fully capturing the extent of diversity have impeded a comprehensive understanding. The diversity and phylogenetic relationships of these algae largely remain unexplored. In the present study, single molecular real-time (SMRT) sequencing of the full-length 18S rDNA was employed to investigate the molecular diversity and phylogenetic relationships of epilithic green algae in biodiversity conservation hotspots. A total of 79 709 algal reads were generated, yielding 169 amplicon sequence variants (ASVs) from 21 epilithic riverine green algal assemblages classified in the Ulvophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Trebouxiophyceae. The 10 families in which the greatest number of unique ASVs (diversity) were observed were the Ulvellaceae, Protosiphonaceae, Chlorococcaceae, Watanabeaceae, Chlorellaceae, Neochloridaceae, Chaetophoraceae, Hazeniaceae, Tupiellaceae and Scenedesmaceae. Unique clades formed by a substantial number of sequences of green algae were detected within the Ulvales/Ulotrichales (Ulvophyceae) and the Chlorococcaceae/Protosiphonaceae (Chlorophyceae). This study has unveiled hidden diversity within epilithic green algae, expanding our knowledge of their evolutionary relationships and providing fundamental data for taxonomic investigations within this group, as well as contributing to the assessment of algal diversity in biodiversity conservation hotspots. This study suggests that these epilithic green algal assemblages may be significantly more diverse than previously recognized, but we acknowledge the limited ecological and temporal scope of our sampling effort and the resulting effects on which taxa are identified, warranting further research. Cephaleuros species are well-known as plant pathogens that cause red rust or algae spot diseases in many economically cultivated plants that grow in shady and humid environments. Despite their prevalence, the adaptive evolution of these pathogens remains poorly understood. We sequenced and characterized three Cephaleuros (Cephaleuros lagerheimii, Cephaleuros diffusus, and Cephaleuros virescens) chloroplast genomes, and compared them with seven previously reported chloroplast genomes. The chloroplast sequences of C. lagerheimii, C. diffusus, and C. virescens were 480,613 bp, 383,846 bp, and 472,444 bp in length, respectively. These chloroplast genomes encoded 94 genes, including 27 tRNA genes, 3 rRNA genes, and 64 protein-coding genes. Comparative analysis uncovered that the variation in genome size was principally due to the length of intergenic spacer sequences, followed by introns. Furthermore, several highly variable regions (trnY-GTA, trnL-TAG, petA, psbT, trnD-GTC, trnL-TAA, ccsA, petG, psaA, psaB, rps11, rps2, and rps14) were identified. Codon bias analysis revealed that the codon usage pattern of Cephaleuros is predominantly shaped by natural selection. Additionally, six chloroplast protein-coding genes (atpF, chlN, psaA, psaB, psbA, and rbcL) were determined to be under positive selection, suggesting they may play a vital roles in the adaptation of Cephaleuros to low-light intensity habitats. Members of the family Scenedesmaceae are some of the most common algal taxa in inland ecosystems, and they are widely distributed in freshwaters, aerial, and sub-aerial habitats. With the continuous updating of methods, the classic morphological taxonomy of this family needs to be revised. In recent years, many genera of Scenedesmaceae have been established via the use of molecular methods. The phylogenetic relationships within Scenedesmaceae were analyzed using different molecular markers and morphological data, and the new freshwater genus Coccoidesmus Wang, Hou et Liu gen. nov. was described. Two new species in this genus were also described. Phylogenetic analysis based on tufA genes revealed that the new genus formed an independent clade closely related to Comasiella. However, these two genera are characterized by significant morphological differences in colony arrangement and cell shape. The chloroplast genome of the type species was assembled and annotated, and analyses of genome structure and sequences were conducted. Background: Leaf morphology plays a crucial role in photosynthetic efficiency and yield potential in crops. Cigar tobacco plants, which are derived from common tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.), possess special leaf characteristics including thin and delicate leaves with few visible veins, making it a good system for studying the genetic basis of leaf morphological characters. Results: In this study, GWAS and QTL mapping were simultaneously performed using a natural population containing 185 accessions collected worldwide and an F2 population consisting of 240 individuals, respectively. A total of 26 QTLs related to leaf morphological traits were mapped in the F2 population at three different developmental stages, and some QTL intervals were repeatedly detected for different traits and at different developmental stages. Among the 206 significant SNPs identified in the natural population using GWAS, several associated with the leaf thickness phenotype were co-mapped via QTL mapping. By analyzing linkage disequilibrium and transcriptome data from different tissues combined with gene functional annotations, 7 candidate genes from the co-mapped region were identified as the potential causative genes associated with leaf thickness. Conclusions: These results presented a valuable cigar tobacco resource showing the genetic diversity regarding its leaf morphological traits at different developmental stages. It also provides valuable information for novel genes and molecular markers that will be useful for further functional verification and for molecular breeding of leaf morphological traits in crops in the future. Cellular senescence significantly affects the proliferative and differentiation capacities of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Identifying key regulators of senescence and exploring potential intervention strategies, including drug-based approaches, are active areas of research. In this context, S -adenosyl- l -methionine (SAM), a critical intermediate in sulfur amino acid metabolism, emerges as a promising candidate for mitigating MSC senescence. In a hydrogen peroxide-induced MSC aging model (100 μM for 2 hours), SAM (50 and 100 μM) was revealed to alleviate the senescence of MSCs, and also attenuated the level of reactive oxygen species and enhanced the adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation in senescent MSCs. In a premature aging mouse model (subcutaneously injected with 150 mg/kg/day d -galactose in the neck and back for 7 weeks), SAM (30 mg/kg/day by gavage for 5 weeks) was shown to delay the overall aging process while increasing the number and thickness of bone trabeculae in the distal femur. Mechanistically, activation of PI3K/AKT signaling and increased phosphorylation of forkhead box O3 (FOXO3a) was proved to be associated with the antisenescence role of SAM. These findings highlight that the PI3K/AKT/FOXO3a axis in MSCs could play a crucial role in MSCs senescence and suggest that SAM may be a potential therapeutic drug for MSCs senescence and related diseases. Background: Some patients with COVID-19 rapidly develop respiratory failure or mortality, underscoring the necessity for early identification of those prone to severe illness. Numerous studies focus on clinical and lab traits, but only few attend to chest computed tomography. The current study seeks to numerically quantify pulmonary lesions using early-phase CT scans calculated through artificial intelligence algorithms in conjunction with clinical and laboratory helps clinicians to early identify the development of severe illness and death in a group of COVID-19 patients. Methods: From December 15, 2022, to January 30, 2023, 191 confirmed COVID-19 patients admitted to Xinhua Hospital Affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine were consecutively enrolled. All patients underwent chest CT scans and serum tests within 48 hours prior to admission. Variables significantly linked to critical illness or mortality in univariate analysis were subjected to multivariate logistic regression models post collinearity assessment. Adjusted odds ratio, 95% confidence intervals, sensitivity, specificity, Youden index, receiver-operator-characteristics (ROC) curves, and area under the curve (AUC) were computed for predicting severity and in-hospital mortality. Results: Multivariate logistic analysis revealed that myoglobin (OR = 1.003, 95% CI 1.001– 1.005), APACHE II score (OR = 1.387, 95% CI 1.216– 1.583), and the infected CT region percentage (OR = 113.897, 95% CI 4.939– 2626.496) independently correlated with in-hospital COVID-19 mortality. Prealbumin stood as an independent safeguarding factor (OR = 0.965, 95% CI 0.947– 0.984). As one of the important biodiversity conservation areas in China, the ecosystem in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River is fragile, and is particularly sensitive to global changes. To reveal the diversity pattern of phytoplankton, the metabarcode sequencing was employed in the Medog section of the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River during autumn 2019 in present study. The phytoplankton assemblies can be significantly divided into the main stem and the tributaries; there are significant differences in the phytoplankton biomass, alpha and beta diversity between the main stem and the tributaries. While both the main stem and the tributaries are affected by dispersal limitation, the phytoplankton assemblages in the entire lower reaches are primarily influenced by heterogeneous selection. Community dissimilarity and assembly process were significantly correlated with turbidity, electrical conductivity, and nitrogen nutrition. The tributaries were the main source of the increase in phytoplankton diversity in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. Such diversity pattern of phytoplankton in the lower reach may be caused by the special habitat in Medog, that is, the excessive flow velocity, and the significant spatial heterogeneity in physical and chemical factors between stem and tributaries. Based on the results and conclusions obtained in present study, continuous long-term monitoring is essential to assess and quantify the impact of global changes on phytoplankton. Featured Application: The methodology developed in this study provides a robust way of tracking down specific events in hydraulic fracturing. The innovative workflow produced an effective diagnostics tool. Ultimately, the featured event detection and diagnostics can make it possible to find optimal solutions for oil/gas well completion design, spacing and infill, production management, and wellbore protection. The primary objective of the study was development of a machine learning (ML)-based workflow for fracture hit ("frac hit") detection and monitoring using shale oil-field data such as drilling surveys, production history (oil and produced water), pressure, and fracking start time and duration records. The ML method takes advantage of long short-term memory (LSTM) and multilayer perceptron (MLP) neural networks to identify the frac hits due to hydraulic communication between the fracking child well(s) and the producing parent well(s) within the same pad (intra-pad interaction) and/or on different pads (inter-pad interaction). It utilizes time series of pressure and production data from within a pad and from adjacent pads. The workflow can capture time variable features of frac hits when the model architecture is deep and wide enough, with enough trainable parameters for deep learning and feature extraction, as demonstrated in this paper by using training and testing subsets of the field data from selected neighboring pads with over a couple of hundred wells. Stigeoclonium is a genus of green algae that is widely distributed in freshwater habitats around the world. The genus comprises species with variously developed prostrates and erect systems of uniseriate branched filaments and grows attached to a wide range of different surfaces. It holds significant promise for applications in water quality indicators, sewage treatment, and the development of high-value-added products. Nevertheless, our comprehension of Stigeoclonium remains unclear and perplexing, particularly regarding its fundamental systematic taxonomy. Recent molecular analyses have revealed that the morphologically well-defined genus Stigeoclonium is polyphyletic and requires taxonomic revision. Phylogenetic analysis based on a single molecular marker and limited samples is insufficient to address the polyphyletic nature of Stigeoclonium. In the present study, 34 out of 45 strains of Stigeoclonium were newly acquired from China. Alongside the morphological data, a concatenated dataset of three markers (18S rDNA + ITS2 + tufA) was utilized to determine their molecular phylogeny. The phylogenetic analysis successfully resolved the broadly defined Stigeoclonium into three robustly supported clades (Stigeoclonim tenue clade, S. farctum clade, and S. helveticum clade). The morphological characteristics assessment results showed that the cell type of the main axis-producing branch, considered a crucial morphological characteristic of the Stigeoclonium taxonomy, did not accurately reflect the real phylogeny of the genus. A new taxonomical classification of the genus Stigeoclonium was proposed based on zoospores' germination types, which aligned well with the phylogenetic topologies. Species where zoospores showed erect germination (S. helveticum clade) formed a distinct monophyletic clade, clearly separated from the other two clades, with zoospores showing prostrate germination or pseudo-erect germination. Consequently, a new genus, Pseudostigeoclonium gen. nov., is suggested to include all species in the broadly defined Stigeoclonium with zoospores with erect germination. The taxonomic diversity is supported by distinctive morphological differences and phylogenetic divergence within the broadly defined Stigeoclonium identified in this study. Further evaluation of the genus Stigeoclonium is necessary, especially via examining additional specimens and re-evaluating morphological characters under precisely defined laboratory conditions. Background: The cloud-penetrating and fog-penetrating capability of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) give it the potential for application in forest fire progress monitoring; however, the low extraction accuracy and significant salt-and-pepper noise in SAR remote sensing mapping of the burned area are problems. Aims: This paper provides a method for accurately extracting the burned area based on fully exploiting the changes in multiple different dimensional feature parameters of dual-polarised SAR images before and after a fire. Methods: This paper describes forest fire progress monitoring using dual-polarisation SAR images combined with multi-scale segmentation and unsupervised classification. We first constructed polarisation feature and texture feature datasets using multi-scene Sentinel-1 images. A multi-scale segmentation algorithm was then used to generate objects to suppress the salt-and-pepper noise, followed by an unsupervised classification method to extract the burned area. Key results: The accuracy of burned area extraction in this paper is 91.67%, an improvement of 33.70% compared to the pixel-based classification results. Conclusions: Compared with the pixel-based method, our method effectively suppresses the salt-and-pepper noise and improves the SAR burned area extraction accuracy. Implications: The fire monitoring method using SAR images provides a reference for extracting the burned area under continuous cloud or smoke cover. Phytoplankton are the main primary producers in aquatic ecosystems and play an important role in food web and geochemical cycles. Its diversity, community structure, and assembly process are influenced by several factors. Alpine lake ecosystems are relatively weak and extremely sensitive to global climate change. However, the impact of climate change on phytoplankton in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau lakes and their responses are still unclear. In this study, we analyzed the diversity, environmental drivers, and assembly process of phytoplankton community in the central QTP lakes. The phytoplankton of these lakes can be primarily distinguished into freshwater and brackish types, with significant differences in species diversity and community dissimilarity. Both shared nearly same key environmental factors that significantly affecting phytoplankton such as EC, and brackish lakes were also positively correlative with TN. Stochastic process was predominant in phytoplankton assembly. Additionally, freshwater and brackish lakes were dominated by dispersal limitation and heterogeneous selection respectively. Alpine lakes had significant EC thresholds, and their diversity and assembly processes changed significantly around the thresholds. The present findings have important implications for understanding and predicting the response of lake phytoplankton communities to climate change and for making decisions to protect the ecological resources of alpine lakes. During our investigation of diatom biodiversity in Xizang, two species exhibited unique morphological features discriminative from all previously known genera. Herein we describe these two species and describe as new the genus, Spargeria gen. nov. The new genus features narrow to wide rectangular valves, narrow valve mantles, filiform raphe branches that occur on the valve face only, terminal raphe fissures straight or slightly deflected to same side, bow-tie shaped central areas, chambered striae present on the valve face only, being absent from the mantle, wider striae near the axial area and very narrow near the margin, multiseriate striae with small and round areolae that are occluded externally. Comparatively, Spargeria zhuii sp. nov. has larger and robust valves, radiate striae, with one divergent stria near the apices, while Spargeria chenia sp. nov. is smaller, with narrow valves, striae slightly radiate in the middle, becoming convergent or parallel near apices. This new genus belongs to the family Pinnulariaceae, and it was compared and contrasted with other genera of this family. Background: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) accounts for about 15% of primary liver cancer, and the incidence rate has been rising in recent years. Surgical resection is the best treatment for ICC, but the 5-year survival rate is less than 30%. ICC signature genes are crucial for the early diagnosis of ICC, so it is especially important to find its signature genes and therapeutic drug. Here, we studied that bufalin targeting CAMKK2 promotes mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibits the occurrence and metastasis of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma through Wnt/β-catenin signal pathway. Methods: IC50 of bufalin in ICC cells was determined by CCK8 and invasive and migratory abilities were verified by wound healing, cell cloning, transwell and Western blot. IF and IHC verified the expression of CAMKK2 between ICC patients and normal subjects. BLI and pull-down demonstrated the binding ability of bufalin and CAMKK2. Bioinformatics predicted whether CAMKK2 was related to the Wnt/β-catenin pathway. SKL2001, an activator of β-catenin, verified whether bufalin acted through this pathway. In vitro and in vivo experiments verified whether overexpression of CAMKK2 affects the proliferative and migratory effects of ICC. Transmission electron microscopy verified mitochondrial integrity. Associated Ca2+ levels verified the biological effects of ANXA2 on ICC. Results: It was found that bufalin inhibited the proliferation and migration of ICC, and CAMKK2 was highly expressed in ICC, and its high expression was positively correlated with poor prognosis.CAMKK2 is a direct target of bufalin, and is associated with the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which was dose-dependently decreased after bufalin treatment. In vitro and in vivo experiments verified that CAMKK2 overexpression promoted ICC proliferation and migration, and bufalin reversed this effect. CAMKK2 was associated with Ca2+, and changes in Ca2+ content induced changes in the protein content of ANXA2, which was dose-dependently decreasing in cytoplasmic ANXA2 and dose-dependently increasing in mitochondrial ANXA2 after bufalin treatment. In CAMKK2 overexpressing cells, ANXA2 was knocked down, and we found that reversal of CAMKK2 overexpression-induced enhancement of ICC proliferation and migration after siANXA2. Conclusions: Our results suggest that bufalin targeting CAMKK2 promotes mitochondrial dysfunction and inhibits the proliferation and migration of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma through Wnt/β-catenin signal pathway. The green algal genus Aphanochaete consists of species with uniseriate, simple, or irregularly branched, prostrate, and erect filaments, with cells bearing unsheathed unicellular hairs with or without bulbous bases. In this study, 12 strains of Aphanochaete were isolated and successfully cultured and their phylogenetic relationships were determined using the morphological data, along with 18 S rDNA and a concatenated dataset of four markers (18 S + 5.8 S + ITS2 + partial 28 S rDNA). Within the genus Aphanochaete, three types of zoospore germination and two types of unicellular hairs distinguished all the clades of this genus, which was consistent with molecular phylogeny and the compensatory case changes in ITS2 secondary structures. Aphanochaete xiantaoensis was determined to be a new species owing to its unique unipolar zoospore germination, which clearly differed from bipolar or cruciate zoospore germination in other species. While molecular phylogeny indicated that the number of hairs per cell was the poor taxonomic characteristics, we propose to list A. polychaete as a synonym of A. repens. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that different species within the genus Aphanochaete might have evolved from bipolar zoospore germination toward cruciate and unipolar zoospore germination. Makinoella Okada is a genus of coccoid green algae belonging to the family Oocystaceae with typical morphological characteristics. Reports to date included only one type species. Since the genus is rarely reported, there is a lack of taxonomic research. In this study, 17 strains of this genus were collected from several different places in China, and their taxonomic studies were conducted based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic analysis. The phylogenetic results based on the analysis of ITS, chloroplast genes rbcL and tufA showed that the genus was divided into two branches. One of the branches comprised newly collected algae. Compensatory base changes (CBCs) and hemi-compensatory base changes (hemi-CBCs) within the secondary structure of the ITS-2 confirmed the branches as two species. Compared with the type species of Makinoella tosaensis, the cell size of this new branch was only about 50%, and included 2–4 colonial cells. Therefore, based on the smaller cell size, simpler colony composition, independent phylogenetic position and CBCs and hemi-CBCs, we suggest that the new clade should be designated as a new taxon of Makinoella, namely Makinoella parva. Among the four molecular markers using in this study, the rbcL and newly introduced ITS are recommended for species separation, which can help further studies to revise the species and generic concepts of the family. Pixel Offset Tracking (POT) for optical imagery is a widely used method for extracting large-scale ground deformation. However, the influence of imaging parameters on the measurement accuracy of POT is still unclear. In this study, based on 16 pairs of Sentinel-2 images covering the period before and after the Ms6.9 Menyuan earthquake in 2022, we quantitatively assessed the effects of imaging bands, time intervals between image pairs, and differences in solar zenith angles on the measurement accuracy of optical POT. The results showed that the quality of ground deformation extracted using the near-infrared band was superior to other bands. The accuracy of optical POT measurements exhibited a negative correlation with both the time interval between image pairs and the differences in solar zenith angles. The maximum difference in optical POT measurement accuracy for the near-infrared band between image pairs with different time intervals (5/10/15 days) reached 30.3%, while the maximum difference in deformation measurement accuracy for pairs with different solar zenith angle differences was 30.56%. Utilizing the optimal POT image pair, the accuracy of co-seismic deformation measurement for the Menyuan earthquake improved by 48.3% compared to the worst image pair. Gastric cancer (GC) is the most common malignant tumor of digestive system. Bufalin extracted from Venenum Bufonis is one of the most effective anticancer monomers, which has been proved to play anticancer roles in a variety of cancers such as ovarian cancer, prostate cancer and neuroblastoma. However, there are few studies on bufalin in GC, and lack of clear targets. The effect of bufalin on the proliferation and migration of GC cells was detected by CCK-8, scratch wound healing assay, transwell assay and Western blotting. The potential direct interaction proteins of bufalin were screened by human proteome microarray containing 21,838 human proteins. The target protein was determined by bioinformatics, and the binding sites were predicted by molecular docking technique. Biological experiments in vitro and in vivo were conducted to verify the effect of bufalin directly interaction protein and the mechanism of bufalin targeting the protein to inhibit the development of GC. The results showed that bufalin inhibited the proliferation and migration of MKN-45 and HGC-27 GC cell lines in vitro. BFAR, a direct interaction protein of bufalin has several potential binding sites to bufalin. BFAR is highly expressed in GC and promotes the occurrence and metastasis of GC by activating PI3K/AKT/mTOR signal pathway in vitro and in vivo. Bufalin reversed the promoting effect of BFAR on the carcinogenesis and metastasis of GC by down-regulating the expression of BFAR. Our results show that bufalin targeting BFAR inhibits the occurrence and metastasis of GC through PI3K/AKT/mTOR signal pathway. At present, a variety of global remote sensing surface downwelling longwave radiation (SDL) products are used for atmospheric science research; however, there are few studies on the quantitative evaluation of differences among different SDL products. In order to evaluate the differences among different SDL products quantitatively, we have selected three commonly used SDL products—Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System-Synoptic Radiative Fluxes and Clouds (CERES-SYN), the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts-Surface Radiation Budget (ECMWF-SRB) and the Global Energy and Water Exchanges Project-Surface Radiation Budget (GEWEX-SRB)—to comprehensively study in this paper. The results show that there are significant differences among the three SDL products in some areas, such as in the Arctic, the Antarctic, the Sahara, the Tibet Plateau, and Greenland. The maximum absolute root mean square error (RMSEab) in these areas is greater than 20 Wm−2, the maximum relative root mean square error (RMSEre) is greater than 20%, the maximum and minimum absolute mean bias error (MBEab) are about 20 Wm−2 and −20 Wm−2, respectively, and the maximum and minimum relative mean bias error (MBEre) are about 10% and −10%, respectively. Among the three SDL products, the difference between the ECMWF-SRB and GEWEX-SRB is the most significant. In addition, this paper also analyzed the differences among different SDL products based on three aspects. Firstly, the differences among the three SDL products show that there is significant seasonality, and the differences among different months may vary greatly. However, the differences are not sensitive to years. Secondly, there are some differences in cloud-forcing radiative fluxes (CFRFs) of different SDL products, which is also an important factor affecting the difference between different SDL products. The World Health Organization states that the application of pit and fissure sealants (PFSs) is an effective way to prevent dental caries. Estimates of potential health and economic impacts of PFS upon school-age children provide crucial evidence to support the extension of PFS coverage to all target populations. The China Children's Oral Disease Comprehensive Intervention Project was launched in 2009 to provide free oral health examinations, PFS application, and oral health education for children aged 7 to 9 years. However, the national-level health and economic impacts of the program are unclear. To provide higher quality evidence at the national level in China, we developed a multi-perspective, multistate Markov model to estimate the cost and effect of PFS application to prevent dental caries. The total cost of the PFS project was 2.087 billion CNY, which can prevent 16.06 million PFMs from caries lesions. Compared with no intervention, PFS application was cost-effective from payer and society perspectives (BCR = 1.22 from the payer's perspective, BCR = 1.91 from the societal perspective). The incremental cost-effectiveness ratio from both perspectives was negative (−61.46 CNY from the payer's perspective, and −125.75 CNY from the societal perspective), indicating that PFS was cost-effective and cost-saving. Monitoring and modeling ground surface deformation are crucial for the dynamic assessment of geothermal resources and sustainable exploitation in a geothermal field. In this study, we extract the deformation in the Yangbajing geothermal field by the small baseline-synthetic aperture radar interferometry (SBAS-InSAR) method using 141 Sentinel-1A images collected between March 2017 and November 2021. The InSAR result indicates both uplift and subsidence in the geothermal field. Subsequently, we use a dual-source model combining a dipping ellipsoid and a rectangular surface to model the shallow reservoir that contracted to cause the complex subsidence field in the north of the geothermal field. The shallow reservoir that expanded to cause the uplift in the south is modeled by an ellipsoid source. The parameters inversion is processed by the nonlinear Bayesian inversion method which has been applied to search the optimal parameters setting in a priori space and evaluate the uncertainties by the confidence intervals. To validate our inversion results, we collect the data from 31 wells including extraction and injection wells, detailed tectonic survey data and geothermal isotherms of the Yangbajing geothermal field. The modeled shallow reservoir in the north is within a 140 °C ground isotherm and a 160 °C underground isotherm. The thickness and depth of the reservoir slightly exceed the data from producing wells, probably due to the structural subsidence of the reservoir. The geometric structure is consistent with the channel faults that control the formation and development of the shallow reservoirs. The modeled reservoir under the rebound area in the south is also validated by comparing the data. Furthermore, we estimate the volume loss and recovery of the contracting and expanding reservoirs. We analyse the deformation mechanisms by considering the tectonic formation, the reservoir structure, and the extraction and rechargeability of the reservoirs. This research suggests the deformation pattern of shallow porous reservoirs that have similar layer composition and tectonic structure elsewhere in the world. Moreover, it provides a theoretical model to explore the parameters and volume change of geothermal reservoirs in plateau-embedded basins around the world. Accurately detecting falls and providing clear directions for the fall can greatly assist medical staff in promptly developing rescue plans and reducing secondary injuries during transportation to the hospital. In order to facilitate portability and protect people's privacy, this paper presents a novel method for detecting fall direction during motion using the FMCW radar. We analyze the fall direction in motion based on the correlation between different motion states. The range–time (RT) features and Doppler–time (DT) features of the person from the motion state to the fallen state were obtained by using the FMCW radar. We analyzed the different features of the two states and used a two-branch convolutional neural network (CNN) to detect the falling direction of the person. In order to improve the reliability of the model, this paper presents a pattern feature extraction (PFE) algorithm that effectively eliminates noise and outliers in RT maps and DT maps. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper has an identification accuracy of 96.27% for different falling directions, which can accurately identify the falling direction and improve the efficiency of rescue. Clouds are the major source of clutter in optical remote sensing (RS) images. Approximately 60% of the Earth's surface is covered by clouds, with the equatorial and Tibetan Plateau regions being the most affected. Although the implementation of techniques for cloud removal can significantly improve the efficiency of remote sensing imagery, its use is severely restricted due to the poor timeliness of time-series cloud removal techniques and the distortion-prone nature of single-frame cloud removal techniques. To thoroughly remove thin clouds from remote sensing imagery, we propose the Saliency Cloud Matting Convolutional Neural Network (SCM-CNN) from an image fusion perspective. This network can automatically balance multiple loss functions, extract the cloud opacity and cloud top reflectance intensity from cloudy remote sensing images, and recover ground surface information under thin cloud cover through inverse operations. The SCM-CNN was trained on simulated samples and validated on both simulated samples and Sentinel-2 images, achieving average peak signal-to-noise ratios (PSNRs) of 30.04 and 25.32, respectively. Comparative studies demonstrate that the SCM-CNN model is more effective in performing cloud removal on individual remote sensing images, is robust, and can recover ground surface information under thin cloud cover without compromising the original image. The method proposed in this article can be widely promoted in regions with year-round cloud cover, providing data support for geological hazard, vegetation, and frozen area studies, among others. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a major staple food for more than one-third of the world’s population. Tiller number is an important agronomic trait in wheat, but only few related genes have been cloned. Here, we isolate a wheat mutant, tiller number1 (tn1), with much fewer tillers. We clone the TN1 gene via map-based cloning: TN1 encodes an ankyrin repeat protein with a transmembrane domain (ANK-TM). We show that a single amino acid substitution in the third conserved ankyrin repeat domain causes the decreased tiller number of tn1 mutant plants. Resequencing and haplotype analysis indicate that TN1 is conserved in wheat landraces and modern cultivars. Further, we reveal that the expression level of the abscisic acid (ABA) biosynthetic gene TaNCED3 and ABA content are significantly increased in the shoot base and tiller bud of the tn1 mutants; TN1 but not tn1 could inhibit the binding of TaPYL to TaPP2C via direct interaction with TaPYL. Taken together, we clone a key wheat tiller number regulatory gene TN1, which promotes tiller bud outgrowth probably through inhibiting ABA biosynthesis and signaling.Tiller number is an important agronomic trait of wheat. The order Oedogoniales comprises three genera, Oedogonium, Oedocladium and Bulbochaete, which were classified based on traditional morphological criteria, and includes more than 600 described species. This group is economically important in astaxanthin production and the energy sector. However, only one mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) has been reported so far. This study determined the mitochondrial genomes of seven Oedogoniales species, including six Oedogonium species and Oedocladium prescottii. Comparative analyses between the newly determined mitogenomes and the previously reported Bulbochaete rectangularis var. hiloensis mitogenome showed that all eight mitogenomes comprised 12 protein-coding genes (PCGs) and two rRNAs; however, the mitogenomes differed in their genome sizes, GC content, tRNAs, non-coding regions and introns. Synteny analysis of the eight mitogenomes revealed a high degree of syntenic conservation in general, with some rearrangements and inversions. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) analysis of the eight mitogenomes indicated Oedogonium dentireticulatum showed high similarity with Oedogonium sp3 (ANI of 96.32%). Most of the PCGs of the eight mitogenomes presented the conventional start codon ATG and stop codon TAR (TAA/TAG/TGA), and the synonymous codon preferences were conserved. Phylogenetic results indicated that Oedogonium was polyphyletic, and species of Oedocladium clustered with Oedogonium, while the position of B. rectangularis var. hiloensis was uncertain for the incongruent phylogenetic results. Statistical analyses of substitution rates demonstrated no significant differences among the three genera, and the dN/dS ratios based on branch model showed that cob, cox1 and nad4 of Oedocladium prescottii and B. rectangularis var. hiloensis were putative fast-evolving genes. These findings suggested that the traditional taxonomy of Oedogoniales did not define natural groups, and that species of Oedocladium and Bulbochaete may have undergone rapid evolution. LRRK2 mutations are closely associated with Parkinson's disease (PD). Convergent evidence suggests that LRRK2 regulates striatal function. Here, by using knock-in mouse lines expressing the two most common LRRK2 pathogenic mutations—G2019S and R1441C—we investigated how LRRK2 mutations altered striatal physiology. While we found that both R1441C and G2019S mice displayed reduced nigrostriatal dopamine release, hypoexcitability in indirect-pathway striatal projection neurons, and alterations associated with an impaired striatal-dependent motor learning were observed only in the R1441C mice. We also showed that increased synaptic PKA activities in the R1441C and not G2019S mice underlie the specific alterations in motor learning deficits in the R1441C mice. In summary, our data argue that LRRK2 mutations' impact on the striatum cannot be simply generalized. Instead, alterations in electrochemical, electrophysiological, molecular, and behavioral levels were distinct between LRRK2 mutations. Our findings offer mechanistic insights for devising and optimizing treatment strategies for PD patients. Oedogoniales comprises the three genera Oedogonium, Oedocladium, and Bulbochaete, which include more than 600 described species. The classification of Oedogoniaceae is currently based on morphology, and the complicated morphological characteristics make species identification difficult, with the limited molecular data also restricting the phylogenetic analysis. In the present study, we collected 47 Oedogonium specimens from China and sequenced 18S rDNA, ITS2, ITS (ITS1 + 5.8S + ITS2), and rbcL sequences to conduct phylogenetic analyses. We selected nine morphological characteristics, most of which were considered important in traditional systematics, for comparison with the molecular phylogeny results. All the topologies based on different datasets showed similar results; Oedogonium was a paraphyletic group, and Oedocladium and Bulbochaete clustered with Oedogonium. The morphological characteristics matching the phylogenetic results showed that the types of sexual differentiation, characteristics of the oogonium (including shape, types of aperture, and ornamentation of oospore wall), division types of antheridial, and number of sperm of each antheridial, which are considered the most important morphological characteristics in traditional taxonomy of Oedogonium, did not form monophyletic lineages respectively, indicating that traditional systematics may not reflect the real phylogeny of the genus Oedogonium. In addition, a new taxonomical classification of the genus Oedogonium was presented according to the shapes of basal cells, which matched well with the phylogenetic topologies. In addition, we propose to divide the genus Oedogonium into two sections, section Globosum and section Elongatum, representing the species with spherical or sub-hemispherical basal cells and elongated basal cells, respectively. The Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) is the largest ice body in the Northern Hemisphere. Quantifying the spatiotemporal characteristics of its mass change is crucial for understanding global climate change. Many studies have been focused on the long-term ice mass change and acceleration, but a more detailed analysis of multitemporal signals, including annual, interannual and transient variations, is still imperative to study the periodic ice mass change. Here, we comprehensively characterize the multitemporal mass changes of the entire GrIS and subregions using a variational mode decomposition method, applied to Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment satellite data, surface mass balance model output, climate parameters and GPS observations. We found that both the interannual and transient mass variations of the southern subregions have larger amplitudes associated with pronounced precipitations, indicating that the southern mass change patterns are more vulnerable to short-term climate variability. We also found that the reported rapid mass loss in 2010, 2012, 2016 and 2019 should be attributed to the interannual signals that result from low precipitations, significant runoff and evapotranspiration. The largest interannual mass variation was discovered in 2019 (−235 Gt), but due to the combined effect of interannual loss (−147 Gt) and transient attenuation (−380 Gt), the greatest mass loss (−527 Gt) was observed at the end of 2012. Our study emphasizes the importance of multitemporal signals in characterizing the spatiotemporal GrIS mass change and exploring the coupling effect between ice mass change and climate conditions. Considering the phylogenetic differences in the taxonomic framework of the Chaetophorales as determined by the use of nuclear molecular markers or chloroplast genes, the current study was the first to use phylotranscriptomic analyses comparing the transcriptomes of 12 Chaetophorales algal species. The results showed that a total of 240,133 gene families and 143 single-copy orthogroups were identified. Based on the single-copy orthogroups, supergene analysis and the coalescent-based approach were adopted to perform phylotranscriptomic analysis of the Chaetophorales. The phylogenetic relationships of most species were consistent with those of phylogenetic analyses based on the chloroplast genome data rather than nuclear molecular markers. The Schizomeriaceae and the Aphanochaetaceae clustered into a well-resolved basal clade in the Chaetophorales by either strategy. Evolutionary analyses of divergence time and substitution rate also revealed that the closest relationships existed between the Schizomeriaceae and Aphanochaetaceae. All species in the Chaetophorales exhibited a large number of expanded and contracted gene families, in particular the common ancestor of the Schizomeriaceae and Aphanochaetaceae. The only terrestrial alga, Fritschiella tuberosa, had the greatest number of expanded gene families, which were associated with increased fatty acid biosynthesis. Phylotranscriptomic and evolutionary analyses all robustly identified the unique taxonomic relationship of Chaetophorales consistent with chloroplast genome data, proving the advantages of high-throughput data in phylogeny. Ulvella species are widely distributed in ocean and freshwater habitats and from high latitudes to the tropics. However, no species of this genus have been found in the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau. In the present study, five rock specimens were collected from the bottom of Qinghai Lake at a depth of about 15–28 m, from which three unialgal strains were isolated. These strains were characterized by prostrate pseudoparenchyma, irregular or radial branch filaments, and mono- or polystromatic discs or rosettes formed by consecutive filaments, with thalli that can grow up to 180 um in length, suggesting that they may be Ulvella species. Phylogenetic analysis based on 18S rDNA and tufA cpDNA sequences revealed that the isolates formed a strong branch among other Ulvella species and were closely related to Ulvella leptochaete and Ulvellawaernii. This result was also confirmed by neighbor-joining tree inference based on ITS2 secondary structure. Unlike other members of Ulvella, the isolated strain was characterized by its unique habitat, field morphology of thallus, size of vegetative cells, and number of pyrenoids. Based on these morphological differences, the phylogenetic analysis, and the comparison of ITS2 secondary structure with relative species, the strain isolated in this study was proposed to be a novel Ulvella sp. The alga was found on the bottom of brackish lakes on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau, which meant that our sampling range needed to be expanded further. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Most glaciers on the Tibetan Plateau have experienced continuous mass losses in response to global warming. However, the seasonal dynamics of glaciers on the southeastern Tibetan Plateau have rarely been reported in terms of glacier surface elevation and velocity. This paper presents a first attempt to explore the seasonal dynamics of the debris-covered Dagongba Glacier within the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. We use the multitemporal unoccupied aerial vehicle images collected over the lower ablation zone on 8 June and 17 October 2018, and 13 May 2019, and then perform an analysis concerning climatic fluctuations. The results reveal that the mean surface elevation decrease of the Dagongba Glacier during the warm season ($2.81\pm 0.44$ m) was remarkably higher than the cold season ($0.72\pm 0.45$ m). Particularly notable glacier surface elevation changes were found around supraglacial lakes and ice cliffs where ice ablation rates were $\sim$ 3 times higher than the average. In addition, a larger longitudinal decline of glacier surface velocity was observed in the warm season than that in the cold season. In terms of further comparative analysis, the Dagongba Glacier experienced a decrease in surface velocity between 1982–83 and 2018–19, with a decrease in the warm season possibly twice as large as that in the cold season. The use of the conventional interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) to generate digital elevation models (DEMs) always encounters phase unwrapping (PU) errors in areas with a sizeable topographic gradient. Range split-spectrum interferometry (RSSI) can overcome this issue; however, it loses the spatial resolution of the SAR image. We propose the use of the RSSI-assisted In-SAR-derived DEM (RID) method to address this challenge. The proposed approach first applies the RSSI method to generate a prior DEM, used for simulating terrain phases. Then, the simulated terrain phases are subtracted from the wrapped InSAR phases to obtain wrapped residual phases. Finally, the residual phases are unwrapped by the minimum cost flow (MCF) method, and the unwrapped residual phases are added to the simulated phases. Both the simulated and TerraSAR-X data sets are used to verify the proposed method. Compared with the InSAR and RSSI methods, the proposed approach can effectively decrease the PU errors of large gradients, ensure data resolution, and guarantee the DEM's accuracy. The root mean square error between the topographic phase simulated from the real DEM and the topographic phase generated from the proposed method is 2.22 rad, which is significantly lower than 6.60 rad for InSAR, and the improvement rate is about 66.36%. C‐phycocyanin (C‐PC) is an effective antioxidant and has an important value in medical research. Oxidative stress is considered to be one of the main underlying mechanisms of cell death, and reducing oxidative stress is one of the strategies to enhance germ cell viability. Herein, we investigated the protective effect and the mechanism of C‐PC and apo‐phycocyanin subunit on oxidative stress damage induced by H2O2 in GC‐1 spg cells. C‐PC genes were cloned into the pGEX‐4T‐1 vectorand transformed into Escherichia coli BL21 to achieve the efficient expression of C‐PC subunit. GC‐1 spg cells were treated with 600 μM H2O2for 24 h to establish the oxidative stress damage model. Cell viability was detected by CCK‐8. The degree of oxidative stress was detected by testing Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities and glutathione (GSH) and Malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) was evaluated utilizingby 2', 7'‐dichlorofluorescent‐diacetate (DCFH‐DA). Mitochondrial membrane potential was determined by JC‐1. Cell necrosis rate was detected by Annexin V‐FITC/PI. Expression of protein was detected by western blot. We found that C‐PC and GST‐CPC β significantly inhibited H2O2‐induced oxidative damage of GC‐1 spg cells, improved the ability of antioxidation, reduced ROS overproduction, and mitochondrial membrane potential loss, and inhibited the RIP‐1/RIP‐3/ p‐MLKL signaling pathway to reduce the necrosis rate. The results demonstrated that C‐PC played a protective role against H2O2‐induced cell damage, especially its β subunit. Background: Gender bias in career choices has always been a matter of great concern, including in the field of medicine. This study reports on the current situation in this regard in China, including the reasons for Chinese medical students' willingness to engage in surgical careers; investigates their accounts of gender bias; and analyzes the effect of gender bias on their surgical career choices. Methods: This study invited medical students from Harbin Medical University to fill out a non-mandatory questionnaire on whether they had witnessed gender bias, their surgical career intentions, and factors influencing their career intentions. A one-way analysis of variance was used to compare the differences between continuous variables. Pearson's chi-squared test was used to compare the differences between the categorical variables, the Kendall correlation coefficient (tau) was used to assess the correlation between the reasons rankings reported by gender, and a multiple regression analysis was conducted by logit model. Results: A total of 643 students responded to the questionnaire. Of them, 63.76% expressed a willingness for a surgical career, with "interest" being a key driving factor (73.41%). Almost all respondents (96.27%) answered that there were more male leaders in the surgical departments they had rotated through or had contacted. Only a few respondents reported gender barriers influencing recruitment (32.19%). However, witnessing gender bias (recruitment of male required) was correlated to choice of surgical career (P < 0.05). Females were less willing to pursue a career in surgery if they had witnessed gender barriers in surgical recruitment. Male dominance also correlated to the choice of a surgical career (P < 0.1). Of the respondents, 53.19% believed that surgery was not suitable for females; among female respondents, this number was 56.12%, higher than for male respondents. When females think that the surgical profession is not suitable for them, it reduces the possibility of their pursuing a career in surgery. Conclusion: Most medical students were interested in surgical care. Witnessing gender bias decreases females' willingness to pursue a career in surgery. It is necessary to stimulate medical students' interest in surgery when formulating strategies to promote surgical career choices, as well as to reduce gender bias in surgery; in this way, females' surgical careers should be ensured. Thaw consolidation of degrading permafrost is a serious hazard to the safety and operation of infrastructure. Monitoring thermal changes in the active layer (AL), the proportion of the soil above permafrost that thaws and freezes periodically, is critical to understanding the conditions of the top layer above the permafrost and regulating the construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities. However, this is a very challenging task using ground-based methods such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR) or temperature sensors. This study explores the integration of interferometric measurements from high-resolution X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images and volumetric water content (VWC) data from SoilGrids to quantify detailed spatial variations in active layer thickness (ALT) in Iqaluit, the territorial capital of Nunavut in Canada. A total of 21 SAR images from COSMO Sky-Med (CSK) were first analyzed using the freely connected network interferometric synthetic aperture radar (FCNInSAR) method to map spatial and temporal variations in ground surface subsidence in the study area. Subsequently, we built an ALT retrieval model by introducing the thaw settlement coefficient, which takes soil properties and saturation state into account. The subsidence measurements from InSAR were then integrated with VWC extracted from the SoilGrids database to estimate changes in ALT. For validation, we conducted a comparison between estimated ALTs and in situ measurements in the airport sector. The InSAR survey identifies several sites of ground deformation at Iqaluit, subsiding at rates exceeding 80 mm/year. The subsidence rate changes along the runway coincide with frost cracks and ice-wedge furrows. The obtained ALTs, ranging from 0 to 5 m, vary significantly in different sediments. Maximum ALTs are found for rock areas, while shallow ALTs are distributed in the till blanket (Tb), the intertidal (Mi) sediments, and the alluvial flood plain (Afp) sediment units. The intersection of taxiway and runway has an AL thicker than other parts in the glaciomarine deltaic (GMd) sediments. Our study suggests that combining high-resolution SAR imagery with VWC data can provide more comprehensive ALT knowledge for hazard prevention and infrastructure operation in the permafrost zone. Mapping the outlines of glaciers has primarily relied on the interpretation of satellite optical images. However, the accurate delineation of glaciers in complex terrain mountain regions remains challenging, mainly because the supraglacial debris-covered ablation zones and snow-covered accumulation zones often exhibit the same spectral properties as their adjacent grounds in optical images. This study presents a novel approach by exploring both the satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) amplitude and interferometric coherence to map mountain glaciers. This method explores the deviation of the glacier surface signal in the SAR time series to distinguish glacier ice from the surrounding stable ground. To this end, we explored the classifying capabilities of two indices from a set of SAR images, SAR interferometric coherence and amplitude deviation index (ADI), to determine glacier boundary. We found that the two indices complement each other for mapping glaciers. A ratio map based on ADI and SAR coherence (ACR) was then derived, from which the glacier outline was automatically tracked using a specified threshold, followed by manual modification. We validated this approach on two typical valley glaciers, the debris-covered Hailuogou Glacier and debris-free Mozigou Glacier, in Mount Gongga in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. The results show that the proposed ACR criteria can significantly enhance the contrast between glaciers and their surroundings. By comparing our results with manually delineated glacier outlines from high-resolution cloud-free satellite optical imagery, we found that the misclassification rate and difference rate for our results were 2.6% and 4.2%, respectively. The approach presented in this study can be easily adapted to map the outlines of mountain glaciers worldwide efficiently and is useful for inferring glacier boundary changes in a climate warming context. Chaetophora lobata is the type species of the polyphyletic genus Chaetophora. Clarification of its species identification, phylogenetic relationships, and plastome characteristics is helpful for taxonomic revisions and evolutionary studies of this genus. This study presents detailed information on morphology, culture, phylogenetic analysis, phylogenomics and comparative genomics of C. lobata. The complete morphological description and phylogenetic analyses based on nuclear rDNA and chloroplast protein-coding genes were robust for the identification of C. lobata. Moreover, de novo sequencing was used to determine the 222 213 bp chloroplast genome, which lacked inverted repeats as in all other members of the Chaetophorales. The chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) of C. lobata was found to be AT-rich (68.2%), consisting of 67 protein-coding genes, among which 62 genes were encoded on the plus strand and five genes were encoded on the minus strand with significant imbalance in distribution. Additionally, 28 tRNA genes, three rRNA genes, 16 introns and 18 putative open reading frames (ORFs) were annotated. Eight ORFs arranged in a row occupied about 18 kbp between psaA and atpI genes, and 16 introns (14 group I introns and 2 group II introns) were annotated in nine genes. Six genes contained nine intronic ORFs. Synteny and rearrangements analysis clearly showed the closest relationships between Chaetophora sp. and C. lobata. Substitution rate estimation indicated that the cpDNA of Chaetophorales was under purifying selection and most species were under similar evolutionary pressure. Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines have been proven effective against cervical cancer. However, HPV vaccination is not included in the Chinese immunization program. This study aimed to assess the cost-effectiveness of incorporating different HPV vaccines into immunization programs at the Chinese national and provincial levels.Methods: The Papillomavirus Rapid Interface for Modeling and Economics model was used to estimate the possible cost and social and economic benefits of adopting various HPV vaccination immunization strategies in 31 provinces in Mainland China in 2019. Demographic and regional economic data were obtained from the national and provincial Statistical Yearbook. The cost of vaccines was gathered from the centralized procurement information platform of all Chinese provinces. Treatment costs, epidemiological data, and other model parameters were obtained from published literature. The cost of vaccination, treatment costs saved, net costs, cases and deaths averted, life years saved, disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) prevented, and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios were predicted both provincially and nationally. Deterministic sensitivity analyses were used to explore model uncertainty.Results: The net cost of vaccinating with the domestic bivalent HPV vaccine was the lowest. At the national level, after bivalent or quadrivalent HPV vaccination, the number of cases and deaths averted due to cervical cancer were 12,545 and 5109, respectively, whereas the 9-valent HPV vaccine averted 28,140 cases and 11,459 deaths. HPV vaccines were cost-effective at a national level (maximum cost US$ 18,165 per DALY gained.) compared to the 3 times GDP per capita (US$ 30,837). Bivalent HPV vaccines were cost-effective in all 31 provinces. Imported quadrivalent and 9-valent HPV vaccines were cost-effective in 29 provinces, except Heilongjiang and Gansu. The univariate sensitivity analysis showed that the results were robust when the model parameters were changed, and that the discount rate was the main factor affecting the baseline results.Conclusions: This study provides evidence that the inclusion of HPV vaccination in the immunization program would be cost-effective at a national level and in most provinces. Provinces with a higher population have more prevented cases, deaths, and DALYs. Trehalose-6-phosphate phosphatase (TPP) is a key enzyme involved in trehalose synthesis in higher plants. Previous studies have shown that TPP family genes increase yields without affecting plant growth under drought conditions, but their functions in cotton have not been reported. In this study, 17, 12, 26 and 24 TPP family genes were identified in Gossypium arboreum, Gossypium raimondii, Gossypium barbadense and Gossypium hirsutum, respectively. The 79 TPP family genes were divided into three subgroups by phylogenetic analysis. Virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) of GhTPP22 produced TRV::GhTPP22 plants that were more sensitive to drought stress than the control plants, and the relative expression of GhTPP22 was decreased, as shown by qRT–PCR. Moreover, we analysed the gene structure, targeted small RNAs, and gene expression patterns of TPP family members and the physicochemical properties of their encoded proteins. Overall, members of the TPP gene family in cotton were systematically identified, and the function of GhTPP22 under drought stress conditions was preliminarily verified. Drought is an event of shortages in the water supply, whether atmospheric, surface water or ground water. Prolonged droughts have negative impacts on ecosystems, agriculture, society, and the economy. Although existing drought index products are widely utilized in drought monitoring, the coarse spatial resolution greatly limits their applications on regional or local scales. Machine learning driven by remote sensing observations offers an opportunity to monitor regional scale droughts. However, the limited time range of remote sensing observations such as vegetation index (VI) resulted in a substantial gap in generating high resolution drought index products before 2000. This study generated spatiotemporally continuous Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) data spanning from 1901–2018 in southwestern China by machine learning. It indicated that four Classification and Regression Tree (CART) approaches, decision trees (DT), random forest (RF), gradient boosted regression trees (GBRT) and extra trees (ET), can provide valid local drought information by downscaling the Estación Experimental de Aula Dei (EEAD) data. The in-situ SPEI dataset produced by the Penman–Monteith method was used as a benchmark to evaluate the temporal and spatial performance of the downscaled SPEI. In addition, the necessity of VI in SPEI downscaling was also assessed. The results showed that: (1) the ET-based product has the best performance (R2 = 0.889, MAE = 0.232, RMSE = 0.432); (2) the VI provides no significant improvement for SPEI re-construction; (3) topography exerts an obvious influence on the downscaling process, and (4) the downscaled SPEI shows more consistency with the in-situ SPEI compared with EEAD SPEI. The near-infrared reflectance of vegetation (NIRv) has been increasingly used as a proxy of gross primary production (GPP) across various temporal scales, ecosystems, and climate conditions. However, topography significantly distorts NIRv and GPP estimations over mountainous areas. We evaluated the topographic effects on NIRv and applied a path length correction (PLC) for improving its performance over mountainous areas. The proposed topographically corrected NIRv (referred to TCNIRv) was evaluated by multiple Landsat-8 operational land imager (OLI) images with concurrent ${ in}~{ situ}$ GPP measurements over the Lägeren mountainous forest area. TCNIRv reduced topographic effects in the original NIRv and it was comparable to the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and the green normalized difference vegetation index (GNDVI), which are often deemed to be independent of topographic effects. In addition, TCNIRv better agreed with GPP than the other vegetation indices (VIs): coefficient of determination $R^{2} $ = 0.90 and root mean square error RMSE = 1.40 $\text{g}\cdot $ Cm $^{-2} \cdot \text{d}$ −1 for TCNIRv compared to $R^{2} $ = 0.71 and RMSE = 2.47 $\text{g}\cdot $ Cm−2 $\cdot \text{d}$ −1 for NIRv. The evaluation shows that TCNIRv is a reliable proxy of GPP, and because of its simplicity and physical soundness, it will facilitate vegetation monitoring over complex topography mountainous areas. Identification of the community structure of phytoplankton is an important link in studying the structure and function of aquatic ecosystems. However, research on the community structure of phytoplankton in the Golmud area is very scarce at present. To explore the composition of phytoplankton in the Golmud area, eukaryotic phytoplankton and environmental parameters were sampled in September 2020. The composition and diversity of the eukaryotic phytoplankton community were determined by microscopic observation and Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology. The results showed that a total of 40 species of eukaryotic phytoplankton from 4 phyla were identified by microscopic observation, and 154 species of eukaryotic phytoplankton from 7 phyla were obtained by high-throughput sequencing, mainly Bacillariophyta and Chlorophyta. The dominant species were Dunaliella sp., Teleaulax sp., Parvodinium mixtum, and Lindavia radiosa. The eukaryotic phytoplankton density in summer was 0.09–12.08 × 105 cells/L, the total biomass was 0.002–0.55 mg/L, and the concentration of chlorophyll-a was 0.00–0.91 μg/L. Multiple α diversity indices showed that the diversity of water in different salinities was in the order of freshwater > brackish > saline. The β diversity results showed that the eukaryotic phytoplankton community composition was more similar in water with the same salinity. The redundancy analysis results of water with different salinities showed that environmental factors susc as salinity, total phosphorus concentration, and dissolved oxygen affected the eukaryotic phytoplankton community structure, among which salinity had the greatest influence.
