Introduction: Salt stress is a major environmental factor that constrains soybean growth, development, and productivity. Flavonoids are key secondary metabolites that play a crucial role in enhancing plant resistance to both biotic and abiotic stress. However, a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory mechanisms underlying flavonoid biosynthesis under salt stress in soybean is lacking. Methods: In this study, an integrative analysis of soybean metabolome and transcriptome was conducted using two soybean lines, FQ03 (salt-sensitive, SS) and FQ07 (salt-tolerant, ST). Results: A total of 650 significantly changed metabolites were identified in SS and ST after salt stress treatment. Among them, 151 flavonoids were categorized into nine classes, with flavones and flavonols being the predominant flavonoid types in soybean. Heatmap analysis showed higher contents of most flavonoid metabolites in ST than in SS under salt stress, and the total flavonoid content in ST was significantly higher than that in SS. In addition, transcriptome analysis revealed a higher number of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in ST than in SS under salt stress. KEGG enrichment analysis revealed that DEGs were mainly enriched in pathways related to phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, isoflavonoid biosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, as well as flavone and flavonol biosynthesis. Notably, 55 DEGs that were mapped to the flavonoid biosynthetic pathway were identified, with most showing higher expression levels in ST than in SS. Weighted gene correlation network analysis identified eight structural genes and six transcription factor genes as key regulators of flavonoid biosynthesis within the blue module. Furthermore, qRT-PCR results confirmed the accuracy of the transcriptomic data and reliability of the identified candidate genes. Discussion: This study provides insights into the regulatory mechanisms underlying salt stress responses in soybean and highlights hub genes as potential targets for developing salt-tolerant soybean varieties. This study addresses the challenge of simulating fluid flow around flexible net panels, which are critical components in aquaculture systems. Traditional grid-based Eulerian methods struggle with the complex deformations and interactions of such panels. To fill this gap, a numerical approach leveraging the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method is introduced. The proposed approach employs a knot-spring model to represent the flexible net panels. The nets are idealized as a structure of physical net-knots linked by virtual elastic springs. The SPH method is used to simulate the fluid flow, capturing the movement of the knots and the resulting deformation of the nets. The model's parameters and numerical schemes are detailed, along with the implementation process. The accuracy of the model is validated through comparisons with existing experimental and simulation data. The results indicate that the SPH-based approach accurately simulates the flow past flexible net panels, providing a detailed velocity distribution and deformation analysis. The study's findings demonstrate the potential of the SPH method for aquaculture engineering applications. The proposed approach offers a promising alternative to traditional methods, particularly in scenarios involving significant net deformation or interaction with other objects. We develop an integrated neural network landslide susceptibility assessment (LSA) method that integrates temporal dynamic features of interferometry synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) deformation data and the spatial features of landslide influencing factors. We construct a time-distributed convolutional neural network (TD-CNN) and bidirectional gated recurrent unit (Bi-GRU) to better understand the temporal dynamic features of InSAR cumulative deformation, and construct a multi-scale convolutional neural network (MSCNN) to determine the spatial features of landslide influencing factors, and construct a parallel unified deep learning network model to fuse these temporal and spatial features for LSA. Compared with the traditional MSCNN method, the accuracy of the proposed model is improved by 1.20%. The performance of the proposed model is preferable to MSCNN. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the testing set reaches 0.91. Our LSA results show that the proposed model clearly depicts areas with very high susceptibility landslides. Further, only 10.18% of the study area accurately covers 84.79% of historical landslide areas. Subjective consequences and objective indicators show that the proposed model that is integrated time-series InSAR deformation dynamic features can make full use of landslide characteristics and effectively improve the reliability of LSA. Background: The role of the histone ubiquitination-related gene in the cisplatin resistance of lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains an intricate subject. Methods: We accessed transcriptome data of both wild type and cisplatin-resistant cells from the GSE108214 dataset, and garnered transcriptome and clinical data of LUAD patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Utilizing the R software, we analyzed these public datasets in depth. Real-time Quantitative PCR (qPCR) was used to detect the RNA level of CUL4B. Effect of CUL4B on cell proliferation was evaluated using CCK8 and colony formation assay. Effect of CUL4B on cell invasion was evaluated using transwell assay. Cisplatin sensitivity was evaluated by calculating IC50. Results: Our analysis shed light on the significance of the histone ubiquitination-related gene, CUL4B, in relation to cisplatin resistance and the overall survival rates of LUAD patients. Notably, CUL4B was found to be overexpressed in both lung cancer tissues and cells. Meanwhile, in vitro experiments indicated can CUL4B significantly promote the proliferation, invasion and migration of lung cancer cells. Furthermore, suppressing CUL4B expression led to a noticeable reduction in the IC50 value of cisplatin in lung cancer cells. A deep dive into biological enrichment analysis revealed that among patients exhibiting high CUL4B expression, there was a pronounced activation of the G2M checkpoint and the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways. Immune microenvironment analysis has revealed that patients with elevated CUL4B expression may exhibit increased infiltration of M2 macrophages, coupled with a reduced infiltration of CD8+ T cells and activated NK cells. Notably, we observed higher CUL4B expression among those who responded positively to immunotherapy. The double-disc straight-groove (DDSG) grinding method is a new precision machining method for the rolling surface of bearing cylindrical rollers by using a flat grinding disc and a straight-groove grinding disc as machining tools. The machining principle of bearing cylindrical rollers based on the DDSG grinding method is experimentally investigated in this study. A circulating grinding platform has been constructed. The grinding test of the cylindrical rollers was performed with W40 white corundum abrasive. Under the experimental conditions of the grinding disc rotation speed of 7.5 rpm, the machining load of 110 N, and the eccentricity of the straight groove of 6 mm, 2000 cylindrical rollers (AISI 52100) were synchronously ground by the DDSG grinding method. The average diameter, surface roughness, and roundness of the ground rollers were investigated. Experimental results show that the material removal rate of the rollers is uniform. After 270 grinding cycles, the average diameter decreased from 5.99082 to 5.94135 mm, with an average material removal rate of 0.183 microns per cycle. The average roundness of ground cylinders reduced from 9.64 to 2.78 μm. The diameter variation decreased significantly from 14.5 to 6.0 μm. The average roughness reduced from 0.258 to 0.137 μm, and the fluctuation range of the roughness decreased from 0.143 to 0.033 μm. Synchrotron radiation based dynamic micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) is a powerful technique available at synchrotron light sources for investigating evolving microstructures. Wet granulation is the most widely used method of producing pharmaceutical granules, precursors to products like capsules and tablets. Granule microstructures are known to influence product performance, so this is an area for potential application of dynamic CT. Here, lactose monohydrate (LMH) was used as a representative powder to demonstrate dynamic CT capabilities. Wet granulation of LMH has been observed to occur on the order of several seconds, which is too fast for lab-based CT scanners to capture the changing internal structures. The superior X-ray photon flux from synchrotron light sources makes sub-second data acquisition possible and well suited for analysis of the wet-granulation process. Moreover, synchrotron radiation based imaging is non-destructive, does not require altering the sample in any way, and can enhance image contrast with phase-retrieval algorithms. Dynamic CT can bring insights to wet granulation, an area of research previously only studied via 2D and/or ex situ techniques. Through efficient dataprocessing strategies, dynamic CT can provide quantitative analysis of how the internal microstructure of an LMH granule evolves during the earliest moments of wet granulation. Somatic embryogenesis (SE) techniques have been established for micropropagation or basic research related to plant development in many conifer species. The frequent occurrence of non-embryogenic callus (NEC) during SE has impose constraints on the application of somatic embryogenesis SE in Larix kaempferi (Lamb.) Carr, but the potential regulatory mechanisms are poorly understood. In this study, integrated transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses were performed in embryogenic callus (EC) and NEC originating from a single immature zygotic embryo to better decipher the key molecular and metabolic mechanisms required for embryogenic potential maintenance. The results showed that a total of 13,842 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were found in EC and NEC, among which many were enriched in plant hormone signal transduction, starch and sucrose metabolism, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, and the biosynthesis of amino acids pathways. Metabolite profiling showed that 441 differentially accumulated metabolites (DAMs) were identified in EC and NEC. Both EC and NEC had vigorous primary metabolic activities, while most secondary metabolites were upregulated in NEC. Many totipotency-related transcription factor (TF) genes such as BBMs, WUSs, and LEC1 showed higher expression levels in EC compared with NEC, which may result in the higher accumulation of indole 3-acetic acid (IAA) in EC. NEC was characterized by upregulation of genes and metabolites associated with stress responses, such as DEGs involved in jasmonic acid (JA) and ethylene (ETH) biosynthesis and signal transduction pathways, and DEGs and DAMs related to phenylpropanoid and flavonoid biosynthesis. We predicted and analyzed TFs that could target several key coexpressed structural DEGs including two C4H genes, two CcoAOMT genes and three HCT genes involved in phenylpropanoid and flavonoid biosynthesis. Based on the targeted relationship and the co-expression network, two ERFs (Lk23436 and Lk458687), one MYB (Lk34626) and one C2C2-dof (Lk37167) may play an important role in regulating phenolic acid and flavonoid biosynthesis by transcriptionally regulating the expression of these structural genes. This study shows an approach involving integrated transcriptomic and metabolic analyses to obtain insights into molecular events underlying embryogenic potential maintenance and the biosynthesis mechanisms of key metabolites involving TF regulation, which provides valuable information for the improvement of SE efficiency in L. kaempferi. To verify whether the placenta harbors bacteria, and to explore the composition of placental microbiota (if yes) and its association with adverse pregnancy outcomes. The placental microbiota was detected by 16S rRNA gene sequencing technology. In the process of detecting placental samples, exogenous marine bacterial DNA that does not exist in the human body was artificially added to obtain a visible 16S band. At the same time, the sterile samples, such as scissors, sheets, and cotton swabs, in delivery and operating rooms were collected as the environmental control samples. As a result, a total of 2,621,009 sequences were obtained from 71 samples, 88.9% of which came from artificially added exogenous bacterial DNA, suggesting that the placenta contained fewer bacteria. After removing the operational taxonomic units (OTUs) that coexisted in environmental controls, the placenta was annotated with 11 phyla, 22 classes, 43 orders, 79 families, and 157 genera. The b diversity analysis showed that there were significant differences in the placental microbiota between 10 women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) (pAMOVA = 0.01) or 19 women with premature rupture of membranes (PROM) (pAMOVA = 0.004), and 21 women without adverse pregnancy outcomes, respectively. There were higher abundances of genera Bifidobacterium, Duncaniella, and Ruminococcus in the placenta samples of women with GDM. The genera of Bacteroides, Paraprevotella, and Ruminococcus were more enriched in the placental samples of women with PROM. The authors concluded that the placenta may harbor small amounts of microbiota, and significant differences in the dominant microbiota of the placenta were observed between those pregnant women with and without adverse pregnancy outcomes. Background: Bile acids (BAs) have been proposed to promote gastrointestinal cells carcinogenesis. However, studies on serum total bile acid (TBA) levels and gastrointestinal cancers (GICs) risk are rare. Methods: We conducted a retrospective case–control study from 2015 to 2019 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University, in which 4,256 GICs cases and 1,333 controls were recruited. Patients’ demographic, clinical and laboratory data were collected. The odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were estimated using binary logistic regression models. Results: Positive associations were observed between serum TBA levels and risks of esophageal cancer (EC), gastric cancer (GC) and colorectal cancer (CRC). Overall, ORs of EC, GC and CRC risk rose with the TBA levels increasing. After adjustment for potential confounders, the OR of TBA-positive for EC risk was 4.89 (95% CI: 3.20-7.49), followed by GC (OR: 3.92, 95% CI: 2.53-6.08), and CRC (OR: 3.32, 95% CI: 2.04-5.11). Patients aged 60 years or older have a higher risk of GICs, especially for EC patients. Males are associated with a higher risk of GC, while females are associated with a higher risk of CRC. Preoperative serum TBA positive and negative was significantly different in the presence or absence of hematogenous metastasis among EC patients (P=0.014), and lymph node metastasis among GC patients (P=0.018). Background: The oral microbiota plays vital roles in both oral and systemic health, but limited studies have explored the transition of the female oral microbiota from preconception to pregnancy along with pronounced hormonal fluctuations. Aim: To characterize the oral microbiota among women in preconception and pregnancy through a prospective study and to explore the associations between the oral microbiota and oral hygiene practices. Methods: A total of 202 unstimulated saliva samples were collected from 101 women in both preconception and late pregnancy. The oral microbiota was analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing. Results: The Ace and phylogenetic diversity (PD) index were significantly lower in the third trimester than preconception. The pathogenic taxa Prevotella and Atopobium parvulum were significantly higher during late pregnancy than preconception. Women with overall better oral hygiene practice showed lower richness and diversity in preconception compared to women with poorer oral hygiene practice. The abundance of pathogens such as Dialister during both preconception and pregnancy decreased among women with better oral hygiene practice. Conclusions: The composition of the oral microbiota changed slightly from preconception to late pregnancy, with more pathogens in saliva samples during pregnancy. Identifying prognostic indicators of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and elucidating the mechanisms underlying ccRCC progression are crucial for improving ccRCC patient prognosis. This study investigated the clinical significance and biological role of Ring finger protein 43 (RNF43) in ccRCC. Two independent cohorts of patients with ccRCC were employed to determine the prognostic significance of RNF43 by immunohistochemistry and statistical analyses. In vitro and in vivo experiments, RNA-seq, and other techniques were used to determine the biological role of RNF43 in ccRCC and related molecular mechanisms. RNF43 expression was commonly decreased in ccRCC specimens, and low expression of RNF43 indicated a higher TNM stage, SSIGN score, and WHO/ISUP grade and short survival in patients with ccRCC. Additionally, RNF43 overexpression suppressed the proliferation, migration, and targeted drug resistance of ccRCC cells, while the knockdown of RNF43 enhanced these characteristics of ccRCC. RNF43 knockdown activated YAP signaling by decreasing YAP phosphorylation by p-LATS1/2 and increasing the transcription and nuclear distribution of YAP. By contrast, RNF43 overexpression showed the opposite effects. Decreasing YAP abolished the effect of RNF43 knockdown in promoting the malignant features of ccRCC. Additionally, restoring RNF43 expression suppressed the resistance of the targeted drug pazopanib in in vivo orthotopic ccRCC. Furthermore, combining the expression of RNF43 and YAP with TNM stage or the SSIGN score exhibited greater accuracy than any of these indicators alone in assessing the postoperative prognosis of ccRCC patients. Background: Chemotherapeutic resistance is the main cause of clinical treatment failure and poor prognosis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). There is no research on chemotherapeutic resistance in TNBC from the perspective of circular RNAs (circRNAs). Methods: TNBC-related circRNAs were identified based on the GSE101124 dataset. Quantitative reverse transcription PCR was used to detect the expression level of circWAC in TNBC cells and tissues. Then, in vitro and in vivo functional experiments were performed to evaluate the effects of circWAC in TNBC. Results: CircWAC was highly expressed in TNBC and was associated with worse TNBC patient prognosis. Subsequently, it was verified that downregulation of circWAC can increase the sensitivity of TNBC cells to paclitaxel (PTX) in vitro and in vivo. The expression of miR-142 was negatively correlated with circWAC in TNBC. The interaction between circWAC and miR-142 in TNBC cells was confirmed by RNA immunoprecipitation assays, luciferase reporter assays, pulldown assays, and fluorescence in situ hybridization. Mechanistically, circWAC acted as a miR-142 sponge to relieve the repressive effect of miR-142 on its target WWP1. In addition, the overall survival of TNBC patients with high expression of miR-142 was significantly better than that of patients with low expression of miR-142, and these results were verified in public databases. MiR-142 regulated the expression of WWP1 and the activity of the PI3K/AKT pathway. It was confirmed that WWP1 is highly expressed in TNBC and that the prognosis of patients with high WWP1 expression is poor. Conclusions: CircWAC/miR-142/WWP1 form a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network to regulate PI3K/AKT signaling activity in TNBC cells and affect the chemosensitivity of cells. Raindrop size distribution (DSD) characteristics during the East Asian summer monsoon (EASM) were studied, using measurements from three OTT Particle Size Velocity (Parsivel) disdrometers in Nanjing, Chuzhou, and the northwestern Pacific (NWP), respectively. Western and eastern parts of the monsoon rainband were separated for a comparative study of the DSD variability. Along with disdrometer data, GPM Dual-Frequency Precipitation Radar (DPR), Fengyun-2E (FY-2E), MODIS, GPCP, ERA-Interim, and in situ radiosonde datasets are combined to illustrate the possible microphysical mechanisms for the significant DSD variability in two parts, in terms of convective intensity, cloud structure, and aerosol effects. The DSD characteristics of six rain-rate classes and two rainfall categories (convective and stratiform) were studied. The western part has larger mass-weighted mean diameter Dm while smaller normalized intercept log10(Nw) than the eastern part, and the convective clusters of the western part (land) could be identified more maritime-like than continental-like due to moisture transport from the tropical ocean, while that of the eastern part (sea) is between maritime-like and continental-like. Cross validation of GPM rainfall products are implemented based on surface disdrometer observations. DPR products manifest better performance over sea than land areas of the EASM rainband. Empirical Dm-Ze and Nw-Dm relations were also derived preliminarily to improve the GPM rain-retrieval algorithms in the EASM season. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Trihelix transcription factors play multiple roles in plant growth, development and various stress responses. In this study, we identified 71 trihelix family genes in the soybean genome. These trihelix genes were located at 19 out of 20 soybean chromosomes unevenly and were classified into six distinct subfamilies: GT-1, GT-2, GTγ , SIP1, SH4 and GTδ. The gene structure and conserved functional domain of these trihelix genes were similar in the same subfamily but diverged between different subfamilies. Thirteen segmental duplicated gene pairs were identified and all of them experienced a strong purifying selective pressure during evolution. Various stress- responsive cis-elements presented in the promoters of soybean trihelix genes, suggesting that the trihelix genes might respond to the environmental stresses in soybean. The expression analysis suggests that trihelix genes are involved in diverse functions during soybean development, flood or salinity tolerance, and plant immunity. A Ge/GeSn/Ge double heterojunction p‐i‐n vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) is designed in this paper. According to the principle of distributed Bragg reflection (DBR), 6 and 12 pairs of SiO2/Si layers as the DBR are prepared on the upper and lower sides of the p‐i‐n structure. The upper and lower DBRs, as the resonant cavity of the laser, replace the Fabry Perot (FP) cavity of the conventional laser. The effects of Sn component and the ultra‐injection technique on the performance of the device are introduced at the same time to realize the direct bandgap luminescence of GeSn in the case of lower Sn component. The level of ultra‐injection is adjusted by changing the thickness of the i‐layer. The relationship between the thickness of the i‐layer and the carrier distribution after energization, the illuminating power, and the threshold current density are analyzed, and the best photoelectric performance is obtained. The predictability limits of tropical cyclone (TC) intensity over the western North Pacific (WNP) are investigated using TC best track data. The results show that the predictability limit of the TC minimum central pressure (MCP) is ;102 h, comparable to that of the TC maximum sustained wind (MSW). The spatial distribution of the predictability limit of the TCMCP over the WNP is similar to that of the TCMSW, and both gradually decrease from the eastern WNP (EWNP) to the South China Sea (SCS). The predictability limits of the TCMCP and MS Ware relatively high over the southeastern WNP where the modified accumulated cyclone energy (MACE) is relatively large, whereas they are relatively low over the SCS where the MACE is relatively small. The spatial patterns of the TC lifetime and the lifetime maximum intensity (LMI) are similar to that of the TC MACE. Strong and long-lived TCs, which have relatively long predictability, mainly form in the southwestern WNP. In contrast, weak and short-lived TCs, which have relatively short predictability, mainly form in the SCS. In addition to the dependence of the predictability limit on genesis location, the predictability limits of TC intensity also evolve in the TC life cycle. The predictability limit of the TCMCP (MSW) gradually decreases from 102 (108) h at genesis time (00 h) to 54 (84) h 4 days after TC genesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Dislocations in crystals naturally break the symmetry of the bulk, introducing local atomic configurations with symmetries such as fivefold rings. But dislocations do not usually nucleate aperiodic structure along their length. Here we demonstrate the formation of extended binary quasicrystalline precipitates with Penrose-like random-tiling structures, beginning with chemical ordering within the pentagonal structure at cores of prismatic dislocations in Mg–Zn alloys. Atomic resolution observations indicate that icosahedral chains centered along [0001] pillars of Zn interstitial atoms are formed templated by the fivefold rings at dislocation cores. They subsequently form columns of rhombic and elongated hexagonal tiles parallel to the dislocation lines. Quasicrystalline precipitates are formed by random tiling of these rhombic and hexagonal tiles. Such precipitation may impact dislocation glide and alloy strength. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three heats of industrial trials and thermodynamic calculations were performed to investigate the effect of slag basicity adjusting on inclusions in tire cord steels. It was found that the application of low basicity slag can effectively avoid the formation of Al2O3-rich inclusions, while a high basicity slag was beneficial to improve the cleanliness of tire cord steels. It should be noted that adjusting slag basicity from 1.5-2.0 to 0.8-1.0 during the LF refining process can hardly lower the Al2O3 in inclusions. Thus, it was suggested to use the low slag basicity during the whole LF refining process to avoid the formation of Al2O3-rich inclusions. Gastric duplication is a rare congenital abnormality, and its diagnosis and treatment may be challenging in certain children. The present study reported four cases of gastric duplication who were followed-up and treated in the Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University between March 2010 and March 2015. The study aimed to increase the knowledge on this disease in order to improve the diagnosis and treatment, as well as decrease the possibility of misdiagnosis. Diagnosis could not be confirmed by the clinical manifestation, ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT). Therefore, laparoscopic examination and laparotomy were conducted, which confirmed the gastric duplication, and resection was performed according to the type of gastric duplication. Two patients received laparoscopy-assisted resection by removing the duplicated gastric tube through the navel, while one patient received total laparoscopic resection, and one patient received laparoscopy and laparotomy. The surgical procedures were performed without any issues, and no complications appeared following the surgery. The preoperative symptoms disappeared completely, and the patients recovered well according to the follow-ups conducted at 1 month, 1 year and 3 years for all four cases. In conclusion, gastric duplication is a rare condition and its preoperative diagnosis is difficult, and laparotomy is an effective method for diagnosis. Laparoscopy-assisted resection or total laparoscopic resection is preferred for uncomplicated gastric duplications, and simple excision can achieve a good therapeutic effect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A relative humidity (RH) measurement based on pressure drop analysis is presented as a diagnostic tool to experimentally quantify the amount of excess water on the cathode side of a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Ex-situ pressure drop calibration curves collected at fixed RH values, used with a set of well-defined equations for the anode pressure drop, allows for an estimate of in-situ relative humidity values. During the in-situ test, a dry anode inlet stream at increasing flow rates is used to create an evaporative gradient to drive water from the cathode to the anode. This combination of techniques thus quantitatively determines the changing net cell water flux. Knowing the cathodic water production rate, the net water flux to the anode can explain the influence of liquid and vapor transport as a function of GDL selection. Experimentally obtained quantified values for the water removal rate for a variety of cathode gas diffusion layer (GDL) setups are presented, which were chosen to experimentally vary a range of water management abilities, from high to low performance. The results show that more water is transported to the anode when a GDL with poor water management capabilities is used, due to the higher levels of initial saturation occurring on the cathode. At sufficiently high concentration gradients, the anode removes more water than is produced by the reaction, allowing for the quantification of excess water saturating the cathode. Dystrobrevin-binding protein 1 (Dtnbp1) is one of the earliest identified schizophrenia susceptibility genes. Reduced expression of DTNBP1 is commonly found in brain areas of schizophrenic patients. Dtnbp1-null mutant mice exhibit abnormalities in behaviors and impairments in neuronal activities. However, how diminished DTNBP1 expression contributes to clinical relevant features of schizophrenia remains to be illustrated. Here, using a conditional Dtnbp1 knockout mouse line, we identified an in vivo schizophrenia-relevant function of DTNBP1 in pyramidal neurons of the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC). We demonstrated that DTNBP1 elimination specifically in pyramidal neurons of the mPFC impaired mouse pre-pulse inhibition (PPI) behavior and reduced perisomatic GABAergic synapses. We further revealed that loss of DTNBP1 in pyramidal neurons diminished activitydependent secretion of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). Finally, we showed that chronic BDNF infusion in the mPFC fully rescued both GABAergic synaptic dysfunction and PPI behavioral deficit induced by DTNBP1 elimination from pyramidal neurons. Our findings highlight brain region- and cell type-specific functions of DTNBP1 in the pathogenesis of schizophrenia, and underscore BDNF restoration as a potential therapeutic strategy for schizophrenia. Nanostructured manganese dioxide (MnO2)/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) composite is fabricated via a simple hydrothermal process. The MnO2/RGO composite is used to construct supercapacitors as electrodes with high loading mass of active materials. The electrochemical properties of constructed supercapacitors are tested by cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic charge-discharge and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Electrochemical measurements demonstrate that MnO2/RGO electrode exhibits a high specific capacity of 316 F·g-1 at a current density of 200 mA·g-1 and good long-term cycling stability with capacitance retention of 93% at 500 mA·g-1 after 1000 cycles. The superior electrochemical performance of as-prepared composite could be mainly attributed to its unique structure, which is composed of MnO2 nanoflakes well-integrated on the surfaces of RGO. Hydrogen is a therapeutic antioxidant that has been used extensively in clinical trials. It also acts as a bioactive molecule that can alleviate abiotic stress in plants. However, the biological effects of hydrogen in somatic embryos and the underlying molecular basis remain largely unknown. In this study, the morphological and physiological influence of exogenous H2 treatment during somatic embryogenesis was characterized in Larix leptolepis Gordon. The results showed that exposure to hydrogen increased the proportions of active pro-embryogenic cells and normal somatic embryos. We sequenced mRNA and microRNA (miRNA) libraries to identify global transcriptome changes at different time points during H2 treatment of larch pro-embryogenic masses (PEMs). A total of 45,393 mRNAs and 315 miRNAs were obtained. Among them, 4253 genes and 96 miRNAs were differentially expressed in the hydrogen-treated libraries compared with the control. Further, a large number of the differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs were related to reactive oxygen species (ROS) homeostasis and cell cycle regulation. We also identified 4399 potential target genes for 285 of the miRNAs. The differential expression data and the mRNA-miRNA interaction network described here provide new insights into the molecular mechanisms that determine the performance of PEMs exposed to H2 during somatic embryogenesis. Nanostructured zinc oxide (ZnO) with different morphology has been synthesised by a facile hydrothermal method combining calcination procedure at different temperatures. The effect of calcination temperature on the morphology and electrochemical properties of assynthesised ZnO is investigated. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were applied to characterise the phase composition and microstructure of the synthesised samples. The electrochemical tests of as-synthesised ZnO as an anode material for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) reveal that ZnO nanoparticles prepared at 700°C deliver the largest capacity of 1815.8 mAh g-1, while cabbage-like ZnO nanosheets prepared at lower temperatures display better cycling stability. Background: The aim of the study was to introduce a new percutaneous technique for the treatment of traumatic pubic symphysis diastasis using a TightRope and external fixator. A comparison between this technique and percutaneous fixation using a cannulated screw was performed. Methods: From January 2009 to December 2013, 26 patients with type II traumatic pubic symphysis diastasis were treated at two level 1 regional trauma centers. Among them, 10 patients were treated with a percutaneous TightRope and external fixator and 16 patients were treated with percutaneous cannulated screw fixation. Functional outcomes were evaluated using the Majeed scoring system. Patient satisfaction was evaluated using the modified visual analog scale. Radiological results were assessed based on the width of pubic symphysis preoperatively, immediately postoperatively, and at the final follow-up. Postoperative complications were also recorded. Results: There were no significant differences between the groups in Majeed scores and patient satisfaction (p > 0. 05). There were no significant differences in the width of pubic symphysis preoperatively, immediately postoperatively, and at the final follow-up (p > 0.05). No significant differences were found regarding infection, fixation failure, or the need for revision surgery (p > 0.05). Conclusions: The new percutaneous technique using a TightRope and external fixator is a successful alternative for the treatment of type II traumatic pubic symphysis diastasis, which results in similar outcomes comparing to percutaneous cannulated screw fixation. High spatial resolution estimating of exposure to particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) is currently very limited in China. This study uses the newly released nationwide, hourly PM2.5 concentrations to create a nationwide, geographically weighted regression (GWR) model to estimate ground-level PM2.5 concentrations in China. A3 km resolution aerosol optical depth (AOD) product from MODIS is used as the primary predictor. Fire emissions detected by MODIS fire count were considered in the model development process. Additionally, meteorological features were used as covariates in the model to improve the estimation of ground-level PM2.5 concentrations. The model performed well and explained 81% of the daily PM2.5 concentration variations in model predictions, and the cross validations R² is 0.79. The cross-validated root mean squared error (RMSE) of the model was 18.6 μg/m³.Annual PM2.5 concentrations retrieved by the MODIS 3 km AOD product indicated that most of the residential community areas exceeded the new annual Chinese PM2.5 National Standard level 2. Estimated high-resolution national-scale daily PM2.5 maps are useful to identify severe air pollution episodes and determine health risk assessments. These results suggest that this approach is useful for estimating large-scale ground-level PM2.5 distributions, especially for regions without PM monitoring sites. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hot ductility of Nb-Ti-bearing low-carbon steels was studied. Four cooling methods were designed to investigate the influence of cooling conditions on the hot ductility at temperatures range from 650 °C to 1005 °C. Increasing the cooling rate generally deteriorates the ductility. However, the high cooling rate RA values were significantly increased when cooling was made in two steps: samples were slow cooled at high temperature zone before being cooled to the test temperatures by fast cooling. Slow cooling guaranteed relative beneficial coarse precipitates, while fast cooling was recommended for refining γ/α transformationmicrostructures. Proeutectoid ferrite film has a significant influence on the hot ductility of the steel: thicker proeutectoid ferrite film resulted in a ductility deterioration when the thickness of the ferrite film was larger than 5 μm.
