A new two-dimensional inorganic-organic hybrid ortho-phenylenediamine cobalt hypophosphite chloride, [Co(HPO)(CNH)]Cl, has been prepared by slow evaporation from an aqueous solution. It was investigated by means of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The title compound crystallise in orthorhombic space group Pbcn, with unit cell parameters at 298(1) K of a = 9.5538(19) Å, b = 9.1466(18) Å, c = 21.9222(4) Å, V = 1915.7(7) Å, Z = 2. Its structure is characterised by inorganic layers parallel to (001) of alternating CoON octahedra and HPO tetrahedra establishing eight-membered ring cavities. This mixed-polyhedral motive is decorated with the ortho-phenylenediamine ligands towards the inter-layer region thus forming a cationic organic-inorganic hybrid layer charge compensated by the chlorine anions. Infrared spectroscopy revealed absorption bands corresponding to the ortho-phenylenediamine molecule and the hypophosphite anion. The compound was proven to be stable up to 474 K under N atmosphere. For valorization and diversification of medicinal plants used in Comoros, we are interested in three species growth in this archipelago. Four essential oils were extracted from these plants and used in this study. Essential oils were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Sesquiterpene compounds are predominant inPiper borbonenseandVetiveria zizanoidesessential oils but forPiper capenseessential oil, monoterpenes are predominant. Essential oils were investigated for their fungicidal activities against four fungi decay wood:Gloeophyllum trabeum(Persoon ex Fries) Murril (ATCC 11539),Poria placenta(Fries) Cooke sensu J. Eriksson (ATCC 9891),Coniophora puteana(Schumacher ex Fries) Karsten (ATCC 9351) andCoriolus versicolor(Linnaeus) Quélet (ATCC 12679). New diphosphates AErPO, A = Rb ( 1), Cs ( 2), and HEuPO·3HO ( 3) have been prepared via soft chemistry route from evaporation of aqueous solution. Their crystal structures have been solved by single crystal diffraction data. The compounds ( 1) and ( 2) crystallize in the monoclinic space group P2/ c with the following unit cell dimensions: ( 1) a = 7.7248(4) Å, b = 10.9342(6) Å, c = 8.6716(3) Å, β = 105.434(4)° and Z = 4; ( 2) a = 7.9192(4) Å, b = 10.8606(4) Å, c = 8.7684(5) Å, β = 104.317(5)° and Z = 4. Compound ( 3) crystallises in the triclinic space group P − 1, with the unit cell parameters: a = 6.4036(5) Å, b = 6.8753(6) Å, c = 9.7964(8) Å, α = 81.706(7)°, β = 80.218(7)°, γ = 88.381(7)°. Crystal structure of ( 1) and ( 2) consists of 3D open framework built from [ErO] octahedra sharing corners with [PO] units, leading to the formation of channels running along c direction in which A [A = Rb(1), Cs(2)] ions are located. The compound ( 3), on the other hand, exhibits a lamellar structure, in which edge-sharing polyhedra of eightfold coordinated europium form chains along [010]. These chains are joined in turn to each others using diphosphates bridges. A network of O-H···O hydrogen bonds reinforces the cohesion of the structure of ( 3). The diphosphate groups in ( 1), ( 2) and ( 3) adopts an eclipsed configuration. IR and Raman spectra of the three new phosphates show usual signals related to the PO diphosphate group and the water molecule. TG and DTA studies were carried out on crystals of ( 3). The data are correlated to the crystal structures ones. Graphical Abstract: Edge-sharing [LnO] polyhedra (here Ln is Eu) lead to ladder channels in the crystal structure of HEuPO·3HO. These channels are linked through O-P-O bridges from the diphsophates groups and an intricate H-bonds network to build a lamellar structure. The present study was undertaken in normotensive anaesthetized male rats that received a continuous perfusion of a chrysin glucoside isolated from the flowers and leaves of Calycotome villosa subsp intermedia at a dose of 2.5 mg/kg, or furosemide (control diuretic) at a dose of 0.5 mg/kg. Compared with the control rats receiving NaCl (0.9%), the urine flow, glomerular filtration and electrolyte excretion (Na+, K+) increased significantly in rats treated with chrysin glucoside ( p < 0.001). A similar effect was observed in the rats perfused with furosemide. Intravenous injections of bolus doses (1-3 mg/kg) of the chrysin glucoside to anaesthetized rats elicited an immediate and dose-dependent decrease in mean arterial blood pressure (MABP). Pretreatment of the rats with the nitric oxide synthase inhibitor, l-NOArg (10 mg/kg), reduced partially, but significantly ( p < 0.01), the maximal decrease in MABP elicited by chrysin glucoside. In the rat isolated aorta preparation, chrysin glucoside (10-100 µ m) inhibited in a concentration-dependent manner the noradrenaline (1 µ m) induced contractions (IC50 = 52 µ m). This relaxant activity of chrysin glucoside was significantly reduced by incubation of the endothelium-intact rings with l-NOArg (100 µ m), (80 ± 4.7% vs 48 ± 5.06% in the absence of l-NOArg). In conclusion, these results demonstrate a diuretic and hypotensive action of a chrysin glucoside from Calycotome villosa in anaesthetized rats and indicating an action on renal function, and an active vascular relaxation mediated partially through nitric oxide release.
