He completed 32 months of NTM therapy (30 months adjusted to antibiogram of I M. simiae i ), stopping 15 months after immune reconstitution to a CD4 count over 500 cells/µL, and 24 months after negative blood cultures. Case 1 did not have WGS and thus, whilst he made a fully clinical recovery with I M. simiae i treatment, I M. sherrisii i infection cannot be excluded. Empirical treatment of MAC is typically with a macrolide and ethambutol with or without rifabutin, but due to drug resistance is inadequate therapy for I M. simiae i or I M. sherrisii i [[23]].
