This article argues that the current predominant interpretation of the use of Psalm 16 in the speech in Acts 2, namely the 'proof' from prophecy explanation, as well as the few other models which have been advanced, are unconvincing on narratival grounds. Instead, it suggests that the Psalm is primarily quoted as a rationale to explain why Jesus rose from the dead and death could not detain him – namely because of his righteousness. The article concludes by submitting that this reading sheds important new light on the meaning of the resurrection of Jesus as a divine necessity in the early kerygma in Acts. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

For the past few years, on Sundays during the Easter period, groups of Catholics fill city squares (parks, shopping centres and the like) and celebrate the liturgy giving a testimony to Christian life. Very often these places are crossroads of trade, leisure, entertainment and commute trails, hence the celebrations raise actual bewilderment in busy passers-by. Suddenly, by imposing sacral references on the spaces of the profanum, they become symbolic places, the embodiment of a living Church on the move. The article attempts to read these specific meetings in the context of cultural phenomena: a theatre play, a live performance act, flash mobs, and others. Some especially insightful and challenging passages in Evangelii Gaudium are those on the importance of a personal encounter with Jesus, the evangelizing power of popular piety, person to person witness, and the need for the power of the Holy Spirit. However, in order to do full justice to the mission of the Church, the document requires more on the priestly aspect of this mission. This element is substantially absent, in part, because of Francis's veneration of Evangelii Nuntiandi. However, this absent element can be obtained from the missiology of Lumen Gentium, John Paul II, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Based on an analysis of the meaning of leitourgia in the New Testament, this article concludes that this missing element can serve as a link between Pope Francis's kerygma and diakonia, enabling a harmony which has been missing, to greater or lesser degrees, from the Church's mission in the 20th and 21st centuries. This paper presents a kerygmatic liturgical model of catechesis as a tool, which has its place especially in the Christian initiation of the children and adults. In the first part of this article we consider the purpose and meaning of the models of catechesis. It especially focuses on the results of the work of Josef Andreas Jungmann, who is the author of the concept of kerygmatic teaching in catechesis. In the second part we present the application of Jungmanns's approach to the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program by Sofia Cavalletti and we point out the potential of this program for the renewal of catechesis of children in the Czech Republic. This paper looks into the definition of Setswana1 proverb: Moseka phofu ya gaabo ga a tshabe go swa lentswe (One must fight impatiently for what rightly belongs to him or her). The proverb is used to express the African thought of transparent dialogue that can be applied in theological deliberations; leading to sound theological conclusions adequate to address the corruption in the socio-political landscape. Transparency is explained from the African concept of addressing socio-political struggles. Theology calls for robust dialogue for the alternative society. This calls for understanding of African thought of fighting impatiently for the marginalized and the poor--a mandate that is similar to the church's calling for liberating the oppressed masses through dialogue with others and communities in context. A special exploration is made through the symbiosis of dogma and kerygma for the incessant intervention of theology on behalf of the silent masses. The present study aims to contribute to the quest for the origins of belief in the eschatological figure of the Sufyānī, a matter of hot debate since the late nineteenth century. To this end, three different bodies of evidence are produced and analysed: reports indicating that the Sufyānī was, indeed, thought of as a redemptive personality in some Syrian quarters, traditions on him in the Muslim endtimes literature that contain an ex eventu pronouncement, and reports concerning the propaganda activities of the first Sufyānī claimant, Abū Muhammad Ziyād ibn 'Abd Allāh ibn Yazīd "al-Sufyānī", in the historical record. Making use of hitherto unavailable sources and looking afresh at the previously studied sources, it is argued that the myth of the Sufyānī emerged during the counterrevolutionary revolt of Abū Muḥammad al-Sufyānī in 132 ah, with vague residues of it traceable to his earlier military activities, against the Umayyad caliph Yazīd III, in 126 ah. This essay argues that Acts is essentially kerygmatic in its literary texture and purpose. It assumes that literary purpose, even genre to some extent, can be determined by examining how language is used in two respects: (1) through the authorial voice of the narrative, and (2) by the direct speech of characters within the story. This is especially the case when there is a strong convergence in the pattern of usage in the narrative voice and the dialogical voice. Three literary aspects are investigated: (1) kerygmatic vocabulary, (2) the speeches, and (3) the expression ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ/ὁ λόγος τοῦ κυρίου. This paper contains a series of musical-rhetorical figures and the affects, particularly intended by the composer. The Gospel text included in the recitative is considered fully fulfilled by Bach's own language elements. Preliminary work in designing of this study included a diachronic analysis of the score. The later stage plays some specific elements of music, organized on a series of musical figures, all are subordinate to a single purpose -- kerygmatic message send by Jesus Christ. This article is dedicated to the study of one of most successful works of Dinu Lipatti, Sonatina for the left hand. In this work, the composer experiments how to obtain a varied and colourful discourse with few means, „in an uncomplicated and clearly organized framework" that „will always be accessible to the public“, as the composer himself says. Sensitivity and diligence transpire in the writing of this brilliant piece of „pure“Romanian folk inspiration. There are three ingeniously constructed parts, with main and secondary themes that mingle in upward and downward musical lines. In our opinion, Sonatina for the left hand belongs to the category of great value works „composed by a number of eminent composers-pianists". From ancient times, the Church struggled to maintain untouched the truth revealed in Jesus Christ. It was more than an attempt to stay firm in the kerygma of the Apostles, it was an ἐξήγησις. It was a creative and constructive affirmation of the Word, a confession begotten from the experience of communion with the Trinity. Unity in faith was basically an experience to which all Christians were called. It was essential-in the sense that it implies each person and the community-and doxological, theological and liturgical, ,,theoretical” and ascetic. Above all, unity in faith was an ecclesial experience.The present study tries to highlight the contingency between unity in faith, personal existence and intercommunities relations. The paper looks into the main logical interpretations of the phenomenon of faith in contemporary Protestant theology. The research methodology is based on the paradigmal analysis theory of theological knowledge of G. Küng and H. U. von Balthasar, which present-day co-developers are T. Rowland, F. Kerr, A. Kolodnyi, Y. Chernomorets, G. Khrystokin et al. The author draws a conclusion that contemporary Protestant theology interprets faith in a non-metaphysical and personalistic way. Thus, K. Bart perceives faith as a new way of living of an individual, that real mode of existence which existentialists distinguished from usual existence. That way of living becomes possible after an individual accepts his or her own condemnation acknowledged owing to propagation of Christian kerygma. Protestant theology of the late 20th-early 21st centuries interprets faith as commitment to the Community of God and acceptance of the biblical narrative (N. T. Wright). An alternative concept is interpretation of faith as intuitive knowledge (J. Milbank). In general, Protestant theologians describe faith as an occurrence which takes place during communication with God and as such, faith is not a result of activities of human abilities but a genuine gift from God, which the possessor can only accept and affirm. An increasing number of scholars situate the Gospel of Mark within the Pauline sphere of influence. The centrality of Mark’s Passion story may lend itself to this interpretation, and Mark’s Gospel is frequently read as a narrativization of the Pauline kerygma on the vicarious death of Jesus. I intend to challenge this academic paradigm, drawing attention to the areas where the similarities have been exaggerated or the major differences overlooked in comparisons between Paul and Mark on this theme. Against the supposition that Mark’s emphasis on the soteriological significance of the crucifixion of Jesus can only be explained with reference to Paul, I will argue that the evangelist’s social location on the margins may account for the preoccupation with the redemptive value of Jesus’ suffering. The complex relationship between Northrop Frye’s literary criticism and Christian theology is evident in Frye’s twofold approach to the dialectical theology of Karl Barth. Alvin A. Lee has rightly suggested that Frye’s writings contain an ‘implicit critique’ of Barthian neo-orthodoxy. However, there are also aspects of Barth’s thought which find analogues in Frye’s writings on literature and language. Here three initial points of contact between Frye and Barth are outlined: the passage from Barth’s analogia fidei to Frye’s Blakean analogia visionis; Barth’s doctrine of the ‘Word of God’ and its radical re-envisioning in Frye’s model of imagination, particularly in the case of the Bible; and finally, the relationship of mythology to the kerygma of Christian revelation, an area in which Frye and Barth both stress the power of the divine Logos to transform human culture. In literary approaches to the Qur'an, Qur'anic voice is relegated to the unknowability of its divine 'provenance', its issuing source of voice, which is implicitly taken to be outside of the text. The fundamental hermeneutic task, which is that of investigating how a text produces meaning, is principally a theological task, but it is assumed in most literary approaches to the Qur'an to be other than the literary critical task. And yet it is this latter task that is seen to reveal the religious meaning of the text. The Qur'an's textuality and unique naẓm may be differently conceived, not as that which is necessarily (and it is the comparative approaches that tend to produce such necessities) the result of the structures of language in the rhetorical and canonical sense, but as the texture of a voice that deploys singular and discontinuous modes of speech beyond the philological assumptions of textuality and the comparative literary assumptions of narrative. What vision of 'literature' is then projected? The theoretical move from the assumptions of textuality to the hermeneutical possibilities of voice reposits the classical Islamic approaches that viewed the Qur'an as both the eternal and temporal word of God through the projection of a fundamentally Islamic hermeneutics of proclamation. The exploration of such a hermeneutics of naẓm, it is argued here, should lead to a reconsideration of questions of the literary. The author explores the religious concept of kerygma that means proclamation or announcement with focus on unpacking the semiotic conditions under which experiences and actions can become representative of extraordinary religious revelations. He cites that sacred action is not exclusively about meanings that may express directly in speech, but rather about how one interprets particular behavioral signs. He notes the role of kerygma as a useful concept or expansion on sacred action in general.

The present study offers tentative reflections toward approaching the questions of revelation, iʿjāz, naẓm and Qur'anic voice from within modern conceptual frames of the literary and the sacred which focus not so much on the poetic and the metaphorical as on the historical. What is meant by the historical here is the locus of human experience in its receptivity to the revealed word: the response to the very fact of revelation, which turns the experience of the sacred text and its rhetorics into an experience of sacred hermeneutics - whether on the level of the individual, from within the uniqueness of each individuality, or on the level of the community of faith and the call to live by the word of revelation. The possibility of a more uniquely Islamic hermeneutics of proclamation will be explored on the level of the 'discontinuous verse'. By invoking Western traditions of interpretation and hermeneutics the present study also seeks to initiate a dialogue with Western Biblical and critical hermeneutics, with the aim of instituting a more sustained engagement with the peculiarities of Qur'anic voice that will also introduce a particular range of conceptual language not so steeped in the assumptions of Western metaphysics and speculative theologies. Within the framework of Thomas Groome's (1980) kerygma, koinonia and diakonia, a study into handing on the faith is examined. The three avenues are reconsidered through the Church, parish community events and schools. Handing on the faith becomes a holistic approach which extends to catering to the spiritual, pastoral, cultural and social aspects of young people's lives. By delivering faith filled opportunities such as rituals, reflective time, group discussions, social action and community building, it allows faith to get a hearing. The author, took part as an expert in the last Synod of Bishops on the theme of the new evangelization, examines the results of this Synod, with reference to the present renewal of the ordinary pastoral, especially related to the situation of the Italian Church. Inquiry into the content of the preaching and teaching of the early Church was commonplace in the first part of the twentieth century. Such research was carried out under a number of different headings – kerygma, catechesis, etc. – and pursued with the form-critical tools of the day. However, these reconstructions encountered serious criticism and since the 1970s such inquiries have been more reserved. Today the field is divided, if sparse, with some employing the methods and results of earlier scholarship and others all but ignoring the question entirely. The interpretation points out the function of the kerygma in some of Georges Bernanos' most famous novels. The goal is an interpellation of the transcendence as a defining difference of the interdiction: neither the already spoken, neither the gift of a speech the meaning of which is hidden in the common word. This kerygmatic (Tillich) proposal for a cosmic christology presupposes (with Sittler) that in our times the scope of christology must be as large as the whole creation. Noting a body of extant literature pertaining to the theme (Teilhard de Chardin, Tillich, Gunton, Moltmann, Fox, McFague, Edwards), this article argues that Martin Luther's 'ubiquity Christology' should receive a fresh hearing in order to broaden and deepen the current discussion, in a way that can contribute both to kerygmatic and apologetic theological constructions. Concerns of critics of Luther's ubiquity Christology are addressed and its underdeveloped character is noted, with suggestions for expanding Luther's vision. At the end, the potential ecumenical benefits of this kind of reclamation of Luther's thought are affirmed, as is the need for kerygmatic theologians to develop not only cosmic christologies, but also cosmic pneumatologies. Jesus is never explicitly identified as the ‘messiah’ or christos in Q. The conspicuous absence of this particular term—so frequently used in the Pauline letters and the Gospels—is often taken to mean that the Q community was uninterested in, unaware of and/or rejected kerygmatic traditions which understood Jesus as a ‘messianic’ figure. Yet a careful analysis of the literary structure of Q 3–7 demonstrates that the redactor of Q both appropriated and subverted ‘traditional messianic expectations’ of a popular warrior-king by framing Jesus' baptism, temptation and Inaugural Sermon within announcement and confirmation passages that serve to both affirm and qualify Jesus' relationship to ‘messianic’ traditions. Located within a text dominated by the theme of eschatological reversal, the literary structure of Q 3–7 serves as a rhetorical defense in the redactor's construction of a new identity for Jesus.
