To improve the interfacial bonding between hollow microspheres (RiM01) and natural rubber (NR), the silane coupling agents γ‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (KH550) and γ‐methacryloyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (KH570) are used in this study as intermediate reaction platforms for the modification of (RiM01) with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), respectively. In the process, GMA reacts with KH550 and KH570 through epoxy group ring‐opening and free radical polymerization, respectively. Different NR/RiM01@GMA composites are prepared by a mechanical blending method. The results show that the addition of GMA improves the interfacial bonding between RiM01 and NR, and enhances the vulcanization rate and cross‐linking degree of the rubber composites. When KH550 is used as the reaction platform, the tensile strength of the rubber composites increases by 24% compared to composites with unmodified RiM01, while when KH570 is used, the tensile strength increases by 18%. Additionally, the tear strength and abrasion resistance of the rubber composites increase by 13% and 15%, respectively, when KH570 is used as the reaction platform. At the same time, the filler‐matrix interaction is strongest when KH570 is used as the reaction platform, and the rubber composites exhibit the lowest rolling resistance and the best resistance to heat and oxygen aging. Background: The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) is a novel inflammatory marker used to assess the immune-inflammatory status of the human body. The systemic immune inflammation has an interplay and mutual relationship with neurological disorders. Serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) is widely regarded as a potential biomarker for various neurological diseases. The study aimed to examine the association between SII and sNfL. Methods: This cross-sectional investigation was conducted in a population with complete data on SII and sNfL from the 2013-2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). The SII was calculated by dividing the product of platelet count and neutrophil count by the lymphocyte count. Multivariate linear regression models and smooth curves were used to explore the linear connection between SII and sNfL. Sensitivity analyses, interaction tests, and diabetes subgroup smoothing curve fitting were also performed. Results: A total of 2,025 participants were included in our present research. SII showed a significant positive association with the natural logarithm-transformed sNfL (ln-sNfL) in crude model [0.17 (0.07, 0.28)], partially adjusted model [0.13 (0.03, 0.22)], and fully adjusted model [0.12 (0.02, 0.22)]. In all participants, the positive association between SII and ln-sNfL served as a linear relationship, as indicated by a smooth curve. Interaction tests showed that age, gender, BMI, hypertension, and diabetes did not have a significant impact on this positive association (p for interaction >0.05). The subgroup analysis of diabetes was conducted using smooth curve fitting. It was found that compared to the group without diabetes and the group in a pre-diabetic state, the effect was more pronounced in the group with diabetes. Conclusion: Our findings suggest that there is a positive association between SII and sNfL. Furthermore, in comparison to individuals without diabetes and those in a pre-diabetic state, the positive association between SII and sNfL was more pronounced in individuals with diabetes. Background: Patients who were infected by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) could have weakened immunity that is complicated by opportunistic infections, especially for Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Notably, the HIV-MTB co-infection will accelerate the course of disease progress and greatly increase the mortality of patients. Since the traditional diagnostic methods are time-consuming and have low sensitivity, we aim to investigate the performance of mNGS (metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing) and mNPS (metagenomic NanoPore Sequencing) for the rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis in HIV-infected patients. Methods: The 122 HIV-infected patients were enrolled for the retrospective analysis. All of the patients underwent traditional microbiological tests, mNGS, and (or) mNPS tests. The clinical comprehensive diagnosis was used as the reference standard to compare the diagnostic performance of culture, mNGS, and mNPS on tuberculosis. We also investigate the diagnostic value of mNGS and mNPS on mixed-infection. Furthermore, the treatment adjustment directed by mNGS and mNPS was analyzed. Results: Compared with the composite reference standard, the culture showed 42.6% clinical sensitivity and 100% specificity, and the OMT(other microbiological testing) had 38.9% sensitivity and 100% specificity. The mNGS had 58.6% clinical sensitivity and 96.8% specificity, and the mNPS had 68.0% clinical sensitivity and 100% specificity. The proportion of mixed-infection cases (88.9%) in the TB group was higher than those in the non-TB group (54.8%) and the mNGS and mNPS are more competitive on mixed-infection diagnosis compared with the traditional methods. Furthermore, there are 63 patients (69.2%) and 36 patients (63.2%) achieved effective treatment after receiving the detection of mNPS and mNGS, respectively. Conclusion: Our study indicated that mNPS and mNGS have high sensitivity and specificity for TB diagnosis compared with the traditional methods, and mNPS seems to have better diagnostic performance than mNGS. Moreover, mNGS and mNPS showed apparent advantages in detecting mixed infection. Graves' disease is a common condition that is diagnosed clinically by determining the smoothness of the thyroid texture and its morphology in ultrasound images. Currently, the most widely used approach for the automated diagnosis of Graves' disease utilizes Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) for both feature extraction and classification. However, these methods demonstrate limited efficacy in capturing texture features. Given the high capacity of wavelets in describing texture features, this research integrates learnable wavelet modules utilizing the Lifting Scheme into CNNs and incorporates a parallel wavelet branch into the ResNet18 model to enhance texture feature extraction. Our model can analyze texture features in spatial and frequency domains simultaneously, leading to optimized classification accuracy. We conducted experiments on collected ultrasound datasets and publicly available natural image texture datasets, our proposed network achieved 97.27% accuracy and 95.60% recall on ultrasound datasets, 60.765% accuracy on natural image texture datasets, surpassing the accuracy of ResNet and confirming the effectiveness of our approach. Background Marital status is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) incidence and overall mortality, yet limited research on this topic in elderly individuals is available. Our aim was to comprehensively assess the impact of marital status and other family factors on CVD incidence and long-term mortality among elderly people. Methods Data from the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (2002/2005/2008–2018) for participants aged ≥60 years were analysed. A cross-sectional study initially examined the correlation between spouses, offspring, living arrangements, and CVD using logistic regression. Subsequently, a retrospective cohort study investigated the long-term associations of these factors with overall mortality via Kaplan–Meier and Cox regression analyses. Results The study involved 48 510 subjects (average age: 87 years). The cross-sectional analysis revealed a correlation between living with a spouse and an increased incidence of heart disease (adjusted OR 1.27, 95% CI 1.04–1.55) and cerebrovascular disease/stroke (adjusted OR 1.26, 95% CI 1.11–1.42). According to the retrospective cohort analysis, living with a spouse significantly reduced overall mortality (adjusted HR 0.84, 95% CI 0.80–0.87), irrespective of marital relationship quality. Conversely, living with offspring (adjusted HR 1.12, 95% CI 1.08–1.16), having more children (adjusted Pnonlinearity = 0.427) or cohabitants (adjusted Pnonlinearity < 0.0001) were associated with increased overall mortality. Conclusion In the elderly population, being married and living with a spouse were not significantly associated with a decrease in CVD incidence but were associated with a reduction in long-term overall mortality. Living with offspring, having more children, or having a larger family size did not replicate the protective effect but indicated greater overall mortality. RAS GTPases associate with the biological membrane where they function as molecular switches to regulate cell growth. Recent studies indicate that RAS proteins oligomerize on membranes, and disrupting these assemblies represents an alternative therapeutic strategy. However, conflicting reports on RAS assemblies, ranging in size from dimers to nanoclusters, have brought to the fore key questions regarding the stoichiometry and parameters that influence oligomerization. Here, we probe three isoforms of RAS [Kirsten Rat Sarcoma viral oncogene (KRAS), Harvey Rat Sarcoma viral oncogene (HRAS), and Neuroblastoma oncogene (NRAS)] directly from membranes using mass spectrometry. We show that KRAS on membranes in the inactive state (GDP-bound) is monomeric but forms dimers in the active state (GTP-bound). We demonstrate that the small molecule BI2852 can induce dimerization of KRAS, whereas the binding of effector proteins disrupts dimerization. We also show that RAS dimerization is dependent on lipid composition and reveal that oligomerization of NRAS is regulated by palmitoylation. By monitoring the intrinsic GTPase activity of RAS, we capture the emergence of a dimer containing either mixed nucleotides or GDP on membranes. We find that the interaction of RAS with the catalytic domain of Son of Sevenless (SOScat) is influenced by membrane composition. We also capture the activation and monomer to dimer conversion of KRAS by SOScat. These results not only reveal the stoichiometry of RAS assemblies on membranes but also uncover the impact of critical factors on oligomerization, encompassing regulation by nucleotides, lipids, and palmitoylation. The introduction of anti-tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) biologics significantly innovated inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) treatment and increased medical costs. The recent expiration of patents of some anti-TNFα biologics (such as infliximab and adalimumab) facilitated the development of biosimilars. Comparable pharmacokinetic, efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity profiles between anti-TNFα originators and biosimilars were demonstrated in different studies. Anti-TNFα biosimilars hold promise for reducing the high cost of biologics and increasing patient access to biologics. In this review, we outline the current data on the use of anti-TNFα originators and biosimilars in patients with IBD, with a focus on the efficacy, safety, and immunogenicity profiles of infliximab and adalimumab biosimilars. VW63Z magnesium alloy, known for its high strength-to-weight ratio and excellent mechanical properties, is a promising candidate for applications in the automotive industries. Among the anti-corrosion technologies for VW63Z alloys, organic electrophoretic coatings have gained significant attention due to their ability to provide a uniform and controlled coating thickness, high coating adhesion, and excellent corrosion protection properties. In this work, to investigate the aging behaviors of an organic electrophoretic coating for magnesium alloys, water absorption kinetics curves of the coatings after immersion in 3.5 wt.% NaCl at 20 °C and 40 °C were measured, and parameters such as the saturated water absorption and saturation time of the free film coatings were fitted to determine the densification evolution of the organic coatings. A tensile test was used to test the tensile strength of the organic coating during service to determine the evolution of the strength and toughness of the organic coating. The evolution of wet adhesion of organic coatings with service time was tested by ASTM D4541-02. The impedance spectra of the organic coatings under the above conditions were detected by EIS, and finally, the failure behavior of the organic coatings under immersion was analyzed. Objective: Rare disease Background: Facet joint septic arthritis (SAFJ) is a rare clinical entity that is extremely challenging to diagnose, often presenting unilaterally and with nonspecific clinical symptoms. However, SAFJ has significant morbidity and mortality, especially with delayed diagnosis. It becomes all the more important for the clinician to recognize that SAFJ can present bilaterally and be associated with direct inoculation, such as in acupuncture. Case Report: A 53-year-old woman with chronic alcoholism and well-controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus was initially admitted for progressively worsening atraumatic lower back pain. Initial non-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the lumbar spine revealed bilateral L4-L5 and L5-S1 nonspecific facet joint effusions. Clinical examination was unremarkable. Biochemically, the patient had mildly elevated inflammatory markers. She was treated conservatively with close outpatient follow-up. However, her back pain progressively worsened, with new-onset lower limb weakness and numbness. Repeat MRI showed L4-L5 bilateral facet joint fluid collection with adjacent bony destruction, as well as posterior paraspinal and epidural fluid collections compatible with L4-L5 bilateral SAFJ with paraspinal and epidural abscesses. Urgent surgical drainage and bilateral lateral facet decompression was performed. Intraoperative cultures revealed methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus as the causative organism. Postoperatively, 6 weeks of intravenous and oral antibiotics were given with good recovery. Conclusions: We describe a case of bilateral SAFJ following acupuncture that was initially missed. With the increasing prevalence of acupuncture treatment for lower back pain, bilateral SAFJ should be a diagnostic consideration. Background: The lower limb motor dysfunction caused by stroke is one of the main sequelae affecting patients' ability to live normally in the later period. Acupuncture treatment of limb movement dysfunction after stroke has been recommended by authoritative guidelines for reducing limb spasticity, enhancing limb strength and so on. However, the efficacy of different acupuncture methods in treating lower limb motor dysfunction after stroke remains controversial. Objective: In this paper, network meta-analysis (NMA) was used to prioritize various acupuncture intervention combinations commonly used in clinical practice, try to screen the acupuncture intervention scheme with the highest clinical efficacy and safety, and explore its rationality in guiding clinical practice. Methods: We searched a total of 4,312 studies from 8 databases and 2 clinical trial registries, and selected 43 articles for systematic review. We used pairwise meta-analysis and network meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and ranking of various acupuncture interventions. At the same time, the risk of bias, publication bias, and sensitivity of included randomized controlled trials were analyzed. The main outcome indicator was Fugl-Meyer assessment of lower extremity (FMA-LE), and the secondary outcome indicators were Modified Barthel Index (MBI), Berg balance scale (BBS) and Modified Ashworth scale (MAS). Results: A total of 4,134 patients in 43 studies were included. The intervention included 9 acupuncture-related treatments, of which 20.9% were classified as high-risk. Among the four outcome indicators in pairwise meta-analysis, the effect of body acupuncture combined with conventional rehabilitation has the highest comprehensive credibility in terms of efficacy and safety comparing with conventional rehabilitation [SMD= 1.14, 95%CI (0.81, 1.46)], [SMD= 1.35, 95%CI (0.97, 1.72)], [SMD= 1.22, 95%CI (0.39, 2.05)], [SMD= 1.21, 95%CI (0.74, 1.44)]. In addition, multiple intervention methods, for example, warm acupuncture plus rehabilitation treatment for MBI and electroacupuncture plus body acupuncture plus rehabilitation treatment for BBS, may increase certain additional effects on different outcome indicators. Conclusion: This study proves that body acupuncture combined with rehabilitation treatment is the most widely used intervention method with the highest evidence quality in the treatment of lower limb motor dysfunction after stroke. Background: The intrusion of maxillary anterior teeth is often required and there are various intrusion modes with mini-implants in clear aligner treatment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of maxillary anterior teeth intrusion with different intrusion modes, aiming to provide references for precise and safe intrusion movements in clinical practice. Methods: Cone-beam computed tomography and intraoral optical scanning data of a patient were collected. Finite element models of the maxilla, maxillary dentition, periodontal ligaments (PDLs), clear aligner (CA), attachments, and mini-implants were established. Different intrusion modes of the maxillary anterior teeth were simulated by changing the mini-implant site (between central incisors, between central and lateral incisor, between lateral incisor and canine), loading site (between central incisors, on central incisor, between central and lateral incisor, between lateral incisor and canine), and loading mode (labial loading and labiolingual loading). Ten conditions were generated and intrusive forces of 100 g were applied totally. Then displacement tendency of the maxillary anterior teeth and CA, and stress of the PDLs were analyzed. Results: For the central incisor under condition L14 and for the canine under conditions L11, L13, L23, and L33, the intrusion amount was negative. Under other conditions, the intrusion amount was positive. The labiolingual angulation of maxillary anterior teeth exhibited positive changes under all conditions, with greater changes under linguoincisal loading. The mesiodistal angulation of canine exhibited positive changes under labial loading, while negative changes under linguoincisal loading except for condition L14. Conclusions: The intrusion amount, labiolingual and mesiodistal angulations of the maxillary anterior teeth were affected by the mini-implant site, loading site, and loading mode. Labial and linguoincisal loading may have opposite effects on the intrusion amount of maxillary anterior teeth and the mesiodistal angulation of canine. This paper innovatively proposes a method of 180 °C high-temperature stirring pretreatment for waste rubber particles and compares this method with untreated, NaOH-treated, and silane coupling agent KH570-treated waste rubber particles. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, water contact angle measurement, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray study are used to investigate the effects and mechanisms of different pretreatment methods on waste rubber particles. The results indicate that compared to NaOH-treated and KH570-treated waste rubber particles, the 180 °C high-temperature-stirred pretreated waste rubber particles show significantly improved cleanliness and form a hard oxide film. The study also investigates the effects of different pretreatment methods on the mechanical properties and interface binding performance of rubber concrete made from pretreated waste rubber particles. The results demonstrate that rubber concrete prepared using 180 °C high-temperature-stirred pretreated waste rubber particles substituting 20% fine aggregate exhibits the best mechanical properties and interface bonding performance. The compressive strength recovery rates after 7 and 28 days are 41.6% and 37.3%, respectively; the split tensile strength recovery rates are 47.3% and 60.6%; the axial compressive strength recovery rates are 34.1% and 18.8%; and the static compression moduli of elasticity recovery rates are 46.8% and 26.3%. High-temperature stirring pretreatment of waste rubber particles is simple to operate and suitable for scaled production. Its pretreatment effect is superior to those of the KH570 and NaOH methods, providing a reference value for the scalable application of waste rubber particles as a substitute for fine aggregate in rubber concrete. Swash flow poses a significant hazard to pedestrians standing on the slope of the seawall. Unlike the forces of overtopping flow or open channel flow on the human body, which have been studied before, swash flow has two distinct cycles within one wave period: onshore flow and offshore flow. Both cycles can risk human safety by exerting hydrodynamic forces on the body. This paper presents a numerical study to examine the hydrodynamic forces exerted on the human body when subjected to swash flow on a smooth and impermeable slope. A Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) model is set up in OpenFOAM, where the numerical results are compared with experimental data obtained from wave tank tests. Reasonable agreement has been achieved, which validates the numerical model. We examine the kinematics of swash flow generated by plunging and surging breakers. In the case of a plunging breaker, we observe that the instantaneous runup height exhibited asymmetry, whereas it is nearly symmetric for a surging breaker. The velocity profile is then used to compute the momentum flux of the swash flow, which is shown to be associated with the inline forces exerted on the human body. We have defined an instability index to assess the risk of pedestrian mobilisation by swash flow, demonstrating its dependence on the Iribarren number and the body's position. The analysis reveals that the associated risk is substantially reduced as the Iribarren number increases and when the body moves towards the shoreline. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Nitrogen permease regulator-like 2 (NPRL2/TUSC4) is known to exert both tumor-suppressing and oncogenic effects in different types of cancers, suggesting that its actions are context dependent. Here, we delineated the molecular and functional effects of NPRL2 in malignantly transformed bronchial epithelial cells. To do so, we depleted NPRL2 in oncogenic HRas-transduced and malignantly transformed human bronchial epithelial (BEAS2B), Ras-AI-T2 cells. Intriguingly, depletion of NPRL2 in these cells induced activation of mTORC1 downstream signaling, inhibited autophagy, and impaired Ras-AI-T2 cell proliferation both in vitro and in vivo. These results suggest that NPRL2 is required for oncogenic HRas-induced cell transformation. Depletion of NPRL2 increased levels of the DNA damage marker γH2AX, the cell cycle inhibitors p21 and p27, and the apoptosis marker cleaved-PARP. These NPRL2-depleted cells first accumulated at G1 and G2, and later exhibited signs of mitotic catastrophe, which implied that NPRL2 depletion may be detrimental to oncogenic HRas-transformed cells. Additionally, NPRL2 depletion reduced heat shock factor 1/heat shock element- and NRF2/antioxidant response element-directed luciferase reporter activities in Ras-AI-T2 cells, indicating that NPRL2 depletion led to the suppression of two key cytoprotective processes in oncogenic HRas-transformed cells. Overall, our data suggest that oncogenic HRas-transduced and malignantly transformed cells may depend on NPRL2 for survival and proliferation, and depletion of NPRL2 also induces a stressed state in these cells. So far, the physiological and molecular mechanisms of the impact of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) on Cd absorption, transport and detoxification in Ipomoea aquatica (water spinach) are still unclear. In the present study, a pot experiment was performed to investigate the impact of AMF-Glomus versiforme (Gv) on the photosynthetic characteristics, Cd uptake, antioxidative system and transcriptome in water spinach in the soils supplemented with 5 mg Cd kg−1. Gv inoculation improved significantly the photosynthetic characteristics and growth of water spinach. Furthermore, Gv colonization significantly promoted the activities of catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) and glutathione reductase (GR), contents of glutathione (GSH) and ascorbic acid (AsA), and the total antioxidant capacity (TCA), but decreased malondialdehyde (MDA) content in water spinach. In addition, Gv inoculation significantly increased pH in rhizosphere soils and decreased the Cd concentrations and uptakes in water spinach. Importantly, 2670 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were screened in water spinach root colonized with Gv in 5 mg Cd kg−1 soil, of which 2008 DEGs were upregulated and 662 DEGs were downregulated. Especially, the expression levels of POD, CAT, GR, dehydroascorbate reductase 2 (DHAR2), glutathione S-transferase U8 (GSTU8) and glutathione synthetase (GSHS) and cytochrome P450 (Cyt P450) genes were significantly up-regulated in water spinach inoculated with Gv. Meanwhile, the plant cadmium resistance protein 2 (PCR2), metal tolerance protein 4 (MTP4), ATP-binding cassette transporter C family member (ABCC), ABC-yeast cadmium factor 1 (ABC-YCF1) and metallothionein (MT) genes were also up-regulated in mycorrhizal water spinach. Pyruvate lies at a pivotal node of carbon metabolism in eukaryotes. It is involved in diverse metabolic pathways in multiple organelles, and its interorganelle shuttling is crucial for cell fitness. Many apicomplexan parasites harbor a unique organelle called the apicoplast that houses metabolic pathways like fatty acid and isoprenoid precursor biosyntheses, requiring pyruvate as a substrate. However, how pyruvate is supplied in the apicoplast remains enigmatic. Here, deploying the zoonotic parasite Toxoplasma gondii as a model apicomplexan, we identified two proteins residing in the apicoplast membranes that together constitute a functional apicoplast pyruvate carrier (APC) to mediate the import of cytosolic pyruvate. Depletion of APC results in reduced activities of metabolic pathways in the apicoplast and impaired integrity of this organelle, leading to parasite growth arrest. APC is a pyruvate transporter in diverse apicomplexan parasites, suggesting a common strategy for pyruvate acquisition by the apicoplast in these clinically relevant intracellular pathogens. Little information is available on the influence of the compound use of intercropping (IN) and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF) on Cd accumulation and the expression of Cd transporter genes in two intercropped plants. A pot experiment was conducted to study the influences of IN and AMF-Glomus versiforme on growth and Cd uptake of two intercropped plants-maize and Cd hyperaccumulator Sphagneticola calendulacea, and the expression of Cd transporter genes in maize in Cd-polluted soils. IN, AMF and combined treatments of IN and AMF (IN + AMF) obviously improved biomass, photosynthesis and total antioxidant capacities of two plants. Moreover, single and compound treatments of IN and AMF evidently reduced Cd contents in maize, and the greatest decreases appeared in the compound treatment. However, Cd contents of S. calendulacea in IN, AMF and IN + AMF groups were notably improved. Furthermore, the single and compound treatments of IN and AMF significantly downregulated the expression levels of Nramp1, HMA1, ABCC1 and ABCC10 in roots and leaves, and the largest decreases were observed in the combined treatment. Our work first revealed that the combined use of IN and AMF appeared to have a synergistic effect on decreasing Cd content by downregulating the expression of Cd transporter genes in maize. Eukaryotic cells possess multiple mechanisms of self‐destruction, including pyroptosis and necroptosis. Pyroptosis is a type of programmed cell death characterized by cellular rupture and linked to inflammation. SnoRNA, a small non‐coding RNA in the nucleolus, can dysregulate specific RNAs through 2'‐O‐methylation, contributing to tumorigenesis. Our StarBase and qRT‐PCR analysis revealed SNORD99 upregulation in endometrial cancer (EC) tissue compared to normal tissue, suggesting its role in pathogenesis. SNORD99 overexpression enhanced migration and proliferation of EC cells, while ASO‐mediated suppression reduced malignant cell spread and division. RNA‐seq and base‐comparing analysis identified GSDMD's differential expression upon SNORD99 overexpression, forming the SNORD99‐FBL RNP complex. RTL‐P experiments showed SNORD99 increased GSDMD's 2'‐O‐methylation. SNORD99 reduced GSDMD, caspase‐1, and NLRP3 protein levels, implicating its role in pyroptosis. Optical and electron microscopy confirmed enhanced pyroptosis features. In summary, SNORD99 modifies GSDMD via 2'‐O‐methylation, suppressing pyroptosis and promoting EC progression. Introduction: The finding that familiarity can support associative memory by unitizing the to -be-learned items into a novel representation has been widely accepted, but its effects on overall performance of associative memory and recollection are still controversial. Methods: The current study aims to elucidate these discrepancies by identifying potential moderating factors through a combined approach of meta-analysis and behavioral experiment. Results: Results consistently showed that changes in the level of unitization and age groups were two important moderators. Specifically, unitization enhanced younger and older adults' associative memory and its supporting processes (i.e., familiarity and recollection) when the level of unitization between studied and rearranged pairs was changed. However, when this level remained constant, unitization exhibited no impact on associative memory and familiarity in younger adults, but showed an enhanced effect in older adults. Furthermore, results revealed a marked group difference between younger and older adults in associative memory when the unitization level of noncompound words remained unaltered. Upon breaking this condition, the group difference was reduced by enhancing familiarity or recollection. Discussion: These findings not only clarify some of the inconsistencies in the literature concerning the impact of unitization on associative memory, but also suggest that unitization is a beneficial strategy for reducing group difference in associative memory, with its effectiveness varying according to the level of unitization changes. Patients with hematologic malignancies (HMs) are at a significantly higher risk of contracting COVID-19 and experiencing severe outcomes compared to individuals without HMs. This heightened risk is influenced by various factors, including the underlying malignancy, immunosuppressive treatments, and patient-related factors. Notably, immunosuppressive regimens commonly used for HM treatment can lead to the depletion of B cells and T cells, which is associated with increased COVID-19-related complications and mortality in these patients. As the pandemic transitions into an endemic state, it remains crucial to acknowledge and address the ongoing risk for individuals with HMs. In this review, we aim to summarize the current evidence to enhance our understanding of the impact of HMs on COVID-19 risks and outcomes, identify particularly vulnerable individuals, and emphasize the need for specialized clinical attention and management. Furthermore, the impaired immune response to COVID-19 vaccination observed in these patients underscores the importance of implementing additional mitigation strategies. This may include targeted prophylaxis and treatment with antivirals and monoclonal antibodies as indicated. To provide practical guidance and considerations, we present two illustrative cases to highlight the real-life challenges faced by physicians caring for patients with HMs, emphasizing the need for individualized management based on disease severity, type, and the unique circumstances of each patient. The development of a methodology for synthesizing value‐added urea (CO(NH2)2) via a renewable electricity‐driven C−N coupling reaction under mild conditions is highly anticipated. However, the complex catalytic active sites that act on the carbon and nitrogen species make the reaction mechanism unclear, resulting in a low efficiency of C−N coupling from the co‐reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) and nitrate (NO3−). Herein, we propose a novel tandem catalyst of Mo‐PCN‐222(Co), in which the Mo sites serve to facilitate nitrate reduction to the *NH2 intermediate, while the Co sites enhance CO2 reduction to carbonic oxide (CO), thus synergistically promoting C−N coupling. The synthesized Mo‐PCN‐222(Co) catalyst exhibited a noteworthy urea yield rate of 844.11 mg h−1 g−1, alongside a corresponding Faradaic efficiency of 33.90 % at −0.4 V vs. reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE). By combining in situ spectroscopic techniques with density functional theory calculations, we demonstrate that efficient C−N coupling is attributed to a tandem system in which the *NH2 and *CO intermediates produced by the Mo and Co active sites of Mo‐PCN‐222(Co) stabilize the formation of the *CONH2 intermediate. The topic of multimodal conversation systems has recently garnered significant attention across various industries, including travel and retail, among others. While pioneering works in this field have shown promising performance, they often focus solely on context information at the utterance level, overlooking the context-aware dependencies of multimodal semantic elements like words and images. Furthermore, the ordinal information of images, which indicates the relevance between visual context and users' demands, remains underutilized during the integration of visual content. Additionally, the exploration of how to effectively utilize corresponding attributes provided by users when searching for desired products is still largely unexplored. To address these challenges, we propose PMATE, a Position-aware Multimodal diAlogue system with semanTic Elements. Specifically, to obtain semantic representations at the element level, we first unfold the multimodal historical utterances and devise a position-aware multimodal element-level encoder. This component considers all images that may be relevant to the current turn and introduces a novel position-aware image selector to choose related images before fusing the information from the two modalities. Finally, we present a knowledge-aware two-stage decoder and an attribute-enhanced image searcher for the tasks of generating textual responses and selecting image responses, respectively. We extensively evaluate our model on two large-scale multimodal dialogue datasets, and the results of our experiments demonstrate that our approach outperforms several baseline methods. Nanoscaled metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have great prospects in drug delivery. As a unique architecture, MOF-on-MOF has emerged as a promising strategy to enhance drug loading and release efficacy. Herein, a ZIF-8-on-ZIF-8 nanoplatform has been fabricated via the MOF-on-MOF strategy for doxorubicin (DOX) loading, resulting in a core–shell hierarchical nanostructure (DOX@ZIF-8-on-ZIF-8, DZZ). This unique nanoplatform exhibited pH and GSH dual-responsive DOX-releasing behavior, which are features of the tumor microenvironment (TME). Compared to monolayer DOX-encapsulated monolayer ZIF-8 (DOX@ZIF-8, DZ), DZZ can significantly increase the drug loading efficiency (DLE) by 56-fold, increase drug encapsulation efficiency (DEE) by 25-fold, enhance the penetration depth of DOX, and improve the selective inhibition on breast cancer 4T1 cells both in vitro and in vivo. The aim of this study is to explore a method for modifying waste brick powder (WBP) in order to reapply it to rubber products for effective resource recycling. Firstly, we use the auto polymerization of catechol/polyamine (CPA) on the surface of WBP to form a poly catechol/polyamine (PCPA) coating as an intermediate reaction platform. And then the macromolecular modifier, epoxy-functionalized elastomer (ethylene vinyl acetate-glycidyl methacrylate terpolymer) (EVMG), is further grafted onto the PCPA coating to prepare the WBP@EVMG hybrid materials. During the preparation of the WBP@EVMG hybrid materials, a ring-opening reaction between the amine group of PCPA and the epoxy group of EVMG occurs. The NR/WBP@EVMG composites are prepared by mechanical blending. The interfacial interactions between WBP@EVMG and NR are analyzed and verified in detail by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and rubber process analyzer (RPA). It is shown that the modified NR/WBP composites show increased vulcanization rate and better mechanical properties, and the tensile strength, abrasion resistance, cracking strength, and wet slip resistance of NR/WBP@EVMG-15 are increased by 29%, 6%, 16%, and 11%, respectively, compared with that of NR/WBP composites, which provides a unique idea for the reuse of waste brick powder in rubber. Abstract: In order to isolate cellulase-producing bacteria from the overrotten soil and further study the cellulose degradation ability of the strain, a wild cellulose-degrading strain ZG2-3 was screened by using the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) - congo red staining method. Then, the 16 S rRNA molecular identification was used to identify the species, and four commercial cellulose-degrading bacteria strains were screened from the promoting-decomposing agent. Last, the enzyme activity differences between the wild cellulose-degrading bacteria and the commercial cellulose-degrading bacteria were compared. The results showed that one strain of bacteria with high cellulose degradation ability, ZG2-3, was screened by using the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) - congo red staining method, which was collected and isolated from the overrotten soil under the osmanthus forest in Zhushan Park, Loudi City. ZG2-3 was identified as Bacillus subtilis. The carboxymethyl cellulase (CMCase) activity and filter paper enzyme (FPA) activity of ZG2-3 were 0.054 IU·mL-1 and 0.02 IU·mL-1, respectively, and the CMCase activity of ZG2-3 was significantly higher than that of the commercial cellulose-degrading bacteria. The placenta plays a crucial role in successful mammalian reproduction. Ruminant animals possess a semi-invasive placenta characterized by a highly vascularized structure formed by maternal endometrial caruncles and fetal placental cotyledons, essential for full-term fetal development. The cow placenta harbors at least two trophoblast cell populations: uninucleate (UNC) and binucleate (BNC) cells. However, the limited capacity to elucidate the transcriptomic dynamics of the placental natural environment has resulted in a poor understanding of both the molecular and cellular interactions between trophoblast cells and niches, and the molecular mechanisms governing trophoblast differentiation and functionalization. To fill this knowledge gap, we employed Stereo-seq to map spatial gene expression patterns at near single-cell resolution in the cow placenta at 90 and 130 days of gestation, attaining high-resolution, spatially resolved gene expression profiles. Based on clustering and cell marker gene expression analyses, key transcription factors, including YBX1 and NPAS2, were shown to regulate the heterogeneity of trophoblast cell subpopulations. Cell communication and trajectory analysis provided a framework for understanding cell-cell interactions and the differentiation of trophoblasts into BNCs in the placental microenvironment. Differential analysis of cell trajectories identified a set of genes involved in regulation of trophoblast differentiation. Additionally, spatial modules and co-variant genes that help shape specific tissue structures were identified. Background and Aim: Patients with cholelithiasis (CL) or cholecystectomy (CE) would have more chances of getting colorectal adenoma (CRA) or cancer (CRC). We aimed to figure out the effects of gut microbiota and bile acid on colorectal neoplasm in CL and CE patients. Methods: This was a retrospective observational study that recruited 514 volunteers, including 199 people with normal gallbladders (normal), 152 CL, and 163 CE patients. Discovery cohort was established to explore the difference in gut microbiota through 16S rRNA and metagenomics sequencing. Validation cohort aimed to verify the results through quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Results: Significant enrichment of Escherichia coli was found in patients with cholelithiasis or cholecystectomy both in the discovery cohort (16S rRNA sequencing, PNormal‐CL = 0.013, PNormal‐CE = 0.042; metagenomics sequencing, PNormal‐CE = 0.026) and validation cohort (PNormal‐CL < 0.0001, PNormal‐CE < 0.0001). Pks+E. coli was found enriched in CL and CE patients through qPCR (in discovery cohort: PNormal‐CE = 0.018; in validation cohort: PNormal‐CL < 0.0001, PNormal‐CE < 0.0001). The differences in bile acid metabolism were found both through Tax4Fun analysis of 16S rRNA sequencing (Ko00120, primary bile acid biosynthesis, PNormal‐CE = 0.014; Ko00121, secondary bile acid biosynthesis, PNormal‐CE = 0.010) and through metagenomics sequencing (map 00121, PNormal‐CE = 0.026). The elevation of serum total bile acid of CE patients was also found in validation cohort (PNormal‐CE < 0.0001). The level of serum total bile acid was associated with the relative abundance of pks+E. coli (r = 0.1895, P = 0.0012). Conclusions: E. coli, especially pks+ species, was enriched in CL and CE patients. Pks+E. coli and bile acid metabolism were found associated with CRA and CRC in people after cholecystectomy. Parrots are traded globally and pose a substantial risk for disease transmission involving parrot-specific pathogens. Parrot bornavirus (PaBV) belongs to the Bornaviridae family and encompasses two clades: alphapsittaciforme (PaBV-1 to -4, PaBV-7, and -8) and betapsittaciforme (PaBV-5 and PaBV-6). These clades cause proventricular dilatation disease, a chronic disease affecting all parrot species. PaBV infections can persist for varying durations in parrots, but the transmission routes are still not well understood. Therefore, surveillance of PaBV-infected parrots is necessary for disease control and improving psittacine aviculture. This study used isolated PaBV-4 NTUCL7 and PaBV-5 NTUCL54 strains to establish and validate two serological diagnostic methods: immunoblotting (IB) and immunocytochemical staining (ICC). To determine the prevalence of PaBV in parrots in Taiwan, 370 clinical serum samples were collected from 13 collaborative veterinary hospitals during a 1-year surveillance period. Serological surveillance revealed a seropositivity rate of 25.68%. Among the seropositive samples, 91.58% were infected with alphapsittaciforme PaBV, demonstrating the predominance of this viral clade in parrots. An analysis of risk factors also demonstrated an association between seropositivity and parrot genera, age, and clinical signs. Cohen's kappa coefficient analysis showed a high degree of similarity (kappa value = 0.975) between the IB and ICC results, which shows that these serological diagnostic measures are robust. This study established two reliable serological diagnostic measures that are instrumental in serological surveillance, particularly in one of the major parrot-exporting regions. The surveillance results increase the understanding of PaBV infection and associated risk factors and allow methods to be devised for the conservation and protection of parrot populations. In the domain of high-performance engineering polymers, the enhancement of mechanical flexibility in poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS) resins has long posed a significant challenge. A novel molecular structure, designated as PP-He-IS, wherein imide rings and an aliphatic hexylene chain are covalently incorporated into the PPS backbone to enhance its flexibility, is introduced in this study. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are employed to systematically explore the effects of diversifying the backbone chain structures by substituting phenyl units with alkyl chains of varying lengths, referred to as PP-A-IS where "A" signifies the distinct intermediary alkyl chain configurations. Computational analyses reveal a discernable decrement in the glass transition temperature (Tg) and elastic modulus, counterbalanced by an increment in yield strength as the alkyl chain length is extended. Notably, the PP-He-IS variant is shown to exhibit superior yield strength while simultaneously maintaining reduced elastic modulus and Tg values, positioning it as an advantageous candidate for flexible PPS applications. Mesoscopic analyses further indicate that structures such as PP-He-IS, PP-Pe-IS, and PP-Bu-IS manifest remarkable flexibility, attributable to the presence of freely rotatable carbon-carbon single bonds. Experimental validation confirms that a melting temperature of 504 K which is lower than that of conventional PPS, and lower crystallinity are exhibited by PP-He-IS, thereby affording enhanced processability without compromising inherent thermal stability. Novel insights into the strategic modification of PPS for mechanical flexibility are thus furnished by this study, which also accentuates the pivotal role played by molecular dynamics simulations in spearheading high-throughput investigations in polymer material modifications. Determining the timing of fracturing is crucial for understanding reservoir evolution and hydrocarbon accumulation in foreland basins. Using fracturing data from cores, borehole images, and outcrops, combined with the clumped isotope (γ47) and fluid inclusion analyses of carbonate minerals filled in pores and fractures, this study ascertained the fracturing timing of the Jurassic reservoirs in the Dibei-Tuziluoke Gas Field, Kuqa Foreland Basin. Data from outcrops and borehole images show two dominant fracture sets in the study area: W-E and NE-SW striking fractures. Some W-E striking fractures are carbonate-filled, while NE-SW striking fractures lack mineral fillings. Bitumen veins, not easy to be identified in borehole images, are prevalent in cores. The petrographic analysis reveals that these bitumen veins formed before the calcite cementation in pores and display high viscosity and low maturity. Homogenization temperatures (Th) from primary fluid inclusion assemblages in two representative calcite vein samples were notably lower than TΔ47 values from corresponding samples. This suggests the γ47 signature underwent alteration due to partial reordering during burial. Thus, γ47-derived temperatures (apparent temperatures) may not faithfully represent the mineral precipitation temperatures. When plotting these apparent temperatures vs. the burial history, only the possible latest ages of fracturing emerged. These ages were further refined by considering petroleum charging, tectonic evolution, and stress orientation. Bitumen-filled fractures likely resulted from the Late Cretaceous uplift, marking the migration of low-maturity hydrocarbons in the study area. Carbonate-filled E-W striking fractures emerged during the late Miocene (~13e6.5 Ma) alongside fold development. The pull-out method is a simple and effective method for detecting the preload of suspension bridge cable clamp bolts. However, research on the pull-out method is currently limited. The force principles governing the bolt during the pulling process are unclear, and the relationship between tension force and the desired preload remains uncertain. This paper aims to explore the force principles of bolts during the pull-out method detection process through a combined approach of theoretical analysis, full-scale test, and finite element simulation. The results indicate that the bolt preload increases during the pulling process. The preload detected by the pull-out method is not the initial preload of the bolt, but rather it exceeds the initial preload. The force relationships among various components are determined as follows: the preload subtracts the change value of the force exerted by the nut at the tension end, which equals the change value of tension force. Additionally, an analysis of the impact of the length of the bolt clamping section and the bolt area on the preload was conducted. Under the same bolt area, a shorter clamping section length corresponds to a greater increase in preload. With the same clamping section length, the increment of preload increases with the bolt area. Strobilanthes dalzielii of Acanthaceae is an herb species with potentially extensive applications for its pharmaceutical and ornamental values. Due to taxonomic complications and limited genetic information, the structural characteristics, and phylogenetic relationships of the S. dalzielii chloroplast genome were assembled and characterized here for the first time. The complete chloroplast genome of S. dalzielii was 144,580 bp in length. The genome is quadripartite in structure and consists of a large single-copy region (92,137 bp) and a small single-copy region (17,669 bp), which are separated by a pair of inverted repeats (each 17,387 bp). A total of 125 genes were annotated, including 80 protein-coding, 37 transfer RNA, and eight ribosomal RNA genes. The overall GC content was 36.4%. Phylogenetic analysis based on the complete chloroplast genome sequence of 21 taxa within the tribe Ruellieae of Acanthaceae using the maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference methods revealed that Strobilanthes diverged after Ruellia; S. dalzielii is closely related to S. tonkinensis. The quality of crops is closely associated with their geographical location and yield, which is reflected in the composition of their metabolites. Hence, we employed GC–MS pseudotargeted metabolomics to investigate the metabolic characteristics of high-, medium-, and low-yield Nicotiana tabacum (tobacco) leaves from the Bozhou (sweet honey flavour) and Shuicheng (light flavour) regions of Guizhou Province. A total of 124 metabolites were identified and classified into 22 chemical categories. Principal component analysis revealed that the geographical location exerted a greater influence on the metabolic profiling than the yield. Light-flavoured tobacco exhibited increased levels of sugar metabolism- and glycolysis-related intermediate products (trehalose, glucose-6-phosphate, and fructose-6-phosphate) and a few amino acids (proline and leucine), while sweet honey-flavoured tobacco exhibited increases in the tricarboxylic acid cycle (TCA cycle) and the phenylpropane metabolic pathway (p-hydroxybenzoic acid, caffeic acid, and maleic acid). Additionally, metabolite pathway enrichment analysis conducted at different yields and showed that both Shuicheng and Bozhou exhibited changes in six pathways and four of them were the same, mainly C/N metabolism. Metabolic pathway analysis revealed higher levels of intermediates related to glycolysis and sugar, amino acid, and alkaloid metabolism in the high-yield samples, while higher levels of phenylpropane in the low-yield samples. This study demonstrated that GC–MS pseudotargeted metabolomics-based metabolic profiling can be used to effectively discriminate tobacco leaves from different geographical locations and yields, thus facilitating a better understanding of the relationship between metabolites, yield, and geographical location. Background and Aim: Cohort studies have linked metabolic syndrome (MetS) to gastrointestinal (GI) cancer risk. We aimed to evaluate the associations between MetS, its components, and combinations of MetS components with eight GI cancers risk. Methods: We conducted a systematic search of prospective cohort studies and performed a meta‐analysis. Subgroup analyses regarding diagnostic criteria, sex, cancer sites, histological subtypes, ethnic groups, and studies adjusted for alcohol consumption were carried out. Mendelian randomization (MR) was employed to evaluate the causality between 17 MetS‐related traits and eight GI cancers among Europeans and Asians separately. Results: Meta‐analyses of 31 prospective studies indicated that MetS was significantly associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC) (RR [95% CI] = 1.13 [1.12–1.15]), esophageal cancer (EC) (RR [95% CI] = 1.17 [1.03–1.32]), gallbladder cancer (GBC) (RR [95% CI] = 1.37[1.10–1.71]), liver cancer (LC) (RR [95% CI] = 1.46 [1.29–1.64]), and pancreatic cancer (PaC) (RR [95% CI] = 1.25 [1.20–1.30]), but not gastric cancer (GC) (RR [95% CI] = 1.11 [0.96–1.28]). Regarding the associations between MetS components and GI cancers risk, the following associations showed statistical significance: obesity‐CRC/LC/EC/, hypertriglyceridemia‐LC/PaC, reduced high‐density lipoprotein (HDL)‐CRC/LC/GC/PaC, hyperglycemia‐CRC/LC/PaC, and hypertension‐CRC/LC/EC/PaC. Sex‐specific associations were observed between individual MetS components on GI cancers risk. Among the top three common combinations in both sexes, obesity + HTN + hyperglycemia had the strongest association with CRC risk (RR [95% CI] = 1.54 [1.49–1.61] for males and 1.27 [1.21–1.33] for females). MR analyses revealed causality in 16 exposure–outcome pairs: waist‐to‐hip ratio/BMI/HbA1c‐CRC; BMI/childhood obesity/waist circumference/T2DM/glucose‐EC; BMI/waist circumference/cholesterol‐LC; cholesterol/childhood obesity/waist circumference/HbA1c‐PaC; and HbA1c‐GBC. These results were robust against sensitivity analyses. Stair climbing exercise (SE) provides a feasible approach to elevate physical activity, but the effects on metabolic health are unclear. We systematically reviewed the currently available evidence on the effects of SE on fasting and postprandial glycaemia and lipidaemia. Studies were included if they investigated the effects of acute or chronic (at least 2 weeks) SE on fasting and/or postprandial glycaemic (insulin and glucose) and lipidaemic (triacylglycerols and non-esterified fatty acids) responses in healthy, prediabetic or type 2 diabetic adult populations. PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus were searched for eligible studies until July 2022. A total of 25 studies (14 acute and 11 chronic) were eligible for review. Acute bout(s) of SE can reduce postprandial glycaemia in individuals with prediabetes and type 2 diabetes (8 of 9 studies), but not in normoglycemic individuals. The effects of acute SE on postprandial lipidaemic responses and SE training on both fasting and postprandial glycaemia/lipidaemia were unclear. Acute SE may reduce postprandial glucose concentrations in people with impaired glycaemic control, but high-quality studies are needed. Under the repeated action of aircraft taxiing load, the subgrade plastic deformation becomes the key factor affecting the service performance of the airfields when salinized silt is used to fill the subgrade. In this study, the dynamic triaxial tests were carried out on a region in the northern part of China to study the effects of different salt contents on the dynamic characteristics of silt under cyclic loading. A prediction model for the salinized silt dynamic strength with a plastic strain of 4% as the failure criterion for the subgrade was thus proposed. It is found that with the increase of dynamic stress amplitude, the salinized silt plastic deformation transforms gradually from plastic deformation to incremental failure. The salt contents significantly influence the plastic strain and critical dynamic stress of silt. The strength of the salinized silt specimen is related to the ion concentration in the soil pores and the arrangement pattern of soil particles, as indicated by the progressive strength increase of the salinized silt at the low salt content of 1% and a further gradual decrease at high salt content. This study investigated the effects of amygdalin (AMY, a cyanogenic glycoside widely distributed in the fruits and seeds of Rosaceae plants) on cardiac performance and ventricular remodeling in a rat model of myocardial infarction (MI). We also investigated whether the combination of AMY with exercise training (ExT) has a beneficial synergistic effect in treating MI rats. MI was induced by the ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery in male SD rats. ExT or AMY treatment was started 1 week after MI and continued for 1 week (short-term) or 8 weeks (long-term). Cardiac function was evaluated by echocardiographic and hemodynamic parameters. Heart tissues were harvested and subjected to 2,3,5-triphenyl-tetrazolium chloride, Masson's trichrome, hematoxylin-eosin, and immunohistochemical staining. Gene expression was determined by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Western blot gave a qualitative assessment of protein levels. AMY or ExT improved cardiac function and reduced infarct size in MI rats. AMY or ExT also suppressed myocardial fibrosis and attenuated inflammation in the infarct border zone of hearts from MI rats, as evidenced by inhibition of collagen deposition, inflammatory cell infiltration, and pro-inflammatory markers (interleukin 1β, interleukin 6, tumor necrosis factor-α, and cyclooxygenase 2). Notably, the effects of AMY combined with ExT were superior to those of AMY alone or ExT alone. Mechanistically, these beneficial functions were correlated with the inhibition of MI-induced activation of the transforming growth factor-β/Smad pathway. Collectively, AMY and ExT exert a synergistic effect on improving cardiac performance and ameliorating cardiac inflammation and fibrosis after MI, and the effects of long-term intervention were better than short-term intervention. Cerebral vasogenic edema, a severe complication of ischemic stroke, aggravates neurological deficits. However, therapeutics to reduce cerebral edema still represent a significant unmet medical need. Brain microvascular endothelial cells (BMECs), vital for maintaining the blood-brain barrier (BBB), represent the first defense barrier for vasogenic edema. Here, we analyzed the proteomic profiles of the cultured mouse BMECs during oxygen-glucose deprivation and reperfusion (OGD/R). Besides the extensively altered cytoskeletal proteins, ephrin type-A receptor 4 (EphA4) expressions and its activated phosphorylated form p-EphA4 were significantly increased. Blocking EphA4 using EphA4-Fc, a specific and well-tolerated inhibitor shown in our ongoing human phase I trial, effectively reduced OGD/R-induced BMECs contraction and tight junction damage. EphA4-Fc did not protect OGD/R-induced neuronal and astrocytic death. However, administration of EphA4-Fc, before or after the onset of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (tMCAO), reduced brain edema by about 50%, leading to improved neurological function recovery. The BBB permeability test also confirmed that cerebral BBB integrity was well maintained in tMCAO brains treated with EphA4-Fc. Therefore, EphA4 was critical in signaling BMECs-mediated BBB breakdown and vasogenic edema during cerebral ischemia. EphA4-Fc is promising for the treatment of clinical post-stroke edema. Objectives: To develop a computed tomography (CT) radiomics-based interpretable machine learning (ML) model to predict the pathological grade of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) in a non-invasive manner. Methods: Patients with pNETs who underwent contrast-enhanced abdominal CT between 2010 and 2022 were included in this retrospective study. Radiomics features were extracted, and five radiomics-based ML models, namely logistic regression (LR), random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), XGBoost, and GaussianNB, were developed. The performance of these models was evaluated using a time-independent testing set, and metrics such as sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) were calculated. The accuracy of the radiomics model was compared to that of needle biopsy. The Shapley Additive Explanation (SHAP) tool and the correlation between radiomics and biological features were employed to explore the interpretability of the model. Results: A total of 122 patients (mean age: 50 ± 14 years; 53 male) were included in the training set, whereas 100 patients (mean age: 48 ± 13 years; 50 male) were included in the testing set. The AUCs for LR, SVM, RF, XGBoost, and GaussianNB were 0.758, 0.742, 0.779, 0.744, and 0.745, respectively, with corresponding accuracies of 73.0%, 70.0%, 77.0%, 71.9%, and 72.9%. The SHAP tool identified two features of the venous phase as the most significant, which showed significant differences among the Ki-67 index or mitotic count subgroups (p < 0.001). Conclusions: An interpretable radiomics-based RF model can effectively differentiate between G1 and G2/3 of pNETs, demonstrating favorable interpretability. Clinical relevance statement: The radiomics-based interpretable model developed in this study has significant clinical relevance as it offers a non-invasive method for assessing the pathological grade of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and holds promise as an important complementary tool to traditional tissue biopsy. Aims: Soil metabolites have a great influence on regulating the growth and development of plants and microbes in forest ecosystems. This study aims to reveal the characteristic metabolite profiles and their enriched metabolic pathways in the rhizosphere soil of Masson pine plantations at three different ages. Method: The rhizosphere soil of Masson pine from 10, 31, and 52 years plantation was collected. The metabolites were analyzed using a soil pseudotargeted metabolomics approach and then the relationships between soil metabolites and chemical properties, enzyme activities were established. Results: A total of 172 rhizosphere soil metabolites in 26 classes were identified. There was a decreasing trend in the total concentration of rhizosphere soil metabolites with increasing stand age. Seventy-two characteristic metabolites were screened, mainly saccharides, fatty acids, amino acids, phenolic acids, polyols and terpenoids. Among them, benzoic acid and galactonic acid contributed the most to the young forest, and stearic acid had the greatest influence on the near-mature forest plantation. Erythritol had great effects on the mature forest plantation. Seven metabolic pathways changed with increasing stand age. Correlation analysis showed that available potassium (AK) and soil alkaline protease (S-ALPT) were significantly positively correlated with phenolic acids, polyhydroxy carboxylic acids, etc. Conclusion: The rhizosphere soil of Masson pine had different metabolite profiles at different developmental stages, and the soil nutrient pools were effectively improved.
