Utilizing agricultural and industrial wastes, potent reservoirs of nutrients, for nourishing the soil and crops through composting embodies a sustainable approach to waste management and organic agriculture. To investigate this, a 2-year field experiment was conducted at ICAR-IARI, New Delhi, focusing on a pigeon pea--vegetable mustard--okra cropping system. Seven nutrient sources were tested, including a control (T1), 100% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through farmyard manure (T2), 100% RDN through improved rice residue compost (T3), 100% RDN through a paddy husk ash (PHA)--based formulation (T4), 75% RDN through PHA-based formulation (T5), 100% RDN through a potato peel compost (PPC)--based formulation (T6), and 75% RDN through PPC-based formulation (T7). Employing a randomized block design with three replications, the results revealed that treatment T4 exhibited the significantly highest seed (1.89 ± 0.09 and 1.97 ± 0.12 t ha-1) and stover (7.83 ± 0.41 and 8.03 ± 0.58 t ha-1) yield of pigeon pea, leaf yield (81.57 ± 4.69 and 82.97 ± 4.17 t ha-1) of vegetable mustard, and fruit (13.54 ± 0.82 and 13.78 ± 0.81 t ha-1) and stover (21.64 ± 1.31 and 22.03 ± 1.30 t ha-1) yield of okra during both study years compared to the control (T1). Treatment T4 was on par with T2 and T6 for seed and stover yield in pigeon pea, as well as okra, and leaf yield in vegetable mustard over both years. Moreover, T4 demonstrated notable increase of 124.1% and 158.2% in NH4-N and NO3-N levels in the soil, respectively, over the control. The enhanced status of available nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) in the soil, coupled with increased soil organic carbon (0.41%), total bacteria population (21.1%), fungi (37.2%), actinomycetes (44.6%), and microbial biomass carbon (28.5%), further emphasized the positive impact of T4 compared to the control. Treatments T2 and T6 exhibited comparable outcomes to T4 concerning changes in available N, P, soil organic carbon, total bacteria population, fungi, actinomycetes, and microbial biomass carbon. In conclusion, treatments T4 and T6 emerge as viable sources of organic fertilizer, particularly in regions confronting farmyard manure shortages. These formulations offer substantial advantages, including enhanced yield, soil quality improvement, and efficient fertilizer utilization, thus contributing significantly to sustainable agricultural practices. A field experiment was carried out in the farmer's fields of the Bhagalpur District of Bihar during the rabi seasons of 2016-17 and 2017-18 to ascertain the impact of high fertility levels and plant geometry on the productivity and profitability of rabi maize. There were total five treatments consisting of different plant geometry and fertilizer rate. The five treatments viz.,T1- 60 × 20 cm spacing with 120:75:50 kg/ha (Farmers practice), T2- 50 × 20 cm spacing with 150:93.75:62.5 kg/ha, T3- 40 × 20 cm spacing with 150:93.75:62.5 kg/ha, T4- 50 × 20 cm spacing with 180:112.5:75 kg/ha and T5- 40 × 20 cm spacing with 180:112.5:75 kg/ha N, P2O5 and K2O, respectively were arranged in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five replications. Polled data of two consecutive years revealed that all the higher fertility levels with reduced plant geometry produced higher yield attributes and yield of rabi maize and also sustained soil fertility as compare to the farmer's practice. Significantly, highest cob length (19.49 cm), cob girth (12.83 cm), 1000-grain wt (305.5 g), grain yield (115.94 q/ha) and net returns of INR 101434/ha were recorded with 180 : 112.5 : 75 kg/ha N, P2O5 and K2O with the plant spacing of 50×20 cm (T4). Application of 150:93.75:62.5 kg/ha N, P2O5 and K2O at plant spacing 50 × 20 cm (T2) being at par with 180:112.5:75 kg/ha N, P2O5 and K2O with the plant spacing of 50 × 20 cm (T4) and 180:112.5:75 kg/ha N, P2O5 and K2O at plant spacing 40 × 20 cm (T5). Rice (Oryza sativa) is a staple food of more than half of the population of the world and provides food security and livelihoods for millions of population. Direct seeding of rice (DSR) refers to the process of direct sowing the seeds in the field rather than by transplanting seedlings from the nursery. Direct seeded rice is an age old practice and before the introduction of green revolution in India. Rainfed rice was often broadcasted into moist soil and crops were highly prone to weed competition resulted into low yield. Rice ecosystems and establishment methods determined the weed spectrum and degree of infestation in rice field (DSR). Weeds are considered as a major biological constraint in direct seeded rice. In direct seeded rice, weed management depend on weed flora, critical period of weed control, availability of water and method to be adopted. Integrated weed management (IWM) is essential to achieve the long term, sustainable and economic management of weeds in direct seeded rice. The literature regarding the direct seeded rice, critical period of crop weed competition, different types of weed flora and different methods for the effective and sustainable management of weeds in direct seeded rice are reviewed in this paper. The rhizosphere of a plant is home to helpful microorganisms called plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), which play a crucial role in promoting plant growth and development. The significance of PGPR for long-term agricultural viability is outlined in this review. Plant growth processes such as nitrogen fixation, phosphate solubilization, and hormone secretion are discussed. Increased plant tolerance to biotic and abiotic stress, reduced use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and enhanced nutrient availability, soil fertility, and absorption are all mentioned as potential benefits of PGPR. PGPR has multiple ecological and practical functions in the soil's rhizosphere. One of PGPR's various roles in agroecosystems is to increase the synthesis of phytohormones and other metabolites, which have a direct impact on plant growth. Phytopathogens can be stopped in their tracks, a plant's natural defenses can be bolstered, and so on. PGPR also helps clean up the soil through a process called bioremediation. The PGPR's many functions include indole acetic acid (IAA) production, ammonia (NH3) production, hydrogen cyanide (HCN) production, catalase production, and more. In addition to aiding in nutrient uptake, PGPR controls the production of a hormone that increases root size and strength. Improving crop yield, decreasing environmental pollution, and guaranteeing food security are only some of the ecological and economic benefits of employing PGPR for sustainable agriculture. The preparation of enriched formulation by integrating of agricultural wastes such as paddy husk ash (PHA) and potato peel with organic fertilizer such as farmyard manure (FYM), compost can enrich the soil with essential plant nutrients, leading to higher yields in subsequent crops and potentially reducing the dependence on farmyard manure/compost alone. However, there is lack of adequate research findings regarding the impact of different formulations generated from agricultural waste on productivity, nutrient utilization efficiency and profitability of baby corn-kabuli gram-vegetable cowpea cropping system. Therefore, a two-year field experiment (2020-2022) was conducted ICAR-IARI, New Delhi with baby corn-kabuli gram-vegetable cowpea cropping system. Seven nutrient sources were tested in Randomized Block Design and replicate thrice. The results showed that treatment T4 (100% recommended dose of nitrogen (RDN) through PHA based formulation) had significant effect on crop yield grown in rotation, followed by treatment T6 (100% RDN through potato peel compost (PPC) based formulation) and T2 (100% RDN through FYM). The increase in yield was 75.0, 44.3 and 33.1% during first year and 72.6, 45.9 and 31.0% during second year, respectively, over control. Treatment T4 also significantly enhanced system uptake of N, P and K as well as system gross returns and net returns, resulting in 65.6, 84.9, 69.5, 50.7 and 55.2% higher returns during first year and 68.6, 80.5, 73.9, 50.0 and 54.2% higher returns during second year, respectively, over control. Furthermore, treatment T4 significantly improved agronomic nitrogen use efficiency and apparent recovery by 151.6 and 2.0% in baby corn, 74.2 and 1.5% in kabuli gram, 55.7 and 13.9% in veg cowpea over T7, respectively, averaged across two years of study. Based on these results, it is recommended to adopt (T4) 100% RDN through PHA based formulation, and (T6) 100% RDN through PPC based formulation in the area with a shortage of FYM but with the availability of rice husk ash or pototo peels for sustainable utilization of the agricultural wastes and improving the agricultural sustainability. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is proposed to play a significant role in pathogenesis of urinary bladder cancer (UBC). This role may be influenced by chemotherapy (mitomycin C; MMC) or immunotherapy (Bacillus Calmette-Guérin; BCG). A case-control study was conducted to determine IL-6 levels in serum of newly diagnosed cases (NDC) of superficial UBC, as well as in patients treated with MMC or BCG intravesical instillation. A total sample of 111 patients (36 NDC, 45 MMC and 30 BCG) was included, as well as a control group of 107 healthy controls (HC). IL-6 was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results revealed that median levels of IL-6 were significantly elevated in NDC group (15.8 pg/mL; P<0.001) compared to MMC and BCG groups (7.5 and 5.3 pg/mL, respectively) or HC (4.4 pg/mL); while, there were no significant differences between the latter three groups (MMC, BCG and HC). Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis revealed that IL-6 is a very good predictor of UBC in NDC group versus HC (area under the curve=0.885; 95% confidence interval=0.828-0.942; P<0.001; cut-off value=10.5 pg/mL; Youden index=0.62; sensitivity=80.6%; specificity=81.3%). Logistic regression analysis confirmed this significance and IL-6 was associated with a higher risk of UBC (odds ratio=1.18; 95% confidence interval=1.11-1.26; P<0.001). In conclusion, this study indicated that IL-6 level was upregulated in serum of NDC of UBC. Further, IL-6 level was restored to normal levels after intravesical instillation of MMC or BCG. Mesotheliomas are malignancies which involve mesothelial cells, and are commonly found in the pleura, peritoneum, pericardium, and (rarely) the testis. We present a case of paratesticular mesothelioma that was excised without the testis. An elderly gentleman presented with a painless right scrotal mass, which appeared clinically benign and separable from the underlying testis. An ultrasound showed an extratesticular lesion adhered to the scrotal wall with a complex hydrocele. An excisional biopsy was conducted, and the Jaboulay procedure was performed on the right testis. Pathological examination revealed mesothelioma, showing focal invasion into the underlying stroma. A post-operative computed tomography (CT) scan evaluation manifested no local or distant metastasis. No further surgery was performed, and no chemotherapy or radiotherapy was offered to the patient. Subsequent clinical examinations and radiological scans carried out during each clinic follow-up for two years showed no new lesion or recurrence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Globally, excess soil nutrient mining is a serious challenge to sustainable agricultural production. The task is more daunting in the semi-arid region of the globe. In addition to the primary nutrient deficiency over the mining of secondary nutrients, especially sulfur is an emerging challenge in contemporary crop production systems. Hence, there is a dire need to devise an appropriate sulfur management protocol by searching for efficient and sustainable sulfur sources. Therefore, the efficacy of new sulfur molecules was evaluated on the performance and nutrient acquisition potential of the pearl millet–mustard system at the research farm of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi, India, for two years. The flexibility of urea–ES technology allows customized sulfur-enhanced urea formulations that suit unique crop needs, offering an all-in-one nitrogen and sulfur fertilizer solution. Hence, the study hypothesized that new sulfur molecules like sulfonated urea (SEU) will have a positive impact on crop growth, yield, and nutrient acquisition in the pearl millet–mustard system. The results revealed that the application of 50% sulfur (S) (15 kg/ha) as a base and 50% (15 kg/ha) as a topdressing (SEU 10-0-0-75) produced better growth, yield-contributing parameters, and economic productivity of the pearl millet–mustard system. However, both compositions of SEU (40-0-0-13 and 10-0-0-75) were significantly better than the recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF) and the RDF along with other S sources like single super phosphate and bentonite in enhancing crop growth and productivity. The agronomic efficiency of nitrogen (AEn) and S (Aes) of SEU (40-0-0-13 and 10-0-0-75) were 9.1 and 10.3 kg seed yield/kg N and 51.2 and 28.9 kg seed/kg, respectively. The agronomic nitrogen use efficiency of SEU (40-0-0-13) and SEU (10-0-0-75) is significantly higher than those of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium (NPK) alone. Thus, the findings inferred that splitting S (50% as a base and 50% as topdressing) through SEU is a practically feasible and economically robust S option for profitable and sustainable production of the pearl millet–mustard production model in the semi-arid region. Globally, people are highly affected by Cadmium (Cd), the most hazardous heavy metal. It has been implicated in various pathogeneses. Oxidative stress may be one the main reasons for Cd-induced disorders in the body. This article investigates the protective ability of Catharanthus roseus (CR) extract on oxidative stress in the kidney and liver of rats exposed to Cd. After 21 days, a significant increase in MDA concentration (6.81 ± 0.05), (6.64 ± 0.03) was observed in Cd-treated groups compared to the control (5.54 ± 0.02), (5.39 ± 0.04) for the kidney and liver, respectively, while significant changes were observed in the haematological parameters. Antioxidant enzymes, GPx, CAT, and SOD showed a significant decrease in their activity. We established that increasing the concentration of Cd in the presence of H2O2 was able to cause stand scission in pBR322 plasmid DNA, which may be due to the mediation of ROS generated in the process. The antioxidant ability of CR extract was tested in DPPH and H2O2 scavenging assay, depicted by the increase in the percentage inhibition. Upon treatment of CR extract to rats, MDA concentration was decreased for the kidney and liver compared to the Cd-treated groups. This was again confirmed by comet assay of both tissues, where the degree of cellular DNA breakage caused by Cd toxicity decreased significantly upon treatment with CR extract. Overall, the results suggest that Cd plays a major role as an effector metal ion, causing a decrease in the concentration and activity of AO enzymes and enhanced lipid peroxidation. ROS production resulted in oxidative DNA damage within the cell, whereas CR extract showed potential antioxidant activity against ROS-mediated DNA damage induced by Cd poisoning. This paper aims to find out the effect of different weight percentages of geopolymer filler in glass-reinforced epoxy pipe, and which can achieve the best mechanical properties and adhesion between high calcium pozzolanic-based geopolymer matrices. Different weight percentages and molarities of epoxy hardener resin and high calcium pozzolanic-based geopolymer were injected into the glass fiber. By manually winding filaments, composite samples were produced, and they were then allowed to cure at room temperature. To determine how well the geopolymer matrices adhere to the fiber reinforcement, the microstructure of the composites' surfaces and perpendicular sections were examined. Maximum values of compressive strength and compressive modulus were 94.64 MPa and 2373.58 MPa, respectively, for the sample with a weight percentage of filler loading of 30 wt% for an alkali concentration of 12 M. This is a relatively wide range of geopolymer weight percentage of filler loading from 10 wt% to 40 wt%, at which we can obtain high compressive properties. By referring to microstructural analysis, adhesion, and interaction of the geopolymer matrix to glass fiber, it shows that the filler is well-dispersed and embedded at the fiber glass, and it was difficult to determine the differences within the range of optimal geopolymer filler content. By determining the optimum weight percent of 30 wt% of geopolymer filler and microstructural analysis, the maximum parameter has been achieved via analysis of high calcium pozzolanic-based geopolymer filler. Fire or elevated temperature represents one of the extreme ambient conditions that any structure may be exposed to during its service life. The heat resistance or thermal analysis between glass-reinforced epoxy (GRE) pipe and glass-reinforced epoxy pipe filled with high calcium pozzolanic-based geopolymer filler was studied by investigating burning tests on the samples, which shows that the addition of high calcium pozzolanic-based geopolymer filler results in a significant reduction of the melted epoxy. Foamcrete is fabricated by combining mortar slurry and constant foam. Owing to the existence of air entrained in its cementitious matrix, foamcrete is tremendously brittle compared to normal-strength concrete. The addition of synthetic and natural plant fibers demonstrates an enhancement to foamcrete's mechanical performance yet exerts a harmful effect on long-term performance. Depreciation of natural plant fibers and corrosion of synthetic fibers impact the lifespan and durability properties of foamcrete. Hence, this study aims to investigate the mechanical properties and mode of failures of foamcrete reinforced with fiberglass mesh (FM). The parameters assessed were the compression, flexural, and splitting tensile strengths of 1100 kg/m3 density foamcrete confined with various layers of 145 g/m2 of FM. The optimal foamcrete mechanical properties enhancement was attained with three-layer jacketing. Notable augmentations of 108% in the compressive strength, 254% in flexural strength, and 349% in splitting tensile strength were achieved in comparison to the control specimens at day 28. The control foamcrete samples under compressive, flexural, and tensile loads encountered brittle failure in comparison to the confined foamcrete. The mode of failure under the tensile load indicates that only a slight crack occurred at the upper side and a perpendicular mark at the lateral section of the foamcrete with one to three layers of FM jacketing. Thus, the jacketing system of foamcrete with FM enhances the behavior and load carrying capacity of foamcrete to the extent of preventing the propagation of cracks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study summarised the recent achievement in developing fiber reinforced geopolymer concrete. the factor of replacing ordinary Portland cement (OPC) which is due to the emission of carbon dioxide that pollutes the environment globally is well discussed. the introduction towards metakaolin is presented. Besides, the current research trend involved in geopolymer also has been reviewed for the current 20 years to study the interest of researchers over the world by year. Factors that contribute to the frequency of geopolymer research are carried out which are cost, design, and the practicality of the application for geopolymer concrete. Besides, the importance of steel fibers addition to the geopolymer concrete is also well discussed. the fundamental towards metakaolin has been introduced including the source of raw material, which is calcined kaolin, calcined temperature, chemical composition, geopolymerisation process, and other properties. Alkali activators which are mixing solution between sodium hydroxide (NaNOH) and sodium silicate (Na2Sio3) have been reviewed. the mechanical properties of fibers reinforced metakaolinbased geopolymer concrete which is compressive and flexural are thoroughly reviewed. the compressive and flexural strength of fiber-reinforced metakaolin geopolymer concrete shows some improvement to the addition of steel fibers. the reviews in this field demonstrate that reinforcement of metakaolin geopolymer concrete by steel fibers shows improvement in mechanical performance. Geopolymer is formed from the alkali activation of materials rich in si and al content with the addition of a silicate solution to enhance the properties of the materials. this paper presents research on the mechanical properties of fly ash-based geopolymer filler in epoxy resin by varying different solid to liquid ratios using sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate as the alkaline activator. however, the common problem observed from the solid to liquid ratio is the influence of curing time and compressive strength of geopolymer to have the best mechanical property. the mix design for geopolymers of solid to liquid ratio is essential in developing the geopolymer's mechanical strength. a series of epoxy filled with fly ash-based geopolymer materials with different solid to liquid ratio, which is prepared from 0.5 to 2.5 solid to liquid ratio of alkaline activator. the tensile strength and flexural strength of the epoxy filled with fly ash-based geopolymer materials is determined using universal testing Machine under tensile and flexural mode. it was found that the optimum solid to liquid ratio is 2.0, with the optimum tensile and flexural strength value. however, both the tensile and flexural properties of epoxy filled with fly ash-based geopolymer suddenly decrease at a 2.5 solid to liquid ratio. the strength is increasing with the increasing solid to liquid ratio sample of geopolymer filler content. Sanitation is a multidimensional concept alluding primarily to provision of services for safe disposal of human excreta, provision of clean potable water as well as maintenance of hygiene through judicious means of wastewater and solid waste disposal. This paper aims at studying the accessibility to toilet facilities by 350 slum residents belonging to 308 households, majority of whom are women. These were drawn from 14 selected notified slum colonies of Lucknow city during a field survey conducted in 2017. It was found that 68.42% respondent used shared toilet facilities, followed by private facilities at 10.57%. 19.21% depended on community toilets while 1.8% assented to open defecation. The BMI of women slum residents was found to be positively correlated with usage of private toilets (0.38; p < 0.01) and negatively correlated with open defecation (− 0.24; p < 0.01) both being considered as variables of sanitation conditions. Amongst the socio economic variables, the BMI of women slum residents was found to be positively correlated with median household income (0.64; p < 0.01) and negatively correlated with labour as a means of occupation (− 0.27; p < 0.01). In addition, a composite index was devised in order to assess the level of sanitation and socio economic development in the surveyed city slums. The topic (the impact of calamities and life changes on changing the fatwa in light of the Islamic law) is one of the topics that are important in our contemporary life which have emerged with the advancement in all fields, including the scientific and commercial, which the whole world is experiencing today, and it has a clear impact, positively or negatively, on individuals and peoples alike. Different fatwas have spread, with the civilizational progress that the world is experiencing, and the spread of modern means. Scholars in the Islamic world called for establishing Islamic- law controls and to get acquainted with the means to keep pace with the world regarding life changes and to consider calamities because the Islamic ruling is linked to its evidence, and revolves with its cause, and when the causes, reasons and requirements change, then this is another fact that has its own ruling that suits it. This research is an inductive study of the topic: (The impact of calamities and life changes on changing the fatwa in the light of Islamic law); we explained what is meant by that, and showed the most important reasons and the need to know the most important restrictions for calamities and variables. In this paper, the development of fire-resistant geopolymers for the passive fire protection of buildings is investigated. The fire-resistant geopolymeric materials were based on the alkali activation of a metallurgical slag produced in primary copper industry with a highly alkaline solution of potassium hydroxide. In order to decrease the density of the developed geopolymers, their foaming or the addition of lightweight aggregates was also studied. The physical, mechanical and thermal properties of the developed materials were determined and their performance upon exposure to fire was tested according to the ISO-834 standard time–temperature curve, which is considered as appropriate for testing fire protection systems employed in buildings. During the whole test of the materials performance against fire, the temperature at the interface between concrete and geopolymer was recorded below 180 °C, as required by the ISO test followed, proving effectiveness for the developed materials to be used as a thermal barrier in buildings and constructions. Background: Medicinal cannabis use is topical in the media in Ireland. A recent Health Products Regulatory Authority review, however, has recommended against its use for patients with chronic pain. This is despite evidence for its effectiveness in this patient's cohort and the inadequate pain management of these patients.Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the attitudes of Irish patients with chronic pain towards medicinal cannabis.Methods: After institutional ethics committee approval, a 12-item questionnaire (excluding demographics) was randomly assigned to patients attending a chronic pain clinic (University Hospital Limerick). The questionnaire was designed to incorporate patient's attitudes on a variety of medicinal cannabis related topics.Results: Ninety-six adult patients were surveyed. 88.54% agreed that cannabis should be legalised for chronic pain medicinal purposes. 80.21% believed it would have health benefits for them and 73.96% agreed it would be socially acceptable to use cannabis for this purpose. 33.33% perceived cannabis to be addictive while 68.75% would be willing to try it if prescribed by a medical professional.Conclusions: The study highlights the attitudes of chronic pain patients in Ireland towards medicinal cannabis. It shows their desire to have medical cannabis legalised for chronic pain and that they view it as a reasonable pain management option. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper applies a "justice" lens to the struggle of the people displaced by the Merowe Dam in northern Sudan. Application of distributive, procedural, and representational aspects of justice exposes the dissatisfaction of the affected people with the government's offer and execution of compensation. Consideration of social justice and the utility of norms in trans-national activism brings into sharp focus the difference in interests, and abilities of the many actors involved, and highlights the government's tactics to divide the communities, and the social divisions sown. As the struggle develops, justice claims are seen to change towards less material issues, suggesting that an expanded and dynamic conception of justice is more helpful than narrow or time-bound conceptions. The findings are of relevance to communities facing possible displacement from dams planned nearby, not least of all for the insight provided on the effectiveness of different tactics in the struggle. Geopolymer concrete has the potential to replace ordinary Portland cement which can reduce carbon dioxide emission to the environment. The addition of different amounts of steel fibers, as well as different types of end-shape fibers, could alter the performance of geopolymer concrete. The source of aluminosilicate (fly ash) used in the production of geopolymer concrete may lead to a different result. This study focuses on the comparison between Malaysian fly ash geopolymer concrete with the addition of hooked steel fibers and geopolymer concrete with the addition of straight-end steel fibers to the physical and mechanical properties. Malaysian fly ash was first characterized by X-ray fluorescence (XRF) to identify the chemical composition. The sample of steel fiber reinforced geopolymer concrete was produced by mixing fly ash, alkali activators, aggregates, and specific amounts of hook or straight steel fibers. The steel fibers addition for both types of fibers are 0%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0% by volume percentage. The samples were cured at room temperature. The physical properties (slump, density, and water absorption) of reinforced geopolymer concrete were studied. Meanwhile, a mechanical performance which is compressive, as well as the flexural strength was studied. The results show that the pattern in physical properties of geopolymer concrete for both types of fibers addition is almost similar where the slump is decreased with density and water absorption is increased with the increasing amount of fibers addition. However, the addition of hook steel fiber to the geopolymer concrete produced a lower slump than the addition of straight steel fibers. Meanwhile, the addition of hook steel fiber to the geopolymer concrete shows a higher density and water absorption compared to the sample with the addition of straight steel fibers. However, the difference is not significant. Besides, samples with the addition of hook steel fibers give better performance for compressive and flexural strength compared to the samples with the addition of straight steel fibers where the highest is at 1.0% of fibers addition.
