Purpose: To assess whether a health education video increased prosthodontic treatment demand for replacing missing teeth compared to a traditional health education (IEC) leaflet among patients visiting a university dental care center in Saudi Arabia. Materials and Methods: A nonrandomized educational intervention was conducted among patients with missing teeth. A total of 350 participants were divided equally into two health-education intervention groups: leaflet group and video group. Two major variants were ascertained: demand for prosthodontic dental care and awareness (knowledge) about the importance of replacing missing teeth. These two variants were studied for the difference in the scores between base line and at the end of the program (after 3 months). Bivariate analysis was done with chi-square test, McNemar chi-square test, and Wilcoxon matched-pairs tests, and finally binary logistic regression analysis was done. Results: The final analysis included 324 participants. There was improvement in both knowledge and demand for prosthodontic care in both the groups after health education, but a statistically significant improvement in demand for dental care was observed in the video group compared to the leaflet group (42.9% vs 63.2%). Logistic regression analysis identified that missing teeth in the anterior region and being in the video group were two significant factors associated with increased demand for care. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the usefulness of a newly developed oral simulator for nursing students’ oral assessment education on oral diseases and symptoms. Materials and Methods: The participants were first-year students (n=105) at a nursing school in Japan. Ten identical oral simulators with angular cheilitis, missing teeth, dental caries, calculus, periodontitis, hypoglossal induration, food debris, and crust formation were created by a team of dentists. After a 45-minute lecture programme for oral assessment performance with the Oral Health Assessment Tool (OHAT), the ability test with the simulators and the OHAT as well as test feedback were conducted in a 30-minute practical programme. To evaluate the effectiveness of the programmes, questionnaires and ability tests with slides of oral images were conducted at baseline and after the programme. Results: Ninety-nine students (94.3%) participated in this study. The results of the ability test with the simulators and the OHAT in the practical programme showed that the correct answer rates of assessing tongue, gingiva, present teeth, and oral pain were less than 40%. Their levels of confidence, perception, and oral assessment performance were statistically significantly higher after the programmes than they were at baseline. Their level of confidence in assessing the need for dental referral had the largest increase in scores compared to the lowest scores at baseline in the nine post-programme assessment categories. Conclusions: This study identified several problems with nursing students’ oral assessment skills and improvements of their oral assessment confidence, perceptions and performance. Purpose: There is little known about the state of teacher education programs in this field. The aim of this article is to provide a descriptive analysis of physical education and health education teacher education programs in the United States. Method: Using published curriculums, a census of active undergraduate teacher education programs and a more in-depth analysis of one program from each state based on interviews with program coordinators was conducted. Findings: Data are reported across nine categories: (a) institution and program classifications, (b) degree designations, (c) degree and major's hours, (d) enrollment, (e) program status and trends, (f) admission and graduation requirements, (g) curricular time, (h) faculty demographics, and (i) health education. Conclusions: The data show that there is a broad interpretation of what counts as physical and health teacher education in terms of curriculum, and there are significant and pressing challenges for the field to address moving forward. Backgrounds: The use of large language models (LLMs) in medicine can help physicians improve the quality and effectiveness of health care by increasing the efficiency of medical information management, patient care, medical research, and clinical decision-making. Methods: We collected 34 frequently asked questions about glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis (GIOP), covering topics related to the disease's clinical manifestations, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and risk factors. We also generated 25 questions based on the 2022 American College of Rheumatology Guideline for the Prevention and Treatment of Glucocorticoid-Induced Osteoporosis (2022 ACR-GIOP Guideline). Each question was posed to the LLM (ChatGPT-3.5, ChatGPT-4, and Google Gemini), and three senior orthopedic surgeons independently rated the responses generated by the LLMs. Three senior orthopedic surgeons independently rated the answers based on responses ranging between 1 and 4 points. A total score (TS) > 9 indicated 'good' responses, 6 ≤ TS ≤ 9 indicated 'moderate' responses, and TS < 6 indicated 'poor' responses. Results: In response to the general questions related to GIOP and the 2022 ACR-GIOP Guidelines, Google Gemini provided more concise answers than the other LLMs. In terms of pathogenesis, ChatGPT-4 had significantly higher total scores (TSs) than ChatGPT-3.5. The TSs for answering questions related to the 2022 ACR-GIOP Guideline by ChatGPT-4 were significantly higher than those for Google Gemini. ChatGPT-3.5 and ChatGPT-4 had significantly higher self-corrected TSs than pre-corrected TSs, while Google Gemini self-corrected for responses that were not significantly different than before. Conclusions: Our study showed that Google Gemini provides more concise and intuitive responses than ChatGPT-3.5 and ChatGPT-4. ChatGPT-4 performed significantly better than ChatGPT3.5 and Google Gemini in terms of answering general questions about GIOP and the 2022 ACR-GIOP Guidelines. Background: Parasitic diseases remain a serious public health problem in China. Health education aimed at disseminating health-related knowledge and promoting healthy behaviours, plays a crucial role in the prevention and control of parasitic diseases. This study aims to develop a tool to measure the parasitic disease health literacy of residents in China. Methods: Scale development was based on qualitative and quantitative methods. Qualitative method included focus group discussions and Delphi consultations. A methodological design with multistage sampling and a pilot study was used to evaluate the questionnaire. The scale's reliability was tested using Cronbach's α and split-half reliability, while its construct validity was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis. The scale's passing score was determined using the receiver operating characteristic curve. A cross-sectional survey was conducted in six districts of the prefecture of Jiangsu and residents aged 14–69 years in the participating townships were randomly selected based on their location. Results: The health literacy indicator system for parasitic diseases included 3 first-level, 9 s-level and 23 third-level indicators. The 23-item questionnaire demonstrated good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.774) and split-half reliability (Spearman-Brown coefficient = 0.778). The questionnaire's passing score was 60. A total of 990 valid questionnaires were collected from participants in three cities. The percentage of participants with health literacy regarding parasitic diseases was 15.8%. Their scores were influenced by age, income, employment, and educational level. Conclusions: Health literacy of parasitic diseases is an integrated indicator rather than just knowledge or behavior information. The correlation between knowledge and behavior is weak. The capacity for healthy behavior of parasitic disease is associated with the location and culture of the city. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a global health threat. This randomized controlled trial evaluates the impact of experiential virtual reality (VR) versus information provision via VR or leaflet on prudent antibiotic use. A total of 249 (239 analyzed) participants were randomized into three conditions: VR Information + Experience, VR Information, or Leaflet Information. All participants received AMR information, while those in the VR Information + Experience condition additionally engaged in a game, making treatment decisions for their virtual avatar's infection. Participants in the VR Information + Experience condition showed a significant increase in prudent use intentions from baseline (d = 1.48). This increase was significantly larger compared to the VR Information (d = 0.50) and Leaflet Information (d = 0.79) conditions. The increase in intentions from baseline remained significant at follow-up in the VR Information + Experience condition (d = 1.25). Background: In Ethiopia, 79 million people live in soil transmitted helminths endemic areas. The Ethiopia established a National goal to eradicate STH transmission by 2025. To meet that goal, it is imperative that data is acquired on community helminth infection risk. This study examined the prevalence of STH and risk factors for infection in vegetable farmers working on Akaki River Bank, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between November 7, 2022, and June 2023. A stratified random sampling was used to select farming households. Two hundred and sixteen farmers were enrolled in the study. Data on socio-demographic, WASH, wastewater irrigation related factors were collected by trained data collectors using a structured questionnaire. Kato-Katz concentration was utilized to detect STH. The data were entered using EpiData 3.1 and analyzed with Stata 14.0, using p-values less than 0.05 to identify significant factors. Logistic regression was used to identify independent risk factors for infection. Results: The prevalence of STH was 22.2% (95% CI = 13.6-27.9%), with Ascaris lumbricoides being the most common (11.1%), followed by hookworm (7.4%), and Trichuris trichiura (3.7%). Low income levels (AOR = 1.85, 95% CI = 1.25–5.99), lack of handwashing before eating (AOR = 2.25, 95% CI = 1.58 − 11.3), absence of fingernails cleanliness (AOR = 1.97, 95% CI = 1.74–39.5), not wearing shoes at work (AOR = 3.4, 95% CI = 2.98–82.2), touching the face with dirty hands (AOR = 2.9, 95% CI = 0.68–28.2), washing vegetables with irrigation wastewater (AOR = 2.1, 95% CI = 1.95–45.2), and not wearing protective clothing during farming activities (AOR = 2.99, 95% CI = 1.58 − 22.4) were the significant risk factors for infection with STH. Conclusion: Of the farming communities examined in this study, one of the five was found to be infected with soil transmitted helminth. This research has shown clear risk factors for STH infection including: lack of personal hygiene practices, insufficient sanitation access, and limited use of protective equipment. To achieve the national goal, there is a need for farming communities to understand preventative risks of infection, improve WASH (Water access, sanitation and hygine) practices, WASH access, protective equipment, and health education. Blood transfusion has a hazard of transmission of many pathogens, including Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) and other venereal infections. It is crucial to conduct epidemiological surveillance to detect the prevalence of these pathogens. The study aimed to assess the seroprevalence of T. gondii and common transfusable venereal infections among healthy blood donors in Menoufia Province, Egypt, and identify associated risk factors. Four hundred twenty individuals were recruited between January and April 2023 for cross-sectional descriptive research from the blood banks of Menoufia University medical hospitals. Collected blood samples were screened for anti-T. gondii IgM and IgG, HBsAg, anti-HCV antibodies, HIV p24 antigen and anti-HIV antibodies, and anti-Treponema pallidum antibodies. 46 (11.0%) and 22 donors (5.2%) individuals tested positive for anti-T. gondii IgG with a 95% CI (8.3–14.6) and IgM with a 95% CI (3.5–8.1), respectively, while one patient (0.2%) was positive for both antibodies. Regarding venereal infections, 12 (2.9%) were positive for HBV, 6 (1.4%) were positive for HCV, 7 (1.7%) were positive for HIV, and none of the tested population showed positivity for syphilis. Female gender, consumption of raw meat, agricultural environment, poor awareness about T. gondii, and blood group type (especially AB and O groups) were identified as independent risk factors for T. gondii infection. The study highlights the importance of testing blood donors for T. gondii and common transfusable venereal illnesses. Starting health education programs and preventative measures, such as suitable meat handling and cleanliness practices, is critical for minimizing the occurrence of these illnesses. Introduction: To reduce mortality, the Taiwan government has vigorously promoted free cancer screening and preventive health screening services. Cancers are usually advanced by the time they are discovered in the emergency department. Through this study, we aimed to understand the characteristics of cancer patients diagnosed through the emergency department and thus identify high-risk populations by comparing cancer staging and survival rates in patients diagnosed in the emergency department and those diagnosed in the non-emergency department. Methods: The retrospective study enrolled a total of 389,043 patients over the age of 20 who were newly diagnosed with one of the five major cancers (including lung cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer, and oral cancer) between 2008 and 2017 and analyzed their diagnostic pathway, cancer stage at diagnosis, and survival time. Results: Of the study participants, 59,423 patients (about 15.3%) were diagnosed with cancer through the emergency department. We found that a sizable proportion of older people and patients with low education and low incomes were diagnosed through emergency department visits, and those with a health condition comorbidity severity of 3 had the highest proportion diagnosed by the emergency department, advanced stages at diagnosis, and risk of death. These can be classified as high-risk groups. In addition, 76.4% of patients diagnosed in the emergency department had advanced cancer, and the risk of death was 1.46 times higher than that of patients diagnosed in the non-emergency department. Although cancer screening is available, it does not reduce the proportion of patients with advanced cancer who are diagnosed through or at the time of diagnosis in the emergency department. Conclusions: The present study found that the government's cancer screening did not affect the proportion or number of cancers diagnosed through emergency department visits. Therefore, the government should focus on more cancer screening, health education in high-risk groups, and strengthening the link between emergency and oncology departments to reduce the risk of death for patients diagnosed through emergency department visits. Background: Improving maternal healthcare services is crucial to achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-3), which aims to reduce maternal mortality and morbidity. There is a consensus among different researchers that proper utilization of maternal healthcare services can improve the reproductive health of women, and this can be achieved by providing Antenatal Care (ANC) during pregnancy, Health Facility Delivery (HFD), and Postnatal Care (PNC) to all pregnant women. The main aim of this study was to investigate the utilization and factors associated with maternal and child healthcare services among women of reproductive age in the pastoralist communities in Kenya. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 180 pastoralist women who gave birth in the past two years across ten mobile villages in Marsabit County between 2nd January and 29th February 2019. Three key outcomes were analyzed, whether they attended ANC 4+ visits, delivered at HF, and received PNC. Pearson χ2 test and multivariate logistic regression analysis were conducted by IBM SPSS27.0 following Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) guidelines. The significance level was set at p < 0.05. Results: Of the 180 eligible pastoralist women (mean age 27.44 ± 5.13 years), 92.2% were illiterate, 93.9% were married, 33.3% were in polygamy, and 14.4% had mobile phones. The median commuting distance was 15.00 (10–74) km, 41.7% attended ANC 4+, 33.3% HFD, and 42.8% PNC. Those women residing close (≤ 15 km) to a health facility had a threefold higher ANC 4+ (OR 3.10, 95% CI 1.47–6.53), 2.8-fold higher HFD (OR 2.80, 95% CI 1.34–5.84), and 2.5-fold higher PNC (OR 2.49, 95% CI 1.19–5.22) probability. The likelihood was 30-fold higher for ANC 4+ (OR 29.88, 95% CI 6.68–133.62), 2.5-fold higher for HFD (OR 2.56, 95% CI 0.99–6.63), and 60-fold higher for PNC (OR 60.46, 95% CI 10.43–350.55) in women with mobile phones. A monogamous marriage meant a fivefold higher ANC 4+ (OR 5.17, 95% CI 1.88–14.23), 1.6-fold higher HFD (OR 1.67, 95% CI 0.77–3.62), and a sevenfold higher PNC (OR 7.05, 95% CI 2.35–21.19) likelihood. Hosmer Lemeshow test indicated a good-fitting model for ANC 4+, HFD, and PNC (p = 0.790, p = 0.441, p = 0.937, respectively). Conclusion: In conclusion, the utilization of three essential maternal health services is low. Geographic proximity, monogamous marriage, and possession of mobile phones were significant predictors. Therefore, it is recommended that stakeholders take the initiative to bring this service closer to the pastoralist community by providing mobile health outreach and health education. Living close to a health facility means almost three times more antenatal care, two times more health facility delivery, and checkups after delivery. Women with mobile phones showed twenty-seven more times chances to attend antenatal care, more than four times chances to deliver in a health facility and sixty times more chances of having checkups after delivery. Monogamous marriage showed five times higher odds to attend ANC 4+ visits, and seven times having checkups after delivery. Introduction: Patient education programmes focusing on risk factor modification and lifestyle changes are well established as part of cardiac rehabilitation in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). As participation rates are low, digital patient education programmes (DPE) are interesting alternatives to increase access. Understanding patients' perceptions of DPE are important in terms of successful implementation in clinical practice but are not well known. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess patients' perceptions of using a DPE in terms of end-user acceptance and usability, perceived significance for lifestyle changes and secondary preventive goal fulfilment in patients with CAD. Methods: This was a cross-sectional survey-based study. The survey was distributed to all 1625 patients with acute coronary syndrome or chronic CAD with revascularisation, who were registered users of the DPE between 2020 and 2022 as part of cardiac rehabilitation. The survey contained 64 questions about e.g., acceptance and usability, perceived significance for making lifestyle changes and secondary preventive goal fulfilment. Patients who had never logged in to the DPE received questions about their reasons for not logging in. Data were analysed descriptively. Results: A total of 366 patients (mean age: 69.1 ± 11.3 years, 20% female) completed the survey and among those 207 patients (57%) had used the DPE. Patients reported that the DPE was simple to use (80%) and improved access to healthcare (67–75%). A total of 69% of the patients were generally satisfied with the DPE, > 60% reported that the DPE increased their knowledge about secondary preventive treatment goals and approximately 60% reported having a healthy lifestyle today. On the other hand, 35% of the patients would have preferred a hospital-based education programme. Among the 159 patients (43%) who had never used the DPE, the most reported reason was a perceived need for more information about how to use the DPE (52%). Conclusions: This study shows an overall high level of patient acceptance and usability of the DPE, which supports its continued development and long-term role in cardiac rehabilitation in patients with CAD. Background: Although a universal vaccine is available and Ethiopia is working outstandingly towards measles elimination, a recurrent measles outbreak has occurred each year in different parts of the country. Therefore, understanding the epidemiology of measles cases, the incidence of confirmed measles virus cases and related risk factors is crucial. Here, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to summarize information regarding the epidemiology, measles incidence rate and risk factors for national measles infections occurring in the past two decades, from 2000 to 2023. Methods: Data from electronic databases, including PubMed, African Journal Online, WHO databases and Google Scholars, were searched to identify studies describing measles outbreaks, incidence rates and associated factors in Ethiopia that occurred between 2000 and 2023. Important basic information was extracted in an Excel spreadsheet and imported into Comprehensive Meta-analysis Software version 3 to evaluate the associations between measles outbreaks and different risk factors. We pooled the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for every included risk factor to evaluate the associations with measles outbreaks. Results: We included 36 studies involving 132,502 patients with confirmed measles cases in Ethiopia. The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis revealed that measles outbreaks were more frequently reported in the Oromia region (73,310 (33.1%)), followed by the Southern Nation Nationalities of Ethiopia region (29,057 (13.4%)). The overall pooled analysis indicated that the prevalence of measles susceptibility was 67.5% (95% CI: 67.3–67.8%), with an I2 of 99.86% and a p value for heterogeneity < 0.0001. The non-vaccinated status of the children, their contact history with measles cases, their travel history, the presence of cases in family or neighbors, and malnourished patients were identified as factors associated with the high prevalence and recurrent measles infections in Ethiopia. Conclusion: The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis indicated that the pooled prevalence of measles infection was high, which is a public health concern in Ethiopia. BACKGROUND: Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), such as Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) transmitted by biological, socioeconomic and cultural factors that increase the vulnerability of certain population groups such as civil construction workers. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the knowledge of workers in the construction industry about infection by HIV and associated factors. METHODS: A cross-sectional, analytical study was conducted, including 381 construction workers, in the cities of João Pessoa, Cabedelo, and Santa Rita, in the State of Paraíba, Brazil, performed through interviews, using a data collection instrument with social demographic variables and the HIV Knowledge Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive measures, and for comparison between the categories the Kruskal-Wallis test was used, with margin of error of 5%. RESULTS: A predominance of male workers was observed (97.4%) among 381 workers; aged 30-39 (34.1%); married (81.4%); with up to eight years of education (66.6%); family income of up to 2x the minimum wage (52.8%) and coming from the country (43.8%). The average of correct responses was 63.3%, with higher indices (70.0%) related to transmission and forms of prevention. There were higher percentages of hits among those who had studied for 12 years or more. Workers from the capital of Paraíba presented a higher number of correct responses (67.44%). CONCLUSIONS: There is a low index of knowledge of construction workers about HIV, highlighting their consequent vulnerability to acquiring this infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Poor medication adherence is a significant public health issue, especially among the vulnerable elderly, leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. This study aimed to explore, identify, and understand the barriers and facilitators to medication adherence among vulnerable elderly individuals. We conducted a qualitative study using focus group interviews with 31 participants, including community nurses, social care services, volunteers from non-governmental organizations, patient association members, and informal caregivers, using semi-structured questions and inductive content analysis to gather and analyze qualitative data. Two main categories, "Perceived barriers" and "Facilitative interventions" were developed. The findings revealed multiple barriers, including medication-related barriers, patient-related barriers and barriers related to the healthcare system and healthcare personnel. Participants also highlighted the importance of facilitating interventions like medication management, health education, supportive social networks, and ensuring continuity of care. Silicosis typically has been classified as a chronic disease that develops after at least 10 years of exposure to silica dust, and often is associated with miners and stone workers. As industries have changed over time, other types of workers (including those in artificial stonework, jewelry polishing, and denim production) have become exposed to high levels of silica, leading to the development of acute and accelerated silicosis. Acute silicosis can develop in as little as a few months, and accelerated silicosis can develop in as little as 2 years. No cure exists for any form of silicosis, and lung transplantation is the only lifesaving treatment. Simple Summary: Screening for breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer is correlated with diagnosis at an earlier stage, less extensive surgery, and reduced mortality and fewer complications. Adherence rates to cancer screening are lower for individuals with low socio-economic conditions and educational attainment. These social disparities are only partially reduced by free screening through national initiatives. Education and information and appropriate expenditure for preventive care have the potentials to increase adherence to screening for colorectal, breast, and cervical cancer with the possibility of reduced cancer mortality. The findings of our study highlight the importance of the implementation of nationally organized screening programs for several other types of cancers that are often detected after the occurrence of symptoms. The objective of this study was to determine the correlation between adherence to cancer screening programs and earlier diagnosis of the 14 most common types of cancers in the adult population, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. National data concerning number of admissions and operations in Italy for adult patients admitted with oncologic problems during the COVID-19 pandemic (2020 to 2022) and in the pre-pandemic period (2015 to 2019) were analyzed. We selected 14 types of cancer that present the most common indications for surgery in Italy. This study included 1,365,000 adult patients who had surgery for the 14 most common types of cancer in the period 2015–2022, and interviews concerning adherence rates to screening for breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer were conducted for 133,455 individuals. A higher decrease in the number of operations for the 14 types of cancer (−45%) was registered during the first three acute phases of the pandemic, and it was more evident for screenable cancers like breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer (p < 0.001). During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of screened individuals for breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer decreased by 33.8% (from 7,507,893 to 4,969,000) and the number of diagnoses and operations for these three types of cancer decreased by 10.5% (from 107,656 to 96,405). The increase and return to normality of the number of screened individuals in the last year of the pandemic (2022) and in the first post-pandemic year (2023) was associated with a return to the pre-pandemic levels of diagnoses and operations. The adherence rates were lower for individuals living in rural areas, with low socio-economic status, and unmarried persons; however, the most statistically significant factor for reduced adherence was a lower level of educational attainment. Free screening through nationally organized programs reduced social disparities. There were no significant differences between the pre-pandemic and pandemic periods for several types of cancers (stomach, esophagus, pancreas, liver) that are diagnosed for the occurrence of symptoms and for which nationally organized programs might increase the possibility of earlier diagnosis and improved clinical outcomes. Migraine-related stigma is a pervasive issue impacting nearly half of chronic migraine patients, with significant consequences for their quality of life, disability and mental health. Despite its profound effects, migraine stigma remains under-recognised in both clinical practice and research. This narrative review explores the three primary types of stigmas affecting migraine patients: public, structural and internalised. Public stigma involves negative societal attitudes and stereotypes that trivialise the condition. Structural stigma is reflected in policies that restrict access to necessary care and resources. Internalised stigma occurs when patients absorb these negative views, leading to self-blame and diminished self-worth. Addressing these different types of stigmas is crucial for improving the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of migraine. Educational efforts, advocacy and policy reform are essential strategies in this context. A deep understanding of stigma is vital for developing effective interventions that enhance clinical management and patient quality of life. INTRODUCTION The World Health Organization attributes hypertension, as the leading cause of cardiovascular mortality. According to NFHS-5, Overall prevalence of hypertension among age group 15 years and above in India is 29%. The sex specific prevalence is 33.1% for males and 24.9% for females. Overall prevalence of hypertension among age group 15-49 years in Madhya Pradesh is 14%. This study was undertaken to estimate the prevalence and associated risk factors of hypertension in Sagar city. METHODOLOGY A community based cross-sectional study was carried out among the people aged 20 to 60 years living in Sagar city. Multi-stage sampling method was used. The study was conducted from September 2022 to August 2023. Modified and pretested WHO stepwise approach to chronic disease risk factor surveillance (STEPS) was used for data collection. Data was compiled using MS-Excel and analysis was done with the help of IBM SPSS 26.0. RESULTS Present study showed that prevalence of hypertension was 17.2% among study participants. Out of 550 study participants, 283 (51.5%) were male and 267 (48.5%) were females. Hypertension was found to be more in old aged male. Hypertension was found more in smokers, those who were consuming extra salt in diet and those who had family history of hypertension. CONCLUSION Present study showed that nearly one sixth of the study participants were found to be hypertensive. As the awareness of the hypertension status among hypertensive cases was very poor, improving the health education regarding hypertension to increase the awareness about hypertension is the need of the hour. Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common and persistent cardiac arrhythmia in clinical practice, with an overall prevalence in the world is estimated to be 0.47%, but there is significant regional variation and has various predisposing factors and causes. Methodology: A descriptive study was undertaken in Tertiary teaching hospital Bengaluru. Study population was considered from in-patients of all the departments of the hospital. A pretested Semi structured questionnaire was administered on study subjects. Results: Most of the study participants were aged above 60 years, with slight male 33(55%) preponderance compared to female 27(45%). The most common underlying comorbidity was Rheumatic heart disease 26(43.3%) and among rheumatic heart disease, mitral stenosis was the most common valvular lesion observed i.e. 15 cases out of 26 cases. 29% of study participants with atrial fibrillation belonged to normal category in BMI range according to South East Asian region but 25% of them where in Obese 1 category. Underlying heart condition i.e. 60 (100%) and obesity 38 (61.3%) were most commonly seen Risk factors among study participants. Conclusion: Atrial fibrillation is seen to increase in prevalence with advancing age. No significant difference was found with respect to gender, the ratio of male: female is 55:45. Rheumatic valvular heart disease was the most common etiology of atrial fibrillation observed in the present study. Objective: This study aimed to explore the perceptions of frontline Healthcare Workers (HCWs) towards managing COVID-19 in Tertiary care hospital in Pakistan. Method: This qualitative exploratory study was conducted from January to May 2021 at a Tertiary care hospital designated for COVID-19 patients in Rawalpindi Pakistan. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted from twenty six HCWs. To acquire a sample that was diverse in terms of professional capacity, degree of experience and exposure, purposive sampling technique was used. After thematic analysis, themes were generated by identifying patterns among codes. Results: Five themes emerged. All HCWs experienced significant amount of negative emotions including fear, uncertainty, imposing social distancing and workload. There were also positive experiences such as rewarding, call of duty and professional growth. HCWs experiences related to personal protective equipment (PPE) were communication issues, physical and dermatological issues, reuse and working confidently while wearing PPE. HCWs were buoyed by cooperation and facilitation, trainings and health education from administration. Coping mechanisms were used such as seeking team support, adjusting cognition to deal with reality and resorting to religion. Conclusion: Negative emotions predominated in the beginning and positive emotions emerged gradually. PPE and administrative support played significant role. HCWs’ mental health was maintained in part by their self-coping styles. The findings of this study can be employed to inform and enhance future pandemic response initiatives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective This study explores the perspectives of Australian community pharmacists regarding digital health interventions, examining adoption rates, advantages, and barriers. Methods A national voluntary online survey was conducted with Australian community pharmacists from September 2022 to June 2023. Results Of the 120 responses received, 118 were analysed. The main benefits identified included improved access to health records and patient care quality while major concerns included technical issues and data security. Suggestions for increased digital health adoption included digital health education and regulation. Conclusions Australian community pharmacists play a crucial role in adopting digital health yet face significant challenges. Despite the potential of telehealth, community pharmacists have not widely embraced its adoption in their practice. Background Soil-transmitted helminths (STH) and schistosomiasis remain widely prevalent in Ethiopia. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of STH and schistosomiasis among schoolchildren in Gidi Bench district (Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People's Republic, Southwest Ethiopia) and the association with knowledge and health-related behaviors. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted. Stool samples, analyzed by the Kato-Katz technique and a knowledge, attitudes and practices questionnaire, were collected. Results Out of 611 participants (mean age 12.8±3.1 y), 129 (21.1%) were infected with schistosomiasis and 382 (62.5%) had STH. More than 30% (n=195, 31.9%) were infected with a single intestinal parasite, while 138 (22.6%) and 47 (7.7%) were infected with two or three parasitic infections, respectively. Boys and those who did not participate in school clubs had higher infection rates (p=0.05). Lower parasitic infection was associated with using a latrine when available, washing hands and vegetables and wearing shoes regularly. Higher rates of infection were found among those who reported swimming and washing cloths and utensils in the river regularly. Conclusions Schistosomiasis and STH were highly prevalent among schoolchildren in Gidi Bench district. Infection rates were associated with gender, lack of knowledge on parasitic infections and unhealthy behaviors. Results: The current study found a relationship between moms' educational level and knowledge regard to sociodemographic characteristics with a p-value of .001. However, there were no significant correlations observed between mothers' knowledge in the control group and their age, level of education, occupation, residency, monthly income, and sources of information. Conclusion: Following the interventional program on nutrition-related health, the level of knowledge among the mothers in the study group was enhanced. The study suggested that the nutrition education program should be offered to all moms in order to enhance their understanding and enthusiasm regarding the significance of child nutrition. Background: Depression is prevalent among individuals who smoke cigarettes and increases risk for relapse. A previous clinical trial suggests that Goal2Quit, a behavioral activation-based smoking cessation mobile app, effectively increases smoking abstinence and reduces depressive symptoms. Objective: Secondary analyses were conducted on these trial data to identify predictors of success in depression-specific digitalized cessation interventions. Methods: Adult who smoked cigarettes (age = 38.4 ± 10.3, 53% women) were randomized to either use Goal2Quit for 12 weeks (N = 103), paired with a 2-week sample of nicotine replacement therapy (patch and lozenge) or to a Treatment-As-Usual (TAU) control (N = 47). The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator was utilized to identify a subset of baseline variables predicting either smoking or depression intervention outcomes. The retained predictors were then fitted via linear regression models to determine relations to each intervention outcome. Results: Relative to TAU, only individuals who spent significant time using Goal2Quit (56 ± 46 min) were more likely to reduce cigarette use by at least 50% after 12 weeks, whereas those who spent minimal time using Goal2Quit (10 ± 2 min) did not exhibit significant changes. An interaction between educational attainment and treatment group revealed that, as compared to TAU, only app users with an educational degree beyond high school exhibited significant reductions in depression. Conclusions: The findings highlight the importance of tailoring depression-specific digital cessation interventions to individuals' unique engagement needs and educational level. Objective: Many parents experience lack of support and access to resources on how to prepare, handle, and provide formula milk to their infants. The purpose of this scoping review was to map and describe key information in existing research about how healthcare professionals receive information and how they inform and counsel parents about formula milk. Design: A scoping review fulfilling the PRISMA‐ScR checklist criteria used systematic searches targeting the study objective in the databases Embase, MEDLINE, and CINAHL on February 8th and 9th, 2022. Results: Six studies with 959 participants in total were included. The research designs were focus group studies with and without combining individual interviews, an individual interview study, a study consisting of individual interviews and ethnographic observations, a survey, and a two‐phase study consisting of a qualitative interview and a quantitative survey. Findings indicate lack of evidence‐based information provided about infant formula by health care professionals when they counsel parents on formula feeding. Conclusions: Few studies focus on how healthcare professionals inform and counsel parents about formula milk. Health authorities should provide more evidence‐based information to make formula feeding more feasible. Introduction: Inconsistency of sexual definitions may lead to misunderstandings when evaluating research data or delivering health education. Diverse sexual definitions are especially common with unidirectional genital contacts (only one participant is involved with their genitals). Our aim was to analyze sexual definitions of adolescents and the role of age, gender, previous sexual experience, anxiety, and body image as possible determinants of unidirectional intimate behavior definitions. Methods: Pooled cross-sectional survey data of 9th-grade Hungarian students (n = 612, mean age = 16.1 years, range from 15 to 18 years) were used from the baseline assessment (conducted in 2019 and 2020) of the Balassagyarmat Health Education Program. Our questionnaire was based on the Sexual Definitions Survey. The associations of definition of manual and oral stimulation with gender, age, sexual experience, trait anxiety, and body image were further examined in a multilevel logistic regression model. Results: The rating of different sexual behaviors as sex showed a hierarchy from kissing (10.3%) to vaginal intercourse (98.5%). Manual and oral stimulation was claimed to be sex by 73.4% and 84.3% of students. Girls (OR = 0.40; CI = 0.25–0.62) and older participants (OR = 0.75; CI = 0.59–0.96) were less likely to consider manual stimulation as sex. Conversely, previous sexual experience, anxiety, and body image were not significant predictors. Conclusions: Our study is the first to investigate sexual definitions among non-English-speaking adolescents. It contributes to the understanding of ambiguity regarding the definitions of oral and manual stimulation in this specific age group. Policy implications: As adolescents are the primary focus of sexual education, policies should take into consideration the semantic differences in sexual definitions, as these may influence the participants' interpretation of information and have an effect on their sexual behavior. In November 2021, two grassroots organizations in Boston, Massachusetts—a housing and health justice organization and a student-led nonprofit—established an initiative to provide persons experiencing homelessness (PEH) near the Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard ("Mass&Cass") intersection in Boston with access to free COVID-19 education and other wrap-around services. They partnered with hospitals, public health organizations, and advocacy groups to make this happen. In the United States, adolescents suffer from inadequate menstrual health, meaning that adolescents are unprepared for menarche, lack the practical resources they need to comfortably and confidently manage menstruation, and receive inadequate health education and care for menstrual pain and disorders. In this article, we provide a historical analysis of the role of school nurses in addressing menstruation from the early 20th century up to the present day. We contextualize the current realities of school nursing and menstrual health education and clinical support. We argue that the decentralized US school system, a cultural aversion to open discussion about menstruation, and the outsized influence of commercial menstrual product manufacturers have hampered the ability of school nurses to deliver menstrual health education along with menstrual health support. Finally, we discuss implications for today's schooling experiences as well as recommendations for how to support school nurses in aligning our national approach to menstrual health toward the public health perspective of menstrual equity. Objective: Research shows that personal relevance may affect the impact of alcohol-related health information. This study explored alcohol consumption during the UK Covid-19 lockdown, and whether a message emphasising the effect of alcohol on the immune system was more effective in altering intentions to follow low-risk drinking guidelines than other messages about the effects of alcohol on health. Methods & Measures: From April to June 2020, 953 drinkers completed an online questionnaire, and were randomly allocated to exposure to a control condition or one of three messages emphasising the impact of alcohol on: the immune system; mental health; or physical health. Outcome variables were: concern about alcohol intake, and intention to adhere to low-risk drinking guidelines. Results: Pre-post ANCOVAs revealed that participants in the immunity message group had significantly stronger intention to adhere to low-risk guidelines than the control group (after controlling for initial intention). Concern for the effect of alcohol on health was not significantly affected. Conclusion: During Covid-19 lockdown, a message emphasising the impact of alcohol on the immune-system had a greater effect on intention to observe low-risk drinking guidelines than other messages. This study was designed to test the effects of two message features (source and level of autonomy support) that are commonly found in short-form social media (e.g. TikTok) videos about Pap tests. The source is defined as who is communicating the message, and autonomy support refers to providing an individual with the independence, respect, and choice to make their own decision. In an online experiment, 636 females aged 21–29 viewed TikTok videos about Pap tests varying in source (doctor vs. peer) and level of autonomy support (either using controlling language to demand getting a Pap test or being supportive of one's choice of whether they receive a Pap test) and then responded to outcomes measures including perceived source credibility, perceived message effectiveness, attitude toward the message, attitude toward Pap tests, intention to engage with the videos, and intention to get a Pap test. Doctors were perceived as more credible than peers, and doctor videos were perceived to be more effective than peer videos. Autonomy support interacted with source, such that autonomy-supportive videos delivered by a doctor improved attitude toward the messaging and attitude toward Pap tests. Regardless of the source, autonomy-supportive videos increased intention to engage with the content on social media. As Pap test rates have recently declined among young women in the United States and viewing of Pap test-related videos has skyrocketed on the TikTok platform, short-form social media sites like TikTok may be an effective health communication tool for health professionals. Seven of the top ten leading causes of death in the United States are due to chronic diseases and treating these accounts for 86 percent of our nation's health care costs. The workplace offers an environment to implement chronic disease prevention strategies, such as worksite wellness programs, due to the large amount of time spent at the worksite daily by employees. As a result of COVID-19, many organizations began to change their workdays (i.e., working from home). This research sought to understand what, if any, implications the COVID-19 epidemic had on worksite wellness programming. Semistructured interviews were employed and recorded via Zoom conferencing to gather qualitative data. Four themes were identified: (a) relationship building among remote employees, (b) creativity in how to carry out program components, (c) increased physical activity and work-life balance, and (d) increased knowledge of health issues and mental health resources. Both challenges and successes were reported within themes. The main finding from this research indicates a mostly positive experience for worksite wellness programs during the COVID-19 epidemic. Many organizations have continued nontraditional work environments and the lessons learned from this study can both encourage and provide ideas for how to create and continue a worksite wellness program outside of the normal face-to-face working environment. Introduction. Research suggests that awareness of e-cigarette, or vaping, product-use associated lung injury (EVALI) among adolescents is associated with increased harm perception of e-cigarettes. The depiction of EVALI on three primetime medical dramas offers an opportunity to examine the use of these storylines for tobacco prevention education. Methods. We conducted four focus groups with seventh- and eighth-grade students at an urban middle school. Participants viewed three clips of scenes followed by a facilitated discussion as to the influence of the clips on knowledge and perceptions of e-cigarettes and the use of clips for tobacco prevention education. Two research assistants double-coded notes from the focus groups using a qualitative content analysis approach. Results. Our final sample included 78 adolescents; we obtained self-reported demographic information for 75. The majority of participants were 13 to 14 years of age (82.7%) and identified as cisgender female (52.0%) and Black (52.0%). No participants had knowledge of EVALI prior to viewing the clips. Comments made both during and after watching suggest the clips may have reinforced knowledge and perceptions of harm; participants stated that the clips could be a useful intervention tool. Viewing the clips also generated unprompted discussion about flavored products, tobacco advertising, other television programs, and marijuana. Conclusions. Clips featuring the depiction of EVALI on medical dramas may be an effective tool for raising awareness of e-cigarette use-related harms. These results offer a promising first step for future collaborative research between public health, adolescents, and schools to develop tobacco prevention education utilizing these clips. Through Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration funding, Michigan State University (MSU) Extension partnered with MSU's Family Medicine and Health Department of Northwest Michigan to implement trainings for community members and health care providers to increase awareness and improve prevention efforts addressing opioid use disorder (OUD) in rural areas. We formed the Michigan Substance Use Prevention, Education and Recovery (MiSUPER) project to design and evaluate opioid misuse prevention trainings. A socio-ecological prevention model was an underlying conceptual framework for this project and drove strategies used in trainings, products created, and measurement. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of one-time online educational training events for rural community members and health care providers on community OUD issues, treatment options, and supports for those in recovery. Between 2020 and 2022, rural participants completed pre- and posttraining, and 30-day follow-up evaluation surveys. We report the demographic characteristics of community (n = 451) and provider (n = 59) participants, self-reported knowledge gained, and overall perceptions of the trainings. Findings show community members' knowledge increased from pre- to posttraining (p <.001) and was maintained at 3 months, while providers' knowledge was unchanged over time. Posttraining, community participants felt more comfortable speaking about addiction with family and friends (p <.001), and providers had better knowledge of local resources for patients who could not afford opioid misuse treatments (p <.05). All participants reported gaining knowledge of community resources for opioid misuse prevention, treatment, and recovery (p <.01). Black youth and rural adolescents are two groups who experience asthma disparities. Racism and discrimination in health care likely lead to group-based (systems-level) medical mistrust for some adolescents. Group-based medical mistrust, one pathway by which racism drives health inequities, is associated with poorer outcomes for patients with chronic conditions. Despite its potential importance in adolescent asthma, previous research has not considered group-based medical mistrust in this population. To fill this gap, we characterize group-based medical mistrust among rural adolescents with poorly controlled asthma, examining demographic differences. We analyzed baseline data from a school-based clinical trial in which 164 adolescents (mean age = 16.3; 76.2% Black) completed the Group-Based Medical Mistrust Scale (GBMMS). Using linear regression, we tested associations with race, gender, and age, controlling for recent medical visits and insurance status. The total GBMMS mean score was 2.3 (SD = 1.22); subscale scores ranged from 2.3 to 2.4. Black adolescents reported significantly higher total GBMMS scores (β =.45, p =.003) and significantly higher scores on two GBMMS subscales: suspicion of health care providers (β =.56, p =.007) and lack of support from health care providers (β =.36, p =.007). Gender and age were not associated with GBMMS scores. Health care providers need to consider medical mistrust and its role in their clinical care. Together with their institutions, health care providers and researchers should work toward changing systems that perpetuate racism to build trust as a means of reducing asthma disparities among adolescents. Introduction: Early Head Start (EHS) and Head Start (HS) staff comprise a large segment of the public sector workforce and experience numerous risk and chronic factors for medical conditions or symptoms. Few health and wellness workplace interventions, however, specifically focus on EHS/HS staff. Methods: A train-the-trainer (TTT) approach was used to build capacity among directors and staff from 57 EHS/HS programs on how to strategically plan and implement a health promoting worksite program focusing on improving nutrition and physical activity practices among EHS/HS staff. Baseline and 3-month post-training questionnaires assessed EHS/HS staff changes on knowledge and practices related to nutrition and physical activity. Paired t-tests or chi2 statistics assessed changes in questionnaire responses over time. Results: 1,363 staff from 57 programs completed baseline and follow-up surveys. Staff had high knowledge regarding healthful dietary patterns at baseline. Over one-third of staff reported drinking soda with meals and almost 50% identified soda as their most common drink. Roughly one-third of staff also reported no physical activity in the prior week at baseline. Staff demonstrated significant improvements in dietary, nutrition, and physical activity practices. Staff also improved grocery shopping behaviors. Implications for Practice: The TTT approach to disseminate an EHS/HS staff-focused health promotion program, "Eat Healthy, Stay Active!' provides a potentially promising strategy to build upon and disseminate more broadly to reach the over >300,000 EHS/HS staff workforce. The article describes the case of a 59-year old Japanese man diagnosed with cerebellar cognitive affective syndrome (CCAS) caused by cerebellar atrophy associated with Wallerian degeneration after pontine haemorrhage. The patient demonstrated psychiatric symptoms, slow gait, configuration apraxia, cognitive and motor decline, decline in intelligence quotient and function. Symptoms of CCAS include motor deficits, decreased blood flow in the posterior cerebellar lobes and functional impairment.

BACKGROUND: Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among children and adolescents in the United States. Traditional injury education interventions for children often are inaccessible due to cost and logistics in underserved communities, exacerbating injury disparities. A new approach is needed to close this gap for families with preschool children. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEORY: Collaborating with Head Start preschools optimizes engagement and accessibility to families in underserved communities. Involving caregivers and community organizations addresses the limitations of conventional interventions and community‐specific injury prevention concerns. IMPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL HEALTH POLICY, PRACTICE, AND EQUITY: Pop‐up Safety Town offers a more affordable model for injury prevention education, particularly in underserved regions. The model's approach, using adaptable education, mobile and reusable materials, and volunteer staffing, offers greater potential for achieving sustainable impact in these underserved communities. BACKGROUND: This paper presents the process taken by a nonprofit educational organization to create authentic evaluation tools for Food Education in K‐12 schools. Development was a collaborative effort between organization staff and teachers during an Evaluation Summit. The program background, development of the Summit, and plans for post‐Summit work continuation are described. The Summit included 14 teacher participants (3‐4 per grade band in preK‐1, 2‐5, 6‐8, 9‐12). METHODS: The process of tool development was captured via direct observations and analysis of artifacts (eg, participants' brainstorming chart paper, online development documents) to identify themes in successful approaches and challenges. Additional post‐Summit activities were also captured via surveys and artifacts. Outcomes of this work are outlined, including the challenges in carrying out the creation of authentic assessments that accurately reflect the classroom teaching experience, and the value of in‐person community building in the Food Education space. RESULTS: Key findings relate to the importance of in‐person collaboration amongst teachers, centering students in evaluation, and equity and accessibility in tool development. CONCLUSIONS: Although outlining challenges and outcomes was not an a priori goal of this work, it provides important information for others working in the education nonprofit space—especially as it pertains to new approaches to classroom evaluation. Background: Infographics facilitate rapid information dissemination with enriched eye‐catching content on social media, but it is unclear what factors affect the adoption of information presented in this way. Objectives: We tested whether the Information Acceptance Model applies to infographics on healthy lifestyle and fitness topics. Methods: Two hundred and four university students were invited to participate in an online survey on their acceptance after reading some healthy lifestyle and fitness topics infographics shared on social media. The data collected were analysed using Partial Least Square path modelling. Results: The results confirmed information usefulness as a predictor of information adoption; attitude towards information and information adoption were the predictors of behavioural intention. Information credibility and attitude towards information, but not information quality and needs, were significantly related to information usefulness. Social media usage and education level were factors affecting infographics impressions. Discussion: Results support most hypotheses. It confirms information usefulness as a predictor of infographics adoption. Attitudes towards information and information adoption are predictors of behavioural intentions of following healthy lifestyle and fitness suggestions through social media infographics. Conclusion: Social media facilitates interpersonal communication, information exchange and knowledge sharing, and infographics may draw people into healthy lifestyle and fitness information items relevant to them. The Food and Health subject is a mandatory subject in primary and lower secondary schools in Norway and has many similarities to the internationally known subject Home Economics. This study aimed to examine how learning activities are structured in Food and Health education, both from the teacher's and the student's perspective. Momentary time sampling was used as the observation method, and we created "lesson signatures" of the Food and Health education based on the observational data. "Lesson signature" is a term used for an aggregate number of observed teaching sessions, and is intended to reveal specific external patterns, considering time use, organisation and teaching patterns. Data were collected from 23 observed Food and Health lessons from sixth and ninth grades in Norway. The signatures show that although the activity level of both teachers and students was high, teachers controlled and regulated the lessons. Teaching methods consisted mainly of group work. Students spent a small proportion of the lesson listening, and conversation and discussion as a collective were virtually absent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Suboptimal medication adherence is common among patients with cardiovascular diseases. We sought evidence on non-pharmacological interventions used to support adherence for patients with hypertension and/or dyslipidemia. Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, MEDLINE In-Process, ClinicalTrials.gov, EUCTR, and conference proceedings from July 2011 to July 2021 to identify trials evaluating effects of health education, phone reminders, or digital interventions on medication adherence or persistence of adult patients with hypertension and/or dyslipidemia. Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Assessment Tool v2. Results: Of 64 studies, 62 used health education approaches (e.g. educational interviews, motivational meetings, advice from physicians, and mobile health content), 16 phone reminders (e.g. text reminders, electronic pill-box linked reminders, bi-directional text messaging), and 10 digital applications as interventions (e.g., various self-management applications). All studies assessed medication adherence; only two persistence. Overall, 30 studies (83%) assessing health education approaches alone and 25 (78%) combined with other strategies, 12 (75%) phone reminders and eight studies (80%) digital applications combined with other strategies reported improved medication adherence. Two studies assessing health education approaches reported improved persistence. Conclusions: Our findings indicate non-pharmacological interventions may positively impact adherence. Background: Knowledge about fertility and factors affecting it, for example, the impact of age, seem to be lacking, even in highly educated populations. The same applies to fertility preservation knowledge, pointing to the relevance of increasing fertility preservation awareness and education among young women. Objective: To describe general fertility knowledge and factors affecting fertility, fertility preservation knowledge and attitudes, and the desire to access more information on this topic in a sample of reproductive-age Portuguese women. Methods: The sample comprised 257 Portuguese women aged 18–45, mostly single and nulliparous. A questionnaire was developed explicitly for this study and disseminated through social media advertisements. Results: Career building/development and financial stability were the more endorsed options for delaying childbearing, with 90 (35%) and 68 (26.5%), respectively. Most participants considered becoming a mother important (n = 185; 72%). More than halve provided an incorrect answer regarding the age range of women being more fertile (n = 132; 51.4%) and the age range of fertility decline (n = 168; 65.4%). Participants were aware of the influence of lifestyle and sexual health factors as well as the effect of age. Oocytes cryopreservation was the technique participants knew more (n = 206; 80.1%), but 177 (68.9%) showed no interest in using it. Most participants agreed that fertility and fertility preservation information should be provided during medical consultations or at school. Conclusions: More information regarding fertility and fertility preservation is relevant to ensure that more women can make informed decisions concerning their reproductive life. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) as a concept was introduced at the end of the 1970s and covers diseases such as typical venereal diseases, as well as chlamydia infections, viral hepatitis B, hepatitis C and subsequently acquired immune deficiency syndrome, etc. The name of venereal diseases is derived from Venus, the goddess of love, beauty and fertility since Roman times. In India, formal training of venereologists started in 1910. The source of infection is a human. Clinical manifestations have a similar mechanism of transmission - through sexual contact, vertical transmission of pathogens and blood. STDs occur most often in the time of sexual maturation of individuals, which is getting extended at earlier age. The children are not prepared and aware with the risks of this new stage of their lives, and hence the prevention, which reveals the actuality of the topic. The aim of the present article is to study the need to introduce educational programs in sexology classes for the relevant age development - Primary schools and Secondary schools. There for an active members are needed such as health professionals (school nurses), child psychologists, teachers, parents and social workers. Results: The total number of respondents from two Secondary schools in the city of Burgas is 114 learners from grade 9th, 10th and 11th where the percentage of girls is predominant (72%). Of those who filled out the questionnaires, only 32 of all learners filled in some of the symptoms of STDs. As methods of protection they indicate a condom, medication, antibiotics, chastity, monogamy, vaccination, prevention, personal hygiene, contraceptives, gloves, masks, masturbation, toys. Among the STDs they know, the highest percentage is: AIDS, HIV, followed by gonorrhea and syphilis. During the discussion part followed by the thematic video the learners freely expressed their thoughts, the awareness of the problem and their desire to be informed through such an educational meetings and discussions with health professionals in the future. Materials and methods: Sociological, documentary and statistical methods were used. Conclusion: The obtained results show that the learners have a serious lack of knowledge on the subject, as well as on the methods of prevention and treatment. Background: Previous trials have indicated that multimodal training could improve cognitive functions and moods in individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). However, evidence was mainly obtained from studies in high-income countries. Objective: This trial aims to investigate the efficacy, safety, and potential mechanism of a multimodal intervention on cognitive function in individuals with MCI living in a community. Methods: In this single-blind, randomized controlled trial, 120 participants with MCI were randomly assigned to either the intervention group or the control group. The intervention group received the multimodal intervention, while the control group received regular health education. Neuropsychological tests and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were conducted at baseline and after the 12-week intervention. Results: Fifty-nine and fifty-seven participants respectively in the intervention and control groups completed the trial. The intervention group shown improvements in primary outcome, Mini-Mental State Exam (MMSE) total score (mean difference –0.96, 95% CI [–1.58, –0.34], p = 0.003), and secondary outcomes: MMSE recall (–0.39, 95% CI [–0.71, –0.07], p = 0.019), MMSE language (–0.26, 95% CI [–0.44, –0.07], p = 0.007), Auditory Verbal Learning Test instantaneous memory (–3.30, 95% CI [–5.70, –0.89], p = 0.008), Digit Symbol Substitution Test total score (–2.91, 95% CI [–5.67, –0.15], p = 0.039), digit span forwards (–1.25, 95% CI [–1.93, –0.56], p < 0.001), and Digit Span Test (–1.33, 95% CI [–2.33, –0.34], p = 0.009) compared to the control group. Improvements were observed in structural and functional connectivity related to language, concentration, executive function, memory, and recall functioning via MRI in the intervention group.
