Abstract

Small- and wide-angle X-ray scattering in solution reveals that chlorophyll (Chl) trefoils self-assemble in the presence of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) to yield supramolecular cyclic trimers. Two Chls of each trefoil coordinate to DABCO to form the vertices of the hexagonal structure, while the remaining Chl acts like a substituent on the benzene-like assembly. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
